Two sons of world’s richest man Bernard Arnault join him on board of LVMH
Pair also join two other siblings on board, further strengthening family’s control of French luxury goods company
Two sons of the world’s richest man, Bernard Arnault, have joined the board of LVMH after a shareholder vote, further cementing the family’s control of the French luxury goods company.
The pair joined their elder siblings on the board of directors of the company, which houses brands such as Dior and Louis Vuitton , meaning four of Bernard Arnault’s five children now sit on the board.
Alexandre, 31, is the executive vice-president of Tiffany, while Frédéric, 29, is the CEO of Swiss luxury watchmaker Tag Heuer.
The Forbes magazine currently lists Bernard Arnault, and his family, as the world’s richest person, with a fortune of $214bn (£172bn), ahead of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk, who heads Tesla and X.
Each son got a vote of more than 93% at the shareholder meeting, with the results coming as no surprise.
The Arnault family group holds 48.6% of LVMH’s capital and 64.3% of the votes, a fact Arnault acknowledged shortly ahead of the proceedings.
“I’ve got the majority of votes, so …” he said.
Two other children from a previous marriage, Delphine , 49, and Antoine, 46, are already board members, but the youngest sibling, Jean, 26, still has to wait his turn.
“He has time, he’s young,” said the 75-year-old founder.

LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton) also nominated Wei Sun Christianson to succeed Antonio Belloni, the group’s number two, who announced his departure at the end of March.
Christianson, who joins from American investment bank Morgan Stanley, is “a great expert on business in China”, said Arnault, stressing the value of the country’s market.
“The group has a strong presence in China, so it’s important to have precise views on what’s happening,” he added.

Luxury With a Conscience
By Sonia Kolesnikov-Jessop
- Sept. 22, 2009
SINGAPORE — Since Lehman Brothers sank a year ago, marinas have been awash in mothballed luxury yachts waiting for the financial tides to turn, while canceled orders have left many boat builders struggling.
Now, at suitably trimmed prices and amid signs of renewed buoyancy in capital markets, “there’s an optimistic feel about evolution in the short term, at least on the pre-owned brokerage market as well as on the charter market,” says Laurent Perignon, director of marketing at the high-end yacht broker Camper & Nicholsons International. Still, Mr. Perignon said, “we remain cautious” about the timing of a market recovery.
Yet, if plain vanilla luxury boat builders have felt buffeted, the mood at the top end of the market is very different — as reflected in the unveiling by leading luxury brands of two new yachts at the start of the Monaco Yacht Show this week.
“WHY 58x38” is the first offspring of Wally Hermès Yachts, a joint venture announced last year between the Paris fashion house Hermès and the Monaco yacht designer and builder Wally.
“Aeon” is the concept offering this year from Feadship, the luxury yacht brand of the Dutch boatyard Royal van Lent, acquired a year ago by LVMH.
The Wally Hermès boat mimics the wide-stern triangular geometry of modern seismographic research vessels. With a beam of 38 meters, or 125 feet, for her length of 58 meters, the yacht is designed to be a luxury floating villa, “safer and more stable than a typical yacht,” said Luca Bassani Antivari, president and chief executive of Wally.
The hull form requires less power at cruising speed than a conventional boat of equal size and a diesel-electric propulsion system provides eco-friendly power, backed up by the incorporation of nearly 900 square meters, or 9,680 square feet, of photo voltaic panels that in sunny weather can drive most of the boats’ auxiliary systems.
Aeon’s designers also aim to please super-yacht owners with a green conscience. The 75.6-meter yacht has a hull inspired by the hydro-dynamics of a whale shark’s body. Again, large areas are covered in solar paneling, one of the many green power sources for the yacht.
The propulsion system is entirely electric, powered by generators running on synthetic fuel that can be produced from natural gas, biomass or algae. The engine room houses equipment to convert bio-diesel into hydrogen, fuel cells to convert the hydrogen into electricity, and batteries for power storage. Carbon dioxide, water and heat from the conversion process are recycled: an algae bio-reactor captures the CO2 and a steam turbine converts waste heat to electricity.
Not withstanding the current state of the market, Antonio Belloni, the group managing director of LVMH, says he is optimistic about the long term, sustainable growth potential of the super-yacht sector.
“The strongest brands, the brands that have the products and financial backing, will certainly emerge stronger from a phase where the market is more demanding than it had been in exuberant years,” Mr. Belloni said.
At Feadship, “there has been absolutely no cancellation of any order,” he said. The yard introduced several yachts in the past year, and it is working on more than 20 projects, representing a full order book to 2013. “So frankly, we’re very confident about the future.”
“We think that the fundamental factors that generated growth in excess of double digits for the last 10 years for the large yachts will continue to be there,” Mr. Belloni added. “I’m less sure if it’s going to continue being double digit, but I think there is still ample room for the market to grow.”

