Call of Duty Ghosts Extinction Strategy Guide – Skill Points and Upgrades
The in-depth Call of Duty Ghosts Extinction Strategy to play solo and with team with recommended loadouts, upgrade tree path and area walkthrough.
Call of Duty: Ghosts features an all-new game mode by the name of Extinction. Extinction can be considered as a spin-off of popular zombie survival mode from Call of Duty titles developed by Treyarch.
For more help on Call of Duty Ghosts Extinction mode, read our Loadouts Tips and Strike Packages Guide .
Call of Duty Ghosts Extinction Strategy
The Extinction Mode requires you to destroy 14 alien hives followed by activating a nuke and returning to escape zone. It can be played solo as well as with a full party of four players. You can have another player join-in via split-screen when playing on a single console.
In this guide, I will be talking about various tips and strategies that you could use while playing solo or with a full party.
Solo Tips and Strategy
Contrary to the popular belief, you don’t have to be at a maximum level to beat the Extinction Mode in solo. Sure, it is hell lot of a difficult task but certainly not impossible. All you need to do is practice a lot and figure out which abilities and classes work well for you.
We will certainly recommend you to level up to 22 so that you unlock Sentry Gun, which serves as another player. Besides, you need to avoid useless reloads and abilities. When planning on finishing the Extinction solo, I would recommend you to use the following Loadout:
Class : Tank Pistol : Your preference Ammo : Armor-piercing Team Support : Team Booster Strike Package : Sentry Gun Equalizer : Crowd Control
Tank allows you to regenerate your health at a faster rate and receive less damage from Scorpions. You can have any pistol you want, but I would definitely go for M9A1.
When you are playing Solo, it is good to have Team Booster as it allows you to repair the Drill at a faster rate. And as for Crowd Control, it serves you as armor when you switch to your primary weapon.
Which Upgrades To Unlock With Skill Points Skill Points are earned in the game depending upon your overall performance. An easy way of earning Skill Points is by completing challenges that appear before each hive. These challenges are pretty straightforward and get you plenty of Skill Points.
I have recommended an ideal upgrade tree which will serve you the best. However, I will not recommend you to stick with it if something else works for you:
- Explosive Ammo +1
- Explosive Ammo +2
- Explosive Ammo +3
- Explosive Ammo +4
- Sentry Gun +1
- Sentry Gun +2
- Team Booster +1
- Team Booster +2
- Team Booster +3
- Team Booster +4
- Sentry Gun +3
- Sentry Gun +4
Prior to starting the game, you need to coordinate with your team so as to decide which role to take. Every player in the team can also go for the same class but it is always better to have each class present at the same time.
Engineer It is an Engineer’s responsibility to repair the Drill and set Traps in the surroundings. Traps set by Engineers last longer and they do not take damage while repairing the Drill.
Medic Medic has the ability to revive his/her teammates at a faster rate and teammates regenerate health faster when they are near their Medic. Medic receives less damage from the Scorpions and regenerate health faster.
Ammo The primary focus of this role is to provide as much ammo as possible. In addition to this, upgrading ammo should be the first priority. You cannot expect to survive without ammo; so it is of significant importance.
Armor The significance of Armor cannot be neglected. Armor allows your teammates to absorb damage and stay alive for longer durations of time. It is not easy to fulfill this role but I would definitely recommend someone to fill in this role and have constant supply of Armor on the go.
The Lodge Just as the game starts, you need to complete at least two challenges. After entering the main area, you will be provided with different hives that you will have to destroy. I would recommend you destroy these hives in the A, B, C, D, E, order.
Since the difficulty of these hives increase over the course of time, I would recommend you to complete the Parking Lot at the very end since there will be Electric Traps to help you out.
You will often come across challenges like , ‘Get fifteen kills with shotgun before destroying the hives’. So it is better to purchase a gun after placing the Drill.
I would recommend you to buy AK-12 which is located at the very beginning of the map.
Barrier Hive By the time you reach the first Barrier Hive, it is good to have at least two challenges completed and have Medic +2. Running around with a shotgun is definitely a bummer as you will not be able to strike scorpions at longer ranges.
