Surviving what has become of Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is no mean feat — especially if you’re yet to upgrade any of your armor. Fortunately, there’s a set of armor with base defense of +8 per piece , and it even boosts your attack: the Phantom Armor . Defense, it seems, truly is the best offense.

Each of the three pieces can be found in a treasure chest in Hyrule — you don’t need to worry about heading into the Depths or up into the Sky Islands.

Our Tears of the Kingdom Phantom Armor guide will help you find all three pieces of the Phantom armor set: the Phantom Helmet , Phantom Armor , and Phantom Greaves .

Phantom Helmet location

Starting at Popla Foothills Skyview Tower or the Utsushok Shrine in the south of Hyrule, head southeast past the Highland Stable toward Puffer Beach. It’s the stretch of beach in the middle of the southern shoreline.

Once you’re at Puffer Beach, head to the following coordinates: (0293, -3848, 0004) . It will look like a perfectly ordinary stretch of beach, other than the Zonai rockets casually placed to the right of the pool below. You’ll want to grab one of them, Fuse it to your shield and then return to this spot:

Look up and you should see a bunch of Luminous Stone deposits. Stand underneath this and equip your shield to blast through the rocks.

Welcome to Puffer Beach Overhead Cave . Glide down to the floor of the cave and ready your bow because there is a Silver Horriblin waiting for you in the corridor.

Once the enemies are dispatched, head to the back of the cave, where you will find this treasure shrine. It’s a small cave, and very difficult to miss.

Open the chest and grab your first piece of loot, the Phantom Helmet , which grants +8 defense and an attack boost.

Phantom Armor chest piece location

The Phantom Armor is in Tamio River Downstream Cave , which you can fly to from the Gerudo Higlands Skyview Tower .

Once again, this cave is guarded by Horriblins, but these are easier to take out if you’re quick. These Horriblins, who famously can’t swim, are conveniently situated over a pool of water. If a headshot doesn’t kill them, falling into the water will. There are two in here — dispatch them both, then loot the room.

Continue south and you will see the cave fork. To the right is another Bubbulfrog. Grab it, then return to the fork. To the left is the tricky part of this treasure hunt. The path will open up into a cavern that looks like this. You will see the treasure up ahead.

Creep forward and look down the cliff and you’ll run into Gloom Hands . Remember, if you beat it, you’ll have to face Phantom Ganon , too. If you aren’t up to beating him, read on, and then get ready to sprint. It’s doable, but it’s tough.

There are two ways to reach this chest — from the front and from the back. Entering the cave, we’re looking at the back.

The first thing we tried was climbing the walls in a full set of Froggy Armor . This consumed three full stamina wheels, including one gained from eating a meal halfway up the wall.

The more sensible route involves gliding down to the left of the shrine and following the path round to the right. Looking to the right, you will see that the wall is bricked up with breakable bricks, you can break using bombs, hammers, or Yunobo.

Follow the path up and nab your hard-earned treasure: the Phantom Armor chest piece, which boosts your attack and grants +8 defense.

Phantom Greaves location

Head to the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower , or the Siwakama Shrine to the south if you have it. If you go via the Skyview Tower, however, you can see our destination and pin the correct hole.

Just above Link’s head in the above shot, you will see what looks like little dimples in the sand. These little sand vortexes are entrances to the Ancient Altar Ruins. Head for the one marked below.

If you fall into the wrong one , you will be in the actual ruins, so you’ll need to Ascend up to correct yourself. If you do enter the ruins, you’ll see the room we’re looking for, being helpfully pointed out by this statue.

If you jump into the correct hole , you will see the following:

Climb up, nab your greaves, and then check out your sweet new threads.

There’ll also be a Bubbulfrog in this room with you to grab a Bubbul Gem from.

Phantom Armor upgrade costs, effect, and set bonus

The pieces of the Phantom armor each give an attack up buff, which stack the more you have equipped. There is no set bonus , as you can’t upgrade the armor — it’s perfect as it is.

Phantom Armor Set

The Phantom Armor Set in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom embodies the myths of "armored phantoms", supposedly modeled after these fabled villains. Fitting for such a fearsome set of armor, the Phantom Armor set grants a hefty Attack Up bonus when all three pieces are worn together.

Where to Find the Phantom Helmet in TotK

Coordinates: 0266,-3777, 0051

The cave location for the Phantom Helmet will be located near the shores of Puffer Beach along the coast of the Faron Sea and will actually be an overhead cave. You can use the nearby Rockets to launch yourself upward by attaching them to your shield with Link's Fuse ability. Once the Rocket has been fused to your shield, pulling the shield out with the ZL button will skyrocket you towards the cave entrance.

