GhostBed vs Tempur-Pedic: Key Differences
- The GhostBed sells for less than every one of the Tempur-Pedic mattresses
- GhostBed has just one model with one firmness level, while Tempur-Pedic has an entire line of models with different feels and different firmness levels
- GhostBed has latex at the very top of its comfort layer, while Tempur-Pedic has memory foam at the top of its comfort layer in all of its models. As a result, GhostBed has a more resilient feel than the Tempur-Pedic models (with the possible exception of the Flex collection models)
- Tempur-Pedic has been around for a long time now, so there are many reviews of owners who’ve had their mattress for years. GhostBed is a newer company, so lots of review data spanning years isn’t available

Construction Notes
The main difference between the GhostBed and the Tempur-Pedic models is that GhostBed uses latex on the top of the comfort layer while Tempur-Pedic uses memory foam. This means GhostBed is bouncier/more resilient , while with Tempur-Pedic mattresses you slowly sink into the mattress . Which type of feel is better depends on your personal preference, so it’s something you’ll want to think about a lot before making a decision.
You can see a video of the GhostBed feel below.
Both companies uses quality materials that should be highly durable as well.

Note: the Flex models are made to be the exception for Tempur-Pedic in that they have a much more responsive feel than the Contour or Cloud models
You Might Want to Pick the GhostBed If:
- You Want a Little More Value – Because GhostBed cuts out the middleman, it is able to price its product at a level much lower than the different Tempur-Pedic models. This allows you to get more value out of your purchase.
- You Want More Bounce/Resilience – The latex used in the top of the comfort layer makes GhostBed generally bouncier/more resilient than any of the Tempur-Pedic models (with the possible exception of the Flex models). Whether this is a good or bad thing really just comes down to your personal preference.
- You Want a Breathable Mattress Without Paying Extra – GhostBed uses aerated latex and gel memory foam, which make for a mattress that does a good job of sleeping cool. Tempur-Pedic does have Breeze models that address the issue of sleeping hot, but you have to pay an extra $1,000 for them.
- You Don’t Want Anything Overly Firm or Soft – If you don’t have any special sleeping needs where you need something extra soft or firm, you’ll probably be a pretty good match for the GhostBed.
GhostBed Mattress

The GhostBed is a supportive bed-in-a-box mattress that is a great option for stomach sleepers, hot sleepers, and those looking for a value mattress.

We recommend this mattress for the following sleeper types:
Hot Sleepers
Back sleeping, stomach sleeping, financing options.
Financing options are available for this mattress.
You Might Want to Pick Tempur-Pedic If:
- You Want Firmness Options – If you know the exact firmness level you want, then Tempur-Pedic will provide you a number of different options. For example, if you just sleep on your back and like something extra firm, the Contour collection might be a better match than the GhostBed for some people.
- You Prefer a Slow-Moving, Sinking in Feel – Some people like slowly sinking into their mattress and having it envelop you. That is more the feel you get with Tempur-Pedic mattresses as compared to the GhostBed.
- You Want Years of Review Data – Tempur-Pedic has been around forever now, so you have the benefit of lots and lots of reviews from people who have had their mattress for a long time. That just isn’t possible yet with GhostBed, given how new the brand is.
TEMPUR-Adapt Mattress

The TEMPUR-Adapt is an excellent option for back sleepers and those who sleep hot at night and is more affordable than most other TEMPUR-Pedic models.
Free white glove delivery
Medium-firm: 6.5/10, 10-year warranty, note about motion isolation.
Tempur-Pedic is the king of motion isolation. That means when someone moves around on one side of the bed, the other person in the bed doesn’t really feel the motion. GhostBed does a pretty good job with it as well, but generally Tempur-Pedic mattresses have the edge here.

Note on Price
GhostBed cuts out the middleman and passes the savings onto the consumer. Tempur-Pedic sells into retail stores, who then mark the product up so they can make their profit. Given the difference in business models, GhostBed is able to price its product at a much lower level. Therefore, you can probably get more value out of the GhostBed than the various Tempur-Pedic models.
The two companies present very different offerings. I think if you really think about the type of feel you want and assess what your needs are, you should be able to make a good choice.

Helpful resources.
GhostBed and Tempur-Pedic craft high-end memory foam and memory foam hybrid mattresses. Thanks to unique materials, Tempur-Pedic and GhostBed mattresses are best for different types of sleepers. In this review, we’ll compare GhostBed and Tempur-Pedic to help you decide which brand holds the best mattress for you.
Comparison Overview
Ghostbed mattresses, mattress construction.
The original GhostBed mattress made its debut in 2015. What started with their flagship memory foam and latex hybrid mattress has expanded to a line of eight memory foam and memory foam hybrid mattresses.
Each of GhostBeds mattresses has a medium-firm feel and is made with cooling gel memory foam. Let’s take a look at what makes up some of the GhostBed mattresses.

GhostBed Classic
The GhostBed that started it all is one of the most affordable memory foam and latex mattresses we’ve tested. This 11” mattress balances contouring support with a cool, responsive feel that’s ideal for the average sleeper.
The GhostBed boasts a top layer made from aerated latex foam that rapidly responds to the body’s movements. The middle memory foam layer contains cooling gel that helps to dissipate body heat. When combined with the support layer of high-density polyfoam, the GhostBed is supportive enough for plus-size sleepers.

GhostBed Luxe
The GhostBed Luxe is GhostBed’s luxury memory foam mattress. With six layers measuring 13”, the GhostBed Luxe is one of the most durable all-foam mattresses we’ve tested at the Mattress Advisor lab.
The Luxe’s mattress cover is crafted from airflow fiber and cooling gel memory foam with a plush feel that relieves pain at pressure points. Underneath the cooling cover is the Ghost Ice layer that keeps sleepers cool and dry. The comfort layers include a cushy layer of memory foam followed by a latex-like foam that adds responsiveness. The final layer is a 7.5” base layer of resilient polyfoam.
When it comes to memory foam mattresses, the GhostBed Luxe is one of the coolest options available, earning it a spot amongst our best mattresses for hot sleepers .

GhostBed Flex
The GhostBed Flex is one of the best hybrid mattresses that we’ve tested at Mattress Advisor. Earning an 8/10 or higher in every category that influences sleep quality, the Flex supports restful sleep and eases aches and pains. Its medium-firm feel and springy support work best for back, stomach, and combination sleepers.
The Flex hybrid is made from six layers of foam, fiber, and innerspring coils. An ultra-soft and breathable fiber comfort layer tops 2” of gel-infused memory foam for a gently hugging sensation. As your body melts into the comfort layers, a 1” transition layer of GhostFlex foam limits sinkage. Below this is 8.5” of pocketed coils, achieving a responsive, cool, and supportive feel.

GhostBed 3D Matrix
The GhostBed 3D Matrix is a 6-layer hybrid bed that cushions pressure points. It’s designed to closely contour the body without the sinking feeling of memory foam.
Thanks to the Ghost Ice Cover and cooling 3D Matrix Polymer top layer, the 3D Matrix sleeps exceptionally cool. Five inches of memory foam and latex-like foam layers atop the innerspring support core mean ample cushion, great for heavyweight side sleepers. Back sleepers of every weight tend to enjoy the balanced feel offered by the 3D Matrix.
Best Features
We’ve spent hours testing the GhostBed mattresses at our in-house mattress lab. Here’s what sets GhostBed beds apart from other companies.
Every GhostBed mattress boasts cooling technology. Breathable covers, cooling gel-infused memory foam, temperature-regulating gel polymers, and airy innerspring coils all ensure that even the hottest sleepers find relief.
Responsiveness
Thanks to responsive latex and bouncy innerspring coils, you’ll never feel stuck on a GhostBed mattress. It’s easy to switch from one position to another, and even adult activities are more enjoyable on a responsive bed.
GhostBed mattresses are some of the most durable memory foam and hybrid beds that we’ve tested. Their high-quality materials and thick profiles mean a mattress that’s likely to last 10 years or more. Another perk of a durable mattress? They’re much better for sleepers who weigh more than 230 lbs thanks to sufficient support and longevity.
Edge Support
Another area where GhostBed mattresses excel is edge support. Each of the GhostBed mattresses has sturdy, comfortable edges. Couples who share a bed tend to prefer beds with solid edges as they allow you to spread out comfortably. Seniors also do best with supportive edges as they make getting in and out of bed easier.

Shipping, Returns, and Warranty
GhostBed ships free to the contiguous U.S., with additional shipping fees to Hawaii or Alaska. You can expect to receive your new mattress within 2-5 business days from the day you place your order.
As GhostBed is a bed-in-a-box retailer, their mattresses ship compressed into a tall, thin box. You don’t need to be home to sign for your new mattress; your new bed will be left on your doorstep.
GhostBed has an excellent return policy. You have 101 nights from the day your mattress is shipped to try it out in the comfort of your own home. If you decide it’s not the right mattress for you, you can return it within that time frame for a full refund. Because it takes time for your body and the mattress to adjust, GhostBed asks that you try out your new bed for 30 days before initiating a return.
Every GhostBed mattress comes with a 20 or 25-year warranty. Compared to the standard 10-year warranty, the GhostBed warranty is incredibly generous.
- Durable construction and impressive longevity

- Responsive feel makes it easy to switch positions
- Ample cushion and support for plus-size sleepers
- Sturdy edges allow couples to spread out
- 101-night sleep trial with free returns

Tempur-Pedic Mattresses
Tempur-Pedic’s cutting edge proprietary foam changed the mattress industry and enhanced the sleep quality of countless people worldwide. Over the past 30 years, Tempur-Pedic has expanded their mattress line to include both memory foam and memory foam hybrid mattresses. They’ve made countless innovations to improve their mattresses, but their original memory foam technology remains the backbone of their mattresses.
Let’s take a look at each of their mattress models, including their construction and who’s best served by each.

Tempur-Cloud
Tempur-Cloud is a 3-layer memory foam mattress made for the average sleeper. Made from a new Tempur material, it brings great pressure relief at a lower price point. Because it has minimal comfort layers, it’s best for sleepers who weigh less than 230 lbs.

Tempur-Adapt
The Tempur-Adapt comes with the deep, contouring feel of the original Tempur-ES foam. You can opt for an all-foam or hybrid model of the Tempur-Adapt. Each of these beds has a medium firmness level that balances the ultimate in pressure relief with reliable support.
The hybrid model is better for those who like a responsive mattress, such as couples or combination sleepers.

Tempur-ProAdapt
The Tempur-ProAdapt is the mattress for those looking for the ultimate in pressure relief without wanting to break the bank. It’s the least expensive Tempur-Pedic mattress with Tempur-APR foam, created for superior pressure relief.
As Tempur-Pedic’s most popular mattress, it comes in multiple firmness options and a hybrid model. You can choose from plush, medium, medium hybrid, or firm.

Tempur-LuxeAdapt
The Tempur-LuxeAdapt memory foam mattress is the best mattress for those who like a cradling, cloud-like sensation. Incredibly plush foams are used in the comfort layer, while Tempur-APR foam closely conforms to the body’s curves.
The soft option is best for side sleepers who require a generous cushion, while the firm works well for heavy side sleepers or back sleepers who like a deep contouring feel.

