Recruitment

Do you enjoy to fixing things and taking pride in your engine room and your ship? Are you a self-starter who prefers working independently rather than under tight supervision? Is a month-on, month-off schedule and good pay with no constraints on maintenance spend, appealing to you? Working on expedition dive boats is not for everybody, but it could be perfect for you if you enjoy adventure, visiting some really cool places, and being out on the water in zodiac inflatables with guests having the time of their lives. Bonus if you are a diver.

Are you someone who likes to have fun, works hard, and takes pride in knowing that your guests just had one of the best trips of their lives? Will you buy into our relentless focus on safety and process? Would you like to be part of a team that almost becomes like family, without any of the politics or backbiting common on some boats? Do you desire a fixed schedule of a month on and a month off? The pay we offer is among the best on any dive boat anywhere, and tips can be quite awesome and always appreciated. At Nautilus, we are focused on delivering excellence in guest experience. Our focus includes interactions with some of the most charismatic animals on the planet, such as giant mantas, super-friendly dolphins, whale sharks, schooling hammerheads, and nine other species of sharks. You can also experience the sight of giant schools of mobula rays, orcas, the Mexico sardine run, marlin, and much more. If you are interested in working in Baja Mexico and Costa Rica and want to contribute to our team, submit your application today.

Diving with sharks and giant mantas. Swimming with orcas and whale sharks. Working in a diving paradise in shorts and a t-shirt. Does a captain or mate position get any better than this? We are recruiting for a super professional liveaboard dive boat captain and mate. We work really hard, holding ourselves to the highest safety standards. The days are long, but our team is scheduled month on/month off, except for those who prefer 2/1. Interested? Give us a ring! STCW II/2 with GOC and enthusiasm for diving are required.

Nautilus Liveaboards Crew

While we encourage our deckhands, hosties, and dive guides to upgrade to STCW, we also offer direct entry mate positions as chief officer. Leadership ability is important, and professionalism along with a focus on safety and processes are a must. You need to be the captain’s 2ic, whether it’s leading the deck team, standing night watch, or helping fill tanks. It’s even better if you have a strong desire to become a captain with us.

DIVE GUIDES

yacht jobs mexico

We don’t care how many dives you have. What matters most is your attitude and your fit with our culture of cheerfully working as long as it takes to give our guests the time of their lives while keeping everyone safe. Experienced and mature dive guides have found a long-term home here. Young individuals with 250 dives have worked super hard with us and are on their way to their mate’s tickets.

Hostess Job 2023

Join us for some amazing adventure at sea in Baja, Mexico, some laughs and the opportunity to meet some really nice people. Experience the joy of interacting with some of the most spectacular animals in the ocean and the most remote beautiful scenery in the world. We are recruiting direct-entry senior hosties (stewards) with a strong service experience and a proven ability to get the job done. This is different from working on a yacht. It’s about looking after guests who are visiting your home and making sure they have a great time. Great pay and a flexible month-on, month-off schedule.

Seasonal Jobs in Mexico

Cancun beach

Mexico is one of the most appealing destinations in the world which attracts millions of international tourists every year. If you like the idea of working in Mexico, there are lots of opportunities for foreigners and English speakers. Search temporary, summer and year round jobs in places like Cancun and Mexico City.

Mexico Facts

• Population: 123,166,749 • GDP: $2.31 Trillion • GDP / Capita: $18,900 • Capital City: Mexico City • Dialing Code: +52 • Currency: Mexican peso

Top Reasons to Move to Mexico

If you have the right attitude and are open to different cultures and norms, then Mexico could be the perfect destination for you. Benefits of moving here include:

• Unique culture and friendly people • Learn Spanish or improve your language skills • Choice of destinations from ancient cities to beautiful tourist resorts • Cheap cost of living especially compared to the United States • High salaries compared to other countries nearby like Belize , Guatemala and Cuba • Mexico does have a reputation for being dangerous, but in the main tourist destinations it is very safe to live and travel • When working here you’ll get to sample the cultural highlights and also the excellent beaches. There are many, many beaches which are more popular among the locals than the foreign tourists, throughout the coasts.