Inside the aptly named, Puffer Beach Overhead Cave, there are two Horriblin crawling about. Once the Horriblin are defeated, you can head further into the cave north, where you will find a small shrine with a Treasure Chest inside.

Interact with the Treasure Chest in this shrine to acquire the Phantom Helmet!

Where to Find the Phantom Armor in TotK

Coordinates: -2967, -0981, 0035

The Phantom Armor is in a chest in the Tamio River Downstream Cave found on the northeastern base of the Gerudo Highlands, located at coordinates -2918, -0799, 0009.

To get there, launch from the Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower , then glide northeast toward Rutile Lake. As the name implies, the cave entrance is downstream from the Tamio River, so you'll want to dive into the ravine that separates the Gerudo Highlands from the Satori Mountain. The Tamio River Downstream cave entrance can be seen in the image above, and when you head inside, be prepared to take on a couple of Horriblins .

When the coast is clear, walk through the passage on the left that's lined with Luminous Stone.

When you reach the end of the short passage, you'll spot an altar across the way which is where the Phantom Armor is located. Unfortunately, the area of the cave is protected by Gloom Hands , and the rock wall underneath the altar is incredibly slippery and near impossible to climb. Because of these circumstances, you'll only have two options to get to the altar. The first is to use a Zonai fan and Tap to Reveal to reach the altar without climbing. While this method will allow you to bypass a confrontation with the Gloom Hands, if you fail to reach the ledge, you'll be left vulnerable to the fearsome foe lurking below.

If you choose to fight the Gloom Hands, you'll remain safe so long as you hold the high ground. Use Bomb Arrows to make quick work of the Gloom Hands, then wrap around the central rock formation housing the Phantom Armor. Here, you'll find a wall of breakable rock. Use stone- Fused weapons or Bomb Flowers to carve through the rock wall, and you'll discover a ramp.

Open the chest at the top of the incline, and the Phantom Armor is yours!

Where to Find the Phantom Greaves in TotK

• Coordinates: -2472, -3651, 0021

To collect the Phantom Greaves, you'll need to access the Ancient Altar Ruins hidden underneath the sand just south of the East Barrens in the Gerudo Desert. This area is full of quicksand which will be depicted on your map as the group of circles shown above.

The fastest way to reach the Ancient Altar Ruins is to fast travel to one of the nearby shrines, such as the Siwakama Shrine or the Motsusis Shrine found within the South Lomei Labyrinth. But if you haven't visited these shrines just yet, launch from the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower and glide southwest until you reach the quicksand-ridden area.

Once you've reached the quicksand, note that all the sand whirlpools will take you down to the Ancient Altar Ruins, where various tons of loot await. However, to collect the Phantom Greaves, you must enter the sand whirlpool just south of the area's center point. If you have trouble determining which whirlpool to take, reference the map above.

If you've taken the correct sand whirlpool, you'll find yourself in an enclosed area with the altar pictured above. Open the chest on the altar, and you'll collect the Phantom Greaves!

Finding the Phantom Armor in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is actually relatively straightforward for those who know exactly where to look for it.

The Phantom Armor is one of the coolest-looking armor sets in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom as well as being one of the easiest to obtain. It also boasts a higher base defense stat than every other un-upgraded armor set that's on offer, making it one of the best armor sets for beginners or those who lack the patience needed to seek out upgrade materials.

Getting the Phantom Armor set in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can be a little tricky if players are going in blind, as all three pieces are hidden away in hard-to-find caves. However, for those who know where to look, it ends up being a fairly straightforward task. In fact, if players have the right fast travel points unlocked, they should be able to gather the complete Phantom Armor set in thirty minutes or less.

Players can find the Phantom Armor in a chest in the Tamio River Downstream Cave, the entrance to which is at the bottom of the canyon connecting the Gerudo Highlands and the southern section of Hyrule Ridge, at the coordinates -2917, -0798, 0010. Players can reach the cave fairly easily by launching themselves from the top of the Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower and then heading east, as there are quite a few islands on which they can stop off to recover stamina along the way. That said, they will need some kind of cold weather protection if they approach the cave from this direction, as the temperatures in the skies above the tower are freezing even during daylight hours.

