A Hank Williams Jr. themed bar, dubbed Hank Williams Jr.’s Boogie Bar, is coming to Nashville’s Lower Broadway this fall.
According to a report from Nashville Business Journal , Big Plan Holdings (BPH) Hospitality is preparing to open the Hank Williams Jr.’s Boogie Bar at 419 Broadway “early” this fall. The three-level and rooftop establishment will lie between the Ernest Tubb Record Shop and AJ’s Good Time Bar.
Additional information about the 11,895-square-foot establishment has yet to be revealed.

Hank Williams Jr.’s Boogie Bar is named in honor of the Country Music Hall of Famer’s chart-topping hit, “Born to Boogie.” Released in 1987, the song served as the lead single of Hank Williams Jr.’s 1987 album of the same name.
The Boogie Bar isn’t the only celebrity-branded bar in the works in partnership with BPH Hospitality as it has another coming to Broadway as well as working on one in the 12South neighborhood.
“As someone who’s lived in Nashville for over a decade now, I think we have a good mix of what locals want and what tourists want in terms of opening bars and restaurants across the city,” said Eric Russell, chief investment officer and principal of BPH Hospitality. “For us, it’s really about creating an environment where both locals and tourists can come together in the same space and they don’t feel like it’s one versus the other.”

Bon Jovi Rumored To Open Bar
Earlier this year, it was reported that Jon Bon Jovi teamed up with Big Plan Holdings to launch a Broadway bar and entertainment venue. According to Nashville Business Journal , the pair paid $9.4 million for an L-shaped site, located at 405 Broadway in November of 2020.
Jon Bon Jovi and his lawyer, CPA firm Sussman & Associates, also registered an LLC for the forthcoming business, named JBJ Broadway LLC, in 2021.
Now, according to new reports by the outlet, the celebrity-branded bar coming to 405 Broadway, in between Merchants and Nudie’s Honky Tonk, will stand five stories tall.

In addition to the bar coming to 405 Broadway, the BPH Hospitality group is currently engaged in a venture within the well-liked 12South district, situated at 2405 12th Ave. S., adjacent to Buttermilk Ranch. Specifics regarding the property’s purpose remain undisclosed, as it was acquired by Big Plan Holdings for $3.55 million in June of 2023.
What Artists Have Bars On Broadway?
Hank Williams Jr.’s Boogie Bar will join the ever growing strip of celebrity-owned bars on Lower Broadway in Nashville, Tennessee, including Alan Jackson (AJ’s Good Time Bar), Luke Bryan (Luke Bryan’s 32 Bridge), Jason Aldean (Jason Aldean’s Kitchen + Rooftop Bar), Florida Georgia Line (FGL House), Miranda Lambert (Miranda Lambert’s Casa Rosa Nashville), Dierks Bentley (Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row), Blake Shelton (Old Red), Kid Rock (Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honky Tonk) and John Rich (Redneck Riviera Bar & BBQ).
Eric Church and Garth Brooks will soon get in on the action with the upcoming openings of Chief’s and Friends In Low Places Bar & Honky Tonk, respectively.

Lower Broadway Is A Popular Attraction In Nashville
The bars on Lower Broadway have become quite the attraction for tourists, especially during the summer season when Music City hosts the annual CMA Fest in June and the Let Freedom Sing! event in July.
According to Nashville Convention And Visitors Corp, CMA Fest 2023 generated $74.7 million in estimated direct visitor spending, and July’s Let Freedom Sing! Music City July 4th generated $11.6 million in estimated direct visitor spending.
“The summer was chock-full of live music and brought visitors from all over the world to Music City, helping bolster the city’s economic activity,” said Deana Ivey, President and CEO, Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. “The city welcomed stadium tours and music events that drove hotel demand to new heights, along with visitation and exposure for the city.”

My birthday is on Halloween so we are always looking for fun events to celebrate with friends. This is the one! We had an awesome time - we checked in early and got a glow mug and flashing Necklace. We were separated into groups by color - everything was really organized! We got our drinks - they were delicious. The music was great - the bars were kept a secret until right before we left which added to the anticipation and excitement. At every bar, there was a game to play and fun prizes to win including spider necklaces, candy, and glowing prizes. The photo op was great and everyone was really friendly! We loved the light sabers and signs letting us know when we were about to leave. Our group, the blue group, went from Mirage to Downtown Sports Bar to 606 to Stilllife to Mirage. It was really fun and something we will be doing again.

