Best Wraith Perks – Dead by Daylight

Wraith Killer Guide

Best Add-Ons
As a stealth Killer with good movement speed, there are a large number of viable perks for Wraith. In this guide, we’ll list some of the best choices, and explain why they’re effective in general, and for Wraith specifically. Listed first are “General” perks, i.e. perks available for free without purchasing any DLC chapters or Killers . Then, we’ll list unique perks, i.e. perks that you can only get by purchasing the associated Killer, or by purchasing them from the Shrine of Secrets .
For more information on how unlocking perks works, see our Killer Loadouts guide .
Best General Perks for Wraith
In case you don’t want detailed info (and just want to know which perks to try out), here are the best general perks for Wraith in Dead by Daylight:
Bitter Murmur
Hex: no one escapes death, hex: thrill of the hunt, sloppy butcher.
Read on to find detailed explanations on how the perks work, and why they’re effective on Wraith!
Each time a generator is completed, the Auras of all Survivors within 16 meters of that Generator are revealed to you for 5 seconds . Once the last generator is completed, the Auras of all Survivors are revealed to you for 5 / 7 / 10 seconds .
Anything that gives you more information about where Survivors are is super helpful, especially when you’re still learning a Killer. In addition to showing you where the Survivors go after they finish a gen, this perk lets you know how many Survivors were on that gen, letting you make a better decision about starting a chase vs applying pressure to other generators.
The 10 seconds of Aura reading it gives you when the final gen finishes can save you from losing a game badly — 10 seconds should be more than enough time to find a Survivor and start a chase, helping you get at least one more hook before the game ends. Additionally, if you are also running Hex: No One Escapes Death, you’re almost guaranteed to get a down thanks to the vision Bitter Murmur provides.
Pairs well with Hex: No One Escapes Death.

Ah, NOED. If there ever was a perk to get people angry at you in the post-game chat, this is it. Since Wraith lacks the ability to one-hit-down without Perks, he can really struggle to get kills once the Exit Gates are powered — NOED fixes this problem.
Pairs well with Bitter Murmur and Hex: Thrill of the Hunt
For each Totem remaining in the Trial, this perk gains 1 Token . Survivors suffer an 8 / 9 / 10 % penalty to totem cleansing and blessing actions per token (to a maximum of 40 / 45 / 50 % . You receive a 10% bonus to Bloodpoints gained in the Hunter category for each token, up to 50% .
Since this perk starts with 5 tokens, the initial cleansing and blessing of totems is significantly slowed (from 14 to 21 seconds). Every second counts in DBD, and given how popular Boon perks are in the current meta, Thrill of the Hunt will give you significant value. Still, you should only take this perk if you’re combining it with other Hex perks — otherwise, there are stronger choices.
Pairs well with other Hex perks.
When you down a Survivor, all generators within 32 meters instantly explode, losing 6 / 7 / 8 % repair progress , and then start regressing.
Kicking generators takes time — Jolt lets you regress nearby generators when you down a Survivor, with no need to interact with said generator(s). The 6/7/8% progress removal is an even bigger help! Of course, you have to down Survivors near generators, so this perk really shines when you’re guarding a 3-gen or otherwise sticking to generators you want to defend.
Pairs well with slowdown perks.

Pairs well with Nurse’s Calling.
Whenever at least one Survivor is within 48 / 40 / 32 meters of your location, this perk activates, and you hear the sporadic whispers of the Entity .
This is the best basic tracking perk you can get (Spies from the Shadows is more precise, but less reliable). The audio cue is OK, but the real value comes from simply seeing the perk light up, letting you know there are survivors nearby. This makes patrolling much more efficient, as you can quickly determine whether a Survivor is present in the part of the map you’re in.
Pairs well with any non-tracking perks (You generally don’t want to equip more than one tracking perk).
Best Unique Perks for Wraith
Again, if all you want is a list of the best perks to take, here are the best unique perks for Wraith in Dead by Daylight:
A Nurse’s Calling (Nurse)
Bamboozle (clown), call of brine (onryo), corrupt intervention (plague), discordance (legion), eruption (nemesis), hex: devour hope (hag), make your choice (pig), save the best for last (shape), scourge hook: pain resonance (artist), thanataphobia (nurse).
The name in parentheses is the Killer you need to unlock the perk on to make it available to all characters. Read on to find detailed explanations on how the perks work, and why they’re effective on Wraith!
The Auras of Survivors who are healing or being healed are revealed to you within 20 / 24 / 28 meters .

This perk is best utilized in a build that focuses on applying pressure to multiple Survivors.
Pairs well with Sloppy Butcher.
After vaulting a window, the Entity will block that window for 8 / 12 / 16 seconds , making it impossible for Survivors to vault. Additionally, your Vaulting speed is increased by 5 / 10 / 15 % . Can only affect one window at a time — does not work on Pallet vaults.
As a “mouse 1” Killer that relies on basic attacks to injure Survivors, Wraith needs to be able to end chases as quickly as possible. Being able to block a window with Bamboozle can make it possible to catch Survivors at strong loops like the Killer Shack, where Wraith would otherwise struggle. Since Wraith can vault while cloaked, you can also block a nearby window, then reveal yourself and chase a Survivor towards it for an easier second hit.
This perk is best utilized in a build that focuses on committing to chases.
Pairs well with Save The Best For Last and Corrupt Intervention, or Perks/Add-ons that also increase vault speed, like Fire Up, Superior Anatomy, and the “Shadow Dance” add-ons.
After damaging a generator (by kicking it), Call of Brine activates for 60 seconds on that gen. The damaged generator regresses at 150 / 175 / 200 % of normal regression speed, and its Aura is revealed to you. Each time a Survivor succeeds at a Good Skill Check on a generator affected by Call of Brine, you receive a loud noise notification.
This is one of those Perks that’s basically good on every Killer, and Wraith is no exception. It lets you more effectively defend key generators, and gives you valuable information about when Survivors are working on said gen. It works on multiple gens, and since Wraith can move around the map quickly (and kick gens without decloaking) it’s easy to apply Call of Brine to multiple generators — even easier if you bring one of the “Shadow Dance” add-ons that significantly increases the speed at which you kick gens.
Pairs well with perks that activate upon kicking generators, such as Eruption and Nowhere to Hide. Also pairs well with the Wraith Add-ons “Shadow Dance” – White and “Shadow Dance” – Blood.
We’ve already mentioned that Wraith doesn’t have a one-hit down — but it’s one of the defining characteristics of the Killer, so we’re gonna keep bringing it up. Once again, his inability to quickly end chases is why you’d want to pick this perk. Corrupt Intervention means there are only 4 generators available to Survivors for the first 2 minutes of the game. This allows you to commit to chases more easily, since it’s much more possible to keep track of all the generators and their current progress.
This perk is best utilized in builds that focus on committing to chases.
Pairs well with Bamboozle and Save The Best For Last.
Generators being repaired by 2 or more Survivors will be marked with a yellow aura, up to 64 / 96 / 128 meters . When a generator is first repaired by multiple Survivors, you will receive a Loud Noise Notification on the generator. The Aura will linger for 4 seconds after only being repaired by 1 Survivor.
Wraith’s move speed makes it easy to take advantage of the information provided by Discordance. Knowing that there are two (or more) Survivors on a generator means that you can go and apply pressure to at least two Survivors at once, which is an incredibly valuable use of your time.
Pairs well with slowdown perks like Thanataphobia, and the “Wind Storm” Add-ons.

Like Call of Brine, this is one of those perks that’s just straight up good on every Killer. The 10% progression removal is great, but even better is the fact that any Survivor working on a gen when it explodes via Eruption won’t be able to do gens for 25 seconds . This is a significant length of time to deny Survivors their main objective. This allows you to commit to chases away from generators you want to protect, since you can effectively “defend” generators you’ve marked with Eruption simply by getting a down.
Pairs well with perks that activate upon kicking generators, such as Call of Brine and Nowhere to Hide. Also pairs well with “Shadow Dance” add-ons.
Each time a Survivor is rescued from a Hook while you are at least 24 meters away, Hex: Devour Hope receives 1 Token . Gaining more tokens grants the following effects:

