43' 2008 Cruisers Yachts 420 Express

Immaculate! While this 2008 Cruisers Yacht Express 420 is dubbed S2, any synonym of pristine is a fitting name for this yacht. It appears to have just come off the show floor with upgrades such as a roll-on tender system, remote docking, LED lights throughout (even under the railing), and a new Garmin GPS. Pelican Snow Trek Sport 75 Utility Sled Review

Initial Thoughts (12/25/13):

I have been using two of Pelican's Snow Trek 60 utility sleds for the past couple years for snow camping. They have worked great when pulled behind my snowmobiles, but I have wanted a larger gear sled. Pelican released a new model this season called the Snow Trek Sport 75 utility sled. It is similar to the old Snow Trek 75 model except that it is a little taller and red in color. Compared to my Snow Trek 60 sleds, the Sport 75 is a beast. It is much larger, heavier, and stouter. It is just what I was looking for. The wider stance should mean this utility sled will be less prone to tipping.

While the Snow Trek Sport 75 utility sled is considerably more expensive than a Snow Trek 60, the increased size, strength, and included items outweigh the increased cost in my opinion. I was pleasantly surprised that the Sport 75 came with the RAM-X™ runners pre-installed. I was expecting to have to install them like I did on my Snow Trek 60 sleds (which was kind of a pain). Pelican also used bolts to attach the runners at the front and then screws the rest of the way. This is an improvement over the runners for their other sleds which only come with screws and can be prone to detaching.

I like the groves that are built into the Snow Trek Sport 75 as they allow dividers or platforms to be cut out of plywood and secured in place. This adds versatility to the product. I wish Pelican included footman loops around the perimeter to make lashing gear easier, but they can be easily added.

The included cover is large enough so that the sled can be loaded quite a bit above the sides yet still stay firmly in place. It seems durable, but I am not sure how water resistant it is. On cold snowy days it should work great for keeping snow out of the sled, but wet snow may be a different story.

Initial Field Test (02/16/14):

My first use of the Pelican Snow Trek Sport 75 utility sled was during a family snow play day on Mt Hood. Without a doubt it is my new favorite gear sled for pulling behind a snowmobile. I used it to haul gear and people back and forth about a mile each way from our day camp spot and the parking lot.

First of all, I love how large it is. I can carry more gear, which means less trips. I also love the cover which allows me to pack the sled with loose items instead of large tote bins in an effort to keep the contents dry. The cover works great, is easy to use, and keeps the contents dry.

My most favorite quality of the Snow Trek Sport 75 utility sled is that it does not roll over. It stayed right on track behind my snowmobile even over rough terrain. I can see it being a great sled over the long term.

Extended Field Testing (01/05/15):

The Pelican Snow Trek Sport 75 utility sled has continued to be a great performer. The longest tow I have taken it on was 17 miles each way. It did not roll over a single time while my Pelican Snow Trek 60 rolled over many times (very annoying).

The cover has proven to be invaluable at keeping snow out of the sled and the contents dry underneath. It makes it easy to get things out during quick rest stops. It has held up well and still looks new as does the actual sled.

Final Thoughts (04/12/15):

The Pelican Snow Trek Sport 75 utility sled is the best gear sled I have found to date for pulling behind a snowmobile. I plan on getting rid of my Pelican Snow Trek 60 sleds and purchasing another Snow Trek Sport 75 next season.

Pelican International is a Canadian company, so you will likely not find the Pelican Snow Trek Sport 75 locally in the U.S.A. I ordered mine from SportsAuthority.com at the beginning of winter. Since it is spring now, you probably will have to wait until next year to order one online.

My team and I tested the largest ice fishing sleds currently available on the market, and evaluated them on their size, capacity, weight, and overall performance.

Based on our testing, here is our pick of the best big ice fishing sleds in 2023:

What are the biggest ice fishing sleds on the market in 2023?

The table above shows the key specs of the 5 largest ice fishing sleds on the market that we tested.

