Is a Crew Member About to Get Kicked off 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht'?

PUBLISHED Mar. 30 2020, 9:29 p.m. ET

UPDATED Jun. 5 2020, 5:08 p.m. ET

After the absolute dumpster fire that was last season’s Below Deck, Below Deck Sailing Yacht has been relatively smooth sailing—even idyllic, for a Bravo show.

However, the new spinoff sailing series has just entered the midseason mark, which is when the drama usually tends to heat up with the cast swapping make-out buddies, losing their tempers with each other and generally being all-around messes.

In the teasers for the second half of the season, audiences were tantalized to see the possibility of a threesome brewing between Paget, Ciara and Georgia, and, of course, more ongoing drama between the most annoying couple on the boat, Adam and Jenna .

But what really caught a lot of people’s attention in the teasers was when Captain Shephard said to Jenna, “I would be very surprised if somebody few to Corfu with cocaine.”

Naturally, audiences are clamoring to figure out just who got caught with cocaine in their bag and whether that’s the end of their professional sailing career. Fans of the show will also remember the infamous drug incident from Below Deck’ s premiere episode, and the show’s no-nonsense policy when it comes to illegal substances on-board.

Keep reading while we dig into Below Deck 's cocaine scandals.

Which crew member on 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' got caught with with a stash of cocaine?

In the teaser scenes for Below Deck Sailing ’s March 30 episode, fans saw Captain Glenn confiding in Jenna, saying that he would be surprised if someone flew to Corfu with cocaine.

But in the next scene we see Captain Glenn rummaging through someone’s bag asking, “Is there anything in here that you don’t want me to find? What’s in here?” The captain ominously also adds that, “there might be a change of personnel.”

Although we don’t know exactly who the alleged drugs belong to, we do know that having illegal substances onboard is an extremely serious offense. If it turns out that Captain Glenn does find cocaine among any of the crew’s belongings, it’s safe to assume that they will be immediately fired and replaced on the boat.

What happened the last time someone found cocaine on the show?

Fans may recall the epic drug bust in the very first episode of Below Deck ’s Season 1 when stewardess Kat Held found a bag of white powder and a rolled-up dollar bill in a guest’s cabin. After Captain Lee was informed, he immediately turned his boat around to head to the dock, without even informing the charter guests until they were asked to leave the boat mid-charter .

Not only did the incident cement the no-nonsense tone of Captain’s Lee’s managing style with his crew and guests alike, it was also extremely entertaining television to watch a spoiled, rich charter guest like Johnny Eyelash (yes, that was his name) not realize what exactly was happening until he was unceremoniously kicked off the boat mid-charter.

"It was a tough situation to be in. On the one hand, we want clients to be happy. On the other hand, I don't want my boat to get boarded by the Coast Guard, and I don't want to go to jail for 25 years," Captain Lee said in his book, Running Against the Tide . "I made the decision to kick them off the boat.”

We can’t wait to see the rest of this season’s drama unfold on the Parsifal III. Tune in to Below Deck Sailing Yacht on Mondays at 9 p.m. on Bravo.

'Below Deck' Finale: Glenn's drug search goes awry, fans say Billy hid his stash and should have been tested

Bravo's 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' returned this week with its finale episode and it was explosive to say the least. It began with a drug investigation and ended with heartbreaks and goodbyes.

Previously, Captain Glenn Shephard was informed by his crew members — Jenna MacGillivray and Chris Miller — that they had spotted white powder under Billy's (one of the charter guests) nose. Based on their observations, Glenn had a chat with the guests and expressed an interest in searching their belongings, to which Billy readily agreed while he said: "I have got nothing to hide bro." Glenn rummaged through his luggage as Madison Stalker watched. It was already a stressful situation, which got out of hand when Glenn didn't find drugs on Billy. It put off Billy and his friends on vacation. Minutes later, Billy walked up to Glenn and confronted him for conducting the search. He made it a point to let Glenn know that he was offended.

Sure, it's humiliating to be accused of something one hasn't done but Glenn's hands are pretty tied here because that's the protocol — any suspicion would lead to a search. And being caught in possession of drugs on the boat have serious legal implications. The yacht could be confiscated and Glenn could lose his license. So, there was a lot at stake and it would only be foolish of Glenn if he ignored Jenna and Chris' accounts.

Meanwhile, fans think Glenn didn't find drugs on Billy because he had already snorted all of it or hid it somewhere it couldn't be found. "I think he already snorted them so Glenn would only find out if he did a drug test," a fan commented. Another shared: "We know damn well that they hid those drugs elsewhere. They wouldn’t stash them in luggage since interior goes in. They were put somewhere in that room though. That guest was snorting something at dinner the night prior. He lyin!! #BelowDeckSailing."

One more said, "For someone who’s claiming not to have drugs on board, Billy is acting a lot like someone who may have drugs on board #BelowDeckSailing #BelowDeckSailingYacht," a viewer expressed. "The captain may not have found any drugs, but that doesn’t mean the dude wasn’t using. His behavior speaks for itself.#BelowDeckSailing." Another user tweeted, "Billy claiming he's so offended and has no drugs on board... BECAUSE HE SNORTED THEM ALL #belowdecksailing."

