The new Nacira 69

25 knots in the Strait of Bonifacio. Flat sea. Perfect conditions. Time to sail. Fast. Designed on a new generation hull derived from the Imoca 60 by Guillaume Verdier and Axel de Beaufort, this state-of-the-art ship is halfway between racing and cruising, combining a bespoke elegant design with sailing performances. The hull is made of carbon pre-peg to get a lighter construction and ensure a sustained increase of the overall performance. On the deck and on some interior panels and bulkheads, nomex is used. The mast and the boom are in carbon, resting on deck to allow maximum use of the interior spaces and moved further towards the stern, very close to the longitudinal center of the boat. A retractable-tilting keel, with a variable draft from 2.50 m to 4.25 m ensure high performances and versatility ‍

“12” NACIRA 69

Two expert Owners and the idea of a modern and very fast 69 ‘cruising boat, a hull to sail in the oceans without losing the possibility of still being close to the coast and in small coves with shallow waters. This is the “basic recipe” that led to the birth of “12” involving Axel de Beaufort, Guillaume Verdier and Hervé Penfornis for the design, the Vismara Marine-Rega Yachts Shipyard for the construction and Trimarine for the coordination and supervision. The hull shape of “12” exploits the experiences accumulated by Team Verdier in the design of the IMOCA 60 and 100′ “Comanche” while the innovative canting-lifting keel – at the “heart” of the project – designed in collaboration with the Cariboni company guarantees very high performance thanks to the canting system with a rotation axis inclined by 5 °; at the same time, thanks to the lifting system, it satisfies the Owners’ requests, going from 4.3 m of draft while sailing, to 2.5 m when at anchor or in port. The deck and the interiors – personally supervised by Axel de Beaufort – are definitely “outside the box”, but respond to the needs of a boat to be used by the family for long-term fast cruises. The sail plan similar to that of the IMOCA 60, with a canted aft mast and with three jibs rigged on furling stays, guarantees ease of maneuver even with a small crew, as well as the large aft dinette, with an open view of the gigantic cockpit, allows those who are in the saloon to stay in touch with those in the cockpit and enjoy the sea from almost the same level. The carbon prepreg construction with Corecell cores for the hull and Nomex honeycomb for the deck and internal furnishings, has allowed for a cruise boat design with a decidedly light displacement, but the great attention given at all times to weight control was the fundamental element in order not to exceed the project values. Trimarine was involved by the Owners in the project of the Nacira 69 “12” from the very beginning, collaborating actively with them and then working together with the team involved in the design, construction, fitting and testing.

Vismara launches Nacira 69 cruising sailing yacht

Vismara Marine has launched its Nacira 69 cruising sailing yacht in Viareggio, Italy. The 23 metre yacht was designed by Vismara in collaboration with naval architects  Guillaume Verdier and Axel de Beaufort.

Built on a new generation hull inspired by the Imoca 60, the cruiser was built from carbon pre-preg and nomex under the supervision of Trimarine.

Key on deck features include a carbon mast and boom and four bow sails, with an overall sail area totalling 334 square metres.

The yacht is also equipped with a retractable tilting keel allowing for an in-port draught of 2.5 metres and sailing draught of 4.25 metres.

The interiors meanwhile are “spacious and comfortable”. The living area, comprising a dinette and large kitchen, sits at the stern and is accessible via a staircase leading down from the aft cockpit.

The sleeping area, meanwhile, sits forward with three cabins to starboard and a bathroom and cabin on the portside.

The yard revealed that the yacht, which has a beam measuring 5.8 metres, will be used for “extremely sport and fast cruising”, as well as racing.

Nacira 69 wins at ARC 2021

Congratulations to the crew of Italian flagged yacht 12 Nacira 69 for taking ARC 2021 line honours in Rodney Bay, Saint Lucia, arriving in the early hours of Friday 3 December 2021.

Crossing the line at 03:16:45 local time, following an exciting race to the line with their closest rivals on Guyader Saveol , the crew of the stunning Vismara carbon racer received the warmest of welcomes to Saint Lucia despite the early hour.

Calm winds at the start of the rally, which departed from Las Palmas on Sunday 21 November, were not on the wish list for this sleek 23 meter monohull but as the trade winds finally picked up they made good time during the second half of their 3,188 NM route reaching up to incredible speeds of 28kts.

Spokesperson for the crew, Matteo Grassi, said “Most of the crew have experienced the crossing before but we didn’t expect to get so much wind in the last few days and we did almost 400 NM in one day, the boat is just a missile.”

12 Nacira 69 is owned by Diego Paternò Castello di San Giuliano and Federico Marchi, and skippered on the ARC by Federico Dosso. The crew includes Italian mini-transat sailor Ambrogio Beccaria and yacht designers Matteo Tognetti, Edoardo Mazzucco, and Bernardo Zin.