All of these sleds have a maximal cargo load capacity of over 500 pounds, which means you need to tow the sled behind a motorized ice fishing vehicle when it is fully loaded.

Now let’s take a closer look at each of these ice fishing sleds.

Otter Pro Sled Large

This is the largest sled made by Otter, and similar to the other models on this list it needs to be towed by a motorized vehicle when fully loaded.

This means it’s a great option if you have a snowmobile or ATV to tow your ice fishing sled on the ice.

And while the Otter Pro Sled Large has the largest load capacity of all the ice sleds covered in this article, it’s actually a bit shorter than the Pelican Trek Sport 94 (though it makes up for this with its greater width).

When we put it to the test, we found that this sled can easily hold an ice auger , bucket, rod holders, and all the other ice fishing gear needed for a successful hardwater fishing trip.

When buying a super sized sled like this, you also need to consider how you will transport it on land.

In most cases this means stowing it on the back of a pick up truck, since these models are too large to fit inside a car.

During our testing we found that depending on the size of your pickup truck, either the Otter Pro Sled Large, or the Pelican Trek Sport 94 could be a better choice for you.

Based on our testing, you’ll probably want a pickup truck with an 8 foot bed in order to be able to transport them.

This sled is made of hardened Polyethylene resin, and comes with a raised front, which helps with snow resistance.

It doesn’t come with a tow bar, which you’ll need to buy separately, but has built-in hitch pockets. The warranty is 2 years.

Weight : 75 lbs

Pelican Trek Sport 94 Utility Sled

The Pelican Trek Sport 94 Utility Sled is the largest model manufactured by Pelican.

It comes close to the Otter Pro Sled Large in its capacity, but has the added advantage that it also comes with a tow hitch included in the package. The tow hitch can be folded back over the sled during transportation.

But keep in mind that with 94 inches of length, this is the longest sled covered in this article, which means you need to make sure your truck is big enough to carry it.

With a width of 37 inches the Pelican Trek 94 is narrower than the Otter Pro Sled Large, and weighing in at 50 lbs, it is also significantly lighter than the Otter.

In terms of build material, this ice sled comes with hardened RAM-X polyethylene construction, and during our testing we found that this is extremely durable, and ensures that it can have a lifetime of many seasons (assuming normal usage).

It also comes with divider templates that fit into molded divider slots, and when we tested it we found that this means you can subdivide it into compartments as you see fit.

It has a slightly raised front for snow resistance, and the runners are made of HDPE, which have low maintenance and an extended lifespan compared to other models.

Since this model is built to be towed by a motorized vehicle, it comes with rear deflectors on the back of the sled.

Finally, the Pelican Trek Sport 94 comes with a travel cover, and while testing it we found that this allows you to protect it during transport.

Weight : 50 lbs

Shappell Jet Sled Magnum

While the Shappell Jet Sled Magnum is slightly smaller than the two previously discussed models, it still comes with a capacity of 600 lbs, which is enough to handle most angler’s ice fishing equipment .

During our testing we found that a key advantage of this sled model is that, due to its slightly smaller dimensions, it fits on the back of a 6 foot pickup truck.

And given that the majority of pickup trucks have 6 foot beds, our testing revealed that this gives the Shappell Jet Sled Magnum and edge over the competition in terms of portability.

Weighing in at 39 lbs, it is significantly lighter than the two previous models.

This sled is made of hardened Polyethylene, and comes with molded runners. A tow hitch or tow rope is not included, and so needs to be purchased separately.

Dimensions : 70″ L x 44″ W x 15″ H

Weight : 39 lbs

Otter Pro Sled Magnum

This is a slightly smaller version of the Otter Pro Sled, and comes with the key advantage that it fits comfortably on the bed of a standard pickup truck.

During our testing we found that together with the Shappell Jet ice fishing sled (reviewed above) and the Pelican Trek Sport 75 (reviewed below), these 3 models are the top choices for most ice anglers due to their size compatibility with a standard truck.

Apart from its size, it comes with the same build and features as the Otter Pro Sled Large, and is one of the top models on the market.