Captain Glenn Shephard Addresses That "Drug Bust" Teased on Below Deck Sailing Yacht

"Any suspicion of drugs on board is a very serious thing that obviously has to be investigated," Captain Glenn Shephard said.

below deck sailing yacht drug bust

This season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht is about to get even crazier, if you can believe it. In a sneak peek of what's to come later on this season released in March, Captain Glenn Shephard can be seen telling chief stew Jenna MacGillivray , "I would be very surprised if someone flew to Corfu with cocaine."

How to Watch

Watch Below Deck Sailing Yacht on Peacock and the Bravo app .

The next thing we see is the captain looking through someone's bag. "Is there anything you don't want me to find?" Captain Glenn says in the clip. "What's in here?"

Of course, we all want to know what's about to go down on Below Deck Sailing Yacht . Apparently, the moment is so good, Captain Glenn doesn't want to spoil it.

When asked for a tease of what appears to be a "drug bust" coming up later this season during his April 13 appearance on the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen: @ Home After Show , Captain Glenn replied, "All I can say is tune in and see what happens."

However, Captain Glenn did explain why it's so important to act immediately if the crew has any reason to believe there are illegal substances on board. "Any suspicion of drugs on board is a very serious thing that obviously has to be investigated," he said (clip above). "I could lose my license. The boat could be confiscated. I could go to jail. It's a very serious thing, so yeah, you have to take it seriously."

Captain Lee Rosbach Wishes Cameras Didn't Capture This Below Deck Moment

Captain Lee Rosbach found himself in a similar situation when the crew discovered a substance they suspected to be cocaine in the charter guests' possession after they boarded the Honor in the very first episode of Below Deck ever back in Season 1. The Below Deck boss had no choice but to end the charter early and have the guests disembark the yacht .

"It was a tough situation to be in. On the one hand, we want clients to be happy. On the other hand, I don't want my boat to get boarded by the Coast Guard, and I don't want to go to jail for 25 years," Captain Lee wrote of the experience in his book Running Against the Tide: True Tales from the Stud of the Sea . "I made the decision to kick them off the boat."

What we didn't see during the episode was that Captain Lee also assigned a crew member to make sure the charter guests didn't hide anything on board as they packed all of their stuff up.

"After they'd left, I then told the crew to take the boat apart. I didn't want any hidden stashes left on my boat. If I found any powder I couldn't account for, it was going over the side," Captain Lee recalled. "It was a hell of a lot of work, we didn't find anything, and we lost some clients, but it was more than worth it to get that kind of garbage off my boat."

We'll have to wait and see what drama is coming up for Captain Glenn and the rest of the Parsifal III crew as this season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht continues Mondays at 9/8c. Watch a sneak peek, below.

‘Below Deck’ guests facing sea of legal trouble in prescription drug plot, authorities say

A doctor who appeared on a hit Bravo reality show was arrested on Long Island — accused of stealing the identities of cast members of the show in a scheme to obtain prescription drugs, according to law enforcement officials.

Dr. Francis Martinis — a urologist in Fort Salonga — and his wife, Jessica Martinis, who both appeared on the Bravo reality-show franchise “Below Deck,” are accused of allegedly using the personal information of other cast members to write bogus prescriptions for oxycodone.

Investigators said the scheme started to unfold earlier this year, when Jessica Martinis went to a pharmacy in Kings Park in an attempt to fill a bogus oxycodone prescription in January. According to those officials, the handwritten prescription raised concerns, prompting a pharmacist to call police.

A subsequent investigation revealed that the doctor had sent dozens of prescriptions for oxycodone to Suffolk County pharmacies over a two-year period, law enforcement officials said. Many of these prescriptions were allegedly fake — written under the names of two “Below Deck” cast members.

Investigators said that Jessica Martinis would pick up the prescriptions and pay in cash as part of the alleged plot.

The duo was arrested in May and charged with eight counts of criminal sale of controlled substance and falsifying business records, law enforcement officials said.

Investigators are not revealing whether they believe the couple was using or reselling the drugs, or both.

Former New York Homeland Security Director Michael Balboni said the allegations are serious, especially amid an ongoing national addiction and overdose crisis.

“He abused the celebrity position that he had on that ship to take the identities of his crew members — if that is proven — and then use that to buy drugs,” Balboni said. “That is a common scheme for a common criminal.”

The pair were among the guests who chartered Sirocco, a luxury yacht that set sail on the French Riviera in 2019 and had part of their trip documented for “Below Deck Mediterranean.” The doctor was a guest once again the following year, this time on another “Below Deck” spinoff, “Below Deck Sailing Yacht.” The series documented life on a 180-foot sailboat that cruised the Ionian Sea.

Following their appearances in the franchise, the doctor-and-wife duo attended promotional events with other crew members.

Peter A. Crusco, the attorney representing the couple, said his clients pleaded not guilty.  "The evidence will show the charges are bogus and cannot be substantiated," he said.

Bravo, which is owned by NBCUniversal, the parent company of NBC News, did not respond to a request for comment.