Popular Places to Work

The larger cities and tourism hotspots are the best places to find employment, including:

• Cancun • Playa del Carmen • Mexico City

Other popular tourism destinations are also recommended for finding employment for foreigners like Acapulco, Tulum, Zihuatanejo, Cozumel, Ixtapa and Guanajuato.

Types of Positions

Tourism The travel and tourism industry employs thousands of people, from hotels, hostels, hospitality, resorts, activity instructors e.g. yoga and scuba diving, tour guides and more. You can find jobs online with large international hotel brands where hire thousands of staff each year.

Teaching English Popular with gap years and backpacking, or people looking for an easy way to live overseas, take a TEFL certification and teach in Mexico. There are language schools throughout the country hiring foreigners.

Voluntary work Although generally unpaid, there are so many rewarding volunteer abroad programs available to help communities, wildlife and conservation efforts. Popular projects include working with marine animals, building houses or contributing to environmental protection. Some backpackers also do cultural exchanges for example working in hostels in exchange for free accommodation.

Remote Work Find a job online or freelance and you can work anywhere in the country.

Jobs in Cancun

Cancun is also located on the Yucatan Peninsula, in the state of Quintana Roo, and is considered to be in direct competition with Acapulco in terms of drawing in the international crowd. While the city center of Cancun is located on the mainland, the Hotel Zone where most tourists stay is located on a separate island connected through bridges to the mainland, and this is where most jobs are found.

The facilities of the Hotel Zone cater more to the international crowd of holiday goers, so the local flavors are all concentrated on the central part of the city on the mainland. Some recruiters offer positions with accommodation included.

Benefits of working in Cancun as well as the beaches, warm weather and lifestyle, there are also some ruins of the pre-Columbian Maya civilization in Cancun. A small one called Ruinas El Rey is found in the Hotel Zone while a bigger ruin called El Meco is found just on the outskirts of the city – both are worth visiting.

Jobs in Playa Del Carmen

Are you looking for a location to kick back and relax then this Mexican coastal resort town is for you. It’s down the road from Cancun, but Playa offers a much richer experience in our opinion. Enjoy a healthy work/life balance, mix a job with relaxing with a refreshing cocktail on a beachside bar, snorkelling amongst coral reefs and picking up a spot of shopping along the main strip.

Men's NCAA Tournament 2024: 10 bold predictions for March Madness

All No. 1 seeds going to the Final Four? No Cinderella runs?

What's the fun in that?

The NCAA men's tournament is all about chaos and unpredictability. There are sure to be upsets And if there was one lesson to learn from last season's edition, it's that nothing is guaranteed and anything can happen. We saw at the second No. 16 seed win over No. 1 seed in tournament history and no No. 1 seeds made it to the Elite Eight. These predictions may sound crazy − and it's very unlikely they all are correct − but with the unexpected nature of the tournament, who's to say they can't happen?

From NFL plays to college sports scores, all the top sports news you need to know every day.

Here are bold predictions that you can − or don't have to − use to help fill our your bracket:

1. Purdue falters again, Matt Painter is out of a job

Matt Painter has had great success in his 19 season at Purdue, but the one thing he hasn't been able to achieve is getting to the Final Four. After last year's embarrassing loss to No. 16 seed Fairleigh Dickinson , the Boilermakers need to make it to State Farm Stadium for any redemption. But even with another loaded roster, Purdue once again falls short of making its first Final Four since 1980, and the disappointment mixed with the departure of Zach Edey leads to the school deciding to look for another coach to finally get them over the hump.

2. Kansas gets bounced in the first round

It's been nearly 20 years since Bill Self and Kansas didn't win at least one tournament game, but the Jayhawks will be one-and-done this time around.

