How to Unlock Incident at Hiyoshi Pass

Like all side quests, you can unlock this quest directly or stumble upon the quest, cutting out the middle man by following the golden bird to the location. This one in particular will become available in Act 1.

As you’re moving through the river northeast from the Golden Forest, Jin will hear a noise coming from under the bridge.

Incident at Hiyoshi Pass Rewards

As soon as you get close to the area, a new marker will appear leading you to the bridge. You will stumble upon many enemies fighting there, so prepare for battle beforehand. A scared NPC on the other side will kickstart the actual tale, so look for him.

They’re using one of the townsfolk as bait. Make a run for the bridge and defend him from the enemy archers. Feel free to jump into the water to make it faster to get to them. Once you’re done killing them Jin will announce it, so just go back to the bridge and release Banta.

Speak with Banta’s uncle

Now everyone will be able to cross the bridge safely. Go ahead and talk to Banta’s uncle again.

Below are the rewards you get for completing Incident at Hiyoshi Pass.

Ghost of Tsushima Incident at Hiyoshi Pass Walkthrough

Incident at Hiyoshi Pass is a side tale in Ghost of Tsushima. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Incident at Hiyoshi Pass side Quest.

Incident at Hiyoshi Pass is unlocked when you’ve completed the opening sequence, and reach the open world.

Side Tale: Incident at Hiyoshi Pass Act:  1 – Rescue Lord Shimura Region:  Izuhara Quest Giver: Peasant Rumor Requirement:  Find the quest in the open world Rewards: Minor Legend Increase, Minor Defense Charm, 10 linen Mission Info: The Mongols have taken the bridge leading into Hiyoshi Springs. It’s stopping the people of Tsushima from traveling the ravine safely. I need to clear the bridge of Mongol control.

Objectives:

Find the bridge between Hiyoshi and Ariake

Rescue banta from the mongol archers, speak with banta’s uncle, starting location: incident at hiyoshi pass.

This is a fairly straightforward mission with a lot of archers annoying you. Follow the waypoint to a peasant and speak with him to start the quest.

It seems that the peasant’s nephew Banta is injured and lying in the middle of the bridge, letting the archers in the ravine below use him as bait for attack.

In total there are about a dozen archers divided between both sides of the canyon. They will all be fairly stationary, only going back and forth on their ledges, or dropping down to a lower one. You can try killing the archers from the top of the canyon if you have good aim, which will allow you to use the cliff edge to your advantage, only exposing yourself to fire from one row of archers at a time.

Alternately you can tackle this from ground level near the riverbank, which will also let you pick up any dropped arrows from the archers you kill. Either way, there isn’t a great deal of strategy here. Shoot them before they shoot you.

Once they’re all dead, rescue Banta. (Who sure runs well for an injured guy.)

That’s it. That’s all there is to this mission. I’m not sure you needed this walkthrough.

I suggest making sure you’ve got at least one bow upgrade under your belt and maybe even a couple of charms before taking this maddening quest on. And dont wear your traveller clothes! You’ll kill your health. Wear armor and make use of the rocks on the cliff face to hide behind. There’s also a beehive you can shoot by two enemy guys. It’s best to save your game first, Then scope out where everyone is positioned and go from there.

Synopsis [ ]

Jin Sakai encounters a family at the bridge leading to Hiyoshi Springs , where he is informed by a peasant that his nephew Banta is is injured and trapped in the middle of the bridge, which has been surrounded by archers from below whom intend to use the boy as bait to draw the family out onto the bridge, where they will be range of their arrows. Jin defeats the Mongol archers and ensures the safety of the bridge for the family to proceed towards Hiyoshi Springs. Afterwards, the peasant can be spoken to outside of the Hiyoshi Springs inn, where he comments on his nephew.

Incident At Hiyoshi Pass - Boss Fight Tips

Incident at hiyoshi pass - quest location, located in izuhara.

The Incident at Hiyoshi Pass can be found in the Izuhara region of the map. It will be south of the Hidden Springs Forest and Yoichi's Slope. You can find this side quest while exploring the open world.

No Prerequisite For Unlocking

This mission can be found while exploring the world. You do not need to complete any other mission beforehand for this side quest to become available.

Legend Increase, Charm & Resources

If successfully complete, the Incident At Hiyoshi Pass will reward players with a minor Legend increase, a Minor Defense Charm, and Linen resources for crafting.