A Hank Williams Jr.-themed bar, dubbed Hank Williams Jr.’s Boogie Bar, is coming to Nashville’s Lower Broadway this fall.
Opening In The Fall Of 2023
Additional information about the 11,895-square-foot establishment has yet to be revealed.
Hank Williams Jr.’s Boogie Bar is named in honor of the Country Music Hall of Famer’s chart-topping hit, “Born to Boogie.” Released in 1987, the song served as the lead single of Hank Williams Jr.’s 1987 album of the same name.
“Born To Boogie”
Jon Bon Jovi Bar

Celebrity Bars In Nashville
Hank Williams Jr.’s Boogie Bar will join the ever-growing strip of celebrity-owned bars on Lower Broadway in Nashville, Tennessee, including Alan Jackson (AJ’s Good Time Bar), Luke Bryan (Luke Bryan’s 32 Bridge), Jason Aldean (Jason Aldean’s Kitchen + Rooftop Bar), Florida Georgia Line (FGL House), Miranda Lambert (Miranda Lambert’s Casa Rosa Nashville), Dierks Bentley (Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row), Blake Shelton (Old Red), Kid Rock (Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honky Tonk) and John Rich (Redneck Riviera Bar & BBQ).
Eric Church and Garth Brooks will soon get in on the action with the upcoming openings of Chief’s and Friends In Low Places Bar & Honky Tonk, respectively.

Music City Tourism

15 facts about bar culture in the USSR

A bar in Moscow's Hotel "Intourist". 1974.
1. The first bars in the USSR appeared after the 6th World Festival of Youth and Students in 1957 hosted by Moscow. Guests were not impressed by Soviet cafes so state leaders implemented reforms to change the situation, at least for sightseers. So-called foreign exchange bars were opened in selected hotels for those who visited the Soviet Union from capitalist countries. Many passenger steamships with foreigners onboard also had their own bars.

2. Establishing bars was a good step not only for improving the image of the country but also for topping up the state budget. Foreigners spent a lot of dosh in these watering holes, in contrast to Russians who weren’t allowed into these bars at all.
3. The main problem with organizing a Western-style bar was the lack of furniture and equipment. In St. Petersburg’s Evropa Hotel they even used a sideboard made of an oak-tree which belonged to Nicholas II. Bottles were put in its upper part and the lower part became a fancy bar counter. Visitors always commented on how sturdy it was.

Krysha, the most exotic of the four restaurants in Grand Hotel Europe on the very top of the hotel. The waiters are dressed in the clothes of Peter I's epoch.
4. There weren’t any official written guidelines for barmen in Russian, so they either had to read foreign magazines and journals or order books from abroad. The first instruction for Soviet barmen didn’t appear until 1978 and contained more than 7,000 drink recipes.
5. For the ordinary Soviet man, the word “bar” meant all the vices of the capitalist world. So most barmen avoided talking about their job to escape conflict. Only their dearest and nearest knew about their occupation.

Evening in Yakor (Ancor) bar.
6. All barmen were called “ bufetchik ” (“tapsters”) in the USSR. In 1967 one of the most notable figures in Russia’s drink industry - Alexander Kudryavtsev - wrote a letter to the government asking the country to officially recognize the profession of barman in the Soviet Union. Surprisingly, the powers that be granted his wish.
7. In 1982 Yury Shadzilovsky became the first Soviet barman to take part in the World Barman Championship in Prague. He participated in all events and had to make a long drink, a short drink, a hot drink, a non-alcoholic drink, and an author’s cocktail in three portions - all in 15 mins. Yury scooped gold for the short drink and silver for the others.

Foreign guests are having a drink in a bar at the Intourist Hotel.
8. Bars were used by the Soviet government as an instrument of propaganda. In 1965 in the small town of Borisoglebsk on the border between the USSR and Norway, an unusual bar was opened where Scandinavians were allowed to go without visas.
The Pravda Newspaper wrote: “Foreigners were allowed to drink as much as they liked there and pay less money than in Norwegian cafes.” The bar was used for historical exhibitions and demonstration of films about communists. It was only open for 59 days as Norway didn’t want to become embroiled in the Cold War.
9. All barmen who worked with foreigners were obliged to cooperate with the KGB and become members of the communist party. They passed a very strict selection exam. They had to know several languages and embody Soviet virtues, just to mix cocktails for foreigners. Barmen told the agents about the guests and their Soviet acquaintances, especially local girls who wanted to “establish international relationships.”