The preseason No. 1 team limped to the end of the regular season as they dealt with injuries, losing four of their last five including a 20-point loss to Cincinnati in the Big 12 tournament. If Kansas wants any success this tournament, it needs Kevin McCullar Jr. and Hunter Dickinson back and healthy . But whether they do or don't play, the funk the Jayhawks are in continues. Samford is one of the best scoring teams in the country, and it gets its first tournament win in program history by bouncing the Jayhawks.

BREAKDOWNS: East Region  |  Midwest Region  |  South Region  |  West Region

EXPERT PICKS: Prediction that will help you fill out your bracket and win your pool

3. Multiple double-digit seeded teams make Sweet 16

Last season, No. 15 seed Princeton was the only double-digit seed to make the Sweet 16, but this year there will be more than that make it to the second weekend There are several great candidates that are primed to make some upsets happen, including New Mexico, James Madison, McNeese State and Oregon, all teams that had to win their conference tournaments just to make the field. Don't expect it to be all chalk in the Sweet 16, and with some squads pulling off two upsets in the first weekend.

4. All six Mountain West teams make the second round

The Mountain West barely got six teams into the NCAA Tournament, with two of them having to play in the First Four. Still, it feels like the conference isn't getting enough respect nationally even with San Diego State's national championship game appearance last season. After the Aztecs were the only team to get out of the first round last season, all six Mountain West teams make it to the round of 32, flexing its muscle at every conference.

5. Record for most points scored in NCAA Tournament game gets broken

When Loyola Marymount beat Michigan 149-115 in 1990 for a combined 264 total points, few probably thought that number could be broken. But there is a real good chance that record gets broken if Alabama and Arizona meet in the Elite Eight of the West region. Alabama leads Division I with 90.8 points per game and Arizona is third with 87.9. Even better, the Crimson Tide have the sixth worst scoring defense with 81.1 points given up per game, and the Wildcats aren't that great either with their 72.2 points given up per game ranking 190th. If these two get on the court together, it'll look like the NBA All-Star Game with points coming left and right to break the record for most combined points in an NCAA Tournament game.

6. We get a first-time Final Four team

Three teams made their first Final Four last season, and while there won't be as many this time around, at least one team will get to experience the Final Four for the first time in Arizona. There are several great candidates to do so, most notably ranging from Alabama, Tennessee , Brigham Young, Saint Mary's and Creighton. Don't be all surprised if we get two first time Final Four squads either.

7. Even with eight teams, SEC gets shutout of Final Four

Forget what was just said about Alabama and Tennessee. After tying with the Big 12 for the most teams in the tournament with eight, the SEC once again fails to get anyone in the Final Four, with it not getting a team in since 2019. It should get a good amount of teams that get close, but high seeds like the Crimson Tide, Volunteers and Kentucky fall just short of making it to State Farm Stadium.

8. Final Four team picks up player in transfer portal during tournament

Before any tournament games kicked off, the transfer portal opened with hundreds of playing deciding to take their talents elsewhere for the 2024-25 season. With how chaotic the process has gotten and players shopping around of where they want to play, a team that makes the Final Four becomes a popular choice. Whoever that team is, they get at least one big time transfer that makes them an immediate title favorite for next season the moment "One Shining Moment" caps off this year's tournament.

9. The Pac-12 gets one last Final Four team

This is the last year of the Pac-12, and just like how it was able to do in football, it gets one team in the Final Four as its last hoorah. The "Conference of Champions" has good candidates deliver its sendoff, most notably with an Arizona team capable of beating down any team and Washington State, who has proven it can beat highly talent teams. Colorado can go from First Four to Final Four like UCLA in 2021, and Dana Altman has his Oregon team playing high level basketball on its run to the NCAA tournament. So when it comes time for the Final Four, the Pac-12 can get celebrated one last time before it ceases to exist as we know it.

