Blitzway Constructs the Ecto-1 From 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife' In 1/6 Scale

Equipped with screen-accurate detailing, weathering, and lighting effects..

In celebration of the recent  Ghostbusters follow-up Ghostbusters: Afterlife ,  premium collectibles company Blitzway has now re-created the iconic Ecto-1 in 1/6th scale.

Just as the film portrays, the new model comes in all the legendary vehicle’s ghostbusting glory but with a fully weathered effect with rusted accents all across its body to give it some character and history. The hood opens up to reveal a highly-detailed engine, complemented by a whole array of gadgets and accessories in the cabin and on the roof rack. Two small motors actually allow the light bars to rotate, while 37 LED light-up functions on both the interior and exterior to create exceptional realism with a siren sound effect as well. Of course, as a scaled model, you’ll also be able to open all five doors and fit four six-inch Ghostbusters figures inside to complete the look.

Man, would it be cool to own this. Sadly, I do not have the $1,390 that it will cost to get it into my collection. Look at that thing! The amount of detail in this thing is crazy. The coolest part has to be that you can store the proton packs in the back. Well, that and the fact that you can have your Ghostbusters ride in the car itself. Between all the electronics and size of this thing, the price is more than justified in my eyes.

Blitzway Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Reveal Update

It has been about a year since Blitzway screamed back into the One Sixth Scale scene with the announcement of their Ghostbusters Sixth Scale figures. Along with the figures came the announcement of the famous Ecto-1 in scale with the figures! We saw the figures in person at San Diego Comic-Con 2016 followed by official reveal photos online, but there was no sight of the Ecto-1! Now we have news from the company themselves so we are relaying an official Blitzway Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Reveal Schedule .

We will begin with a bit about the figures themselves. These were initially due out in December 2016 to February 2017, which is obviously not the case. That time has come and gone, and now Blitzway has given us a bit of an update. According to them the figures will be shipping out beginning in June of this year! If their other releases are anything to go by the quality we will be seeing should not even be in question. There is no doubt that these figures will come out looking fantastic. That said, let us move onto the elusive Ecto-1!

Who Ya Gonna Call?

The announcement that Blitzway had the Ghostbusters license was amazing for a variety of reasons. For so long the only options for one sixth scale figures of the Busters were either the Mattel figures, or customs. Now we had access to high end figures for a relatively reasonable price , no more than the average Hot Toys figure. Of course if you are going to be buying all of the Ghostbusters, it would make sense to also have their vehicle! Blitzway announced that the Ecto-1 would be coming right alongside the figures and there was much rejoice.

Time went on and the announcement of the figures came and went without much of a peep on the Ecto-1. Many (myself included) feared that perhaps it had hit production issues and would never see the light of day, however that does not appear to be the case now as Blitzway has given the community a much needed update!

When will we be seeing the Blitzway Ghostbusters Ecto-1?

According to Blitzway we will be seeing the official reveal of the Ecto-1 at San Diego Comic Con 2017. Ordering information will be coming shortly after the show. Luckily for our readers, One Sixth Society will be there just about every day of the show bringing you plenty of news updates . You can bet money on it that the Ecto-1 will be one of the first things we take a look at and we will be taking plenty of photos of.

As with Blitzway’s other offerings, we are confident that the Blitzway Ghostbusters Ecto-1 will impress. It has certainly been a long time coming and we hope that the time and effort shows. With little details available at the moment, we wait anxiously for the opportunity to find out all about this exciting new release!

Once the icon of an era, the Ecto-1 has become a legend over 30 years of time and memories.

Although old and beat-up, the massive vehicle, like a giant beast with its hidden claws, is coming back with the familiar siren sound.

As deep wrinkles have lain on the faces of the heroes who hunted down ghosts with fantastic and secret devices, the body of Ecto-1, once pure white, is stained with dirt, full of bumps and scratches now.

However, the body, which powerfully runs forward with the engine making a noisy sound, is rich in various secret devices.

The gunner seat that pops out when the side door opens is exactly reproduced as seen in the movie.

Used to catch ghosts, the R.T.V. takes off from the bottom of the vehicle body also as it does in the movie.

In February of last year, Blitzway announced that they’d be releasing a follow-up to their previously released 1:6 scale Ghostbusters Ecto-1, revealing an updated take based on the vehicle’s rusted and aged appearance from the Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel .

After facing a handful of delays, the over 3′ long take on the tricked-out Cadillac is now finding its way into fans’ collections, with YouTuber BigBreda providing us our first in-hand review.

The nearly 10-minute feature, while not a conventional unboxing due to the sheer size of the packaging not fitting into the frame, still provides an incredibly up-close look at what’s most important, that being the Ectomobile itself, highlighting the weathering found on both the exterior and interior, extendable gunner seat, lights and sounds, and the included RTV which does have a play feature thanks to an extendable ramp.

Boasting a price tag of $1,899, the last lot of pre-orders are now available through Entertainment Earth , with in-stock delivery expected later this month ( ORDER NOW ).

At this time, there’s been no indication from Blitzway on if they’ll be bringing back their previously released 1:6 scale figures; however, for those in need, a spiritual and entirely unauthorized successor is expected to begin shipping early next year, with Present Toys’ revealing the Ghost Hunting Squad.

While not endorsed by Columbia Pictures Ghost Corps, the 12″ collectibles look similar to Blitzway’s previous releases, with more photos and details available in our previous report .

How to get the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Albany Brigham in GTA V

This suspiciously familiar car can be yours in GTA V as the game pays homage to Ghostbusters in its San Andreas Mercenaries update.

Grand Theft Auto V’s San Andreas Mercenaries Update has introduced new outfits, new missions, and a huge array of new content for the game, but there’s one vehicle that nostalgic players are desperate to get their hands on. That vehicle is the Albany Brigham, which has more than a passing resemblance to the Ecto-1 hearse from Ghostbusters. Here’s how too get your own Ghostbusters car in GTA V:

How to get the Ghostbusters car GTA V

It’s pretty easy to get your hands on this Ecto-1 look-alike. All you need is to have the cash and know where to look. First thing you need to do is bring up your phone (in-game), jump on the internet, and head to Southern San Andreas Super Autos. If you’re struggling to find them on the front page, you’ll find them under the “Travel And Transportation” section.

Select the Albany Brigham, and then pony up the $1,499,00 dollars and you can buy and have it delivered to your garage. We suggest buying one in white to make it ready for the customization to turn it into the knockoff Ecto-1 Ghostbusters car.

How to make your Albany Brigham look like Ghostbusters Ecto-1

To unlock the special “Ghosts Exposed livery” which makes the Albany Brigham look like a dead ringer for Ghostbusters’ Ecto-1, you’ll need to complete the Ghost Exposed Freemode event. This mission sees you take pictures of 10 ghosts, which only spawn at specific times across the map.It’s a pretty tricky mission and will have you driving all around the north of the map, but once you’ve finished the Ghosts Exposed livery is yours.

After that, head to any Los Santos Customs and select the Ghosts Exposed livery, and just like that, you can enjoy your brand new Ghostbusters… *ahem* we mean Ghosts Exposed hearse. 

Perfect nostalgia. Now if they can add some Ecto Cooler, and maybe a Stay Puft Marshmallow Man costume, we’re ready for Halloween!

Ghosts have multiple abilities in their arsenal, like possessing objects, of course sliming, and more, that make haunting all the various locations a blast to play.