Tempur-Breeze
Tempur-Breeze is one of the coolest memory foam mattresses available. The ProBreeze model is 3° cooler than the average Tempur mattress, while the LuxeBreeze sleeps an extraordinary 8° cooler. The ProBreeze feels much like a cooler version of the Tempur-ProAdapt and the LuxeBreeze is like a cooler LuxeAdapt. As a result, the LuxeBreeze is plusher than the ProBreeze.
You can choose between soft, medium, medium hybrid, and firm options.
Here’s why Tempur-Pedic has remained a leader in the luxury memory foam space for decades.
Pressure Relief
Lying on a Tempur-Pedic mattress feels like your body’s sinking into butter. The plush give is balanced by close contouring that makes it feel like the mattress is hugging you. Whether you go with a plush, firm, or hybrid Tempur-Pedic mattress, the cradling sensation offers incredible relief at areas like the hips, shoulders, and lower back.
Diverse Mattress Selection
Tempur-Pedic crafts memory foam mattresses and hybrids that suit all sleeping positions. From plush mattresses that rate a 3 on the 1-10 firmness scale to firm beds that fall at a 7, all memory foam lovers can find a good fit.
Tempur-Pedic’s 5 mattress lines were created for diverse needs. Value shoppers, hot sleepers, and those who want the utmost in pressure relief will find what they’re looking for. What’s more, Tempur-Pedic’s most popular lines come in multiple firmness levels and a hybrid option.
Adjustable Bases
Tempur-Pedic is known for luxury. For those who want the best sleeping environment possible, Tempur-Pedic offers a line of adjustable bed frames. Some of the perks of Tempur-Pedic’s power bases include:
- Adjustable head and foot positioning
- 4-zoned full-body massage
- Zero gravity setting
- Under bed lighting
Adjustable bases relieve snoring and body pains, make it easier to get in and out of bed, and boost comfort when watching TV or reading a book in bed.
Great for Couples
Tempur-Pedic mattresses are some of the best beds for couples thanks to:
- Motion Isolation: High-density memory foam dampens motion transfer, helping couples sleep peacefully all night long.
- Cooling Technology: Thanks to shared body heat, couples sleep hotter together than apart. Tempur-breeze models sleep up to 8 degrees cooler than other memory foam mattresses, keeping couples cool and dry.

Final Breakdown: Which Is Best?
Tempur-Pedic and GhostBed are two luxury memory foam and memory foam hybrid mattress companies. While they manufacture similar mattresses, the way these beds feel is vastly different. These differences make the GhostBed better for some sleepers and the Tempur-Pedic better for others.
Tempur-Pedic is known for their luxurious cradling memory foam feel. When you imagine sinking into a cloud-like all-foam bed, you’re envisioning what Tempur-Pedic beds feel like. Their exceptional pressure relief is perfect for side sleepers, lightweight sleepers, and anyone who needs extra cushion at pressure points. With a variety of mattress lines, Tempur-Pedic is a great choice for anyone who loves the traditional memory foam feel.
GhostBed mattresses are better suited for those who prefer the feeling of sleeping “on,” rather than “in,” a mattress. GhostBed mattresses are exceptionally cool and durable, and they’re thick enough to support plus-size sleepers. These beds are much more responsive than Tempur-Pedic, making it easier to move around or have sex. Additionally, they’re less expensive.

GhostBed vs TEMPUR-Cloud: Which is Better for You?
The GhostBed is a foam mattress that combines memory foam and latex foam , whereas the TEMPUR-Cloud is made with layers of plush memory foam and high-density poly foam .
Those might not sound too different on paper, but these mattresses have really different feels. That also means that they are best suited for different types of sleepers! What position you primarily sleep in, your size and weight, and overall preferences are strong determinants of what mattress is best for you.

Medium-firm: 6.5/10, 10-year warranty, side sleeping, ghostbed vs tempur-cloud: similarities and differences.
Before I do an in-depth review of each of these beds, I want to give you a brief overview of their key similarities and differences. I’d also encourage you to check out the full GhostBed mattress review and Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud mattress review to learn more.
Main Similarities

- Both of these beds are all-foam bed-in-a-box mattresses that will ship compressed to your door.
- I don’t think either one of these beds will offer enough support to heavier individuals (over 250 lbs) . I’d recommend these sleepers look into hybrid mattresses .
- Stomach sleepers probably won’t get enough support from either mattress. They should look into our best mattresses for stomach sleepers to find a better fit.
Main Differences

- The GhostBed feels firmer than the TEMPUR-Cloud.
- The GhostBed is bouncier than the TEMPUR-Cloud, which offers more pressure-relieving sinkage. If you want to feel “on top of” the bed, the GhostBed is the way to go, but if you prefer a hug-like feel you’ll like the TEMPUR-Cloud better.
- The TEMPUR-Cloud is more expensive than the GhostBed .
- The GhostBed sleeps cooler than the TEMPUR-Cloud thanks to the latex foam in its top layer .
GhostBed and TEMPUR-Cloud Mattress Feel Comparison
Now that you know a bit more about each mattress, I’ll get into more detail about how each bed feels. Remember, feel is subjective, and a mattress will feel different to you depending on your size, shape, and preferred sleeping position .
For reference, I’m 5’ 9”, about 125 lbs, and prefer to sleep on my side. That means I might find these particular mattresses a bit firmer than the average sleeper.

I gave the GhostBed a 7 out of 10 on the mattress firmness scale . The mattress industry standard for medium-firmness is a 6.5 out of 10, which means that the GhostBed is a firm mattress .

I think this firmness level could work particularly well for back sleepers . It should help them achieve a neutral spinal alignment , which could prevent back pain in the long run. I felt much more “on top of” than “stuck in” this GhostBed, and it was really easy to move around and change positions on this mattress. So combination sleepers should also enjoy the GhostBed .
The aerated latex layer in this GhostBed helps it sleep cool . If you’re a hot sleeper , I’d definitely opt for the GhostBed over the TEMPUR-Cloud, which traps a bit more body heat .
TEMPUR-Cloud
I gave the TEMPUR-Cloud a 6 out of 10 on the mattress firmness scale . That means this is a soft to medium-soft mattress. Unlike the GhostBed , the TEMPUR-Cloud offers a ton of pressure-relieving sinkage and body- contouring . You definitely feel more “in” than “on” this mattress.

The TEMPUR-Cloud is a great option for side sleepers who need a bit of pressure relief around the hips and shoulders. I think back sleepers who enjoy a soft feel and some contouring at the lower back could also enjoy this mattress.
Couples might also like the TEMPUR-Cloud. Though it does sleep a little hot, it isolates motion well. This means that you won’t feel movement from one side of this bed on the other side. So the TEMPUR-Cloud could be a good solution if you’re easily disturbed by your partner’s movements at night.
Comparing What it’s Like to Sleep on the GhostBed and the TEMPUR-Cloud
I mentioned earlier that different mattresses are best suited for different sleepers, so in this section I’ll go over how I think sleeping position and body type will affect people’s experiences of the GhostBed and TEMPUR-Cloud.
Back — The GhostBed is a great choice for back sleepers all around! It provides comfy support as you lie on your back, with just a bit of contouring , depending on your body weight.

Side — I wouldn’t recommend the GhostBed for side sleepers of any weight, as I think it’s just too firm . Side sleepers need a bit more softness and pressure relief to ensure there is no pain buildup in the hips or shoulders.
Stomach — Light stomach sleepers should do well on the GhostBed , as it will offer enough support to keep their hips elevated properly. However, average to heavy stomach sleepers will sink in a bit more and will likely find their hips sinking too far into the mattress, which can cause the spine to be out of alignment.
Body Weight — I think the GhostBed can work for any weight category , depending on sleeping position . Lighter people will likely find the GhostBed to be a touch firmer, whereas heavier people will probably find it to be softer.
TEMPUR-Cloud
Back — The TEMPUR-Cloud should work well for light to average weight back sleepers! Lighter back sleepers may find it a touch firmer, but both groups should feel plenty of plush comfort and pressure relief . Heavy back sleepers may sink right through the plush foam, so I’d recommend something firmer.
Side — Light to average weight side sleepers should love the TEMPUR-Cloud! The foam provides plenty of contouring around the shoulders and hips that’ll keep side sleepers comfy all night long. I’d especially recommend this bed to average weight side sleepers . Again, I think heavy side sleepers will sink through the comfort layers down to the base, so I’d recommend a more supportive bed here.

Stomach — Because the TEMPUR-Cloud is so plush, it’s not the best mattress for stomach sleepers of any size . I’d recommend something firmer to ensure that stomach sleepers’ hips are elevated and in alignment with the shoulders to prevent any lower back pain .
Body Weight — I’d primarily recommend the TEMPUR-Cloud to light and average weight sleepers. I think it is lacking the support heavier sleepers need. If you fall in the heavier weight category, I’d recommend taking a look at our roundup of best mattresses for heavy people to find the right mattress that offers proper support. Hybrid and innerspring mattresses are also a good place to look for more supportive beds.
Comparing GhostBed and TEMPUR-Cloud Prices
Price plays a huge role in choosing the best new mattress for you. Take a look at the chart below to compare pricing and sizing. The GhostBed is cheaper than the TEMPUR-Cloud, but remember to check our Tempur-Pedic mattress coupon and GhostBed mattress coupon pages for deals before making your final decision.
Prices listed will be before discount or offer for each size.
Comparing GhostBed and TEMPUR-Cloud Mattress Materials
Now that we know how these mattresses feel and who they might work best for, let’s take a look under their covers to learn even more about each bed.
Cover — A cooling mattress cover made of a viscose and polyester blend helps promote airflow throughout this mattress.
Comfort Layer — A layer of naturally cooling aerated latex foam comes next. This top layer has a quick response to pressure, which means you’ll feel more “on” than “in” this mattress.
Transition Layer — A gel memory foam layer eases you down into the base of this bed and adds a bit of pressure relief to the mattress.
Foundation Layer — A high-density polyfoam base offers support and durability to this bed.

Cover — The TEMPUR-Cloud is covered in 360° stretch fabric. This moisture-wicking material adds a little breathability to the mattress.
Comfort Layer — A TEMPUR® foam layer comes next. This layer feels like a traditional memory foam layer . It has a slow response to pressure and offers deep body- contouring at the shoulders, hips, and lower back.
Transition Layer — A layer of firmer TEMPUR® foam eases the sleeper into the support layer below.
Base Layer — The TEMPUR-Cloud’s support core is made of high-density support foam. It offers structure and stability to the rest of the mattress.

GhostBed vs TEMPUR-Cloud: Best Qualities

GhostBed vs Tempur-Pedic: Detailed Mattress Comparison

When comparing GhostBed vs. Tempur-Pedic mattresses, both companies have valuable industry knowledge and experience. These mattress experts provide all customers with the most comfortable night’s sleep ever. Upon first glance, they share several mattress specifications, including type, firmness, and thickness. But their own makeup is what sets each companies mattress type apart from the other, and more so the considerable difference in price tag! This article compares GhostBed vs. Tempur-Pedic, namely the original GhostBed mattress and the all-foam TEMPUR Adapt mattress. Looking at specifications, comfort levels, sleep positions, customer service, and indeed prices, we consider whether the increased price difference is worth it here, considering their similarity in comfort levels.
- Quick Comparison
Launched in 1992, the Tempur brand took the unique path of attempting to construct a mattress using NASA developed research. The result is a material, unlike any other ordinary memory foam on the market. Offering pressure relieving and groundbreaking material throughout, alongside the ability to arrange finance on their mattresses, this is perhaps one of the most expensive brands on the current market – but with this high price tag comes the accolade of being named the most highly recommend beds in America.
Established in 2001, GhostBed was created by the company’s CEO who himself was fed up of struggling to find a supportive mattress. After three neck surgeries, Marc L. Werner invented his own pillows and mattresses which could support his neck and back and allow him to sleep and indeed live without constant pain. Almost two decades later, this mission continues to provide an innovative and industry-leading pain-free mattress design – but one which is more affordable on the broader marketplace.
- Mattress specifications
- Construction
When briefly comparing these mattresses against one another here, both offer similar mattress specifications but different construction properties. With the exact same thickness level of 11″, both are also a foam type design. However, the further we look into their specifications, the more differences begin to show. The Tempur-Pedic is a full 10lbs lighter than the GhostBed, while the Ghostbed offers more firmness in its Medium Firm 6.5 level, as opposed to the Tempur-Pedic Medium 5 Level.
The deeper we delve into the construction; the difference becomes further apparent here. The GhostBed uses a three system design of polyfoam in its support core and two differing comfort layers consisting of latex and gel memory foam. The Tempur-Pedic mattress differs significantly here with its unique, and only found in this mattress, memory type of foam, with a solid polyfoam support core.
With a similar sleep trial, The GhostBed offers ten years more on their warranty as opposed to the Tempur-Pedic. However, perhaps the greatest of both CentriPUR-US models here is their price! With the Tempur-Pedic retailing at $2099 and The GhostBed at $865, this is probably where the two really do differ significantly.
The comfort factor of a mattress is absolutely crucial, and it pays to get this right first time. On average, we as a nation will spend a third of our lives sleeping, so the comfort level of the mattress we lie upon every night needs to be able to accommodate us much here.
Experts suggest that the right mattress will on average last us for around the seven-year mark. However, for it to be good enough to serve us this long, it has to be constructed and designed in a way that will stand the test of time.
Obviously, being able to spend as much as you can in this market will enable you to select from the most supportive and indeed most comfortable of mattresses here.
When opting for the best GhostBed or Tempur-Pedic mattress, we recommend focusing your attention to factors such as firmness and support, temperature control, motion transfer, responsiveness, resilience and bounce, edge support and perhaps that of inflation time, off-gassing and smells.
- Firmness and support

