Stabilizer Service Completed
Hauled to service Stabilizers in April 2021. Removed both fins, replaced port stabilizer shaft. All internal bearings and seals replaced plus renewed linkages and hydraulic hoses completed a major overhaul to the whole system.
Anti-fouled vessel and replaced all Zinc’s and prop speed on all props.
Completed a full 20-year Lloyds survey by January 2021 so vessel is fully compliant with class. This survey included inspection and approvals after maintenance and compiling with surveyor demands and compliance in Structural/Mechanical/Tanks and Electrical systems etc.
During mechanical Lloyds survey it was required to completely remove gearboxes from main engines to do a full rebuild, which included new pinion gears bearings seals etc. this was an intense project with time frame allowed and the location of work completed within the engine room. This basically Zeroed the hours of the Gearboxes.
Complete repaint and clean of lower engine room bilge
Replaced all 6 Miele Machines in the laundry with New Miele washer and dryers

The captain of superyacht Berilda on finding a job that never feels like work.

“I’m from Ontario in Canada and my father is in the dinner-cruise business on the Great Lakes. I think he bought his first boat when I was about seven years old so I grew up around them and also learned a lot about customer service and hospitality from a young age. I’m 47 now and I’ve got a lot of years of being a captain behind me, more so than most of my contemporaries, as not many people get their first drive until they are 30. I got mine at 23.

I was pursuing a degree in naval architecture and marine engineering with the intention of designing superyachts when I started running a private charter boat for someone on a casual basis. It led to other similar jobs and eventually I got asked to go out to Italy and supervise a new build for one of my clients. I ended up dropping out of university and heading to Viareggio to do the job. I didn’t know much about the superyacht industry until that year but I realised it was a good career and quickly progressed through the ranks, running larger and larger boats.

Some of the people I worked for along the way have become really good friends and still are to this day. I’ve been on board Berilda since September and even though that’s a relatively short time for me, I already know that the owners are just lovely people. Currently, we are in the Caribbean and we’ll spend this coming summer in New England. When the owner retires in a year or so, we have plans to go down and do the South Pacific.

The last two yachts I worked on both belonged to retired owners, which is great as they tend to want to spend a lot of time on the boat. It opens up a lot more opportunities, as you’re not going from airport to airport; you can really go out and get lost until the provisions run out. The owners of one of my previous boats, Rena , are prime examples of that. We’d spend months at a time sailing. They became great friends, as we’d have dinner together every night. Even now, if we find ourselves in the same area, we’ll still meet up.

I’ve been to some really great places over the course of my career, but I do have my favourites. Tonga is one of them – it has three sort of separate areas. The northern group of islands is where all the bareboat charters are – but then there’s the middle section, which is very remote. There, you’ll find little villages and some of the best whale watching I’ve seen anywhere in my life. We could be sitting at anchor and at any given moment I could just look up and scan the horizon for 30 seconds and see a whale breaching.

Scotland is another favourite of mine. I took a 45m boat through the Caledonian Canal there. I love the pure, vast beauty of the place, with those sloping grass hills and mountains in the background. There’s a lot of culture, too. We toured around and I was even able to bottle some Scotch right out of the cask for my father, which was a nice gift to give him.

I also adore the Exumas in the Bahamas. I’ve been sailing all around the world but every time I come back there, I just kind of look at them and say, ‘wow, this is right in the backyard of Florida.’ I’ve also been lucky enough to have private dive guides in some pretty spectacular locations. It’s hard to compare anywhere with Indonesia and French Polynesia.

One of the most important things about being a yacht captain is figuring out what everybody needs from the experience – that goes for both the owner and the crew. Then you find a way to blend those two things.

I’ve witnessed a lot of family trips on superyachts and I think they are a great thing, particularly when the kids are in the teens. You have them captive for a week, but you’re also giving them fun things to do, so they’ve got stimulation, whether it’s jet skis, beach picnics, fishing – the list goes on. Everybody wins. The kids win because they’ve got a fantastic vacation and the parents win because they get to spend super quality time with their kids.

I still have a few places on my bucket list. I really would love to get into some high latitude cruising, so I’d like to make it to Antarctica and the Northwest Passage. But overall, I am pretty happy where I am. If you have a job that you love, you never need to go to work.”

How to write an NZ cover letter (with examples and templates)

Along with your CV, a cover letter is essential to any NZ job application. Let's get you started.

Using a cover letter template and examples are a great way to get started

Every New Zealand job application should include a cover letter.

