Fifty Point Yacht Club

Fifty Point Yacht Club

  • Last updated:  June 9, 2022

We are located within the Fifty Point Conservation Area, a 200 acre park on the South shore of Lake Ontario, operated by the Hamilton Conservation Authority (HCA). The park and marina were opened to the public in 1984 and FPYC was founded in same year. Our yacht club rents slips from HCA and welcomes all visiting yacht club members, offering a free slip for the first night of your stay in the park.

Whether your plans include a group BBQ, a picnic, cycling, fishing, hiking, swimming, anchoring off the beach for the afternoon, or a relaxing meal at the marina restaurant overlooking the harbour, a visit to FPYC will not disappoint. Our members appreciate the friendship and hospitality extended by yacht clubs around the Great Lakes and look forward to receiving visitors and an opportunity to reciprocate. On behalf of the FPYC members and executive, we hope to see you at Fifty-Point this season.

Club Cruises

Click here to register for 2019 cruises.

Enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow Fifty Point Yacht Club boaters at some of the finest clubs on Western Lake Ontario.

For each cruise we will require a volunteer cruise captain(s) to be a point of contact for FPYC boats going on the cruise and to receive any last minute change information from, or about the destination club. The cruise captain volunteer will have a guaranteed reservation on the cruise, regardless of when they reserve.

The cruise captain might host a pre-cruise meeting, usually scheduled on Saturday morning of the cruise weekend. At the meeting, the captain shares any instructions or other information from the host club (calling-in instructions and/or dock assignments), distributes the cruise list, assigns a radio channel for boaters and gets agreement on a fleet departure time for those planning to travel together.

On arrival the cruise captain checks with the Dock Master or Officer of the Day at the host club to make sure everything has gone according to plan with slip assignments and to determine where the group can get together for any group events. Cruise captains who wish to organize other activities, especially on long weekends, are encouraged to do so.

2024 FPYC Cruise Schedule

  • • June 15, 16 - Royal Hamilton Yacht Club
  • • June 29, 30, July 1 - Royal Canadian Yacht Club
  • • August 3, 4, 5 - Port Credit Yacht Club
  • • August 31, September 1, 2 - National Yacht Club

The cruise sign up will open on June 1. Please make sure you submit your renewal membership or new membership application by June 1, or by May 1 to receive the early bird rate. Registration details will be coming soon and will follow in a separate email to members.

FPYC has a cap of 15 boats per cruise. To make cruises as accessible as possible to all members, registration for 3 of the posted cruises will be allowed. There will be waiting lists for cancellations for over subscribed dates.

Please check your calendars and consider carefully the cruises you sign up for. This reduces the last minute work involved in cancellations, multiple slip assignment changes, substitutions and many emails by dock masters and cruise directors at both FPYC and our destination clubs.

2019 Club Cruises Sign Up Sheet

Club cruises are organized to coincide with many local events held at or around our destination. For 2017 we are proposing a Club sponsored dinner for all 3 long-weekend cruises, provided we have a volunteer cruise captain for each cruise. "So what does the cruise captain do anyway?" click Here for details