The Scorpions at this stage inflict a lot damage, and it is good to take care of them first.
The Fire Trap located nearby is good as nothing. Instead of investing in Fire Trap, try considering having a Crowd Control and switching to your primary weapon, which will provide you with a weak armor to keep your back covered.
You should not worry about spending money at this point as clearing out the Barrier Hive will get you some additional money.
Scorpions have specific locations from which they attack. These locations are the neon sign, cliff and rooftops. Shoot them at sight but do not forget about the Scouts on the ground level.
Town After successfully destroying the first Barrier Hive, you can grab the money and move into the Town. Seekers and Hunters will be waiting for your arrival so make sure you grab a LMG by ascending the ladder. This LMG has a good rate of fire and ammo clip, and you should be using it since the very end of the game and only costs you $3,000.
Once you have grabbed the gun, take the Drill and start clearing out the hives in A, B, C, D order. As I have afore mentioned, hives tend to get difficult with the passage of time so you need to do the hardest one near the Traps.
When you are drilling the Hive-C, make sure to activate all the Traps. As for the Hive-D, I would not recommend using the Sentry Gun but activating the Fire Trap is a must. Furthermore, try calling in the chopper for some extra support.
Second Barrier Hive Knowing the pattern of Scorpions will work to your advantage while clearing out the second Barrier Hive. Once the chopper arrives, activate all the four traps in the area which will inflict heavy damage to Hunters and Seekers.
After you have activated all the Traps, you need to set up a Sentry Gun right at the face of the Barrier Hive and try to keep it going on. The Sentry Gun will prove to be really useful; even if you have not upgraded it to a maximum.
Cabin Soon after clearing out the second Barrier Hive, the path to The Cabin will open up. After entering The Cabin, you will encounter a Rhino. It is not necessary to kill it at this point, but you can do so to practice a little.
When you get to the Cabin-A, you need to place a Sentry Gun at the wooden stairs. Using Team Boosters at this point help you a lot by reducing the reloading time of your LMG.
After you Drill reaches 50% completion, Rhino will appear. You need to lure it in front of the Sentry Gun to inflict some extra damage and keep on moving to evade its attacks.
Cabin-B is easily the most difficult hive of The Cabin as it is in an open area. There will be a few Traps in the area, but they will not be much of a help. You should place the Turret on the right side of the hive and activate all the Traps to make this a bit easy.
Depending upon your play style, Cabin-C can be considered as either too easy or too difficult. Since this hive is located in a barn, you will have a lot of cover and will be able to place your Sentry Gun in a much safe environment
Once you reach 75% completion with the Drill, a Rhino will appear. Once again, try to lure it in front of the Sentry Gun to inflict some extra damage. Furthermore, try moving up and down the barn ladder to evade the Rhino attacks.
Crater The Crater has final two hives of the game, and you should consider completing them in alphabetical order. The Crater can be accessed via Cabin-B of the previous area. For Crater-A, place a Sentry Gun at the top of the cliff and stick to the upper areas to take out Scorpions and Hunters.
After clearing out the Crater-A, make to the Crater-B and spawn in a helicopter before placing the Drill. Furthermore, have a Sentry Gun (with Upgrade #4) near the hive and activate all the traps in the area.
You will be overwhelmed by Rhinos and Hunters. Just keep on replacing the Sentry Guns if they get taken out and worry less about money. Surviving the last hive will require you to activate the Nuke and return to the Evac Zone.
Nuke You need to head to the Crater-B to activate The Nuke using a laptop and will have 5 minutes to return to the Evac Zone. Switch to your Pistol and keep on sprinting all the way back.
You will encounter two meteors blocking your path, which takes 30 seconds to vanish. During this time, you will get different sorts of aliens, and you will have to hold them off.
You will also come across a Rhino, but I would not recommend engaging it since and just running all the way back to complete the mission.
Bored? Make Extinction Harder With Relics
Once you reach the maximum level (Level 30) in Extinction Mode, you will get the ability to Prestige which reverts you to Level 1 but you will still have access to your unlocked Loadouts.