This document is key to showing an employer you’re serious about their vacancy, and for demonstrating what you bring to the table . Despite its importance, many people aren’t sure how to write a cover letter – and their applications suffer as a result.

That’s why we’ve created this guide, giving you advice on everything from what to include, to how to lay it out.

We’ve also snuck in a few examples to make life even easier for you … aren’t we nice?

Cover letters vs. CVs: what’s the difference?

To understand the role cover letters play in job applications, it’s important to realise how they differ from CVs:

1. Purpose:

CVs give a broad picture of you as an applicant – providing details such as educational background and employment history . By contrast, a cover letter targets why you want this specific role, and how your skills and experience make you a great candidate.

While there will be areas of overlap as you select qualifications or abilities to draw out in your cover letter, it definitely should not be an elongated version of your CV.

An NZ cover letter should be no longer than one page, while CVs are usually between one and two.

The most obvious visual difference between these documents and CVs hinges around bullet points.

While your CV should be a bullet point bonanza, cover letters favour full sentences. That’s not to say you can’t have any bullets in a cover letter, just use them more sparingly.

It’s not always easy to know what to put in your cover letter.

You should include a cover letter with every job application.

What to include in a cover letter

1. your contact info, the date and the business’ address.

At the top of your cover letter should be:

Your full name, contact details and home address
The date you submit the application
The business’ postal address

It should look like this:

2. Your opener

People worry about how to start a cover letter , but there’s a simple formula and structure for getting this right:

Make it personal : start with ‘dear’, and address it to a person – i.e. the hiring manager. If their name isn’t in the job listing, try a good old fashioned stalk of the company website, or ring the business and find out. ‘To whom it may concern’ is a no go.

Make it clear : organisations often list multiple vacancies at a time, so make it obvious which position you’re applying for. A sentence like, ‘I’m writing to apply for the Marketing Assistant role, as advertised on Trade Me Jobs’, will do the trick.

Make it punchy : next, add a snappy one-liner summing up why you’re interested in the role and what you’d bring to their business. Remember, you can go into more detail in the interview itself. For example:

3. Why them

A common cover letter mistake is to only focus on yourself. Before choosing you, employers want to know why you’re choosing them. This helps sort candidates who are genuinely passionate about their organisation from those who are mass applying to anything and everything.

Warning : this section is not about inflating the hiring manager's ego by flattering the company – be positive, but be thoughtful.

Your cover letter should tell the hiring manager why you want to work there.

Now, it’s time to sell yourself.

This section of your cover letter is where you highlight your most relevant skills and experience.

You can draw on anything from previous work experience to certificates and qualifications. The important bit is linking whatever you mention to the job – simply listing skills is not the answer.

To do this effectively, you need to carefully study the job ad and identify what capabilities the employer values most. If your Trade Me Jobs Profile is up-to-date, you can then quickly skim your skills and experience to find those which most closely match the job description.

Top tip: the more detail you can give, the better. Helped raise sales? Great. Helped raise sales by 6%? Even better.

Use your cover letter to highlight core relevant skills.

If you want to add some extra skills or information to this section, a bullet point list is a good option. Note : only do this after introducing your headline examples in full sentence form, as above, and keep your list to three or four concise bullets.

5. Signing off

The end of your cover letter should (politely) prompt the reader to get in touch with you to arrange the next steps. Make sure you end on a high, and continue the energy from earlier in your closing sentence, for example:

Sign off your cover letter with a call to action.

How to format a cover letter

With your content sorted, it’s now about nailing the visuals. Cover letters are usually easier than CVs in this regard, as they’re laid out like a traditional letter. However, there are a few things to bear in mind:

What font should I use? Keep it simple, and the same as on your CV. If your font is hard to read, or too small, the letter will end up in the wrong pile.
How long should a cover letter be? New Zealand cover letters should be under one page long.
Should I use paragraphs? Would you read huge, unbroken chunks of text? We doubt it, so make sure to break up your cover letters into paragraphs.
What are the correct cover letter margins? Leave these at their default setting so your cover letter has plenty of blank space, and doesn’t look crowded.

All done? Not quite.

Perhaps the most important stage of cover letter writing is proofreading. After all that hard work, you don’t want a few silly typos or poor punctuation letting you down.

So check it yourself, then get someone else to have a look, then have a final glance.

Once you’re happy, it’s time to attach it to your application, and hit send.

Keep it succinct and relevant to the job you’re applying for. Your cover letter should not exceed five paragraphs.

