• New “green” concrete must be properly cured. Concrete should obtain 80% of design strength, typically achieved within 28 days.
• The concrete substrate must be structurally sound and clean of oil, grease, dirt, wax, curing compounds, efflorescence, paints, previous sealers, adhesives and other contaminants that might interfere with the penetration of the sealer. Power wash, acid etch or mechanically scarify as necessary to achieve the desired surface condition. If acid was used to clean the concrete, neutralize the surface and rinse with water prior to application. Allow for proper dry time before application. The surface-zone moisture content of the concrete should not exceed 4% wt. Do not apply if standing water is visible.
• Surface and air temperatures must be at least 40°F during application. Surface and air temperatures should not exceed 95°F. Do not apply when temperatures are expected to fall below 32°F within 8 hours or when rain is expected within 12 hours following application. Keep material from freezing. If freezing conditions exist before application, let the substrate thaw before application. Do not apply during inclement weather or when inclement weather is expected within 12 hours.
• Crack, patching and expansion joint sealants can be applied after application; always test for compatibility and adhesion.
• Protect people, property, vehicles, window glass, roofing materials, plastic products, shrubbery, landscaping and all surfaces not set for treatment from overspray.

Application - Primer - Concentrate

• Always test a small area before application to ensure desired performance, aesthetics, coverage rates and to verify application technique. Let test area dry thoroughly, 5-7 days, before inspection.
• Always mix the concentrate with 1 parts water prior to application. Distilled water is recommended for maximum performance. Stir material throughly before and during application.
• One uniform coat is needed to ensure complete coverage. Apply with a roller, brush or low-pressure non-atomizing sprayer. Apply to saturation and roll or broom out any puddles until the sealer penetrates the substrate. Do not over apply. If applied too heavily, an unreacted white residue may develop on the surface. If it starts to rain, stop treatment and cover the treated areas.

Application - Polishing - Ready to Use

• Always test a small area before application to ensure desired performance, aesthetics, coverage rates and to verify application technique. Let test area dry thoroughly, 5-7 days, before inspection. 2. Stir material throughly before and during application.
• One uniform coat is needed to ensure complete coverage. Apply with a roller, brush or low-pressure non-atomizing sprayer. Apply to saturation and roll or broom out any puddles until the sealer penetrates the substrate.

Typical drying time is 4-6 hours at 70°F and 50% relative humidity. Cooler temperatures or higher relative humidity can extend the drying time. Treated surfaces will be ready for pedestrian and vehicle traffic within 24 hours.

Clean equipment and tools with hot soapy water. Unused or old material may be disposed of in a waste disposal site in accordance with local, state and federal laws.

Precautions/Safety

Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing, do not take internally. Use appropriate safety equipment during application and handling. Please refer to the safety data sheet (SDS) for additional precautionary instructions before use.

Best Performance

• Proper application is the responsibility of the user.
• Do not use on extremely porous concrete or masonry such as CMU block.
• Do not over apply. Sealer is highly reactive. Excess material may result in a a white residue or discoloration on the surface.
• Does not protect against equipment leaks such as oils and hydraulic fluids.
• Make sure the most current versions of product data sheets and SDS are being used.

Lithi-Tek® 4500 is concentrated. 1 coat: 750 - 1500 square feet. Variations in texture and porosity of substrate may affect the coverage and performance of the product.

Bricks, concrete blocks/cinderblocks, polished concrete / extremely smooth concrete surfaces

What is the difference between the Lithi-Tek 4500 and Sila-Tek 3500?  The Lithi-Tek 4500 is of a lithium silicate chemistry, whereas the Sila-Tek 3500 is of a sodium silicate chemistry.

What do you mix the concentrate with?  The Lithi-Tek 4500 concentrate is mixed with water. 1 gallon of Lithi-Tek 4500 is mixed with 2 gallons of water.

Can I paint after sealing?  Yes, you can paint after applying the Lithi-Tek 4500.

Does the concrete need to be dry before sealing?  Yes, the concrete needs to be as dry as possible before sealing. We recommend the moisture content of the concrete be less than 4%wt. It is recommended to wait at least 24-48 hours after rain and pressure washing before sealing.

My floor turned white after sealing, what happened?  This is a common result of over application. Once the concrete reaches its point of absorption any material that was unable to penetrate reacts with the carbon dioxide in the air. This reaction leaves a white, powdery residue on the surface of the concrete. This can easily be removed by sweeping the concrete with a wire brush.

Why cant I use this product on brick or concrete blocks?  This product is not recommended for use on brick because the Lithi-Tek 4500 is a penetrating, reactive sealer. Bricks do not contain enough free lime and calcium for the sealer to react with and this causes the bricks to dry with a white, powdery residure. This product is not recommended on concrete blocks because concrete blocks are extremely porous. The best product to seal bricks and concrete blocks is the Siloxa-Tek 8500.

How many gallons do I need to treat 1000 square feet?  You will need 1 gallons to treat 1000 square feet. Each concentrated gallon of Lithi-Tek 4500 will cover up to 1000 square feet.

What can I use to apply this product?  The Lithi-Tek 4500 can be applied with a garden variety pump sprayer, 3/8" nap paint roller or a brush.

