Wildlands is miles better than Breakpoint. And it's on Game Pass!

Prophet of Truth
Out of those two, Wildlands. If you mean Ghost Recon in general I recommend Advanced Warfighter 1 and 2 on Xbox 360.

Depends on the platform. Keep in mind on console Wildlands is 30fps. And personally thats a no go for me as 30fps makes me nauseous. But if you have the option to play on PC id recommend Wildlands. Breakpoint is in a better place now. But it had to spend so much time rectifying their problems, that the content can be thin. With the best quests and things to do locked behind DLC.

Wildlands

I prefer Wildlands: - can play offline - better world building and atmosphere - better squad AI - guns have more punch Breakpoint has improved a lot over the years but it’s still a dead feeling island and needs online. From what I have seen on YT Breakpoint is now largely a Mil-Sim Spec Ops version of Arma, with people running custom missions dressed as SAS / Marines and it’s really customisable. But as a game to play through, Wildlands is better for my money.

Start with Wildlands. I think the game world is a lot more fun to mess around in with some beautiful vistas. Great HDR too. I'm playing Breakpoint now on ps+ and it's fun so long as you change all the game settings to the Wildlands-like options.

Unlimited Capacity
Wildlands 100%

Wildlands has the better world, BP has better gameplay. One area where BP is significantly better IMO is stealthing - in Wildlands detection can be quite wonky and if you get detected, pretty much the entire base knows your position immediately, whereas BP is more "realistic" . But not gonna lie, I did enjoy Wildlands a lot more. The world is just really gorgeous and varied.

I put 80 hours into Wildlands and wanted more. I put 20 minutes into breakpoint and havent played a new ubisoft game since lol

I actually thought after it got overhauled Breakpoint was the more fun game to play. But to be honest I wouldn't really choose either of them

Wildlands is pretty good. Especially if you can find some friends to play with. I've heard Breakpoint eventually got good though but I haven't played it.

RightChandMan
I'm in the minority but I loved breakpoint more especially in its current state. For some reason I can't get into Wildlands. Ive tried over and over again. But I have sunk many hours into BP

Breakpoint, easily. Runs way better on PC too.

StreamedHams
Voted for Breakpoint. Overall, I had a better time playing solo. A lot of the work that went into improving it allows you to play it how you want. Wildlands was too big and too generic with the 5,000 cartel dudes you had to capture/kill. There’s plenty of content for both, though. Breakpoint looks better too, IMO.

Definitely read up on the customisation options they added to Breakpoint, I came to it late and played with all the gear-score GaaS stuff turned off and turned on some of the injury stuff and really enjoyed it. Edit: Another thing I did was turn off waypoints (which I've never done in any other game) and tried to find my way to objectives based on descriptions and the map.

I liked both but Wildlands is the best IMO.

Human Resources
i loved wildlands and was really excited for breakpoint but frankly it's just not as fun. despite being the newer game with (ostensibly) more quality of life upgrades, breakpoint felt like a step backwards. it takes too long to do anything in breakpoint. both games have large maps with lots of things to clear, but wildlands kept you on the move and you could handle your loadout/menus/etc quickly from pretty much anywhere. breakpoint wastes so much time making you watch joyless cutscenes of undeveloped characters delivering dry exposition. it feels slow to play too. they upped the animation quality, but you're constantly locked into these long animation sequences that make the game feel really slow and unwieldy at times, especially in tight quarters. i appreciate that they tried to do something different with the mission menu and make it like a detective investigation board but it's chaotic and overwhelming to navigate. i've tried to play through breakpoint's story multiple times, but i always get to a point where the game feels sisyphean -- new missions and tasks are constantly being thrown at me so it never feels like i'm making any progress, and on top of that, each mission feels boring and homogenous, i just stalk around and shoot dudes in the back of the head with my pistol around a copy/paste outpost. compounded with lengthy excursions to the hub area to listen to characters whine about each other at length, the game's pacing just sucks all the time. i'm not discounting the crazy amount of work that must have been put into this game, just that the GAAS trappings took a lot of fun out of the game

I worked on Wildlands so go with that one :P Though just turn off the voice acting.

Do you intend to play with friends, OP ? Because Wildlands is much more laid back during travels, with fewer random encouters. Breakpoint's world is much more monotonous and relies way too much on drone enemies (booooring). We played both extensively, and I'd recommend Wildlands by a country mile.

Megustaelmate
breakpoint...EASILY. HANDS DOWN. no debate. specially with the new realistic updates. so much fun.

Wildlands is one of my favorite games of the last generation. Fun alone (especially on higher difficulties) and an absolute BLAST with friends.