Large superyachts visiting London, England on the river Thames are an exciting spectacle, but also a fantastic base to access events and the central parts of the city, making London a very interesting yacht charter prospect. There are also luxury yacht marinas and berths available with more currently being developed.

On such marina is the historic St Katharine Docks in central London which has berthage for 200 luxury yachts and historic barges. A haven of tranquillity and nestled in the heart of the City of London, St Katharine’s is directly adjacent to the iconic Tower Bridge and next to the Tower of London. The marina is home to visiting and local superyachts and also provides space for private and corporate events amongst the associated commercial buildings.

St Katharine Docks has a thousand years of dramatic history to its name, making it one of the most interesting marina histories in the world. King Edgar originally gifted 13 acres of land to 13 knights in 1125for trade. St Katharine’s docks have been used ever since throughout the ages for one purpose or another and then in 1825 construction began on the docks, laying down the framework for what you see today.

When visiting the UK with London on the itinerary, yachts also dock in the city of Southampton in south-west England. Many vessels drop anchor at Ocean Village Marina or Hamble Point Marina. Expect a coach or train journey time of around 1 hour 20 minutes from Southampton into South London.

London, the UK’s exciting capital city attracts visitors from around the world. Go shopping in Oxford Street, Regent Street as well as famous department stores like Harrods, Harvey Nichols or Selfridges. How about a night out at the theatre? Watch a play, musical, drama or ballet at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, the London Palladium or the Old Vic. There are many places to visit in London. It’s such a diverse city with some of the world’s best sights, attractions and activities.

See the city from above on the London Eye, meet a celeb at Madame Tussaud’s or examine the treasures at the British Museum. Sightseeing couldn’t be better. Check out the underwater creatures at Sea Life London or marvel at the strange objects in the Science Museum. There really is something for everyone in London and plenty to do to make up a luxury yacht charter itinerary.

Buy a day ticket for a London, red double-decker bus on-off tour. What a great vantage point to catch fantastic views of the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, St. Paul’s Cathedral and of course, Buckingham Palace. You’ll get a birds-eye view of London Bridge, Tower Bridge, Westminster Abbey and the Changing of the Guard. Spend an afternoon at London Zoo, home to more than 16,000 animals like tigers, hippos, and giraffes.

A little outside London is Kensington Palace, an intriguing Royal Palace that also houses an exhibition of Princess Diana’s dresses. Find out where Queen Victoria lived as a child and see the wonderful collection of paintings from the Royal Collection. To keep you in holiday mode, take a river cruise down the River Thames. Relax and enjoy the magnificent views as you sail past Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, Cleopatra’s Needle, The Shard and the London Eye Pier. Jerry Jones' yacht Bravo Eugenia on the water

109m superyacht Bravo Eugenia arrives in London

The 109-metre Oceanco superyacht Bravo Eugenia has arrived in London and berthed at Butler's Wharf Pier in Tower Bridge. According to BOATPro , the yacht began her journey to the UK capital when she departed from Lisbon approximately two weeks ago, which included a stopover in Rotterdam, the Netherlands last week.

Bravo Eugenia is famously owned by American businessman Jerry Jones, who also owns the American football team, Dallas Cowboys. Delivered in 2018, the motor yacht is christened after his wife, Eugenia Jones.

At 109 metres, Bravo Eugenia sits in the same size category as Lady Jorgia , Kaos and the newly delivered Renaissance (though the yacht doesn't quite qualify for the top 25 largest yachts in the world ).

The superyacht first hit the water in November 2018 sporting a slender, low-profile designed by Nuvolari Lenard . Jerry Jones has the inside of his yacht firmly shielded from the public eye, with interior photos hard to come by. But with a 16-metre beam to play with and British studio Reymond Langton Design at the helm, Bravo Eugenia 's interiors are surely impressive. Naval architecture is owed to Lateral Naval Architects .

Oceanco described Bravo Eugenia as "a prime example of [our] new wave of forward-thinking yachts”, being highly efficient in spite of her impressive length. Powered by a hybrid propulsion system, she can run on a "quiet electric mode" that allows her to consume 30 per cent less fuel than other yachts in her size class.

Bravo Eugenia is one of the largest yachts to visit London in recent times – her last sighting on the Thames was in January 2022.

While the charter guests who appear on Below Deck have a great time while filming the show, many aren't invited back for a number of reasons.

Some charter guests on Below Deck have caused unnecessary drama and won't likely return due to bad behavior.
Captain Glenn Shephard from Below Deck Sailing Yacht faced backlash from Barrie, who called him two-faced.
Former guest Dr. Francis Martinis will not return to Below Deck after he was arrested for faking prescriptions.

