INTERIOR Steps from the cockpit lead down into the main salon which is warm and welcoming thanks to the wood panelling and neutral soft furnishings. There is an L-shaped sofa around the dining table with additional stools and a soft to starboard creating additional seating.

The guest suites lead off the main salon and the galley and crew accommodation is aft.

Aria is built with a steel hull and steel superstructure. Powered by twin Caterpillar engines, she comfortably cruises at 9 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 14 knots with a range of up to 1,000 nautical miles from her 16,000 litre fuel tanks. Her low draft of 1.6m/5'3" makes her primed for accessing shallow areas and cruising close to the shorelines. An on board stabilization system ensures comfort when underway.

Set against the backdrop of your chosen cruising ground, you and your guests can enjoy fun on the water with the collection of water toys and accessories aboard Aria. Principle among these are waterskis that are hugely entertaining whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro. Also there is a (inflatable) kayak - a tranquil and relaxing way to pass the time. If that isn't enough Aria also features fishing equipment, scuba diving equipment, paddleboards and snorkelling equipment. Aria has a 4.3m/14'1" BWA Tender to transfer you from ship to shore.

Exiled Chinese tycoon Guo Wengui convicted in billion-dollar fraud scheme

Prosecutors said guo wengui and his business partner solicited more than $1 billion of investments in various entities and ventures through false statements and representations..

Guo Wengui, an exiled Chinese billionaire known for his criticism of the Chinese Communist Party and close ties with American conservatives, was convicted by a U.S. jury on Tuesday of defrauding his online followers of hundreds of millions of dollars.

Guo, who went by multiple aliases such as "Miles Kwok" and "Ho Wan Kwok," garnered a substantial online following through his  YouTube videos  in which he criticized the Chinese communist government. Federal prosecutors in Manhattan accused Guo of raising more than $1 billion by guaranteeing his thousands of followers that they would not lose money if they invested in his various business and cryptocurrency schemes.

Prosecutors said Guo used the money to fund his lavish lifestyle, such as purchasing a New Jersey mansion, a red Lamborghini and a yacht. Following a seven-week trial, Guo was convicted Tuesday of nine of 12 criminal counts he faced, including racketeering conspiracy and wire fraud.

He faces decades in prison, according to U.S. Attorney Damian Williams. U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres set his sentencing for Nov. 19.

"Miles Guo, an exiled Chinese businessman and purported billionaire, brazenly operated several interrelated fraud schemes, all designed to fleece his loyal followers out of their hard-earned money so that Guo could spend his days in his 50,000 square foot mansion, driving his $1 million Lamborghini, or lounging on his $37 million yacht," Williams said in a statement.

"Thousands of Guo’s online followers were victimized so that Guo could live of a life of excess," Williams added. "Today, Guo’s schemes have been put to an end."

$1 billion dollar fraud conspiracy lasted several years

Guo was arrested in March 2023 in New York after federal authorities accused him of operating a "sprawling and complex scheme" between 2018 and 2023, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York. He was initially charged with 12 criminal counts, including wire fraud, securities fraud, bank fraud, and money laundering.

Prosecutors said Guo, along with his business partner Kin Ming Je, solicited more than $1 billion of investments in various entities and ventures through false statements and representations. The scheme involved lying to victims about their investments and promising them "outsized returns" if they provided money to Guo's multiple entities, including GTV Media, the Himalaya Farm Alliance, G|CLUBS, and the Himalaya Exchange, according to prosecutors.

During the trial, prosecutor Juliana Murray said Guo used the illicit funds as his "personal piggy bank" to maintain his lavish lifestyle in the United States. During his closing argument last week, prosecutor Ryan Finkel played videos of Guo pitching investments, including several in which Guo stood on a yacht deck.

Guo and Je laundered the money to multiple bank accounts and made expensive purchases such as a 50,000 square foot New Jersey mansion, a custom Bugatti sports car for $4.4 million, a Ferrari worth $3.5 million, a $37 million luxury yacht and a $62,000 television, according to prosecutors. Guo also purchased furniture and decorative items, including Chinese and Persian rugs worth about $978,000.

Je, a dual citizen of Hong Kong and the United Kingdom, is still at large, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Je was charged 11 of the same charges as Guo but faces an additional 20 years maximum in prison for obstruction of justice.