Weight : 42 lbs

Pelican Trek Sport 75 Utility Sled

While this is still a very large sled, the Pelican Trek Sport 75 is the smallest model covered in this review.

And with 33 lbs The Pelican Trek 75 is also considerably lighter than the other models.

But similar to the two previous models, our testing revealed that it comes with the advantage of fitting comfortably on the back of a standard pickup truck, which is crucial for most people.

How to choose the best ice fishing sled

Now that you’ve seen our list of the most spacious ice fishing sleds on the market, how do you choose the right one for your purposes?

Based on our testing, let’s take a quick look at the most crucial factors that you should take into account.

When buying an extra large ice fishing sled you’ll need a motorized vehicle to tow it on the ice.

So if you want to be able to use one of these sled models, you either need a snowmobile or an ATV that can haul heavy loads around on the ice (especially if you plan to use your sled fully loaded).

And because of this, you also need to make sure that you get a compatible hitch with your ice sled in order to tow it behind a snowmobile.

The Pelican sleds covered in this review come with a hitch included, while the others do not, which means you have to purchase one separately.

If you’re getting a super-sized ice fishing sled you also need to make sure that it fits on the bed of your pickup truck.

The two largest models covered in this review (the Otter Pro Sled Large and the Pelican Trek Sport 94) are both too long to fit on a standard pickup truck, which means you’ll need a pickup truck with an 8-foot bed to transport them.

The other three models, however, do fit on a standard pickup truck (though not on a short one). In any case, make sure that you choose a compatible size with your vehicle.

Ice sleds are expensive, so investing in one that will endure for many years is essential.

So make sure the sled you choose will survive for many ice fishing seasons as long as it doesn’t get too much abuse.

Polyethylene sleds with a reinforced bottom are typically the strongest and most rugged, as well as being relatively lightweight.

Gear and methods used for testing

For consistent testing results we tested all of the ice fishing sleds reviewed in this article over a period of three days on Leech Lake in mid February. Ice thickness was 13 to 16 inches, and we tested the sleds by loading them with a full set of ice fishing gear, and towing them behind a Polaris Sportsman 570 ATV.

Strange Glow Over Moscow Skies Triggers Panic as Explosions Reported

B right flashes lit up the night sky in southern Moscow in the early hours of Thursday morning, new footage appears to show, following reports of an explosion at an electrical substation on the outskirts of the city.

Video snippets circulating on Russian-language Telegram channels show a series of flashes on the horizon of a cloudy night sky, momentarily turning the sky a number of different colors. In a clip shared by Russian outlet MSK1.ru, smoke can be seen rising from a building during the flashes lighting up the scene.

Newsweek was unable to independently verify the details of the video clips, including when and where it was filmed. The Russian Ministry of Emergency situations has been contacted via email.

Several Russian Telegram accounts said early on Thursday that residents of southern Moscow reported an explosion and a fire breaking out at an electrical substation in the Leninsky district, southeast of central Moscow.

Local authorities in the Leninsky district told Russian outlet RBC that the explosion had happened in the village of Molokovo. "All vital facilities are operating as normal," Leninsky district officials told the outlet.

The incident at the substation in Molokovo took place just before 2 a.m. local time, MSK1.ru reported.

Messages published by the ASTRA Telegram account, run by independent Russian journalists, appear to show residents close to the substation panicking as they question the bright flashes in the sky. One local resident describes seeing the bright light before losing access to electricity, with another calling the incident a "nightmare."

More than 10 villages and towns in the southeast of Moscow lost access to electricity, the ASTRA Telegram account also reported. The town of Lytkarino to the southeast of Moscow, lost electricity, wrote the eastern European-based independent outlet, Meduza.

Outages were reported in the southern Domodedovo area of the city, according to another Russian outlet, as well as power failures in western Moscow. Electricity was then restored to the areas, the Strana.ua outlet reported.

The cause of the reported explosion is not known. A Telegram account aggregating news for the Lytkarino area described the incident as "an ordinary accident at a substation."