NY doctor and wife who appeared on Bravo’s ‘Below Deck’ charged with fake opioid prescription scheme

  • Copy Link copied

NEW YORK (AP) — A doctor and his wife who appeared on the Bravo reality series “Below Deck” were arraigned in New York on Thursday on charges that they filled out bogus opioid prescriptions using the names of cast members from the show.

Urologist Francis Martinis and his wife, Jessica Martinis, of Fort Salonga, New York, were each charged with criminal sale of a prescription for a controlled substance by a practitioner and falsifying business records.

They appeared in state court in Riverhead on Long Island after first being arrested in May. Both pleaded not guilty, according to their attorney. The couple were released without bail and are due back in court Jan. 25.

“Below Deck,” which premiered on Bravo in 2013, follows crew members and the passengers they cater to aboard a luxury yacht.

The Martinises appeared on the spinoff “Below Deck Mediterranean” in 2019. Francis Martinis also appeared on “Below Deck Sailing Yacht” the following year.

The couple’s attorney, Peter Crusco, called the charges bogus.

“My clients have pled not guilty and are presumed innocent, and look forward to their day in court to clear their names,” Crusco said in a text message.

Prosecutors said Francis Martinis, 55, transmitted prescriptions for oxycodone to Long Island pharmacies with the names of “Below Deck” cast members listed as the purported patients. Jessica Martinis, 38, then picked up the drugs and paid in cash, prosecutors said.

Jessica Martinis first raised red flags in January 2023 when she tried to fill a handwritten prescription for oxycodone in someone else’s name, prosecutors said.

An investigation turned up evidence of numerous fake oxycodone prescriptions that Francis Martinis had written with the names of cast members from the reality show, authorities said.

None of the oxycodone was actually intended for the people named in the prescriptions, prosecutors said.

“Physicians are held to a high standard, as they take an oath to uphold a number of professional ethical standards when they begin their careers,” Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney said in a statement. “The conduct Dr. Martinis allegedly engaged in with his wife not only violated this oath, but it also violated the law.”

Frank Tarentino, the federal Drug Enforcement Agency’s special agent in charge for New York, said, “These arrests are a reminder that a doctor’s illicit drug diversion can lead to irreparable harm like the drug overdoses and poisonings currently plaguing our nation.”

‘Below Deck’ Guests Caught in Prescription Drug Plot, Says Authorities

Dr. francis martinis allegedly wrote false prescriptions for oxycodone, some in 'bravo deck' stars' names, and his wife jessica picked them up from new york pharmacies. their lawyer calls the charges 'bogus'.

A Long Island urologist and his wife, who appeared on Bravo's Below Deck as guests, are expected to appear in court on Dec. 14 regarding an alleged prescription scam. Dr. Francis Martinis and Jessica were arrested in May, after police in Suffolk County began investigating them, according to NBC News , who was first to report on the story.

The couple allegedly stole cast members ' names and personal information to get oxycodone prescriptions, according to the outlet.

They were taken into custody after Jessica entered a Kings Park pharmacy to try and get the prescription filled in January. A pharmacist called police after the handwritten prescription sparked red flags.

Authorities discovered that Francis had written oxycodone prescriptions for pharmacies all over Suffolk County for two years. Jessica then allegedly went to pharmacies and paid cash to pick up the prescription. Some were for the names of two stars of the reality series.

Authorities have not disclosed if the couple used and/or sold the drugs.

Francis and Jessica have each been charged with eight counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance and falsifying business records, according to New York State Court's website.

"My clients have pled not guilty and are presumed innocent and look forward to their day in Court to clear their names," Peter Crusco, the couple's attorney, said in a statement to The Messenger. "The evidence will show the charges are bogus and cannot be substantiated."

The Messenger also reached out to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office and the Suffolk Police Department for comment. The Messenger also reached out to Bravo.

Francis has made two appearances on the franchise . He and Jessica appeared on Below Deck Mediterranean during a trip on the French Riviera in 2019. Francis returned in 2020 on Below Deck Sailing Yacht. The pair also went to promotional events with crew members.

This post has been updated with a statement from the couple's attorney Peter Crusco.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht’s mid-season teaser features romantic woes, a potential cocaine bust, and a personnel change

Below Deck Sailing Yacht teaser.

Bravo dropped the mid-season teaser for Below Deck Sailing Yacht, proving the drama on the Parsifal III has only just begun. The video clip is full of romantic woes, a potential drug bust, and a possible personnel change.

It is hard to believe the premiere season of the latest Below Deck spin-off  is half over. The new cast and crew have taken some getting used to by die-hard fans, but many viewers are sticking with the show.

Crew tension and romantic drama

Chief stew Jenna MacGillivray arrogantly tells second stew Madison Stalker that she is the one carrying Madison and third stew, Georgia Grobler. The remark does not sit well with Madison, especially since Jenna spends all of her time romancing chef Adam Glick.

In the confessional, Madison loses it, claiming Jenna is not professional. Later, Adam accuses Madison of causing unnecessary drama. Viewers know he and Jenna have been bashing Georgia and Madison since day one.

