Oyster 745 Hero 2 D

A crewed 75 foot cruising yacht designed for very big adventures

DESIGNED FOR THE LONG HAUL

The Oyster 745 is a long range cruising yacht, designed to take you to the remotest corners of the world. She is a joy to sail yourself, with a small crew to assist and maintain her. This 75 foot sailboat is the smallest in the Oyster range with dedicated crew quarters. The internal layout offers a separate ensuite crew cabin and galley with discrete access, guaranteeing privacy for you, your family and friends. This versatile yacht offers huge scope for customisation, allowing you to add your personal touch to the spacious living accommodation. Well provisioned with generous cabins, capacious storage and tankage, she is as well-suited to long haul liveaboard adventures as she is local cruising and entertaining. The design and configuration of this offshore sailboat makes her the perfect model to offer for charter when you are not aboard enjoying her yourself.

EXCEPTIONAL PASSAGE-MAKING CAPABILITY

The Oyster 745 is a thrilling, large sailing yacht - her immense scale makes it an unforgettable experience. Her powerful, large volume hull form with twin rudders offers perfect stability and effortless finger-tip control on the helm. Visibility is excellent from both protected helm stations, making tricky manoeuvres simple and the smart sail plan makes her easy to handle, delivering consistently fast passage-making speeds. It all adds up to a beautifully balanced offshore sailboat. The large cockpit offers safety and comfort for family and friends; concealed lines, clutter-free decks with flush hatches and plenty of stowage for sails and kit make moving around safer under sail. Exceptionally large tankage and generous stowage below means you can make extended voyages without re-stocking. Wherever this Oyster 745 long-range cruising yacht takes you, you can be sure adventure comes as standard.

75 foot yacht

A true long range cruising yacht

The Oyster 745 is well-provisioned for long haul bluewater cruising. The smallest boat in the Oyster fleet with dedicated crew quarters, you can enjoy time at the helm, or let the crew take over while you relax and enjoy the view with family and friends.

Choose from a variety of options to accommodate up to four crew, the standard layout offers a double bunk crew cabin forward, linear galley with a further double ensuite cabin which can be used for crew or guests. This yacht also has the option for a full width galley, offering two double bunk crew cabins in the bow, with two heads.

There are plenty of opportunities to add a personal touch to almost every aspect of the interior, from your choices of wood and fabric, to entertainment, connectivity and navigation equipment.

Engineering features are easily accessible, with a large engine room under the saloon sole with room for two generators. Services and systems are clearly labelled and easily accessed. Intelligent design makes use of every available space for storage and the optional extended transom opens up a larger, full width lazarette for all your bluewater cruising and water sports gear.

Boat Review: 75 Sunseeker Yacht

Source: David Lockwood, Boatpoint.com.au

Before testing the latest Sunseeker, David Lockwood would not have believed a 75-foot motoryacht was a manageable owner/driver craft. Packed with conveniences for the recreational boat owner, the Sunseeker 75 really puts the driver in control

There is no line set in stone to determine where an owner/driver boat ends and a crewed boat requiring at least a hired hand or skipper begins.

After all, our perceptions and abilities change, as does technology and especially driver-friendly conveniences that assist us with the knee-knocking job of berthing a truly big boat. These days, 40-footers are snaps to drive and it’s become possible for owners to park 50-to-60-footers with aplomb.

Amid this shift to bigger boats one thing is certain: the Sunseeker 75 Yacht has changed my view about what constitutes a manageable owner/driver motoryacht. Even Sunseeker’s NSW Manager, Mike Garrett, confessed: “We thought our Manhattan 64 might be regarded as the limit of an owner/driver boat that can be self-maintained. But the owner of this 75 Yacht has proven us wrong.”

SUPER YACHT A mini superyacht, the 75 Yacht is the newest and smallest model in Sunseeker’s successful Yacht range that towers all the way to an imminent new triple-decked 140 footer.

This huge and accommodating 75-footer has a four cabin, four ensuite layout, plus separate aft crew quarters and bathroom at the transom for crew or for showers after swims and dives.

While very much the recreational owner/driver boat, the engineering is at once simple and seriously shiplike. The walk-in aft engine room allows for at-a-glance monitoring of essential engineering items when not monitoring the engine room camera.

To this already-impressive list of features you can add Sunseeker’s signature hull designed by Don Shead. It’s fashioned from solid GRP below the waterline, with composite decks and half tunnels, and powered very efficiently by the latest 1500hp V12 Man motors with, like every Sunseeker, vee drives. Consider those hydraulic bow- and sternthrusters, a view from the flybridge to beyond the bow and back to the starboard corner of the boarding platform, and you have a reassuring owner/driver mini superyacht.

However, unlike so many big boats, the 50,000kg-plus 75 Yacht doesn’t wallow when you want to go places other than back in your marina berth. The boat glides to planing speed without needing trim tabs and races to a top speed of 33 knots. It cruises at 23-24 knots with the grace of the royal carriage.

With off-the-wheel power-assisted steering, the 75 Yacht remains a sporty drive. Wearing a boyish grin, I found this boat more fun than some 40-foot so-called sportscruisers.

BIG BOAT SYSTEMS The thrills began from the moment I strolled along the dock and admired the sheer volume and fine lines of the 75. The excitement continued to my exploration of the crew quarters and adjoining engine room. The boat’s submersible boarding platform carries a jet-powered Avon RIB. Before the platform is a transom door providing access to the air-conditioned and naturally-ventilated crew cabin. There are two adult-length bunks, hanging space, digital VHF with intercom, and a head across the way with a lot of floor space and a decent shower and electric loo.