The GhostBed assumes the best firmness level here as a Medium Firm 6.5 choice. Therefore, it has the balance just right whereby it’s not too hard and not soft but correctly in between the two. Consequently, you can be assured of the correct support throughout the night as you sleep, regardless of your sleeping position, while equally assured that it will provide a good level of comfort as well. You’ll also be able to wake pain-free through such an ideally placed comfortable and supportive construction,
The Tempur-Pedic mattress is a Medium 5 level mattress. For many people who don’t like the concept of sleeping on a firmer mattress, this is also an ideal balance of comfort and support, though not quite as supportive as The GhostBed model. The foam material used in the Tempur-Pedic mattress, which is unique to this brand, more than makes up for the less firm rating here offering support through its comforting advancing materials used.
Finally, with both mattresses offering a thickness level of 11″, this composition ensures a fantastic support core with just the right level of height.
- Temperature control
To ensure we sleep deeply, peaceful and without constantly waking throughout, our body temperature needs to remain at a steady and stable level through the night. This means maintaining just the right temperature to keep the body comfortable but also refreshed.
Unfortunately, when we fall asleep our body temperature has a natural tendency to vary greatly, especially if there’s no control from the mattress itself. This tendency becomes more problematic when the outside temperature changes as well.
Thus, it’s worth ensuring your mattress can offer an excellent level of temperature control. It should be able to do this by dispersing the heat from your body and keeping your body temperature at a stable one for the length of your sleep.
The GhostBed mattress boasts a claim as one of the most cooling mattresses in America. This is primarily due to its cooling gel memory foam which is inserted into the middle of the mattress makeup, alongside a plush aerated latex which resides at the top of this mattress and encourages a cooler sleeping surface.
Equally, the Tempur-Pedic mattress boasts a cover which uses a premium knit technology in its design. This results in a cover which is completely cool to the touch and therefore able to reduce body heat all over the sleeping surface.
- Motion transfer

The GhostBed is claimed to offer a good level of motion transfer, but it is not mentioned as one of its generated features, and some customers rate this area of the mattress lower. Though it’s suggested it will isolate motion to some extent, it isn’t done as much as those more average of foam latex mattresses.
The Tempur-Pedic, on the other hand, claims to provide a very good level of motion transfer. In fact, it’s often referred to as one of its key strengths by many. This is because of its abilities in its unique Tempur material to significantly minimize any transfer to a very good extent.
- Responsiveness
The conforming elements of a mattress indicate how responsive it is when you place pressure upon it. Those mattresses that have a good level of responsiveness will be able to work to the way you individually lie as you sleep and continue to respond to your body shape and position as you turn throughout your sleep. This should work well here no matter whether you’re a back, side, front, or combination sleeper.
The GhostBed has been designed with a perfect level or responsiveness in its material, which allows it to work well to alleviate most aches and pains. This is because it conforms closely.
Once again, utilizing its advanced designing system, the Tempur-Pedic mattress also offers fantastic conforming properties. It is especially useful for targeting the source of pain and relieving pressure, encouraging an improved spinal alignment throughout.
- Resilience and bounce

Both mattresses excel in terms of their duration, with claims that they have a longer than average longevity and therefore the more improved of all-around performance.
Regarding bounce, neither mattress can claim to offer much in the way of this, but this is due to the nature of their foam layers and study makeup. Therefore, they are both perhaps the better solution when it comes to sharing the bed throughout the night with a partner.
- Edge support
Whether you tend to sleep more towards the edge of the bed or whether you like to be able to sit on the side of your bed without rolling off, an element of edge support in your mattress will provide help here, though you won’t necessarily be able to see it visually
Though neither mattress makes any grand claims about having edge support, because of their fantastic overall surface support they do provide an element of excellent support towards this part of the bed. However, it’s claimed that they are both naturally susceptible to sinkage around the edges if this area’s used solely over time.
- Inflation time, off-gassing and smell

The GhostBed mattress once unboxed will begin to expand, as soon as you remove its plastic protective wrapping. It’s recommended that you allow a few hours to a whole day for it to reach its full size before using.
The Tempur-Pedic can be placed on the bed and used almost instantly as it doesn’t require any inflation time. This is because it is delivered in a giant cardboard box, as opposed to being folded up into a smaller box.
As both mattresses are CertiPUR-US certified, they have low VOC, meaning both are better for indoor air quality. This should assure that neither has a gassing off or smell present. Though some customers report a new product smell on both mattresses, this does disappear very quickly and is no cause of concern on either model.
- Sleep position ratings
Both mattresses are useful for ensuring a more comprehensive range of sleepers and sleeping positions are catered for here. However, the GhostBed doesn’t fair well for light stomach sleepers. In terms of the best overall sleep positions rating, it’s the Tempur-Pedic mattress which edges it here.
- Sizes and pricing
- Customer service
The customer service of both GhostBed and Temp-Pedic are said to be some of the best in the industry! With both offering proper sleep trials and a full refund if you aren’t happy with your purchase, both companies deliver throughout the US.
Also, though the Tempur-Pedic 10-year warranty is itself fantastic, the inclusion of a 20-year warranty from Ghostbed is undoubtedly a major attraction!

- In conclusion
When making that all important final decision as to which mattress is best, the GhostBed or the Tempur-Pedic, comfort and feature wise, it’s a hard one to call.
However, unless you have a personal preference as to each brand name, we believe the winner here has to be the GhostBed.
Though the GhostBed has no extra leverage over the Tempur-Pedic, and they both offer an equal amount of comfort and support, we feel the heftier price tag of the Temper-Pedic is an essential factor when it comes to choosing here.
We feel that the GhostBed lives up to the same fine and high standards of the Tempur-Pedic – but doesn’t require that almost eye-watering of outlays to achieve such sleeping comfort!
With an aim to catering to sleep perfection, that is the philosophy behind the GhostBed, and the concept of this model being designed by a person who experienced first-hand neck and back pain through poorly constructed mattresses, we feel the GhostBed just pips the post when it comes to a winner here.
Ultimately, both mattresses are well deserving of a five-star quality rating, and both do work hard to deliver some fantastic results; of this, there’s no denying. But, if you’re looking for a good quality mattress which will stand the test of time and offer relief throughout its life span, we thoroughly believe the GhostBed provides all this and much more at a very reasonable cost indeed.

Tempur-Pedic vs. GhostBed Overview
Tempur-Pedic and Ghostbed are two of the most well-known mattress brands on the market. While both of these companies are recognized for creating excellent products, there are many factors that determine which type of bed is best for each individual.
Who Should Choose the Tempur-Pedic Mattress?
- Combination sleepers with heavy frame: Heavyweight back sleepers and stomach sleepers will find the Tempur-Pedic both comfortable and supportive.
- People who want hybrid options: The Tempur-Pedic mattress has different variations like the Tempur-Adapt Mattress and Tempur-ProBreezeMattress.
- People who want white-glove delivery with lower shipping costs: Better customer service doesn’t have to break the bank with the Tempur-Pedic Mattress.
Who Should Choose the GhostBed Mattress?
- Couples: Couples need a mattress that works for both partners, absorbs rather than transfers motion, and has good edge support. As a medium-firm, all-foam bed with sturdy edges, the GhostBed has everything we want in a mattress for couples. We even included it on our list of best mattresses for couples .
- Price-conscious shoppers looking for a latex bed: All-natural latex mattresses cost more than your typical mattress. But by using synthetic latex foam along the top layer, the GhostBed delivers latex’s unique benefits at an affordable cost.
- Back sleepers: The best mattresses for back sleepers gently contour without sagging, which provides a balanced feel. The GhostBed achieves this feel, thanks to medium-firm comfort layers and a firmer base layer.
Tempur-Pedic vs. GhostBed: Top Similarities
- Great for Couples: Both the GhostBed and TEMPUR-Adapt do a good job isolating motion, helping couples sleep more soundly.
- Not Ideal for Most Heavyweight Sleepers (> 230 lbs): The all-foam design of these beds isn’t as supportive as an innerspring or hybrid mattress. The only exception is the hybrid version of the TEMPUR-Adapt, which could adequately support heavyweight side sleepers.
- Firmness Level: Both beds have a medium-firm feel with memory foam either on top of the mattress (TEMPUR-Adapt) or as the transition layer (GhostBed).
Tempur-Pedic vs. GhostBed: Top Differences
- Construction: The GhostBed and TEMPUR-Adapt are both three-layer all-foam beds measuring 11”, but the GhostBed has a latex foam top layer and the Adapt is topped with memory foam. The Adapt also comes in a hybrid model.
- Pressure Relief: The Tempur-Pedic mattress boasts superior pressure-relieving properties. This difference is thanks to the deeply contouring feel of Tempur-ES foam, compared with the surface cushioning of GhostBed’s latex foam.
- Responsiveness: The GhostBed is more responsive, so it’s easier to switch positions and get out of bed in the morning. The TEMPUR-Adapt has the traditional memory foam cradling feel that’s not the easiest to move around on.

Tempur-Pedic vs. GhostBed Mattress Performance Ratings & Differences
The tempur-pedic 3.5/5.
With decades of expertise making memory foam beds, it’s hard to not love TEMPUR-Pedic. The TEMPUR-Adapt is the baseline memory foam mattress model they offer and is sure to deliver a return on your investment.
The GhostBed 4.7/5
GhostBed is a medium-firm, affordable latex mattress that suits most sleepers. Featuring cooling gels and excellent responsiveness, this mattress is a great catch-all option.
Temperature
The GhostBed contains one of the coolest comfort layers around, making it nearly as cool as a typical innerspring mattress. The naturally cool latex has breathable holes that keep the surface cooler than the TEMPUR-Adapt and most other all-foam beds. If you love memory foam and also sleep hot, the TEMPUR-Adapt hybrid option is almost as good for hot sleepers as the GhostBed.
Motion Transfer
Memory foam mattresses like the TEMPUR-Adapt provide the best motion isolation—which means you’re less likely to wake up when your partner makes waves on their side of the mattress. While the GhostBed’s minimal motion transfer is good enough for most couples, you’ll probably feel some of your partner’s movements due to the bouncy feel of the latex top layer.
Edge Support
Sturdy edges matter if you and your partner like to spread out or if you sit on your mattress when getting ready. The GhostBed’s edges are more supportive than those of the TEMPUR-Adapt. The latex foam along the GhostBed’s surface is not quite as soft as the Adapt’s memory foam, and latex is a bit grippier, too. With that said, neither mattress has great edge support.
Pressure Relief
The TEMPUR-Adapt boasts the pressure-relieving memory foam that’s made Tempur-Pedic popular for decades. It’s the way that the memory foam responds to body heat by molding to your curves that make the Adapt a good fit for many side sleepers, while the GhostBed’s latex top layer is a touch too firm for these folks.
Pain Relief
Both the TEMPUR-Adapt and the GhostBed are great picks for back sleepers, but the TEMPUR-Adapt is better for side sleepers and the GhostBed for stomach sleepers. This difference is because the Adapt’s top layer has more give, while the GhostBed has a touch more lift and support.
Durability
GhostBed and Tempur-Pedic are mattress companies known for using high-quality materials. In terms of longevity, we expect the GhostBed to last a year or two longer than the TEMPUR-Adapt thanks to the resilience of the GhostBed’s latex layer. This layer is less likely to form body impressions over time than the Adapt’s soft memory foam layer.
Also, the GhostBed’s warranty is twice as long as the Adapt’s, which speaks to how long GhostBed believes its mattresses should last.
Shipping, Returns, & Warranties
Tempur-pedic .
There are several prominent differences when it comes to shipping and returns between Tempur-Pedic and Sleep Number mattresses. Tempur-Pedic beds have a $25 shipping fee , which includes white-glove delivery. You can also request an old mattress removal, which is included in the shipping fee.