LVMH’s Belloni signs off after 23 years as second-in-command, amidst the luxury group’s reshuffle and longstanding succession suspense
LVMH’s Antonio Belloni is stepping down as the group’s second-in-command amid a sustained management shakeup at the biggest luxury conglomerate.
Stephane Bianchi, 59, the current head of LVMH’s watches and jewelry unit, will succeed him, LVMH said in a statement Thursday. Bianchi joined LVMH in 2018 to lead Tag Heuer and the watchmaking unit. He spent a large part of his early professional years at the cosmetics group Yves Rocher, where he became chief executive officer at the age of 33.
Belloni, known as Toni, will give up his roles as group managing director and chairman of the executive committee at LVMH, which is headed by billionaire Bernard Arnault. He will also leave the board after LVMH’s annual general meeting on April 18.
The 69-year-old Italian executive joined the company that owns Louis Vuitton in 2001. He has overseen strategy and operations of the conglomerate’s labels and supervised regional presidents, among other duties. He joined LVMH from the consumer group Procter & Gamble Co., where he held various roles in countries including the US, Greece and Switzerland.
Arnault has been preparing the next generation of LVMH leaders as some of the group’s most senior executives near the end of their careers. Arnault’s top lieutenants have also played a role in training his five children, who all work at the company.
His eldest, Delphine, 48, runs Christian Dior Couture, Antoine, 46, heads image and communications for LVMH and is non-executive chairman of Loro Piana. Alexandre, 31, is the number 2 at Tiffany & Co, overseeing products and communication, while Frederic, 29, runs the watch division. The youngest, Jean, 25, is in charge of developing Louis Vuitton’s watch category.
Arnault turned 75 this month and the LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE statutes allow him to stay as chief executive officer until he’s 80.
Recently, Arnault also named Michael Burke, 67, to head the LVMH fashion group, which includes labels such as Celine and Loewe. Burke, a loyal lieutenant, took over from Sidney Toledano, 72. The group earlier this month named Pierre-Emmanuel Angeloglou as deputy to Burke, supervising labels such as Fendi, Marc Jacobs and Kenzo, confirming a Bloomberg News report.
Toledano is now an adviser to Arnault, while Belloni will be put in charge of strategic missions for the CEO and will be appointed president of LVMH Italy.

LVMH appoints Antonio Belloni as managing director
LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA, the world’s biggest luxury goods group, said on Wednesday it had appointed former Procter & Gamble Co executive Antonio Belloni as its new managing director, Reuters reports.
Belloni, 47, replaces Myron Ullman, who will focus on the United States by becoming chief executive of U.S. arm LVMH Inc, the Paris-based company said.
Ullman’s move reflects “his desire, for health reasons, to reduce the significant amount of global travel his position has required,” LVMH said in a statement.
Belloni joined LVMH in June 2001 after a 22-year career at consumer goods company Procter & Gamble that included stints in Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, and the United States.
Ullman, who became LVMH managing director in 1999 after being responsible for the group’s selective retail and DFS duty free businesses, will remain a member of LVMH’s board of directors, Reuters reported.
He will also become vice chairman of the board of directors of LVMH’s holding company, Christian Dior SA, and will continue to serve as chairman of the board of De Beers LV, the recently formed diamond retailing joint venture between LVMH and South Africa’s De Beers, Reuters reported.

