royal city yacht club

Business name : Royal City Yacht Club

The Royal City Yacht Club was founded October 22, 1941 with the filing of the formal Bylaws and registration as a non-profit society. The membership met at their clubhouse on Dyke Road, New Westminster on the South Arm of the Fraser River in what is now called the Royal City Marina, for 60 years! During the height of the Second World War the club remained inactive, reconvening in 1946. Eventually the clubhouse was sold and rented back to RCYC in an arrangement that prevailed until Dec 31, 2001. For a short while an agreement was made with the Navy League to house the meetings and club paraphernalia at the Sea Cadet Base on Annacis Island. In 2002 negotiations began with Airport Yacht Club to cohabitate in their facility on the Middle Arm of the Fraser River in Richmond. By 2003 terms were reached between the parties and RCYC moved into their new home. This served us well until 2010, after which we met at a variety of venues until the present one, the Delta Golf Club, 11550 Ladner Trunk Road was decided on two years ago. This has been very successful. Our Bridge meetings are held at various personal residences.

Royal City Yacht Club continues to maintain its relationship with New Westminster, however, we also take an active roll in Delta as we support the Delta Christmas Toy Drive and we take part in the Ladner Christmas Cruise with our vessels decorated with Christmas lights and other seasonal ornaments..

An Outstation was established on Saltspring Island in 2001 at Ganges Marina. RCYC was proud to claim 100 feet of uninterrupted dock space in the heart of one of the most popular destinations in the Gulf Islands its “home away from home”! Club members enjoy daily use of their outstation and marina facilities 12 months of the year!

Welcome to Yacht Destinations

We are here to help members of yacht clubs to find other clubs to visit while cruising or travelling. Many clubs will extend reciprocal priviledges to members of other yacht clubs. This means that you may be able to tie your boat up to your reciprocal club's dock and/or use their facilities while on a vistit. Reciprocal priviledges offered by a club usually only extend to specific other clubs.

This site was designed to help you find out what is available to you as a member of your yacht club while you are visiting another club. You need to "Create an Account" here and while doing so indicate what yacht club you belong to. Then, when you "Sign In", the database of clubs will filter down to those that are your reciprocal clubs.

The clubs available can be found graphically under the "Destinations Tab" or in tabular form under the "Details" tab. By clicking on the icons on these pages you will find a wealth of information about a club's facilities, terms of use, and the surrounding area.

May you be blessed with a gentle passage and don't forget to bring your burgee!

Another woman alleges Oren Alexander raped her in New York

Here’s why luxury sales are booming in Boca Raton’s most expensive neighborhood

Spec developers churn out waterfront mansions in Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club

Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club (Getty, rpycc)

It’s been a busy year for luxury real estate sales at Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club.

The gated golf community is Boca Raton’s most expensive neighborhood, and the epicenter of the city’s luxury market. Spanning 450 acres and fewer than 700 homes, the community includes a private club by the same name with a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course and a marina. Its 24/7 armed security patrol is particularly popular with the well-heeled set.

Waterfront spec mansions in Royal Palm have repeatedly broken price records in recent years. Boca Raton has other luxury gated communities, like the Sanctuary, where software mogul Oleg Movchan sold an estate for $29 million in February. But none has the same pull as Royal Palm, and none has seen as many eight-figure deals this year.

Part of the phenomenon, agents say, is that South Florida’s luxury buyers have an insatiable appetite for spec mansions, and Royal Palm has plenty to offer.

“It’s become a great playground for investors, developers [and builders],” said Carmen D’Angelo, a broker and co-owner of Premier Estate Properties. Luxury buyers don’t have the time or patience for the homebuilding process, he said. “People come to Florida, and they want instant gratification.”

The most prolific spec developers in Royal Palm are brothers Steve and Scott Dingle , the owners of SRD Building. The Dingles have carved a niche for themselves churning out mansions for Royal Palm buyers. Their longtime partner and agent, David Roberts of Royal Palm Properties, has also made selling homes in the gated community his specialty. It’s turned out to be a lucrative one: Roberts ranked as the top agent in The Real Deal’s 2023 Palm Beach County broker ranking , with $349.8 million in on-market deals closed.

Roberts, who has been an agent at Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club for nearly 40 years, said much of his business is from people moving within the community, but buyers also frequently come from the Northeast, Illinois and California. One thing they all have in common: They have cash to spend.

“I’ve never sold a house to a lottery winner,” he said in a previous interview. “Our folks have done well.”

Here are Royal Palm’s five biggest residential sales this year:

$36M | 2499 East Maya Palm Drive | Seller: Randy Parker

Randy Parker, founder of email marketing giant Constant Contact, set a price record for Boca Raton in May when he sold his longtime family home –– a teardown –– for $36 million . Parker and his siblings, Robin Parker and Suzanne Maddux, sold the waterfront mansion at 2499 East Maya Palm Drive to the Dingles, who are planning a luxury spec project on the 1.7-acre site. The current compound has a 9,500-square-foot mansion, a guest house, two pools and 440 feet of waterfront, according to the listing.

Jill Hertzberg and Jon Mann of the Jills Zeder Group at Coldwell Banker Realty represented the sellers, and Roberts brought the buyers

$28.5m | 360 east alexander palm road | seller: a trust .

Earlier this month, a trust named for the address sold a spec mansion at 360 East Alexander Palm Road built by the Dingles for $28.5 million , records show. Another trust, also named for the address, bought the home. The true buyer and seller are hidden. The Dingles completed the half-acre, 10,700-square-foot mansion earlier this year. The waterfront home has seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, three half-bathrooms, a pool and a dock.

