Ale and Compass Review (Dinner and Lunch at Disney’s Yacht Club)

It’s no secret that Ale and Compass at Disney’s Yacht Club is one of our favorite hidden gems at Walt Disney World. We enjoy it so much that we dine here multiple times a year.

In this review of Ale and Compass Restaurant, we’ll preview a recent lunch and several dinners past. Since we’ve dined here for each meal period, there’s a separate review of breakfast at Ale and Compass that covers most of the menu items.

Ale and Compass is located off the lobby of Disney’s Yacht Club Resort . The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily.

For lunch, the restaurant is open between 11:45 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. They then reopen from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for dinner.

We began dining at Ale and Compass many years ago when the restaurant went by another name, The Captain’s Grille. Back then, we usually stayed at the Yacht or Beach Club for vacation. Over the course of our vacation, we would eat at the restaurant several times.

So when we heard the former restaurant was closing, there might have been a few tears shed. Thankfully, the new location somehow manages to have the same charm while offering a wide array of menu items.

Let’s take a look at a few of those items.

ale & compass disney yacht club resort

Ale and Compass Review (Lunch)

Over the summer, when my sister was visiting, we went to Magic Kingdom to see the Festival of the Fantasy Parade . At that time, the parade was offered twice daily.

After the parade, we didn’t have any plans other than to park hop to Epcot. Of course, we had to wait until 2:00 p.m. because of the silly park-hopping rule Disney has been enforcing.

So I suggested we take a bus to Disney’s Yacht Club from Magic Kingdom and have lunch at Ale and Compass. Of course, we didn’t have a reservation, but I was fairly certain we could score one or at least join the walk-up list.

After checking the My Disney Experience app, I found a reservation. One of the best things about Ale and Compass is that there’s almost always availability.

But if there’s no availability, they often offer the option to join a walk-up list. If you join the walk-up, they’ll send a notification when your table is ready.

For starters, we ordered an appetizer to share, the Parker House Rolls with spreads. Three spreads come with the rolls. We have citrus butter, bacon jam, and pub cheese from left to right.

ale & compass disney yacht club resort

Our rolls were served warm, fresh out of the oven. They were sprinkled with sea salt and a touch of herbs.

ale & compass disney yacht club resort

My favorite of the spreads was the pub cheese. But the bacon jam and citrus butter were also delicious.

These rolls are an excellent way to start your meal. I wouldn’t hesitate to order them again.

Instead of ordering an entree, I decided to order another appetizer. For my main course, I had the jumbo lump crab cake, which turned out to be two crab cakes.

ale & compass disney yacht club resort

As you can see, I had more than enough food between the crab cakes and a few rolls. My order of crab cakes came with stone ground mustard cream, lemon emulsion, succotash, and greens.

ale & compass disney yacht club resort

If you enjoy crab cakes, consider ordering this dish as a meal. They are only available on the lunch menu at Ale and Compass.

My sister went with an entree, Ale and Compass’s Fish and Chips. Like my crab cakes, this dish is only available on the lunch menu.

ale & compass disney yacht club resort

She received two pieces of fish and a substantial serving of fries. A lemon caper tarter sauce comes on the side.

ale & compass disney yacht club resort

I might have to order these on my next visit. That crispy batter was finger-licking good.

By the end of our meal, we were completely full and ready to head to Epcot. Since Yacht Club is in the Epcot Resorts Area , we were able to walk from the hotel to Epcot’s International Gateway entrance.

Overall we had an excellent meal that didn’t break the budget, and we couldn’t have asked for a more convenient location.

Ale and Compass Review (Dinner)

On our last visit to Ale and Compass for dinner, I was joined by my friend Kristen from Firefly Travels. We were staying at the Waldorf Astoria and decided to grab a meal somewhere near Epcot.

Our plan was to have dinner and then walk into Epcot to see the fireworks. Unfortunately, we were both pretty worn out after our meal and never made it over to Epcot.

However, we were able to see a bit of Harmonious from our room at the Waldorf. More about that experience is available in our resort review.

Related: Waldorf Astoria Orlando Review

Anyway, when we arrived at Ale and Compass, we were both pretty hungry. Kristen had just flown in from Ohio, and I had been all over the theme parks that day updating character meets.

We were meeting and heading to Jamaica the next day to attend a travel conference. Needless to say, we were both ready for a warm meal when we got to Ale and Compass for dinner.