A watertight door leads to the engine room with full headroom, an emergency hatch to the cockpit with ladder per CE certification, and shiplike systems with labelled machinery to make life easy for owner/drivers.

Among the key items are the hydraulic pump for the bow- and sternthrusters and boarding platform; the dedicated pump for the power-assisted hydraulic steering; the separate Besenzoni pump for the passerelle; the Shorepower with 100-amp single-phase power; a storage bucket for the lead; and extractor fans so the motors breathe clean air. The engines have underwater exhausts and ZF gearboxes a long way forward of the engine blocks, as per the vee-drive configuration.

There is an environmentally-friendly FM200 fire-fighting system, two compact chilled-water air conditioning units for instant temperature control, a desalinator for those trips to the reef (all the water on the boat is filtered), invertors to run the sound system and televisions without the gensets, smart battery chargers for the 12V and big-boat 24V systems, and only no-maintenance batteries.

The generators are twin 22.5kW (28kVA) models with underwater exhausts and sea strainers, hidden beneath a removable chequerplate panel with the strainers for the air-con units. The engine sea strainers are alongside the fuel filters with redundant filters nearby. The boat has external fuel and engine vent shutoffs like a survey vessel.

The fuel is carried on the centreline with water forward. All electrical and plumbing lines are coded. Underwater gear includes five-blade props, dripless shaft seals, bronze rudders and 24V hydraulic trim tabs. You also get a supplied toolkit, boathook, mooring lines, fenders, spares and towels.

Among the options are teak decks on the bridge, the Avon jet tender, and a 400kg Besenzoni davit on the flybridge. Sunseeker removed the internal flybridge ladder at the owner’s request to create a clean interior and bigger freezer area and wetbar. The saloon looks much bigger and less cluttered for it.

OUTDOOR LIVING You come aboard via one of two flights of stairs leading up to the cockpit. Outdoors, the 75 Yacht has all the bases covered; every corner serves a purpose. I immediately set eyes on the swanky electric capstans favoured in the Med to assist with stern-to berthing, trendy peanut-shaped cleats and full bulwarks backed by rails just like a real little ship.

Walking to the bow, I passed foredeck storage lockers before finding a forward-facing lounge for four built into the boat. Talk about views! Also on the bow is a sun lounge with 10 drinkholders. In fact, this boat has dozens of drinkholders. Is Sunseeker thinking of rebadging as Sundowner?

Back in the teak cockpit, under the aft bridge overhang and out of the sun, is a wonderful lunch and dinner venue by the water’s edge. The moulded built-in lounge along the transom, five teak chairs with blue-and-white upholstery, and long teak table can seat 10 in comfort. There’s an icemaker not too far away, cockpit speakers, and low-level and brighter lighting.

The observation deck, aka the flybridge, has almost as much room to rumba as the company’s flush-decked entertainers, the Predators. Compared with the Manhattan 74, the 75 Yacht is said to be a giant. The single-level flybridge looks exceptionally big, especially without the jet skis on the aft landing deck. This landing deck area, with its 400kg Besenzoni davit built especially for Sunseeker with a long-reach arm, could be used as a lounging area if ever you needed more space than the flybridge alone.

The radar arch has cool superyacht styling and sports domes for the satellite communications as well as radar and aerials. The boat has a locally-cut bimini top, which is something the Aussie agents have perfected, though we left it scrolled in its pouch for this fine autumn morning when the sun was warming our skin and we felt like we were in boating nirvana.

There are plenty of seats and lounges up top but the low surrounding rails and tinted windshield don’t provide support to allow you to lean out from the bridge. As such, this is very much an observation deck where you sit or lie back and take in the views. The sunpad alongside the helm is a great place to throw the nippers or for a lazy couple to catch some rays. I know my partner would be keen to park herself on this daybed and snooze while the autopilot or I drove on long passages.

The helm seat can seat three people, the co-pilot seat can seat a couple, and there is a massive U-shaped lounge behind the helm area with a moulded table that can seat eight for lunch. Speaking of which, the boat has a handy amenities centre behind the skipper’s seat with a deep drink chiller that can take a case of Coronas, a central ceramic griddle for cooking lobster tails, drinkholders for when it’s time to down arms and flip the lunch, and a sink with hot and cold water.

The abundant white gelcoat could be harsh on the eyes and in summer you would doubtless need to do your lunches down in the shaded cockpit. From autumn to sunny winter, however, the top deck is the place to be, and the circumambient views can’t be bettered from any other perch on the boat.

ENTERTAINING INDOORS Speaking of views, I was besotted by the huge picture windows in the saloon. There was a perfect postcard image of the cityscape and the iconic opera house. The views are yours when seated on the boats’ two opposing leather lounges which can collectively embrace a dozen guests.

The other thing I love about the saloon is that it’s one level. You can waltz inside the big sliding stainless-framed doors, trot past the leather lounges, entertainment centre, wetbar and galley, right to the internal helm.

The entertainment centre includes a 100cm plasma TV and an upgraded Bose Lifestyle 55 system with indoor, outdoor and flybridge zones. The black-framed TV and speakers were discrete in a satin cherrywood cabinet.

To port, opposite the galley where the internal stairs were removed, is a custom wetbar with supplied crystal glasses, a three-drawer deep freeze, a storage area for platters, bowls and entertaining items, and a navigation area. You could lean on the sideboard, unfurl a chart, grab a drink and make a decision about your next destination.