Pairs well with Make Your Choice, Hex: Undying, and Hex: Thrill of the Hunt.
Pairs well with Hex: Devour Hope and the “All Seeing” – Blood add-on.
You become obsessed with one Survivor. Each time you hit a survivor other than your Obsession with a Basic Attack, Save the Best for Last gains 1 Token, to a maximum up 8. For each Token, gain 5% cooldown reduction on sucessful Basic Attacks, to a maximum of 40% . Each time you hit the Obsession with a Basic Attack, this perk loses 4 / 3 / 2 Tokens . If the Obsession is killed, this perk can neither gain nor lose additional Tokens.
As a mouse 1 killer, being able to more quickly recover from the first hit lets Wraith end chases a lot faster. Assuming you manage to fully stack it fast enough, this perk can have a dramatic impact on your ability to get that all-important second hit. However, it requires paying attention to who you’re chasing, and making sure you only Basic Attack the Obsession if it’s absolutely necessary.
Pairs well with Sloppy Butcher, Bamboozle
At the start of the Trial, 4 hooks are turned into Scourge Hooks , the Auras of which will become white . When a Survivor is hooked on a Scourge Hook, the generator with the most progress will explode — it loses 9 / 12 / 15 % of its repair progression and starts regressing. Any Survivor repairing the affected gen when it explodes will scream, but not reveal their location.
Like Eruption and CoB, this is a gen-protection Perk that is strong on most Killers. Being able to take 15% progress from the gen closest to being finished is obviously strong, but you need to make sure you’re trying to chase Survivors near your Scourge Hooks to take full advantage of this perk. Because it can sometimes be tough to get to a Scourge Hook fast enough, it can be a good idea to take Agitation, a Trapper perk that increases your movement speed while carrying a Survivor.
Pairs well with Agitation.
Wraith may struggle to end chases, but he’s very good at sneaking up on Survivors and getting them injured. Therefore, Thanataphobia can be a good choice, as it isn’t that difficult to get 3-4 Survivors injured. When combined with Sloppy Butcher, you can force Survivors to either waste a lot of time healing, or else significantly slow down their ability to repair generators.
Pairs well with Sloppy Butcher, Hex: Ruin, and A Nurse’s Calling.
We hope this guide on which perks to choose for Wraith was helpful! If left out a perk you think deserves to be on the list, or if you have any questions or suggestions, let us know in the comments.

Dead by Daylight Wraith build (October 2023)
The Wraith is a fun Killer to master.

The best Dead by Daylight The Wraith build is one that uses its speed and stealth well. The Wraith is a stealthy Killer that was introduced when Dead by Daylight released back in 2016, alongside other original characters like The Trapper and The Hillbilly. Much like other Stealth Killers in Dead by Daylight, using The Wraith is going to take a lot of practice to get right and scare the pants off the Survivors.
In this guide, we'll go over exactly how you should be playing The Wraith, from his perks, add-ons, playstyle and so much more.
Table of Contents
Dead by daylight wraith perks, what is the best build and perks for the wraith, dead by daylight wraith powers, best add-ons for the wraith in dead by daylight, dead by daylight wraith tips and tricks.
The Wraith has three unique perks that can be unlocked for other Killers via the Bloodweb.
Scratch marks left by Survivors spawn slightly/moderately/considerably together.
The blood of injured Survivors is shown as bright red and can be tracked 2/3/4 seconds longer than normal.
Your FOV (field of vision) is increased by 9/12/15%
We would go with the following perks for the best possible Wraith build:
Discordance ( The Legion Perk)
Any Generator within a range of several metres that is being repaired by 2 or more Survivors is marked by a yellow Aura. When the Generator is first highlighted, Discordance triggers a Loud Noise notification on the Generator.
After the Generator is no longer within range or is being repaired by just 1 Survivor, the highlighted Aura will linger for another 4 seconds.
A Nurse's Calling ( The Nurse Perk)
Unlocks potential in your Aura-reading ability. The Auras of Survivors, who are healing or being healed, are revealed to you when they are within a range of several metres.
Hex Ruin ( The Hag Perk)
A Hex that affects all Survivor's Generator Repair progress. All Generators automatically regress at percentage of the normal Regression speed whenever they are not being repaired. The Hex effects persist as long as the related Hex Totem is standing.
Pop Goes the Weasel ( The Clown Perk)
A deep bond with The Entity unlocks great strength. After hooking a Survivor, Pop Goes the Weasel activates for the next several seconds.
The next Generator you damage instantly loses 25% Progression. Regular Generator Regression applies afterwards and Pop Goes the Weasel deactivates.
The Wraith’s Power is called The Wailing Bell.
The Wraith carries The Wailing Bell alongside him, and it gives him the power to smack it with his weapon (Azarov’s Skull) in order to cloak and turn invisible, as well as hit again to decloak. It should be noted that The Wraith is always invisible at the start of the match.
When The Wraith is invisible he can move faster than he normally would. For example, when not cloaked The Wraith moves at the average speed that most other Killers do, aka 4.6m/s. But when cloaked, The Wraith moves at 6.0m/s instead and even that can be improved on with certain add-ons and perks.
When cloaked, The Wraith also gains the Undetectable status effect - effectively silencing The Wraith’s Terror Radius (aka a heartbeat and music) from Survivors. It is only when decloaked that a Terror Radius is given to the Killer.
There is a downside to The Wraith’s power, though. Not only is hitting The Wailing Bell audible to Survivors, he has to decloak to hit them - which means that if Survivors see you coming (via the small shiver or hearing The Wraith’s breathing) they are able to get some distance from you.
Each Killer comes with a number of different Add-Ons that’ll either improve the Killer’s base kit or change it entirely for more fun and engaging gameplay. The Wraith is no exception to this, so we’ve picked out the best Add-Ons for you to choose from.
Coxcombed Clapper
This Iridescent add-on renders The Wailing Bell completely silent. This means that The Wraith can sneak up on Survivors, either from a distance or from behind a wall, and effectively jump-scare them off the generator. When paired with another add-on that reduces decloak time (such as Swift Hunt - Blood), you’ll be able to effectively target Survivors and keep them guessing.
All-Seeing - Blood
As it says in the name, this lets a cloaked Wraith see Survivors when they’re within 12 metres of you. The only downside to this is that you’ll need to remain cloaked in order to sneak up on Survivors, but when paired with other all-seeing perks like I’m All Ears, this add-on can make The Wraith’s hunt for Survivors strong and relentless.
The Ghost - Soot
While only a brown add-on, this lets The Wraith’s Terror Radius and Red Stain remain suppressed for 6 seconds. While Survivors will still hear The Wailing Bell (unless paired with the Coxcombed Clapper), they won’t know exactly where you’re coming from, giving you the opportunity to get them where it hurts.
Swift Hunt - Blood
This add-on tremendously reduces the time needed for The Wraith to decloak - something which is one of the Killer’s greatest weaknesses. The less time it takes for The Wraith to decloak, the less time Survivors have to escape the short burst of speed he gets when fully decloaked. There are lesser versions of this add-on too, such as Swift Hunt - White and Swift Hunt - Mud.
- The Wraith is great at trapping Survivors into tight spaces. If you find them on a Totem or one-person Generator with little room to escape, trap them in with your body. Because you’re cloaked they won’t see you coming unless they’re paying attention, meaning you can get a free hit by decloaking and giving them a whack.
- Predict a Survivor’s movements and use it against them. If you’re in a Chase and see the Survivor going towards a Pallet, cloak up and stand in the middle of the Pallet to block them off and get a free hit. This works for Vaults too.
- Nurse’s Calling will let him see the aura of Survivors as they heal, with Sloppy Butcher making it longer for them to heal in the first place. These two perks are great for The Wraith players out there who like to sneak up on wounded Survivors in their most vulnerable moments.
- The Wraith has superior speed, but his decloaking can be a pain. If a Survivor runs to a place where there are a lot of pallets, sometimes it’s best to hit them and then find someone else to rush off Generators. This strategy works well with the perks Ruin and Undying.
- Another great build for The Wraith is equipping the perk Bamboozle, as well as an add-on that helps his speed when moving over Vault spaces. With this, The Wraith is able to block off strong Vaults and force Survivors away from safe areas and out into the open.
- Some players are able to tell if a Killer is coming to them through the use of a perk called Spine Chill. To avoid being detected (even when cloaked), tilt your camera slightly so you’re looking a little away from the Generator or Survivor. This lets you get the drop on them and makes the Survivor waste a perk too.