The Below Deck franchise has featured many charter guests since 2013, many of whom will never return . The Bravo series focuses on expensive charters with wealthy guests who have attitude problems and over-the-top demands. That includes Charter guest Alexis Bellino, who boarded Captain Lee Rosbach’s yacht with her boyfriend at the time, Andy Bohn. She was disrespectful and made everyone uncomfortable with her and Andy's PDA. She even insulted crew members after featuring on the show.

Like Alexis, Delores Flora from Below Deck season 8 was a terrible guest. Not only did she misbehave, but she also got drunk and s wam while intoxicated, which is not only not allowed, it frightened the crew members. Delores got kicked out of the yacht the next day. These guests created unnecessary drama on the boat and will likely never return like a few others from the franchise.

Barrie and Tony Drewitt Barlow had a decent time in the Below Deck Sailing Yacht seasons 2 and 3. Despite that, they left with a bitter taste because of Captain Glenn Shephard. In 2021, Barrie participated in a podcast, Pita Party: The Podcast , where he claimed that Captain Glenn bothered him while using his phone .

Barrie said, “he (Captain Glenn) was a two-face b*stard,” adding that he just didn’t like his presence.

7 Frank Fay

Below deck mediterranean.

In Below Deck Mediterranean season 7, Charter guest Frank Fay had a thing for second stew Kyle Viljoen. He pursued him on the yacht, but unfortunately, their relationship didn’t last. Frank will likely never return to the series as long as Captain Sandy Yawn allows Kyle to work for her. Even if Kyle quits, Frank wouldn’t want to be in an environment that would remind him of his failed relationship.

6 Erica Rose

Erica Rose appeared on Below Deck Sailing Yacht two seasons in a row. Erica was highly offensive toward the crew member, as well as her husband, Charles Sanders, and to make things worse, she left the crew with a measly tip , leading fans to slam her on social media. Ultimately, Erica had to apologize for her bad attitude but never returned to give the crew the tip they deserved. Nobody on Below Deck Sailing Yacht would ever want to return.

5 Justin Guarini

Justin Guarini’s time on Below Deck Sailing Yacht was not dramatic at all; however, he’ll probably never return to the series. Justin wouldn’t return because he wasn't the primary guest. He joined his friend, Kim, who wanted to enjoy a luxury yacht trip. It was more of a one-and-done deal. Secondly, nobody recognized him at all. Viewers later realized who he was and how he was the runner-up on American Idol season 1. Justin is a theatre artist and has made a name for himself. However, it was embarrassing that so many fans had no clue who he was .

4 johnny damon.

Johnny Damon’s time at Below Deck Med was full of explosive moments. Once, he sent the food back, citing that the experience wasn’t “five stars.” On another occasion, his wife, Michelle, created drama by yelling at the owner of another yacht . Overall, the experience was simply terrible on both sides. Crew members didn’t love Johnny and his wife, and the couple didn’t respect the crew members. It is unlikely that Captain Sandy would want to host the couple again as long as she’s in charge.

3 Krystal Murphy

Former charter guest Krystal Murphy boarded Captain Lee’s yacht with her friends. She immediately began showing red flags, drinking, and just being a menace. Krystal fought with her friend, Chelsea, creating unnecessary drama. She even passed out and punched a friend in the face. Former Chief Stew Kate Chastain disliked serving Krystal and called her a “spoiled brat;” she wanted to throw her off the yacht. Nowadays, Krystal has seemingly become a more private person. It doesn’t seem like Krystal would want to be on TV again.

2 Steve Bradley

Below Deck fans should remember Steve Bradley as he made many appearances on the show. In Below Deck season 3, he wanted a foam party and demanded the crew to figure it out and follow his commands, acting like a king. In Below Deck season 6, Steve made more outrageous requests. Apart from being a wild guest, Steve was entitled and acted inappropriately at times . No Below Deck captain would want to host him again as he didn't come off as very likable.

1 Dr. Francis Martinis

Dr. Francis Martinis from Below Deck Med and Below Deck Sailing Yacht has a zero chance of returning. While the former charter guest didn’t have too many issues on the show, his personal life issues will stop him from appearing on Bravo again. According to TMZ , Dr. Francis and his wife, Jessica, were arrested for filling out fake prescriptions in December 2023 . The couple used the names of Below Deck stars and got caught red-handed. The Below Deck franchise would never want to welcome felons, especially when their mugshots are all over the internet.
