News: Admiral Sells 66M GC Force Superyacht Project 'JAS'

In Build GC Force 66 Model Sold ​ The Italian Sea Group's brand Admiral Yachts has sold their in-build GC Force 66 model, currently known as Project 'JAS'. The superyacht is actually 65.9-meters and is expected to be delivered to her owner in 2023. As a result of being sold at this stage some design changes may be altered to accommodate the preferences of the owner. However, overall the design should mirror the renderings below. The design is a collaboration between Mark Berryman and Gian Marco Campino Design. The interior features styling by Mark Berryman.

The 1200 GT vessel is 65.9-meters long and has a beam of 10.6-meters with a 3-meter draft. Power is provided by a pair of CAT marine diesels. She should see a 15.5-knot top end with a range of 6,000 nautical miles at 10-knots from 120,000 LT fuel capacity. She is being fashioned from steel and aluminium and will rise 4 decks above the waterline. In terms of accommodation, the 66-meter vessel will sleep twelve (12) guests in six (6) cabins. The owner's suite is actually very secluded from the rest of the cabins, perched high and unusually on the sundeck making it very private. The area will feature a jacuzzi and a small touch-and-go helipad which can generally only be accessed from the owner's cabin. Tender storage is on the bow in two bow lockers on either side. This arrangement permits plenty of room for a beach club on the aft lower deck which can open up to the sea on three sides. Delivery of the GC Force 66 Project JAS can be expected in 2023. Jeff Bezos Is So Rich He Has A $100m ‘Support Yacht’ For His $700m Superyacht

This weekend, Jeff Bezos made a remarkable entrance into the harbour of Cannes aboard his new $700m megayacht. Spanning 417 feet, this vessel was accompanied by its support yacht, the Abeona, serving as a $100 million floating garage housing luxury cars, jet skis, and even a helicopter for Bezos’ fiancée.

It’s been a busy few weeks for  Jeff Bezos . Between wearing a  barely-there sheer polo  to the Miami GP, his  controversial $723m yacht  finally being seen  under sail for the first time , and construction pushing ahead for his new wife’s $270m mega-mansion , you’d be forgiven for thinking that the once world’s richest man — recently eclipsed by Bernard  Arnault  and  Elon Musk  — might want to take a few days off to decompress.

And that’s exactly what he’s done: arriving at the bustling Cote d’Azur this weekend, the Amazon founder floated into the harbour for some much-needed ‘me time’. However, what caught the eye of many onlookers was not his controversial but undeniably impressive $700m superyacht, but the rather more modest $100m companion craft that came along with him.

Named after the Maori term for “new beginnings,” Bezos’ controversial superyacht — the Koru —represents a more luxurious and opulent investment than any of us mere mortals could ever dream of. And yet, that hasn’t stopped him from keeping the Abeona — Koru’s 246-foot “ support yacht ” — on hand and stacked with all the toys a billionaire could need.

The largest support vessel ever built, the $100 million Abeona was launched in October of last year and is named after the Roman goddess of outward journeys. Stacked with supercars, motorbikes, smaller boats, and jet skis, the vessel’s raison d’etre is to accommodate Bezos’ fiancée — trained helicopter pilot Lauren Sanchez — as the Koru lacks its own landing pad.

This is far from being the first big spend that Bezos has made to accommodate his new boo, who made her own millions as an esteemed TV presenter and more recently as founder of ‘Black Ops Aviation’, the first female-owned aerial film and production company. Bezos’ $270m mega-mansion that is underway in Beverley Hills is also being developed with the aim of accommodating the soon-to-be-married couple.

We certainly don’t wish to imply that Sanchez is a demanding partner. In fact, the demand for similar support vessels is apparently soaring amongst the super-rich, who are always in need of additional space to store gadgets and guests alike. As well as hitting top speeds of 18 knots, the Abeona can comfortably accommodate four guests and an extensive crew of up to 37 members.

Sanchez may not be demanding but she’s certainly inspiring, at least in the eyes of her new beaux: in addition to the Koru’s Rolls Royce engines and array of sails, the ship’s bow features a polished wooden sculpture that, officially speaking, is intended to be reminiscent of a Roman goddess, but some have speculated bears a striking resemblance to Sanchez herself…

While details about the interior of Bezos’ staggering superyacht are as yet undisclosed, it isn’t hard to imagine to the kind of obscene luxury that must lay within its walls. With estimated annual running costs of over $30 million, it’s clear that as the Koru and its not-so-humble sidekick set sail, Bezos knows how to keep his extravagant dreams afloat while the rest of us are left treading water.

Man who grounded yacht in Palm Beach served time for Ferrari theft

The owner of a  72-foot-yacht beached early Wednesday in the North End of Palm Beach has a penchant for expensive toys.

But a review of court documents reveals Thomas Henry Baker hasn’t always paid for them.