It’s a hard toss up for me but I would pick Wildlands first. Breakpoint had a LOT of updates to it which turned it into something cool but I think Wildlands was already there before and still does some things better. Wildlands first, and if you want more Breakpoint is also as good now after all of the updates.

On PC, definitely Wildlands. On consoles I would still recommend Wildlands over Breakpoint, but with the caveat that it's 30 fps against Breakpoint's 60 fps.
Alright, picked up Wildlands Ultimate for like $18. Thanks, everyone!

Wow, according to steam it’s been almost 3 years since I played Wildlands, and it’s steam deck compatible! I’ll have to install it

I'm just going to say that in my opinion these are both co-op games that are mediocre with an ideal group and not worth bothering with even for free on Gamepass if you are playing by yourself.

Wildlands is great. Breakpoint is good.

another vote for wildlands, it was great fun with my homie back in the day

flaxknuckles
The movement, shooting, driving, graphics, and enemy AI are all better in Breakpoint. But it’s worse at everything else. I find myself switching between them depending on my mood. So I say buy both.

Breakpoint for me. Just had more fun with that. Plus, Terminators.

Shadow Wars. :)

Wildlands in co op was an absolute blast. The gameplay isn't crazy good, but the world is gorgeous and so varied.

I played a demo or something for wildlands and that first area was some of the least fun I have ever had in a vehicle in a game every single piece of geometry that so much as glanced at my truck caused it to completely stop, which made trying to take shortcuts a miserable experience So I didn't get that far, maybe they changed it, or later areas are better about letting you get around

Breakpoint was a massive disappointment after Wildlands in my book, but I played it before the overhaul so maybe its better now

Unshakable Resolve
Breakpoint is one of the worst Triple-A games in recent years, imo. Wildlands is not great, but much better than its' sequel.

They're both absolutely atrocious games imo. My opinion is in-line with the destructoid review of Wildlands . Play MGSV instead, it's leagues better in every conceivable way. How anybody can enjoy those two ghost recon games is mindboggling to me, but plenty of people do so...ymmv. And to be clear, I think older ghost recon games are quite good, and I like both stealth/tactical shooters and military shooters. Those 2 games are just top to bottom trash.

Swearing.circle
Breakpoint is actually pretty good now. Super customisable and I had a lot of fun with it last year. Was bad when it released though.

Ghost Recon Wildlands vs Breakpoint: Who Is The Best?

Since the game, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint has been released the fans of the franchise have been trying to compare it with the previous installment of the franchise. Ghost Recon Wildlands vs Breakpoint is the main question that the fans of the franchise have been looking for.
Is one of the games better than the other? This article would try to compare both these games in an attempt to understand which game is truly better. First, let’s understand what each of these games is about.
Ghost Recon Wildlands
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is a third-person tactical shooter video game that was published by Ubisoft and developed by Ubisoft Paris + Milan. The game was first released globally on March 7, 2017, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands was the tenth installment of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon franchise and it was the first game in the Ghost Recon series to feature an open-world environment.
The game does not follow the futuristic setting introduced in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and instead features a setting similar to the original Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon. Ubisoft, the game’s publisher described it as one of the biggest open-world games that they have published. The game world is set in Bolivia and it includes a wide variety of environments such as mountains, forests, deserts, and salt flats. A sequel, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, was released on October 4, 2019.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint
Ghost Recon Breakpoint is an online tactical shooter game developed by Ubisoft Paris and it was published by Ubisoft. It was released in 2019 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. This is the eleventh installment in the Ghost Recon series and is a sequel to the 2017 video game Ghost Recon Wildlands.

Ghost Recon Wildlands vs Breakpoint

Many of the fans believe that when comparing Breakpoint and its predecessor it is the latter that still holds up even after these many years. While the predecessor is no longer the talk of the town, Ghost Recon Wildlands had managed to get complete long-term support from the developers. Let’s have a quick look at a few key differences –
There are mainly five reasons that make one lean more towards Wildlands than Breakpoint and those points are what this section of the article would discuss in detail.
Ghost Recon Wildlands vs Breakpoint: Better Story And Characters

In Ghost Recon Wildlands we see one of the best villains in the Ghost Recon series even if he is not present in the game for most of the time. El Sueno still seems like a mighty villain and is up there with some of the greatest villains in video game history such as Vaas from Far Cry 3.
While Walker in Breakpoint is not a bad villain by any means it is just that he does not stand a chance in front of Morales also known as El Sueno.
The supporting characters of Wildlands are also much better when compared to the characters in Breakpoint. The story of neither Wildlands nor Breakpoint is bad in any way, however, if one were to compare both the story of the latter may seem a bit lackluster to the player.
In Wildlands the player needs to bring down a drug cartel and there are individual bosses and the player slowly works his or her way up this hierarchy to finally reach the main man, El Sueno. When compared to this many fans found Breakpoint to be harder to grasp and boring with unnecessary clashes against drones with no names.
Ghost Recon Wildlands vs Breakpoint: Game World