Dead by daylight killer guide: the wraith (perks, tips, & strategies).
The Wraith in Dead By Daylight is a stealthy Killer able to cloak and decloak to attack Survivors. His personal Perks make him a better tracker.
Many famous monsters and villains from popular horror media have featured as Killers across various DLC chapters in Dead By Daylight , but developer Behaviour Interactive has also created a comprehensive catalog of original Killers. The Wraith is one of the original base-game Killers that players unlock after completing the full Tutorial for the game. Philip Ojomo, The Wraith, was once an immigrant working at a scrap yard, where he unwittingly crushed people to death inside every car set to be destroyed. According to Dead By Daylight lore , when he found out about this after freeing someone from one of the cars and watching his boss kill the man by hand, he snapped and shoved his boss into the crusher, taking his head and spine as a trophy. As a Killer, The Wraith can cloak and uncloak at the ringing of his Wailing Bell, becoming invisible to track and sneak up on Survivors.
Related: Dead by Daylight Killer Guide: The Plague (Perks, Tips, & Strategies)
Like all other Killers in Dead By Daylight , The Wraith has two main powers and three unique personal Perks that can eventually be unlocked for all other Killer characters. He can ring his bell to cloak and uncloak and can hit them with his ax made from the head and spine of his former employer. His powers can be greatly improved with Add-Ons, including a few special options that make his bell muffled or completely silent to further terrorize Survivors. The Wraith is considered an Intermediate-difficulty Killer, and he is currently the most played Killer in the Dead By Daylight community . Here's everything players should know about The Wraith's abilities and strategies for playing him effectively in Dead By Daylight .
How to Build The Wraith in Dead By Daylight
When Killers choose to use The Wraith as their character in Dead By Daylight , they will need to master his two basic weapon powers. His basic attack is a standard-range strike with Azarov's Skull, an ax fashioned from the skull and vertebrae of his former employer. More importantly, he hits his Wailing Bell with Azarov's Skull, which allows him to cloak and uncloak. While cloaked, as long as he is not moving, The Wraith becomes entirely undetectable. While moving and cloaked, he has no Terror Radius and moves faster. He is not totally invisible, however; particularly observant players within 20 meters can see his shimmering outline or notice the environment moving in response to his presence, like corn and grass shifting. The Wraith also always emits a low growling or snarling sound that seasoned players can easily recognize nearby.
The Wraith cannot do anything to interact with the Survivors while cloaked and must stop to uncloak first. However, he gets a 1.25-second speed burst upon uncloaking, which can be used to quickly lunge at and injure or down Survivors. He can also break Pallets and damage Generators while cloaked. By default, cloaking takes 1.5 seconds and uncloaking takes 3 seconds, though this time can be shortened with Add-Ons. The sound of the Wailing Bell can be heard by players up to 24 meters away, and the uncloaking sound can be heard up to 40 meters away.
The Wraith has three unique Perks , all suited for tracking down Survivors while cloaked for maximum stealth attacks. Like other characters, once The Wraith reaches levels 30, 35, and 40, his Perks begin to appear in the Bloodwebs of other Killers. These Perks can be especially useful for new Killers who want to get better at winning chases and loops. The Wraith's personal Perks are:
- Predator : The Scratch Marks left by running Survivors are slightly/moderately/considerably closer together.
- Bloodhound : Pools of Blood left by injured Survivors are brighter red and last 2/3/4 seconds longer than normal.
- Shadowborn : The Killer's Field of Vision is increased by 9/12/15. This will not stack with other Field of View buffs.
While all three of The Wraith's unique Perks can be useful, playstyle will dictate which ones a player equips and which they borrow from other Killers. Most players who use The Wraith end up swapping several or all of his personal Perks for better options, especially once players get the hang of tracking. The Wraith can benefit significantly from Generator-stalling Perks and Healing penalty Perks. Some alternative teachable Perks that work well with The Wraith's stealth include:
- Corrupt Intervention (The Plague): At the start of the Trial, the three Generators farthest from The Killer are blocked by The Entity for 80/100/120 seconds.
- Hex: Ruin (The Hag): All Generators automatically regress at 100/150/200% of the normal Regression speed when not being repaired.
- Pop Goes the Weasel (The Clown): After hooking a Survivor, the next Generator the Killer damages instantly loses 25% of its progress. Regular Generator Regression applies after.
- Agitation (The Trapper): While carrying a Survivor, the Killer's Movement Speed is increased by 6/12/18% and their Terror Radius is increased by 12 meters.
- A Nurse's Calling ( The Nurse ): The Auras of Survivors healing or being healed are revealed within a range of 20/24/28 meters.
- Dying Light (The Shape): For as long as the Obsession is alive, all Survivors suffer from a stackable 2/2.5/3% penalty to Repairing, Healing, and Sabotaging speeds, up to a maximum of 22/27.5/33%. The percentage increases each time a Survivor who is not the Obsession is hooked. The Obsession is unaffected by the penalty and gains a 33% Action Speed bonus for unhooking and healing.
- Discordance (The Legion): Any Generator within 64/96/128 meters of the Killer that is being repaired by two or more Survivors is highlighted yellow and triggers a Loud Noise notification only the Killer hears.
- Hex: No One Escapes Death : Once the Exit Gates are powered and there is at least one Dull Totem on the Trial Grounds, this Hex activates. Killers receive a 2/3/4% increase in Movement Speed and Survivors are permanently Exposed.
Players will need to experiment with Perks to find the best build for them, but often The Wraith is built best as a stealth Killer with speed and Objective progress stalling in mind.
Players can use Add-Ons found in The Wraith's Bloodweb to increase his power. The best options reduce the time it takes to cloak and uncloak and muffle or eliminate the sound of the Wailing Bell to improve stealth. These include:
- "The Ghost" - Soot : After uncloaking, The Wraith's Terror Radius and Red Stain remain suppressed for six seconds
- Bone Clapper : Survivors can no longer discern the Wailing Bell's distance or direction
- "Swift Hunt" - Mud : Moderately reduces the Wraith's uncloaking time
- "Swift Hunt" - White : Considerably reduces the Wraith's uncloaking time
- "All-Seeing" - Blood : When cloaked, Survivors' Auras within 12 meters are revealed to the Killer
- Coxcombed Clapper : Renders the Wailing Bell completely silent.
Killers are limited to whatever items appear randomly in their Bloodweb, so it is a good idea to experiment with different Add-Ons to find a combination that works best for the player's preferred style and selected Perks.

Using his Wailing Bell to render himself invisible, The Wraith tracks his prey and strikes with little warning. Upon hearing the Bell’s fateful chime, Survivors must think fast or suffer the consequences. A hit-and-run specialist, The Wraith is adept at keeping everybody injured.
Power and perks

Wailing Bell
Ring the Wailing Bell to cloak, becoming invisible and losing the Terror Radius. Though The Wraith cannot attack while invisible, uncloaking grants a deadly lunge capable of injuring unsuspecting Survivors. Remember – The Wraith becomes slightly easier to spot at close distance, and his Wailing Bell rings out loudly while uncloaking and cloaking.
Scratch marks left by Survivors spawn closer together, allowing for efficient tracking.
Pools of blood left by injured Survivors shine bright on the ground, making it easier to pick up a trail.
Expand your field of view for increased visibility, which helps with tracking elusive Survivors.

Dead By Daylight Best Wraith Build (2022)

What is the best Wraith build in Dead by Daylight? Hopefully, this guide will help get to the bottom of that question as well as giving players all the information they need to help elevate their skills with the killer who originally launched with the game.
Further down we’ll cover off her standard perks and powers as well as the perks we would opt for when trying to assemble the best Wraith build in Dead By Daylight. Naturally, this is subjective and we’ll always attempt to keep this page updated as new chapters and major updates are released.

The Wraith Power & Perks
The Wraith killer has three unique perks that can be unlocked for other killers via the Bloodweb.
Alternatively, you can also unlock them via the games Shrine of Secrets .
We’ve detailed everything you need to know about these 3 main perks, just below.
In addition to his standard perks, The Wraith can also use his unique power called Wailing Bell . Here’s how it works:
“Ring the Wailing Bell to cloak, becoming invisible and losing the Terror Radius. Though The Wraith cannot attack while invisible, uncloaking grants a deadly lunge capable of injuring unsuspecting Survivors. Remember – The Wraith becomes slightly easier to spot at close distance, and his Wailing Bell rings out loudly while uncloaking and cloaking.”

What are the best perks for The Wraith?
When creating the best build for The Wraith, we would personally opt for the following perks to maximise his potential:
A Nurse’s Calling – This perk is unique to The Nurse
- Unlocks potential in your Aura-reading ability. The Auras of Survivors, who are healing or being healed, are revealed to you when they are within a range of several metres.
Discordance – This perk is unique to The Legion
- Any Generator within a range of several metres that is being repaired by 2 or more Survivors is marked by a yellow Aura.
- When the Generator is first highlighted, Discordance triggers a Loud Noise notification on the Generator.
- After the Generator is no longer within range or is being repaired by just 1 Survivor, the highlighted Aura will linger for another 4 seconds.
Hex Ruin – This perk is unique to The Hag
- A Hex that affects all Survivor’s Generator Repair progress. All Generators automatically regress at percentage of the normal Regression speed whenever they are not being repaired. The Hex effects persist as long as the related Hex Totem is standing.
Pop Goes the Weasel – This perk is unique to The Clown
- A deep bond with The Entity unlocks great strength. After hooking a Survivor, Pop Goes the Weasel activates for the next several seconds:
- The next Generator you damage instantly loses 25 % Progression.
- Regular Generator Regression applies afterwards and Pop Goes the Weasel deactivates.

Dead by Daylight: Best Builds for The Wraith (2023)
Easy to learn and difficult to master, The Wraith in Dead by Daylight can use these powerful perks to complement his power.
One of the first Killers to ever arrive in the Fog, Dead by Daylight ’s Wraith is a fast-moving, nearly silent ghost that can stalk Survivors while remaining Undetectable . With such high movement speed, he can cut off Survivors’ only means of escape before going in for the kill. With the right selection of perks, this Killer can be a formidable foe.
This guide will highlight some of the best builds to run with The Wraith in Dead by Daylight , with perks featured both in the base game and in the variety of DLC Killers , for players with varying levels of experience.

