Delighted to discover this hidden gem, with a well designed menu that wouldn’t be out of place in any cosmopolitan culinary city. Except the SYC serves fresh fish, tonight snapper grilled and served in a soft but toasted taco, fresh slaw and a little pottle... of crunchy fries. Devine! All tables full, all with water views, a quiet contemporary decor. Loved it and will recommend. $65 for 2 including beer n wine. More

Great location overlooking the marina. We are local so have been here a few times. Food is much better than your average cafe. The Calamari is way different from the normal squid rings and is hard to go past. But yesterday I did and got... chicken wings instead and wasn’t disappointed. My wife’s favourite is the pasta which I normally assist her with finishing it off. Everything is cooked freshly and you can taste the difference. Best lunch choice in the area. More

So worth the detour- forget Matakana, forget Warkworth and drive a few minutes more out to the lovely Sandspit Marina. Upstairs with the best view over the boats is the Yacht Club Kitchen. Daniel and Renee are wonderful hosts serving up good down to earth... food and drinks, conversation and humour. Today’s lunch was fat and juicy scallops and a deconstructed beef burger to cater to my no-carb request. Love this place #supportlocal More

We are never disappointed with the meals. The quality is excellent and the choice is varied ranging from pasta, fish and chips,steak and more ... The chips are delicious, the best I have eaten. They cater also for children. The owners go out of their... way to ensure that you enjoy the dining experience. Happy Hour is on a Thursday when many locals gather for a get together and a drink often followed by a meal. It does pay to book ahead. The views from the deck of the marina and Sandspit estuary are great especially now that we are about to go into daylight saving. More

Seriously, if you cherish a great burger you must try one here. Very kiwi and took me back to a time when burgers weren't some mass produced patty between two buns. The texture of the patty was sensational and perfectly cooked (i know - we... had a table that looked into the kitchen). If you are up Matakana way head here - you wont be dissappointed - Oh, the burger distracted me from a beautiful outlook too. More

This spot I would highly recommend as a great relaxing enjoyable experience the food was divine staff where so friendly and service was not to be questioned. I had fish and chips followed by a tiramisu dessert and accompanied by The Last Shepherd” Pinot Noir... from Central Otago. The view overlooking the marina was so beautiful. Thank you all for a very pleasant time 👍 More

Lovely water views from the deck - good spot for an aperitif. Limited menu (a good sign, usually) but more than enough choices. Meat, fish and veggie options. The dishes they do, they do very well. Outstanding chips! Good beer and wine selection including local... options. Reasonably priced. Relaxed, friendly and efficient service. Highly recommended. More

We were highly impressed with everything ! Our first visit to the yacht club but one of many to the Sandspit Motor Camp next door . Early evening dinner , by the marina . Greeted well at the door and given a couple table outside... with a view . The waitress was very welcoming and interested. Knew her menu well and hospitality came easy for her . Very impressed . The food that followed was high standard and well presented . Delivered in time and with sincerity to us as guests . Well priced and a lovely evening . A 2 minute walk home to the caravan through the board walk . Thankyou More

Visiting relatives in the area we had a late lunch here, the fish was so fresh I thought that I’d just caught it. Very friendly service with great food in a lovely setting.

A very small menu, I think we were the only guests, a fairly late lunch after a successful fishing trip. The boat ramp is directly opposite. Small refined wine list (2 varieties of rose, Selaks and Villa Maria) and a small selection of beers to... go with. I had the beef burger, the other being chicken. That was ok. The Italian meal looked ok, no comment from the reviewer. The Thai beef curry salad had nothing in common with Thai, sorry, easily the worst option available. The battered market fish and chips were excellent...I didn’t get a taste of that one. My Dessert was ice cream...wouldn’t bother with that again but I like Ice cream. Service was prompt and polite, location and view was great but the meals just were not up to the previous owners or caterers. Of course they could get better with time. More

Sandspit Yacht Club

Sandspit Yacht Club Inc is fast approaching its 60th anniversary and is a very well established and popular boating hub in the north-Auckland region.

The club consists of various divisions which promote recreational boating, cruising, and keeler racing, and is committed to developing junior sailing in the region, and annually hosts large national and international youth sailing regattas. 

Our main facility is situated in Sandspit near Warkworth and our learn-to-sail facility is based in nearby Algies Bay.

Applicants for Sandspit Yacht Club Full Membership must provide a Nominator and Seconder who are existing club members. Details of why you wish to join the Club and how you intend to be involved in Club activities must all be provided. The member applicants list is reviewed every six months.

Warkworth Game Fish Club, Sandspit Yacht Club Centreboard Division and Associate member applicants are automatically accepted upon payment of the membership fee.

Centreboard Division applicants should register for their preferred Learn To Sail class following registration. Classes are limited to 10 learners.

About Sandspit Marina

Sandspit Marina is a state-of the-art boutique marina completed in July 2016.  It has 134 berths ranging in size from 12 to 18 metres and caters for the members of the Sandspit Yacht Club and visiting boaties. There are berths available for both long and short-term rent.

The marina is located in the Matakana River alongside the Sandspit Yacht club.  In the heart of the Matakana vineyard region with bush walks and beaches all around, the protected harbour is a great jumping off point for trips out to Kawau Island, the Hauraki Gulf, Gt Barrier Island and for those heading north.

The marina is a 40 minute drive from Auckland Harbour bridge, turning off at the country town of Warkworth.  The stunning Omaha and Pakiri beaches and world recognised Goat Island Marine Reserve are short drives to the North.

The entrance to the estuary is limited to a draft of 1.5metres at low tide.

Managed by the Sandspit Marina Society, an incorporated not for profit society. All berth licence holders are members of the Society and must also be current members of the Sandspit Yacht Club.

Sandspit Marina is a member of the  New Zealand Marina Operators Association.

• Multi Hull: 1.5 times above rates
• Waterblaster hire: $50
• Mast storage: $5 per day members, $10 per day non members
• Shelter Station: $30 per day, $200 bond payable in advance, refunded if it is left clean & tidy.
• A charge of $75 per hour will be made for work carried out by the haul out crew that is over and above the work required for a regular haul and cradle siting or is outside normal hours of operation.
• Member rates apply to the boat you have listed in the handbook, or an officially notified replacement, only.
• Full payment of haul and store accounts must be made to the club office prior to boat launch or departure. All fees and charges will be invoiced monthly during your stay, and a final invoice will be sent on launching.
• A Haul & Store Contract is required to be completed in advance of hauling, in which you agree to abide by our terms and conditions.