In Breakpoint, many players find not just the story uninteresting but also the world . In Ghost Recon Wildlands the world feels alive but when we look at the world from Breakpoint it feels shallow and dead.
The cars on the streets, the civilians in those cars, and the civilians walking around all of them allowed the player to see a very real and authentic virtual version of Bolivia. Even though there are civilians in Breakpoint as well it just is not made use of in the same skillful way as Wildlands did.
The environment on Breakpoint seemed cold and dead when compared to the lively Bolivia seen in Wildlands.
Ghost Recon Wildlands vs Breakpoint: Environment

The visuals of Breakpoint are considered to be monotonous and not considered that attractive by many players. The environment of Bolivia seen in Wildlands is colorful and warm in color.
The pleasant color palette of Wildlands is the main highlight of the game which many fans find very entertaining.
Ghost Recon Wildlands vs Breakpoint: Rebels
The presence of Rebels in the game makes the world feel much more alive and authentic. The rebels help the player fight against the Santa Blanca cartel. The rebels are available as regular game mechanics which can be upgraded using skill points and various resources.
Ghost Recon Wildlands vs Breakpoint: Details
There are a lot of hidden details in the game which makes the game more fun for the players. The system for upgrading abilities, equipment, and armor in the game is also very unique and pleasant for the players.
In Breakpoint, the skill points are wasted as players get more skill points with nothing left to unlock, however, that’s not the case in Wildlands.
Ghost Recon Wildlands vs Breakpoint – Verdict
Even though both Ghost Recon Wildlands, as well as Ghost Recon Breakpoint, are really good games, when one is made to do a Ghost Recon Wildlands vs Breakpoint comparison it will be needed to put one game over the other. Based on many of the reviews on steam as well as other online sites it is safe to assume that fans prefer and like Ghost Recon Wildlands more than Ghost Recon Breakpoint . The various reasons as to why the former is preferred by the fans is mentioned above.
To put it in a nutshell Ghost Recon Wildlands is better than Ghost Recon Breakpoint.

After a few updates of the game, Breakpoint has indeed become a better game when one looks at the glaringly obvious indicators.

While the ultimate choice of choosing between these two games comes down to the player and what his or her preference is. This article has mentioned how fans consider Wildlands to be a better game than Breakpoint based on various posts by users on Reddit and quora. The opinion of each person may vary.

I played about 5 minutes of Wildlands about 5 years ago, don't remember much besides the shooting. Watched some videos by DeSinc on Breakpoint, and OperatorDrewski on Wildlands, Breakpoint looks glitchy and chaotic, in a fun way, and Wildlands looks like it will be a slow and methodical game. Both.
Ghost Recon: Breakpoint vs Wildlands I've been craving a single play looter shooter type game. Ya between wildlands and breakpoint, breakpoint definitely does feel a lot better, its one of the things good about it. Breakpoint is a pretty good game, it feels and looks a lot better than wildlands. Wildlands is ultimately usually considered the better one because of various reasons, but in the end breakpoint isn't necessarily bad either.
Neither is a good Ghost Recon game. Get GRAW2 (Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2) on Xbox series X/S if you can, as it was the last proper GR title. If you like it, go backwards to GR2: Summit Strike, then Ghost Recon 2, then the original Ghost Recon on PC. Bonus: play the old Rainbow Six series up to Raven Shield AND Splinter Cell up to Chaos ...
The game needs work though, while driving controls are better than WL, the faster vehicles (like the electric bike) have wonky suspension and acceleration at times. Player movement while interesting sometimes leads to the pc not doing what you tell them, especially while injured.

Wildlands is amazing, and several people on my friends list still play semi regularly, I recommend joining the official Ghost Recon discord server and trying to schedule some co-op play, tons of fun when you get people that aren't going to just goof off (pretty much everyone still playing wildlands, and even most people still playing breakpoint, much better than either were in their first 6 ...
I LOVED Wildlands. I was gonna get Breakpoint but upon release heard how bad it was. I only got it because it was on sale for $12. I do enjoy it now, but 10/10 say Wildlands is better. The thing I honestly don't like the most about Breakpoint is the class system. I feel like either it shouldn't be there or there should be 3/4 classes.

+1 Breakpoint seems to lack character, WIldlands has a feel to it that Breakpoint doesn't. Breakpoint feels completely artificial, lacking realism, I feel like I am only playing a computer game (lacks immersion). Too many weird stuff in the interface too (Ubisoft: did you ever hear of ergonomics?).