Succession drama at LVMH is a dangerous moment for France
I f the producers at HBO are trying to work out which company could be the model for a follow-up to the hit drama Succession it is not hard to figure out the most obvious candidate.
Last week, Antonio Belloni stepped down as deputy to Bernard Arnault, the billionaire chief executive of France’s luxury goods powerhouse LVMH . That comes against a backdrop of manoeuvring for the succession, with five of Arnault’s children now in senior positions.
But while we can all look forward to the Canal Plus dramatised version, this is a foolish way to run what is now Europe’s largest company – and the battle for the Arnault’s succession will be a moment of high danger for the wider Continental economy.
It is certainly a gripping drama. The leadership of LVMH makes the internal machinations of the Roy family look amicable by comparison. The latest twist came with the resignation of Belloni as group managing director. Since joining the conglomerate in 2001, the Italian-born executive has been the effective number two to Arnault, keeping the day-to-day operations of the sprawling luxury goods conglomerate running smoothly.
He rarely grabbed headlines. But most great entrepreneurs have a deputy they rely on to keep everything ship-shape, and investors will be worried that he will turn out to be more important to its success than his low-profile would suggest.
Belloni’s departure comes as Arnault has been placing his children in key positions within the group. His eldest daughter, Delphine, 48, runs Christian Dior Couture; Antoine, 46, has control of image and communications for LVMH; Alexandre, 31, is the number two at Tiffany & Co, overseeing products and communication; Frederic, 29, runs the watch division; and Jean, 25, is in charge of developing Louis Vuitton’s watch category.
We hope that they all get along well, and can amicably agree on who should take charge of which unit when their 75-year-old father finally decides to step back from day-to-day management of the empire. But you wouldn’t want to bet your last bottle of Moet on it. After all, you hardly need to know much Shakespeare to worry that when you have five siblings all competing for vast power and wealth there is potential for disagreements over who gets what.
This is a terrible way to run a company. LVMH is not some minor fashion business anymore. Fuelled by the extraordinary demand in China, and elsewhere, for luxury status symbols, it has assembled dozens of heritage brands to create a world-beating conglomerate.
With a market value of €425bn (£365bn) it is Europe’s largest company by a wide margin. The Dutch semiconductor giant ASML is €100bn behind it in market value, and none of Britain’s giants comes anywhere close to its size or strength.
The shares hit an all-time peak earlier this year, taking it through the €400bn barrier for the first time, and there is already plenty of speculation that it could easily become the first European company to hit the $1 trillion (£790bn) milestone, joining the likes of Apple and Microsoft among the world’s elite corporations.
The French stock market depends on it. It accounts for 15pc of the Paris CAC-40 index’s total value, and dealing in LVMH shares accounts for 40pc of trading on the Paris market. In many ways, France had turned into an upmarket handbag and perfume manufacturer with a slightly shabby country attached. What happens to LVMH matters to the health of the French markets and economy, and by extension to the whole of Europe, including the UK, as well.
No one would deny that Arnault is a brilliant businessman , with an uncanny ability to spot the right deal, and to add value to a brand once he has secured control of it. The performance of the conglomerate over many decades is proof of that. The shares are up by 165pc over the past five years, and more than 30-fold since 1990.
It has been a spectacular run, and one that has made Arnault one of the richest men in the world. And yet his control of the empire is opaque, with 48pc of the equity, and 68pc of the voting rights.
The world’s other major conglomerates are steadily normalising their management even if they have entrepreneurial roots. There are no offspring of Steve Jobs at Apple, or Bill Gates Jnr at Microsoft, or a younger Bezos or two at Amazon. Investors can feel confident that as the influence of the founders fades, professional managers, chosen solely on ability, will steadily take over control on behalf of the shareholders.
Arnault appears to be going in the opposite direction, with the senior executives who have been with him on the journey steadily leaving, while he places his children in key roles, waiting to see which of them has the steel and ambition to take over when he finally steps aside.
Many entrepreneurs have placed one or two children in senior positions – the fractious Murdoch clan is the most obvious example – and left them to battle for control. Five of them fighting it out is something new. It is hard to believe it will end well.
There is too much at stake for anything to be allowed to go wrong. Regulators in Brussels and Paris spend all their time fretting about AI, or trying to break up Apple, or whatever the latest fashionable crusade might be. In reality, they have a potential problem far closer to home.
Arnault seems to be turning LVMH into a family fiefdom. The luxury goods business is already risky enough, with demand in China slowing down, as the collapse in the shares of the Gucci owner Kering showed last week.
In reality, this is a moment of high danger for the French stock market, and even the wider European economy – because if Arnault gets this wrong it is far more than just one family fortune that will come crashing down.