The Wraith: Best Build (2023)
As a Killer with little chase potential outside of his uncloak speed boost, arguably the most effective build for The Wraith includes a number of generator slowdown perks as well as something to help find Survivors. This build features The Plague's Corrupt Intervention to prevent early game progress, as well as Pop Goes the Weasel and Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance to slow them down throughout the mid-game. Meanwhile, Discordance can keep track of generators that are being repaired by multiple Survivors.
- Corrupt Intervention (The Plague) – At the start of the trial, the 3 generators furthest from the killer's starting location are blocked for 120 seconds or until the first survivor is downed.
- Discordance (The Legion) – Any generators within 128 meters that are being worked on by 2 or more survivors will be highlighted in yellow.
- Pop Goes the Weasel (The Clown) – After hooking a Survivor, kicking a generator in the next 45 seconds will remove 30% of its current progression.
- Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance (The Artist) – The Killer starts with four tokens. For each different Survivor hooked on a white Scourge Hook, lose one token and explode the generator with the most progress, causing it to lose 25% of progress.
The Wraith: Best Non-Teachable Build (2023)
For players with only access to the base game, Wraith’s own perks are some of the most niche and ineffective in Dead by Daylight . As such, it’s much better to use General Perks like Jolt and Sloppy Butcher to slow down the mid-game , Fearmonger to help speed up chases, and Hex: No One Escapes Death to potentially secure kills in the Endgame Collapse.
- Jolt (General Perk) – Downing a Survivor causes all generators within a 32–meter radius to lose 8% progress.
- Sloppy Butcher (General Perk) – Basic attacks cause the Mangled and Hemorrhage status ailments, slowing down healing by 25% and regressing healing progress when left unfinished.
- Hex: No One Escapes Death (General Perk) – After the final generator is completed, all survivors suffer from the Exposed status ailment and users gain a 4% Haste effect until the Hex Totem is cleansed.
- Fearmonger (General Perk) – Any Survivor working on a generator is inflicted with the Blindness and Exhausted status ailments. These effects linger for 5 seconds after stopping repairs.
Dead by Daylight is currently available for Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Best Wraith Builds in Dead by Daylight
He will find you, so there's no use hiding.

In Dead by Daylight , every killer has a unique method of killing, such as setting traps or using knives to take down survivors. It is very important to play through all of the killers to find out which one works best with your playstyle, as not everyone will suit every player.
That also does not mean you can just get into the shoes of any killer by default, though. Every killer needs a different set of perks and builds to operate well.
The Wraith, also known as Philip Ojomo, was an immigrant to the United States who took a job in a scrapyard. After discovering that he had been compressing cars with people inside, he lost his mind and pulled his boss’ head and spine from his body. As one of the original killers, Wraith is known to be one of the easiest to control.
Perks such as Predator, Bloodhound, and Shadowborn make him very effective at tracking down Survivors. He is arguably one of the best killers for hunting survivors and can be incredibly frightening to play against. It is important that you take advantage of his silent movements if you wish to play as him.
Below we’ve highlighted the best builds you can use as The Wraith.
Different perks make each killer more effective, even if they come from other killers’ blood webs. It’s necessary to have perks from other killers to use the builds below.
Wraith Beginner Build
Wraith was one of the first killers and was marketed as one of the easiest to use, so this build is intended for beginners. Even though this build is intended for beginners, anyone can use it regardless of their style preferences. The build below won’t hold you back, but it won’t be as good as the other builds below. It is versatile, but it isn’t as useful as one designed for a specific style of play. You can use this build to learn the moves of Wraith and figure out which style you prefer.
With this build, the Wraith will be exactly what is needed to kill survivors, which is all you need at first.
- The first perk should be Whispers , which you can get from any killer’s blood web.
- The second perk should be Sloppy Butcher , which you can get from any killer’s blood web.
- The third perk should be Bloodhound , which you can get from the Wraith.
- The final perk should be Shadowborn , which you can get from the Wraith.
Min/Max Wraith Build
This next build capitalizes on what makes the Wraith great: his speed and effectiveness at close range. The Wraith’s weaknesses, like fatigue, cannot be compensated for. This Wraith has a smaller stun duration, making him better in chases. Any time you kill a Survivor, nearby survivors will scream, revealing their positions. Any work done by the generators nearby will also be rendered useless when they explode and regress. Additionally, whenever you hook a survivor, you can see the auras of others nearby.
- The first perk should be Infectious Fright , which you can get from the Plague.
- The second perk should be Barbeque & Chili , which you can get from the Cannibal.
- The third perk should be Surge , which you can get from the Demogorgon.
- The final perk should be Enduring , which you can get from the Hillbilly.
True Wraith Build
This Wraith build is made for players who want to really roleplay as a true Wraith. Playing it feels like you’re the killer in a horror movie. Your Survivors will bleed more effectively and can fall over if untreated. Any injured, downed, or hooked survivors gain a stackable penalty for repairing, cleansing, and sabotaging. Whenever a generator isn’t repaired, it will regress and become more damaged over time. Regressing generators will have a white aura, and when they are being repaired, they will be highlighted in yellow for up to 16 seconds. Generators being repaired up to 8 meters away will also be audible.
- The first perk should be Surveillance , which you can get from the Pig.
- The second perk should be Hex: Ruin , which you can get from the Hag.
- The third perk should be Sloppy Butcher , which you can get from the every killer’s blood web.
- The final perk should be Thanatophobia , which you can get from the Nurse.
Efficient killer Wraith Build
This Wraith build is meant for players who want to remove their enemies quickly and get away. You can go around the map and cause massive chaos and destruction without worrying about Survivors adapting too quickly. An aura will appear around a generator whenever two or more survivors are working on it. You’ll also be able to see whenever a Survivor is healing their friends. When you injure, almost kill, or hook a survivor, they’ll receive a stackable penalty for cleansing, sabotaging, and repairing. Survivors you have injured will bleed harder and more rapidly, causing them to lose blood at a rate that will force them to get healed or die.
- The first perk should be Discordance , which you can get from the Legion.
- The second perk should be A Nurse’s Calling , which you can get from the Nurse.
- The third perk should be Sloppy Butcher , which you can get from any killer’s blood web.
Best Wraith Build
This is arguably the best Wraith build just because it works so well with the killer. The three furthest generators from you will be blocked at the start of the game. When you pick up a survivor, all generators not currently being worked on will be blocked for 16 seconds by The Entity. This is enough time to hook a survivor and find another, which is even better because the other survivor’s auras nearest to you will be revealed to you for four seconds. Finally, if any Survivors manage to finish a generator, The Entity will block the next generator that is closest to completion for up to 30 seconds. Since you’re so fast, you can really get survivors with this build.
- The first perk should be Deadlock , which you can get from the Cenobite.
- The second perk should be Barbeque & Chili , which you can get from the Canibal.
- The third perk should be Corrupt Intervention , which you can get from the Plague.
- The final perk should be Thrilling Tremors , which you can get from the Ghost Face.

