Niall's experience with surveying cargoes has covered a wide range of commodities including: bulk cargoes (wheat, fertiliser, units of woodpulp etc), general containerised cargoes, oil industry pipes and equipment and refrigerated goods.  He has also conducted loading and discharge surveys of heavy project equipment and pre-loading surveys of machinery and pipes establishing the pre-shipment condition of these goods and ensuring the safe packing of these items where necessary. In addition to cargoes, Niall has also been involved with ship P&I work assessing damage to vessels after collisions / incidents and has also been involved with assisting crewmen who have landed in hospital after incidents on board vessels.

Since July 2012, Niall has worked as an independent marine cargo surveyor

The individual elements of the craft are assessed separately and as a whole in order that a detailed, coherent and user friendly report can be put together. The individual reports break the craft down into a number of separate sections, each containing positive and negative comments together with a list of recommendations as appropriate within each section.