While by no means huge, the galley has everything you would ask of a kitchen in a liveaboard boat. There are granite countertops, a deep sink, a Miele four-burner cooktop, Bosch dishwasher, Panasonic convection microwave, and lots of timber lockers with the supplied Royal Dalton dinner and afternoon-tea settings and stainless-steel cutlery.

Forward is a portside dinette with big cherrywood table and leather lounge set behind the windscreen. This can double as an informal seating area where you can converse with the skipper at the lower helm, behind a half-bulkhead putting the helm out of view of the saloon.

Some say the privacy afforded by the bulkhead lets the skipper concentrate, but there are options of an open galley and integrated lower helm. Either way, you will find it hard leaving the black-leather Besenzoni helm chair, what with its wonderful lumbar support and push-button height and depth adjustors. Every long-range passagemaking boat needs a high-backed helm chair like this. There is an electric locking cantilevered door beside the chair that leads out to the starboard bulwark to aid with parking and nice big wipers on the windscreen.

Boats in this league have custom electronics packages. Almost reminiscent of an aircraft cockpit, the 75 Yacht’s lower helm is equipped with a Raymarine RL 70C and RL80C combo colour chartplotter, radar, depth sounder and log; Raymarine autopilot; a Raymarine multifunction numerical screen on which you could relay your depth in large numbers; a Raymarine wind gauge; a dedicated camera screen showing views from engine room to the transom and cockpit; two electronic multifunction Man engine panels as well as analogue gauges; chain counter; spotlight; and alarm, bilge and light indicator plans.

The boat has electronic controls with a handy amount of detent so you know where neutral is, a single joystick for the bow- and sternthrusters, and a large timber wheel with featherlight steering – very few turns were needed to bank the boat around thanks to the power-assisted hydraulic motor. Most of these controls are repeated on the flybridge.

CABIN FEVER The 75 Yacht is truly accommodating with beds for eight in four cabins, plus four heads, and the crew quarters. It’s also sophisticated with satin cherrywood joinery, feature panels, timber blinds, metallic curtains and earthy tones.

The VIP guest cabin in the bow features an island double berth on the centreline surrounded by lots of drawers, a dedicated dresser or boating office, and a walk-in wardrobe with full-length mirrors. The third and fourth cabins down a step and just aft of the foyer feature comfortable adult-length single berths, big hanging lockers and drawers, air-con and even flat-screen televisions with satellite and Foxtel.

The boat’s washer/dryer is also down here, but I would prefer a separate unit in the crew quarters.

The pièce de résistance is the owner’s stateroom abutting the thickly sound-insulated engine room. The full-width cabin has three deep windows behind Roman blinds that frame the views from the central island bed. One porthole in each set can be opened for natural ventilation.

There’s a leather lounge big enough for two people alongside the bed and a dressing area with tub chair and 240V outlets to make a decent boat office. Ahead of the bed is a 50cm flatscreen television and behind the bedhead is a huge walk-in wardrobe and ensuite with granite vanity, personal storage, extractor, Vacuflush loo, and large shower stall with five-jet body massages and showerhead.

BLUEWATER CRUISING The V12 1500hp Man motors proved exceedingly quiet whether driving and riding aboard in the bridge or the saloon. In relative terms, these big blocks aren’t gas guzzlers. The 50-tonne boat glides to planing speeds and cruise speeds without the motors working too hard. Synchronised at 1500rpm, they were using 100lt/h each for a handy cruise of 18.6kt.

But what stunned me was the speed of the everyday cruise. At 1800rpm, the Mans sounded really happy and the boat was cruising at 23 knots using 163lt/h per motor. The efficiency of the hull was underscored by the lack of a rooster tail astern and spray being pushed off the bow. Fast cruise speed was clocked at 2000rpm and 27 knots using 200lt/h per side. Flat out at 2350rpm, the 75 Yacht gave 33 knots while consuming a tad more than 300lt per motor per hour.

In some ways, it’s been just as exciting tagging along for the ride and seeing Sunseeker come of age Down Under. From those early days when the boats lacked polish to the present day where they can cut it at marinas anywhere in the world, the boats are getting better and better. The 75 Yacht probably has more in common with a semi-custom superyacht than a production motorboat. Even the Sydney Water Police couldn’t help but steam over and admire the new calibre of owner/driver luxury boat. Way to go.

Sunseeker 75 Sport Yacht Review (2023 Edition)

Derived directly from the 74 Sports Yacht, the 75 introduces significant alterations to its styling and finish, while preserving crucial design elements.

Sunseeker 75 Sport Yacht Review (2023 Edition) image 1

Similar to its predecessor, the 75 is available in two configurations: the single-deck Predator and the sportsbridge Sports Yacht model. Both versions boast a range of enhancements and new features, including a redesigned transom and the notable technical upgrade of an RCD category A rating, the highest designation for a leisure yacht in the EU. With an impressive top speed of 40 knots, this British-built vessel makes a bold statement.

Our inspection of hull #1 at the 2023 Düsseldorf Boat Show provided a firsthand glimpse into its exceptional craftsmanship and performance capabilities.

Our Scores Explained

Design & Build

For enthusiasts of the previous 74 Sport Yacht or Predator models, the 75 offers a familiar and beloved experience, as it remains largely unchanged. The hull, engineering platform, layout, and overall design are consistent with its predecessor.

