- 2022 Hyundai Venue Facelift Review: Korean Automaker's Subcompact SUV Grows Fashionable

The Hyundai Venue has been one of the most popular compact SUVs in the sub-4 metre space and for good reasons. Ever since its debut in 2019, the Korean marque's most affordable SUV has been a favourite among younger shoppers or those on a budget, allowing for an attractive alternative to expensive propositions. Its quirky design, potent powertrain options, a decent amount of cabin space, and a well-packaged features list found more than 3 lakh customers. But with growing competition, and the entry of the more feature-packed and connected cars like the Tata Nexon , Kia Sonet , and the undisputed command of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza in the market, Hyundai had to take matters into their own hands and take things a notch higher. Well, a lot higher! Ladies and gentlemen, meet the 2022 Hyundai Venue facelift.

Exterior Design
The exterior of the 2022 Hyundai Venue sees a huge overhaul in its styling as the company follows its global design language- Sensuous Sportiness' design philosophy. The front section is dominated by a chrome-studded grille with black surrounds or what Hyundai calls- Parametric Grille, earlier seen on the new Hyundai Tucson as well as the larger Hyundai Palisade SUV. The turn indicators are new and arranged in a three-piece horizontal graphic with projector headlamps mounted on re-profiled bumpers where the fog lamps have been replaced with wider air inlets and silver faux plates.

The profile remains largely unchanged albeit a new design for the alloys that looks quite stylish, and trendy as well. The recognisable flat roofline, silver roof rails, and body cladding on the doors are also retained from the outgoing model but the tinge of chrome on the window line adds a fresh appeal to the compact SUV. The 16-inch wheels get a new design for the alloys. If you thought that the front section was bold, then you'd be glad to know that the designers at Hyundai managed to do one up with the rear to make it truly distinct, and not merely a half-baked job. The split tail lamp clusters on either side receive new graphics linked by a well-lit stripe that runs the width of the SUV. The redesigned rear bumpers now house reflectors and bulbs positioned in an upright pattern.

Now, the design would well polarise opinions on social media, but the fact of the matter remains that the 2022 Venue would stand out in a crowd of SUVs of all shapes and sizes. The introduction of the new two-tone Fiery Red with Phantom Black roof adds depth to its proportions, but you also get six single-tone paint schemes to choose from.

Tech & Cabin
The cabin of the 2022 Hyundai Venue facelift also sees huge changes that make the car livelier than before. The instrument cluster is now all-digital, moving on from the semi-digital unit from before. The theme is customisable. In the 1.0L Turbo DCT version, along with the changeable theme from the drive modes, there's provision to individually alter it. The 8-inch infotainment unit is carried over from the previous model but gets a software update that makes the interface smoother.

It now supports ten regional and two international languages, along with Alexa and Google Assistant. Hyundai's BlueLink connected car tech also sees new features and customers can now access over 60 features. You get wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on the versions with BlueLink and wireless connectivity on the versions without BlueLink. Hyundai says this has to do with privacy and offering wireless compatibility becomes an issue on select variants.

Top-spec versions also get wireless charging. Seats can be adjusted 4-ways for the driver while the electric sunroof is retained from earlier. Also new is the black and greige upholstery, which is essentially a combination of grey and beige, but it looks like off-white to us. Hyundai is targeting the car for the younger audience and has customised the cabin accordingly to the taste of the millennials. Traveling in the rear seats is also much more convenient now since there were always complaints with rear row seating on the Venue.

1. The theme on the instrument cluster is customisable. 2. Hyundai is famous for its cooling system, and the Venue is no different. 3. The option for the drive modes is only available with the 1.0 Turbo DCT version. 4. Air purifier is now integrated instead of a unit placed at the front cup holder. Photo Credit: Prashant Chaudhary
The company has now taken note of this and added a new layout for the seats which are scooped out to liberate extra knee room. The 2-step adjustable seats are a welcome addition as it allows you to recline to a more comfortable position for longer journeys by accessing the small levers placed on either side of the backrests. You get Type-C charging ports with the ability to fast charge for the rear passengers.

The scooped-in front seat liberates ample room for the knee. The longer seat squabs also support under-thigh much better now. Photo Credit: Prashant Chaudhary
The Hyundai Venue continues with the engine options offered on the previous model and so you get two petrol- a 1.2L naturally aspirated motor paired to a 5-speed manual unit, a 1.0L turbo unit coupled with a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT, and a 1.5-litre diesel tuned with a 6-speed manual unit. The driving dynamics, ride & handling, and performance remains as before and not much has changed.

