FAITH Yacht – Impeccable $200 M Superyacht

Delivered in 2017, FAITH yacht has a length of 96.55 meters (316.77 ft) and is currently ranked 59th on the list of largest yachts in the world.

She was built by the Dutch shipyard Feadship , which is a leading builder of high-end customised luxury yachts. FAITH was voted the best motor yacht in the world in 2018.

The mega yacht FAITH was designed by Redman Whiteley Dixon (RWD), a British design firm in collaboration with Chahan Interior Design, another well-known name in yachts and real estate design. Up to 18 guests can be accommodated in nine luxurious state-of-the-art suites in addition to a crew of 32. The private owner’s deck has an indoor and outdoor fireplace and a large lounge with a home theatre.

All other guest cabins are located on the main deck with two VIP suites and four spacious double cabins.

FAITH also features a beach club, a fitness room on the sundeck, an indoor and outdoor cinema, a wine cellar, a beautiful wellness area, and an elevator between the main decks.

The 96.55 meters (316.77 ft) long superyacht FAITH has a beam of 14.5 meters (47.57 ft) and a volume of just under 3,000 tons.

With her two MTU diesel engines, FAITH reaches top speeds of 17 knots and an average cruising speed of 15 knots, allowing her to reach destinations up to 5,000 nautical miles away. Currently, FAITH sails under the flag of the Cayman Islands.

The exterior of FAITH is all-white with a sleek and modern design. The yacht includes a wood-fired pizza oven, a charcoal grill on the sundeck, a helipad, as well as a large 9×4 meter swimming pool with a glass bottom and waterfall.

There are also two 10-meter tenders and a water ski boat along with plenty of toys, such as a flyboard, a slide, jet skis, sea bobs, kayaks, and many more to entertain guests.

FAITH yacht price

Lawrence Stroll is believed to have paid a price of US $200 million for FAITH. The annual running costs amount to US $15 to 20 million dollars depending on use.

FAITH is currently not for sale, however, she is available for charter on a weekly basis.

Depending on the season, weekly charter costs range from US $1.2 million to $1.5 million, not including any additional charges.

While some might consider this a downgrade in terms of size, it is important to note that 80 meters offers a heightened level of convenience and versatility when it comes to exploring various yachting destinations.

By opting for this size, Lawrence Stroll ensures that his new yacht can navigate a wide range of captivating locations with ease, providing an extraordinary yachting experience for himself and his guests.

The 96.55-metre Feadship superyacht Vertigo has been renamed to “ FAITH “. She was recently spotted in Antibes , already with the new name.

Motor yacht Faith was designed by Redman Whiteley Dixon , who also took care of her superb interior design. Feadship De Voogt were responsible for her naval architecture. This imposing four-deck superyacht features a steel hull and aluminium superstructure.

At almost 97 metres and with a beam of 14.50 metres Faith offers plentiful living spaces. Interior styling of Faith is a work of design studio Chahan Design , who created some outstanding features, such as a stunning staircase and a fireplace. Luxury accommodation onboard is offered for 18 guests and 32 crew. There is a deluxe master suite with an 180-degree view and skylight above the bed, two VIP cabins and four guest cabins.

The impressive size of Faith provides not only a helipad but also a sheltered helicopter storage. Faith’s large swimming pool with a waterfall and an enormous beach deck add to a truly luxury experience that Faith provides to all her guests.

Inside Lawrence Stroll’s $282 Million Superyacht ‘Faith’

If you’re a billionaire and you don’t own a superyacht, there’s a reasonable case to be made that you’re not enjoying your money as much as you could be. Fortunately, there’s virtually zero doubt that Lawrence Stroll is enjoying his wealth to its absolute fullest, as the owner of the Faith superyacht that was recently spotted by Boss Hunting’s very own James Want at the Monaco F1 Grand Prix.

As the National Post noticed, this year’s Monaco F1 Grand Prix had a noticeably smaller contingent of superyacht owners, thanks mostly to the international sanctions on Russia’s wealthiest citizens that have seen billions of dollars of assets seized by various governments around the world. This meant Lawrence Stroll’s Faith was one of the largest superyachts in town on race day, with a length of nearly 97m and enough space for a dozen of Stroll’s nearest and dearest.