Trouble in paradise began brewing with Adam and Jenna  the second they went from flirting to French kissing. She wants to get physical, he does not, and that is only the beginning of their problems.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Below Deck (@belowdeckbravo)

Adam and Jenna aren’t the only couple on the rocks. Yachtie duo Paget Berry and Ciara Duggan are on the verge of splitting up, and it may have everything to do with Georgia.

At one point in the clip, the third stew states that she agreed to a “threesome” with the couple. Plus, fans know Georgia has been extremely flirty with Paget for the first half of the season, and that will continue.

Potential drug bust

In what may be one of the most shocking allegations on a Below Deck franchise, Captain Glenn Shepard is forced to foresee a potential drug bust. Based on the Bravo footage, it appears the captain is referring to one of his crew members.

Captain Glenn tells Jenna that he doesn’t think someone would fly to Greece with cocaine. However, later he is seen rummaging through bags. It seems unlikely that the captain would randomly go through charter guests’ bags looking for drugs, so the drug search is likely involving the crew’s things.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Below Deck Sailing Yacht (@belowdecksailing)

Captain Glenn makes a possible personnel change

The ending to the preview clip features Captain Glenn looking at his crew, letting them know a personnel change could be coming. Perhaps it has to do with the drugs, or someone really screws up on the Parsifal III.

Parker has been annoying the entire crew. Captain Glenn already had to have a chat with him. The footage shows that there is more of the same with Parker, and the rest of the crew, in upcoming episodes of the Bravo series. Maybe the deckhand gets the boot.

It is going to be a wild ride for the rest of the season on Below Deck Sailing Yacht. Viewers better buckle up because the drama is kicking up a notch.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht airs Mondays at 9/8c on Bravo.

‘Below Deck’ couple accused of stealing cast identities in drug scheme

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

A doctor who was featured on the popular Bravo reality TV show Below Deck has been accused of stealing the identities of his fellow cast members to buy prescription drugs.

Dr Francis Martinis, a urologist from Fort Salonga, New York, and his wife, Jessica Martinis, have been accused of using the personal details of others who appeared on Below Deck to create fake prescriptions for oxycodone.

The District Attorney’s Office for Suffolk County said in a release that their alleged drug scheme started to unravel after Ms Martinis went to a pharmacy in Kings Park to pick up oxycodone with a bogus handwritten prescription.

The pharmacist had doubts that the prescription was real and called the police.

Further investigations allegedly revealed that the doctor had sent dozens of prescriptions for oxycodone to different pharmacies around Suffolk County in New York over two years.

Mr Martinis was allegedly using the name of two Below Deck cast members on prescriptions that the doctor would electronically transmit to pharmacies, which would then be picked up by his wife using cash, the release states.

“Doctors are supposed to be trusted members of the community and with that trust comes a tremendous amount of personal and professional responsibility,” said District Attorney Raymond Tierney said in the release.

“Physicians are held to a high standard, as they take an oath to uphold a number of professional ethical standards when they begin their careers. The conduct Dr. Martinis allegedly engaged in with his wife not only violated this oath, but it also violated the law.”

The couple were both arrested back in May and were charged with eight counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance and falsifying business records, law enforcement told NBC.

It is unclear what the couple was doing with the prescription drugs once they obtained them.

The couple appeared in Suffolk Criminal Court on Long Island on Thursday morning.

Peter A Crusco, the attorney representing the Martinis, told The Independent his clients pleaded not guilty.

“My clients have pled not guilty and are presumed innocent, and look forward to their day in Court to clear their names,” Mr Crusco said.

“The evidence will show the charges are bogus and cannot be substantiated in the crucible of the Courtroom.”

The couple gained a name for themselves when they appeared on Below Deck back in 2019 when they had their yacht trip filmed for Below Deck Mediterranian , then Mr Martinis appeared on the show again on Below Deck Sailing Yacht.

The show details the lives of the staff members aboard luxury yachts and how they deal with their high-status and very rich customers out at sea.

‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’: Did This Dude Bring Drugs on The Boat?

'The Real Housewives Of Dubai' Sets Season 2 Premiere Date On Bravo

The sails might not be the only thing getting high next week on Below Deck Sailing Yacht . In the preview for the next episode of the Bravo series, we see Captain Glenn get even madder than he was when some oil spilled on the boat, after learning there could be an illegal substance on board.

During the last charter of the season, one of the guests is seen asking her friend, “Are you okay?” and explaining, “His eyes are rolling back in his head.”

We then hear Captain Glenn say, “I would be very surprised if somebody flew to Corfu with cocaine,” and stating, “If there are illegal substances on board, I have to do something.” He goes on to say, “He’s in deep shit if there’s drugs on board in his cabin,” and we hear a loud sniff from behind a guest room door. Uh oh, looks like this bro’s paddleboarding fun is about to come crashing down.