However, the 7-speed DCT unit gets a generation upgrade, and we didn't find much difference apart from the amended throttle response to allow getting off the mark quicker than before. It is also the only unit to get drive modes- Eco, Normal, and Sport. We would soon test this version individually to get its proper essence. The 2022 Hyundai Venue with the iMT gearbox offers the best of both worlds- control of a manual gearbox and the convenience of an automatic.

The turbocharged unit pairs seamlessly with this gearbox to offer a comfortable drive with little to worry about, and the availability of torque right from the word go only echoes that sensation. Yet, we feel both gearboxes could've been much more enjoyable with its diesel model, after all, it is a silent, refined, and extremely frugal mill.

Fuel Efficiency
The Hyundai Venue continues to impress with its healthy efficiency return. The smaller yet powerful petrol unit returns more than 18 kmpl on both its gearbox offerings while the naturally aspirated version returns a decent 17 kmpl on its manual gearbox. The larger diesel version is even more fuel-efficient with a figure of 22 kmpl making it one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in its segment.
Safety Features
Hyundai has also improved the safety levels on the 2022 Venue now. Apart from the 4-star crash test rating from Global NCAP, Hyundai has clothed the car well enough to keep passengers safe. You get 6 airbags, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Brake Assist System, Hill Hold Assist, and ISOFIX anchorage for children. And though we doubt there would be any major change to its Global NCAP rating, we expect the company to test the car anyways.

Prices & Variants
The Hyundai Venue is an extremely important product for the company. It clocks more than 44 per cent of overall SUV sales and contributes to 22 per cent of the company's overall domestic sales, more than any other SUV in its portfolio, and now with the 2022 model, the company hopes to increase this.
The Hyundai Venue undercuts Tata Nexon by Rs. 1,000 and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza by Rs. 31,000, but that would soon change with the new-generation Maruti Suzuki Brezza that is expected to bring in a layer of depth to the segment leader. And we can not forget its Korean sibling, as the Kia Sonet is expected to get its own set of upgrades most likely early next year.

The 2022 Hyundai Venue facelift is a well-designed, smart urban SUV that ticks many boxes and offers great value. Photo Credit: Prashant Chaudhary
Overall, the Hyundai Venue is a well-designed, smart urban SUV that ticks many boxes and offers great value. The prices are very attractive and that also helps explain the 21,000 bookings Hyundai received since opening bookings for the car. Its lack of enough options could be its only Achilles heel since its biggest rival at present is the Tata Nexon and it comes with as many trims as Hyundai offers connected features now. Yes, it's those many including the Dark Editions, Kaziranga Editions, and whatnot. But it is not its prices, but rather its tech benchmarks, modern styling and build quality, decent ride and handling, comfort, and drivetrain options, that make the 2022 Hyundai Venue comes across as a winner.

Attractive pricing, strikingly good looks and solidly capable! The Triumph Scrambler 400 X is a fun, fabulous and somewhat flawed machine which is difficult to ignore in the budget ADV segment. And yes, we know it’s a scrambler, not an ADV.

The Hyundai Venue was also in the parts of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh where it went under cold weather testing. The Hyundai Venue was tested at a low temperature of -6 degree Celsius and at 7000 ft. altitude. It was also driven from Jim Corbett to Nainital, across the Naini hills over snow-covered terrains to test the traction of the car.

Hyundai India recently confirmed that the new model will be called the Hyundai Venue upon launch. Carandbike can now confirm that the new SUV will be unveiled on April 17, 2019. The Venue is a Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra XUV300 rival, and will be positioned below the Hyundai Creta in the automaker's line-up. Interestingly, the Hyundai Venue India unveil coincides with the world debut that is slated to take place at the New York Auto Show. The Venue nameplate is also what the subcompact SUV will be called globally, and not Styx as it was previously perceived.

The variant line-up of the 2022 Hyundai Venue facelift has been rejigged as well and here's the variant wise details of what you get in the new Hyundai Venue facelift.

The new Hyundai Venue facelift is offered in six variants - E, S, S+, S(O), SX and SX(O).