For starters, Kristen ordered the lobster and corn chowder.

ale & compass disney yacht club resort

This order of chowder was rich and creamy with luscious bites of lobster alongside crisp corn kernels.

I went with an appetizer, the roasted buffalo-style cauliflower. This dish comes with hearts of Romaine and herbed ranch sauce.

ale & compass disney yacht club resort

Overall, I liked the cauliflower but felt it was too spicy. Kristen tried some, and she thought it was delicious but way too hot. Perhaps, we received an over-seasoned dish?

As someone who loves spicy food, I can usually force myself to enjoy it with the heat. However, that was not the case with this dish. You might have better luck.

Next, Kristen ordered truffle fries that came with roasted shallot mayonnaise.

ale & compass disney yacht club resort

Oh my goodness! Thankfully, she was happy to share them. They were SO GOOD.

Our order of fries was perfectly cooked and seasoned with the right amount of herbs. They were the kind of fries with bits and pieces of skin left on them.

Additionally, the fries were perfectly doused with the right amount of truffle oil and dusted with parmesan cheese. Again, they were SO GOOD.

ale & compass disney yacht club resort

Aside from all of that goodness, there was a special dipping sauce. You know I don’t do mayonnaise, so I didn’t try it.

Since I initially wrote this review, I’ve found another location to order truffles fries at Disney World, the Enchanted Rose Lounge at Grand Floridian . Okay, these are probably my favorite because they’re steak fries, but you can’t go wrong with either option.

Lastly, we ordered the bacon and Vermont cheddar burger to share. Our server brought a knife and an extra plate so we could share.

ale & compass disney yacht club resort

I think our meal provides a nice example of how you can order several menu items and split things up between friends or family. Sometimes, when perusing the menu, it becomes tough to narrow it down to one thing.

So instead, get together and see what other people in your group might want. Then combine those items to make a meal.

Often, each item is more than large enough to share between multiple people, like this huge, juicy burger. Unfortunately, the picture doesn’t do the size justice.

ale & compass disney yacht club resort

Ale and Compass’s signature burger comes with caramelized onion on a Parker House bun. The burger features Applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and herb mayonnaise.

We ordered ours sans the mayo. Oh, and that’s a sweet pickle (not dill) on top.

Our burger came out a perfect medium-well and full of flavor. We both enjoyed it and felt like it was an excellent option for anyone wanting a traditional menu item.

Other than the cauliflower dish, I would order everything again in the future. However, next time, I want to try the New England Seafood Pot Pie.

I had considered ordering the pot pie this evening but was a little concerned it might be too wintery feeling, given I had been out in the heat all day. Someone next to us ordered it, and it looked amazing.

A few other dinner menu items include:

  • 10 oz New York Angus Strip
  • Pappardelle Pasta with Chicken
  • ‘Brick’ Lemon-Herb Half Chicken
  • Plant-based Protein Bowl
  • Cabernet-braised Short Ribs
  • Sustainable Catch of the Day

In addition, kids’ meals include grilled chicken, pasta, cheeseburgers, and fish.

You can preview the entire dinner menu here on Disney’s site.

As for Ale and Compass, I’m sure it won’t be long until my next visit. We eat here more than any other restaurant at Walt Disney World.

If you decide to try a meal here, I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we do.

UPDATED: Ale and Compass MENUS and Opening Date at Disney World’s Yacht Club Resort

By AJ and the DFB Team 25 Comments

The upcoming Ale & Compass Restaurant at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is opening on November 21, 2017 !

©Disney

©Disney

While the Disney World website displays November 26th as the first date you’re able to make an Advance Dining Reservation for Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner at this spot, we’ve been told that in fact November 21st will be the grand opening! This location will be the flagship offering of the new Ale & Compass dining concept for the Deluxe Resort.

Disney World website screenshot

Disney World website screenshot

The Ale & Compass Lounge will reopen from its current refurbishment and will likewise join The Market at Ale & Compass to complete the concept.

So… wanna know what you’ll be eating at this “gastropub-inspired restaurant” focused on New England comfort food 🙂 ? Let’s take a peek at those menus!!

Breakfast Menu

For starters let’s check out what’s for Breakfast , where Salted Caramel-Apple French Toast, a Cornbread Waffle and a Smoked Trout Spread make for some unique offerings.

Disney World website screenshot

The almost-complete Breakfast Cocktail menu lists a couple of  Bloody Marys, including one with a Lobster Claw for garnish. And the other features “Yacht Club Vodka.”

Disney World Menu screenshot

And here are the morning eats for the kiddos !