Estelle Létang has over 21 years of experience with the American beauty giant Estée Lauder Companies. Her career started at Darphin and included roles in New York, Paris, and Hong Kong, where she became the Vice President/General Manager for Asia Pacific of La Mer and Jo Malone.
All’anno, intendo.

Azimut Seadeck 6 was "moored by the moon" in the swimming pool of the Bagni Misteriosi during Milano ... [+] Design Week 2024
Milan may have been overflowing with crisp design, stylish designers, and creative installations during Milano Design Week recently. But I’m pretty sure no other installation got more attention, or was harder to pull off than what Azimut Yachts achieved when they moored a 57-foot-long Azimut Seadeck 6 in the swimming pool of the Bagni Misteriosi .
The immersive installation was curated by AMDL CIRCLE and Michele De Lucchi that began as journey within the Bagni Misteriosi del Teatro Franco Parenti and culminated on the Azimut yacht moored in the shadow of a large moon. The goal was to invite visitors to rediscover the gentle relationship between man and nature as well as to testify to the fact that that a more sustainable future is now at Azimut.
Part of the Azimut installation at 2024 Milan Design Week
“The purpose of this installation was to involve visitors in the theater of life and arouse their imagination,” says Michele De Lucchi, Founder of AMDL CIRCLE. “It is only with our imagination that we can see a brighter future on the horizon, much more harmonious than today's present.”
Once through the historic entrance of the Palazzina dei Bagni Misteriosi, visitors were welcomed by a suspended atmosphere, in which the elements of the rooms dialogue with the installations to evoke the wonder of the natural world.

Images, sounds and scents evoked a dreamlike sea that was discovered through the labyrinth of doors of the old changing rooms at the beginning. Large sculptures, shells made with the innovative materials introduced by Azimut – discarded and regenerated fishing nets, recycled plastic (PET) and carbon – stand out like theatrical wings in the second room while, continuing the game of theatrical make-believe, the visitor climbed aboard the Seadeck 6 in a space where furnishings and materials are used to recreate the internal environment of the vessel, designed by Matteo Thun & Antonio Rodriguez.
Azimut installation at Milano Design Week 2024
The route culminated outside, offering a view from a terrace suspended over the water of a landscape in which Seadeck 6 is moored, the embodiment of the route traced by Azimut to reduce CO2 emissions and energy consumption.
In fact, according to Azimut, the yacht offers a reduction in emissions of up to 40% in an average year of use. Mirrored shingles in shiny galvanized steel form a large disk inspired by the moon, whose play of reflections emphasizes the dynamic effect of the pattern of light, evoking the lunar glow.
“The difference can and must be made here and now,” explained Giovanna Vitelli , Chair of Azimut|Benetti Group. “Not with distant promises of a world to come or with a superficial approach to the topic of environmental sustainability. The boat in the swimming pool of the Bagni Misteriosi is the emblem of our commitment: concrete, measurable and always present."
And maybe best of all. It was cool. Because let’s face it, change for the better is much easier to pull off when the alternative is cooler than what’s gone before.
Stay tuned.

Italian Watchdog Fines LVMH Exec Over Bulgari Deal
MILAN, Italy — Italy's market watchdog has fined LVMH managing director Antonio Belloni €350,000 ($388,185.00) for divulging confidential information to a fund manager before the luxury group's 2011 acquisition of jeweller Bulgari.
Belloni informed Alessandro Sonvico, an asset manager at Swiss-based wealth manager Pentagram, of an upcoming LVMH offer for Bulgari shares, Consob said in a statement on Wednesday. Consob also said it had fined Sonvico €350,000.
Belloni denies the charges against him and LVMH said he would appeal the Consob decision.
"Mr. Belloni notes the administrative decision by Consob which he has decided to appeal, challenging all aspects of the charges against him," Belloni's lawyers said.