Equipped with twin 1,900hp MAN V12 engines, the 75 is capable of reaching speeds close to 40 knots, delivering an exhilarating ride akin to a racing yacht. Alternatively, it can maintain a confident pace of 25 knots throughout the day. Performance enhancements include Interceptor tabs, thrusters, and stabilizers, ensuring optimal handling and stability. Additionally, the standard hydraulics for the high-low platform are effectively utilized, further enhancing functionality and convenience.

Sunseeker 75 Sports Yacht design

Three Over Four

Buyers are likely to prefer the three-cabin layout over the optional fourth bunked cabin on the Three Over Four model, thanks to its super-sociable lower diner arrangement, destined to become the favorite gathering spot for all.

A standout feature of the Three Over Four model is its excellent and expansive aft deck lounge, complete with a theatrical drop-down cockpit door system. This innovative feature seamlessly connects the salon to the aft deck, creating a unified indoor-outdoor living space.

Tweaks & Changes

In terms of changes, the new 75 model inherits the upgraded sports interior from the XPS version of the 74, making it the standard finish. Previously available as a cost option, this interior now comes standard, featuring sleek carbon detailing.

Sunseeker's decision to elevate the Sport Yacht and Predator to RCD Cat A status is commendable. Achieving this required a reinforced engineering approach, highlighting the exceptional quality of the hull and build. Strengthening the main deck construction, enhancing stability and down-flooding measures, and overall compliance upgrades were necessary to meet Cat A standards. Despite these enhancements, Sunseeker assures us that the yachts maintain their performance identity.

Sunseeker 75 Sports Yacht design

The introduction of new hull colors, including various shades of gray, black, and navy blue, showcases a pigmented gel coat that is specifically engineered to withstand high temperatures. This meticulous attention to detail, observed on the 100 Yacht, extends to the utilization of Low Solar Absorption (LSA) coating on the sportsbridge molding. This black finish, layered over a white gel, effectively minimizes heat transfer, ensuring a cooler yacht and long-lasting aesthetics.

Notable adjustments include enhancements to the windows around the helm, featuring deeper glass sections on each side for improved visibility for guests and the skipper. Below decks, the window design has been subtly refined, with the addition of new stainless steel trims. A significant redesign is evident aft, where the dual tender garage remains unchanged, accommodating a Williams 395 and PWC. However, the entire transom has been revamped, resulting in a more symmetrical appearance with a central garage door and equal steps on each side, replacing the previous offset configuration.

Interior Accommodation

The new finish enhances the sense of spaciousness throughout the deck salon, where light cabinetry and contemporary fabrics are bathed in natural light streaming through the expansive windows. The abundance of glass surrounding the salon creates a stunning visual impact that will undoubtedly captivate onlookers both at boat shows and out on the water.

While the sunroof above the helm remains unchanged in size, the dropped cockpit doors seamlessly blend the interior with the seascape beyond, allowing for a seamless transition between the starboard lounge and its outdoor counterpart.

The port side cabinetry provides ample storage for cruising essentials, although it can easily be converted to accommodate a facing sofa. With a focus on maximizing storage space, the 75 ensures that comfort and functionality are not compromised, offering ample seating options for extended stays onboard.

Sunseeker 75 Sports Yacht salon

Social Scene

The Sport Yacht and Predator boast sociable helm stations with elevated guest seating, cleverly integrated into the salon, fostering connectivity while allowing guests to spread out comfortably.

Below the deck, the focus remains on social interaction. The forward VIP, twin cabin, and full-beam stateroom are all impeccably appointed and feature en-suite facilities. However, it's the galley diner that truly shines. While a lower galley may not appeal to everyone, those who prefer a relaxed onboard cooking experience for breakfast, light lunches, and evening gatherings will appreciate this layout. With the galley positioned aft, away from the main living areas, it minimizes steam, smells, and smoke, creating an ideal setting for casual culinary delights.

Sunseeker 75 Sports Yacht galley

The galley is equipped with ample cold storage and abundant cupboard space, ensuring convenience and functionality for onboard culinary endeavors. Positioned forward, the diner offers a private space for guests to converse, dine, access refreshments, and place orders, as this is technically a crewed yacht. Moreover, for those inclined to indulge in culinary pursuits, the presence of a grill on both the aft deck and sportsbridge provides an alternative option for cooking enthusiasts.

Sunseeker 75 Sports Yacht design

Carbon Special

The owner's stateroom provides an exceptional showcase for the new interior finish, offering a range of options for the final specification, including various cabinetry and fabric choices, as well as en-suite configurations. The sports-luxe aesthetic is upheld with sleek lighting and carbon-fiber inlays, adding a touch of sophistication to the space.

Located aft, the crew quarters are accessed through a transom door. Despite its designation as a crewed yacht, the 75 Sport Yacht exudes an effortless elegance and is a joy to navigate. However, given its 23-meter length, having a helping hand onboard may be desirable. The crew quarters comfortably accommodate two crew members, along with a toilet compartment and a practical utility area, ensuring seamless operations behind the scenes.

Helm Station

The starboard-side lower helm design maintains continuity with its predecessor, the 74, and rightfully so. Featuring two fully adjustable seats and a convenient side deck door, it offers practicality and ease of use. The main console accommodates two 16-inch MFD screens, complemented by a smart, illuminated panel of switches across the lower console.