Disney World website screenshot

Lobster and Corn Chowder

is a potential starter for your New England comfort food Lunch …

Disney World website screenshot

Entrees  — or Main Plates — will feature a selection of savory Pies from the restaurant’s centerpiece, the Hearth Oven . And a Grilled Plant-based “Bacon Cheeseburger” is an option for our vegetarian (and possibly vegan) friends.

Disney World website screenshot

Desserts feature a Black Walnut Pavlova , among other choices. And I wonder what those mix-ins will be with the puddings! But…um…why is “curd” in quotes on that lemon meringue pie? And why would I want pickled blueberries with it? Hmm… .

Disney World website screenshot

I wonder if the refurbished Ale & Compass Lounge will feature similar Cocktails , like the Spicy Pomegranate Margarita ?

Disney World website screenshot

Kids’ options include both Mickey Check Meals (for healthier selections) and regular entrees.

Disney World website screenshot

Can I try one of the Mini Macaroon Ice Cream Sandwiches from the Kids’ Desserts, even if I’m older than 9 years old, please 🙂 ? (Note, we’re guessing this will be changed to macaron on the Disney menu, soon. It’s usually Disney’s MO to put “macaroon” on the menu and then later change it to macaron.)

Disney World website screenshot

Dinner Menu

The dinner menu expands on the Lunch Starters list with options for those Hearth Oven Pies .

Disney World website screenshot

Main Plates look to feature a signature Coastal Clambake and what looks to be another vegan item, the Protein Bowl .

Disney World website screenshot

Currently, the Dinner Cocktails, Desserts, and Childrens’ selections match the Lunch offerings .

The Ale & Compass Restaurant will accept the Disney Dining Plan . Will you be making a reservation to dine there? I know I’m looking forward to it!

Are you excited about the new Ale & Compass Restaurant? Please let us know with a comment!

I was so excited to read this, and then SO disappointed. I was born and raised in New England, and this menu doesn’t represent us at all. Some of the items sound just plain gross! I know I won’t be eating there unless and until they completely rework the menu. Yuck!

' src=

October 20, 2017 at 7:38 am

At least it has two interesting vegetarian options.

White Clam pie seems to be a nod to Pepe’s here in New Haven.

' src=

October 20, 2017 at 8:30 am

Any idea if the Grilled Plant-based “Bacon Cheeseburger” will be the Beyond Meat burger? (*crosses fingers*)

' src=

October 20, 2017 at 11:08 am

What exactly is “clam pie”? Like a pizza but with clams? and its it 1 or 2 credits on the dining plan?

' src=

October 20, 2017 at 11:28 am

Jen, based on the description of the Clam Pie and the other pies listed, our best guess is a kind of pizza with clams on it. We’ll see what we can find out for sure when the restaurant opens! As for the DDP, the Disney World webpage for Ale & Compass Restaurant shows one credit for all meals except 2018 breakfast. We think this is possibly an error but we’ll look into it.

' src=

October 20, 2017 at 11:52 am

We loved Captains Grille and have been waiting {no so patiently} for Ale and Compass to open. It won’t be open for our Early November Trip, which was disappointing – until I saw the menu. I can’t say we won’t try it for our other trips but … the menu does not appeal to us.

They used to have a short rib with risotto and creamed corn – was fabulous – it’s not on this menu. And the items really aren’t too exciting, for our tastes. The appetizers also would not draw us in.

October 20, 2017 at 12:12 pm

Hopefully it’s only one credit, that would be a pretty good value if it’s true! Might be interested in trying it even if it does turn out to be 2. Problem is by the time we’re ready to book another trip our daughter will be over 10, so we’ll be stuck paying adult price for both her and her brother.

' src=

October 20, 2017 at 1:31 pm

Where will this be in the resort? Is it taking over the Captain’s Grille? Will it be next to the Market? Some of the food sounds good, but what’s with the chorizo?

' src=

October 20, 2017 at 1:51 pm

what? No more dark chocolate waffles???

' src=

October 20, 2017 at 2:00 pm

What an interesting menu! And not too pricey for us to pay out of pocket either. If their pies are pizza-like, then clam pie is definitely a New England thing. Chorizo may simply reflect a more mixed population (including Portuguese, Mexican, etc.) and a preference for spicy over bland sausages. As someone who has vacationed in New England for many years, I can attest that not everything is about lobster or even fish. We might have to try this in December.