Dead By Daylight: Tips For Playing As The Wraith
Become an unstoppable spectral slasher with these tips playing as The Wraith in Dead By Daylight.
The Wraith in Dead By Daylight was one of the original three Killers that came with the game when it launched back in 2016. This spectral stalker is considered by many in the Community to be pretty overpowered, and it's something that hasn’t changed much since his first appearance.
RELATED: Dead By Daylight: How To Counter Every Stealth Killer
The Wraith, or Philip Ojomo as he was known in his mortal life, is a stealth-heavy Killer that can cloak at will, becoming completely invisible and borderline impossible to keep track of. This ability is an absolute nightmare for Survivors to deal with, and it’s always terrifying to see him suddenly appear out of the mist right next to you, a dull toning bell the only sound you hear before he carves out a chunk of flesh with his wickedly sharp skull weapon. He can be a hard Killer for new players to pick up and play but to make the most of this spectral slasher, here are a few tips for playing as The Wraith in Dead By Daylight that are worth trying.
10 Ring That Bell
It can’t be understated just how strong The Wraith is. Even though his power level does fluctuate rather wildly whenever a new patch comes around, he's still a bit unbalanced and it's unlikely that will ever be changed. The most powerful tool at his disposal is his Wailing Bell and you should be ringing that skull-faced artifact as often as you can.
Pressing and holding the power button will ring the bell, causing The Wraith to cloak, doing the same again whilst invisible will then uncloak him again. The bell can be heard up to 24 meters away, and whilst you would think being completely silent would be more beneficial, hearing the ominous tolling of this trinket is always terrifying from the Survivors' perspective. It always means one of two things, either The Wraith is nearby and about to hit you, or he’s just cloaked and is now watching, waiting for a moment to attack. It’s paranoia-inducing every time, so ring it often if you want to watch players panic.
9 Observe Your Prey
Whilst with other Killers you’re often encouraged to charge in swinging , disrupting Survivors like a rabid, heavily armed sheepdog. As The Wraith your playstyle should be more Predator than Terminator.
Cloak often and patrol around, figure out where Survivors are heading or trying to hide and let them slip into a false sense of security. Observe other players for a moment or two before launching your attack, pick on stragglers or emerge from the shadows amongst a group and watch them scatter before you. Patience pays off, so take a moment and create a plan.
8 Try Hit-And-Run Tactics
To further lean into how stealth-heavy The Wraith is, if you want to use him in the best way then your attacks should be hit-and-run heavy. He doesn’t have much to help him in an outright fight against a large group of Survivors as his melee weapon of Azarov’s Skull is basically just a big mallet, and it's easy to run rings around him.
He’s best used in quick ambushes on loners, especially those on a generator as Survivors will be more focused on performing a Skill Check so they won't see you coming. Also, if you want to add a bit of weight to your hits then it’s worth using the green Blind Warrior add-on as it can apply the Mangled and Hemorrhage status effects, or use the yellow variant to add Blindness.
7 Add-Ons Recommended For The Wraiths Bell
When it comes to Add-ons, The Wraiths doesn't have the best selection to play around with when compared to other ghostly Killers in Dead By Daylight like The Spirit. They have the usual stat bumps for things like movement speed, improved action speed, and faster cloaking or decloaking, so you can improve his base stats somewhat if you want. But unlike other Killers such as Pig or Pinhead, where you have an absolute smorgasbord of powerful trinkets, The Wraith's most useful Add-ons are limited to just a small handful.
RELATED: Dead By Daylight: Underrated Perks For Survivors
For example, Coxcombed Clapper renders the bell silent, so no more ding-a-ling to let people know where you are, which is ridiculously powerful considering that sound is the only way Survivors stand a chance against him. Then there’s All Seeing-Spirit, which shows the repair progression of generators with different aura colors when you’re cloaked. Finally, there’s All Seeing-Blood which reveals Survivors within eight meters when you’re cloaked. If you’re looking for good add-ons that aren’t just power boosts then those are the three worth using.
6 Perks Recommended For The Wraith
Similar to The Trapper and The Hillbilly, the biggest downside of these early Killers is that their Perks are pretty Vanilla. They were introduced before the developers found their rhythm and got creative with their characters, so his starting loadout is pretty tame by comparison with other more recent Killers. His starting passives of Predator, Bloodhound, and Shadowborn can make chasing down Survivors a bit easier, but you definitely should swap these out for more powerful Teachable Perks as soon as you can.
A great place to start would be Discordance which marks generators with two or more Survivors on it, also Nurses Calling which highlights the auras of players that are healing. Finally, it's worth using Pop Goes The Weasel as it boosts generator regression by 25 percent after a successful hooking. These three combined synergize well with The Wraith as they maximize your map awareness and give a nice bump to your ability to slow down the other team's escape attempts.
5 Get Creative With The Cloak
The Cloak Ability is your strongest asset and if you want to use it effectively, then you’re going to need to get creative with it. Playing mind games and dirty tricks on the other team is a great way to successfully slow the Survivors down and generally be a frustrating pain to deal with.
For example, try going invisible and walking away during a chase to make them think you’ve given up and are leaving. Or just constantly ding your bell over and over again to infuriate and annoy other players as it’s extremely loud and they’ll want to run far away from you just to avoid the overwhelming noise of it. Another particularly nasty trick you can pull is to stand in the middle of pallets or in front of windows whilst cloaked. This invisible body blocking can confuse Survivors for a moment into thinking it’s just hitbox jank, giving you time to decloak and give them a nice big scare and a smack.
4 Find Yourself A Nice Spot To Sit
Sadly The Wraith doesn’t really have a lot going for him outside of the cloak, so you’re pretty much reduced to cheap tactics and what is basically trolling. Yes, this isn’t the nicest thing to be on the end of, but as this particular Killer, you kind of have to if you want to stand a chance.
Camping out a hook is generally frowned upon within the etiquette of Dead By Daylight and those on PC might want to not look at the chat after a Trial if you decide to do this. But, if you manage to hook a Survivor, it’s recommended that you use the cloak and act like you’re leaving, then just either stand nearby or around a corner and wait for the rescue team to turn up. Once they do just decloak, run at them and start swinging. Even if you don’t down someone, you'll still get some cheap hits in which will eventually cause someone to stop and heal, opening them up for another ambush.
3 Attack From The Rear
Whilst you’re running around as this gruesome ghost, there’s one thing that’s worth keeping in your mind and that’s your position of attack. The Wraith is extremely difficult to keep track of, but once he reveals himself it’s pretty easy for Survivors to escape his grasp. The decloaking takes a few seconds and during that time his bell is ringing loud and clear for all to hear.
RELATED: Dead By Daylight: Best Survivors For Beginner Players
To get around this, it’s worth coming at other players either from a blind spot in the rear or an angle they won’t expect. Position yourself in a way that makes it harder to guess where you’re going to be coming from when playing as this stealthy Killer in Dead By Daylight. It’s easy to get the drop on someone with how effective his stealth ability is, so before you go charging in, just make sure you have the best possible approach first.
2 Tips For Flushing Out Survivors
Most of your time spent as The Wraith is going to be spent cloaked and observing where other players are going, but sometimes you’re going to have to get physical and rush in there to flush out Survivors. Especially if their escape attempt is close to completion.
When out patrolling, try suddenly charging without warning towards areas someone could be hiding in. Such as the Corn on the farm maps or large buildings. A nasty trick to combine with this is to cloak just before you enter these tiles. The other players will think you’ve gone invisible to get right up to them and usually this is enough to get them to panic and bolt out of their hiding spot. Or if they’re camped out in a building, let them see you first, then activate it but just stand there. They’ll then think you've entered and you'll get to see where they're hiding as they reposition to avoid where you might be.
1 Don’t Be So Eager To Hook Survivors
When you’re playing Dead By Daylight as a Killer it’s easy to fall into the rhythm of chase, hit then hook, and whilst that can work as a strategy for The Wraith, it’s worth using any injured victims you have for other nefarious purposes. Set a trap with your new plaything and watch other players run to their doom as they try to help their friend.
As an example, after you knock someone down, leave them crawling along the dirt, injured, and screaming for help. This will bait out other players and once they run in to help, just decloak and give them a nice big smack. Not only does it get some damage in on the other team, but it also sows a little discord as Survivors will now be more hesitant to help each other out as it could be another trap.

[Top 5] DbD Best Wraith Builds That Are Strong

One of the classics with an easy power to learn and hone, the Wraith is a killer with both mobility and chase potential perfect for players of any level. The Wraith’s wailing bell allows him to cloak and uncloak at will, increasing his speed and sometimes helping get the jump on Survivors. His simple basekit makes for high versatility when it comes to builds, so here are a few of his best!
1. All-Star Wraith

Beautiful artwork by betti357 showcasing Wraith's blighted cosemtic
A build dedicated to kicking generators just like the good old days, this utilizes some of the best gen kicking perks and combines them with a very powerful addon. “Shadow Dance” - Blood functions as a substitute Enduring with additional benefits and saves you a perk slot! Also, Dragon’s Grip is typically a difficult perk to run in general builds, but as long as you pay attention to it in this one, you’ll definitely get some value from it.
- Call of Brine: After performing the Damage Generator Action on a Generator, Call of Brine activates for 60 seconds. The damaged Generator regresses at 150/175/200% of the normal Regression speed and its Aura is highlighted to you in yellow. Receive a Loud Noise Notification each time a Survivor hits a Good Skill Check on the affected Generator.
- Overcharge: Performing the Damage Generator Action on a Generator applies Overcharge: The next Survivor interacting with that Generator is faced with a difficult Skill Check. Failing the Skill Check results in an immediate Progression loss of 3/4/5%. Succeeding the Skill Check grants no bonus Progression, but prevents the Generator from exploding. After Overcharge is applied to a Generator, the following effect applies: Increases the Regression speed from 75% to 200% over the next 30 seconds.
- Dragon’s Grip Performing the Damage Generator Action on a Generator activates Dragon's Grip for the next 30 seconds: The first Survivor interacting with the damaged Generator will scream, revealing their location for 4 seconds, and suffer from the Exposed Status Effect for 60 seconds. Dragon's Grip has a cool-down of 120/100/80 seconds.
- Oppression: Performing the Damage Generator Action on a Generator activates Oppression: Causes up to 3 additional Generators to also start regressing. Triggers a difficult Skill Check on all Survivors currently repairing one of those Generators. Oppression has a cool-down of 120/100/80 seconds.
- “Shadow Dance” - Blood: Increases the Action speeds for breaking Breakable Walls and Pallets, damaging Generators, and vaulting Windows by +60% while cloaked
- “Swift Hunt” - Blood:Reduces Uncloaking time by -12%
This build is great at adapting a strategy from the past into something new and incredibly effective! The Wraith can easily traverse between generators, making him one of the few killers that can swiftly pull this build off. So if you’re looking for a chokehold on gen progress, consider this build!
2. Stealth mode