In June 2009, Baker, pleaded guilty to knowingly selling two stolen high-end sports cars the previous year — a 1985 Ferrari Testarossa valued at $55,000 and  a 1996 Ferrari F50  with a market value of $729,000. The F50 theft was national news because an FBI agent crashed the car after it was recovered.

Baker, 63, of Belle Isle, south of Orlando, made news again last week when he was charged with boating under the influence. Palm Beach police said a trip with his girlfriend from the Bahamas ended when his $500,000 yacht, the Time Out, ran aground just south of the Palm Beach Inlet.  The yacht   remained there early Saturday evening.

It was Baker’s third alcohol-related arrest in just over two years and his second boating under the influence charge in the past month, records show.

As part of a plea deal in 2009 in U.S. District Court, Baker admitted he stole the Testarossa on July 15, 2003, from Gullwing MotorCars in Long, Island, N.Y., and stole the Ferrari F50 on Sept. 16 of that year from Algar Ferrari of Bryn Mawr, Penn.

Baker was living in Nicholasville, Ky., at the time. He admitted to hiding the cars he stole in storage units, altering their vehicle registration numbers and fraudulently acquiring titles for them. According to one victim, Baker hid the purloined Ferraris in a hangar at the Lexington Airport.

In September 2009, the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Kentucky, ordered Baker to reimburse his victims and pay a $250,000 fine and sentenced him to six months in prison for one felony count of sale or receipt of stolen vehicles.

Revelation ‘left me stunned’

According to the U.S. District Court records, in 2008, Dr. Jasbir Dhillon, a general surgeon, paid Baker $375,000 and gave him about $100,000 worth of “rare and exotic firearms” for the Ferrari F50. It was one of only 349 built, according to Sotheby’s.

Dhillon was working at a Kentucky hospital when a colleague of his wife’s introduced him to Baker.

In a Feb. 25, 2011, post to an online forum for car collectors, Dhillon described how he felt in 2008 when he learned that the Ferrari that Baker sold him was stolen and would be seized by the FBI.

“I cannot tell you how that moment felt … utter disbelief, shock … a knee-bending moment that left me stunned. I knew I had let my guard down and done a deal in a way that I never had before. And it stood to cost me several hundred thousand dollars,” Dhillon wrote.

Dhillon, however, managed to get a full refund before the FBI arrested Baker and seized the car.

“I could never imagined this fellow being capable of that … something so brazen. I just didn’t see it in him. But I suppose the desire to be something you are not just overwhelmed him,” Dhillon wrote.

While Dhillon got his money back, the F50 suffered a less fortunate end.

In May 2009, while reportedly moving the car from one storage site to another, an FBI agent lost control of the car and crashed it into a tree. The F50 was totaled.

In May 2008, Baker gave Karol Poulos the Testarossa to settle a $20,000 debt, records show. Later that month, she accepted a $2,000 deposit from a man to buy it. Federal agents ordered her to return it. Poulos is listed as a friend in the 2009 plea agreement but during Baker’s arrest in Palm Beach on Wednesday, Poulos told police she is Baker’s girlfriend.

More charges

In May 2014, Baker was arrested in Orange County on charges of driving under the influence and damaging property, records show. He later pleaded no contest to reckless driving.

Baker also was charged with boating under the influence on Aug. 14 in Brevard County, court records show. His arraignment in that case is scheduled for Sept. 19. According to records, Baker was charged after officers noticed a 70-foot yacht “operating carelessly” in Port Canaveral. Tests showed a blood alcohol content of 0.206, records show. The legal limit in Florida is 0.08. He also was cited for having an expired vessel registration.

Baker told Palm Beach police Wednesday that “his GPS misguided him to shallow waters near the coastline,” causing his yacht to run aground. Baker also said he had  “several Long Island Iced Teas” in the hours before Time Out hit shore around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Career questions

On the Palm Beach police report about Baker’s arrest Wednesday, Baker is listed as a retired federal air marshal. A Transportation Security Administration spokesman said agency records show no one matching Baker’s name and age has been an air marshal.

The TSA, however, did certify Baker as a federal flight deck officer in June 2007. That allowed Baker to carry a gun while piloting flights. The privilege was revoked in 2009 because of the thefts.

Baker’s Facebook page says he’s a former JetBlue pilot.

During his sentence in Kentucky, Baker was in custody from Monday mornings to Thursday mornings, but allowed to be released to work his scheduled flight from Lexington to Orlando, court records show. The custody deal was then amended in October 2009 to Mondays through Wednesdays at Baker’s request to accommodate the flight schedule. The change added two months to his sentence, according to records.

In recent years, Baker has chartered small groups to the Caribbean on the Time Out through his company, Blue Waters Enterprise.

With the ocean trying to enter at every possible opening, combined with the moisture produced within, there is a lot of attention to detail required to keep you dry.

Whatever your position onboard, if you are comfortable then you can concentrate on the task in hand a lot better than if your kit is causing some rubbing, or damp issues to the skin.