The MSK1.ru outlet quoted a local resident who speculated that a drone may have been responsible for the explosion, but no other Russian source reported this as a possible cause.

Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Moscow with long-range aerial drones in recent months, including a dramatic wave of strikes in late May.

On Sunday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the region's air defense systems had intercepted an aerial drone over the city of Elektrostal, to the east of Moscow. No damage or casualties were reported, he said.

The previous day, Russian air defenses detected and shot down another drone flying over the Bogorodsky district, northeast of central Moscow, Sobyanin said.

There is currently no evidence that an aerial drone was responsible for the reported overnight explosion at the electrical substation in southern Moscow.

The interior of the YALLA yacht was a finalist for The ShowBoats Design Awards 2015 for Interior Design in a Motor Yacht over 500GT.

The exterior of the YALLA yacht was a finalist for the Naval Architecture Award on a Displacement Motor Yacht and the Exterior Design & Styling Award on a Motor Yacht over 500GT at The ShowBoats Design Awards 2015.

With its four spacious decks and sleek and sporty lines, the YALLA is an eye-catching yacht on the water. She was delivered in 2014 with a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure.

The new megayacht, the first to be built by CRN on the new naval platform of 12.50 metres in width, is characterized by sleek, slender and sporty lines, which make the profile particularly streamlined. With 5 decks, M/Y CRN 132 73 m can host up to 12 guests in its six cabins, including the Owner Suite and Vip cabins, together with a crew of 22 members.

The construction of this new jewel of the sea, which includes the best design solutions realized by CRN, has required around 430,000 hours of work from the shipyard workers and subcontractors and the daily contribution of over 150 direct and indirect workers.

The Acquisition

Off the Hook Yachts is proud to announce the acquisition of Georgetown Yacht Basin (GYB) now rebranding under Georgetown Yacht Haven – a 300-boat slip full-service marina located on the Sassafras River in Georgetown, MD. Off the Hook plans to restore the yacht basin to its former glory and reconnect with the local community in order to establish it as a household name in the area.

As our founder is originally from Maryland, this will complement our current presence in the area, along with our MD sales team, which currently operates out of Bay Bridge Marina. The acquisition of the marina will allow us to expand on sales, service, and custom-built Nor-Tech Performance Boat sales in the region. Georgetown Yacht Haven has 300 slips, two paint sheds that can hold up to a 110-foot yacht, a 110-ton travel lift, a fuel dock, a swimming pool, bathhouses, and a complete ship store, along with many other amenities. GYH controls the largest travel lift in Northern Chesapeake Bay.

The 73.76m/242' 'Cocoa Bean' motor yacht built by the American shipyard Trinity Yachts is available for charter for up to 12 guests in 6 cabins. This yacht features interior styling by British designer Evan K Marshall.

Built in 2014, Cocoa Bean is custom-built for world-class luxury yacht chartering, offering a wealth of spacious living areas and fabulous amenities, you'll be in for a treat from the moment you step on board. She has sensational features such as an elevator, beach club and gym.

Guest Accommodation

Cocoa Bean offers guest accommodation for up to 12 guests in 6 suites comprising a master suite located on the main deck, one VIP cabin, two double cabins and two twin cabins. There are 6 beds in total, including 4 king and 4 singles. A crew of nineteen, who specialize in creating exceptional charters, are on hand to provide guests with a yacht charter vacation to remember.

Onboard Comfort & Entertainment

Keeping comfortable and entertained on Cocoa Bean is easy thanks to the available amenities, particularly a beach club for you to relax on the edge of the water. Maintain your fitness routine and work out in the well-equipped gym or soak up the bubbles in style in the deck jacuzzi.

Whatever your activities on your charter, you'll find some impressive features are seamlessly integrated to help you, particularly an elevator, making any part of the yacht quickly and easily accessible. Whether you want to work, use social media or stream movies on board this yacht, you can with Wi-Fi connectivity or guests will experience complete comfort while chartering thanks to air conditioning.