We’ll have to wait until next week to find out exactly what happens, but fans of the franchise will remember this isn’t the first — or the last — time that drugs on the boat were an issue. In Season 1 of Below Deck , stewardess Kat Held found a bag of white power and a rolled-up dollar bill in a guest’s cabin, causing Captain Lee to turn that boat right around and kick their butts off of it mid-charter. And in the latest trailer for Below Deck Mediterranean Season 5, premiering on Bravo Monday, June 1, Captain Sandy is seen having a stern conversation where she says “It’s been brought to my attention that you have drugs on board.” Yikes! Come on people, you’re on a beautiful yacht — you should just be high on life!

Below Deck Sailing Yacht airs Monday at 9pm ET/PT on Bravo.

Captain Sandy Teases Drug Bust & More on Explosive New Season of Below Deck Mediterranean

How would you describe season five of Below Deck Mediterranean in just four words?

"Explosion, drama, heartfelt experience!" Captain Sandy Yawn tells E! News exclusively ahead of the hit Bravo show's return this Monday night. "For me, it's the most difficult season I've ever done but the most rewarding if that makes sense."

One of the biggest challenges for Captain Sandy is their 184-foot mega yacht The Wellington, the largest in Below Deck history.

"My challenge just isn't the crew, but that's the biggest part. The boat for me was challenging, you'll see," Yawn explains. "And I have all female leaders which is great so I'm looking forward to finding out how well did those boys listen to Malia. That's what I want to know."

Craziest Guests on Below Deck

Season five, which sets sail in Mallorca, Spain, will see Captain Sandy's crew lead by two female heads of department: Chief Stew Hannah Ferrier leads the interior while Bosun Malia White oversees the exterior crew.

"It's rare for a female Bosun. Chief Stew is always normal. All the women get stuck inside which is unfortunate for the women," Yawn shares. "However, our lovely network Bravo makes it so we can have Bosuns and I love that part because Malia is going to show me if she…I believe she has it in her. So I get to witness it this season. Just like you do for the first time and go, 'Wow, that's how she handled that.' I can't wait for those moments."

Below Deck Med 's Captain Sandy on How Coronavirus Is Changing the Yachting Industry

As Below Deck Med fans know, the teaser for season five previewed a shocking potential drug bust by Captain Sandy.

"It's a part of yachting. So I always just say, I don't make the law. The maritime coastguard agency makes the law," Yawn explains. "So that means the law is no crew members can absolutely do drugs at all. If they're prescription drugs, they have to be logged in. They have be monitored. We're responsible for lives. When it comes to the guests. Well, I just say, 'Hey, mister primary client, we can't have drugs on board, you gotta tell your friends get the drugs off.' And then I call his broker and I inform them and then I call the management company and I inform them. So I stick to protocol. You know, I don't look through people's stuff, I just say if they don't comply, then I have to drive to the dock and [take] them off the boat. And it's an unfortunate thing for all of us, but largely most people follow the guidelines that are set forth by the maritime coastguard agency."

Aside from illegal activities, Captain Sandy says the crew will honor any guest's over-the-top demands on this season of Below Deck Med .

"I don't think there's any crazy requests on a yacht because that's what we expect. We are in the service business," she says. "So whatever you want, that's within legal limits, we're gonna actually do our utmost to make it happen. It's where dreams come true. That's what we do."

Below Deck Mediterranean premieres Monday, June 1 at 9 p.m. on Bravo. Catch up on Below Deck Med here !

Below Deck charter guests accused of stealing cast members' identities as part of opioid scheme

Urologist Francis Martinis and wife Jessica are in troubled legal waters.

Jessica is a staff writer at Entertainment Weekly, where she covers TV, movies, and pop culture. Her work has appeared in Bustle, NYLON, Cosmopolitan, InStyle, and more. She lives in California with her dog.

A couple who appeared as charter guests on episodes of the hit Bravo reality franchise Below Deck are setting sail for court after being indicted on allegations of falsely using the names of cast members in a scheme to obtain prescription drugs.

Dr. Francis Martinis, a urologist in Fort Salonga, N.Y., and his wife, Jessica Martinis, were charged with criminal sale of a prescription for a controlled substance and falsifying business records in Suffolk County on Thursday, the district attorney's office announced .

Prosecutors allege that Francis, 55, electronically transmitted numerous prescriptions for oxycodone to pharmacies under the names of former Below Deck cast members, and that Jessica, 38, would pick up the prescriptions and pay with cash. But the prescriptions were never intended for the purported patients — none of whom resided on Long Island — identified on the orders, prosecutors say.

Fred Jagueneau/Bravo

The DA's office said the scheme came to light in January after Jessica tried to fill a hand-written prescription for oxycodone issued by her husband, when prescriptions are often issued electronically. When the pharmacist noticed she was not the patient listed, they contacted the Suffolk County Police Department.

The Martinises pleaded not guilty and are currently on supervised release. They're scheduled to be back in court Jan. 25.

"Doctors are supposed to be trusted members of the community," Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney said in a statement. "Physicians are held to a high standard, as they take an oath to uphold a number of professional ethical standards when they begin their careers. The conduct Dr. Martinis allegedly engaged in with his wife not only violated this oath, but it also violated the law."

Peter Crusco, an attorney for the couple, called the charges "bogus" when reached for comment by EW, adding that his clients "look forward to their day in court to clear their names."