Tempur-Pedic & Sleep Number FAQs
What is the average life of a tempur-pedic mattress.
The Tempur-Pedic mattress will last all sleepers a good five to eight years before replacement. The different hybrid models such as the Tempur LuxeBreeze that are more expensive can even last up to 15 years. Overall, the Tempur-Pedic is a high-quality mattress that will last years and years.
Is the GhostBed good for back pain?
As a medium-firm latex and memory foam mattress, the GhostBed offers excellent spinal support to back sleepers under 230 lbs. It also supports the lower back of stomach sleepers under 230 lbs, though those with back pain may want an even firmer mattress for optimal spinal alignment.
Are GhostBed mattresses made in the U.S.?
The GhostBed is made in the U.S. by Nature Sleep, a respectable company that’s been around for 15 years. This is not just another marketing company trying to get in on the new mattress-in-a-box fad; it is an established mattress company taking advantage of this newly popular distribution model.

These mattresses provide solid edge support and doesn't sag greatly when adding pressure to the sides. If a mattress isn't even in its support, some may find the mattress uncomfortable. Luckily, these mattresses are evenly supportive across the surface of the mattress.
Ghostbed's Durability

Great mattress at a great price - matthew s..
I received ghost mattress promptly as well as my foundation. I was thrilled I did'nt have to go to a mattress store and everything was delivered at my convenience. I sleep great and I love the ghost pillows as well.
Not what I dreamt - Mark N.
Though the Ghost bed is way better than what we had, it is not as comfortable as we expected. The first week was great. But after that, the back and hip pain was back, though not as bad. The Ghost bed is much too firm for me.
Love it! - Taylor H.
I’ve had my Ghost Bed for a little over a month and it’s been a great experience! I had forgotten to apply my promo code and checkout, and the customer service team was an incredible help at getting it applied and getting me refunded for the additional amount. The bed is incredibly comfortable and feels like laying down on a cloud at the end of a long day. I got two pillows as well and they’re great at keeping me cool throughout the night.
Comfortable bed - jose s.
Comfortable bed
Must have this bed! - korey c.
After 7 years of sleeping on a hand me down queen mattress, me and my wife finally said it was time for a new bed. We looked all over, shopped all the stores and online. We then came across this bed called a ghost bed! Let me tell you, this bed has changed our sleep and our mornings. We now don't wake up all sore and stiff but now instead we feel so well rested and ready for our day. Thank you ghost bed, I highly recommend this bed to anyone searching for that great night sleep and a wonderful morning. Thank you again!
Super comfortable - Cristine G.
I chose this bed because it was highly rated yet firmer than many other similar brands. It arrived and opened up to full size and shape very quickly, with almost no foam odor. We’ve been sleeping comfortably ever since!
Awesome - Tony J.

The new love of my life: king size mattress review - Michelle R.
My husband and I recently purchased a king size ghostbed mattress. For both of us it was the first new mattress we have ever owned. It is the most comfortable mattress we have ever slept on. When we get home from work we (including my toddler) go straight to the bed to watch tv in the room while sitting on it. Our family can't get enough of this super comfy bed. We are loving it and it is the new love of my life! THANK YOU GHOSTBED!!!!
Amazing night's sleep - robert j.
The hands down best bed I have ever slept on.
Ghost has the most - Amanda R.
Very comfortable I look forward to laying on it each night to sleep. It is comfortable and already so much better than the 400 dollar mattress I purchased.
It’s a yes for me! - Noah M.
I wasn’t really worried when I started reading the reviews and the return policy. Worth it!
Love this best after many - Britni A.
Love this best after many years of having a used mattress the ghost bed was life changing. I actually wake up feel well rested instead of tossing and turning all night.
Works Great - Lisa C.
I have severe arthritis. My old bed was soft but not supportive. This is firmer -which worried me at first- but is just what I needed.
Great bed - Breanna T.
We love this bed! Im now able to sleep on my back with no pain and my husband has stopped waking up sore. I would definitely recommend this bed!

Fabulous!!!!
Amazing price, Amazing bed - Clyde A.
I couldn't be happier. I have neuropathy in my feet from chemotherapy and have to have my feet elevated anytime I'm not standing. I've been using a pillow under my feet for elevation and it hasn't always been comfortable. My kids said they'd buy me an adjustable bed for Christmas and I researched and researched. I didn't want them spending a lot of money. This bed was very reasonable so I decided to purchase it. Wow! I've only slept on it for 3 nights so far and I've slept 11 hours each night. The zero gravity position is perfect for my neuropathy. I love to sleep on my side and back and this bed is perfect for that. I can honestly say that I'm in love with my bed! However, I'm not a T-shirt kinda gal but love to wear them with leggings but they have to be extremely oversized. If you have a 3x to send me, I'll wear it and advertise for you.
Love this mattress! - Brooks H.
We are very pleased with this purchase! It’s a very comfortable mattress.
great bed - Judith F.
I brought this bed for my son for Christmas he says it is like sleeping on a cloud, he loves his new bed. He is thirty years old and says it is the best bed he has ever had. Might get myself one also when my present bed needs changing.
Queen size ghost bed - Nettie L.
Since I purchased the ghost bed I have been getting a better nights sleep and do not wake up during the night and am also sleeping longer. I am also awaking more refreshed and not in pain. This has been a very good purchase and I will recommend this bed to everyone.
Ghost bed - Lonnie T.
The bed is awesome!!
Ghost bed - Michael F.
So far, I would rate the ghost bed queen size a 4 Star, because I have slept on it only one night but I have no complaints. I will follow up with a more detailed review in a month or so. The ghost pillows on the other hand, are amazing. I have used the pillow for about a month now and will never use another pillow any time soon, that is for sure. You really have to try it to see what I am talking about because I cannot explain in words how amazing the pillow is.
No more back pain - Kate C.
I have been waking up with a sore back for the past year. After only a couple nights of sleep on my ghostbed my back is no longer sore.
Best Bed by far - Dean T.
This is the best bed I have ever owned and probably ever slept in. I usually don’t sleep well at night but this bed has made a world of difference. If you are thinking about getting one get it and it will change your sleep.

Awesome - justin w.
Best nights sleep I have had in years!
Incredible value! - Michael K.
I can’t say enough good things about this mattress. It was so easy to buy and set up. The only complaint I have is that now I can’t wait to go to bed every night! It’s so comfortable.
Best purchase we made in 2017! - Jennifer C.
We bought the king-size Ghostbed based solely on the Consumer Reports recommendation, and boy, did it pay off! Some of my aches and pains are gone (*gone!*), and it's just such a comfortable night's sleep for both of us. My husband and I were on vacation last week at a pretty nice resort, but we realized — the bed, even in a nice hotel, wasn't half as comfortable as our Ghostbed at home. So glad we made the leap of faith!
Good - Angelica g.
My husband has no more back ache
I love the bed very - David M.
I love the bed very Comfortable

Good night! Really! - Louise P.
All the little aches and pains I used to wake up with - and just considered part of the aging process - have disappeared. I have never slept so well. It’s always been the accepted belief that the elderly slept fewer hours at night. Not if they have a GhostBed! Best investment ever!
This bed is ridiculously comfortable. All my previous back-shoulder pain has been relieved. - Colton P.
I was told I’d get two free pillows with my purchase of a bed shortly after January 1. When my bed arrived, there were no pillows. What the fuck?
good stuff - Michael C.
Mattress is great, pillows are a bit too stiff for me to sleep on but great for propping me up when watching TV in bed.
Ghostbed review - Kelli B.
The bed is amazing, it set up quick. And so far has done really well with it being cold in our house! The pillows are also super comfortable!
Have Enjoyed Bed - Hunter J.
I have really enjoyed my new Ghost Bed. The whole process or ordering was super easy and incredibly fast. The softness of the bed is a perfect fit for me. The only issue I'm having with the bed is that it is sleeping a little hot and I am waking up sweating very often.
Ghostbed Queen Matress - Elisabeth W.
We’ve only had the mattress for over a month therefore only 4 stars because I dont know how it will hold up after a year. I’m assuming we wont have any problem with sagging and etc. The box arrived promptly and it was easy to bring up to my second floor appartment. We opened the box and got the mattress out of the shwrink wrap and placed it on our queen platform bed. Very easy. And within an hour, at the most it had regained its shape. I love it and so far my sleeping experience is very good.
So giving it a try. - Pat G.
Well I am giving it the 31 day trial. My lower back has been sore after waking up. I read some reviews and this is a common complaint. So if not better then I will be asking for refund/return.
I love my Ghost Bed. - Carl R.
I've had my king size Ghost Bed for about a month now and love it. I've been sleeping through the night consistently since receiving it. Great bed, much better than my old sleep number.
Wonderlust sleep - Azucena C.
It’s amazing! You’ll feel like your floating. It’s firm but soft at the same time. I’ve had back problems for many years. This bed has minimized those pains and aches. I feel refreshed in the morning. I don’t want to leave my new bed. Yes, it’s that good