When they arrive at the cave, they'll need to deal with a few Horriblins, after which, they should follow the path up past the two Luminous Stones. This will lead them to another large cavern, in which they'll see some Gloom Hands down beneath them. Defeating these will lead to a fight with Phantom Ganon, so unless players are feeling confident in their ability to beat him, it's best to just avoid them. That said, for those who already have the Master Sword, defeating Phantom Ganon shouldn't prove to be all that difficult.

Whether they choose to take Phantom Ganon on or avoid the encounter entirely, players should make note of the location of the chest, which is directly in front of them when they first enter the cavern, high up on a ledge inside an ornate-looking shrine. To get to it, they'll need to head around to the area directly behind the ledge and look for a destructible wall at the coordinates -2978, -1015, 0009. Breaking this wall will allow them to run up a slope and reach the chest containing the Phantom Armor.

The Phantom Helmet is in the Puffer Beach Overhead cave. As the name suggests, this can be accessed via Puffer Beach, which is on the southern border of the Faron Grasslands area. Sadly, there aren't any good fast travel locations nearby, meaning that players will likely have to do a bit of climbing in order to reach the beach. They can either teleport to the Utsushok Shrine and then head southwest or go to the Ishokin Shrine and travel southeast.

The cave that they're looking for is just north of a large rockpool, with the entrance directly above the spot with coordinates 0289, -3833, 0003. Due to the incline of the rocks leading up to the entrance, players won't simply be able to climb in. Luckily, though, there are a couple of Zonai Rockets nearby at the coordinates 0261, -3877, 0001, which players can fuse to Link's shield and then activate to gain entry. Once inside, they'll need to take care of a few Horriblins and can then find the Phantom Helmet in the chest at 0296, -3777, 0050.

To get the final piece of the Phantom Armor set, the Phantom Greaves, players will need to head to the Ancient Altar Ruins in the East Barrens area of the Gerudo Desert. The best way to do this is to launch from the top of the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower and then head southeast to the nearby small island with a pool of water in the middle. Here, at coordinates -2235, -2393, 1120, they'll be able to find two Zonai Wings with fans already attached to them and should use one of these to make their way south.

Once they're over the spot on the map with the twelve small circles, players should make their way down to the ground. When they do, they'll see that these circles are pools of quicksand, one of which will lead them down to the chest containing the Phantom Greaves. There are a few that can be explored, but players want the one directly above and to the left of the one in the bottom right-hand corner of the map, which is at the coordinates -2520, -3724, 0000.

The Phantom Armor set is a bit of an anomaly, as, just like in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild , to which it was added as part of the Master Trials DLC expansion, the Phantom Armor cannot be upgraded in Tears of the Kingdom . It can't be dyed, either, which is a shame given that it is one of the best-looking sets in the game. It does make up for this somewhat, though, with its combined 24 defense stat being higher than the base values for every other armor set in Tears of the Kingdom and a pretty decent Attack Up bonus​​​​.

How to get the Phantom Armor in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Where to find all three Phantom Armor pieces across Hyrule.

The Phantom Armor in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom not only makes Link look extremely intimidating, but it also offers a great deal of protection against any and all enemies.

Armor is a crucial part of life in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom , there are multiple different types that you can find while exploring Hyrule and by helping various residents you find along the way. Every piece of the Phantom Armor has a base stat of eight, with plenty of potential to upgrade it to even higher levels.

Without further ado, we're going to show you how to get the Phantom Armor in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

The Phantom Armor in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is made up of three separate pieces, a Helmet, a Chest Piece, and Greaves.

• Phantom Helmet - Base Stat of eight and increases Attack.
• Phantom Armo r - Base Stat of eight and increases Attack.
• Phantom Greaves - Base Stat of eight and increases Attack.

Unlike some other armor pieces in Tears of the Kingdom, it looks like the Phantom Armor set cannot be enhanced at a Great Fairy Fountain . However, all three pieces combined will give Link a grand armor stat of 24 and significantly boost his attack power.

Luckily, all three pieces can be found in the southern half of Hyrule, meaning that you'll only need to do a bit of light travelling to get them all.

How to get the Phantom Greaves in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

To find the Phantom Greaves in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you need to find the Ancient Altar Ruins in the Gerudo Desert. Fast travel to the Siwakama Shrine if you have it, if not, then these are the coordinates for the Siwakama Shrine (-2445, -3342, 0041).

Before you get there, make sure to have heat resistant armor on or at least have a meal or two that boosts Link's heat resistance. It gets very hot in this area during the day.

When you get to the Shrine, look out into Gerudo Desert and you should see a bunch of holes in the ground. These are quicksand holes that will suck Link below into the Ancient Altar Ruins, but there is a specific sinkhole you need to go to.