As you’d expect from a vessel worth an estimated US$200 million (AU$281,792,000), Faith offers a large lounge area complete with a toasty fireplace, private movie theatre, gym, 9-meter swimming pool, spa and plunge pool, as well as several bar areas to enjoy a spritz in the sun. If that sounded a little too pedestrian for your taste, the superyacht also has a Flyboard (you know, the waterjet powered hoverboard), several jet skis, kayaks, wakeboards and even a couple of water slides.

While the Faith is owned by Stroll, it’s also available for private charter via Yacht Charter Fleet. For a week on the Faith, you can expect to pay approximately US$1,395,500 (AU$1,965,963), with summer season hotspots including the Amalfi Coast, Corsica, French Riviera, and Sardinia, while popular winter season anchor drops are around the Caribbean.

The 96.5m (317') Feadship yacht FAITH  is now a  superyacht for charter and will be available for luxury vacations across the Mediterranean this summer 2020.

With her state-of-the-art selection of amenities, highly-trained crew and unmistakable Feadship pedigree, superyacht FAITH is now one of the word's most well-equipped luxury yachts for charter. 

Stand-out on-board features include a 9m x 3.6m glass-bottomed swimming pool which forms the ceiling of the beach club below,  and a huge games deck with facilities for football, tennis, volleyball, paddle tennis, basketball and golf. 

She is the dream yacht for any type of superyacht vacation, with accommodation for up to 12 guests in seven cabins which includes a high-volume Owner's deck with skylight and fireplace. 

Her dedicated and professional crew of 32 have been cherry-picked by the Owner to ensure five-star service, and this crew includes three on-board chefs who are each trained in different disciplines, offering a dining experience unmatched by other yacht in the charter fleet.

Meals can be enjoyed at one of numerous alfresco and interior dining arrangements, and a spacious galley, wood fired pizza oven and charcoal BBQ promise a sensational culinary experience on board.

About Faith

How Tom West Built A Pirate-Proof Yacht

The 30-ton vessel, Faith , is armored to keep out unwanted guests.

Tom West has tackled some impressive builds over the years, including telescopes, a sawmill, and his house in Poland, Indiana. But West, a retired teacher, recently completed his swan song: a 30-ton, 56-foot-long sailboat named Faith . The one-mast vessel is longer than a double-decker bus, outfitted with wind turbines, and armored with a hull and cabin doors made from steel to thwart pirates on global voyages. “Everything you see, we did,” West says, standing next to the craft in his yard. “This all started out in pieces—the whole damned boat.”

West had little sailing experience, let alone boat-building know-how, before deciding to construct a huge ship in a landlocked farm town. He’d simply seen a lot of sailboats on a Hawaiian vacation and wanted to make one big enough to live on. West eventually settled on plans for a Bruce Roberts 532 vessel—a design sometimes used for charter boats—and refined them into his dream.

Most recreational cruisers are fiberglass boats measuring 26 to 40 feet long. Faith dwarfs these. It has two bathrooms, a full kitchen, lounging and dining areas, and room to sleep 12 people. A door with a ¼-inch-thick steel core protects the master cabin, which has the only access to the rudder controls, should pirates attempt a raid.

Building Faith took West, his wife, Martha, her brother Lloyd, and Tom’s late brother, Frank, five years—three more than they’d anticipated. They started work in West’s front-yard tennis court (another one of his custom creations). Using a plasma torch, the team welded steel beams together over concrete blocks to support the skeleton of the upside-down hull. Next they built two gantries to flip the hull upright. Anything that West could make, he did—including stainless-steel handrails, rope tie-offs, and the 65-foot-tall mast.

Hope Floats

Getting Faith into water proved nearly as challenging as building the boat. The Ohio River, located about 150 miles away, was the nearest suitable connection to waterways leading to the Gulf of Mexico. It took the Wests a month to find a towing company able to execute a hair-raising one-day slog along highways and back roads. “The trailer was about an inch off the ground,” West says. “It rubbed the ground every so often.”