Hyundai SmartSense
Forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian detection (fca-ped) .
The Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection (FCA-Ped) is intended to be a supplement to safe driving practices. The system is not designed to detect certain stationary objects such as trees or poles, and may not detect all vehicles or pedestrians under certain conditions. The system is a driver assistance system and is not a substitute for safe driving. The driver is responsible for being attentive and maintaining control of the vehicle, and should not wait for the system's alerts before braking as there may not be sufficient time to brake safely. See Owner’s Manual for further details and limitations.
Driver Attention Warning (DAW)
Blind-spot collision warning (bcw) .
Standard on SEL and Limited trims.
Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) assists the driver by warning of other cars in the blind spot region. It senses the rear side territory of the vehicle when it is traveling over 20 mph. There are limitations to the function, range, detection and clarity of the system. It will not detect all vehicles or objects in the blind spot. Its operation depends on the size, distance, angle and relative speed difference between your car and other cars. BCW may not operate if sensors are obscured in any way. Do not rely exclusively on BCW. BCW is a supplemental system and the driver must still be attentive and exercise caution when driving. It is the driver's responsibility to be aware of the surroundings and ensure it is clear before changing lanes or directions. See Owner’s Manual for further details and limitations.
Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning (RCCW)
Standard on SEL and Limited.
Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning (RCCW) helps drivers back out of a parking space by detecting traffic coming from either side of the vehicle. It can alert the driver of a potential hazard. RCCW is active when the vehicle is in reverse gear and operating at low speeds. Never rely exclusively on RCCW when exiting a parking space, it is not a substitute for attentive driving. Always look over your shoulder and use your mirrors to confirm rear clearance. There are limitations to the function, detection, range and clarity of the system. See Owner's Manual for further details and limitations.
Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)
Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) will not work under all circumstances. It operates above 40 mph and only when it is able to detect painted lane markings. It cannot function if the lane markings cannot be seen clearly. If the lines cannot be seen clearly due to poor road conditions, weather, or lighting conditions, it may not function. It also may not function on very rough roads, when walls, curbs or concrete barriers are close by, or if following another car too closely. Since it "sees" the lane markings using a camera in the upper windshield area, it is imperative this area be clear and free of blockage such as stickers, dirt, snow, tinting material, markings and labels. Lane Keeping Assist is not a substitute for safe driving practices, but is a supplemental assist only. The driver is responsible for always maintaining command and control of the vehicle and must keep hands on the wheel at all times. See Owner's Manual for further details and limitations.
Rear Occupant Alert (ROA)
Upon turning the engine off, Rear Occupant Alert (ROA) will provide a visual alert on the instrument cluster. ROA is not a substitute for driver attentiveness. Never leave a child or pet unattended in a vehicle. See Owner's Manual for further details and limitations.

2022 Hyundai Venue Facelift Exterior: All Details Explained Via 10 Images
- May 27, 2022

- By Aniruthan Srithar
This will be the first update for Hyundai’s sub-4 metre SUV, and leaked exterior images suggest they will be more than a minor nip and tuck

The cat is out of the bag before it’s supposed to be. Here’s your first look at the facelifted Hyundai Venue , which is likely to be launched on June 16 in India. This will be the first midlife refresh for the popular sub-4 metre SUV and it’s more than a minor nip and tuck. So without further ado, here are all the exterior details about the facelifted Venue in our image gallery.

Styling changes made to the facelifted Venue are in sync with the facelifted Creta and new Tucson , as it now follows Hyundai’s Parametric Design language.

Up front, the grille is now more squarer and takes up more real estate than before. It gets rectangular chrome inserts for a premium outfit and is flanked by a pair of split headlights. While the lower unit has been carried forward, the indicators on top are now sleeker and longer. Below it is a simply styled airdam with a long rectangular air intake.

In profile, save for the revised 16-inch dual-tone alloys, there are no other changes made to the side profile.

Hyundai has made radical changes to the Venue’s rear-end. It now gets split-LED tail lamps with rectangular elements a la the Ioniq 5 . Plus, the rear bumpers have been tweaked, featuring a long rectangular insert that mimics the air dams.

The interior of the facelifted SUV is yet to be seen. But we reckon the dashboard could get some changes to accommodate the larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system from Kia and Hyundai.

Other expected new features include ventilated front seats, a Bose sound system, and digitised instrument display (a la i20).

Features that will be retained include automatic climate control, a single-pane sunroof, wireless phone charger, cruise control, keyless entry with push button start, and connected car tech. Passenger safety should be taken care of by six airbags and electronic stability control.