A significant enhancement to the helm is the replacement of the old three-piece windscreen with two massive sections of glass, minimizing obstructions and improving visibility. The deeper side screen design further enhances visibility, ensuring excellent sightlines for confident navigation.

Sunseeker 75 Sports Yacht helm

Up & Over

Positioned to port, the upper helm offers convenient access for alongside mooring, allowing you to helm from the closest vantage point. However, thanks to its exceptional visibility and ease of surveying both sides of the boat, you'll likely opt to helm from the upper helm most of the time. Sporting a minimalist, sporty design, the upper helm features a clinical white console and sleek carbon-framed seats.

As a genuine performance yacht, guests will undoubtedly relish the opportunity to ride alongside the skipper, making the two excellent guest seating areas at both the lower and upper helm indispensable features of the vessel.

Deck lifestyle

The allure of the private lower deck diner notwithstanding, there's a compelling case for spending all your time in the aft deck lounge. Serving as a full outdoor living area, this deck boasts an expansive sweep of seating to starboard, nestled protectively within the sportsbridge overhang and sturdy side pillars.

Gone are the days of basic seat infills; they've been replaced with a sleek sliding base for added convenience. Additionally, the optional carbon fiber dining table is now a standard feature, while a new wet bar beneath the sportsbridge steps offers the option for a larger refrigerator. Further enhancing the lounge experience, the sun pad has been slightly extended as part of the transom redesign.

Sunseeker 75 Sports Yacht decks

Sportsbridge Space

The sportsbridge boasts a newly configured seating layout, featuring a spacious dining area aft and a forward lounge. Both areas are equipped with smart, solid teak tables that effortlessly convert into expansive sun pads, providing ample space for relaxation and sunbathing.

Noteworthy among the updates is a small yet significant design change to the radar mast. Previously a functional aluminum design, it has been replaced with a sleeker, more streamlined molded section, elevating the overall aesthetic and setting a new standard that will extend to other models in the lineup.

Sunseeker Superhawk sportsbridge

Returning to the main deck, the newly designed transom steps greatly facilitate access to and from the hydraulic bathing platform, ensuring effortless transitions for passengers. Additionally, a molded staircase has been introduced to provide bathers with the simplest and most convenient route in and out of the water, enhancing the overall onboard experience.

Value For Money

While Sunseeker is typically renowned for its emphasis on performance, style, and pedigree rather than being perceived as a "best value" option, the 75 may indeed represent a notable exception. With the final specification playing a significant role in determining the true on-the-water price for a yacht of this size, the base price of approximately EUR €3 million ex VAT (accurate at the time of writing) appears remarkably competitive. This pricing strategy provides buyers with the flexibility to customize their yachts to their exact preferences without compromising on quality or craftsmanship.

Sunseeker 75 Sports Yacht crew

In today's market, a stabilizer is considered standard equipment, even on high-speed vessels like the 40-knot boat, and while it may increase the budget, the hydraulic package is already included.

The primary consideration typically revolves around whether to upgrade the engines, transitioning from the base 1,550hp MANs to the 1,900hp option. However, given Sunseeker's reputation for performance and power, opting for the upgraded engines is almost a given.

The 75 Sport Yacht and upcoming Predator models have refined, fine-tuned, and enhanced the already impressive 74, retaining its standout features while incorporating subtle details that may not immediately catch the eye but will be endlessly appreciated. Two significant advantages are the inclusion of RCD boost and XPS trim as standard features. Additionally, stylistically, the new transom design seamlessly integrates with the overall aesthetic, while the redesigned aft deck seating infill eliminates previous nuisances.

However, it's the comprehensive package, offered at a price point as aggressive as the design itself, that will undoubtedly ensure the continued success of this model. With a perfect balance of performance, style, and value, the 75 Sport Yacht and Predator represent the pinnacle of Sunseeker's craftsmanship and innovation.

Reasons to Buy

  • Inside-outside social design
  • RCD Cat A and 40-knot performance
  • Competitive price
  • New design for 2023

Things to Consider

  • No upper galley option
  • Small engine bay hatch

The sportsbridge concept truly shines in yachts over 20 meters, offering an upper deck that, while not as expansive as a flybridge, is still impressive and enjoyable.

One notable competitor in terms of sportsbridge space and style is the elegantly designed Princess S72, featuring a layout similar to Sunseeker's offering. The S72 achieves speeds of up to 36 knots with smaller 1,650hp MAN engines, boasting a substantial weight of 55 tonnes, a testament to its exceptional hull design. Inside, the four-cabin layout positions the galley aft with a separate dining area.

Azimut offers two compelling S models for consideration. The S7, slightly smaller at 22 meters, is propelled by triple IPS pods, reaching speeds of around 35 knots. Its four-cabin interior features a galley up layout, with the unique feature of being positioned forward by the helm. On the other hand, the S8, at 25 meters, boasts a smaller sportsbridge but offers ample interior space, including a spacious lounge and dining area on the main deck, along with four cabins and the galley below.

Riva's Perseo Super, capable of 37 knots, is a noteworthy contender known for its blend of sports style and GT luxury. Exquisitely built and designed, its three-cabin interior exudes a blend of yacht sophistication and supercar allure, making it a must-see option in the market.

Sunseeker 75 Sport Yacht Layout

Flybridge Sunseeker 75 Sport Yacht

At this size of yacht, the sportsbridge feels very much at flybridge levels on luxury and specification, if not quite on space. That said, the 75's upper deck is one of the biggest in this sector.