In addition to this, you will also get Prestige Relics which serve as a mean to make the game harder. There are a total of five Relics in the game:
- Relic #1 -Take more damage
- Relic #2 – Pistols only
- Relic #3 – Smaller Wallet
- Relic #4 – Mortal (No classes)
- Relic #5 – Do less damage
While these Relics are enabled, you get more points for taking a hive out and will also unlock an Achievement/Trophy for completing the Extinction Mode with an enabled Relic.

'Call of Duty: Ghosts': mapas, armas y modos de juego
Armas de Call of Duty: Ghosts

Ghosts - Weapons List | Guns
Call of Duty: Ghosts features a variety of different multiplayer weapons that can be customized with different attachments.
Weapon selection is intensely personal. The way the guns are balanced within a given category, there is rarely one vastly superior weapon for an SMG or an Assault Rifle. Instead, it comes down to what you find most comfortable. Choosing the right type of weapon for the map and mode is generally more important than choosing one specific gun within a particular weapon class.
The weapons you use determine your role on the battlefield, from fast-moving SMG assault to long-range Sniper support. Mastery of all weapon types is essential to the flexible combatant. Whether the mission is urban search and destroy or open-field battle, having the skill and confidence to choose the correct weapon and utilize it effectively is a vital talent. The same can be said for all call of duty black ops 3 multiplayer weapons since they are less forgiving when used incorrectly.
Secondary weapons, information.
Xbox 360 / One, PlayStation 3 / 4, Wii U and PC. Multiplayer is available on Xbox LIVE (Xbox 360 / One), PSN (PS3 / PS4) and Steam. Xbox LIVE requires Gold Membership.
COD: Black Ops 3
The latest COD game (Black Ops 3) has evolved the series by adding new movement mechanics, weapons, perks and scorestreaks. Treyarch has also overhauled call of duty black ops 3's multiplayer substantially while still keeping the core of the game familiar to returning players.

There are six different types of ammo in Call of Duty: Ghosts Extinction mode. The different types of ammo include Normal ammo, Stun Ammo , Incendiary Ammo , Explosive Ammo , Armor Piercing Ammo , and Cryptid Slayer Ammo , the lattermost being an Armory upgrade that replaces the Normal Ammo.
When deployed, the player will receive ammo for all weapons that can receive ammo through ammo crates. The person who threw the crate receives the benefit immediately, while others have to walk up to the crate and retrieve it themselves.
Typically, players will be encouraged by others to agree to use one specific type of ammo so as to not have the aforementioned problem of conflicting special ammo types causing ammo to be wasted. In a match with multiple players, ammo for the whole team is usually provided by one player to avoid that problem.
All ammo crates do not affect launchers, which use alternative methods to resupplying them, Equalizers , which have their own separate ammo pools, nor special weapons such as the SOFLAM , Venom-X , and the NX-1 Disruptor .
The Limited Ammo relic will reduce the amount of ammo a player with the active relic will get from a dropped ammo crate. This cannot be bypassed by simply upgrading the ammo either, as Limited Ammo will always force players into getting the same fixed percentage of ammo loaded into their weapons regardless of how highly upgraded the ammo is. For this reason, players using Limited Ammo in Solo Play need not worry about upgrading their ammo.

Normal Ammo [ ]
Normal ammo is found loaded into every weapon the player finds for the first time. It is loaded by default into the player's Handgun at the start of the game, and every weapon the player buys will have regular ammo by default. Normal ammo for the user's active weapon that they bought can be purchased by returning to the weapon buy area and repeating the purchase process, with the additional ammo costing $1500.
Normal ammo can also be thrown by players as an ammo crate. To compensate for the lack of secondary effect this ammo has, in addition to its higher cost, normal ammo will give more ammo per box than most special ammo crates. Further upgrading the ammo crate can make it reload a player's magazines before maxing out ammo, as well as regenerating ammo for nearby players without them even touching the box. The ammo regeneration effect even works on players that are using Earn Your Keep , who usually cannot interact with the supply crates that teammates throw on the ground. This is the only way that players who use Earn Your Keep can receive ammo for free. The ammo regeneration and active magazine reloading effects of the final two upgrades can also act as a great workaround to those using Limited Ammo, as players using Limited Ammo usually gain little to no benefit from the first two upgrades.
