The new Sunseeker 88 Yacht to debut

It is no great secret that Sunseeker is one of the leading exponents of British boat design. Its craft is so famous, in fact, that they are part of the collective imagination and not just because they have stolen the show in an impressive string of Bond films.

  Speed, elegance, and leading-edge technology are the main ingredients of the yard’s enduring success story. Now the aim of CEO Andrea Frabetti, a long-time manager of the Italian boating industry, is to raise the bar still higher to ensure the company becomes one of the top three players in the international market.

Sunseeker 88 Yacht

The investment plan required to do this is, bx+y any standards, colossal and bears the stamp of the aforementioned Frabetti, who was handpicked by Sunseeker’s Chinese majority owner Wang Jianlin for the job. With 60 million sterling (around 70 million euro) to play with, Sunseeker embraced the challenge with relish and produced at least 10 new products between 2020 and 2021. These include the Sunseeker 88 Yacht, perhaps one of the most emblematic models of the yard’s new direction in terms of interior and exterior design and solutions. Due to its length (26 metres) and spec, the Sunseeker 88 Yacht slots perfectly into the middle of its range. 

Sunseeker 88 Yacht – Exterior

It also sports the great signature of the new generation Sunseeker: the transom Beach Club, a fantastic spot for guests to sunbathe or simply chat as they commune with the marine environment.  Accessed by dual teak staircases with recessed LED lighting, this lovely outdoor sanctuary includes the innovative X-TEND™ sunbed which can face aft at water level or into the cockpit when raised forward. There is even an overhead rain shower and lockers complete with charging points for two SeaBobs.

The extended swim platform can also be used to stow a Williams 435 Sportjet tender or a Seadoo Spark 3 Up. One of the most enjoyable exterior spaces aboard the Sunseeker 88 Yacht, however, has to be the huge flybridge where owners also have the option of an infinity spa tub and sun pad that afford spectacular 360° sea views through glass bulwarks. There is also companion seating adjacent to the helm in addition to an extended wraparound U-shaped sofa opposite a feature wet bar. This entire area is sheltered by a large hardtop with optional panels that can be angled to adjust shade levels.  

Moving into the Sunseeker 88’s interior, the saloon on the main deck is a very pleasant surprise indeed. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the interior with light making this already generous space feel even larger and more welcoming.  The galley lies forward alongside the helm and delivers an astonishing amount of storage for anything and everything as well as a full-height premium fridge-freezer and dishwasher as standard. There is even room for wine coolers should the owner wish.

Lastly, a fixed breakfast bar unit with two stools is great for casual early morning nibbles and coffees. Sunseeker also offers an option to fully close off the galley, so that crew can work away between galley and lower helm while guests enjoy complete privacy. 

Sunseeker 88 Yacht – Interiors

The wealth of finishes aboard is matched by a great abundance of storage spaces dotted around the entire main saloon and lower deck. The sumptuously appointed master stateroom is located centrally to make the very most of the generous beam. A 55” television comes as standard as does a dressing area with double closet and an en suite bathroom with sublime surfaces, two hand basins and an overhead rain shower. 

A clever mix of woods, lacquer finishes, and diagonal stainless steel detailing on both cabinetry and doors completes a luxurious but subtle look that effortlessly balances the timeless and the modern so that even long stays aboard will prove a pleasure. There is also a VIP stateroom forward with its own bathroom as well as two other twin cabins, also en suite. Each has a floor-to-ceiling wardrobe and large windows for plentiful daylight.

Propulsion-wise, the Sunseeker 88 sports two 2,000 hp MTU V10s, and these unleash a speed of 28 knots at full throttle yet will also give the chance of a range of 1,300 nm at a more leisurely 12.

Combining a superyacht feel with all the practical advantages of a yacht in this size category, the new Sunseeker 88 Yacht has impressive, and new to the brand, exterior lines and a sleek hardtop roof with optional central opening canopy. This yacht will stand out in any marina around the world. Powered by twin MTU 10V 2000’s as standard, she accommodates eight guests and four crew in complete luxury and comfort and is capable of reaching speeds of up to 28 knots.