' src=

October 20, 2017 at 5:56 pm

They got rid of the breakfast buffet? That’s disappointing – Captain’s Grille had one of the best breakfast buffets on property IMO. It looks pretty good and I’ll probably try it, but I’m definitely sad that they got rid of the buffet.

' src=

October 20, 2017 at 9:56 pm

So disappointed to learn that the Captain’s Grill breakfast buffet is gone! It was of our favorite breakfast spots. Don’t think my family will be trying this one.

October 21, 2017 at 6:26 pm

Cindy, Ale & Compass Restaurant is taking over the Captain’s Grille space, which is currently being renovated. As for the chorizo, your guess is as good as ours!

' src=

October 22, 2017 at 7:09 pm

Thanks! I wouldn’t have guessed from the name it would have been so veg friendly.

If you go after it opens, I’d love to hear more about what type of plant-based burger they’re offering. Also whether you can get it at dinner or only lunch.

I agree with the other woman from New England that it’s a bit of a strange menu. Lobster is bisque, clam is chowder, and corn chowder is something separate entirely!

' src=

October 24, 2017 at 8:38 pm

I booked an Adanced Dining Reservation for Captain’s Grille before the change to Ale & Compass was announced. Does anyone know if my reservation will automatically be transferred to Ale & Compass or do I need to book a new reservation?

October 25, 2017 at 9:14 am

DeeDisney, we haven’t heard whether or not the Captain’s Grille ADR will transfer. Best bet is to call Disney directly so they can either confirm that it’s transferred or help you make a new one for Ale & Compass. Have a great trip!

' src=

October 28, 2017 at 8:55 pm

I don’t know if the Disney reservation system has some kinks to work out for Ale & Compass, I can not touch a reservation for any time in Dec / any size party…. I’ve called Disney about it and they just say it is a popular time, but it is strange there is no availability whatsoever even at odd times.

October 31, 2017 at 1:14 pm

Mary, we haven’t heard about any kinks, and all we can say is to keep trying — online and by phone. Perhaps some reservations will open during your trip!

October 31, 2017 at 3:29 pm

If you’re having issues with obtaining reservations, my guess is that it may be due to transferring the Captain Grille’s reservations over to Ale & Compass which customer service reps on the phone said that they imagine would be done. After posting my comment on 10/25, I didn’t want to take any chances as the reps seemed unsure of the plans so I immediately booked my reservation at Ale & Compass and canceled my Captain Grille’s reservation to be safe.

' src=

November 5, 2017 at 4:58 pm

Also very disappointed that the breakfast buffet at Captain’s Grille is gone! We go to Disney often and usually stay at Yacht or Beach Club and have the breakfast buffet. Had I known about the change, I probably would not have selected the Deluxe Dining Plan for our mid-November trip. Impossible to book at Cape May, and Ale & Compass selections don’t sound too appealing.

November 14, 2017 at 5:44 pm

Good news! I got reservations there today it seems like a bunch of times opened up, if anyone else is having trouble… check back. Also the candlelight dining package is available and if you don’t see availability try searching on the candlelight dining page and specifically ale & compass.

November 15, 2017 at 10:58 am

Thanks for the info, Mary!

' src=

November 15, 2017 at 6:42 pm

Just booked a dinner there for Sunday, Dec 17. We will be staying at BCV, so this is just a short stroll. Can’t wait to try a new Disney restaurant!

' src=

February 22, 2018 at 10:34 pm

Burgers are on the lunch menu but not listed as a dinner offering. If somebody wanted a burger for dinner will A&C accommodate that request? I’ve heard their burgers are pretty good. Will be there in May and thinking this would make for a good arrival day dinner place. Thanks!

February 23, 2018 at 9:51 am

Darren, you could always ask for the lunch menu burger. We have heard of lots of times when chefs were able to accommodate a request of that type. That said, it’s not a guarantee. You could also try calling the restaurant directly to ask ahead of time.

Ale & Compass Restaurant Review

ale & compass disney yacht club resort

Ale & Compass Restaurant in Yacht Club Resort is a mid-range table service dining option at Walt Disney World. It’s decidedly unremarkable, so boring you’ll be asking “where did we eat lunch?” by dinner time. About the only thing you could say it’s the best at is being the dullest table service restaurant at Walt Disney World.

Now, you might think that’s overly harsh. After all, there are a lot of bad restaurants at Walt Disney World. From Restaurantosaurus to Planet Hollywood Observatory, there are some options that leave a lot to be desired. However, none of those are flat-out boring like Ale & Compass. Those other restaurants might try and fail, but at least they try.