Once you get to the formation of sinkholes, you need to head for the hole at (-2525, -3703, 0010). We've also highlighted the right circle on the map below:

When you get to the right sinkhole, dive into it and let it swallow Link up. You'll then appear in a small room with sand trickling in from the ceiling.

Once you are in this room, look around and you should see the chest is on a slightly raised ledge. All you need to do is climb up there and open the chest to collect the Phantom Greaves.

How to get the Phantom Helmet in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

The Phantom Helmet in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can be found in a cave on Puffer Beach in south Faron. To find the helmet piece, head to Puffer Beach. You can fast travel to Utushok Shrine near Highland Stable to get closer if you want to, we've also marked the location of Puffer Beach on the map below:

Once you get to Puffer Beach, head to these coordinates (0286, -3849, 0004) and look up. You should see that there is an opening in the rock above you leading into a raised cave.

To get up here, you can grab one of the discarded Zonai rockets against some rocks at (0259, -3875, 0001). Fuse one of the rockets to your Shield and head back to the entrance of the raised cave.

Equip your Shield and ride it up into the cave. Once you land in here, there will be a Black Horriblin and a Horrblin waiting for you. We recommend taking them out as they can be a pain when trying to open the chest.

After dealing with the Horriblins, head through the small opening at the rear of the cave that leads into another cave room and look right. You should see a chest here. Open the chest to collect the Phantom Helmet.

How to get the Phantom Armor in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Now, we've left the Phantom Armor chest piece until last as it's the hardest of the three pieces to find. To find the Phantom Armor in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you need to head to very tip of Tamio River. This is east of the Cliffs of Ruvara, south west of Rutile Lake, and nother east of Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower .

We've marked the location of the tip of the Tamio River on the map below:

Head to the tip of the river and when you get there, look for the entrance to Tamio River Downstream Cave. The coordinates for the Tamio River Downstream Cave entrance are (-2912, -0795, 0010).

Before you head into the cave, we recommend activating any and all of the Sages that you have so far. If you don't have any, we strongly advise that you investigate at least two Regional Phenomena first. However, it is possible to make it through this cave alone with a lot of supplies, meals, elixirs and arrows.

When you're ready, head into the Tamio River Downstream Cave. In the first room, a few Horriblins are crawling around the ceiling but you can completely ignore these if you want to. Keep heading through the cave, making sure to stick to the left side.

Follow the path on the left side of this cave until you come into the beginning of the next room. You should see the chest location opposite you, but do not drop down. There are Gloom Hands below you, and they make getting to the chest very difficult.

You can try to avoid the Gloom Hands, but we did find it easier (surprisingly) to learn how to beat the Gloom Hands and then beat Phantom Ganon who appears after that. Once you've managed to do this, follow the path on the ground to the far side of the cave behind the chest location.

Here, you should see a wall that is blocked by rocks.

Destroy the rocks using a hammer or Sage ability, then climb the newly revealed ramp to collect the Phantom Armor in the chest at the top.

You now have the full Phantom Armor set in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, congratulations! Now, you could make Link even more intimidating by learning how to find Ganon's Giant Horse . Alternatively, if you want to hunt down a different armor set, you could always learn how to find the Zora Armor too.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Phantom armor set consists of three amazing pieces. Not only will you look great when wearing them, but they'll also offer defensive and offensive boosts. Here's our guide to help you get the full Phantom armor set in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Phantom Helmet

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Phantom armor set consists of the Phantom Helmet, Phantom Armor, and Phantom Greaves. We tackle each item's location in this guide.

• Location: Puffer Beach Overhead Cave
• Coordinates: 0275, -3852, 0003.

You'll find Puffer Beach in the Faron region in the southern edge of the map. Upon arriving, you'll notice that the entrance to the cave is up top.

Thankfully, there are a couple of Zonai Rockets nearby. You can Fuse one to a shield, then hold the ZL button, giving you a huge upward boost. Alternatively, attach one to a large rock, then get on top of it before striking the thing.

• Location: Tamio River Downstream Cave
• Coordinates: -2968, -0981, 0035.

The cave is in the river between Gerudo Highlands and Satori Mountain. Upon reaching the large cavern inside, try to keep to the left as you glide down. There's a Mr. Gloomyhands here that you want to avoid as much as possible. If you do end up defeating it, a certain "boss" will also spawn, and that's going to annoy you to no end.

If you manage to avoid these hostiles, you'll see a path that's blocked by boulders. Destroy the obstacles to find a chest that has the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Phantom Armor.