10. The decision to place mini bars in hotel rooms for foreigners in Moscow and St. Petersburg was taken by the Soviet government after the Olympic Games of 1980, when the staff received a number of complaints about the quality of service. It took the USSR five years to find appropriate (small and stylish) fridges, and start the production of petite bottles with quality alcohol. In 1985, the USSR got its first mini bars.
11. Soviet people were not allowed to enter bars for foreigners, even diplomats were told not to so they wouldn’t spoil the image of the communist country by showing that they accepted the Western lifestyle.
Until the 70s the Soviet citizen could drink booze in restaurants and so-called “ryumochnaya,” roughly translated as “a place to take vodka shots.” But they were different from the bars we all know. There were no seats and guests stood around high tables. They also only served sandwiches and vodka.
When the first bar for ordinary people appeared it was greeted with enthusiasm. The most expensive drink there was the favorite cocktail of Ernest Hemingway - a daiquiri. It cost two rubles and one kopeck, the same price for 17 kg of carrots at the time.

12. Vodka and birch and cranberry juice became important components of Russian cocktails during the Soviet Union. According to the St. Petersburg Association of Barmen, they were loved and appreciated by foreigners as something peculiar and exotic.
13. The first bars in Sheremetyevo-2 Airport opened in 1980 when the Olympic Games were held in the USSR. Those tasked with serving the guests had to be friendly and attentive but it was a huge challenge for the Soviet hospitality sector.

14. During the 70s Soviet bars for foreigners were among the first places where bank cards were accepted in the USSR. Barmen were instructed on how to process cashless payments by the officials of “Inturist” (the main organization which regulated tourism) and the External Economic Bank.
15. The Soviet Union is the home of the original theory of cocktail mixing. For each of the 55 groups of drinks, barmen created an algebraic formula, which is still good both for creating common cocktails and inventing new ones. Components are named with letters and their proportion is marked with numbers.

Stream It Or Skip It: ‘The Boogeyman’ on VOD, an Atmospheric Creeper Spawned From an Obscure Stephen King Story
Where to stream:.

