Resort View Room Tour at Disney’s Yacht Club (Is an Upgraded View Worth It?)
This article provides a tour of a resort view room at Disney’s Yacht Club. We were assigned room #4216 on the fourth floor of Disney’s Yacht Club. We’ll also discuss where and when an upgraded view is worth your consideration.
Disney’s Yacht Club is one of our favorite resorts at Walt Disney World . So, when it came time to pick a resort for a personal trip, Yacht Club was at the top of our list.
You may remember we stayed at Disney’s Yacht Club earlier this year. Therefore, I won’t write another review of the Yacht Club for this trip. But I wanted to provide a tour of our room and discuss room view categories.
You may be aware that Disney recently changed the description of their room views. Formerly, Yacht Club rooms offered the following views: standard, garden or woods, or a water view. Now, those categories (at the Yacht Club) are standard, resort, or water views.
A standard view is of a rooftop or parking area. A resort view is a view of a garden, rooftop, or parking area. Lastly, a water view is considered a view of Crescent Lake or the quiet pool.
Disney’s Yacht Club is one of the few resorts I would consider splurging on a water view. However, we went with the resort view for this trip because it was within a reasonable price range that fit our budget.
We spent the greater portion of each day at Stormalong Bay , so I didn’t necessarily miss having the water view. But I did catch myself thinking–next time, we’ll do a water view.
If we had booked this upgrade and our water view had been of the quiet pool, I would not have been happy. If and when I upgrade to a water view, I want to see Crescent Lake. To me, a view of the quiet pool versus a view of Crescent Lake isn’t comparable. So you’ll want to consider this when booking a room upgrade.
Also the same goes for a standard view. If you get a rooftop view or have a large HVAC unit sitting outside your room, it will likely put a damper on things. So make sure you consider these things when planning a trip.
However, if standard view pricing allows you to stay at the Yacht Club within your budget, the view probably won’t matter. But don’t go into the trip with expectations of waking up each morning to a stunning view–because you probably won’t have one!
Here is our room.
Standard rooms at Disney’s Yacht Club feature two queen beds with a sofa that converts to a single sleeper. This room sleeps up to five guests. We were a party of two adults and one child. So we each had a bed. This sleeper is comfortable and comparable to the single sleeper in the Incredible rooms at Disney’s Contemporary .
Here is a close-up of the futon-style bed.
When the bed is not in use, it makes for a nice sitting area. Since we used the bed, we left it converted the entire trip. Housekeeping made up the bed each day. I also wanted to mention that we had excellent service during our stay. We came home to towel creations and a well-attended room each evening.
Our room had a dresser with plenty of storage.
On top of the dresser, there was counter space, plus several outlets and USB ports.
An extra pillow and blanket were tucked away inside. If you need more, call housekeeping or leave a note. They will leave what you need in your room.
One of the things I like about the rooms at Disney’s Yacht Club is the built-in closet area.
This area provides multiple spaces to hang clothes or store items. When traveling with others, having a place to organize your personal belongings is helpful. Not only does it simplify things, it also provides the ability to get ready more efficiently.
An in-room safe, steam iron, and ironing board are available.
At the front of the foyer, a separate built-in provides shelving and a few other in-room amenities.
An individual Keurig coffee maker with accompaniments was available.
Underneath, a door opens to provide a beverage cooler. A separate drawer above the fridge provides extra storage space. It had a few paper cups and lids for coffee cups.
However, it’s disappointing that Disney has not replaced paper products in the rooms with glassware. I don’t know how you feel, but paper products are cheap. They are also not environmentally friendly.
Here is a look at the layout of the guest bathroom.
Rooms have a single vanity with two sinks and plenty of toiletries.
A ledge is available underneath the mirror, which allows plenty of space to store personal items. Additionally, a make-up mirror, hairdryer, and a plethora of towels were available.
Our room had a stand-alone (walk-in) shower.
It had a primary showerhead and a detachable one.
Disney’s Yacht Club offers individual toiletries, including body wash, bar soap, facial soap, shampoo, and conditioner.
We had a desk with a chair in the far corner of our room. A roll-out table is tucked underneath the desk. It can be moved anywhere in the room.
Curtains at Disney’s Yacht Club are designed to look like constellations. Each cluster of stars connects to form a Disney character.
We ended up with a large balcony and a pleasant resort view.
Here is a photo. This view faces the front of the resort, and that’s the Yacht Club’s convention center in the distance. If I leaned out and looked to the left, I could see the port cochere at the Yacht Club’s main entrance.

Final Thoughts
Overall, we were satisfied with our resort view room. If you or someone in your party plans to spend a decent amount of time in the room, a resort or water view upgrade is worth consideration.
However, if you’ll spend a ton of time at the pool or park-hopping between neighboring Epcot and Hollywood Studios–you might prefer to save the money and book a standard view.