The facelifted Venue will retain the existing 83PS 1.2-litre petrol, 100PS 1.5-litre diesel, and 120PS 1-litre turbo-petrol engines, paired with manual, automatic and clutchless manual transmissions, depending on the mill. It could also get the Sonet’s 115PS 1.5-litre diesel, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The facelifted Hyundai Venue is expected to be priced from Rs 7.2 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it in contention with the Kia Sonet , Tata Nexon , Toyota Urban Cruiser , Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza , Mahindra XUV300 , and the like.

2022 Hyundai Venue Facelift Given Knight Edition Looks Surreal
Curated By : Auto Desk

This digitally modified Hyundai Venue looks amazing. (Photo: SRK Designs)
The Hyundai Venue facelift Knight Edition gets a blacked-out outfit covering the car from the front to the rear.
Launched in 2019, the Hyundai Venue made quite an impression on customers seeking compact SUVs. Making the car look more appealing than it already was, the company recently unveiled the facelift 2022 Hyundai Venue. The mid-life makeover loaded the Hyundai Venue with hordes of new touches of artistry.
Now, a conceptualiser-cum-designer on YouTube has teased what the new Hyundai Venue would look like in all-black. Inspired by the knight edition that was added to Hyundai Creta’s trims, the Hyundai Venue, with the revamped colour scheme, looks devilishly alluring. Brought to life by SRK Designs, the conceptualiser used the Fiery Red Hyundai Venue and gave the car the required touch-ups.
As you can see, the Hyundai Venue knight edition gets a blacked-out outfit covering the car from the front to the rear. This includes the bash plate, alloy wheels, door handles, and roof rails. The front fascia features a black-tinted grille with hints of red peeping out the grooves. The red accent also covers the blackened ORVMs. Based on the design scheme, the interiors of the car are also expected to feature these red hints.
Although the company is yet to launch the knight edition for the Hyundai Venue officially, there are tons of ideas that it can pick up, if not the exact design. This black edition in cars is slowly taking the shape of a trend. Companies such as Jeep and Tata are already offering their products in these colour-dominant variants.
The new Hyundai Venue comes in three engine options. These are 1.2-litre MPi Petrol, the Kappa 1-litre GDi Petrol, and the U2 1.5-litre CRDi Diesel. The South Koream company offers a total Of four transmission options – 5-speed MT mated with 1.2-litre, 6-speed MT mated with 1.5-litre, and 6-speed iMT & 7-speed DCT with 1-litre.
The Hyundai Venue facelift comes at a starting price of Rs 7.53 lakh and goes up to Rs 12.57 lakh for the top-end variant.

Hyundai Venue Facelift Price in India 2023, Launch date, Colours, Specifications, and More

Hyundai Venue Facelift: The updated Hyundai Venue will make a big splash in India’s market in 2023. The model has been overhauled from the ground up, so consumers can anticipate increased fuel economy, a more modern look, and a new set of powertrain options. This is in addition to the new hatchback, sedan, and SUV that Hyundai plans to introduce to the Indian market in 2018. What follows is a complete guide to the Hyundai Venue refresh of 2023.
All the latest information released by the firm is collected here. If you’re interested in purchasing this card on its release day, you may get the latest information by clicking the button below. On this page, you’ll find every detail on this vehicle that we know of. Make sure you can afford this car before you look into it further. The interior is likely to be completely black with red details and the N Line emblem. Only a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine will be available for the Venue N series, and transmission choices will likely include a 7-speed DCT and a 6-speed IMT.
Hyundai Venue Facelift 2023
Much of the compact SUV’s exterior will be carried over unmodified, while the alloy wheels will get a new look. L-shaped taillights, a reshaped bumper with updated LED inserts, and a phoney skid plate are just some of the updates coming to the vehicle’s rear end. The test mules for the forthcoming Venue refresh have been spotted, and they suggest a completely redesigned front and back fascia. Taking cues from the Parametric Dynamics design language of the next-generation Tucson and the revised Palisade full-size SUV, the facelifted Creta’s grille will be changed. Also, the split headlights and front bumper have been updated.
In India, the i20 N line was the debut model in the N series from Hyundai, and the Venue, maybe with cosmetic updates, may be the next in line. Unique front and rear bumpers, red accents, twin exhaust tips, and a new design for the alloy wheels all contribute to the sportier appearance of the Venue N line, which has already been spotted being tested abroad. The majority of the modifications will be superficial, focusing instead on fine-tuning the user experience. The exterior will be redesigned from the ground up by Hyundai, but the chassis will remain unchanged. Even though it has a quite square appearance from the side, sharp angles will make it stand out more.
Hyundai Venue Facelift Details 2023
Hyundai venue launch date.
The 2023 Hyundai Venue’s updated exterior has been leaked in India, and its premiere there is set for June 16. Hyundai released the first photos of the updated Venue in India on June 14 in advance of the car’s official launch on June 16. By the middle of 2023, Hyundai hopes to have a new variant of the Venue available in India. This upcoming version of the Venue is probably going to get a makeover and end up looking different from the existing one. A redesigned Hyundai Venue, one of the company’s most anticipated releases of the year, will enter the Indian market in early May. Keep reading to learn all there is to know about the Hyundai Venue facelift, including the updated model’s price in India, when it will go on sale, how to reserve one and what features it will have, as well as the estimated waiting period.