• Location: Ancient Altar Ruins
• Coordinates: -2504, -3702, 0010.

This is in the eastern portion of the Gerudo region. You'll see this peculiar area south of Siwakama Shrine or west of the South Lomei Labyrinth . Basically, there are several pools of quicksand. Only one, which we've marked on the map below, will lead you to the chest. Also, watch out for a Molduga that might be nearby.

Each piece of the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Phantom armor set grants +8 defense, for a total of +24. Not only that, but each piece grants an attack boost, too. You're basically getting both offense and defense, as well as a stylish look.

Though there are plenty of awesome armor sets in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom , the Phantom Armor set not only harkens back to Zelda titles of yesteryear in its design from the Phantom Ganon you defeat in The Wind Waker, but it even offers phenomenal defense and an attack boost to boot.

And while the benefits to the full Phantom Armor Set are numerous, actually locating the pieces can be pretty tricky – they’re all on The Surface, but very well-hidden (and guarded). For help with where to find the Phantom Armor, our guide’s got everything you need.

This guide contains spoilers for multiple sections of Tears of the Kingdom.

You'll be headed to Puffer Beach in the South of the Faron Region for the Phantom Helmet, so warp to Utsushok Shrine outside the Highland Stable for the closest access.

Once you're at Puffer Beach, check out your map to find a circular pool of water with large rocks jutting out, partially beneath a rocky overhang. If you use Ultrahand , you'll discover two Rockets on the edge of the pool.

Attach a Rocket to a shield using your Fusion ability, because you'll need to get some height for this one.

With your new Rocket shield, head over under the rocky overhang above the North side of the pool with the rockets, and look up . You'll immediately see a cave of Luminous Stones just above.

Shield yourself with the Rocket shield active to fly up into the cave , formally labeled as the Puffer Beach Overhead Cave. Just be mindful of the Horriblin here waiting when you land.

Handle the Horriblin and then keep heading through the cave to find the treasure chest in its ornate display, and open it to snag the Phantom Helmet .

Hidden in a cave and guarded by a pretty intense fight, the Phantom Armor may be a challenge for those unprepared to deal with gloom . Be sure to whip up some gloom-canceling meals, and don your Depths Armor for this one.

The cave you're looking for is at the Southernmost point of the Tamio River . The easiest way there is to launch from the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower and sail your way slightly Northeast from there.

When you first enter the Tamio River Downstream Cave, your first obstacle is a couple Horriblins on the ceiling. Thankfully, they're over water , so loose an arrow to knock them into the water to handle them instantly.

Past the Horriblins, the path forks . The right path leads you to the Bubbulffrog in this cave, and the left path leads to the room with the Phantom Armor. You'll see the structure with the chest just ahead when you enter.

But, you'll also see some Gloom Hands lurking about on the floor, which, if beaten, lead to another fight with Phantom Ganon .

The safest way to do this is to handle the Gloom Hands and Phantom Ganon to allow yourself free mobility in here. But, if you're feeling stealthy, you can try to avoid the battle by Paragliding toward the left of the structure with the chest .

If you're opting out of the combat, decide when to sail down carefully by watching the moving Gloom Hands to be sure they're not looking toward you - it doesn't take much for them to notice you and begin their relentless attack.

There are two ways to the chest containing the Phantom Armor. You can try to climb up to it , but with the cave so wet, you'll struggle even wearing the entire Froggy Armor Set .

Thankfully, there's an easier way just around the back of the structure. You'll find a breakable wall here, so smash it or blow it up, then follow the newly-revealed path to the treasure chest with the Phantom Armor inside.

For the final piece of the Phantom Armor, you'll be headed out into the Gerudo Desert . If you've already found the Siwakama Shrine , it's the closest location to where you'll need to be, but launching from the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower will get you there if not.

When you've arrived at your warp location, look on the overworld map of the Gerudo Desert, where you'll see a number of circles on the map . This is your destination, so head on over.

The sandy whirlpools denoted by the circles lead you into the Ancient Altar Ruins , but most of the entry points lead you into the ruins themselves, while only one whirlpool leads to the room with the treasure chest .

The room is filled with Gibdo, Moth Gibdo, and Electric Chuchus , making a great place to farm resources if need be.

You'll need to Ascend back out if you've chosen the wrong whirlpool first. Find the whirlpool that leads to the caged-off section of the room (the one at coordinates -2507, -3728, 0002 ), and drop into it to claim the Phantom Greaves .

