Great View but Club is too cheap to turn on the air conditioning or heat as needed. Mediocre food. I have only been a guest several times, so I am not a member. Miss the Marina City Club Restaurant.

Located adjacent to Burton Chase Park in Marina del Rey, SMWYC.org offers some of the best sunset views you'll find of the marina. The drinks are stiff, the beer is cold. The lunch menu offers a variety of reasonably priced sandwiches and plates - my favorite is the 1941 burger cooked medium. Dinner menu varies based on chef's offerings. Double check the hours of operation for seasonal schedule changes.

Attended for a networking function, absolutely fabulous food and wine. Watch the sunset behind the harbor and the mountains in the distance while you enjoy all the atmosphere this place has to offer. If you are looking for a nice venue that isn't stuffy look no further. For all of you millennials out there: Instagram worthy!

I went for the first time on July 2, 2021. I liked the band. Venue is cozy and nice. Food and drinks were good...when I got them and that is my problem with this venue event. Service was very slow. Staff was overwhelmed by the amount of customers that were there. I saw 1 bartender, 1 manager and 1 server. I suppose they had cooks in the back but that was it. It took anywhere from10-20 minutes to go stand in line at the bar to get a drink. Food took 1 hour. I did enjoy the band. Staff was fast friendly and apologetic about the lack of speed which is why I won't give the the 1 star. I saw 4 people complain to the manager or staff. I'm sure there were more. I'm hoping this was a fluke and they do better in the future. If there is some who works that monitors this I would love to know why this venue was not adequately staffed?

The best yacht club in Marina del Rey! Why, you ask? LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!! It is unbelievably located directly adjacent to Burton Chase Park. This yacht club has membership at any level whether you own a boat or not. There is a fantastic second floor full bar and restaurant with live music and event space. Unbelievable food made by Chef Israel, a culinary genius. I recommend the Avocado Ice Cream!!! Very delicious, very unique. Tell them Kittysmack sent you and Danny will get your first round on me after you join as a member.

Best view in MdR, amazing food , live music on Sundays, great cocktails , just awesome!!!

This place is awesome! By far the best yacht club in Los Angeles. It's not a snooty overpriced restaurant that has a few boats sitting on the side. This is a place is great if you really want to sail and hang out with people that want to sail.

I had my wedding reception at Windjammers in late June. I was so happy with the experience. Israel was very attentive and accommodating. I had many questions for him, especially because I had to do most of the planning while in another state. I was happy. They even organized parking to make it easier for my guest. I highly recommend SMWYC if you are looking for a space to hold an event.

I wouldn't trust these lazy f's with my kid. Steve Potter the "volunteer" who will hold your cash and last second tell you the class is full and blame on covid operating regulations. What does that say about the others working there if they as lazy as Steve. For 2 weeks they had the opportunity to tell me the class was full. Steve is a lier and blamed the platform. I would have 0 trust working with windjammers.

Since 1941, Santa Monica Windjammers Yacht Club has been an established member-operated, family-focused, and sailing oriented private club in Marina Del Rey, CA. A lively club, SMWYC boasts a range of activities and benefits for all membership levels, including a robust junior sailing program, racing, food and beverage service, social gatherings, holiday parties, sailing lessons, and sailboat, kayak and paddle board fleets. 

A Membership Level for Everyone

Couples Flag

Includes membership for a full family along with use (upon certification) of the Small Boat Fleet for an additional $10 a month. In addition, this membership includes usage of our Paddling, Kayak and Bicycle Fleets. This membership class enjoys all rights and privileges, including holding office, serving as a Director, making full use of all Club facilities and racing under the Club's burgee.   

Individual Flag

Membership for an individual along with use (upon certification) of the Small Boat Fleet for an additional $10 a month. In addition, this membership includes usage of our Paddling, Kayak and Bicycle Fleets. This membership class enjoys all rights and privileges of Flag Membership but is limited to qualified individuals age twenty-one (21) or over who have no co-applicant indicated on their application.

Jr. Family Membership

For families with children who are active participants in the Junior Sailing Program. Families receive the benefits of membership, including member discounts on sail camps. Participation in the Small Boat Fleet is available for an additional charge.

This membership type is available for anyone who regularly participate in on-the-water activities, is a member or owner of a boat recognized by US Sailing, World Sailing, PHRF, Cruising Class or Fleet, subject to the approval of the Fleet Captain and Board of Directors. Participation in the Small Boat Fleet is available for an additional charge.

This membership class is available to qualified individuals between the ages of eighteen (18) years and thirty-five (35) years. Participation in the Small Boat Fleet is available for an additional charge.

First Responder

$360/annually. Billed Quarterly.

We love and support our military! This membership package is for our First Responders, Law Enforcement and all service members. Participation in the Small Boat Fleet is available for an additional charge.

For those individuals actively attending a University full time. Participation in the Small Boat Fleet is available for an additional charge..

$5/day, 7 day maximum.

If you are visiting, receive a day or week pass and access the numerous benefits. For families visiting the Los Angeles who reside outside of the County of Los Angeles. Participation in the Small Boat Fleet is available for an additional charge..

Please Note: If you sign up for a Membership class that does not include the usage of our Small Boat Fleet you are invited to change your membership anytime to either our all-inclusive Couples Flag or Individual Flag Membership class to reduce the administrative burden on office staff.

"A Different Type of Sailing Program"

Registration for 2024 Summer Sail Camp is open!

We look forward to another great summer of sailing.  With many of our favorite instructors returning and a bunch of newly implemented ideas that make learning to sail at all levels more fun.  Back for 2024 is the Second Week class for our youngest sailors, we've added a 4 day cruise to Catalina Island providing more time to explore remote parts of the island and a redefinition of Advanced sailing adventures.  Why mess with a good thing you ask?  We constantly push ourselves to make sailing at every level an adventure by re-examining how we run all of our classes and the results are ,more fun and faster progression.  Click on our Summer Sail Camp tab, pick your week(s) of fun and make your reservations.  We are looking forward to another epic summer of sailing!

Recap of the RS Tera North American Championship

The RS Tera North Americans was an epic event for SMWYC and our Juniors program.  Based upon the smiles and everything else we saw it was also fun for the competitors, parents and volunteers.  Teams from Colorado, Park City, Dana Point, Oceanside and Alamitos Bay arrived Friday and after getting them situated, we held about three hours of practice races and then had our own practice during Open Sailing.
