Umbra Specifications

51.30m motor yacht Umbra is the second Sea Axe vessel built by the Dutch Damen Shipyards Group and launched in 2010. Umbra superyacht is capable of travelling comfortably at high speeds in almost any sea state, due to her patented Axe bow design.

168´ super yacht Umbra is managed by an 8-member crew. Damen luxury yacht Umbra boasts a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure. Powered by four MTU 12V 4000 M60 diesels, she reaches a maximum speed of 28 knots and a cruising speed of 25 knots. This stunning yacht has a beam of 9.20m (30´18´´) and a draught of 3.20m (10´50´´). Umbra is classed to Bureau Veritas. 2014 Refit: The 2014 refit of shadow support yacht Umbra was performed by Oceania Marine's North Shipyard in Port Whangarei, New Zealand. It included a two metre addition to the stern, fitting of helicopter deck and all equipment and infrastructure supporting helicopter operations. At the same time a full exterior repaint in owners colors and vessel survey requirements have been done.

The 58m/190'3" motor yacht 'Umbra' was built by Damen Yachting in the Netherlands at their Gorinchem shipyard. Her interior is styled by Dutch designer design house Damen Yachting and she was completed in 2009. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Damen Yachting and she was last refitted in 2017.

She is also capable of carrying up to 19 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Range & Performance

Umbra is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with aluminium decks. Powered by 4 x diesel MTU (12V 4000 M60) 1,320hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 12 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 16 knots with a range of up to 4,500 nautical miles from her 54,420 gallon fuel tanks at 10 knots. Umbra features at-anchor stabilizers providing exceptional comfort levels. Her water tanks store around 7,400 Gallons of fresh water. She was built to BV (Bureau Veritas) BV+Hull •MACH•AUT UMS Special Service/Fast Crew Supplier Unrestricted Service classification society rules, and is MCA Compliant.

'Umbra' refit completed

Auckland’s diverse projects have completed the extensive refit on 'umbra', with a specialist management company.….

“The initiative has been some years in the planning and it is exciting for our whole team to finally be starting on the real thing. This first stage not only targets a market that Oceania Marine currently does not cater for but in addition will ease pressure on the slipping schedule of the 800 tonne railway slipway at North Shipyard, located close by, for more large vessel haul outs,” explained managing director Martin Gleeson.

Provision for a 450 tonne Cimolai mobile boat hauler has been made and initial designs of a unique 4000 tonne Syncrolift for installation at the site have also been in discussion. The next stage of development is expected to be completed in time for the 2016 summer season.

Gleeson adds that "experience in the market along with our research, and that of others is telling us we need to be able to service vessels up to 100 metres in length with displacements of us to 4000 tonnes."

Efforts have been directed to Port Whangerei Marine Centre and getting both travelifts operational as soon as possible.

177′ (54m) | Damen | Shadow Support Vessel

The ultimate superyacht support vessel.

Superyacht Sales and Charter is proud to announce that the 177′ Damen shadow yacht UMBRA is now for sale. Reimagined as the ultimate superyacht support vessel, UMBRA underwent an extensive refit that left no piece of her untouched. A complete paint job and new garage are the most visible of the additions but by far not the only ones. The upgrades were done with the crew and performance in mind. Creating not just a beautiful vessel but a usable one as well.

UMBRA’s ample deck space, large garage, and heavy duty crane allow her to carry a wide offering of tenders and toys including two Triton submarines (available for purchase separately). She also features a full dive department with dive compressor, deck workshop in the air conditioned garage, and a 7m x 2m storage mezzanine.

UMBRA sleeps 19 crew in seven cabins consisting of a two four berth cabins, 2 twin cabins, one triple cabin and separate cabins for the captain and chief engineer each with a large double beds, all with en-suite shower facilities. The galley, crew mess, walk-in refrigerator and freezer are located on the lower decks. All cabins feature new phone system and apple TVs. The IT system received a complete renewal Mid 2019 providing wired and WIFI connectivity throughout the vessel. A new bridge screen switching system was also added creating mission changeable informational set-ups on the helm area.

Power comes from (4x) MTU 1,320hp diesel engines and 3 generators allowing an excess range of 4,500 nautical miles. For underway and anchored comfort she is also fitted with Quantum zero speed stabilizers.

YPI sells superyacht Umbra with SuperYachtsMonaco

Welcome news from Jim Evans at SuperYachtsMonaco that he has closed on the sale of the 50m fast superyacht support vessel Umbra with Russell Crump at Yachting Partners International acting for the buyer.

Built by Damen in 2010 to Lloyd's class, Umbra is one of the yard’s Sea Axe series of motor yachts and accommodates up to 18 crew in nine cabins. No less than four 1,770hp MTU engines give her a cruising speed of 16 knots and a range of 4,000 nautical miles.

Described as ‘a very lightly used Damen Sea Axe yacht support vessel, which has been heavily customised for use by an experienced yacht owner’s fleet’, Umbra features ingenious innovations such as removable accommodation pod and storage containers to suit the yacht owner’s requirements.

Fitted with zero-speed stabilisers, Umbra was asking €10 million.