Deploying normal ammo gives different quotes from the person throwing the ammo than normal, to distinguish it from special ammo throws.
Normal ammo does not conflict with special ammo types, and will never replace a player's loaded special ammo should a player take ammo from a normal ammo box. Because it does not replace preexisting ammo under any circumstances, normal ammo boxes are often used by players who do not have access to Cryptid Slayer Ammo but are playing with someone who has access to Cryptid Slayer Ammo, as a failsafe to prevent the user/other players from accidentally discarding their special ammo. Otherwise, the normal ammo type is scarcely used when the player has the ability to choose their ammo type.
Special Ammo [ ]
Special ammo crates are usually a little bit less expensive than the Normal Ammo crates, and the ammo has an additional effect against Cryptids. To compensate for this increased utility, Special Ammo provides less ammo per crate than Normal Ammo, maxing out at providing 70% of the maximum special ammo loadout in one box. As well, it is not capable of receiving some of the upgrades that a normal ammo box can provide, such as filling the magazine before giving ammo, or regenerating ammo for nearby players.
Only one special ammo type can be loaded into a player's weapon at a time. If special ammo of a different type is acquired by a player who already has special ammo, the previous special ammo type is completely discarded from the player's weapon(s), and the new special ammo is loaded in its place. When special ammo is loaded, ammo statistics displayed in the HUD will only pertain to that special ammo. The statistics for normal ammo are not visible until the special ammo in that weapon is completely expended, so players will not be able to see how much normal ammo their weapons have when special ammo is present.
Incendiary Ammo specifically has a glitch associated with it, where any bullet-based minigun turrets - be it the immovable minigun turrets or a Portable Minigun Turret - will gain an incendiary effect on bullets fired from them if the user has Incendiary Ammo loaded in the weapon they had in use before operating the turret.
Cryptid Slayer Ammo [ ]
Costing 500 teeth from the Armory , making it one of the most expensive Armory upgrades of all, the Cryptid Slayer Ammo is the most powerful ammo option available. It gives as much ammo per upgrade as regular ammo while also having the effects of Stun Ammo, Incendiary Ammo, Explosive Ammo, and Armor Piercing ammo built into it at once. As a trade off for its massively increased firepower and quantity, Cryptid Slayer Ammo costs $2000 per box, making it by far the most expensive of the ammo crates, and making it one of the most expensive items in Extinction. Despite its very high cost, Cryptid Slayer Ammo is the preferred ammo type in Extinction should a player have it available just due to the sheer quantity and quality of the ammo provided with each box.
Despite giving as much ammo per box as regular ammo, as well as having the same upgrade properties as regular ammo, it is treated in-game as a type of special ammo. When deployed by a user, on Point of Contact, they will use the standard "Special ammo ready!" callout that applies to other special ammo types. On DLC maps, however, the user that deployed the ammo will default to saying "Explosive rounds ready!" with their callout.
Cryptid Slayer Ammo is affected by Armory upgrades that affect the various ammo types that are integrated into the gun.
The same incendiary glitch that affects minigun turrets can also be triggered with Cryptid Slayer Ammo.
Ammo from Search Piles [ ]
Ammo is able to be acquired from Search Piles . There are three different types of ammo loot from a Search Pile:
- The search pile returns one full magazine of regular ammo to whatever weapon the player currently has in their hands. If the reserve ammo is maxed out for the specific weapon the player is holding, then the player will not be permitted to accept the clip for that weapon, although a weapon that does not have maxed out reserve ammo can still accept it, granted that the player switches to it. This is not affected by Limited Ammo .
- The search pile returns an ammo box that maxes out the regular reserve ammo for all weapons the player currently has. The player will make a positive comment upon this outcome occurring. If the player has completely maxed out reserve ammo across all weapons the player has, then the player is not permitted to accept this item.
- Additionally, the search pile may be forced to return the same special ammo that the player's equipped weapon currently has loaded in it. If the player's weapon they have in use when searching has special ammo loaded in it, the search pile cannot give a differing special ammo type from that particular weapon. This can be useful to receive more of a particular special ammo, especially if it's the expensive Cryptid Slayer Ammo.