Hyundai Venue Facelift Price In India 2023
The Kappa 1.2MPi petrol version of the updated Venue will be initially offered for 7, 53, 100. For $9,99,900, you can get your hands on a Kappa 1.0 turbo GDi petrol S(O). With a starting price of 9,99,900, the U2 1.5 CRDi Diesel MT is the range-topping model. After its debut, the updated Hyundai Venue will compete head-on with the likes of the Kia Sonnet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnate, Toyota Urban Cruiser, and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, all of which will be getting facelifts themselves in the coming months.
Hyundai Venue is available in 7 different Colours – Fiery Red Black Dual Tone, Fiery Red, Typhoon Silver, Phantom Black, Polar White, Titan Grey and Denim Blue.
Hyundai Venue Facelift Features
The present-day Venue provides a number of conveniences, including a touchscreen infotainment system that is compatible with both Apple and Android devices (and has a display size of 8 inches). In addition to the electric sunroof and automatic climate control, Blue Link connected car technology is included. It is likely that the 1.2-liter normally aspirated petrol engine (with 83 horsepower), the 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine (with 120 horsepower), and the 1.5-liter diesel engine (with 100 horsepower) will all return in the refreshed Venue. Is. Also, the transmission choices are likely to remain the same.
Hyundai Venue Design
The “Sensuous Sportiness” aesthetic that defines the brand is at the heart of the new subcompact SUV. Its styling is influenced on the second-generation Hyundai Tucson. The exterior facade has been updated on New Venue. The new Parametric Jewel Grille up front is a show stopper because of all the shiny chrome details it has. The front and rear LED daytime running lights (DRLs) are separated, creating split headlights on the sides. New 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and a redesigned front bumper are also included. There is an LED strip across the back, L-shaped taillights, and a tailgate that is raised higher. A new faux skid plate and updated styling can be found on its rear bumper. It also has roof rails, a shark fin antenna, and a spoiler.
Hyundai Venue Facelift Full Specifications
There is speculation that after the refresh, the top trim may adopt some of Creta and Tucson’s more high-end amenities, including a more robust infotainment system. Hyundai may update the interior with higher-quality materials to provide a luxury impression. The Venue has standard anti-lock brakes (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), and six airbags (top trim). The availability of an optional Vehicle Stability Management System further contributes to the car’s safety.
Engine and Transmission
Fuel & performance, suspension, steering & brakes, dimensions & capacity, what is new in hyundai venue facelift 2023.
There are a number of improvements that drivers of the Hyundai Venue will notice with the 2023 facelift. The new infotainment system is the most significant of these, since it is now more user-friendly and intuitive. The outside has been modernised, and there is a plethora of new paint and trim choices available inside.
Hyundai Venue Facelift Rivals
There are many rivals to the Venue, including the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300.

The modernised entertainment system comes with a number of improvements, such as a streamlined user interface, refined navigation, and a simplified design. In addition to superior voice recognition, it features a responsive touch screen. Also, the system’s configuration permits it to accommodate a wide variety of languages.
As a result of the remodelling, the interior now has a higher level of luxury and refinement. All of the seats are now more roomy and sumptuous, and they provide additional comfort and support. New bumpers, body lines, and headlights highlight the exterior redesign.