Those are decisions you’ll have to make. But, ultimately, it’s hard to go wrong with Disney’s Yacht Club. We love this hotel and are always excited to stay here.

Disney World Room Tour: Disney’s Yacht Club
Today we’re taking you through one of the beautiful refurbished rooms at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort .
About Disney’s Yacht Club Resort
The Yacht Club and it’s sister resort, The Beach Club, embody a New England seaside vibe along Crescent Lake, adjacent to World Showcase in EPCOT. This Deluxe Resort offers plenty of dining and entertainment for guests staying on property. Nautical touches throughout the resort, along with amenities like Stormalong Bay , a sandy beach, and easy access to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, make this resort a personal favorite of mine.
Yacht Club Rooms
All of the rooms at the Yacht Club were refurbished in late 2017 to bring the decor up to date, and add a light, modern feel. Now, hues of navy blue and beige created a muted nautical vibe with accents like riveting and textile add to the subtle theming. Almost all the standard rooms at Yacht Club can sleep five guests, with 2 queen-sized beds, and one twin pull-down sofa bed.
The dark woods in the floors and furniture give the whole space a sophisticated feel, and the details on the furniture give it a steamer trunk look and feel. There is a large chest of drawers below the mounted flat screen TV that provides tons of space for storage of clothes.
During the latest renovations of most rooms at Disney, they are opting for a laminate floor over rugs, to make the rooms easier to clean, and more allergy/dust friendly. They’ve also eliminated the platforms under the beds, which leaves a huge open space to store luggage during your stay.
A small enclosed nook houses the small mini-fridge, and there’s a cute little coffee station above it. You’ll find a 1-cup Keurig coffee maker, along with a selection of Joffery’s K-cups. Additional glasses and mugs are stored on the shelves above.
A huge wardrobe stands in place of the traditional sliding closet, which has tons of room in it. The smaller door to the right hides the room safe, as well as a fold out ironing board and iron storage.
Directly across from the closet space is a divided bath. The sink area is now closed off to the rest of the room with a large sliding barn door. You’ll find double sinks and a huge lighted mirror. There’s also tons of storage space below the sinks, as well as a lighted rotating make-up mirror.
The toilet and tub/shower are in their own sperate place, closed off by a pocket door, to save space. Sliding glass doors replace the older shower curtains. In the shower, there is a fixed showerhead, as well as a smaller handheld sprayer. Perfect for rising those sandy feet after a day in Stormalong Bay .
Every room includes either a full balcony or a balconette. If you’ve reserved a water view room, you can expect fantastic views of Crescent Lake and the Boardwalk Resort just across the water. From this room we had an amazing view across the water, and we were able to see the fireworks from IllumiNations at night.
Skyliner Transportation – Coming Soon!
In addition to the amazing resort amenities and location, the Yacht Club is also one of the resorts that will be served by the new Skyliner transportation system . Beginning this Fall, the Skyliner will take guests from the International Gateway entrance (a quick walk from the resorts main entrance) to Hollywood Studios, as well as other resorts, including the new Rivera Resort, opening late this year!

Photo tour of a refurbed room at disney’s yacht club resort.
(For the first page of this review of Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, see this .)
In late 2017, Disney’s Yacht Club resort completed a much-needed room refurb, and I had the chance to stay in a refurbed room in early November.
A complete photo tour follows, but for those familiar with the former rooms here, here’s the key points:
- The rooms are much more livable than before
- Yacht Club rooms were never very interesting, and have gotten even less so
- A gulf has emerged between Beach Club rooms and Yacht Club rooms. In the past they were largely identical other than balconies, color schemes and decorations. Now, after each of their recent refurbs, while they continue to have the same basic characteristics in terms of size, capacity, bath layout and such, the Yacht Club rooms are better on almost every other dimension
STANDARD ROOMS AT DISNEY’S YACHT CLUB RESORT
Standard rooms at the Yacht Club sleep either four or five–four on two queens, and the fifth on a fold-down sofa bed, if present.
At the entry, the bath area is on one side…
…and the coffee area, mini-fridge, and closet on the other.
The coffee maker is a Keurig–unusual in Disney World rooms–and underneath it is a good-sized drawer.
Below both, and behind a door, is the same sort of glass-fronted mini-fridge that’s been common in recently refurbed Disney World rooms.
Beyond these is the re-done closet. Note the nice paneling and the shelves above and below on the right side.
Inside the doors you’ll find more structured storage. Older Disney rooms have just a long blank closet with a long clothes rod and a shelf above. This is much more helpful.
The safe is quite large– my book is 6×9 inches, and you could fit a more than a dozen. In fact, you probably should.
The other side of the room contains the divided bath. The sink area, which used to be open to the room, now has a sliding barn door that can limit the effect of light and noise in here on the rest of the room.
Inside you’ll find double sinks and, new with this refurb, a make-up mirror.
The hair dryer.
Storage underneath the sinks.