The Bubbulfrog for the Ancient Altar Ruins is in the room with the treasure as well.

How to Get Phantom Set

How to Get the Phantom Helmet

The Phantom Helmet is found in a chest inside Puffer Beach Overhead Cave . To get there, you can use the Popla Foothills Skyview Tower and glide southwest to the edge of the map at the coordinates 0268, -3845, 0043 .

The entrance to the cave is on the ceiling of the rock formations on Puffer Beach. Use Zonai Devices like the Zonai Spring or Zonai Rocket to get to the cave.

Continue heading deeper into the cave and you will find a chest that contains the Phantom Helmet .

How to Get the Phantom Armor

To get the Phantom Armor, go to the Tamio River Downstream Cave , which is on the end of the river in Tabantha Frontier , southwest of Satori Mountain.

Head into the cave until you see a breakable wall on the right side just before the end of the cave. Destroy the wall using a Bomb Flower or strong weapon, and open the chest to get the Phantom Armor.

How to Get the Phantom Greaves

To get the Phantom Greaves, go to the Eastern Barrens on the east side of Gerudo Desert. You can get there using the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower and gliding south.

There you will find multiple quicksands that you can enter to reach the Ancient Altar Ruins . Enter the middle sink hole to reach the room where you can find the chest that contains the Phantom Greaves .

Phantom Set Upgrade Materials and Set Bonus

Phantom set pieces, phantom set bonus.

There are no set bonuses given when equipping all pieces of the Phantom Set .

All the pieces of the Phantom Set cannot be upgraded, but has a relatively high base defense stat for a non-upgradable armor.

This makes it a great early-game armor set to obtain when you just started the game as you don't have an abundant supply of materials and Rupees , as well as access to Great Fairy Fountains to upgrade your other armor sets.

The Legend of Zelda series has seen a large number of enemies over the years. One iconic enemy is known as the Phantoms. These enemies were first seen in The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and were well-loved in its successor, The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks.

These iconic enemies were so well-loved by fans that the developers of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom added an armor set based on them. This set, the Phantom Armor set, is one of the best you can get in the game. Here is a guide to tell you exactly how to obtain them.

The Phantom Armor set is a great set. Amazingly, each piece has a base defense of 8. That means that equipping the full set will give you a base defense of 24. Unfortunately, this set's downfall is the fact that it cannot be upgraded. However, until you get your armor upgraded, this is the best. Not only does it have a great defense, but it also has the ability to increase your attack. This can be vital for taking on hard enemies. This set cannot be dyed at the Hateno Village Dye Shop.

This piece of the set can be found on Puffer Beach.

When you get to the area, you will see a cave entrance in the ceiling .

Use your Ultrahand Ability to hold a rock up near the cave entrance for 20 seconds or so.

Once the rock drops, jump on it and use your Recall Ability on it. This will allow you to use the Ascend Ability to get inside the cave.

Inside the cave, you will see a few enemies. Kill them and head deeper into the cave.

In the next room, you will see one of Misko's Treasure Chests.

Opening it up will reward you with the Phantom Helmet.

The Phantom Armor can be found in Tamio River Downstream Cave . This is located just southwest of Satori Mountain.

You will see the entrance to the cave by standing on the ledge of the area.

You'll know you're inside when the Tamio River Downstream Cave name shows up on your screen.

Once inside, you'll see two paths. The left one with the Luminous Stones is the path you want to take. The other is a dead end to a Bubbulfrog.

This will lead you to a room where you can see the chest across the room.

Be extremely careful here; there are Gloom Hands waiting down below. You can try to run past them or fight them.

If you want to fight the Gloom Hands and Phantom Ganon, do so. Otherwise, be ready to run.

To the left side of the room, you will see a path you can take. Run this way. If you are running from the Gloom Hands, make sure to have a Bomb Flower out.

You'll run into a rock wall that needs to be blown up.

After doing that, you can run right up to the chest.

This chest contains the Phantom Armor.

The Phantom Greaves Location

The Phantom Greaves are the easiest to obtain. All you need to do is go to the East Barrens location near Gerudo Town . Here, you will find some sandpits that will lower you underneath the desert. You'll want to enter the one marked on the map.

After jumping into the sandpit, it will spit you out underneath it.

The chest will be directly beside you once you land.

This chest contains the Phantom Greaves.