Federal authorities also arrested and charged a co-conspirator of Guo and Je in March 2023. Yanping Wang, also known as "Yvette Wang," was charged with wire fraud, securities fraud, and money laundering, according to a complaint.

The business tycoon was once believed to be among the richest people in China, The Associated Press reported. Guo left China in late 2014 and came to the U.S. seeking asylum, accusing Chinese officials of corruption.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said Guo has resided in the United States since around 2015 and gained a large online following that "aligned with his purported policy objectives in China and who were also inclined to believe (Guo's) statements regarding investment and money-making opportunities." CNN reported that Guo had amassed his followers through livestreaming events.

In 2017, Guo's lawyer told The New York Times that the billionaire was seeking asylum because his criticism of Chinese officials made him "a political opponent of the Chinese regime." Guo's assets were seized by the governments of China and Hong Kong in 2017 during money laundering investigations, according to CNN.

Guo was also an ally of Steve Bannon, a one-time adviser to former President Donald Trump. During the trial, Finkel showed jurors Bannon promoting one of Guo's ventures at a news conference in 2018, Reuters reported.

Bannon was arrested in August 2020 on Guo's yacht in an unrelated fraud case and was later pardoned by Trump. He was then  convicted  in 2022 for defying a subpoena from the House committee that investigated the  Capitol attack on Jan. 6, 2021 .

Bannon began his four-month prison sentence earlier this month.

Ten Westchester County beaches shut down after 1.3 inches of rainfall in 24 hours

Ten Westchester County beaches have been shut down after 1.3 inches of rainfall in the past 24 hours, the county health department said.

Beach closings are based on the number of inches of rain on the watershed, the county health department website said. Heavy rains and storm water drain discharges can directly affect waters. "As a result, these waters may contain high levels of harmful bacteria that may cause illness after a heavy rain," the county said.

Affected are the following:

Mamaroneck : Harbor Island, Beach Point Club, Orienta Beach Club, and Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club

Rye : Coveleigh Club

New Rochelle : Hudson Park Beach, Davenport Club, Greentree Club, and Surf Club on the Sound

When will Westchester beaches reopen?

Based on county health department studies, heavy rainfall in the Mamaroneck River watershed can "greatly impact the quality of water in the Mamaroneck Harbor," according to the health department's website. "Echo Bay in New Rochelle is similarly affected, impacting Hudson Park Beach and Echo Bay Yacht Club.

Note that Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club will remain closed through Monday, when it will be resampled. The health department encouraged residents and visitors to visit t he county's website for beach closing and reopening updates.

Next week's forecast shows the highest chance of rain coming Tuesday and Wednesday with scattered thunderstorms.

Johnny Depp and Will Smith posed for photos on a superyacht this week as they headed to Tuscany for Andrea Bocelli ’s 30th anniversary concert series.

Both controversial actors have been announced as special guests among the star-studded lineup at the Teatro del Silenzio in Lajatico, Italy.

On Tuesday (16 July), Egyptian singer Ahmed Saad shared a photo of himself with Smith and Depp, captioning the post: “Great feeling to gather with friends. Thanks my friends for the lovely visit.”

Citing a source, People magazine reported that Smith and Depp are “together en route to the Andrea Bocelli concert they’re both performing at.”

Depp, who has spent the last two years working on a career comeback following his high-profile 2022 defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard , was revealed as one of Bocelli’s guests at the beginning of the month.

The legendary Italian tenor wrote on Instagram: “A disarmingly charming actor who has brought countless iconic characters to life on the big screen, this eclectic artist’s musical talents are equally intense: a bona fide rockstar loved and applauded everywhere.

“I fondly recall playing and singing with Johnny Depp when he visited my home in Tuscany,” he added. “We’re happy to announce that this unexpected pairing will perform once more – and this time in public, as his fans will be thrilled to hear. We want to thank Johnny for accepting our invitation: it will be a joy to welcome him to the Teatro del Silenzio stage.”