2023 Hyundai Venue Facelift Leaked Brochure – Variants & Colours
The 2023 Hyundai Venue will be available in six variants with different powertrains. The six variants on offer are – E, S, S+, S(O), SX and SX(O). The E and S variants will only be available with the 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine. However, you can’t get the top-end SX(O) variant with this engine option. The 1.0-litre T-GDI turbo-petrol, meanwhile, is available in two variants – S(O) and SX(O). Both the variants are available with manual and automatic transmission options. Lastly, the 1.5-litre CRDi engine is available in three variants – S+, SX and SX(O).

2023 Hyundai Venue Facelift Leaked Brochure – Powertrain
Initial rumours pointed out that Hyundai could offer an automatic transmission for the diesel engine, like the Sonet. There was also a possibility of an iMT gearbox for the diesel. However, both things didn’t happen. Hence, the engine and transmission options for the 2023 Venue facelift are identical to the previous one. To recap, it is available in two petrol and one diesel engine.
First is the Kappa 1.2-litre MPi engine. The naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine produces 83 PS at 6,000rpm and 113.8 Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. The engine is only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The other petrol engine is the Kappa 1.0-litre Turbo T-GDI. The three-cylinder engine uses direct injection and a turbocharger. The motor produces 120 PS at 6,000rpm. At the same time, the peak torque is 172 Nm from 1,500 to 4,000rpm. The turbo-petrol is available with a 6-speed iMT (intelligent-Manual Transmission) or a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
The only oil-burner in the range is the U2 1.5-litre CRDi. The four-cylinder diesel engine makes 100 PS of power at 4,000rpm. The torque figure for the engine is 242 Nm from 1,750 to 2,750rpm. The diesel engine comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

2024 Hyundai i30 Fastback N: Second facelift comes into focus
Posted: 25 October 2023 | Last updated: 26 October 2023
Hyundai is out testing the updated i30 N in Europe, which will be in for its second facelift in the coming months.
Here we can see an updated i30 Fastback N driving in convoy with the existing model, sporting light camouflage concealing the revised details at its front and rear ends.
Our spy photographers noted revisions to the headlights – despite a similar LED daytime running light signature – revised bumpers front and rear, as well as new designs for the front grille and air intakes.
More significant changes could be in the pipeline from a technology and drivetrain perspective.
Given the updated i30 N will likely be one of the last purely combustion-powered Hyundai N cars, there could be some extra power squeezed out of the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which currently makes 206kW and 392Nm – though on overboost it puts out 213kW for approximately 20 seconds.
However, the Elantra N – known here as the i30 Sedan N – was recently facelifted and has received no changes to outputs or significant developments to the drivetrain according to overseas specifications. So, we’ll have to wait and see.
Previous spy photos of the standard i30 Hatch also revealed black sheeting covering parts of the interior, leading to speculation that a technology upgrade could be in the works to bring the ageing small car in line with the brand’s newer products.
Currently the i30 Hatch – irrespective of whether it’s produced in South Korea or Czechia – misses out on features like a digital instrument cluster and the latest and most sophisticated Hyundai SmartSense active safety technologies. Given the i30 remains a European-centric product, it makes sense a tech upgrade is in the works to keep it relevant against the likes of the Volkswagen Golf and Peugeot 308 overseas.
For Australia, production of the i30 Hatch will soon move exclusively to the brand’s Czechia plant , which already is the source of our N versions. Australia was one of very few markets still sourcing core models out of Korea, which will be ceasing assembly of the i30 by the end of this year.
Hyundai’s local division has confirmed that it will introduce the new Euro-sourced non-N i30 Hatch line-up around mid-2024, bringing with it a new-to-Australia 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 48V mild-hybrid (MHEV) technology.
Making 117kW and 253Nm, the 1.5 T-GDi MHEV is available overseas with both six-speed manual and seven-speed dual-clutch transmissions (DCT), with WLTP fuel consumption rated at 6.1-6.3L/100km depending on spec. The current 2.0-litre naturally aspirated unit quotes 7.4L/100km in Australia, while the N Line’s 1.6-litre non-MHEV turbo quotes a thriftier 7.1L/100km.
Speaking of the N Line, European production would also open us up to the fully refreshed N Line look that never made it to the Korean factory. It closer resembles the existing i30 N rather than the pre-facelift model.
Further details will be confirmed closer to the new model’s on-sale date, which is currently earmarked for around May to June next year.