A more spiffy Wraith in his valentines outfit. Fun fact, this cosmetic was inspired by the play Phantom of the Opera
For those wishing to stick to the Wraith’s sense for stealth, this build lives up to it. The combined perks and addons makes for a strategy of spooking Survivors and quickly downing them before they can get much distance. I recommend bringing an offering for an indoor map if you plan on being as stealthy as possible!
- Save the Best for Last: Each time you hit a Survivor other than your Obsession with a Basic Attack, Save the Best for Last gains 1 Token, up to a maximum of 8 Tokens: Gain a stack-able 5% Cool-down reduction on successful attacks per Token, up to a maximum of 40%. Each time you hit your Obsession with a Basic Attack, Save the Best for Last loses 4/3/2 Tokens. When the Obsession is sacrificed or killed, you can neither gain nor lose any more Tokens.
- Fearmonger: Whenever a Survivor is repairing a Generator, they suffer from the Blindness and Exhausted Status Effects. If the Survivor is already Exhausted, their Status Effect's timer will be paused. The Status Effect lingers for 3/4/5 seconds after the Survivor stops repairing.
- I’m All Ears: Any Survivor performing a rushed action within 48 meters of your location has their Aura revealed to you for 6 seconds. I'm All Ears can only be triggered once every 60/50/40 seconds.
- Deadlock: Whenever a Generator is completed, The Entity blocks the Generator with the most progression for 20/25/30 seconds. The Aura of the blocked Generator is revealed to you in white during this time.
- Bone Clapper: Survivors are unable to discern distance and direction of the Wailing Bell's tolls
- “The Ghost” - Soot: Continues to suppress the Terror Radius and the Red Stain of The Wraith for 6 seconds after uncloaking
Not only is this build effective for quick downs, but it can also be used for generator pressure. Deadlock works fine as a passive perk, but the combination of Fearmonger and the addons make it so that Survivors can be easily pushed off of gens as they scramble to get away.
3. Heartbreaker

This cosemtic set sent fans theorizing like wild if the Nurse and Wraith might be having a deadly affair?
Inspired by Youtuber RedsGamingGears, this build is meant to take advantage of Wraith’s capable “Hit-And-Run” playstyle. Due to his high mobility, it’s easy for this killer to get hits quickly, on both Survivors and generators.
- Pop Goes the Weasel: After hooking a Survivor, Pop Goes the Weasel activates for the next 35/40/45 seconds: Performing the Damage Generator Action on a Generator instantly regresses it by -20% of its current Progression, after which normal Regression applies.
- Thanatophobia Each injured, dying, or hooked Survivor afflicts Survivors with a stack-able 1/1.5/2% Action Speed penalty to Repairing, Sabotaging, and Cleansing, up to a maximum of 4/6/8%. Increases the Action Speed penalty by a further 12%, if there are 4 Survivors, who are either injured, dying, or hooked at the same time.
- Sloppy Butcher: Wounds inflicted by Basic Attacks cause Survivors to suffer from the Haemorrhage and Mangled Status Effect: Increases the Bleeding frequency by 50/75/100%. Increases the Regression rate at which partial Healing Progression is lost through Haemorrhage by 15/20/25%. Both Status Effects are removed once the Survivor is fully healed.
- “Blind Warrior” - White: Survivors hit with a Surprise Attack suffer from the Mangled and Haemorrhage Status Effects until fully healed.
- “Shadow Dance” - Blood: Increases the Action speeds for breaking Breakable Walls and Pallets, damaging Generators, and vaulting Windows by +60% while cloaked.
The addons compliment the perks very well in this build, ensuring you won’t be wasting your time when injuring Survivors or kicking gens! The slowdown added by both Thanatophobia and Sloppy Butcher are a plus as well.
4. Hooked On Gens

In game render of Wraith's blighted skin mixed with his beloved candle skin
For players who love pursuing generators just as much as Survivors, here’s a build for you! The addition of Coup de Grâce acts as a saving throw for chases, and Make Your Choice helps with snowballing downs. The addon included for aura reading is the one you’ll be leaning on the most for generator pressure.
- Dead Man’s Switch: After hooking a Survivor, Dead Man's Switch activates for the next 20/25/30 seconds: While activated, any Survivor that stops repairing a Generator before it is fully repaired causes The Entity to block the Generator until Dead Man's Switch's effect ends. Affected Generators are highlighted by a white Aura.
- Make Your Choice: Each time a Survivor is rescued from a Hook when you are at least 32 meters away, Make Your Choice activates: The Rescuer screams and suffers from the Exposed Status Effect for the next 40/50/60 seconds. Make Your Choice has a cooldown of 40/50/60 seconds.
- Coup de Grâce: Each time a Generator is completed, Coup de Grâce grows in power and gains 1 Token. Consume 1 Token to increase the distance of your next Lunge Attack by 70/75/80%.
- Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance: At the start of the Trial, 4 random Hooks are changed into Scourge Hooks: The Auras of Scourge Hooks are revealed to you in white. Each time a Survivor is hooked on a Scourge Hook, the following effects apply: The Generator with the most Progression explodes, instantly losing 9/12/15% of its Progression and starting to regress. Survivors repairing that Generator will scream, but not reveal their location.
- “All Seeing” - Spirit: When cloaked, the intensity of the Aura of Generators reveal their Repair progression.
- “Windstorm” - Blood: Increases Cloaked Movement Speed by +9%.
This build relies heavily on mobility and quick decisions, so if you want to feel like you’re everywhere on the map at once, this is a good choice! “All Seeing” - Spirit works for both information and pressure if you target your generators and players correctly.
5. Aura Lover

Wraith's unlockable skin from DbD's fifth anniversary, how the time flies!
Inspired by infamous DbD Youtuber Otzdarva, this build rewards hooks with plenty of information and generator slowdown. The two perks Barbecue and Lethal help in quickly starting chases, and the addons aid in catching up to Survivors straight out of uncloaking.
- Barbecue & Chilli: After hooking a Survivor, all Survivors who are at least 60/50/40 meters away from that Hook have their Aura revealed to you for 4 seconds.
- Lethal Pursuer: At the start of the Trial, the Auras of all Survivors are revealed to you for 7/8/9 seconds. Extends the duration of a Survivor's Aura being revealed to you by +2 seconds. Lethal Pursuer benefits from its own effect.
- Jolt: When you put a Survivor into the Dying State with your Basic Attack, all Generators within 32 meters of you instantly explode and start regressing. Applies an immediate 6/7/8% Progression penalty.
- “Windstorm” - Blood: Increases Cloaked Movement Speed by +9%
- “Swift Hunt” - Blood: Reduces Uncloaking time by -12%
This build helps a bit in every area you need as Killer, with chase support, slowdown and aura reading to keep you on track! The addons are a deadly combination if you use your wailing bell mid-chase as well, so if you haven’t utilized that strategy as Wraith yet, use it with these!

How To Counter The Wraith In Dead By Daylight

Dead by Daylight's Killers vary in the level of stealth in their approach: Michael Myers and Ghost Face rely on the stealth mechanic for their success. In contrast, others like The Mastermind have a huge terror radius warning Survivors of their imminent arrival.
The Wraith plays a bit differently, relying heavily on his invisibility to avoid detection and ambush Survivors, which can be challenging if you don't yet know how to counter these unique strategies and playstyles. In this guide, we'll take a deeper look at how to counter one of Dead by Daylight's stealthiest Killers, The Wraith.
Update 27 March 2023 - This article has been updated to reflect all of the changes to Dead by Daylight that affect the best counters to The Wraith.
Look And Listen For The Wraith
The Wraith might have the ability to become Cloaked, making it harder for Survivors to hear him approaching - but that doesn't mean he's completely invisible all the time. Instead, while he might be easy to miss if you aren't paying attention, you can see a glimmer of The Wraith's silhouette when he moves (though he does remain invisible when standing still!).
The Wraith also makes a soft growling sound as he approaches, so you can not only see this Killer coming if you're vigilant but hear him, too.

Stay Healthy Against The Wraith
The Wraith is often played as a hit-and-run Killer, meaning that many players' strategy is to ambush Survivors, hit them, run away, and then hit them again at a later opportune time to earn the down. In addition, The Wraith is granted a short but impactful burst of speed after he Uncloaks, meaning you don't want to be caught off-guard and injured in front of him as he does so.
Therefore, it's in your best interest to stay healthy throughout the match as often as possible to prevent The Wraith from ambushing you with his speed burst. You can achieve this by allowing other Survivors to heal you, bringing along a useful item like a med-kit , or adding some of the best Survivor perks , like Boon: Circle of Healing, to your build.
Expect And Identify Cheeky Add-ons
The Wraith might be a simple Killer in premise, but his playstyle can change drastically depending on what add-ons players choose. Some add-ons completely silence The Wraith's Wailing Bell, which alerts Survivors that he is Uncloaking; another causes the sound to fill the whole map when The Wraith Uncloaks, disorienting the Survivor team and confusing their sense of space around them.
If you expect these add-ons and familiarize yourself with them, you won't be caught off-guard by a Wraith with a silent Wailing Bell pulling you off a generator! Here are a few of the most common Wraith add-ons that tend to cause problems for new Survivors:
- Coxcombed Clapper - Silences the Wailing Bell completely.
- Bone Clapper - Causes the Wailing Bell to echo across the map, making it impossible for Survivors to discern its distance or location.
- "The Ghost" - Soot - Wraith’s Terror Radius and Red Stain stay suppressed for 6 seconds after uncloaking.
That's all you need to know to succeed and escape more trials against The Wraith. Good luck out there in the fog!