Beach Club concept

The 88 Yacht features Sunseeker’s industry-leading ‘Beach Club’ concept which is accessed by dual teak staircases featuring recessed LED lighting. The ‘Beach Club’ transforms the area into a private outdoor sanctuary complete with innovative X-TEND sunbed that converts under an optional parasol.

Beneath, is an overhead rain shower and plentiful stowage including dedicated lockers for two Seabobs with charging points. The extended bathing platform is perfect for carrying a tender and there is also an option of a flybridge crane for a jet ski or similar. The vast flybridge on the Sunseeker 88 Yacht enjoys a superb layout with beautifully appointed furniture on the spacious aft deck and the option of an infinity spa bath with sun pad. It’s a fantastic space for entertaining with plentiful places to sit and relax thanks to shaped companion seating adjacent to the helm, and extended U-shaped seating opposite a feature wet bar with ice maker, grill and two fridges or optional drawer-refrigeration.

Customers can also opt for fixed stools to turn this into a sociable bar area. The teak foredeck features another private, social space with a Portuguese bridge, large sunbathing area and comfortable lounge seating which is complemented by premium teak side decks as standard.

The main deck is nothing short of spectacular. Inside, there is a large forward galley helping to maximize the open-plan entertaining space. It gives owners and crew an amazing amount of practical storage space, as well as a dedicated fixed breakfast bar unit with two stools, creating an additional informal dining space. The galley has a full height premium fridge freezer and dishwasher as standard and can be specified with optional wine coolers.

There is also the ability to fully close off the galley, allowing crew to move around the yacht unnoticed with access from the lower helm on the starboard side that gives owners the chance to enjoy complete privacy. The yacht has a large storage spaces as standard set behind the helm station or alternatively, customers can opt for a day head.

The helm features independent seating and a glass bridge with flush screens incorporating the new Simrad NSO evo3 range. With double the power of previous screens, owners will enjoy a cleaner console look with a simplified and intuitive user interface that see controls moved to navigation screens.Owners will also have access to mySunseeker, a new app that allows customers to control multiple systems from an onboard iPad or from their phone.

Midship sits a grand fixed table for eight guests with low profile stowage alongside the sofa and an additional mid-height storage area with shelving, that doubles up as a bar area and display unit. Floor to ceiling glazing floods the yacht with natural daylight, complemented by optional sliding doors to starboard.

The interior has a real feeling of opulence

The saloon offers a variety of seating configurations and an opulent feel throughout thanks to beautiful new fabrics and leathers. Central is a coffee table with push touch panels giving access to storage within, and owners can enjoy a 55” TV as standard with even more stowage underneath. The uninterrupted view continues through the saloon lobby to the main staircase which leads to all lower accommodation.

Designed and built by Sunseeker, Cassiopeia was delivered in 2009 and lightly refitted before summer 2020.

The interior has a real feeling of opulence and clever design cues throughout that really make the yacht stand out, including diagonal stainless detailing on cabinetry and doors. The layering of textural elements and the mix of furnishings and fabrics feels timeless with a modern twist that oozes style and elegance with a range of plush colours and finishes available.

To maximise space, Sunseeker has located the opulent master stateroom central to the yacht, making the most of her substantial beam. There is a real feeling of ‘luxe’ with beautiful leathers, fabrics and splashes of mirrored bronze featured throughout. The master stateroom with its 55” TV as standard, enjoys a spacious dressing area with double wardrobe and adjacent in the en suite featuring exquisite surfaces throughout are double sinks, an overhead rain shower and plentiful stowage.

The yacht also features a luxurious VIP forward cabin with wardrobe and en suite on a par with the master stateroom, as well as two further double cabins with dedicated en-suites. There is an option for two single fixed beds, twin sliding single beds or a fixed full double in each guest room. Each cabin enjoys full height wardrobes and extended glazing with new window profiles, with all guests sleeping in the same luxury afforded to the master cabin.