‘Creepshow’ Season 4 Episode 3 Recap: “Parent Death Trap” + “To Grandmother’s House We Go”
Stream it or skip it: ‘pet sematary: bloodlines’ on paramount+, a prequel to a middling stephen king property, stream it or skip it: ‘rose red’ on hulu, the 2002 stephen king miniseries that’s the sleeper hit of 2023’s spooky season, what time will ‘pet sematary: bloodlines’ be on paramount+ how to watch.
The Boogeyman ( now streaming on VOD services like Amazon Prime Video ) has its work cut out for it: Monster movie, things-that-go-bump-in-the-night premise, based on a Stephen King story. Sounds like a whole bunch of horror films that already exist, doesn’t it? This one’s a King deep cut, a 1973 short story about a creature that emerges from closets and kills children. Rob Savage ( Dashcam ) directs, with Yellowjackets star Sophie Thatcher holding down the fort-plot, playing a teenager caught between the trauma of her mother’s death and her grieving father and younger sister – and hopefully not caught in the teeth of the whatever-it-is that’s stalking all of them.
THE BOOGEYMAN : STREAM IT OR SKIP IT?
The Gist: At first, you’ll wonder if you’re watching a live-action Monsters Inc. remake: A little girl sleeps in bed. Something lurks in the closet. She cries, terrified. But it’s soon clear this ain’t no Mike Wazowski. We hear an eerie voice purporting to be the kid’s father, and then a splat, and then blood splatters on the wall. Was it her father? Or something else? My nickel’s on something else, because if the Boogeyman is just a dude, what kind of horror movie would this be? (Answer: probably a serial killer thriller.) CUT TO: daytime, the Harper family residence. Sadie (Thatcher) mopes. She walks… very… slowly… through a room – this movie is full of scenes in which she walks… very… slowly… through a room – where she pulls a dress from a closet and smells it. It was her mother’s. She died a month prior. Car accident. Sadie decides to wear the dress to school for her first day back after the tragedy.
Sadie’s father, Will (Chris Messina), works at home; he has a dedicated office where he sees his talk-therapy patients. She has a younger sister, Sawyer (Vivien Lyra Blair), who’s eight. It’s hard to draw a bead on this house they live in – all sorts of shit is going to happen there, all sorts of weird and noisy shit, and people in other rooms aren’t going to notice or acknowledge any of it, because otherwise, the movie might not be as scary. Must be a pretty big house? Soundproof walls, maybe? Or are Dad’s hearing aids on the fritz? Anyway. Sadie goes back to school and has awkward interactions with friends, some of whom are more insensitive than others. Will wraps up with one patient when another knocks on the door, unscheduled. The guy’s name is Lester (David Dastmalchian), and he seems deeply troubled. Will plays it cool. Lester’s nonverbals are, well, alarming. His verbals are even more alarming – something borderline incomprehensible about his three dead children and how people think he did it. When Will sneaks away to call for help, Lester makes his way upstairs and there’s some thumping and odd noises – this movie is full of thumping and odd noises – and before you know it, Sadie opens a closet to find Lester’s noosed corpse.
That night, little Sawyer tries to doze off, but that’s difficult when something is scampering from the closet to the bed. She peers beneath and whatever it is in the dimness – this movie is full of dimness – appears to have slashy claws and slashy teeth and eyeballs that cut through the dark. Yes, this is a jump scare, which is your cue to grab your boyfriend or girlfriend’s hand and squeeze. Sadie and Will are skeptical of Sawyer’s claims of seeing a monster, as they should be. But we saw it, or something that might be it; let’s just call it “the boogeyman” (see “memorable dialogue” below), who keeps coming out at night because light keeps it away, and therefore all the characters never, ever flip the lightswitch on – this movie is full of characters who never, ever flip the lightswitch on. Anyway, the kids are going through some shit. Sadie tries to talk to her dad about her dead-mom-related feelings and he nervously shakes it off and essentially says, hey, tell it to your shrink. Irony! Then again, Dad’s going through some shit, too. I think the monster is drawn to this type of shit, or is a manifestation of the shit, although I think that gives the movie too much credit, because I’m pretty sure it’s not trying to say anything – this movie is full of shit!
What Movies Will It Remind You Of?: The Boogeyman is a smeared fifth-generation mimeograph of The Babadook .
Performance Worth Watching: Let’s just say Dastmalchian has pretty much cornered the market on disturbed, sunken-eyed weirdos.
Memorable Dialogue: You will not be shocked to learn that there’s a crazy-lady character in this movie who utters the immortal words: “They call it” – pause for dramatic effect – “the boogeyman.”
Sex and Skin: This movie is not full of any of this stuff. To be precise, it has none of it.
Our Take: I’ll give The Boogeyman this – its jump scares are pretty effective, the result of Savage concocting the right atmospheric conditions to exploit primal childhood fears. Beyond that, it’s the usual Psych 101 blahblahblah about trauma, surrounded by rudimentary plotting, sloppy-shifty “rules” dictating the monster’s manifestation and an infuriating disregard for logic. The crazy lady tells Sadie that the creature avoids light, and yet she never bothers to find a lightswitch. Ever . This movie would have you believe the power grid exploded, or was devoured by a sperm whale. If you yell TURN ON A GODDAMN LIGHT every time she should turn on a goddamn light, your vocal cords will burst like overcooked sausages.
Savage prefers to be creative with his visual conceits, even if it means driving his audience nuts – his use of cigarette lighters, Christmas lights and ambient lighting from a video game on a TV shows his preference for nifty-looking contrivance over coherence. He leans heavily on haunted-house tropes –e.g., long slow stares into blackness looking for the skinamarink or whatever, or reaching… slowly… for… a… doorknob – and throws in an It Was Only A Dream rug-pull to make the whole endeavor even more maddening. At this point, all of Stephen King’s major works have been adapted and exploited, and we’ve seen vast swaths of fodder spawning from his minor work – which leaves us with less-than-minor fodder ripe for annoyingly half-assed creepfests like The Boogeyman .
Our Call: It’s just math: A couple of creepy moments can’t compensate for dozens of irritating, repetitive cliches. SKIP IT.