Main Deck Sunseeker 75 Sport Yacht

A great balance between salon and aft deck space creates two lounges and that inside-outside flow we want. Having the galley down helps salon space and there is no option to move it up, as most rivals do.

Lower Deck Sunseeker 75 Sport Yacht

The lower galley and dinette is an undoubted feature but it does make the 75 a three-cabin boat.

Arm yourself with actionable sales intelligence in the motoryacht arena.

INTRODUCTION

The 70-80 foot market continues to be a strong market with several recent sales. Here’s a breakdown of a few of the top yachts to consider between 70 and 80 feet in length that are attracting buyers to the table.

Ocean Alexander 78 Yacht

The 2012 Ocean Alexander 78 ALEXANDRA represents one of the finest motor yachts in her class with less than 400 original hours, Zero Speed Trac stabilizers finished off with a stunning Destry Darr Interior. Powered by twin Caterpillar C18 ACERT engines (Approx. 397 hrs), she carries a three-stateroom layout plus crew quarters, making for an ideal cruising yacht, whether for an owner operator or crewed yacht. The previous owners transitioned from a a 62’ Ocean Alexander, falling in love with the spacious layout in the bigger 78′ model that could accommodate cruising requirements in Southern waters like Florida and on Lake Michigan in Chicago. Lazzara 75 LSX Sport Yacht

One of five 75 Lazzaras currently on the market, this 2007 model is the nicest available. New paint in 2010 and fresh varnish on her aft cap rails really set her apart from her competition. The galley down arrangement is very unique in that it gets natural light from the windshield. Her quad Volvo IPS 600s power this Lazzara 75 to 27 knot cruise speed. Tip: We recently listed a 116′ Lazzara for sale that will appeal to buyers who wish to move up to higher length ranges in the future. In 2014, the owners spent over $250,000 to keep her in ‘mint’ condition. _________________________________________________________________________________ More research: Review Similar Yachts | Lazarra Reviews & Articles

WHAT IS THE TYPICAL USE FOR ARKUP LIVABLE YACHTS? Owners can use the livable yacht as a recreational vessel that can provide the feel and comfort of home. For investors, the vessels represent an unparalleled opportunity as seasonal or event rentals (in compliance with local regulations depending on the jurisdiction).

LIVING ON THE WATER: WHAT ARE THE WORLD TRENDS OF THIS NEW LIFESTYLE? Although Arkup’s livable yachts are vessels, they can be used as floating houses, which have become popular as housing in some parts of the world (for example, in the Netherlands, the American West Coast, and in Southeast Asia). Arkup livable yachts are “future-proof” dwellings, whose mobility and flexibility make them resilient to floods, storm surge, and sea-level rise. Used as overwater villas, they also offer a key solution to urban growth and space scarcity.

WHAT IS THE RESALE VALUE OF A LIVABLE YACHT OVER TIME? A simple, practical concept — modular, adaptable, and built to last — the Arkup livable yacht will hold its value over time.  Compared with those of a traditional yacht, the vessel’s operational expenses are limited, and its features are designed to withstand extreme weather events and changes in water level, making it the ideal home of the future.

WHAT IS THE PRICE RANGE OF AN ARKUP LIVABLE YACHT? The price of the 75-foot Arkup livable yacht starts at $3.5 M, up to $5.5 M. The vessel can be customized to the needs and taste of each client.

IS THE INTERIOR DESIGN CUSTOMIZABLE? The Arkup livable yacht can be delivered in a stripped-down version — decorator ready — or fully furnished and ready to move in. Bespoke projects can be developed to suit each client’s needs and tastes.

HOW MUCH TIME BETWEEN ORDER AND DELIVERY OF THE LIVABLE YACHT? Standard delivery time is 14 to 18 months after order confirmation and plans approval, depending on desired technology and customization.

WHERE CAN THE VESSELS BE DELIVERED? Manufactured in Miami, Arkup livable yachts are delivered via waterways to coastal areas, accessible interior lakes, and large rivers around the world (cost of delivery provided on request).

WHAT IS THE USUAL MAINTENANCE CHECKLIST? Maintenance is limited: changing filters, lubricating the hydraulic pilings, cleaning the hull, pumping out the wastewater tank, inspecting and testing safety-features inspections, washing the solar roof.

CAN ARKUP LIVABLE YACHTS BE USED AS SEASONAL RENTALS?

Arkup livable yachts can be chartered to carry as many as 12 passengers with or without a crew, operating as an Uninspected Passenger Vessel over 100 gross tons or as a Recreational Vessel — a bareboat charter — according to the U.S. Coast Guards’ safety standards and regulations.

IS THERE ANY TAX INCENTIVE FOR BUYING AN ARKUP LIVABLE YACHT? The maximum taxes levied on the sale of a vessel in the State of Florida are $18,000, including both sales and use tax and discretionary sales surtax. Although there is no direct tax incentive for purchasing a 100-percent solar-electric vessel, you will have no utility bills because the Arkup Livable Yacht generates its own power and water, and it can operate off-the-grid. The property tax does not apply to recreational vessels. The annual registration fee for an Arkup Livable Yacht is approximately $150.

WHERE CAN I LIVE WITH SUCH A VESSEL? The same kind of areas where large yachts dock: marina slips, private docks, waterfront properties, privately-owned submerged lands, or regulated anchorage.

IS IT A HOUSE OR A VESSEL IN VIEW OF LAWS AND REGULATIONS? It is a recreational vessel that must be registered and titled.