By contrast, it seems that Ale & Compass just tries to be as bland and unoffensive as possible. The decor is best described as a generic modern, with aspirations of being upscale. (It’s not.) If you were to show me photos of the interior and say it’s from the lobby lounge at the Kansas City Airport Courtyard by Marriott, I wouldn’t question that. It’s actually a bit shocking that so much time was spent on the refurbishment and this is the end result.

I know part of Yacht Club’s recent refurbishment was to make it more appealing to conventioneers. What this design tells me is that Disney views conventioneers as about the most vanilla people on the face of the earth, unable to appreciate anything with any semblance of character.

ale & compass disney yacht club resort

I don’t know–perhaps Disney performed a deep dive into analytics and determined that people spend more expense account money on booze if the the color scheme is dull grey and deep blue.

That really gets the liquor flowing, because you need more drinks to add a sense of excitement to the dull environment? (If that’s Disney’s logic…well played.)

ale & compass disney yacht club resort

The one interesting-ish addition to Ale & Compass Restaurant is the counter seating that looks into the open kitchen. The problem with this, at least during our visit, was that not much was happening in this open kitchen. It’s not the entire kitchen, just where minor, late-stage prep occurs and things are fired in the hearth oven. Kudos, Ale & Compass, you’ve even managed to make an open kitchen boring.

Now, I know there will be detractors who say that they like this style or appreciate something that isn’t garish and over-the-top “Disney.” If you like the style, I can’t argue with that. I’m sure this does appeal to some people and I definitely wouldn’t mind it in a $100/night real world hotel, but not at Walt Disney World.

ale & compass disney yacht club resort

With regard to the latter criticism, my response would be that there is middle ground between airport hotel lounge and Chef Mickey’s. Restaurants like Artist Point and Boatwright’s Dining Hall, two of many examples, manage to do understated decor that is thematically on-point but not over-the-top.

In fact, some of Imagineering’s thematic coups are when they manage to convey a different time and place without a heavy-handed approach.

As for the food, what we tried was definitely better than the theme, but it was still a mixed bag…

ale & compass disney yacht club resort

We started with the Oven-roasted Oysters with spinach and creamed Kale, white cheddar, and cornbread crumbs.

Think of these as oysters for people who don’t like oysters. The other flavors really dominated the dish, to the point where only the lingering salinity at the end of each bite. The crumbing had a good flavor, but there was too much of it.

ale & compass disney yacht club resort

One of our friends ordered the Lobster and Corn Chowder.

I was a bit taken aback by the price here, but I tried it and this chowder was actually quite good. It wasn’t too thick and heavy, and there were generous clumps of lobster. It was an interesting twist on chowder, and something I’d consider ordering on a cold day.

ale & compass disney yacht club resort

Here’s the Mushroom, Caramelized Onion, and Gruyère Cheeseburger, served on a parker house bun served with fries.

This was a satisfactory burger, but does not hold a candle to the cheaper Angus Chuck Burger with Truffle Fries that used to be served at Crew’s Cup Lounge (and could be ordered here, off menu). Nevertheless, if we reviewed things relative to extinct counterparts, we’d never step foot in Epcot again. This burger was good, but I wouldn’t get it again.

ale & compass disney yacht club resort

Here are the Fish & Chips.

I also found these to be satisfactory but, again, not something I’d go out of my way to order again. They’re not even enough of an upgrade over Yorkshire County Fish Shop to justify leaving Epcot.

ale & compass disney yacht club resort

Sarah ordered the Open-faced Skirt Steak Sandwich with caramelized onions, poached egg, fennel, watercress, and tomato salad with truffle vinaigrette.

She hit the jackpot. I was apprehensive that the poached egg was here to mask subpar steak, but that was not the case at all. The meat was tender and perfectly-prepared, and the sandwich came together incredibly well with a robust mix of savory and fresh flavors. This is one of, if not the, best sandwiches I’ve tried at Walt Disney World. It was the saving grace of our whole dining experience at Ale & Compass.

We’ve heard from others who have tried items from the dinner menu and raved about their meals. Given our experience with the Skirt Steak Sandwich, I am curious about items like the Pan-seared Trout, Broccoli Rabe, Cornbread Cake and even the Fried Chicken and Waffles.

Unfortunately, to try those items, we’d have to visit Ale & Compass Restaurant again, and the insipid interior makes that unlikely. We can dine at a boring restaurant with mediocre-to-good food anywhere, at Walt Disney World, we expect more in terms of atmosphere and theme.

