42-knot Pershing motor yacht Bombadil III sold

The 28.1-metre Pershing motor yacht Bombadil III has been sold, with Burgess representing the seller and Lafortune Yachts representing the buyer.

Built in GRP composite in 2021, the 9X model was designed by Fulvio De Simoni , with naval architecture by Ferretti Engineering Department . 

Accommodation is for eight to nine guests in four cabins, comprising three doubles and one twin. There are quarters for a crew of three. The "trademark disappearing window" makes the interior and exterior deck spaces flow into one another seamlessly. There are three exterior deck areas dedicated to guests – on the stern, sundeck and foredeck.

Twin 2,638hp MTUs push Bombadil III to a top speed of 42 knots and cruising speed of 35 knots. The brokers pointed out that the yacht for sale has only been used privately and there are low hours on the engines. She benefits from Seakeeper NG9 stabilisation.

Bombadil III was asking €5,995,000.

'Welcome to Plathville' Season Premiere: See Inside Kim's Surprising New Home Amid Separation (Exclusive)

As her marriage ends, Kim Plath is returning to her roots -- on the water. 

In an exclusive clip shared with ET from the season six premiere of  Welcome to Plathville , the mom of nine takes viewers inside her new home: a 33-foot Chris-Craft boat. 

"It's sort of a less expensive way of having waterfront property," she says in the new footage. 

While it's certainly a change from the farm and homes she shared with ex Barry, boat life is not foreign to Kim. "I grew up on a sailboat and I loved it, so I bought a boat," she explains. 

As for her daughters -- who spend time with her on the boat in the preview clip -- she wants them "to see the boat as gaining a bike trailer and a river and all of this natural beauty around them."

Still, it's an adjustment for her youngest daughters, Cassia, Amber, and Mercy, as they maneuver around the tight living quarters -- including two beds doubling as couches -- and take turns with a tiny bathroom. As Kim explains, they also can use bathrooms at the marina, which are more spacious, particularly for showering. 

"I really worked hard to make it as livable for them as possible," Kim says. 

While she and Barry have been separated since December 2021, Kim only recently filed for divorce on June 26 after they tied the knot 27 years ago in 1997. 

In the divorce filing, obtained by ET, Kim is seeking primary custody of their three minor children with a request that Barry pay child support. 

The former husband and wife welcomed 10 children together: Ethan, Hosanna, Micah, Moriah, Lydia, Isaac, Amber, Cassia, and Mercy. Their son, Joshua, died in an accident in 2008 at 17 months old. 

When they announced their split in June 2022, the two said in a statement , "While this was not an easy decision, we know it's the best choice for both of us."

Added Kim and Barry, "We have been through many highs and lows in our 24 years of marriage and as we navigate this new chapter in our lives, we will co-parent our amazing children." 

The new season of Welcome to Plathville premieres Tuesday, July 16th at 10/9c on TLC.

The all-electric Tridente is nothing if not dashing. It joins other electric boats affiliated with sports car marques, including the Frauscher X Porsche 850 Fantom Air and BMW-designed Tyde foiling electric boat . The Maserati has a much more conventional look than the other two.

The Tridente debuted alongside the car manufacturer’s newest electric vehicle, the Grancabrio Folgore, meaning “lightning bolt” in Italian. Maserati’s head of design, Klaus Busse, was on hand for both launches. Busse, a genial and strikingly tall German, had this to say about Maserati’s design approach, and Italian design overall: “If you look at the design of the Porsche 911, for example, you can see the Germans evolved it little by little over time—as if they are on a road to the idea of perfection. But with Italians, every ten years or so, they break everything and start with something fresh and new.”

Somewhat ironically, the Tridente seems to pull more from the German school of thought. Sleek and classic looking, there is nothing groundbreaking about the aesthetics. The boat has the familiar design language of an old Riva runabout—gently cambered bow deck, tumblehome in the after section—though built with modern materials and colors, and adorned nearly everywhere with the Maserati emblem.

But when the Tridente first pulled into view beside the lake’s breakwater, and the dark-blue water shimmered off its steel-gray hull, for a moment the machine looked almost surreal. It was stunning.

The boat is built around a carbon-fiber hull for rigidity and weight savings, and the fit and finish meets the standards one might expect: soft leathers, tight stitching, and a general feeling of solidity to the seating. This model seats eight comfortably, with wraparound seating at amidships and a scooped-out section aft that is, in effect, a giant sunpad. The cabin is tiny, but could fit a child who needs a nap out of the sun.

Maserati enlisted Vita Power, the EV marine company, for Tridente’s electric propulsion system. The boat is powered by four batteries that weigh 3,200 pounds, which explains the choice of lightweight carbon fiber for the hull. The entire boat displaces 11,400 pounds, about 2,000 pounds less than a Riva Aquariva 33. That light weight, paired with the equivalent of 600 horsepower, lets the Tridente accelerate like a proper sportscar.

When I pinned the throttle I felt real G forces pressing me into the captain’s seat—common for a high-performance raceboat, but rare for an electric vessel. The helm is a simple setup: a center touchscreen and two throttles. The reported top end is 46 mph, but I saw 42.6. At a 25-knot cruise, the Tridente has a 43-mile range, more than enough to get from Monaco to Cannes on a single charge.