West says he named the craft Faith because he had to believe that one day he’d actually complete it (and it wouldn’t sink). The moment of truth arrived in late April, at a Cincinnati marina. “There was a whole bunch of guys pushing on the boat,” West says. “But the current was so fast that the ramp scratched the bottom.” Then, after West started the engine, it blew a head gasket. Leaky pipes also plagued the maiden voyage, but the Wests successfully repaired their ship and headed downriver toward the ocean. They hope to pilot Faith to several continents, but their exact route is open to the winds of chance and curiosity. “This has added years to my life,” West says. “I think that’s the secret to life: get out and do something.”

HOW IT WORKS

Crafting part of a 56-foot-long yacht is one thing. Learning to build Faith and install, maintain, and repair all of its parts is another. Here are just a few of the nautical systems West mastered during his five years of toil.

How Faith Works

Power A 100hp diesel motor and 500 gallons of diesel fuel give Faith 1,000 miles of range without wind.

Navigation (A) A computer autopilot, radar system, sonar scanner, GPS unit, and a gyroscopic compass all work together to get Faith to its destination—with or without a captain.

Safety To guard against pirates, West made the core of the master cabin’s door from steel and incorporated a thick metal lock bar. The only access to the rudder controls is through the master cabin, so if there’s a raid, the Wests can hunker down inside and disable the ship’s steering. (A gun cabinet in the master cabin holds last-resort countermeasures.)

Electricity (B) Two wind turbines on the back of the boat provide power for lights, electronics, and other systems. Faith also has a 10kW diesel generator, which fulfills most of its electrical needs.

Interior (C) West harvested walnut trees from 50 acres of forest that he owns, cut the timber in his homemade sawmill, and used it to build the boat’s cabinets, control panel, and tables.

Water Faith ‘s water-treatment system converts seven to nine gallons of seawater into tap water every hour, using carbon filters and a bacteria-killing ultraviolet light to get the job done.

Why is this called a ‘Moscow Mule’?

It was off to the Internet, where I found that, as in the case of many origin stories, there was more than one. And none of them really explained the Mule reference; the best I can tell you is that the ginger beer gives the drink a kick like a mule, and (more probably) it was alliterative. At any rate, here is my favorite version, written for Liquor.com by famed author and mixologist Gary Regan:

“In 1947, Edwin H. Land invented the Polaroid Land Camera, and instant photography was born.

“John G. Martin, an executive at the Heublein drinks company, availed himself of one of Land’s handy-dandy devices, and soon he was bar-crawling, taking pictures of bartenders holding a bottle of the firm’s newly acquired Smirnoff Vodka in one hand and a copper Moscow Mule mug in the other.

“The bartender got a copy for his troubles, and Martin took a second shot to show the next joint what the competition was selling. Martin was a true marketing genius.

“The Moscow Mule had been invented circa 1941, and although Martin often said that he and Jack Morgan, owner of the Los Angeles British pub Cock ‘n’ Bull*, created the drink, such might not actually be the case. According to a 2007 article in the Wall Street Journal penned by the reliable Eric Felton, the Cock ‘n’ Bull’s head bartender Wes Price also laid claim to the recipe. And I’m inclined to believe a bartender over a marketer…

“What we do know for certain is that Martin had bought the rights to Smirnoff for Heublein in the late 1930s, but he was having a hard time convincing Americans to drink the stuff. Vodka wasn’t very popular in the States back then. And it’s well-known that Morgan had ordered far too much ginger beer for his bar and was also having trouble getting rid of it.

“Ted ‘Dr. Cocktail’ Haigh, in his book Vintage Spirits and Forgotten Cocktails , adds another relevant fact to the story: Morgan apparently had a girlfriend who owned a company that made copper products, so the copper Moscow Mule mugs were relatively easy to come by for him.

“Though the Moscow Mule might not be a cocktailian masterpiece, it can be (provided you use a good, spicy ginger beer) a refreshing quaff, indeed. And according to Price, it entered the world in a very honest way: ‘I just wanted to clean out the basement,’ he said.”

* The Cock ‘n’ Bull pub no longer exists, but you can still buy Cock’n Bull ginger beer, which is what I use to make my Kentucky Mules.