Performance & Range

Cocoa Bean is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Powered by twin Caterpillar engines, she comfortably cruises at 14 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 15 knots with a range of up to 6,000 nautical miles from her 242,266 litre fuel tanks at 13 knots. An advanced stabilisation system on board reduces the side-to-side roll of the yacht and promises guests exceptional comfort levels at anchor or when underway.

Cocoa Bean knows a thing or two about fun on the water, with a selection of water toys and accessories for you and your guests to enjoy whilst on charter. Take to the sea on the Jet Skis offering you power and control on the water. Also there are waterskis that are hugely entertaining whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro. Additionally, there are two kayaks - a tranquil and relaxing way to pass the time. If that isn't enough Cocoa Bean also features scuba diving equipment, inflatable water toys, paddleboards and snorkelling equipment. Cocoa Bean features two tenders, but leading the pack is a 7.62m/25' Chapman RIB to transport you in style.

Cocoa Bean is available upon request for charter this winter. She is already accepting bookings this summer for cruising in the Mediterranean.

73m superyacht Yalla launched by CRN

Italian yacht builder CRN has launched its 73m superyacht Yalla .

CRN welcomed more than 1,000 guests to the launching ceremony of CRN 132 Yalla , held late this morning at its shipyard in Ancona, Italy. The launch ceremony included speeches from Alberto Galassi, new CEO of the Ferretti Group , Lamberto Tacoli, Chairman and CEO of CRN, Xinyu Xu, Vice-chairman of Weichai Group, and the Mayor of Ancona Valeria Mancinelli.

Part of the Ferretti Group, CRN specialises in custom yachts up to 90 metres in steel and aluminium. Yalla is the first yacht built by CRN on its new 12.5m beam platform. More than 430,000 hours from CRN and its subcontractors were spent on Yalla 's build, with contributions from 150 employees.

Exterior styling comes from Omega Architects in The Netherlands, in close collaboration with the CRN Engineering Department. The five-deck motor yacht features sleek, sporty lines and a streamlined profile. Superyacht Yalla 's interiors are by Droulers Architecture, working with CRN's Interiors and Design Office. She hosts up to 12 guests in its six cabins, including an owner's suite and VIP cabins, along with 22 crew members.

'Following the launch of CRN 133 61m superyacht a few months ago, we are proud to celebrate the launch of the new Yalla of 73m, which represents a challenge and an objective for the whole CRN shipyard,' says Lamberto Tacoli, Chairman and CEO of CRN. ' Yalla will mark another important result for the development of CRN in the world. A sincere thanks for the trust of the owner and for the work of all employees and subcontractors who have worked on the project, to the architects Franck Laupman of Omega Architects and to Droulers Architecture. I also thank our shareholder Weichai Group and the new CEO of the Group Alberto Galassi for their participation in this important event for CRN and for the whole Ferretti Group.'

The Ferretti Group currently has five superyachts underway at the Ancona shipyard, including the 74m CRN 131, 55m CRN 134, a Ferretti Custom Line CL 124, the 61m CRN 133 and the Riva 122 Mythos , which are at the delivery stage.

Newsweek was unable to independently verify the details of the video clips, including when and where it was filmed. The Russian Ministry of Emergency situations has been contacted via email.

The incident at the substation in Molokovo took place just before 2 a.m. local time, MSK1.ru reported.

The cause of the reported explosion is not known. A Telegram account aggregating news for the Lytkarino area described the incident as "an ordinary accident at a substation."

The MSK1.ru outlet quoted a local resident who speculated that a drone may have been responsible for the explosion, but no other Russian source reported this as a possible cause.

Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Moscow with long-range aerial drones in recent months, including a dramatic wave of strikes in late May.

The previous day, Russian air defenses detected and shot down another drone flying over the Bogorodsky district, northeast of central Moscow, Sobyanin said.

There is currently no evidence that an aerial drone was responsible for the reported overnight explosion at the electrical substation in southern Moscow.

Cape cod canal cruises.