Bravo declined to comment.

The Below Deck shows follow the interior and deck crews of luxury ships and the affluent passengers they cater to during a charter season. The Martinises appeared on the spinoff Below Deck Mediterranean , and Francis also returned on Below Deck Sailing Yacht .

NY Doctor and Wife Who Appeared on Bravo's 'Below Deck' Charged With Fake Opioid Prescription Scheme

NY Doctor and Wife Who Appeared on Bravo's 'Below Deck' Charged With Fake Opioid Prescription Scheme

“Physicians are held to a high standard, as they take an oath to uphold a number of professional ethical standards when they begin their careers," Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney said in a statement. "The conduct Dr. Martinis allegedly engaged in with his wife not only violated this oath, but it also violated the law.”

Frank Tarentino, the federal Drug Enforcement Agency's special agent in charge for New York, said, "These arrests are a reminder that a doctor’s illicit drug diversion can lead to irreparable harm like the drug overdoses and poisonings currently plaguing our nation.”

A representative for NBCUniversal, Bravo’s parent company, declined to comment.

Who is Carrying Drugs on Below Deck?

Shuvrajit Das Biswas of Who is Carrying Drugs on Below Deck?

As far as reality shows go, Bravo network’s ‘ Below Deck ’ is undoubtedly a stand-out due to its rather unique premise. The show chronicles the lives of the many crew members who live and work onboard a mega-yacht during the charter season and brings to viewers the many trials and tribulations these crew members go through as they try and keep up with the changing demands of their employers. ‘Below Deck’ made its debut in 2013, and throughout the seven seasons that have aired so far, has seen plenty of explosive controversies.

Among such controversies has been the issue of drugs. Indeed, in the past, there have been instances of illegal drug use by both customers and crew members. In fact, ‘Below Deck’ creator and producer Mark Cronin admitted back in 2018 that he had had to handle a crew member who had a serious cocaine addiction! While the use of drugs on luxury pleasure vessels and by crew members is neither uncommon nor shocking, it does create some moments of genuine drama on the show.

The same is true for the two spin-off shows – ‘Below Deck: Mediterranean’ and ‘Below Deck: Sailing Yacht’ – that have spawned on the back of the original show’s success. As it stands, ‘Below Deck: Mediterranean’ is on its fifth season, and this time, there’s a lot of juicy drug-related drama unfolding below decks. Season 5 of ‘Below Deck: Mediterranean’ set sail in Mallorca, Spain, and it appears that a major drug bust by Captain Sandy Yawn is on the cards. Are you wondering who might be carrying drugs? So are we, and here’s everything we know about the potential drug bust so far.

Who Has Drugs on Below Deck: Mediterranean?

The excitement around the potential drug bust started when Captain Sandy was caught on camera, speaking sternly to an unseen person and saying it was brought to her attention that the individual was carrying drugs on the vessel. The informer, it is known, is Malia White , but the offender, as of now, remains unknown. But, if the events of Season 5 are anything to go by, we might have a suspect on our hands.

In the last episode of ‘Below Deck: Mediterranean’, one of the crew members, Hannah Ferrier , suffered what appeared to be a panic attack, following the departure of her dear friend Chef Kiko from the boat. At the time of her panic attack, Hannah locked herself inside a washroom, and a concerned Malia was seen asking her if she needed anything to which Hannah replied that she needs Valium. Taken aback by Hannah’s request and well-aware of the stringent laws about drug use by crew members, Malia was then seen asking, isn’t it a prescription drug.

Interestingly, Malia’s question remained unanswered, and Hannah replied by saying that her panic attack would “pass in a second.” Immediately afterward, a sound of something like the plastic cap of a bottle is heard dropping on to the bathroom floor.

While this instance in itself is inconclusive, it could indicate that Hannah might have used prescription drugs without logging it and informing Captain Sandy as per maritime laws. Further, following the episode, Malia put up a lengthy Instagram post explaining the stringent regulations governing drug use among crew members, which could be yet another hint. See it here.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CDdfcZvg7_Q/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Since we know that Malia and Hannah are roommates, and we know that Captain Sandy received evidence of drugs from Malia via photos taken on a phone, the seemingly innocuous incident between Malia and Hannah could have a lot of explosive consequences.

The Below Deck Sailing Yacht Crew Faces Romantic Strife & a Drug Bust in Midseason Tease

Below deck sailing yacht faces choppy waters as a love triangle, breakup and drug bust is all teased in an all-new midseason promo.

There are choppy waters ahead for the Below Deck Sailing Yacht crew.

As seen in the exclusive midseason tease above, the drama has only just started for Captain Glenn Shephard and his Parsifal III team. We're talking love triangles, breakups and a potential drug bust.

Yep, you read that correctly.

For starters, Chief Stewardess Jenna MacGillivray lays into Madison Stalker as she feels she's "carrying" the 2nd stewardess, as well as, Georgia Grobler . Ironically, Madison doesn't think Jenna's being all that professional.

Why? Per Madison, Jenna's too busy chasing a romance with chef Adam Glick .