Basil the Blessed

Our father among the saints Basil the Blessed was a Fool-for-Christ and Wonder-worker living in Moscow at the time of Tsar Ivan the Terrible . He is also known as Vasily , Vasily Blazhenny , Basil Fool-for-Christ , or Basil of Moscow . His feast day is celebrated on August 2 , the date of his repose.

Basil was born into a family of serfs in December 1468 in the village of Elokhovo, near Moscow, Russia. Elokhovo is now part of the city of Moscow. His father was named Jacob and his mother Anna. According to tradition, Basil was born on the portico of the Elokhovo church in honor of the Vladimir Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos .

Apprenticed to a shoemaker in Moscow, Basil soon showed that he was no ordinary man. When a merchant, who had brought grain to Moscow, ordered special boots that the merchant could not wait to be finished and would get when he returned in a year, Basil wept and said, "I wish you would cancel the order, since you will never wear them." When his perplexed master questioned him, Basil explained that the man would not wear the boots as he would soon die. After several days the prediction came true.

When he was sixteen, Basil adopted an eccentric lifestyle, that of the difficult exploit of foolishness for Christ. In the burning summer heat and the harsh winter's frost, Basil walked through the streets of Moscow barefoot. His actions were also strange. At one time he would upset a stand with kalachi, and at another he would spill a jug with kvas. The angry merchants beat him, but he endured the beatings with joy and he thanked God for them. Then, it was discovered that the kalachi were poorly cooked, and the kvas was badly prepared. Soon, his reputation grew, and people saw him as a holy fool, a man of God, and a denouncer of wrong.

Preaching mercy, Basil helped those who were ashamed to ask for alms, but who were more in need of help than others. He harshly condemned those who gave alms for selfish reasons, not out of compassion for the poor and destitute, but hoping for an easy way to gain God's blessings upon their affairs. Many observed that when Basil passed by a house in which the occupants made merry and drank, he wept and clutched the corners of the house. When Basil was asked what this meant, and he answered: "Angels stand in sorrow at the house and are distressed by the sins of the people, but I entreat them with tears to pray to the Lord for the conversion of sinners."

Made pure by the great deeds and by the prayer of his soul, Basil was given the gift of foreseeing the future. In 1547, he predicted the great fire of Moscow; through prayer he extinguished a fire at Novgorod ; and once he reproached Tsar Ivan the Terrible, because during the divine services he was preoccupied with thoughts of building a palace on the Vorobiev hills.

At another time, Basil gave Tsar Ivan some meat during Great Lent , telling him it did not matter whether or not he fasted from eating meat, because of the murders he had committed.

St. Basil died on August 2 , 1557. St. Macarius , Metropolitan of Moscow, served his funeral with many clergy . Tsar Ivan himself acted as pallbearer and carried his coffin to the cemetery. Basil is buried in the cemetery of Trinity church, where in 1554, the Protection of the Theotokos cathedral was built, on the Red Square of Moscow, in memory of the conquest of Kazan. The main chapel of the cathedral is dedicated to St. Basil.

His Holiness Patriarch Job glorified St. Basil the Blessed at a Council on August 2 , 1588. The saint's chains are preserved at the Moscow Theological Academy .

The Assumption Belfry and Ivan the Great Bell Tower

View from a corner of Assumption Cathedral on the architectural ensemble of the Assumption Belfry (at the left) and Ivan the Great Bell Tower (at the right) built in the Moscow Kremlin in 16th century. The tower’s name implies that it had once housed St. John’s Church, and that it used to be the tallest building in Moscow (height with cross is about 80 m). For many decades the bell tower was also the main watchtower in the Kremlin, and later also a fire tower. Petrok Maliy, the Italian architect who built the Kitai-Gorod wall in Moscow, started the construction of the church of the Resurrection, later renamed Church of the Nativity, next to the Ivan the Great Tower in 1532. Decades later was converted to a four-tier belfry for large bells, known today as the Assumption Belfry after its main 64-ton bell placed in the middle of the fourth tier. The Assumption bell tolled only on great holidays and to announce events of exceptional significance.