Tears of the Kingdom: How to Get the Phantom Armor Set in TotK

The adventure is only half of the fun in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom . The other half, at least for myself, finding different pieces of armor spread throughout the lands of Hyrule , granting Link plenty of unique powers and new visual styles. Today, we’re on the search for the Phantom Armor set , worn by a very familiar character in the Nintendo DS sequels. Let’s find out where to gather this armor in the overworld of Hyrule and set out on an adventure together.

Where To Find Phantom Helm In Tears of the Kingdom

To start, you’ll want to unlock and use Popla Foothills Skyview Tower , coordinates (0602, -2119, 0098) and set a pin on Puffer Beach , coordinates (0293,-3862, 0002) . This is going to be near the Highlands Stable if you have already unlocked this location or on the Southern portion of the map. Even with the Glide Armor , you may need to do a bit of walking to get to your final destination.

Once you have arrived on location, look up to see if you notice the Luminous Stones that are shown in the photo above. If you see them, you are in the right spot. If you look to your left at coordinates (0257, -3877, 0001) , you’ll notice there are a few Zonai Rockets available to use. Fuse one to your shield, and rocket into the cave above you .

Once you are inside, you’ll want to head toward the Luminous Stone and the Horriblin waiting for you, using your bow and arrows to knock them off of the wall with a perfectly placed headshot. If you’re finding it hard to aim, turn off Gyro controls for aiming with ease. Once you have defeated this creature, continue into the cave.

Once you make it deep enough in the cave, you’ll come across this shrine with a treasure chest in the middle at coordinates (0290, -3786, 0045) , containing the Phantom Helm . Press A in front of it to claim it for your own, and get ready to search out the Phantom Tunic next.

Where To Find Phantom Body Armor In Tears Of The Kingdom

To get started, warp or travel to the Gerduo Highlands Skyview Tower , coordinates (-3959, -1313, 0422) and set a pin on the Tamio River Downstream Cave , coordinates (-2914, -0792, 0010) . If you have the Glide Armor , you should be able to make it to this location while only losing one and a half hearts in the process if you don’t have any cold resistance food .

If you see something similar to the photo above, you’re in the right location. Once again, you’ll be almost immediately assaulted by two Horriblins , but if you knock them out over the water , they will drown, saving you precious arrows for the room ahead. Once inside the cave, you can either go left or right . Heading to the Right will give you a chance to hunt down a Bubbul and claim another gem for your collection. If you’re only interested in the Phantom Tunic , head to the left cave .

The left cave, coordinates (-2934, -0883, 0010) will be marked with two Luminous Stones . Once you head inside, you’ll have a choice to make. Almost immediately once again, you’ll be attacked by a new type of enemy that you may not have come across before: Gloom Hands . These are very powerful creatures, and if you don’t have enough stamina , you could get caught in their snare. Either choose to fight and defeat the Gloom Hands , or make a run toward the right caves .

Once again marked by two Luminous Stones , head as quickly as possible toward this location, stop in front of the breakable stone wall and get to work. You’ll need to break through to the other side as quickly as possible if you’re hoping to get the armor and get out of here.

Rush up the slope in front of you, and you’ll once again see another shrine with a Treasure chest . Open this up to reveal the Phantom Tunic inside. Two down, one to go!

Where To Find Phantom Trousers In Tears Of The Kingdom

Start at the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower, coordinates (-2432, -2178, 0307), and set a pin on the East Barrens Sand Pits, coordinates (-2506, 3711, 0009). This one is a little tricky, as multiple sand pits are in this area, but we have the exact location in the second photo above .

Launch out of the tower and land on the ground near the East Barren Sand Pits . You cannot fall directly into them, or you will sustain fall damage and die unless you have upgraded the Glide Armor two times . Walk directly into the center, and watch Link get sucked down into the abyss below.

Once you have been sucked through the deep sand, turn around and look for the shrine in the photo above. It’s a very small room, so you can’t miss it. Climb up the wall and get onto the platform to claim the final piece of the Phantom Armor set for your very own.

Can You Upgrade The Phantom Armor In Tears Of The Kingdom

While most pieces of armor can be updated and upgraded to gain better stats, the Phantom Armor set cannot be. Each piece starts at 8 Defense , which is much higher than the standard 3 Defense per piece when you find them, you’ll have a great set of early to mid-game armor once you have obtained this. However, once you can start upgrading other armor to make it stronger, this may become something purely for aesthetics.

Three pieces of the Phantom Armor set in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can allow players to get some of the highest base defense against attacks from Hyrule's dangerous enemies. Divided into the Phantom Helmet , Phantom Armor , and Phantom Greaves , this set calls back to evil phantoms that had this eerie and rare armor equipped. Much like in Zelda: Breath of the Wild , this armor remains an excellent choice for players early in their adventures.