WHAT ARE THE ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATIONS FOR OPERATING AN ARKUP LIVABLE YACHT? Laws prohibit anchoring in protected areas in an effort to preserve the waters and sea bottoms. Black- and gray-water discharge must be conducted in compliance with the regulations of individual local jurisdictions.

HOW IS SAFETY ADDRESSED IN OPERATIONS? Safe operating procedures (navigation, boat lift, sliding terrace, and hydraulic pilings) are detailed in the operational manual and will be addressed during owner training.

WHAT ARE ONBOARD SAFETY DEVICES? Glass railings and handrails, life vests, smoke detectors, sprinklers and fire extinguishers, alarms (smoke, bilge water, intrusion) and automated bilge pumps, lightning protection, CCTV cameras, and VHF are included. All alarms are connected and monitored in real-time.

WHAT TYPE OF WARRANTY DOES ARKUP OFFER? ARKUP offers 3 years on hull and superstructure, 2 years on power, jack-up, and propulsion systems, and 1 year on all items manufactured by Arkup. Accessories and components made by third parties installed by Arkup are covered by direct warranties of their own with a 12-month minimum coverage (i.e. electronic instruments, controls, accessories, air conditioning systems, appliances, windows, etc.)

WHAT ARE THE OPERATIONAL LIMITS OF THE VESSEL? The vessel is designed and engineered according to U.S. Coast Guard standards for recreational vessels in partially protected waters. The maximum anchoring depth is 25 feet (7.5 meters). The vessel is also compliant with the MCA LY3 Short Range Yacht stability criterion (waves < 1.83m/6 ft ; wind < 16kts).

WHAT DOES “HURRICANE-PROOF” MEAN? The Arkup livable yacht structure and anchoring system are designed to resist high winds of as much as 156 miles per hour, or 250 kilometers per hour — equivalent to a Category 4 hurricane. The vessel can be completely lifted out of the water to safeguard from storm surge. Hurricanes are predictable storm events, allowing enough time for owners to sail to a safe harbor or a protected area. The livable yachts are not made to stay in deep waters and exposed areas.

ARE ARKUP LIVABLE YACHTS CUSTOMIZABLE? The vessels are fully customizable on-demand and can incorporate anything the customer would like to include.

IS THERE A THERMIC ENGINE BACKUP FOR THE 100-PERCENT ELECTRIC MODEL? A diesel generator can be added upon request to increase range, but existing electric engines provide enough power to propel the vessel and navigate safely.

CAN YOU BOOST THE POWER OF THE ELECTRIC THRUSTERS? Yes. The two 136-horsepower thrusters can be upgraded. We can also boost electric-energy production and storage depending on the client’s needs.

WHAT HOME-AUTOMATION TECHNOLOGIES ARE INCORPORATED INTO THE ARKUP LIVABLE YACHTS? An Arkup livable yacht features state-of-the-art smart technologies and offers maximum living comfort by enabling the control of temperature, lights, electric shades, sound system, video surveillance, etc., remotely and monitored in real-time, providing the user with information on battery life and water-tank capacity, as well as overall energy generation-consumption ratios.

HOW DOES ARKUP LIVABLE YACHT FLOAT AND NAVIGATE? Flotation is ensured by Archimedes. Our livable yacht is equipped with two 136-horsepower (100-kilowatt) electric thrusters that rotate 180 degrees, allowing smooth navigation and maneuverability.

WHAT ABOUT COMMUNICATIONS AND ACCESS TO NETWORKS? Arkup livable yachts are equipped with long-range, high-speed internet and VHF. Satellite television and navigation systems are optional.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN ADVANTAGES OF THE ELECTRIC THRUSTERS? Cruising is silent and does not pollute the water; electric propulsion does not generate noise, smoke, or fumes and reduces vibrations disturbing marine life.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN SPECIFICATIONS OF THE VESSEL? 300 tons weight, 75×32 feet, 5-foot draft, 34-foot air draft, average speed 3knots with a max of 5-knot. The 8-millimeter steel hull is composed of 28 watertight compartments.

WHAT ARE THE SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS AND TECHNOLOGIES INCLUDED ONBOARD? Arkup livable yachts offer Low-e consumption design and materials as well as equipment for solar-energy generation and battery storage. Also included, are the systems for rainwater harvesting, water purification and storage, wastewater management, energy recovery, and ventilation.

WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM POWER GENERATION AND STORAGE CAPACITY? 36 kW of power generation from the solar roof and as much as one megawatt-hour of power storage ensure more than enough energy to operate the boat engines and livable features. The vessel can cruise 4 to 10h / 8 up to 20 NM, depending on the sun and time in the day.

ARE THE BUILDING MATERIALS ECO-SOURCED? Conception and design are eco-friendly. Sustainable and green materials are incorporated into the design as much as possible.

IS THE VESSEL 100-PERCENT SELF-SUSTAINING? Yes, it is. The vessel is zero-emission, carbon-neutral, energy-positive and collects rainwater, and treats it for onboard use.

WHY OFFER SUSTAINABLE OFF-GRID LIVABLE YACHTS? We strive to offer an alternative lifestyle to preserve the environment by avoiding fossil fuels. Our vessels and housing solutions are resistant to storm surges and hurricanes.

WHAT ARE THE HYDRAULIC PILINGS USED FOR? The automated hydraulic system ensures that the vessel is anchored and leveled in waters as deep as 20 feet (6 meters) and also enable lifting the vessel entirely out of the water for comfort and safety.