"I get it! You want to suck Adam's d--k," Madison snaps in a confessional. "But also, like be professional."

(Spoiler: Adam is seen telling Jenna "it's over" later in the teaser. Man, oh man.)

This isn't the only issue Madison has—who is accused of creating drama—as she complains about being surrounded by couples. Yet, is yachtie couple Paget Berry and Ciara Duggan at risk of splitting up?

In the just released footage, Ciara and Paget are seen flirting with Georgia. "We'll see you later," Ciara even mouths to Georgia.

During this flirtation, Georgia ponders if she's "agreeing to a threesome." This romantic situation may not turn out well, since Georgia later seemingly declares her feelings for Paget.

"I'm very glad to have met you," she admits to Paget. "You mean a lot more to me than I think you realize."

After Captain Glenn stops the Parsifal III from fully capsizing, he then is forced to oversee a potential drug bust.

"I would be very surprised if somebody flew to Corfu with cocaine," Captain Glenn confides in Jenna.

Regardless, he is then seen rummaging through bags and inquiring about contraband items. He even goes as far as to threaten a personnel change.

For all of this drama and more, be sure to watch the Below Deck Sailing Yacht midseason tease above.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on Bravo!

Screen Rant

Signs captain lee was ready to leave below deck (why i think he wanted out).

Below Deck's longtime Captain Lee Rosbach has been a massive presence on the series, but was he ready to leave the show when he finally departed?

  • Captain Lee was a pillar of strength for the crew, but his health issues pushed him to consider stepping back from Below Deck.
  • Tragedy struck Captain Lee's family when he lost his son to a drug overdose, leading him to re-prioritize his life with his wife.
  • After a long career in the yachting industry, Captain Lee, nearing 75 years old, decided it was time to retire and be with his family.

Below Deck ’s longtime Captain Lee Rosbach may have stepped away from the series, but it’s likely he was ready to leave the show after such a long time commanding the St. David. Captain Lee began his time on Below Deck early, and the Captain changed the franchise for the better. Below Deck season 2 introduced Captain Lee, and his decades of experience created a successful working environment that his crew was happy to be a part of. While there were issues intermittently throughout his time on the series, typically Below Deck crew members are thankful Captain Lee was their Captain.

For Captain Lee, who began his time on Below Deck at 64 years old, his work aboard the St. David was something he’d been preparing for throughout his career. Having worked in the yachting industry for over 30 years, Captain Lee knew he was capable of leading and handling the crew, and the added pressure of being on a reality TV series didn’t seem to make a difference for the Captain over the years. As the king of one-liners, Captain Lee offered levity during his time on the series, which made it shocking when he chose to leave Below Deck.

20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now

Captain lee's ongoing health issues, he needed to prioritize his health.

Throughout Below Deck , various crew members have chosen to leave to prioritize their health after getting injured aboard the St. David, or finding themselves dealing with a past injury. While Captain Lee isn't just another crew member, the taxing nature of captaining a superyacht has become too much on his body from time to time. As an older man, Captain Lee had already been dealing with some issues from the physically demanding work he chose before Below Deck season 2. His time as the Captain of the superyacht simply added stress to his painful injuries , which made things infinitely difficult.

Captain Lee had to address what he was dealing with to his crew during Below Deck season 10 , as it was obvious he was struggling. The Captain explained that he was having difficulties with his mobility due to a nerve issue in his leg, causing him to limp. Painful and irritating, Captain Lee suffered nerve damage after having back surgery in 2021 , but he wasn't aware of the depth of the problem until he began working again. While Captain Lee had been injured after a fall in 2020, his nerve injury pushed him to genuinely consider taking a step back.

Captain Lee Seemed Less Excited To Be There

He was struggling to stay motivated.

As an older man, Captain Lee has spent the majority of his adult life working aboard a boat . Though the circumstances have always been more in his control than out, the fact that he's been aboard a vessel on and off for over 30 years has to be majorly taxing. Working in such a similar environment for a long time would be draining for anyone, but knowing he was having physical issues while working in similar spaces throughout his career made things tough on Captain Lee. He struggled to remain motivated and engaged during his final seasons of Below Deck .

Captain Lee Went Through A Tragedy

He tragically lost his son.

While Captain Lee has been a fixture on Below Deck for years, things have sometimes been challenging for the leader of the St. David. Leaving his family behind for weeks and months at a time has never been easy for Captain Lee, but things became difficult in 2019 when tragedy struck the Rosbach family. Captain Lee and his wife, Mary Ann Lee, share five children who were all fully grown before he began appearing on Below Deck . Captain Lee was proud of his children, but they were only mentioned a few times on the series, which focused on his work.

In 2019, Captain Lee learned that his son, Joshua Lee Rosbach, had died of a drug overdose. Joshua, who had taken after his father and worked aboard yachts for a living, was 42 years old when he died from fentanyl poisoning. Heartbroken, Captain Lee and Mary Ann mourned the loss of their son with the rest of their family, but things changed forever after losing their beloved son. While Captain Lee returned to Below Deck after the tragedy , something had changed within him and many felt a shift in his presence, which could've pushed him to leave the St. David.