Joe Liguori of Premier Estate Properties brought the buyer, and Roberts had the listing.

$28.5M | 444 East Alexander Palm Road | Seller: Mikhail Avrutin

Hotelier Mikhail Avrutin sold the waterfront spec mansion at 444 East Alexander Palm Road for $28.5 million in April. A trust named for the address bought the 9,900-square-foot mansion, which was completed last year, records show. Built on 0.3 acres, it has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, one half-bathroom, a pool and a dock, according to property records. Avrutin bought the site for $5.5 million in 2020.

Adam Elmer and Marie Mangouta of Fortune Christie’s International Real Estate represented both sides of the deal.

$26.5M | 480 East Alexander Palm Road | Seller: A trust

A trust sold the waterfront spec mansion built by the Dingles at 480 East Alexander Palm Road for $26.5 million in April. Records show a trust sold the home to another trust, with both the buyer and seller hidden. SRD Building completed the 8,900-square-foot, six-bedroom, seven-bathroom mansion earlier this year, records show. The 0.4-acre property includes a pool, a dock, two half-bathrooms, a four-car-plus golf cart garage, and 104 feet of waterfront.

Roberts had the listing, and Ina Bloom of Compass brought the buyer.

$25.9M | 415 East Alexander Palm Road | Seller: G. Robert Sheetz

In March, the founder of the Sheetz convenience store chain sold a waterfront spec mansion for $25.9 million. G. Robert Sheetz sold the house at 415 East Alexander Palm Road to a trust, records show. The true buyer is unknown. Sheetz dropped $4.5 million on the half-acre property in 2019, and completed the 10,700-square-foot waterfront mansion last year, according to property records. The mansion has six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, one half-bathroom, a pool, a dock and a 900-bottle wine room.

Roberts represented both sides of the deal.

Local News | Shirley Wild: Long Beach Yacht Club celebrates its 95th anniversary

royal city yacht club

As the 150 or so guests arrived, they were greeted by the elegant table décor of black cloths and gold sparkling runners. The visual impact was highlighted by pillar centerpieces with golden flowers suspended within.

Dining included tray-served delectable hors d’ oeuvres during the cocktail hour. This taste-treat was followed by seafood and standing prime rib stations. Decadently delicious desserts topped off the calorie count.

The celebration underscored the impact that the club has had, not only in its impressive boating legacy, but also in its active involvement in the local community for nearly a century. Among the various charitable organizations and community initiatives, the club has demonstrated a strong commitment to giving back, including the 1932, 1984 and (soon to be held) 2028 Olympics.

In its beginnings (1927), the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce appointed a special interest group — the chamber’s Alamitos Bay Committee — to develop a yacht harbor and yacht club in the Alamitos Bay. Richard Loynes, the first LBYC commodore in 1929, was instrumental in activities of both committees. Thus, the official beginning of LBYC.

From hosting fundraising events to volunteering at local community centers, LBYC has made a significant impact on the lives of those in need.

Commodore Scott Dixon greeted the crowd at the event.

“As the club celebrates its 95th anniversary,” he said, “it continues to uphold its values of sportsmanship, camaraderie and service to the community, setting a shining example for yacht clubs everywhere.

“Also, as one of the oldest yacht clubs in Southern California,” he added, “LBYC continues its long-standing tradition of hosting prestigious sailing events and regattas, attracting top sailors from around the world.”

It has also contributed to developing young sailors through its youth sailing programs. LBYC has a tradition of collecting toys and checks benefitting the children at the Stramski Children’s Development Center at MemorialCare Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach. For more than 20 years, members have brought donations to the wives of past commodores, a group known as the Sand Dollars, during the annual sell-out Christmas luncheon.

Creating a pathway to the water, LBYC members have generously donated, through the Long Beach Sailing Foundation, to supply a fleet of Soling sail boats on which people of all ages and walks of life are taught to sail. Annual STEM programs are open to schools and service organizations. The fleet of Catalina 37’s are used for the annual Heroes Regatta, hosting and coaching armed services and first responders. Teams are formed from each service branch and they race for the honor of the Heroes Cup. More than 250 participants, families and volunteers are treated to a day on the water and at the pool.

A Catalina 37 is dedicated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Long Beach, YMCA of Greater Long Beach and other organizations for 16 weeks during the summer. The youth are taught to sail and experience live racing outside the Alamitos Bay, off the shores of Long Beach. High School sailing teams are hosted by LBYC, offering scholarships for those in need.

Seen at the scene: Commodore Scott and Kendra Dixon, Vice Commodore Lisa Meier and Douglas Pye, Rear Commodore Robert and Paula Piercy, Fleet Captain and Long Beach Sailing Foundation Director Tom and Patricia Camp, Jr. Staff Commodore and Long Beach Sailing Foundation Director Blair Carty, Event Chairs Laura Utterbach and Cheri Bush, Jeff Hoffman, Bob Lane, LBYC Judges Advocate Shannon Gallagher, Stu and Paula Ledsam, Hon. Judith Meyer, Linda Rahn, Andrew Wittenberg, Debbi Alvarez, John Schuman, Warren Smitheran, Kelly Woodworth, Bob Snow, Liz Palmer, Josh Wootton, KC Coultrup, Joan Knight, Shirlee Bouch, Candice and Tom Nantais, Carolyn Steuber Powers, Lynne Pillsbury, Adele Stotler, Kay Berg, Sue Hood, Dave Hood, John Busch, and David Stotler
