Want to visit Konnos Beach? It’s located east of Ayia Napa and is one of the most beautiful beaches in Cyprus . Konnos Bay is home to a secluded beach with calm crystal clear waters, which makes it ideal for families and snorkeling. 

While Konnos Beach has become more famous in recent years, it’s still quieter than Nissi Beach and Fig Tree Bay. It’s also a bit smaller and stretches about 200 meters. However, Konnos Bay is a lovely place and is characterized by its golden-white sand and the water that has various shades of blue colors. 

Konnos Beach is one of my favorite beaches along with Makronissos beach , and I can highly recommend you to go here for a relaxing day on the beach. Just 2 kilometers south, you have the famous Cavo Greko as well, where you can explore Sea Caves and go hiking.  

More about Konnos Beach

Konnos Beach is a secluded beach that is situated in Konnos Bay, about 4 kilometers east of Ayia Napa, and 2 kilometers north of Cape Greco. The beach is famous for its various shades of blue water and golden-white sand.

It also has ideal swimming conditions with little to no waves, which makes it a popular family beach. The Konnos beach is about 200 meters long and has all the facilities you need, including sunbeds and umbrellas as well as toilets and a beach bar that plays music throughout the day.

Konnos Bay Beach is known for its cleanliness and water quality and has been awarded the Blue Flag status. Between April and October, there are also lifeguards on duty. 

If you get boring from sunbathing, you can always go snorkeling or try some of the various watersports that are available here. The snorkeling is nice, and you can definitely spot some fishes. The visibility is amazing with crystal clear water and almost no waves at all. 

In the near proximity, there is also a great selection of hotels and resorts as well as convenience stores and restaurants.

How to get to Konnos Bay

It’s easy to get to Konnos Bay by car, but visitors can also come here by bus number 102 which goes from Paralimni to Ayia Napa with stops in Protaras as well as Konnos Bay.

The bus departs every 20 minutes every day of the week, so you will never have to wait a long time before the next bus comes by. Hop off the bus at the stop called Konnou 1, and from there you’ll just have a short walk down to the beach. 

From Protaras

The journey from Protaras to Konnos Bay takes about 12 minutes by car, and you just follow the Protaras Avenue – Kavo Greco Avenue road and continue on Kavo Greko Road, and take the 2nd exit in the roundabout. Continue straight and take the exit to Konnos Beach road. 

It’s very easy to drive here, but I still recommend to use Google Maps. 

From Ayia Napa

The drive from Ayia Napa takes about 15 minutes, and you basically just drive east toward Cape Greco, but instead of taking the exit to the peninsula, you continue straight and then onto Konnos Beach road.

From Larnaca

Take the highway A3 and drive to Ayia Napa, and then follow the same directions as from there. It takes about 50 minutes to drive from Larnaca to Konnos Bay.

I recommend the Grecian Park Hotel , which is situated within walking distance to the beach. It’s a 5-star hotel with spa facilities, outdoor pool, and indoor pools as well as restaurants. A full breakfast is also included in the price per night, and the rooms are nice and modern.

What to expect

The occupied north of Cyprus oozes history and culture at every turn, with evocative landscapes in between. Highlights on this late morning departure tour include the pretty harbour town of Kyrenia, Bellapais Abbey and the northern and southern sectors of the capital, Nicosia. Andreas, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘Bellapais means “beautiful peace” – and this Gothic abbey lives up to the hype. The views are truly fantastic. It was here in Bellapais that Lawrence Durrell was inspired to write his book, Bitter Lemons.'

Kick off by crossing over the ‘green line' border to reach Kyrenia. Picturesque stone houses curl around the harbour, which is dominated by the ancient fortress of Kyrenia Castle. Take an optional castle tour or choose free time to soak up the views at the harbour. Next, it's on to the 13th century Bellapais Abbey. Stroll around its ruined Gothic cloister and take in the panoramic views over the Med. There's then free time in the village, where novelist Lawrence Durrell lived in the 1950s.

Next, head to Nicosia, where you'll cross the UN buffer zone into the southern sector at Ledra Street. You'll have free time to embrace the city under your own steam. Ledra Street is one of the main shopping streets in Nicosia, with a mix of local and international brands, cafés and restaurants. Laiki Yeitonia, on the other hand, is a historic quarter in the old town. The area is known for its traditional architecture, narrow streets and abundant charm.

• You'll need your passport / ID card to cross the border into the occupied northern part of Cyprus
• Just so you know, because of local restrictions at Strovillia checkpoint, only passport holders from EU member states, the UK, Iceland, Norway and Switzerland can travel to and from the occupied northern part of Cyprus
• Please note, single parent families or those travelling without both parents need to provide extra documentation for anyone under the age of 18 when travelling into the occupied north of Cyprus. This includes a 'letter of authorisation' from the missing parent, as well as supporting documents including birth certificate of the child, passport copy of the missing parent or a copy of a court order. Templates of these letters are readily available on search engines however we recommend you consult a lawyer prior to travelling on holiday