Maserati says the batteries can be topped off in under an hour via a fast-charging DC connection. Running at cruise, the Maserati manifested the nimbleness requisite of a boat in this class, slicing cleanly through S turns and hard overs.

There were no waves, but I did send the Tridente through its own wake and was pleased with the way the hull split the chop. In the end, it proved a very fun boat to drive and looked exceptional with the lake and mountain backdrop.

The price may well be a bit much for most boaters to swallow, even if it’s the coolest superyacht tender on the planet. But if you want what is arguably the world’s most advanced and best-constructed electric boat, the Tridente fits the bill, an evolutionary leap for a classic-looking Italian runabout.

Lady Reeja is a Whitby 42-foot center cockpit staysail ketch, Hull #332. She was built in Canada in 1986 and one of the last two Whitby’s built in Whitby Ontario.

Master Stateroom

The interior of the Master stateroom is finished in beautiful satin Cherry. The led lights are on

The Master stateroom is a center line King with nightstands and storage drawers on either side.

The heads are accessed by port and starboard doors and each side has a toilet and sink area

with light Cream of Marphil counter tops. There are beveled mirrors in the inside of the port and

starboard head doors.

In the stateroom there are hanging lockers and storage drawers on each side that are plenty for

cruising. The large TV is on the forward Port side. On the port side there is a comfortable vanity

and seat, the perfect spot for getting ready for your day.

VIP Stateroom

The VIP is a queen. Under the berth there are several deep storage drawers. There is a cedar

lined hanging locker on the port and starboard side. Overhead there are two opening hatches

with blackout and bug screens. There is a Samsung TV on the aft wall . The room is finished in

satin Cherry with high gloss teak and holly floors.

Enclosed Command Bridge / Upper Aft Deck

It is always a nice day in the Command Bridge. This is also a great place to live in while not

underway. The large seating and table provide the best views. The twin Stidd helm chairs are

very comfortable. The Garmin Electronics package is complete with dual 15″ screens, 4kw open

array radar and a backup 4 KW radar, sounder module and camera system.

The CAT electronic display is immediately forward of the large Teak and Ebony wheel. All the

yachts systems can be monitored by viewing the indicators above the helm area. You can

monitor the status of all tanks, battery banks, and warning devices.

There is a very nice Day head in the port aft corner of the Command Bridge. The combination

of the enclosed climate controlled helm, drink fridge and day head make this the perfect yacht

for those that want to really travel. You wont need to go downstairs at all on a long trip.

When you go out the back door of the Command Bridge you will find a large table and bench

seat. This is the perfect spot on a nice evening. With the grill a few steps away this is a good

spot for and evening meal. On the aft wall of the Command Bridge there is a row of large

storage cabinets. This is the perfect place for storing covers and life jackets.

Crew Cabin or Extra Stateroom

Even if you are not sure you want crew, you will find the spacious crew cabin provides great

storage and on those family gatherings no one will feel slighted staying in this space. You may

find with the great range of the Marlow Explorer you will want to venture offshore for days at a

time and taking on some help is a very nice option.

The Crew Cabin has its own entrance so they do not need to come into the salon to get to their

quarters. There is an oversize berth, head and shower, TV, ample storage, and a refrigerator

and microwave.

Electronics

The Command bridge features 3 15″ multi function chart plotter displays. The components are

networked and all displays can do any function (Radar, Chart Plotter, Depth). The major

components are listed below.

Engine Room

The Engine Room is beautiful. The bilges are bright white. The space is well lit. Four 24Volt

DC fans circulate air in and out.

The 1500 Gallon fuel tank is in the forward bulkhead. The tank is custom built with epoxy

fiberglass and is shaped to use all possible space maximizing capacity. There is a spring

loaded Bronze shutoff valve that can be closed from the side deck in an emergency. All fuel

supply lines are stainless steel wherever possible. At the center of the tank there is a glass

sight glass marked off in gallons.

The Caterpillar C-18’S are rated at 1,150 HP each. The engines

sit on composite stringers made from Carbon Fiber. The CAT Engines have the Advantage

Warranty That is transferable to the new owner. The ZF Transmissions connect to the fluid filled

shaft system through an intermediate shaft with two sets of U joints, increasing efficiency and

eliminating any on going alignment issues. This system also eliminates the need for a

conventional salt water cooled shaft seal, eliminating any salt water from drive line. The shaft

is fully enclosed in a tube full of synthetic lubrication oil. This system also replaces the

conventional cutlass bearing with ball bearings for smooth operation for many years.

The boat has twin 17 KW Onan Generators with all services updated. They are outboard of the engines. Thegenerators are sized to run all the systems on the boat. On the aft wall there is a 3.5KW

Outback inverter. The inverter will run all the refrigeration and many other systems for the day,

eliminating the need to run the generator all the time.

To Starboard you will find two large Marine Air Chillers. The Chilled water AC system is much

more robust than conventional DX systems and offers complete redundancy.

The yacht is set up to use 2 50A shore power cords when you are running the Air Conditioning.

In good weather when you do not need Air Conditioning one cord will run the boat. This yacht

has 2 glendining cablemasters at the Bow and 2 at the stern providing great flexibility.

The yacht has a 3,500W inverter system that is hooked up to 4 large house batteries that will

run the refrigeration and deck outlets when you do not have dock power or a generator running.

You will find that this yacht is simple to use and the electrical system is intuitive and easy to

understand.