Dead by Daylight is synonymous with its pantheon of Killers, so we’ve decided to rank all of them in a handy DBD Killer tier list, from The Trapper to The Xenomorph, to help you decide who may be your next malicious main.
As a Killer in the game , it’s your job to hunt down hapless Survivors with your array of Killer Perks and sacrifice them to The Entity. For that, you need to know who is the strongest and weakest in the game right now.
Read on for our full DBD Killer tier list, and see if you agree with where we’ve placed them all.
- Be sure to check out our Dead by Daylight codes so you can get an enviable amount of Bloodpoints, and a few other surprises
Dead by Daylight Killer Tier List

Below, we’ve ranked the Dead by Daylight Killers based on their current state in the game . Dead by Daylight receives frequent updates, so a Killer that may seem weak now, may end up stronger in the future (and vice versa).
So, be sure to keep checking back with our DBD Killer tier list to see whether the placements change.

All DBD Killer rankings explained
S-tier killers.

The Blight’s speed is his biggest asset, being able to close the gap to a Survivor that has gained a great deal of distance. While he can’t phase through walls, he can bounce off them before rushing to take down a Survivor.
The Blight is a character intrinsically tied to the deeper lore of Dead by Daylight, having transformed several Killers with his wretched experiments. So, it is only natural he be one of the S-Tier Killers in DBD.
The Mastermind

Resident Evil’s Albert Wesker is one of the most intense Killers to face in DBD. With his Virulent Bound ability, he is able to quickly chase down Survivors and then infect them with the Uroboros virus to hinder their movement.
Additionally, his ability allows him to grab Survivors by the throat and throw them across the map. A terrifying thing to be sure, but not as terrifying as being grabbed instantly and slung over his shoulder to be hooked.

Of all the Killers in Dead by Daylight, The Nurse may be the most contentious. Being able to phase through walls and rapidly traverse from one end of the map to another fundamentally removes certain aspects that are integral to the core of the game. Namely, looping during a chase.
While losing line of sight with her can make things difficult, as well as a hefty cooldown after using her power, she still poses a threat to Survivors and has long been considered the most powerful Killer in the game.
There is truly nothing scarier than a good Nurse player.
A-Tier Killers

When it comes to range and zoning, The Artist is second to none, with her deadly Dire Crows that can injure Survivors from far away, and even help track the direction they’re running in.
What sets The Artist apart from other ranged Killers is her movement speed is that of a standard Killer. While most travel slower to make up for their stronger abilities, The Artist can chase down Survivors as quickly as she can swarm them with her crows.
The Executioner

The Executioner, or Pyramid Head, is one of the most formidable Killers in DBD. With his trenches, he can condemn Survivors and send them to a Cage of Atonement across the map. Additionally, with a built-in instant kill, he can end a Survivor’s time in a match sooner than expected.
Having swapped Silent Hill for The Realm of The Entity, Pyramid Head can also launch his secondary attacks through walls, pallets and windows, so it is essential to keep a keen eye out, lest you end up one of his next victims.

A good Hag has always been a terrifying thing, but since her buff, she has become even more of a threat. She can lay a network of traps around the map, she can teleport to Survivors who trigger them, and quickly lure them into more.
Originally, Survivors could remove her traps by shining their flashlights on them. However, to make her more of a viable Killer in the current state of the game, Survivors now have to take the time to wipe them away, wasting precious time that could be spent repairing Generators.
The Huntress

Despite having a simple concept, The Huntress is one of the most tactical Killers, with the best range by far in Dead by Daylight. With the ability to send swirling hatchets across the farthest reaches of the map, she has the potential to snipe unsuspecting Survivors before they even know what’s hit them.
With a recent buff to her reload speed, she has become even more terrifying. Longtime players will know her iconic lullaby, and realise that there is a massive danger lurking in The Fog with them.
- If you’re looking for some Perks to counter these Killers, be sure to check out some of the best Survivor Perks in Dead by Daylight

Similarly to The Plague, The Oni has a slow start when a match begins in DBD. By injuring Survivors, he gains a huge chunk of his power, and injured Survivors leave blood around the map for him to collect. Once he has collected enough, his Blood Fury activates – and then you should run.
The Oni’s Demon Dash will quickly close the gap to a running Survivor, and if they’re not careful, they could be taken down in one hit using his vicious Kanobo. When the roar of The Oni reverberates across the map, it may be best to hide.

Ah, The Plague. The Vommy Mommy herself (and my main since I started playing) is by far one of the most powerful Killers in Dead by Daylight. With the ability to vomit on Survivors to infect and prevent them from healing, she can take down Survivors often with a single hit.
While it may take her a while to gain her true Corrupt Purge power (which can fire a projectile of deadly vomit incredibly far), once she does, she becomes a force to be reckoned with and can quickly snowball a match.

There was a time when The Spirit would have been an S-Tier Killer. However, after some significant nerfs, she’s found a home with the other A-Tier Killers. By being able to turn invisible and phase around the map, she can quickly stop a chase and sneak up on unsuspecting Survivors.
Alongside her horrifying origin story, The Spirit will strike fear in the hearts of Survivors who aren’t listening intently to the sound of her phasing hiss.
The Xenomorph

The latest Killer to be added to Dead by Daylight, The Xenomorph is the iconic perfect organism from the Alien film franchise. In talking to the developers on the release of The Xenomorph, they detailed how essential it was that The Xenomorph had a power that reflected just how powerful it was in the films.
With a tail that can pierce Survivors from a distance and able to crawl beneath the map to pop out from various nests, it stands out as one of the ultimate Killers that can devastate a team, providing it can avoid the flamethrower turrets Survivors can use.
B-Tier Killers
The Cenobite

Hailing from Hellraiser, The Cenobite (or Pinhead) is at his most powerful when he is chasing Survivors. With his ability allowing him to chain them up and slow them down, he can quickly catch up to a Survivor to inflict a most deadly punishment.
Pinhead is one of a few Killers that give Survivors secondary objectives in Dead by Daylight. With his puzzle box being the key to his power, if it goes unsolved, it will most certainly hinder their progress as they attempt to shake off the chains it creates.
The Deathslinger

As one of the few ranged Killers in DBD that can use a ranged weapon, The Deathslinger must move a little slower than most to balance things out. With a speargun that can reel in Survivors to their deaths, he can command a space quickly, despite his hindered speed.
The Demogorgon

Despite the removal of the Stranger Things content in DBD , players who have been with the game for some time can still play as The Demogorgon if they purchased it in time.
With its Shred attack, The Demogorgon can leap toward Survivors before goring them to oblivion.

When it comes to shutting down a looping Survivor, The Doctor’s powerful electric charges will cause them to scream and prevent them from performing actions, such as vaulting and throwing pallets in a chase.
Additionally, his static blast helps him track down Survivors, making it incredibly difficult to hide from a determined Doctor.

Perhaps the spookiest Killer in DBD, The Dredge can plunge a match into total darkness as it hunts down Survivors. When in this dark state, it is exceptionally difficult to find your way around, with your vision impaired and the sounds of moaning victims engulfing your ears.
The Dredge is an amalgamation of fear and can utilise lockers, (usually a haven for a baby Dwight), by teleporting to them and bursting from them suddenly. If you’re inside a locker The Dredge teleports to, you better hope someone is nearby to save you from an instant grab.
The Ghost Face

The iconic Ghost Face is one of the stealthiest Killers in DBD. With the ability to go completely undetectable, he can stalk Survivors and, should he completely stalk them all the way, eventually down them with a single hit.
With the ability to crouch and manoeuvre around the map, spotting a Ghost Face is essential if you want to survive the entirety of a match. So, be sure to keep an eye out for a spooky face staring back at you.