On July 12, the singer announced Smith’s guest appearance, writing: “It is one thing to cross paths fleetingly amidst spotlights and cameras, and quite another to be able to sit across from each other and savor the opportunity to chat and really get to know each other better. We’re thrilled that Will Smith will join our extraordinary adventure of the Teatro del Silenzio. It makes us proud to be able to host this pyrotechnic artist, acclaimed actor, producer and musician.”

Smith recently made his return to music with a Sean Paul collaboration, “Light ‘Em Up,” on the soundtrack for his latest film, Bad Boys: Ride or Die – his first music release in almost half a decade .

His reputation has been tarnished since he slapped comedian Chris Rock on stage at the 2022 Oscars, shortly before winning the award for Best Actor.

Bocelli’s three-day concert series, which celebrates the opera singer’s 30 years in music, is being held on July 15, 17 and 19.

The special event will be filmed and released in a documentary titled Andrea Bocelli 30: The Celebration , which will premiere later this fall.

Along with Depp and Smith, Bocelli will be joined by the likes of Ed Sheeran, Shania Twain, Jon Batiste, Russell Crowe, Sofia Vergara, David Foster, Christian Nodal, Sofia Carson, Laura Pausini, Tiziano Ferro, Zucchero, Giorgia, as well as his children, Matteo and Virginia.

Clarence Thomas' Yacht Trip to Russia Raises Questions

A letter from two Senate Democrats alleging that U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Clarence Thomas failed to disclose a yacht trip to Russia has raised questions about the Court's longest-serving member.

Senators Sheldon Whitehouse and Ron Wyden sent the letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland on July 3 accusing Thomas of failing to disclose gifts from billionaire Republican donor Harlan Crow and asking Garland to appoint a special counsel to investigate the matter.

Whitehouse is chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Federal Courts and Wyden serves as chairman of the Senate Finance Committee. The senators' list of "likely undisclosed gifts and income" from Crow and his affiliated companies to Thomas included a 2003 yacht trip to Russia and a private helicopter flight to a palace in St. Petersburg, the home town of Russian President Vladimir Putin .

The claims come as Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez announced on Wednesday that she had introduced articles of impeachment against Thomas and fellow conservative Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito .

In a move separate to the senators' letter, Ocasio-Cortez has accused Thomas and Alito of failing to disclose gifts and reimbursements and refusing to recuse themselves in cases in which they had conflicts of interest.

Thomas, the Court's most senior conservative, has been facing calls to resign for months—and efforts to impeach him—over his relationship with Crow and luxury trips he received from the billionaire GOP donor.

Newsweek has reached out to the Supreme Court via email for comment.

Commentators on social media site X, formerly Twitter , raised questions about Thomas' reported visit to Russia in posts on Wednesday.

"Clarence Thomas took secret unreported trips to Russia aboard a yacht and to one of Putin's palaces — in 2003," wrote lawyer and legal commentator Tristan Snell.

"That feels important somehow. Maybe — hear me out here — just maybe, we should launch a full and thorough investigation into Thomas and his Kremlin connection," Snell added.

Journalist and lawyer Seth Abramson wrote: "Clarence Thomas possibly meeting secretly with Kremlin officials in Russia and then committing felony Tax Fraud to cover it up is just another major breaking news story media has no time to cover because Biden cleared his throat a few extra times 12 days ago."

"America is screwed," Abramson added.

There was no suggestion in the senators' letter that Thomas met with any Russian officials during his visit to the country.

Olga Lautman, a senior fellow at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) highlighted a report from The Daily Beast on the senators' report.

"Hold on! WTH is a U.S. supreme court justice taking yacht trips and helicopter rides to Russia?" Lautman wrote on X .

"Before Kanye West went to Russia, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas did it on Harlan Crow's dime and took a lovely helicopter ride to the palace in Putin's hometown," wrote Grant Stern, executive editor of political organization Occupy Democrats .

"YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS STUFF UP!" Stern said.

In their letter to Garland, Whitehouse and Wyden argued that the evidence against Thomas "warrants criminal investigation." They also accuse him of never paying taxes on a more than $267,000 loan forgiven by another wealthy business owner, Anthony Welters.

"Appointment of a Special Counsel would serve the public interest," the Democrats wrote. "The public must have confidence that the judiciary and the Department of Justice execute their responsibilities fairly, impartially, and without respect to political expedience or partisan interests."