How do I mix the product with water?  The Lithi-Tek 4500 is a concentrated product that needs to be mixed with water prior to application. Pour the 1 gallon of Lithi-Tek 4500 into a 5 gallon bucket. Next add 2 gallons of water into the 5 gallon bucket. Mix the water and 4500 mixture well. You can then pour the mixture into a sprayer to spray apply, or you can dip a nap paint roller into the bucket and roll apply.

How do I clean out the sprayer after sealing?  Since the Lithi-Tek 4500 is a water based product you can use regular soap and water to clean out the sprayer and other application tools.

Lithi-Tek 4500 is an industrial-grade, water-based , lithium densifier for use as a stand-alone product or as a primer to strengthen and harden concrete making it up to 50% stronger. It is the go-to choice to harden and prime basements and driveways and it is also an excellent choice for polishing concrete.

1 Gallon :  Lithi-Tek 4500 is concentrated* if priming concrete and ready to use if polishing concrete. If used as primer: up to 800 square feet. If used prior to polishing concrete: up to 400 square feet.

Lithium based densifiers are the way to go especially if you are going to be polishing the concrete and this product is no different.

A customer service rep recommended I use the 4500 product first as a primer of sorts to densify my driveway that has existing spalling damage and then use the Siloxa-Tek 8500 on top to prevent spalling and salt damage. The combination of both products really seemed to make a visible difference since the winter just passed and I have no new spalling!

Lithi-Tek 4500 is an advanced, high performance, industrial strength, deep penetrating concrete sealer and lithium densifier, hardener designed to strengthen concrete. This unique formula incorporates leading molecular nanotechnology. The subsequent chemical reaction elicited from the formula fills the pores and capillaries with an impenetrable crystallization. Lithi-Tek 4500 is a uniquely transparent formula containing a proprietary blend of enzymes and surfactants that aide in accelerating a deeper penetrating disbursement. Thus eliciting a more effective, uniformed chemical reaction between the formula and the concrete substrate it’s being applied to. Lithi-Tek 4500 treats and seals from the inside out; strengthening the concrete as well as providing a seal that will not chip, flake, delaminate or breakdown with UV light exposure. QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

I just grinned off all Old DRYLOK in basement cinder blocks. Looking for a spray to strengthen the blocks, plus add a bit of waterproofing or wicking. Which product do you recommend. Also, my research has shown that, "Armor L3000 Concrete Densifier and Surface Hardener" is a great product for this. Why would your product be better?

I don't have any experience with Armor L3000 but it didn't doesn't appear to be recommended for cinder blocks.  4500 is also not recommended for block walls.  For water proofing,  I would recommend Siloxa-Tek 8510 which excels in your application.

Just had a new garage floor poured. Surface is smooth but not polished, concrete was hand troweled. Looking at sealing it with either 8510 only or the 4500 / 8510 combo. If I do the combo will one coat of 8510 be sufficient. What is the minimum temperature for applying both the 4500 and 8510.

The manufacturer recommends two coats for the 8510.  The 4500 is only densifying the concrete, not adding any sealing properties so you would still be better off using two coats of the 8510. Surface and air temperatures must be at least 35°F during application. Do not apply when temperatures are expected to fall below 32°F within 8 hours or when rain is expected within 12 hours following application.

I have trial finished floors in my shop. What steps should i take to ensure my best results?

You will need to power wash,  etch or grind the floor prior to application.  Power troweled concrete is too smooth to accept the densifier.

We have a customer with a 1.5 yr old 2700 sq ft brushed concrete drive and pads. In KY we have salts on roadways in winter. Which concentrate would be best and economical say for 5 yr protection?

I would say the 8505 but they are behind in production, so 8510 would be your best bet currently.

I just had new concrete poured, it is very smooth, do I need the 4500 with the 8510, or just the 8510, they also sprayed it with cure and seal, with this work over that okay, thank you.

The cure and seal will need to be removed for the sealer to penetrate.  Without removing that layer, the sealer will not do what you need to to.   If the concrete is smooth, you will need to etch or grind the concrete to open the pores.   For the 4500, this is not mandatory, but for best results, we do suggest using the 4500 to densify the concrete 7 days prior to the application of the 8510.

I have a 30+ year old driveway that is shedding surface particles (dust). The concrete is solid and not failing otherwise, and I want to seal it, so it stops shedding the dust particles. Which (if any) Ghost Shield product do you recommend to seal the dust? Thanks for your help!

I would recommend lithi-tek 9500 https://www.concreteandcurbingsource.com/collections/ghost-shield/products/ghostshield-lithi-tek-9500-concrete-sealer-densifier This will act as a densifier and the siliconates will react with the concrete to reduce the dusting you are seeing. 

How much for 1200 SQ foot shop would I need?

1200 feet would need about 1.5 gallons , so you would need to order 2 gallons total. 

Is Lithi-Tech 4500 oil or water based?

Litho-tek 4500 is a water based concentrate. 

We recently removed an indoor-outdoor carpet from our concrete back porch. The porch is 50-60 years old, and has apparently been covered by carpet since it was poured, as there is no staining. Now it sweats frequently. What product should we use to keep it from sweating and becoming slippery? It is smooth, but not polished.

I would use the 4500 densifier, followed by the 8505 penetrating sealer.