Even tacticians can get a little sweaty from driving and have been known to help out onboard in a crisis – yes honestly! – so a good offshore sailing jacket is essential kit for all, a your standard workaday sailing jacket just won’t cut it.

As the only line of defence and the seriousness of protecting the wearer against the worst of elements, the best offshore sailing jackets can be relatively expensive. But when it’s 4am and you are huddled on the rail with your hood up, waves washing over you, how much would you pay to be warm and dry?

So to avoid you setting up your own fully kitted up game of twister whilst someone points the garden hose at you, we have looked at what’s on the market and picked out what we believe to be the best offshore jackets available right now.

The hood and forward storm flap do a great deal to cut out the weather, but without removing all of your senses. The longer length of the jacket helps to stop the waves flowing up the jacket, but without hindering movement.

Even the cuffs of the sleeves are scalloped to match the curve of your knuckles, to avoid any hindrance of your grip when grinding, driving or trimming. Minimal signage leaves room for boat names and sponsor branding, which is a nice touch with teams in mind.

The smock boasts  a double entry chest pocket and Duraseal neck seal (a bit like a modern wetsuit material), which is waterproof, comfortable and great for those with latex allergies.

Musto have been designing some of the best offshore sailing jackets for a long time, and so there is a certain amount of reliability associated with one of the leading specialists in the field.

The MPX series uses the heavier and sturdier Gore-Tex cloth. Musto have been involved directly at the top level of offshore racing for a very long time and have leant lots from various top end ambassadors. The hood and storm spume guard can be sealed down in the nastiest of conditions for full protection.

Ample pockets mean room for the essentials (torch, strobe, personal EPRIB and knife) as well as lots of fun-sized chocolate snacks and empty wrappers! Luckily the flaps do a good job at keeping the waves out.

Some of the pockets are fleece-lined, which are great for cold hands on those crisp spring mornings when still waiting for the nice warm mug of tea. A nice big seat pad will also help keep you comfortable and dry when sat on the rail.

Heavily associated with ocean racing in recent years, Helly Hansen have certainly been making a push at the top end of the sport. Using their own waterproof system, Helly-Tech Professional, the jackets do seem waterproof and breathable – a must for all the best offshore sailing jackets.

The fluorescent hood boasts additional clear side panels to help your vision when you have fully enclosed yourself in your hood and have the waterproof face visor deployed.

Another nice feature are the rubber arm seals – to really stop water ingress up the sleeves. The Aegir Ocean jacket also has good length on the back of the jacket, which helps to stop the water rising.

The jacket also has a waist skirt, which also adds a barrier to any unexpected waves heading up your jacket. Helly Hansen are a supplier to the RNLI, so the kit is certainly good enough for the harshest conditions.

The smock version has a removable hood and collar to improve its versatility. Its latex neck seal will stop water coming down your neck. You also get a double-entry chest pocket and a waist-level zip, which aids ventilation and gives access to your salopette pockets.

The 35.39m/116'1" motor yacht 'Jasca' (ex. Tenacity) was built by Burger in the United States at their Manitowoc shipyard. Her interior is styled by design house Burger Design and she was completed in 2005. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Don O'Keeffe and she was last refitted in 2021.

Guest Accommodation

Jasca has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 8 guests in 4 suites. She is also capable of carrying up to 5 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Range & Performance

Built with a aluminium hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks, she benefits from a semi-displacement hull to provide exceptional seakeeping and impressive speeds. Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C-32) 1,650hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 16 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 19 knots with a range of up to 2,879 nautical miles from her 37,854 litre fuel tanks at 12 knots. Her low draft of 1.74m/5'9" makes her primed for accessing shallow areas and cruising close to the shorelines. Her water tanks store around 5,299 Litres of fresh water. She was built to ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) classification society rules.

The Introduction to Rostov

Rostov the great.

The guide proposes that every tourist will pay five rubles to get in. The keeper says he'll open it. You may feel like following the group to have a look on Rostov from high.

Around the white Kremlin walls, the whole town is made out of old stones. The streets are large, the walls imposing, and the ruins of ancient trading arcades let imagine how great and powerful was once Rostov Veliky.

When you get out of the Kremlin, if you walk along it to the back, you'll find paths through pretty gardens to the calm lake. On the grassy beach a little guy may propose you to rent a barge. For a couple of hours it can be nice to row to another more hidden beach, as the water is so inviting, or to the fairy tale monastery, on the shore to the right. There's also a seducing house, just on the shore where an artist and his mother made a little enamel museum upstairs and arranged half of the basement in a cozy apartment for people.

After eating a nice bliny (pancakes), seeping a sweet home-made medovukha (honey alcohol), you might feel like the people you meet: smiley and relaxed. Here they seem to have nothing to fight against, they have nature very close, and they can easily get out of their village, with any direct train to Moscow. So Rostov is a nice green town made out of old white stones very close to a deep blue lake.