No-one at Pentagram was immediately available to comment. Sonvico did not immediately respond to a Reuters request to comment via Linkedin.
Consob also said Belloni was barred from holding any management role in a listed company for eight months.
LVMH said that according to its French and Italian lawyers, none of the positions held by Belloni would be affected by the Consob decision.
"LVMH, which has been fully informed by Antonio Belloni throughout, maintains full confidence in its group managing director whose loyalty and integrity have been constant features since he first joined the Group in 2001," the group said in a statement.

Sights of Elektrostal, Moscow region
Table of contents:, history of the city, park of culture and leisure, historical and art museum, october cultural center, kristall ice palace, memorial complex, museum and exhibition complex.

In the Moscow region there is a small cozy town Elektrostal. Its sights for the most part have no historical value due to the fact that the city has a relatively small history. But for a visiting tourist or city dweller, they will be of interest. There is something to see, where to go to have an exciting leisure time.
Today the population of the city is 158 thousand people. Until the beginning of the 20th century there were several small workers' settlements here. After the opening of the electrometallurgical and equipment factories, the place began to be called the natural boundary of Calm. The construction of the railway made this settlement accessible, and workers and families flocked here to earn money. In 1925, the station was named Elektrostal, and the rapid increase in population allowed the village to receive the status of a city.
The founder of the city is a prominent Russian industrialist Nikolai Vtorov. It was he who opened the plant here, creating, in fact, a city-forming enterprise that is still operating. In Soviet times, it was a closed facility, and it was not easy to get to work here.
Today Elektrostal is a promising industrial city with a great future and a heroic past. It bears the proud name "City of Military and Labor Glory".
You can learn about the sights of Elektrostal with descriptions and photos here. There are places for walking, outdoor activities and cultural development.
Those who come to the city by train are met by a monument to the metallurgist. It was installed in November 2017 for the 100th anniversary of the Elektrostal plant. The attraction is made in the style of constructivism. The monument quickly won the love of the townspeople, because this city is supported by ordinary workers.
Elektrost altsy and the founding father of the plant, Nikolai Vtorov, are honored. In 2002, a monument was opened in honor of him, which became a landmark of the city of Elektrostal. The bronze sculpture is installed on the site where once stood a monument to the leader of the world proletariat, V. I. Lenin. Times change, characters change. Today, the plant, founded a century ago, is the largest in Russia. Vtorov himself, whose fortune was estimated at 60 million rubles in gold, according to Forbes magazine, was the owner of the largest capital at the beginning of the century. He was a banker, an industrialist, an entrepreneur, a man of action.
The monument was erected byinitiative of the townspeople who wished to perpetuate the monument to the great man.
One of the popular places for spending weekends and evenings among citizens and guests of the city is the Park of Culture and Leisure. Here you can ride attractions for children and adults, play slot machines, rollerblade or bike. The park is divided into two zones. Fans of unhurried walks in the fresh air make a promenade on the Quiet Alley, and those who prefer outdoor activities flock to the Entertainment Alley. The park has a summer stage, where concerts and cafes are regularly held.
Until 1999, there was no central museum among the attractions of Elektrostal in the Moscow Region. The expositions were exhibited in schools, the house of culture, in factory museums. The city was closed, so there was no large influx of tourists and visitors. The appearance of the historical and art museum made it possible for residents and guests of the city to learn a lot of useful information about their native land, the formation of the production process, and the difficult years of the war. The exposition consists of paintings by local artists, historical artifacts, household items, documents, books and much more. The collection is updated regularly. It also hosts outdoor exhibitions, which are always popular with the townspeople.
One of the main attractions of Elektrostal, the photo of which is available to almost every resident or visitor, is the Main Alley. On herpassers-by like to stroll along shady paths, townspeople rest by the fountain after a hard shift at the plant. Flower beds are the decoration of the alley. In 2006, a flower festival was held here for the first time, which has become traditional. Each enterprise of the city and private individuals give residents a real composition of fresh flowers, which pleases with bright colors all summer long. A riot of colors, aromas and a flight of fantasy reigns here. Walking through the park, you can see Snow White with a basket, a bright well, a multi-tiered cake made from fresh flowers, hearts of lovers or a fabulous house. It is almost impossible not to take a photo against the background of these compositions.
There is a cultural center in the city. It hosts performances by local creative teams and visiting stars, performances and circus performances.
In 1971, the ice palace "Crystal" was opened in the city. Almost immediately, a children's and youth hockey team was organized, which gained sports fame. This is the home sports arena for the Elektrostal hockey team. Matches of different levels are held on the ice.
There are sections for children who go in for hockey or figure skating. Citizens come here with their families to cheer for their favorite team or go ice skating.
Elektrostal is a city with a heroic past. During the war years, more than 12 thousand citizens came to the recruiting station and went to the front to defend their homeland. Almost 4 thousand of them did not return from the battle. To these heroesdedicated to the memorial complex with the inextinguishable Eternal Flame, opened in 1968
But the electricians took part in the war in Afghanistan and Chechnya. By decision of the city authorities, their memory is also immortalized in the memorial complex.
It has become a good tradition for newlyweds to lay flowers at this monument.
In 1999, a museum and exhibition complex was opened in the city, where, in addition to the exhibition hall, there are numerous circles for children, classes for young people, and a creative workshop. Various festivals, exhibitions, city holidays and other events are held within the walls and on the territory of the complex, which attract many spectators.
Listing the sights of Elektrostal, it is impossible not to mention the temples. There are several of them in the city: the church of St. John of Kronstadt, St. Andrew's Church, the hospital church of St. Panteleimon. Another new church is being built. In appearance, the temples look ancient, monumental, in the Novgorod style. But they were all built at the end of the 20th century.
Let there be no ancient artifacts among the sights of Elektrostal. But on the other hand, all of them are connected with the history of the city, with everyday work and military exploits of ordinary residents.