WHAT ABOUT MOTION SICKNESS ONBOARD? The stability provided by the hydraulic anchoring system is designed to avoid the movement that can cause motion sickness: This makes the Arkup overwater villas as comfortable as a house on the land.

CAN I GO FROM MIAMI TO KEY WEST, TAMPA, OR EVEN NEW YORK? Yes you can, depending on weather, which determines the daily range capacity (up to 8 hours / 20 NM).

ARE THERE ANY SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS TO OPERATE THE FULLY-ELECTRIC POWERED VESSEL? It requires the same boating experience as any other similar-sized recreational vessel. Thorough training and an extensive manual are provided to all customers. The owner can also hire our certified captains.

HOW MANY GUESTS AND CREW CAN STAY ON THE BOAT WHEN CRUISING OR AT ANCHOR? The Arkup livable yacht can accommodate six to eight people comfortably overnight. The livable yacht can operate as a recreational vessel with a limit of55 passengers (life vests required) or as charter vessels carrying as many as 12 passengers, according to the U.S. Coast Guard’s safety standards and regulations.

CAN I USE AN ARKUP LIVABLE YACHT AS A MOBILE BEACH HOUSE IN THE BAHAMAS OR SOMEWHERE ELSE? Yes, owners of foreign-registered boats (including the U.S.) may keep their vessels in the Bahamas (for instance) for one year without paying duty and may extend the one-year stay for two years by paying a fee of $500. The initial entry fee is $300 to clear Bahamas Customs and Immigration and to obtain a cruising permit. After two years, the vessel would have to depart the Bahamas for one month before applying for a new cruising permit.

HOW TO RECEIVE MAILS, PARCELS OR DELIVERIES? Marinas can provide concierge services or a mailbox or rent a slot at a local Post Office.

DOES THE VESSEL NEED A CAPTAIN TO OPERATE? With adequate boating experience, operating an Arkup Livable Yacht is relatively easy with the training provided by Arkup. A license and safety certification may be required locally.

WHAT KIND OF LICENSE AND INSURANCE ARE NEEDED? Arkup livable yachts are registered and insured as pleasure boats. To operate them, most U.S. states require a driver’s license and boating safety certification for recreational use. For other countries, Arkup can assist you.

CAN WATER SLIDES AND OTHER TOYS BE ADDED? Arkup livable yachts provide plenty of storage space for toys and recreational items. Make the ocean your playground!

HOW IS DISPOSAL OF SEWAGE AND WASTEWATER MANAGED ONBOARD ARKUP LIVABLE YACHTS? Vessel operators are required to retain their sewage discharges on-board for disposal at sea (beyond three miles from shore) or onshore at a pump-out facility. Black and gray waters are stored in a 3,700-gallon (14-cubic-meter) holding tank before being pumped out at either a marina or by a vessel designed to pump out waste. There are other options, such as using an approved U.S. Coast Guard Marine Sanitation Device (MSD) and then discharging within 3 miles offshore according to Clean Water Act regulations.

HOW LONG CAN THE LIVABLE YACHT REMAIN OFF-THE-GRID (WITHOUT POWER AND WATER)? Arkup livable yachts can remain off-the-grid all year long depending on the weather (sun exposure/rainfall) in tropical regions. Without any sun to charge the batteries, a full charge can provide electricity for all household needs for two to three days (without navigation).

The 4,000-gallon fresh-water tank ensures two weeks of self-sufficiency for six people without harvesting any rainwater. If needed, the vessel can connect to shore power to refill the freshwater tank (or add an optional water-maker).

IF I CHOOSE TO LIVE OFF-THE-GRID ON AN ARKUP LIVABLE YACHT, HOW DO I GET TO SHORE? There are many easy options. You can use a tender boat to get to shore via authorized public or private docks, or by renting a slip in a marina where you can dock while you’re on land. There are also many types of amphibious vehicles now available, making it possible to access land through a public boat ramp. Local companies offer water taxi services. Arkup also partners with ILandMiami (www.ilandmiami.com) to provide access by seaplane or helicopter.

WHAT IS THE APPROXIMATE OPERATING COST OF AN ARKUP LIVABLE YACHT?

The cost is much less than a yacht of equivalent size (the annual operating costs of a yacht are typically 10 percent of its value). Compared with a traditional house, the maintenance is roughly equivalent — there is no garden or swimming pool to maintain, but the livable yacht must be cleaned regularly. If the livable yacht is docked in a marina, the slip rental costs will generally be considerably lower than the property taxes on similar waterfront property. The hull can be easily inspected, washed, and maintained when the livable yacht is lifted above the waterline.

HOW ARE TRASH AND GARBAGE HANDLED ONBOARD?

Arkup livable yachts have a dedicated trash room equipped with a trash compactor and recycling bins. The compacted trash is disposed of ashore at public garbage facilities or marinas (a composter for organic waste is optional).

British designer Kelly Hoppen styled the interior of the first hull and has also created three designs for future owners to choose from. Described as “sophisticated and luxurious,” the open-plan living quarters offer sweeping, panoramic views, and multiple areas for entertaining. The main deck is adorned with a salon, a galley, a dining area, and a plush owner’s suite with a private terrace, while the lower deck is outfitted with five en suite staterooms and cabins for three crew.

The pilothouse isn’t the only singular feature on the 82, either. Pearl says the yacht is the only one of such a size to have a garage large enough to hold a Williams 395, a Sea-Doo Jet Ski, and other equipment.