10. Connecticut wins every game in double-digits en route to back-to-back national championships

It sounds boring and obvious to pick Connecticut to repeat as national champions, but they have the looks of the 2006-07 Florida team that was destined to win back-to-back titles. Since then, no previous champion has been able to do what the Gators did, but the Huskies have all the looks of a team that can dominate its way to another championship. No matter who it faces, Connecticut rolls by every team it plays as it hoists the national championship trophy for the second-straight season, and put itself in consideration for one of the best NCAA Tournament teams ever.

What Trump said about a ‘bloodbath’ and Biden’s actions on the car industry, in context

Politicians, pundits and social media users have debated Trump’s ‘bloodbath’ remark in the days following his speech in Ohio.

yacht jobs mexico

The word du jour in the 2024 presidential campaign is “bloodbath” — specifically, what former President Donald Trump did or didn’t mean when he used the term at a March 16 Ohio rally.

President Joe Biden’s campaign team plucked a  nine-second clip of Trump saying , “If I don’t get elected, it’s gonna be a bloodbath for the whole, that’s going to be the least of it. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country, that’ll be the least of it” and framed it as violent rhetoric.

The Biden campaign  posted March 16 on X : “Donald Trump said there would be a ‘bloodbath’ if he wasn’t elected and that if he lost there would be no more elections.” The next day, Biden’s account shared on X the “bloodbath” clip and  wrote,  “It’s clear this guy wants another January 6.”

Without context, some voters could assume that Trump’s “bloodbath” remarks were predicting violence by his supporters should he lose at the polls. On Truth Social,  Trump responded  March 18 that the media and Democrats “pretended to be shocked at my use of the word BLOODBATH, even though they fully understood that I was simply referring to imports” allowed by Biden “which are killing the automobile industry.”

Politicians,   pundits  and  social media users debated Trump’s “bloodbath” remark in the days following the speech. Some major news outlets including  The New York Times ,  ABC and  The Associated Press  wrote that Trump warned of a “bloodbath” in headlines without the auto industry context. Although the text of the articles explained the context, when headlines alone are shared on social media, it doesn’t tell the full story.

The Biden campaign told PolitiFact the term needed to be considered alongside Trump’s other rhetoric in this speech, pointing to Trump’s comments about people imprisoned after the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack. More than  1,350 defendants have been charged in the attack , including hundreds for assaulting police officers or using deadly weapons. Trump called them “hostages,” even though they are being given due process — something that former Vice President Mike Pence and former Trump aide Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., also pointed out in March 17  Sunday shows .

Given the focus on Trump’s rally, we wanted to provide full context for the “bloodbath” remark as well as his comments about not having elections if he loses and the Jan. 6 defendants.

Trump spoke for more than 90 minutes in Vandalia, Ohio, days before the state’s March 19 U.S. Senate primary. Trump endorsed businessman Bernie Moreno in the Republican contest.

About 28 minutes into the speech, Trump talked about Biden’s plans for electric vehicles harming the U.S. auto industry. The Biden administration has  set a goal  to have electric vehicles comprise half of all new vehicle sales by 2030 and  offered significant aid  to the U.S. auto sector to keep it competitive in the electric vehicle marketplace. Recent  news   reports , based on unnamed sources, have said Biden is poised to relax elements of his plan.

The relevant portion of Trump’s remarks ( around minute 33 in this video)  started with a critique of the United Auto Workers union, which endorsed Biden in this year’s election:

But if you look at the United Auto Workers, what they’ve done to their people is horrible. They want to do this all-electric nonsense where the cars don’t go far. They cost too much. And they’re all made in China. And the head of the United Auto Workers never probably shook hands with a Republican before they’re destroying — you know, Mexico has taken, over a period of 30 years, 34% of the automobile manufacturing business in our country, think of it, went to Mexico. China now is building a couple of massive plants, where they’re going to build the cars in Mexico and … they think that they’re going to sell those cars into the United States with no tax at the border. Let me tell you something to China. If you’re listening, President Xi, and you and I are friends, but he understands the way I deal, those big, monster car manufacturing plants that you’re building in Mexico right now, and you think you’re going to get that, you’re going to not hire Americans, and you’re going to sell the cars to us, no. We’re going to put a 100% tariff on every single car that comes across the line, and you’re not going to be able to sell those cars. If I get elected. Now, if I don’t get elected, it’s gonna be a bloodbath for the whole, that’s going to be the least of it. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country. That’ll be the least of it. But they’re not gonna sell those cars.