Birthday Dinner with six adults and 2 under 9 children, reservations for 6:30pm. was not seated until after 7pm, placed complete order for food, drinks and appetizers all at once. The drinks were served with the four appetizers, so far so good, then came the Hour wait for dinner. When dinner was served after 8PM, the three rare steaks were no longer rare and there was gristle in them, for over 30 dollars that was very disappointing. The burger came with a stale (rock hard from being left under the warmer lights far too long) and the size of a child’s burger. The children’s chicken was so bland they did not want it after the long wait. The seafood pot pie was dry again from being under the warming lights for an extended period of time. The waitress promised pickles for the youngest child which never came. Now we waited for over an hour for the food that was subpar for the price. The bill was nearly $400 and this waitress that left our food under the warmer lights far too long, still got her gratuity of $57 because it was included in the bill. All in all, a very over priced for poor quality food and experience. What a way to start a vacation! Totally disappointed with Disney Resorts and I Love Disney and am an Annual Passholder but would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone.

' src=

My Wife and Myself were able to get a last-minute reservation to this restaurant using the Disney Genie app, this restaurant usually has openings for dinner when using the app which, should have been the indicator that this restaurant wasn’t at all that great. Maybe it was an off night for the restaurant but for the money this is definitely not a place that I would go to ever again, The service was great and I have absolutely no complaints about the staff, the food here is not good and if you can make reservations elsewhere do so.

' src=

This is the worst restaraunt I have ever been to. I am a passholder and have been coming down here for 50 years. I cannot answer for all the comments i read, but this place sucks. Bottom of the barrel.

' src=

This was our favorite restaurant during our latest visit. Everything was well prepared and tasted great. My desert almost made me cry it was so good. Perhaps it is time to give Ale and Compass another shot?

' src=

For anyone staying at either the Yacht Club or Beach Club villas over the next few months, Ale & Compass will be your port in the storm. Book it, and book it often (for both breakfast and dinner) because that’s just about it on property right now for table service after you’ve had your fill of burgers and ice cream. Both Ale & Compass and Grand Floridian Cafe are MVP’s right now for their respective hotels, just as they should be.

' src=

We ate here twice on our trip last week. Agree atmosphere is not exciting, but we found the food to be consistently well done and in particular (and the reason we returned!) was the kids menu had so many more healthy options than most places! We have been to WDW 3x with our kids, and it’s so frustrating that places either offer no veggies or something really basic (corn on the cob, etc). Even the more upscale places often have the same old, basically nutritionless kids main meal options and few sides. At Ale and Compass, the kids’ menu included delicious fresh grilled fish and sides such as roasted sweet potato, quinoa and broccolini. We really appreciated this and wish more restaurants offered fish, veggies and similarly healthy menu items.

' src=

My daughter and I booked the Ale and Compass for the Candlelight Processional this past Holiday season, and found it to be excellent in comparison to most of the restaurants in the resort hotels. The service was excellent as well, just hoping they are open in late September when we are booked at the Boardwalk Villas. And I agree with Marcy, it was nice to see something other than French Fries and Broccoli for my granddaughter who is accustomed to eating healthy foods.

' src=

A group of 6 adults dined at the Ale & Compass Restaurant on 12/10/18 for the Candlelight Processional Dining Package, and we were generally disappointed. The ambience was pleasant enough to enjoy a meal, but we were seated at a round table stuck in a corner where the table servers found it impossible to serve the 3 people seated in the corner. Half of our party felt like we were the servers. Most of our meals as a whole was acceptable, and the recommended short ribs were delicious. However, the strip steak, the highest priced entrée on the menu, was way less than acceptable. I’ve had better strip steak at Texas Roadhouse for 1/3 the price. Along with the steak, the service will make all of us think hard about a return visit. Our main server made very infrequent visits to refresh our drinks, never once visited our table to check on our meal or to ask us if we needed anything. We finally had to flag him down to take our desert order because it was getting time to leave for the show. Our dining plans were for 2 hours, and it was just short of 2 hours when we ordered desert. Maybe our particular server was just having a bad night, but it would have been hard to leave an 18% tip. However, that couldn’t happen because the menu clearly states that an 18% tip will be added to the bill for all parties of 6 or more. This was the final slap on a less than enjoyable dining experience. I’d say move on because there are many other Disney restaurants with better steak and more attentive service.