The art of command
The Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master II in Oystersteel with an Oyster bracelet and a bidirectional rotatable bezel with a blue Cerachrom insert .
Ring command bezel, a synchronized countdown.
Rolex achieved perfection when it turned its attention to redefining the purpose and functionality of the bezel. Typically, a bezel operates independently from the internal mechanism; however, the Ring Command bezel in the Yacht-Master II regatta chronograph operates in conjunction with it.
As a mechanical component linked to the movement, the bezel literally acts as the key to the programmable countdown, allowing it to be set and synchronised to the sequence of race start times. Complex in design, but simple in use, it is functionally beautiful.
A characteristic aesthetic
The Yacht-Master II is equipped with a new dial, and new hands that are characteristic of Rolex Professional models, enhancing legibility and sharpening its aesthetic appeal. The dial now features a triangular hour marker at 12 o’clock and a rectangular hour marker at 6 o’clock for more intuitive reading of the watch.
A luminescent disc on the hour hand clearly distinguishes it from the minute hand. The Yacht-Master II’s countdown can be programmed for a duration of between 1 and 10 minutes. The programming is memorized by the mechanism so that at a reset it returns to the previous setting. Once launched, the countdown can be synchronized on the fly to match the official race countdown.
Oystersteel
Highly resistant to corrosion
Rolex uses Oystersteel for its steel watch cases. Specially developed by the brand, Oystersteel belongs to the 904L steel family, alloys most commonly used in high-technology and in the aerospace and chemical industries, where maximum resistance to corrosion is essential.
Oystersteel is extremely resistant, offers an exceptional finish once polished and maintains its beauty even in the harshest environments.
The Oyster bracelet
Alchemy of form and function.
The Oyster bracelet is a perfect alchemy of form and function, aesthetics and technology, designed to be both robust and comfortable. It is equipped with an Oysterlock folding clasp, which prevents accidental opening and the Easylink comfort extension link, also exclusive to Rolex.
This ingenious system allows the wearer to increase the bracelet length by approximately 5 mm, providing additional comfort in any circumstance.