Upgrades [ ]
Normal ammo [cost: $1000-$1250] [ ].
Note : Cryptid Slayer Ammo follows the same upgrade path as Normal Ammo. Initial - Refill bullet weapons to 40% of max ammo.
+1 - Cost: 1 - Refill bullet weapons to 70% of max ammo.
+2 - Cost: 1 - Fills the team's weapons ammo stock to the maximum.
+3 - Cost: 1 - Fills the current magazine before adding max ammo.
+4 - Cost: 2 - Ammo regenerates for players within a 20ft radius of the box. (Refills 10% max ammo every six seconds.)
This ammo is regular, with no special bonus.
Special Ammo Types & Upgrades [ ]
- Stun Ammo - Temporarily immobilizes Cryptids.
- Incendiary Ammo - Damage continues after firing has ceased.
- Explosive Ammo - Splash damage caused.
- Armor Piercing Ammo - Negates negative multipliers.
- Cryptid Slayer ammo - Combines all ammo types (500 Teeth upgrade)
Initial - Gives 30% max stock ____ Ammo to all weapons.
+1 - Cost: 1 - Gives 40% max stock ____ Ammo to all weapons.
+2 - Cost: 1 - Gives 50% max stock ____ Ammo to all weapons.
+3 - Cost: 1 - Gives 60% max stock ____ Ammo to all weapons.
+4 - Cost: 1 - Gives 70% max stock ____ Ammo to all weapons.
- Higher Grade Armor Piercing Ammo - 5 Teeth - Armor Piercing Ammo will inflict increased damage.
- Higher Quality Incendiary Ammo - 5 Teeth - Incendiary Ammo does more total damage.
- Arcing Stun Ammo - 50 Teeth - Stun Ammo will arc electricity from one Cryptid to another in close proximity. The amount of times it arcs is dependent on the upgrade level of the player's Stun Ammo
- Ammo, Team Support & money crates will disappear after ninety seconds.
- Ammo will not be refilled until the box hits the ground.
- Cryptid slayer ammo and explosive ammo possess a passive 10% increase of damage for each bullet landed, however, this negates both damage bonuses of the weapon specialist, making it deal effectively less damage when using one of these types of ammo, although this does not apply with the rest types of ammo.

KILL STREAKS, ADVANCED WEAPONRY & PERKS
There are over 20 NEW Kill Streaks in Call of Duty®: Ghosts — such as Juggernaut Maniac, Helo-Scout, Vulture and the ODIN Strike. You can even bring in Riley, from the single-player campaign, as your guard dog to warn you and attack when enemies are near. Scorestreaks are back, and can now be customized – to alter performance attributes or increase the power of a particular streak. The new Perks System has a value from 1 to 5, and you have 8 points to allocate. You could also choose to get rid of your secondary weapon and get up to 11 perks.
Squads introduces a whole new level of competition to Call of Duty. We've taken the best parts of the Multiplayer experience and combined that with a vastly improved AI and our new mechanic of creating your own squad-mates. NEW ENGINE. From maps and modes, to animation and audio, to who you are as a player — this is the biggest overhaul of multiplayer since the original Modern Warfare®. Things like Sub-D, Displacement Mapping, Real-Time Lighting, and Dual-Rendering tech gives us the ability to build the most visceral gameplay experience we've ever created.
Call of Duty®: Ghosts has redefined how you move through the world.
· A new contextual lean system now allows you to lean around obstacles without adding button combinations.
· A new mantling system allows you to move fluidly over objects, while not losing momentum.
· The knee slide allows you to naturally transition from sprinting to crouch to prone.
DYNAMIC MAP EVENTS
We're immersing players in the multi-player maps in ways similar to what we've done cinematically in single-player, while adding new ways to play and interact with the environments in a meaningful way. New interactive elements and player triggered events make the maps evolve as the match goes on. From player-triggered traps to map-changing killstreaks, the entire landscape can shift and require new tactics and strategies.