Because my back is full of rods nuts and bolts, finding the right mattress wasn't looking like it was possible until I tried my Tempur-Pedic breeze. When your in pain, you tend to feel hot. Not only is this bed comfortable, I can always find that cool spot that helps with the pain. I had another adjustable bed, it was great, but after 15 years, it was time to replace it. I used to have to sleep with a pillow under my knees, no more. Whatever Tempur-Pedic has done, they've done it right. I'm grateful, I'm sleeping and wake up rested. Thank you
Most comfortable and cool of the tempur-pedic
We previous had the Tempur-pedic rhapsody which we loved but. The new temper breeze is firmer and much cooler than the old version. We absolutely love it! No more back pain!
Disappointing
We are very disappointed with the comfort of our new bed. I believe that our old mattress was more comfortable.
Never will own anything else
We were hooked on tempur pedic from the first time!! Worth every penny, no other mattress will be in our home!!❤❤❤
JURY IS STILL OUT
While the bed definitely has helped with significantly reducing pain from my long standing back issues, it sleeps quite hot despite the fact I am using a Tempur Pedic mattress cover and sheets. It has also resulted in some shoulder and neck pain. I will give it a few more weeks.
Best Purchase ever !
I has owned a memory Foam temperpedic for 12 years This new Breeze Firm mattress compares to NONE ! I've ever tried ! It's not too firm it moves with you It's most comfortable mattress I have ever tried , and in almost month since purchase I have Better sleep , cooling affect has been excellent! Never feeling too warm ! The Firm is exactly what I needed and wanted ! Perfect Fit ! I also bought the cooling pillow ! It's remarkable ! I am so happy I splurged on myself and got both of these .. no more dips from the old mattress ! No more hot , mattress or pillow ! I have severe lumbar stenosis and My back has Actually stopped burning &aching ! I couldn't be more comfortable!
Comfortable from day 1
This is by far the best mattress I have ever slept on. No getting used to. It was comfortable from day one. I slept like a baby, something I have not experienced in a long time. The Pro-Breeze medium hybrid was the perfect choice for me. I have degenerative joint disease and recently had TKR surgery. I should have gotten one of these a long time ago. I highly recommend this mattress. I am also very happy with the service I received from mattress specialist Philip at the Carle Place NY store. He was very knowledgeable, patient and professional. Great shopping experience. Thanks Philip!
Wonderful mattress
We have had the queen size tempur-breeze pro hybrid for about 1 month and are very pleased with it. My wife was waking up with back pain and me with hip pain from our 15 year old firm inner spring mattress. The temple-breeze memory foam adjusts perfectly to our bodies. We are both side sleepers. We did not need a break in period and there was no odor, as others have complained about. The cooling aspect of the mattress is very unique from other memory foam mattresses and really does seem to draw the heat away from you body and keep the temperature cool. I do recommend if at all possible to buy from a tempurpedic store. The sales people are very knowledgeable and will recommend the best mattress for your sleeping position. They also have a much bigger selection to try out than other stores. When we purchased there was a President's Day sale and we saved $500 plus got a $300 credit we used against the cost of pillows and a mattress cover. The mattress was still expensive but when you consider how long you use one it is well worth the cost. I now look forward to a good night's sleep.
Awesome mattress and sheets
Love this mattress, we sleep much better and the sheets are a wonderful feet and soft like silk.
better sleep
our first tempur-pedic lasted for 17 yrs, great bed, made a mistake and went with a number bed on the next one. my wife and I hated if for 4 long yrs. now we have went back to a tempur-pedic and we love going to bed everyday now. lesson learned tempur-pedics' from now on.
Get LuxeBreeze not ProBreeze
ProBreeze was too hot aftt ty we about 1 hour. Exchanged it for LuxeBreeze 8•
Very Disappointed - Hot and uncomfortable
Wake up feeling like we slept on the floor. It's cool to the touch when you first lay down, but in the middle of the night it's hot just like all beds. Very disappointed that we spent twice as much for a regular mattress and it is so uncomfortable. Return policy is not customer friendly!
Went from a 7 yr old Serta I comfort to a tempur-pedic luxebreeze soft, and Wow what a difference, we absolutely love our bed. It has been so comfortable since day one.
A little hard getting used to, but am liking it better now and have been sleeping well. Think I'm going to like it.
My mattress is so comfortable
My mattress keeps me cooler just as instructed. The mattress is very comfortable
We love it!!!
We bought the bed when we moved to our new home, love it!!! My husband is able to sleep all night for the first time in months, and I love the feeling of the mattress meeting your body when you move!
Finally a bed that does what it promises!
Absolutely love my new mattress! We can move without pain or disturbing eachother, its completely silent. We sleep longer and awake refreshed. It truly has been a wonderful experience.
This has been amazing from the start!!! Better nights rest equals better quality of life!!!
the most uncomfortable mattress Ive ever owned
I have had more back pain, cricks, and chiropractor visits since owning this mattress. Waste of money. You need support and this mattress does not do it. Take it from this doctor, this mattress is all hype.
Best night sleep ever
Simply the best night sleep I have ever had. I have not had such a deep sleep in such a long time. It truly is like sleeping on a cloud. I also got the the cloud pillow and no more stiff neck. The best investment. I got my queen size tempur breeze lux soft with adjustable frame October 2019 and have been sleeping better. Make the investment you will thank yourself many times over!! Do it now!
The cooling is amazing!
The mattress is unbelievably comfortable, but living in hot weather it is the cooling that has been a game changer for us. It has allowed us to get a much better night's sleep!
Hate this mattress
Hurts my shoulders. Nothing like the store sample, which was comfortable. Hate it!!!! Can't say "hate it" enough.
New purchase less than 3 days and It's okay
Bought for the cooling feature. Luxe Breeze soft- After applying the Tempur Mattress cover and a very thin sheet, the cooling is gone. I have slept for 2 days in this bed which is the most expensive mattress for a full king(no split) and I have woke up sweating throughout the night. I also have figured out that if the room is cool then there is no soft conforming of your body. You must have a warm room to make the mattress even barely soft. I purchased this because I am a hot sleeper and to take these night sweats away by at least 50%, so far I can't justify the money I've spent. I called the manufacturer and they advised that I must use a protector cover on the bed to protect my warranty but if I can't feel any cooler after applying the cover and a sheet then why should I keep this bed. I will update before the sleep trial to see if my thought has changed. The adjustable option is awesome, no so much so far on the mattress keeping me 8 degrees cooler.
Highly Satisfied
My wife and I knew that the Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze was the mattress that we were going to purchase from the moment that we laid on it. It's cool to the touch and provides comfortable support.
The best mattress I've ever owned
For the first few nights, I needed to adjust to the firmness, but now, I literally can't wait to get home from work, eat dinner, and get in that bed. The adjustable base makes it so comfortable to watch TV, and I've never slept better. Those little aches and pains that you wake up with are gone with this mattress. You may not even realize that you have these little pains, until you start sleeping on a TempurPedic. Within a week, you'll see a difference in how you feel in the morning. I love my bed. Thank you, TempurPedic!
Best bed ever. Like sleeping on a cloud
Firm, cool, perfect sleep regardless of the position. It's really a good night's rest
Finally found the perfect bed for me.
I'm 5' 11'' and 170lbs. This bed sleeps great on my stomach, back and side. I'm primarily a side sleeper and wake up much less and do not feel the need to toss and turn to relieve pressure points. I previously was trialing a 6k Intellibed that couldn't even come close to the support and pressure relief that this offers. Also, a little tip, I use a really low profile pillow on this because it allows my shoulders to get into the mattress more and align my spine better. My wife has the all foam version but I like the added support that the pocket coil system provides. I've watched and read so many different mattress reviews, and know more about mattresses than any regular person should. I can finally be done with that - this mattress is a keeper.
Best money we've ever spent!
For years my husband and I have both suffered from back pain and rarely are able to sleep through the night because of that pain. Since we got our new beds (we got two Twin XL's and separate adjustable bases), my husband, for the first time since I've known him, has slept LONGER than I have! He will sleep through my alarm and will sleep until after 7 am! For an army man and 1st shift worker, this is huge. We are both finally able to find comfort and sleep well. Additionally, we are both very warm sleepers and while it hasn't made a huge difference, this mattress is absolutely cooler than any other one we've ever owned. Every night since we've gotten our new beds, I've looked at him and said, "I LOVE THIS BED". I know the price can be intimidating, however, it is 100% worth it! If you are looking for comfort, Temper-Pedic is the way to go. Bite the bullet and spend the money. I promise, you will not regret it.
Best purchase
We were told it would take 120 days until it contoured to our bodies completely. It was a little strange the first few nights but it's been over a month now and I am starting to tell how much more better sleep I am getting, my body feels rested and not as sore, and I really love how much the bed doesn't shake my husband when I jump into bed! The only thing I do not care for is the protective cover for the mattress it came with. It feels like I am lying on paper. I finally took it off and it feels better without it. I also wish it came with king size pillows too.
This is our second Tempur-Pedic. Our first one lasted eight years, and they stood behind their full guarantee. We got another a Tempur-Pedic because we so enjoyed the first one. This one seems even better! Great company, great bed, and a good night of sleep!
Love it. Sleep better from day 1.
Quality Sleep With Plush, Cool, Even Support
Purchasing a Tempur-Pedic mattress product was always in mind when a mattress replacement was due after my first experience on a Tempur-Pedic during a business conference hotel stay. We are extremely pleased with the cool, plush, even support of the LuxBreeze Soft mattress provides.
Not transformative for me
Although it is a little more comfortable than my previous mattress, I certainly do not find it a "transformative" or life-changing experience. I am two months into my 90 day trial and I am still considering returning it. I have wanted a Tempur-pedic bed for many years but could not afford it. so when I finally decided to take the plunge and spend the money, I was very excited to own one. However, in the end I am rather disappointed in the product.
Very comfortable
I love the adjustable head and foot sections.
Return Buyer.
We owned our first Tempur- Pedic bed for 15years. When it was time to get a new matters we recycled our old CA. King to a family in need. We then went out and bought a new XL Twin Split with adjustable base. This is a little slice of heaven after a long day. We can relax and unwind. The adjustable base is worth every penny. Some days I use it as a lounger just to relax. I'm not a huge fan of the message feature but the grand kids think it's cool.
A little bit of heaven!
I love this mattress. The comfort is out of this world. Well worth the price.
We went from a soft bed to this I was like what did we do. We were like this thing is a brick. But after a few days it began to give for a great nights sleep. I am a big guy with 7 ruptured disc in my back and neck and usually toss and turn every 30 minutes at night and am now just turning 2 times a night and am sleeping great. I love the bed. Just give it a little while to break in.
Soft luxe breeze
First I purchased the firm option but found it way too firm woke up with body aches so I changed it to soft. What a difference ! I like a soft bed i upgraded from a icomfort savant medium . So glad I did
Probreeze bed and pillow
The bed is very comfortable and gives very good support. However, the pro breeze pillow is much too thick and was a total waste of money.
Our 5 year search is over.... Perfect Sleep is here!
For a little background, over the last 5 years, my wife and I have slept on virtually every high profile bed in a box out there. Casper, Purple, Helix, Yogabed, etc. We even bought an Intellibed. But we were unhappy with all of them. It's a bit embarrassing to admit, but we were sleeping on those because our previous Tempurpedic Rhapsody model began to break down after 7.5 years of loyal service. We left it at our old home which become a rental unit that was converted into a furnished rental. We thought we might try to replace it with a less expensive option like the ones listed above. Long story short, that was a terrible idea!!! We have been sleeping on our LUXEbreeze 8F cooler mattress for a month or two at this point and we both wonder what the heck is wrong with us that we didn't do this years ago! The Ergo adjustable base combined with our new mattress is just perfect. This is also the first time we've done the split King so we could each be in a different position and it was the perfect choice. She's 110lbs and I'm 200lbs so we have very different needs but this bed serves us both perfectly. I probably sound like a paid advertiser at this point, haha, but I assure you I am not. I'm simply a thoroughly satisfied customer who spent 7 years in the desert and rediscovered paradise, haha! It's certainly not the least expensive mattress out there, but it's undoubtedly the best.

GhostBed Adjustable Bed Frame Review
If you’re not already familiar with GhostBed, they’re a bed-in-a-box mattress company with quality mattresses for a really fair price. They also bring what the industry calls “affordable luxury” to the adjustable bed frame game, since theirs is designed with just about everything you can want in a bed frame, but the price is incredibly reasonable. This review will focus on the brand’s adjustable bed frame, the many different features it offers, and how much we liked it once we finished testing.
GhostBed Adjustable Bed Frame Video Review
The ghostbed frame set up process.
Your adjustable base should ship to you in about 2-5 business days, and it’ll show up on your front porch in a large box about the size of a large table top.
Setting up the GhostBed Adjustable Base is simple , and should only take you about 10-15 minutes with two people, or 15-20 minutes with one person. You don’t need to drill a bunch of pieces together like you do for a piece of IKEA furniture, and the manual is pretty easy to follow if you need it.
How Do I Set Up My GhostBed Adjustable Bed Frame?
Design and highlighting features.
The design of the GhostBed Adjustable Base is pretty contemporary and neutral, so it should blend in with any room color and decor. The fabric around the border is a dark grey color, and the entire base is constructed out of steel, including the bar that keeps your mattress in place.
Dimensions And Storage

It’s 11” off the ground when it’s flat, leaving you enough room to store bins with your seasonal clothes, luggage, or extra bedding. The head of GhostBed’s adjustable base gets 39” off the ground at its highest, and the foot gets about 15” off the ground at its highest.
It’s pretty handy to use the space under your bed for extra storage, and we’ll tell you there’s a decent amount of it underneath GhostBed’s base.
This adjustable base comes in three sizes; twin XL, queen, and split king . Those are the standard sizes that you see with adjustable bed frames.
One thing that’s worth noting is that if you want a king size bed frame, you have to purchase two twin XL’s and sync them together when they arrive at your home. Instructions on how to sync your bed frames together should be included in your manual, or you can look it up on the company’s website.
Remote And Features

Like we said before, this bed frame is fully loaded with a ton of features. We’ll start off with one of our favorites, the beloved head and foot massager.
There are three different preset positions including TV, zero gravity, and lounge, plus the anti-snore mode . The TV and lounge buttons are supposed to put you in the optimal position for watching television and reading, and the Anti-Snore button is for when you or your significant other starts to sound like a lawn mower starting up.
Massager – There are a total of 15 massage modes you can choose from, and you can set a timer to make the massage last up to 30 minutes for those rough days when you need a good stress relieving session. The noise from the massager is noticeable, but it’s not to the point where it’s obnoxious or distracting from your relaxing massage.
Zero Gravity – Our favorite setting though, has to be zero gravity or the “ZG” on the remote. It was first discovered by NASA for their astronauts to use to simulate a weightless feeling, and it levels out the force of gravity across your whole body to relieve pressure and improve circulation.
Under-bed Light – There’s also a pretty strong light underneath the base so you don’t have to find your flashlight every time you’re searching for something deep under your bed.
USB Ports – The last feature we want to highlight on GhostBed’s adjustable bed frame are its dual USB ports on both sides of the frame, which we think come in really handy when you have several things on your nightstand taking up the only outlet near your mattress.
Price Of The GhostBed Adjustable Base
We mentioned how GhostBed’s adjustable bed frame is considered affordable luxury, so you can expect the price to be about $1,000 for a queen size . If you want to purchase the extended warranty with it, the price for a queen goes up to almost $1,400. You can see the current price/offers on GhostBed’s website .
If you’re looking for a bed frame with all the additional features, we think GhostBed’s has a pretty great value . If you’re somebody on a tight budget, however, there are a few other more affordable adjustable bed frames you can look into like the Lucid L300 Adjustable Base , or the Classic Brands Adjustable Base .
GhostBed Adjustable Base Review Verdict
So do we think the GhostBed Adjustable Base is worth the money? We’re going to confidently say yes on this one. We think it’s up to par with the quality of the Nolah Adjustable Base , but GhostBed’s base is more affordable in many cases. So if you’re looking for a fully loaded bed frame and you have the means to spend around $1,000 on one, we think this one is a pretty good choice.