Get an underbelly view of the Cape's two swooping car bridges and its unusual railroad bridge as you wend your way among a wide array of interesting craft and a narrator fills you in on the Canal's history. Basically, it was the brainchild of New York financial wizard Augustus Perry Belmont, who completed it in 1914 at a cost of $16 million and never saw a penny of profit. Found to be too narrow and perilous (the current reverses with the tides, roughly every 6 hr.), the ambitious waterway was handed over to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for expansion in 1928 at the discount price of $11.5 million. It continues to serve as a vital shortcut, sparing some 30,000 boats yearly the long, dangerous circuit of the Outer Cape.

The 4pm family cruise, offered Monday to Saturday, is a real bargain, at $12 per adult and free for children 12 and under. The Sunday-afternoon trip is accompanied by New Orleans-style jazz, and the sunset-entertainment cruises on Friday and Saturday (adults over 21 only) feature live bands.

Onset Town Pier

With great fishing, regional boat tours, rental slips and moorings, and access to one of the region’s most protected harbors, the Onset Town Pier is the centerpiece of bustling Onset Village. This large pier on the calm waters of Onset Bay provides boaters and landlubbers alike access to the best outdoor activities that Onset has to offer.

Bring a fishing pole to Onset Town Pier for a chance to catch migrating stripers and bluefish.

Onset Town Pier is a great stopping place for mariners heading into Buzzards Bay or transiting the nearby Cape Cod Canal. Tucked into the upper reaches of Buzzards Bay, Onset Bay’s protected waters shelter boats from rough seas and offer a prime place for fishing and paddling. The pier is also just steps from restaurants, shopping, and the sandy shores of Onset Beach , offering a full day’s worth of activities.

There are slip rentals available at the dock, or rent a mooring and use the Wareham Harbormaster’s launch service (available from June through September) for quick access to Onset Town Pier. The pier is also within a few minutes of a boat ramp and fuel station, both located to the east just beyond the Stone Bridge.

Those coming to Onset Town Pier from the land will find plenty to enjoy here, too. Anglers will be in good company casting from this popular fishing pier, where fluke, sea robin, and juvenile “schoolie” striped bass are common fare in spring and summer, and luck might land you a wandering bluefish or adult striper. Want to get out on the water? Book a fishing charter or Cape Cod Canal cruise from the pier to the region’s nearby waters. If you need help with anything, just ask the folks in the seasonal Harbormaster office, located right on the pier.

Habitats & Wildlife

Onset Bay’s peaceful waters are home to a diverse array of coastal wildlife. These shores are rich with shellfish, from quahogs and crabs to whelks and moon snails. Stripers move into Onset Bay in the spring and late summer as they migrate along the coast, making it a great place to go fishing . Even dolphins have been spotted taking shelter in this calm harbor!

Above the water, ospreys nest along the shoreline and are a common sight in the summer as they hunt for fish. You can’t miss the numerous cormorants slipping underwater in pursuit of fish and drying out their wings atop docks, rocks, and unattended boats.

OSPREY is a fine example of a very hard-to-come-by 2016 Hunt Harrier 26 powered with the optional Yamaha 300hp outboard motor with only 215 hours. Lift-kept with custom sun covers, she shows beautifully with her Stars & Stripes blue hull, Oyster White boot stripe and black bottom. In 2018 the Yamaha outboard motor was painted to match the gelcoat and a faux teak transom was applied, nice custom touches done by the Hinckley Company. Properly maintained and serviced (full outboard motor service, with computer check and compression test, March 2022) make OSPREY a true ‘turn key’ offering. Drone flying toward Moscow downed in Elektrostal

MOSCOW, November 19. A drone flying to Moscow has been downed by air defense systems in Elektrostal in the Moscow Region, no one was hurt, Moscow’s Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said on Sunday.

"In the Elektrostal municipal district, air defense forces repelled an attack by a drone, which was flying toward Moscow. According to preliminary data, its fragments fell down incurring no damage. No one was hurt," he wrote on his Telegram channel .

According to the Moscow mayor, emergencies services are working on the site.