OUTNUMBERED, OUTGUNNED, BUT NOT OUTMATCHED. This new chapter in the Call of Duty® franchise features a fresh dynamic, where players are on the side of a crippled nation, fighting not for freedom, or liberty, but simply to survive. Special Operations forces, a mysterious group known only as "Ghosts", lead the battle against a newly-emerged, technologically-superior, global power.
An independent, covert, and ultra-elite Special Forces unit, GHOSTS operates outside of the normal military chain of command. Formed from the remnants of Tier one operatives, who were nearly wiped out during Operation Sand Viper in the Middle East, in 2005. The fifteen survivors, including Captain Gabriel Rorke and Lt. Elias Walker, were formed into a new unit known as “The Ghosts.”
The resource-rich promise of South America has been fulfilled under the Federation. Fully consolidated energy production combined with a rich factory infrastructure arising from First World outsourcing, the Federation is operating and enjoying a period of growth similar to the late 20th Century Middle East.
The United States ushered in a new era of space-based warfare with the launch of the O.D.I.N. (Orbital Defense Initiative) space station. The ODIN station was armed with a battery of sophisticated kinetic projectile launchers. The ODIN’s weapon systems were designed to drop tungsten rods from orbit with pin-point precision. One rod hit was equivalent to the detonation of a small tactical nuclear warhead.
NO MAN'S LAND
"No Man's Land" (NML) is the slang term for a 60-mile wide strip of suburban desolation that runs East-West across Southern California, starting between San Diego and Los Angeles. NML stretches from the Orange County coastline out into the Mojave Desert to Las Vegas, and beyond…NML was ground zero for the ODIN orbital strikes when the Federation saboteurs used it against the US. The Odin kinetic bombardment left massive craters and rendered it tectonically unstable.
BROTHERS IN ARMS
Hesh and Logan Walker trained their entire lives under the watchful and demanding eye of their battle hardened father, Elias Walker. Their innate abilities as marksman and hunters gave them a particular advantage growing up. Their father had hoped that these traits would help both of his sons maintain their self-reliance should things get rough. Ten years after the Odin event, Lt. they serve together on a recon team based out of Fort Santa Monica, tasked with defending and patrolling the California front. Both were grounded by Elias’ subtle training – core to which is that Hesh and his younger brother Logan must always look out for each other.
Warfare is no longer limited to the trenches. Fights take place underwater, in outer space and even on jagged rock faces. Diverse missions and battlefields have you rappelling down buildings, floating in zero gravity and taking aim inside a helicopter. The diversity of gameplay keeps the action epic and redefines what it means to be a soldier in the field.
Extinction is a completely new 4-player, co-op game mode featuring a unique blend of fast-paced survival gameplay, base defense, player customization and class leveling rounding out this robust new Call of Duty: Ghosts game mode. Teamwork is critical. Your team faces an inhuman menace that has overrun an isolated Colorado town and you must eliminate the threat via any means necessary.
At the start of the game, each member of the team chooses from one of several custom character classes - medic, engineer, tank, and weapon specialist. As the team battles through the streets of Caldera Peak, players earn currency that can be used to purchase a variety of upgrades and character abilities. The team can scavenge for special equipment and weapon mods left behind by previous, unsuccessful, military forces.
Extinction’s fast-paced survival combat features a series of intense base-defense scenarios, where your overall objective is to destroy the alien threat with the help of a nuclear device. Team members must work together to hold off waves of alien attackers until each alien “hive” can be neutralized. No two games are the same as the moment-to-moment upgrade decisions can dictate the strategies of the team.
Extinction features a variety of new “alien” enemies, from wall crawling Scouts, ferocious Hunters, devious exploding Seekers, leaping and spitting Scorpions, and massive armored Rhinos that can decimate an unprepared squad in a matter of seconds.
HINTS AND TIPS FOR SUCCESS
Players can equip up to four found attachments on their weapons, find flares, trophy systems, special ammo, and even a "Hypno-Knife" that can brainwash enemy creatures, transforming them into savage allies for a limited time. Extinction’s new Combat Spend system also offers access to a wide range of offensive, defensive, and support equipment bonuses that can turn the tide of a desperate battle.