GhostBed Company Policies
First of all, every GhostBed Adjustable Base comes with a lifetime limited warranty . This means certain parts are covered for the entire time you own the base, and others aren’t. You’re entitled to a full year of repair coverage for parts, labor, and transportation costs. You do have the option to purchase an “extended warranty” though, which will fully cover the cost of parts, labor and freight expenses for another three years. We always suggest folks look into the details of a product’s warranty, so head over to their website to get more information about it.
You’ll also get free shipping when you purchase GhostBed’s adjustable base which is great, but we don’t love their no return policy. Unlike their mattresses, all sales on this product are final.
It was sent to us for free by GhostBed so that we could test it.
Besides their adjustable base, products include mattresses, sheets, a foundation, a mattress protector, and a pillow.
Yes, it should work with any footboard and headboard, even if it has slats or rails.
The brand recommends you use either GhostBed or GhostBed Luxe, but essentially any all-foam mattresses and most hybrid mattresses will work.
The outside is fabric, but the support system itself is metal.
GhostBed offers the twin XL, queen, and split king.

How our experts selected the best adjustable beds
Based on our expert consultations and research, we determined the following factors to be important for our readers when shopping for an adjustable bed:
Trial period
- Delivery and setup
- Brand reputation
- Special features
- Number of size options
We created a scorecard that included each of these parameters, which guided our recommendations of the top adjustable beds. The scores weighted key factors, such as price and features. It comes with dual USB charging ports, height-adjustable legs, and a one-touch preset to easily adjust to a zero-gravity position.
Vanessa Ling , a member of our Reviews Team, shared her experience testing the Puffy adjustable base. “I liked that the bed’s motor was quiet during adjustments. Although this base offers massage, it’s more like a slow thumping rather than a massage chair type of hum,” she said. She also noted that the remote control has a flashlight and two memory presets so you can program your favorite settings.
Use the wireless remote control to change your adjustable base’s position.
Puffy offers the longest trial period—101 nights—of all the adjustable beds on our list. It also comes with a lifetime warranty that covers defects in workmanship and materials for as long as you own the adjustable mattress base.

- Affordable pricing
- Limited features
Score : 4.2 out of 5
Original price: $1,499

The Nectar Adjustable Bed Frame is our Reviews Team pick for best value because it offers basic features, quality construction, and a generous trial period—50 days—at a reasonable price. This adjustable mattress frame is equipped with preset buttons for anti-snore and zero-gravity positions, adjustable legs, USB ports on both sides of the base, and two customizable memory buttons to save and return to your favorite sleeping or lounging positions. It also offers two-zone massage (head and foot can be operated together or separately) with three intensity settings.
This model also comes with a three-year warranty; shorter than most, but enough to assure buyers that any major structural or mechanical issues will be covered. See our in depth Nectar Review for more information.
The Nectar Adjustable Bed Frame works with any mattress that is compatible with an adjustable bed frame. In general, that includes most foam and hybrid mattresses, but check with the manufacturer to confirm. All Nectar mattresses are compatible with this base and come with a one-year trial period and a lifetime warranty.
Our top mattress recommendation from Nectar is the basic Nectar Memory Foam Mattress because of its shift-resistant lower cover, therapeutic gel memory foam, cooling cover, 365-night sleep trial, and lifetime warranty.

The Purple Premium Plus Smart Base is an adjustable bed with features that allow you to fine-tune your position beyond simply elevating the head and foot of your bed. This model allows you to adjust the upper-body, foot, and neck positions as well as the amount of lumbar support you prefer. To remember your favorite positions, you can set up to three custom presets on its remote—the most we’ve found among the competition. It’s our pick for the most customizable adjustable bed.
You can control the bed position and massage programs with the Purple Premium Plus Smart Base remote and Purple mobile app.
Our Reviews Team liked that the Smart Base gives you multiple ways to control your adjustable bed. It comes with a remote control and can also be controlled via its mobile app on your smart device.
Purple offers in-home delivery and setup free of charge with the purchase of a RestorePlus or RestorePremier mattress, but costs an additional $200 when you buy any other Purple mattress.
Purple adjustable beds are final sale and don’t have a trial period.
All Purple mattresses are compatible with its adjustable base. If you’re getting a king-sized Purple Rejuvenate mattress, it requires two twin XL adjustable bases (the same as a split king adjustable base) rather than a king adjustable base. The company suggests pairing the Premium Plus Smart Base with its RestorePremier mattress as its design maximizes the benefit of lumbar support.
Our top mattress recommendation from Purple is the Purple NewDay Mattress because of its two-inch GelFlex Grid system that adapts with each movement for pressure relief, temperature balancing materials for cooler sleep, edge-support foam that makes it easier to get into and out of bed, and 100-night sleep trial.

Reviews about its adjustable beds only mentioned its discontinued model. Positive reviews cited experiencing better sleep with their Purple mattress and adjustable base combos. Reviewers who didn’t like their adjustable bases were unhappy that they could not return them.

7. Best for Advanced Features: Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Ergo ProSmart Base

- Automatic snore response
- Well-known business established in 1992
- Mobile app and sleep insights may be overwhelming
Score: 3.5 out of 5

Sale price: $2,299

In fact, according to our recent survey , this brand was the most popular among our respondents, with nearly 22% purchasing Tempur-Pedic.
This bed is designed to automate and upgrade your sleep experience, offering sleep coaching and automatic snore detection. Tempur-Pedic’s Sleep Tracker-AI technology and companion app allows you to view sleep insights and patterns, set custom positions and alarms, and monitor your sleep habits to improve your overall sleep quality.

The zero-gravity preset elevates the head and foot of the bed slightly to reduce pressure on the back.
The Ergo ProSmart Base has head and foot adjustability with a zero-gravity preset position, whole-mattress massage, under-bed lighting, built-in USB ports, and a wireless remote. This Tempur-Pedic adjustable bed can also connect to smart home devices like Amazon Alexa and Google devices so you can adjust the bed with your voice.
There’s no mention of mattress compatibility on the Tempur-Pedic adjustable base product pages, but the online chat representative confirmed to our Reviews Team that the Ergo ProSmart Base is compatible with any Tempur-Pedic mattress. They also mentioned that any mattress compatible with an adjustable base is compatible with the Ergo ProSmart Base, but if you plan to use your current mattress, check with your mattress manufacturer for compatibility.

8. Best for Caregivers: Reverie R650 Adjustable Power Base

- Unique full-body tilt feature
- Massage feature has 10 intensity levels
- Make adjustments using the mobile app or wireless back-lit remote
- Free white glove delivery
- Delivery can take up to three weeks
- Not appropriate for everyone
Original price: $2,299 (does not include price of mattress)
Sale price : None
Sizes available: Twin XL, queen, king, split king, California king, split California king
Warranty: 20 years
Reverie R650 Adjustable Power Base offers full-body tilt, a unique feature that angles the entire base and mattress in a head-up or head-down position. You can couple the full-body tilt with head and foot adjustments, like zero-gravity or anti-snore presets, or keep the base flat and utilize the tilt alone.
Brittany Ferri , PhD, an occupational therapist based in Rochester, New York, wouldn’t recommend this bed for everyone. Dr. Ferri told our Reviews Team that this adjustable base is most appropriate for those with caregiver or family support to ensure the safety of the user. “It could be helpful for someone with severe, persistent pressure ulcers in hard-to-reach places that could really benefit from additional blood flow. This is where caregiver support would come in—to ensure the patient slowly descends from that position and can safely return to seated, horizontal, and more functional positions without any adverse side effects, like fainting or dizziness,” said Dr. Ferri.
If you’re looking for advanced adjustability in a bed, you should also consider alternatives. A hospital bed may be a better choice for caregivers who need to perform transfers and address medical conditions, and your insurance might cover the cost if your doctor recommends it.
Reverie recommends using one of its mattresses due to their ability to flex with all of the base’s movements. Reverie mattresses are custom-constructed with foam springs and allow each sleeper to select their desired mattress firmness.
Our top mattress recommendation from Reverie is the Dream Supreme II Natural Mattress because of its natural, plant-based latex comfort layer and foam springs, customizable and adjustable springs for preferred firmness, minimal motion transfer, and removable cover.
You can reach Reverie customer service in the following ways:
- Phone (888-888-5990) available 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday
Reverie has a D- rating from BBB, and is not accredited. It also has a customer review score of 1.21 out of 5 stars based on just 35 reviews. Reverie does not have a profile or any reviews on Trustpilot. Negative reviews mention issues with customer service and issues with the motor and remote control of the adjustable bed.

9. Best Adjustable Bed and Mattress Combination: Sleep Number Climate 360

- Customize firmness, positioning, and temperature
- Mattress comes with a 100-night trial
- Offers sleep tracking through the mobile app
- Large price tag
- Must pay $49 for old mattress removal
- No trial period or returns for the adjustable base
Score: 3.58 out of 5
Original price: $9,999 (price includes mattress and base)
Sale price : $8,499
Sizes available: Queen, king, split king, FlexTop king, California king, split California king, FlexTop California king
Warranty: 15 years
Sleep Number offers Climate 360 , an adjustable base and mattress combination with customizable positioning, temperature, and mattress firmness. You can control all of these features on the free Sleep IQ mobile app on the App Store or Google Play , or purchase a wireless remote for $49 on the Sleep Number website. If you download the app, you’ll be able to track your sleeping patterns on a dashboard and evaluate your sleep quality over time.

See your sleep insights and customize your settings using the Sleep IQ app.
If you’re looking for a king or California king size, you can choose the split or FlexTop configurations. A split style will divide the entire base into two sides, which requires two mattresses. But a FlexTop style configures the split base so that only the head of the bed adjusts independently. This requires a mattress that’s divided at the head while remaining whole at the foot. Both split and FlexTop options allow you to customize features independently on both sides (except the foot of the FlexTop), so you don’t need to compromise with your partner on settings.
Keep in mind that this is a more costly option and there’s no trial period, which means you can’t return your purchase. Before you buy, consider trying out the model at a local Sleep Number store .
The Climate 360 mattress is not sold separately from its adjustable frame, the FlexFit 3 Smart Base. But you can purchase the smart base separately and pair it with any of the Sleep Number mattresses listed online.
You can contact Sleep Number in the following ways:
- Phone (888-411-2188) available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. CT, Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT, and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CT
Sleep Number has an A+ rating and a customer review score of 4.56 out of 5 on BBB based on more than 3,700 customer reviews. Reviews on Trustpilot are more negative, with a score of 1.4 out of 5 and only 138 reviews.
Most positive reviews praise Sleep Number customer service. But negative reviews report faulty products, like mattress air chambers that fail to inflate over time. They also report having to pay for repairs. Although the 15-year warranty may cover defects described in negative reviews, customer support informed our Reviews Team that coverage starts at 65% for the first year, then decreases by 5% after each year.