The tub and toilet are in their own separate space, now closed off by a pocket door rather than a swinging door. I’m not a fan of the new sliding shower doors which replace the old curtain. They make it too hard to bathe kids.
The two heads of the rainfall shower make it much more usable.
The toiletries.
Back in the room, on one side you’ll find two queen beds.
The bed side from the back. In four person rooms, you’ll find an easy chair where the desk is, and the desk is moved to the TV side of the room, where the couch is in five person rooms.
A closer view of one of the queens. Note that, consistent with recent trends in hotels–especially higher end hotels–these beds are high off the floor. At about 30 inches they may be as much as six inches taller than you are used to, and are about three inches higher than the beds in the Beach Club. Shorter folk and those with any number of disabilities may have difficulty getting into them.
New in this refurb is a set of (?halogen) pencil reading lights. There are four in total, one on each side of each queen. They come on when you pull them out of their slot in the headboard, and you can aim them.
The additional bulb-style reading lights on the walls are each controlled by a single switch per bed, so both of a bed’s wall-mounted lights will light up when that switch is thrown. The pencil lights provide more control and more light.
There’s a small bedside shelf with a power point for four devices (two plug, two USB) between the near bed and the bath wall.
In addition between the two beds is a more traditional bedside table. I believe the design of this table is meant to recall the steamer trunks that used to be taken on transatlantic cruises. We’ll see other gestures towards this design concept in the dresser. Also, if you scan up above, you’ll see a similar theming to the mini-fridge enclosure.
The table has another 4 device power point and three small storage drawers, with one big enough for your most important books.
The undersides of the bed are now open…
…creating a handy place to shove your luggage.
The desk includes 8 power points…
…and underneath is is a rolling table, handy for eating or playing games.
The TV side of the room has the connecting door (if present), dresser, TV, and a couch in five person rooms. In four person rooms, the desk is moved to this side.
The TV side from the back.
The TV is 54 inches–much bigger than that in the Beach Club rooms.
The dresser includes nine drawers and a cabinet. There’s plenty of storage in these rooms, even for five people. There’s a four-device power point at either end of the dresser.
The couch…
…folds down into a bed, which I measured as 33″ by 75.” The high sides at the ends make it sleep a little shorter than this. The cushion is firm but thin, and so the bed is best suited to kids, the uncomplaining, or those whose complaints are safely ignored.
Above the couch is this art. The Mickey head and reference to Disney World’s 1971 opening is one of three subtle gestures in the room to Disney theming.
The second is in this art on the wall between the beds and the bath…
…and the third is in this curtain that separates the balcony from the room.
Look closely at what at first seems a map of the constellations of the night sky, and you will see some constellations hitherto unknown to mankind.
Almost all Yacht Club rooms have full-width balconies, unlike the Beach Club, which combines regular balconies, small balconies and uselessly tiny ones.
This balcony difference was traditionally the largest difference between Yacht Club and Beach Club rooms. But after the 2015 Beach Club room refurb and 2017 Yacht Club room refurb, more differences have emerged, as the Yacht Club rooms now have…
- Keurig coffee makers
- Wooden floors
- More structured closet storage
- Larger safe
- Barn-door closure to the sink area
- A make-up mirror
- Pocket door access to the bath
- Dual shower heads
- Sliding shower doors
- Under-bed storage
- Halogen individual reading lights
…most of which most people would consider improvements in livability over the Beach Club rooms.

Thanks Dave! No grandparents for the upcoming trip, so that’s where the stroller shall go:-) Although, we are actually booked at BC (splitting the trip, half Pop, half BC). I was curious to see if YC was the same price and if we should switch. The main reason we’d switch is the guaranteed balcony. I need to check your BC review about the best way to request a (larger) balcony room!
Eric, I have to say that after both refurbs, I do prefer the YC rooms, even beyond the balcony issue.
Hey Dave. Was the entire YC refurbed, or are there still sections yet-to-be updated? Also, your suitcase looked like a carry-on; for families rocking large piece luggage, do you think they’d also fit under the beds? When adding a double-stroller & crib to the mix, it was actually a little tight in our Poly room. Thankfully we parked our stroller in grandma & grandpa’s king bedroom next door 🙂
Hey Eric! The entire YC was refurbed, and the refurb is complete.
The bag you see, packed the way I packed it, is about 11 inches. Looks to me like there’s four or five more inches of clearance. So I guess it depends on the depth of your bags. Some bags will fit on the closet, in either of the two hanging areas.
These rooms are smaller than the Poly rooms, so you may be challenged, especially if you need to use the connecting door on this trip–as in front of it is the best place for strollers.
Thanks so much for the awesome update. We’ve stayed at the Beach Club before it’s most recent renovation and found the resort to be underwhelming but loved the location.
We are staying in the Yacht Club in February and are looking forward to it!
Have fun, Anthony, and let me know what you think!