You will only be facing archers during this mission. Make sure to keep moving around so that the archers will not be able to hit you consistently!

Close The Distance Between You And Archers

Generally you can defeat archers by using your own bow and arrow. However, getting within melee distance against archers can allow you to quickly kill them and conserve your arrows for enemies in hard to reach places!

No Boss Fight In This Mission

This mission does not feature a boss fight. In order to complete this mission, all you need to do is follow and complete the objectives!

Ghost of Tsushima: Incident at Hiyoshi Pass

Ghost of Tsushima's Incident at Hiyoshi Pass  is a Tale of Tsushima about a hostage-taking situation that occurs at Hiyoshi Bridge where Jin has to save a boy from the Mongols that are shooting a barrage of arrows from below.

The plot is very similar to the early part of the film Seven Samurai, where a child was held hostage by a thief, and the villagers asked for the help of a samurai to save him.

The other quest that is very similar to the main plot of this film is Hammer and Forge .

Start of Incident at Hiyoshi Pass

You get the Incident at Hiyoshi Pass quest when you talk to an NPC in Hiyoshi Springs Inn . It is one of the NPCs with a speech bubble that you can activate.

Talk to this man and the quest will be acquired in your journal.

Peasant: My lord. The Mongols have taken the bridge leading into Hiyoshi Springs...

Jin: Many people travel that bridge. They'll be vulnerable to attack... I'll go there, see what I can do.

Peasant: Thank you, my lord.

Find the bridge between Hiyoshi and Ariake

You can use the Guiding Wind to find the exact spot where the quest takes place. While approaching the bridge, you will hear a man shouting to his nephew and to the Mongols.

Peasant: Be brave, Banta! We'll save you, my boy! Stop it, you animals!

Once you have reached the bridge, talk to the worried uncle.

Peasant: My lord! They've taken the bridge.

Jin: Tell me...

Peasant: We were running for Hiyoshi Springs. The bridge looked safe, but the Mongols were in the ravine. They started shooting from below...

Jin: Someone's injured.

Peasant: Banta. My brother's boy.

Jin: They're using him as bait. Tell your family to stay clear of the bridge. I'll stop this.

Rescue Banta from the Mongol archers

You will notice that there are lots of Mongol archers scattered on both sides of the bridge.

You can use your bow to do ranged combat, or just use your katana to eliminate them all.

Mongol: Keep screaming, runt!

Mongol: Your family's leaving you to die!

Mongol: (Laughs)

You will know that all the Mongols are defeated as Jin will comment on it himself.

Jin: That's the last of them.

Return to the bridge to inform Banta.

Peasant: Have they stopped shooting?

Jin: It is over. Go to your family.

Jin: The bridge is clear!

Speak with Banta’s uncle

Return to Banta's uncle and talk to him.

Jin: The Mongols are gone.

Peasant: Did they scream?

Jin: Their suffering isn't your concern. Take your family to Hiyoshi Springs. These roads are dangerous.

Peasant: We will. Thank you.

And with that, you have completed Incident at Hiyoshi Pass  side quest.

Charm of Unyielding I Reward

Completing the tale rewards you with a  Minor Defense Charm . This item is the  Charm of Unyielding I . 

• Moderately reduces damage taken while at 50% health or less.

The easiest way to start this this short and rather straightforward quest is to visit the area around the bridge connecting Ariake and Hiyoshi.

I heard shouting near the bridge over Hiyoshi Pass. I should make sure no one is hurt.

By talking to the various people you can meet on your way, you can make the starting position of this quest marked on your map.

Quest stages of Incident at Hiyoshi Pass

1. find the bridge between hiyoshi and ariake.

Talk to a man standing at one end of the bridge and you will learn that Mongolian archers have taken the sides of the ravine and are not allowing to cross the bridge safely. He will ask you to help eliminate them to save his nephew, who is stuck on the bridge.

The Mongols have taken the bridge leading into Hiyoshi Springs. A family was trying to cross when archers attacked and wounded one of their sons. I have to rescue him and open the bridge, even if that means hunting down every last Mongol archer.

2. Rescue Banta from the Mongol archers

Archers are on both sides of the ravine. You can shoot them with a bow or go down to them and kill them with a sword.

Once you've eliminated them all, you can go up to the bridge, approach Banta and tell him he's safe.

3. Speak with Banta's uncle

Then return to the boy's uncle and talk to him. This will end this quest.