10. Best for Older Adults: Casper Adjustable Base Max

- Wall-aligning movement
- Neck tilt features
- Customizable preset positions
- Only available in four sizes
- Delivery, setup, and old mattress removal costs $199
Score: 4.1 out of 5

The Casper Adjustable Base Max includes many standard adjustable bed features as well as unique features that could help older adults in particular. It has four-zone massage, position presets for anti-snore, zero-gravity, and flat sleeping, and two user-programmable memory buttons to save your favorite positions. This adjustable mattress base for older adults can be set at one of three height options: 5 inches, 7 inches, or 12 inches. It also features a built-in USB port to charge your tablet or smartphone.
For older adults experiencing reduced flexibility and range of motion, the wall-hugging feature, which keeps you in the same position relative to things around you, keeps your bedside items accessible. The neck tilt feature also helps position the bed to make it easier to get into and out of bed, which reduces the risk of injury. These finer adjustments can also help with repositioning for comfort and pressure relief while in bed.
The Casper Adjustable Base Max is compatible with all Casper mattress models. Many offer different firmness zones across body regions, like the shoulders, hips, waist, and lower back, to promote comfort.
Our top mattress recommendation from Casper is the Casper Original Mattress because of its signature foam with air-flow technology, pressure-absorbing memory foam, soft knit cover, and 100-night sleep trial.
You can contact Casper customer service in the following ways:
- Phone (888-498-0003) available 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET, Saturday and Sunday
- Contact form and live chat on the website, available 24/7
Casper is a BBB-accredited business with an A+ rating , although the brand has an average customer review score of 1.11 out of 5 stars based on 28 reviews. On Trustpilot, Casper has 3.7 out of 5 stars based on more than 6,000 reviews. Positive reviews mention satisfaction with the comfort of the beds. Negative reviews mention problems with delivery times and poor customer service.

While there are other suitable options, not every adjustable bed made the cut. We considered many adjustable bed bases beyond our top 10, including the below models from Serta, DreamCloud, and Lucid.
Serta: The Serta Motion Air Adjustable Base is a decent option if you’re on a budget. But beyond the wireless remote and silent motor, it doesn’t offer much in terms of advanced features, like USB charging ports, smart technology, or customization.
DreamCloud: In addition to smart features and an easy-to-use remote, the DreamCloud Adjustable Bed Frame offers an anti-snore setting and targets sleepers who experience back pain. But it’s not the best option for couples who have different sleep habits and isn’t the most affordable option on the market.
Lucid: The Lucid L300 Adjustable Bed Frame is a budget-friendly option that comes with a programmable remote and USB ports, but that’s about it. Unfortunately, this adjustable bed does not come with massage options. Plus, the brand recommends a mattress as thick as 12 inches for maximum comfort, which could make it hard to get in and out of bed for some older adults experiencing reduced mobility.
What to consider when buying an adjustable bed frame
Adjustable beds come in a variety of sizes, like twin XL , queen, split queen , king, and split king adjustable beds .
Here are the most important factors to consider when purchasing an adjustable bed frame:
Mattress compatibility
Weight limit, delivery and assembly, sleeping alone vs. with a partner.
Adjustable bed prices can range from around $1,000 to more than $5,000 for the most advanced models. The price of an adjustable bed depends on many factors, like the number and type of features included and the reputation of the brand. According to the results of our recent survey of adjustable bed owners, both price and features were the most important factors to respondents.
Before shopping for an adjustable bed, it’s important to decide whether you’ll also need a new mattress. Purchasing a mattress along with your adjustable base can easily double the cost.
For older adults specifically, an adjustable bed frame may improve quality of life. “If an adjustable bed provides a better quality of life in their current environment, then it may be worth the investment,” said Erin Blakely, a licensed nursing home administrator with a master’s degree in social work specializing in gerontology. “The costs of an adjustable bed may be offset by being able to stay living independently longer.”
Some of the most commonly offered features are outlined in the table below.
Zero-clearance vs. non-zero-clearance
Some adjustable beds are standalone pieces, while others can be used with your current platform bed, which is where zero-clearance comes in. A zero-clearance base can be placed on top of the panels on your existing platform bed to make it compatible with an adjustable bed base. On the other hand, a non-zero-clearance base stands on its own and is not meant to be used with an existing bed frame.
Before purchasing an adjustable bed, you’ll want to decide whether you plan to buy a new mattress or keep your current one. This decision will affect your overall budget, as a new mattress can cost as much as (if not more than) the adjustable bed base itself. If you plan to purchase a new mattress with your adjustable base, check which mattresses are compatible with each model. Most adjustable bed brands will recommend one of their mattresses to ensure proper fit.
Innerspring mattresses are generally not recommended for use with adjustable bed bases. Due to their construction, the metal springs are not designed to withstand the flexing and bending of an adjustable base.
The stated weight capacity of an adjustable base is related to the ability of the mechanical parts to move the mattress with weight on top of it. While a bed in a flat position can likely support the stated weight limit (or more), the motors and parts involved in raising and lowering portions of the bed can get overloaded and break or malfunction under more than the stated weight limit.
Note: If you sleep with a partner and are looking to purchase a split model, the weight limit refers to each side of the split bed base. If the stated weight limit of a split king adjustable bed is 650 pounds, that means the split base can accommodate 650 pounds on each side.
A trial period refers to the return window, or period of time you can use your adjustable bed and decide to either keep it or return it. If you are unsure if you will enjoy an adjustable bed, you may want to select an adjustable bed with a long trial period.
Warranty coverage for adjustable beds varies from no warranty coverage up to a full lifetime warranty. The wording of warranty policies can be confusing, so it’s helpful to understand the warranty before purchasing your adjustable bed. Most warranties will cover original workmanship and materials for a certain period of time.
Warranties may or may not cover electrical components, and typically adjustable bed warranties do not offer coverage for any damage caused by improper use, like exceeding the weight limit or water damage. Also pay attention to whether the warranty covers any labor or shipping costs.
Delivery and assembly options are important factors to consider when buying an adjustable bed, especially for those with physical limitations. Many adjustable bed brands offer the option of “white glove delivery,” which means delivery and setup of the adjustable bed in your home. Once assembly and delivery is complete, the delivery team will remove all shipping and packing materials, leaving you with nothing to clean up.

Most survey respondents stated that it was important to buy from a brand that removes their old bed for them.
If you decide against white glove delivery, or choose to buy a model that doesn’t offer it, you will be responsible for assembling the bed yourself.

We asked survey respondents to rate their experience setting up their adjustable bed themselves, from easy to very difficult.
When you consider the features you’d like to have in an adjustable bed, you also need to consider your partner’s needs and preferences when making your selection. This can be as simple as choosing a split base so you and your partner can adjust your positions independently, but there are additional considerations. For example, automatic snore adjustment (the bed detects snoring and responds by raising the head) could disrupt you or your partner’s sleep.
Pros and cons of adjustable beds
Before you make the decision on whether an adjustable bed is right for you and your sleep needs, make sure to weigh the pros and cons.

- Incline position may offer relief from health conditions, like sleep apnea and/or snoring

Those who love bouncy mattresses : this has a classic slow-moving feel and just a little bit of bounce from the coils inside. So, if you are looking for a bounce and quick response, this is not for you.
Top Features compared – Top Features compared
Construction .
The Ghostbed is a high-end all-foam mattress with cooling components. They produce high-quality mattresses (check 10 mattresses with great comfort ). What makes them stand out is their multiple cooling components, cooling cover, and proprietary cooling gel memory foam layer on top of the memory foam layer. A lot is going on in the Ghostbed. It is 13 inches tall and has a cooling cover called the ghost ice fabric . It is very cool to the touch. The cover includes some cooling fiber and has gel memory foam right on the cover.

Next, you have this layer of gel memory foam that has a classic slow-moving feel to it. On top, you also have some ghost ice material that is cold to the touch. Overall, it has slow sinking properties on top of the mattress.
Next, you get a layer of ghostbounce foam. This is more responsive foam and adds a bouncy feel to the mattress. Below that, you have a layer of high-density standard supportive foam. One of the main purposes of this mattress is to keep you cool, so you have all those components in it. Overall, it is constructed to be a cooler sleeping mattress.
The Tempurpedic is here to save the day if you are looking for a super comfy hybrid memory foam mattress (check the best selling hybrid mattresses ). Let’s talk construction first. The cover on top is a thin breathable fabric that allows air to flow through. Moving down, the top comfort layer of the mattress has that classic Tempur material.
It is a new formation of this material and has that very classic slow-moving tempur feel. Below that, you get a layer of Tempur support foam which is firmer and slow-moving. This adds some bounce, comfort, and support. Beneath that, you get your main support layer.
Firmness and Feel
Since the Ghostbed is an all-foam mattress, in terms of firmness, it scores a 7/10 on the firmness scale. It has more than average firmness and is a little more on the firmer side. You have some soft layers on top, but they get firmer beneath that. So altogether, it is a 7/10. Speaking of feel, the Ghostbed has a slow-moving memory foam feel. If you push your hand into the mattress, you will see that it takes a while to get back into place. Since this is a memory foam mattress , you should not expect a lot of bounce. It is a slow-moving mattress, and it’s not easy to move.
The Tempurpedic also has an overall slow-moving memory foam feel. You get a bit of bounce from the deep coils within the mattress, but overall it has that slow-moving Tempur feel. Once you lay on the mattress, you will slowly sink in. conditions of firmness lie 6.5/10 on the firmness scale, so overall not too firm or too soft. Just a medium firm mattress .
Motion Isolation and Edge Support
If you sleep with a partner, you want to think about motion transfer. For example, if you are lying down on one side and your partner on the other, will you feel your partner’s movements or not? The Ghostbed did well on the motion transfer test. It absorbs and isolates any movements and motions well.
Your partner can move as much as they want, and you can sleep cool and calm on your Ghostbed without feeling a thing. Another thing that you might and should be concerned about is edge support. If you are sitting down or lying on your bed, do you feel secure or like falling off at any second? On the Ghostbed, you will feel the mattress collapsing a bit if you are a large-bodied person. If you lay down on the edge, you can feel amazing edge support, and it does not feel like you will fall off or roll off the bed.
Motion isolation and edge support, the Tempurpedic does an okay job. It does a fantastic job of isolating movements, making it a great mattress for couples . You won’t feel a thing, and that is guaranteed. However, it does an okay job in edge support when you are either sitting on the edge or laying down. The mattress collapses, giving you a feeling that you will fall off the edge. This feeling, however, might be different if you have a petite body figure.

Temperature
This aspect is crucial, especially if you sleep hot and are looking for all foam mattresses . All foam mattresses are known to trap heat , so you need something to counter that effect. The Ghostbed has been in the industry for ages and has come up with the perfect temperature regulating solutions. It has used a fabric infused with cooling fibers in its cover and gel memory foam too. Below that, it has a layer of its Ghost ice material that feels cold if you even place your hands on it. Using these multiple cooling techniques and technologies helps with temperature regulation and lets you sleep cool.
On the other hand, the Tempurpedic has a breathable cover and coils that promote good airflow. Besides these, there is nothing else to counter all the heat that memory foam traps. Suppose you are a hot sleeper. You might not enjoy sleeping on the Tempurpedic.
Position and Body Type
Now, let’s see how the Ghostbed performs in different sleeping positions. Starting with back sleepers, it seems to be a good match for those who sleep on their backs . It has a nice balance of comfort and support. Since it is a bit firmer than average, this will be a great match, especially for people with larger body sizes (check 10 amazing mattresses for overweight people ).
Next, it is a good match even for side sleepers . It does feel a bit firm at first, but once the memory foam feels kicks in, you experience some amazing pressure relief on your shoulders and hips (also check the best selling mattress toppers for hip pain ). However, if you are s stomach sleeper and fall on the larger body size spectrum, you will feel that your hips sink into the mattress, leaving your body out of alignment. So, not a good match. This might work for your sleeping stomach if you have a petite body.
The Tempurpedic is also good for back sleepers. It offers a good balance of comfort and support. You will find that your hips sink in the right amount, offering good lumbar support . It is also an amazing mattress for side sleepers . It provides a great amount of pressure relief on your shoulders and hips.
The thick comfort layer makes you slowly sink into it with almost no pressure in any of these areas (also check the best selling mattress toppers for pressure points ). Lastly, this is not a good match for stomach sleepers. You will find that your hips bow a little bit, and your body gets out of alignment, especially if you have a larger body size. It might work for someone on the smaller side.
Price Range
The Ghostbed and Tempurpedic offer a lot for their price. Tempurpedic mattresses are not for customers looking for affordable options. The Tempurpedic starts at a whopping $1899 for a twin bed and goes up to $ 3798 for a split king (check 10 good split king mattresses ). Even with the discounts being offered, this might not be easily affordable.
On the other hand, the Ghostbed starts at $945 for a twin and goes up to $1533 for a split king.
How long do Ghostbed and Tempurpedic mattresses last?
The Tempurpedic mattress tends to last longer, around 10-15 years with proper care. The Ghostbed lasts around 8-10 years on average before needing to be replaced. The Tempurpedic has a longer warranty at 10 years vs 20 for Ghostbed.
What is the warranty for Ghostbed and Tempurpedic mattresses?
Ghostbed mattresses come with a 20 year limited warranty. This covers defects in materials and manufacturing. Tempurpedic has a 10 year full replacement limited warranty if the mattress has a defect covered under the warranty.