The Knight does what knights do best, he protects. When it comes to guarding generators, The Knight is second to none, able to deploy guards to patrol and attack anyone who may try to start repairing.
The Knight, like The Skull Merchant, is something of a contentious Killer with his ability to hold three Generators for a long period. So, if a rework or update should occur, his position as a B-Tier DBD Killer may change.
- Be sure to check out our guide on the best builds to run on Ellen Ripley to stand a better chance at surviving these Killers in Dead by Daylight
The Nemesis

Like The Executioner, The Nemesis has a powerful ranged attack that can break pallets and hit Survivors over tricky loops. However, that power, while strong, is also its biggest weakness. It requires two hits to injure a Survivor, and multiple hits to level up to enhance its range.
However, the Zombies that The Nemesis brings into a match can come in handy for zoning and tracking down Survivors, in addition to being creepy as can be.
The Nightmare

Freddie Krueger used to be one of the weakest Killers in Dead by Daylight. However, a significant overhaul saw him become one of the most powerful. Now, he fits nicely in the middle as a decent Killer to play for any newcomer.
Personally, I favour using his dream pallets of his slow-down snares. Watching a Survivor pull down a pallet that they think is going to save them, only to result in their demise, is never not entertaining.
The Singularity

After being introduced during the End Transmission chapter , The Singularity took Survivors to the furthest reaches of a distant planet for them to meet their end. By placing cameras around the map, The Singularity can monitor key areas before teleporting to Survivors that are spending too much time on Generators for their liking.
Its ability to monitor Survivor activity makes it one of the most observant in the game, and can quickly shut down a gen-rushing squad in no time at all.

When it comes to stealth Killers in DBD, The Wraith is the original. By ringing his bell, he becomes completely transparent and can sneak up on Survivors easily. After a significant nerf to his overall attack speed when emerging from his power, The Wraith is in quite a good and balanced place right now.
Only time will tell if he will work his way back up the DBD Killer tier list.
C-Tier Killers
The Cannibal

Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of the best Killers to pick if you’re just starting with DBD. With an ability that is easy to handle, he can quickly down Survivors and hook them in his basement (just don't be a camping Bubba. Nobody likes that).
His ease of use is about all he has going for him at the moment, but that is by no means a bad thing. His Perks are some of the best in the game, and shouldn’t be sniffed at either.

The Clown doesn’t have much going for him. While he can slow down Survivors with his noxious gases, and raise his own speed, it is difficult to maintain a constant pressure around the map and keep Survivors off of Generators.
However, when it comes to chases, his bottles of poison can discombobulate a Survivor, blurring their vision and making those precious seconds it takes to get to a pallet count.
The Hillbilly

Despite being one of the fastest Killers in Dead by Daylight, The Hillbilly is, in fact, a shell of what he used to be. His chainsaw overheats, his movement feels lumbering, and his power add-ons do very little to help enhance what used to be a very strong ability.
Hopefully, he’ll get a few tweaks in the future, but for now, he sits comfortably in the lower tiers.

The Legion has had a peculiar journey since joining Dead by Daylight with the Darkness Among Us chapter. While initially far too powerful (to the point of nearly breaking the game) The Legion is a master at keeping Survivors injured.
While it is always a frightening thing to be injured and near death, staying injured also allows Survivors to put their time into completing their objective, which is where The Legion’s ability falls down.
- Don’t forget to check out some of the best Nicolas Cage builds in DBD, so you can escape the match with his reputation intact

The spooky girl from inside the TV is crawling out to condemn hapless Survivors who don’t watch their tapes in time. The Onryo has a built-in killing mechanic, and as such, Survivors need to keep an eye on their Condemned meter.
The Onryo’s placement may fluctuate with future updates, as while she can wipe out an entire team without even hooking them, getting to that point requires a great deal of work and time management.
The Skull Merchant

The Skull Merchant has quickly become one of the most controversial Killers in Dead by Daylight, to the point that she has received a significant rework since her release in the Tools of Torment chapter. By using her drones, she can monitor the location of Survivors, as well as give them traps that can cause all manner of problems.
However, not that her power has been significantly nerfed, she has very little in her hunting arsenal to make any real impact, and even a team that is only half organised can run rings around her.
The Trapper

Despite being the poster boy for DBD, The Trapper can be a tricky Killer to master, owing mostly to his slow set-up time. By placing bear traps around the map, The Trapper has to hope and pray that they snare a Survivor who wasn’t looking where they were going.
With some reworks to allow him some extra speed after placing a trap, The Trapper is slowly but surely creeping his way up the tier list, and may even see himself going up a tier if his tweaks continue to go in a positive direction.
The Trickster

Who says that terrifying Killers can’t also be beautiful? In the case of The Trickster, he certainly turns that idea on its head. A sadistic K-Pop idol, he can throw a volley of knives to chip away at Survivors from afar.
Unlike The Huntress, The Trickster’s knives do not injure immediately and require several lacerations before the full injury. This, matched with his slow speed, makes him one of the weaker ranged Killers. However, a Trickster player who can balance their time and make precise shots can still be a frightening thing.

It breaks my heart to place The Twins here because they used to be quite a formidable pair of Killers in Dead by Daylight. However, following some significant nerfs, they have become increasingly difficult to play, and often top the list of least-played DBD Killers.
While it is certainly fun to run around the map as little Victor and pounce on unsuspecting Survivors, it is unfortunately quite punishing, and a single misplay can change an entire match for the worse for them. With any luck, they’ll be reworked for the better sooner rather than later.
D-Tier Killers

With some stealth options and secondary objectives, The Pig does have some tools to take down a strong team. However, they just aren’t all that powerful compared to other Killers. Especially since she only has one method of direct attack.
While you don’t want to get complacent when you have a Reverse-Bear Trap on your head, they are easy to remove and pose no real threat unless The Pig can maintain constant pressure.

Despite being one of the most iconic horror movie killers, Michael Myers is sadly one of the weaker Killers in DBD. While he is certainly scary, with his ability to stalk Survivors and Expose them, it takes far too long to gain his full power.
Once he has been spotted, it can be increasingly difficult to fully power up, and as such, reducing his ability to secure a Merciless Killer rank.
And that’s our ranking of all the Killers in Dead by Daylight . Be sure to keep checking back as the updates roll in to see if there are any changes to the DBD Killer tier list. In the meantime, be sure to take a look at all the maps so you can get to grip on Dead by Daylight’s Realms.

Dead by Daylight Void Realm Returns
The Void Realm has infected the lands of the Entity, but how will this work as you play your Survivor and Killer matches?

The gist of it is, both Survivors and Killers can collect Void Energy to fuel Unstable Rifts, transforming them in Rifts to the Void Realm. Once inside the Void Realm, both Survivors and Killers are weakened.
You must find Haunts and provide them with more Void Energy to release them into the Map. Once released, Haunts grants whichever "team" has released them Haste speed boosts and other buffs, and debuffs the opposite side players for the duration of the match.
Here's a step-by-step rundown on how the Void Realm in Haunted by Daylight works:
Collect Void Energy
Both Killers and Survivors can complete activities to collect something called "Void Energy". You'll need this to fuel the four Unstable Rifts that have appeared across the map. You can collect Void Energy the following ways:

How Survivors Collect Void Energy:
- Repairing Halloween Generators
- Stunning a Killer carrying Void Energy
- Destroying a Pumpkin
- Collecting Void Orbs
How Killers Collect Void Energy:
- Hooking Survivors on Halloween Hooks
- Downing a Survivor carrying Void Energy
Enter Void Realm Rift
Deposit Void Energy as you collect it into the Unstable Rifts, and once enough Void Energy has been distributed across all four Unstable Rifts, all of them will transform in Rifts to the Void Realm.
Step inside, but be aware... Killers and Survivors especially will be weakened while inside the Void Realm:
Killers in the Void Realm:
- Gain the Undetectable effect
- Will not be able to use their Powers
Survivors in the Void Realm:
- Gain the Exhausted and Broken effect (if already injured)
While in the Void Realm, players will be unable to find any Generators, Pallets, Lockers, Chests, or Totems. However, there are still Hooks in the Void Realm, and if a Killer gets a Survivor onto a Hook, the Survivor will be transported back into the regular map... still hooked.
The Rifts to the Void Realm will close two minutes after spawning, or once all the available Haunts within have been released into the map.
Feed the Haunts
Inside the Void Realm you can find Haunts, spirits that according to lore were drained and discarded here by the Entity itself. How do you release the Haunts?
Feed Haunts twelve Void Energy in order to capture them and then release them from the Void. After completing a "Release", you will gain some bonus effects depending on whether you are Survivor or Killer:
Survivor "Haunt Release" Effects:
- Gain a boost to Haste, Endurance, and 20% faster Action Speed
- Held Item will be refilled to 50%
Killer "Haunt Release" Effects:
- Gain a boost to Haste, Undetectable, and 20% faster Action and Cooldown Speed
Use Haunts for Buffs
Once a Haunt has been released onto the map, whichever side has released it - Survivors or Killers - can use it to their advantage, but only if your "team" was the one to release it:
Survivor "Haunt" Buffs:
- Haste speed boost
Killer "Haunt" Buffs:
On the flip side, if you approach a Haunt that the enemy "team" released, you will receive the following debuffs:
Survivor "Haunt" Debuffs:
- Camera will lock onto the Haunt
- Become temporarily Hindered
Killer "Haunt" Debuffs:
Dead by Daylight Pumpkins Return
Break Pumpkins found throughout the map not only to gain Void Energy, but to gain one of the following status effects:
- Haste Status Effect
- Hindered Status Effect