Trump went on to talk about cars being manufactured in Mexico and his promise to institute “100% tariffs” on cars manufactured outside the United States.

About 20 minutes later,  Trump turned his comments  to stopping “Joe Biden and his thugs.”

“We’re the only ones, and they know this, that could stop them. We’re the only ones, there’s nobody else around. If this election, if this election isn’t won, I’m not sure that you’ll ever have another election in this country. Does that make sense? I don’t think you’re going to have another election in this country if we don’t win this election. I don’t think you’re going to have another election or certainly not an election that’s meaningful.”

Along with his warnings about elections, Trump also repeated his support for the Jan. 6 defendants, a signature talking point at his rallies.

Before Trump spoke at the Ohio rally,  an announcer said , “Please rise for the horribly and unfairly treated January 6 hostages.” The crowd then heard a recording of the “The Star Spangled Banner” performed by the J6 Prison Choir, men jailed for their actions during the Capitol riot.

Trump saluted and then  said  at the rally, “Thank you very much, and you see the spirit from the hostages and that’s what they are as hostages. They’ve been treated terribly and very unfairly and you know that and everybody knows that. And we’re going to be working on that soon. The first day we get into office we are going to save our country and we are going to work with the people to treat those unbelievable patriots, and they were unbelievable patriots and are.”

Supreme Court turns away 'Cowboys for Trump' co-founder ousted from office over Jan. 6

WASHINGTON — The legal argument that worked for President Donald Trump failed to deliver for one of his supporters Monday as the Supreme Court turned away a New Mexico man who was kicked out of local office over his role in the events of Jan. 6.

Couy Griffin, a founder of Cowboys for Trump, was criminally convicted over his role in the Jan. 6 riot and lost his job as a county commissioner as a result.

The lawsuit brought against him by New Mexico residents cited the same constitutional provision that Trump successfully argued in a separate case could not be used to throw him off the ballot in Colorado.

Both cases concerned Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which says that those who previously took an oath to the Constitution while holding a government position but later “engaged in insurrection” cannot hold office.

Griffin had been hoping that a victory for Trump could help him, as well.

But when the Supreme Court ruled for Trump in that case March 4, it made it clear that the ruling applied only to those running for federal office.

"We conclude that states may disqualify persons holding or attempting to hold state office. But states have no power under the Constitution to enforce Section 3 with respect to federal offices, especially the presidency," the court said.

As a result, Griffin's case was effectively resolved. The court rejected his appeal Monday without comment.

Couy Griffin speaks to supporters during a gun rights rally in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Sept. 12, 2023.

"Very disappointed. I don’t even know what to say," Griffin said on X . "But I thank you for your prayers and for standing with me through this."

The lawsuit seeking to throw Griffin out of office was brought by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, the group that filed the Trump ballot lawsuit.

The Supreme Court's actions in the two cases make it clear that "it is up to the states to fulfill their duty under Section 3 to remove from office anyone who broke their oath by participating in the January 6 insurrection," Noah Bookbinder, the group's president, said in a statement Monday.

A state judge  removed Griffin  from his position as a commissioner in Otero County, New Mexico, in September 2022 after concluding that his actions on Jan. 6, 2021, made him ineligible to serve.

Earlier that year, Griffin was  convicted  of illegally entering the Capitol grounds, although he was acquitted of engaging in disorderly conduct during chaotic scenes in which Trump supporters attempted to prevent Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s election win.

Section 3, enacted after the Civil War, prevents anyone who previously took an oath to defend the Constitution from holding various government offices. It was passed to prevent former Confederates from returning to government but has rarely been enforced.