One of the benefits of the Phantom Armor set is that each piece has a Base Defense of 8 , which may be the highest starting armor of any piece of gear Link can find in the game. Some of the best armor sets in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom have special abilities that make up for lower defense, but the Phantom set has both. The absurd defense alone should be enough to encourage players to track down the set.

How To Find The Phantom Helmet in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Players can start searching for the Phantom Helmet near Puffer Beach , a wider location settled around the coordinates ( 0293, -3848, 0004 ). This region lies to the south of Hyrule, right past Utsushok Shrine , if players are looking for a place to fast travel. The beach oversees a wider ocean, with Zonai rockets in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom scattered alongside the sands for players to pick up.

To reach the armor piece, players have to fuse a Zonai rocket into a contraption that boosts Link up . The most common way to do this is to attack a rocket to Link's shield , giving it the ability to propel the player up when activated. Similar to other Zonai devices in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom , players should keep in mind how long the rocket will last based on the complexity of their fusion.

Across the beach, players can look up and spot a hole leading into a cave above them , marked by a Luminous Rock deposit . By using the rocket to launch themselves up, players can enter Puffer Beach Overhead Cave . Host to several enemies in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom , including a Silver Horriblin right away, players must work their way through the cave while defeating enemies along the way .

Players can find the Phantom Helmet within Puffer Beach Overhead Cave , which can be reached by using Zonai Rockets across Puffer Beach to shoot Link up into the cave .

Once players reach the back of the cave system , a small treasure chest may be seen within a shrine at the very end of the area in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom . The Phantom Helmet lies within the chest , giving players +8 Defense and an increase to attack power .

How To Find The Phantom Armor in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Another cave called Tamio River Downstream Cave holds the Phantom Armor, located around the coordinates ( -2968, -0981, 0035 ). Traveling to the Gerudo Highlands , this cave can be found northeast of the Skyview Tower , leading players to a region close to Satori Mountain . Due to how high up this place can be in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom , players might need gear with cold protection to resist the negative climate of these areas.

In the cave, players will once again have to defeat several enemies who climb the ceiling above a body of water before reaching two tunnels to the left and right . Taking the left path leads to a large room with another shrine on a high pillar in the distance with the Phantom Armor. The only issue here is that a dangerous Gloom Hands enemy in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom lurks below, waiting for players to run out of stamina and fall to the cave floor.

Players must get past a Gloom Hands in Tamio River Downstream Cave to reach the Phantom Armor .

Since defeating a Gloom Hands summons Phantom Ganon in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom , players should only try to beat that enemy if they are confident enough in their gear and combat skills. Most of the time, players should avoid the Gloom Hands until they go behind the pillar with the Shrine . Here, a cracked rock wall can be destroyed using a Bomb Flower or with the help of Yunobo , leading to a path up.

At the end of the path, players will find themselves right at the Shrine, with a small chest containing the Phantom Armor . Similar to the Helmet, this piece grants an attack bonus , as well as +8 Armor in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom .

How To Find the Phantom Greaves in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

It can be quite tricky to find the Phantom Greaves since they are found in a sandpit deep within the East Barrens of the Gerudo region . However, by traveling either south from Siwakama Shrine or west from South Lomei Labyrinth , players will find several different swirling pools of sand that act as holes leading to secret underground caverns. One such cavern in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom holds the Ancient Altar Ruins armor piece.

Players have to find the right swirling sandpit in the East Barrens of Gerudo that hosts a shrine with a chest containing the Phantom Greaves .

Situated around the coordinates ( -2504, -3702, 0010 ), players can fly above the sands to pinpoint which quicksand pockets they should enter. Thankfully, Link may easily use the Ascend ability to rise out of any cavern that doesn't hold the right chest. Players will eventually come across a shrine similar to the other two within one of these caves in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom , with a chest containing the Phantom Greaves .

Once again, this piece of the Phantom armor set gives players +8 Armor and an attack power boost . Assuming players have every piece of the set in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom , they should have 3 attack bonuses and 24 Armor in total.

How To Upgrade The Phantom Armor Set in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Unfortunately, the Phantom Armor Set cannot be upgraded , making it a strong armor with little potential for anything more. However, as players get more and more resources, this armor serves as a great starting set of gear for the challenges of the early game before moving on to other upgraded sets.

While the Phantom Armor pieces are something players could certainly get in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom , the absolute defense and attack power may struggle against the tougher enemies and bosses found later in the game.