Both of these have a lot to offer, and at the end of the way, your choice should depend on what you need and want for your sleep. Whichever ticks most boxes should be your pick. Both of these are focused on temperature regulation .
Neither of these mattresses comes cheap, and that is justified by the overall performance, materials used, and quality of these two mattresses. The Ghostbed, however, is still more affordable when compared to the Tempurpedic , even with discounts being offered on them both.

Ghostbed's cooling technology is the product of over 20 years of research and testing. Tempur-Pedic is a household name known best for their memory foam mattresses. While they both offer comfortable beds, they're very different.
Tempur-Pedic mattresses are top of the line and are made from materials originating from NASA. While they're priced substantially higher than Ghostbed, you're getting what you pay for. From materials to support, everything on these mattresses is a step above. However, if you're on a budget or can't justify spending a good chunk of money on a mattress, Tempur-Pedic isn't for you. People with joint problems or those who prefer the contouring nature of memory foam are a perfect fit for Tempur-Pedic.
Ghostbed is ideal for people who sleep hot. All of their mattresses have a way to keep you cool throughout the night. However, people who are looking for more than just cooling technology may want to look elsewhere. With a longer warranty and a lower price, Ghostbed is the better choice for people on a budget or who are worried about long term use of their mattress.
How To Choose The Right Mattress
First off, if your current mattress is 7-10 years old and you're experiencing more body aches and pains, it's time to buy a new mattress. Getting a good night's sleep is essential in maintaining a healthy body and mind. Choosing the right mattress doesn't have to be a hassle, follow these guidelines to find the right one for you!
- Choose a mattress based on your individual needs. If you're looking for plushier support that adapts to your body's shape, a memory foam mattress is the best choice. If you want a more firm, traditional, feel an innerspring mattress is what you want. For the best of both worlds, get a hybrid mattress .
- Get proper lumbar support. The majority of your body weight is positioned in what is called the "center third" of the mattress. Find a mattress that has excellent lumbar support as it prevents and alleviates pain in the back and hips. If you're looking for extra support, Saatva's unique lumbar zone technology might be the best fit.
- Find a mattress with a long in-home trial. You want to be able to test your mattress over an extended period of time to really make sure this is the right one for you. Look for a company that offers a risk-free in-home sleep trial. Nectar offers a 365-day trial. IDLE Sleep offers a full 18-month trial (the longest in the industry).
Where can I find a great, affordable mattress (in 2023)?

What people are saying
"The Ghostbed mattress delivers the perfect bounce and support by really mastering the mattress basics," says Emily E. "The aerated latex and gel memory foam keep things nice and breathable. It's a great pick if you just want quality materials without any gimmicky extras. The contouring and bounce provide all the satisfaction I need as a sleeper."
"With its advanced memory foam technology, the TempurPedic mattress cradles your body from head to toe," explains Henry H. "It effortlessly aligns your spine and relieves pressure for deeply restorative sleep. This exceptional brand redefines mattress comfort."
The GhostBed Flex has latex and gel foams over pocketed coils for cooling and responsiveness, while the all-foam Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Adapt contours closely. The GhostBed excels at not trapping heat but the Tempur-Pedic has better motion isolation. The GhostBed suits those wanting cooling bounce without excessive sinkage, while the Tempur-Pedic caters to side sleepers preferring deep contouring.

GhostBed Adjustable Bed Construction:
The adjustable base by GhostBed has a flat grey base with an anti-skid decking. The frame for this adjustable base is made out of 100% steel, making this a very solid and strong base.
Even the retaining bar (the piece at the foot of the bed which keeps the mattress in place) is made out of steel. The bed also has two recessed massage units allowing different zones for massage. The weight limitations of this base is up to 750lbs, this includes the weight of the mattress.
GhostBed Adjustable Base Ease of Use:

Set up was not too difficult but we would suggest having at least two sets of hands to get that done.
GhostBed Adjustable Frame Value:

Keep in mind that this items is not returnable and does not come with any trial period. While they do have a lifetime warranty, it is limited. Visit the GhostBed website for further details.
- Twin XL: $799
- Queen: $999
- Split King: $1598
Trial Period & Warranty:

However, they do have a warranty and an optional additional warranty. GhostBed’s website will have more details on what they entail.
Compatible Ghostbed Mattresses:

They also offer two hybrid, or innerspring mattresses too. And while both the GhostBed Flex and 3D Matrix are also compatible with an adjustable base, they may not be quite as flexible as their all foam counterparts. Making them good options, but not the best.

Ghostbed Adjustable Base Overview:
This is a solid Adjustable Base that GhostBed made. It has a sturdy steel construction and plenty of all the different features that turn this adjustable base into an awesome luxury experience. The wireless remote is very easy to use and clear to understand. We like that all of the buttons make each feature easy to use. This also comes in at a great price compared to other adjustable bases with the same amount of fancy features. Just remember that you cannot return this adjustable bed. So you want to make sure you really want this item before you purchase.

GhostBed vs. Tempur-Pedic Mattress Review
Last Updated on October 19, 2023
If you're searching for a memory foam mattress, you've likely heard about two of the biggest names in the industry: GhostBed and Tempur-Pedic.
How do you know which brand is right for you? Join us as we explore how GhostBed and Tempur-Pedic compare in cost, quality, comfort and more.
GhostBed VS Tempur-Pedic
Best Mattress Overall
Short on time? Here's some key information:
Consumers searching for a foam-based bed with easy, quick delivery, excellent customer reviews and a longer warranty and trial period will love GhostBed mattresses.
Materials and Quality
Are bed-in-a-box mattresses like GhostBed's high quality? The answer is yes!
In fact, the materials we use at GhostBed are so high quality that we offer one of the best warranties in the business. (More on that soon.)
Here's what you can expect when you pull your GhostBed out of the box:
All GhostBed mattresses are built with a high-density foam base layer to reduce compression. After all, the base layer of your mattress is like the foundation of your house—so it must be top tier.
We top the base foam of our mattresses with additional layers like springs, gel memory foam or latex (depending on the model you choose) for the ideal balance of support and comfort. Customers report that “back pain and overall quality of sleep has drastically improved” after switching to a GhostBed.
We also use cooling technology in every mattress, including proprietary materials in our Luxury and Premium collections. The signature Ghost Ice cover, for example, is designed with a phase-change material that draws heat away from your body.
Tempur-Pedic uses cooling fibers and phase change materials in their TEMPUR-Breeze® mattresses with mixed results. One customer shared they made multiple trips to their doctor due to profuse sweating at night—only to find that the mattress was to blame.
How to Choose a Bed-in-a-Box Without Trying It First
If it's your first time purchasing a bed-in-a-box (or if you opt for Tempur-Pedic's bed-in-a-bag), it's understandable if you feel hesitant to order a mattress without trying it first.
However, you may be surprised to find that going in-store to trial a mattress doesn't always yield the best results. The customer reviews on Tempur-Pedic's website are full of folks who loved the feel of a bed in-store and hated it once it was delivered to their home.
One customer shared that their Tempur-Pedic “feels nothing like what [they] experienced in the store, and is creating much more discomfort than any mattress [they] have owned.”
That's why at GhostBed, we have a fleet of sleep experts ready to help you find the best mattress for you. You can even book a consultation with one right now. We're also available to contact via email, phone call, and chat .
Our mattress quiz is also designed to find you the perfect mattress, so there are no unpleasant surprises when you take it out of the box. Only cooling comfort.
Ready to invest in a GhostBed or Tempur-Pedic mattress? Here's how the cost of a couple popular models compare.
GhostBed Flex vs. TEMPUR-Cloud® + Hybrid Technology
Ghostbed luxe vs. tempur-breeze® luxebreeze®.
Note: Prices are accurate as of 4/7/23 and are subject to change.
GhostBed and Tempur-Pedic mattresses are similar in price for some mattresses, with GhostBed's frequent sales often bringing their cost below Tempur-Pedic.
Customers opting for advanced cooling features and proprietary technology will typically find a better deal from GhostBed, with the GhostBed Luxe —The Coolest Bed in the World™—going for thousands of dollars less than the TEMPUR-Breeze® LUXEbreeze.
Trial Period and Warranty
At the end of the day, the only way to be confident a mattress is right for you is to sleep on it. GhostBed and Tempur-Pedic both offer generous trial periods.
Tempur-Pedic gives you 90 nights to see if a mattress is right for you, while Ghostbed gives you 101 nights . Both will refund you 100% if you decide your mattress isn't for you.
Tempur-Pedic and GhostBed both ask you to let your body adjust to your new mattress before deciding if you'd like to keep it.
There's a 30-day waiting period for both GhostBed and Tempur-Pedic. After this trial period, both companies will allow you to return your mattress without any fees if you're confident it's not right for you.
GhostBed has an industry-leading warranty , providing 20 years of coverage for its Classic mattress and 25 years for all other mattresses in the line.
Meanwhile, Tempur-Pedic's mattresses are warrantied for 10 years.
In general, customers are more satisfied with their GhostBed mattresses than their Tempur-Pedic mattresses. GhostBed mattresses have an average customer rating of 4.8, while Tempur-Pedic mattresses have an average rating of 4.5.
According to Mattress Advisor , “GhostBed mattresses are exceptionally cool and durable, and they're thick enough to support plus-size sleepers. These beds are much more responsive than Tempur-Pedic, making it easier to move around or have sex. Additionally, they're less expensive.”
GhostBed mattresses also support an industry-leading 750 pounds, which is 100 pounds more than Tempur-Pedic's suggested weight limit. Combined with their excellent edge support, they're the most supportive mattress choice for most people.

The main difference between the GhostBed and the Tempur-Pedic models is that GhostBed uses latex on the top of the comfort layer while Tempur-Pedic uses memory foam. This means GhostBed is bouncier/more resilient, while with Tempur-Pedic mattresses you slowly sink into the mattress.
GhostBed has an adjustable base that rivals that of luxury brand's Tempur-pedic Tempur-Ergo Plus. With a price of hundreds less, a lifetime warranty, and ease of delivery, GhostBed adjustable base certainly wins over the similarly styled Tempur-Ergo Plus.
Read Our Review GhostBed Luxe The GhostBed Luxe is GhostBed's luxury memory foam mattress. With six layers measuring 13", the GhostBed Luxe is one of the most durable all-foam mattresses we've tested at the Mattress Advisor lab.
The GhostBed is a foam mattress that combines memory foam and latex foam, whereas the TEMPUR-Cloud is made with layers of plush memory foam and high-density poly foam. Those might not sound too different on paper, but these mattresses have really different feels. That also means that they are best suited for different types of sleepers!
Feel — GhostBed has a blended foam feel, while TempurPedic has a traditional memory foam feel. Firmness — GhostBed comes in just one firmness level, but you can get a range of firmness levels with TempurPedic. Body Type — GhostBed will probably suit petite to medium sized folks best, while a TempurPedic mattress can accommodate all body types.
Our Reviews Team surveyed adjustable bed users and found the top benefits of using an adjustable bed included reduced joint and back pain, enhanced comfort, and ease of getting out of bed, while adjustable lumbar support was ranked as the most important feature. [2]