Captain Lee Missed His Wife

He wanted to spend his golden years with his partner.

After losing their son, Captain Lee and Mary Ann likely began to re-prioritize their lives as a couple. Though they had a family to consider, their children were all adults and Captain Lee leaving Mary Ann behind during charter seasons was no longer something either of them felt was necessary. Financially, it was probably easier for the couple to manage with the success of Below Deck . Captain Lee was a beloved figure on the series, being invited to do other shows like Watch What Happens Live to discuss his experiences. Other appearances were exciting, but likely demanding for the Captain.

Though Captain Lee and Mary Ann often share what's going on in their lives with their followers, they keep quiet about how tough it has likely been for them to be apart so frequently. While Captain Lee's lifestyle has made it so the couple has probably gotten used to him traveling around, his time on Below Deck was likely becoming more taxing to their relationship as they both got older. For Captain Lee, who has been open about how much he enjoys being with Mary Ann, deciding to spend his golden years with his wife was probably an easy choice .

Captain Lee Is Getting Older

He is nearly 75 years old.

Though Captain Lee has been able to navigate his way through life aboard the St. David for many years, his career has been far longer than his time on Below Deck . After nearly 40 years in the yachting industry, Captain Lee deserved a break. While he was still able to work, his injury was beginning to flare up and cause issues, and his family wanted him back at home again. Captain Lee's age wasn't a detriment to his work, but he may have finally wanted to retire and spend time at home relaxing, away from the pressures of Below Deck .

Below Deck airs Mondays on Bravo at 9 p.m. EDT, then streams the following day on Peacock.

Below Deck is a popular reality TV franchise that focuses on a group of crew members as they work on luxurious yachts and cater to their client's needs. After the original series proved to be a success, Bravo developed a handful of spinoff shows including Below Deck Selling Yacht, Below Deck Adventure, Below Deck Down Under, and Below Deck Mediterranean.

Below Deck Lost Two Crew Members In One Episode, And As A Fan I’m Honestly Shocked This Isn’t The First Time That Happened

This week saw a few castaways from the St. David crew.

Well, it looks like there's a little more wiggle room down in the crew quarters of the St. David. That's because this week's episode of Below Deck (which you can catch up on with a Peacock subscription ) saw the shocking early departure of not one but two onboard staffers. However, what's even more surprising is that this isn't the first time that's happened in Bravo's yacht-focused reality franchise.

After that widely despised eighth season of Below Deck Mediterranean , it looks like the O.G. Below Deck decided to fire up the engines where the drama's concerned for Season 11, with both bosun Jared Woodin and stew Cat Baugh ending their charter seasons earlier. However, only one of those early exits was voluntary.

Joining a long line of fired Below Deck crew—including Captain Sandy's number one hater Hannah Ferrier , accidental mustard-gas concocter Elizabeth Frankini and the exhaustingly argumentative Lexi Wilson , among many others—Jared Woodin was fired by Captain Kerry Titheradge due to bad behavior in the March 18th episode on the 2024 TV schedule , titled "Cat's Out of the Bag." Jared's dismissal came after he drunkenly barged into a crew cabin and berated deckhand Kyle Stillie for spilling loose tobacco near the boat's hot tub.

During the episode, Captain Kerry said this about Jared's inappropriate, over-the-top reaction and poor treatment of his crewmate:

This is the second time you've gone on the piss and you've had bad behavior. You're in a leadership role. You can't be acting like that. You gotta be above the fray. The way that you're treating these guys is not acceptable, and we've had discussions, and I've tried to guide you, I've shown you compassion. But, you've got shit going on, mate. You're your own worst enemy right now. You need to depart the vessel.

The Aussie captain was sympathetic, however, to the mental struggles Jared was clearly going through, and he told him that remaining on the boat would be "a disservice" to his mental health.

The topic of having a "good headspace" while working onboard also came up for Cat Baugh, whose own unexpected departure came after the stewardess received a distressing call from a friend back home in America. Deciding to put her own mental health first and go be there for her friend, Baugh put in her resignation with chief stew Fraser Olender and Captain Kerry, both of whom were supportive of her decision. Baugh said of her exit:

I wish I could have stayed. But, the thing is, there's no way I could have. This is too much. I need to be with the people [who] need me, and also, on this boat, I'm at a breaking point. I need to protect my mental health. It's like my support system is at home, not here.

Losing two crew members in one episode is surprising, sure, but not unprecedented. On Below Deck Down Under , the Aussie spin-off of the reality series, bosun Luke Jones was fired by Captain Jason Chambers for drunken misconduct after trying to get in a stew's bed naked while she was inebriated and unconscious. Shortly after, stew Laura Bileskalne's contract was also terminated for making repeating unwanted advances on a male deckhand. Below Deck veteran Lee Rosbach praised Chambers's "superb" handling of the crew misconduct.

So, as you can see, while this situation was shocking to many, it's by no means the first time it's happened.

Despite the two exits, there's still plenty more Below Deck to go, so tune in to Season 11 on Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo to see if there will be any more crew shake-ups aboard the St. David .