For the charter market, an optional fifth cabin is even possible in lieu of the standard master stateroom. The crew cabin, with capacity for four or five, benefits from a kitchenette, crew mess, en-suite and the provision of two appliances.

Sunseeker 182 Ocean Reviewed

The Sunseeker Ocean 182 is named for its gross tonnage, not its 89-foot length overall. Gross tonnage measures internal volume, which is fitting because this British boatbuilder maximized every inch of space on board to enhance the cruising experience.

Stepping into the salon, I was immediately impressed by the 7-foot sole-to-ceiling salon windows, which help the gathering area to feel immense. A sofa to starboard can easily seat eight guests across from the 65-inch 4K TV. To port, Tiepolo leather armchairs and a Silestone coffee table create a conversation nook near the breeze from the open sliding side doors. The low-profile furnishings add to the sense of openness, with big views all around, from the aft deck to the forward windows.

The decor also feels lush. Sunseeker blended brushed-oak soles with an insert carpet in the salon—as well as satin-finish smoked eucalyptus and gunmetal gray lacquer on the consoles and cabinet doors—to create depth, character and a sense of tactile luxury. A curved staircase to the flybridge enhances this sensibility even more: It’s styled to be unobtrusive yet graceful, with floating steps and polished stainless-steel railings.

Forward and to starboard is the dining table, under the forward windows for yet more natural light. Sufficiently elegant for formal or casual meals, it’s adjacent to the galley, which has Miele appliances and enough countertop space for a couple of chefs to work.

Entertaining is one of the main objectives of the Ocean 182, and it’s evident in every aspect of its design. Work areas are minimized to reduce or eliminate wasted space. Case in point: the helm. There is a flybridge helm but no lower station, which means owners can enjoy the forward main-deck space with guests.

The sense of luxury carries through to the lower-deck accommodations. The owners’ stateroom is full-beam and just forward of amidships with volume-enhancing hullside windows and 6-foot-11-inch headroom. A vanity to port doubles as a desktop with a workspace. To starboard is a sofa. The walk-in closet is a great touch, and the en suite has his-and-hers sinks and a shower stall.

Three en suite guest staterooms include a forepeak VIP with a double berth, a stateroom with a double berth abaft the master to port, and a stateroom with twin berths across the companionway to starboard. Two crew cabins with a head and mess area separate the guest areas from the engine room.

Up top, where some yachts have a flybridge that looks like an add-on, the Ocean 182 has a raked main-deck superstructure forward. It flows seamlessly up into the equally raked enclosed flybridge. Angular supports flank the bridge and rise dramatically toward the aftersection of the hardtop, punctuating the yacht’s muscular profile. To me, the forward section of the hardtop appears as a subtle hat tip toward the sea, daring it to take on the Ocean 182’s bow.

The helm has a single seat for the skipper, along with Garmin electronics, including twin 24-inch multifunction displays, a 96-nautical-mile radar, sonar, autopilot and AIS. There’s plenty of seating for guests at a modular U-shaped sofa, with lounges and chairs aft that can be configured to an owner’s taste.

During our time away from the dock, we saw 20-knot north winds and steady 4- to 5-footers trying to impose their will. A north wind against a north-flowing Gulf Stream always makes for a solid test of a yacht’s mettle, and there were no moans or groans from the Ocean 182. The yacht—with its efficient hull form, stout construction and CMC fin stabilizers—tipped that flybridge hat and didn’t flinch an inch.

Optional twin 1,900 hp MAN V-12 diesel engines (1,650 hp MANs and 2,000 hp MANs are also available) got the 181,440-pound yacht up and running in efficient fashion. The Ocean 182 averaged 27-plus knots at wide-open throttle in the lumpy sea. At 12 knots, this craft can cruise nonstop for 1,147 nautical miles, considering a 5 percent fuel reserve on the 3,434-gallon fuel capacity.

The Sunseeker Ocean 182 is on point for performance, style and luxury. Sunseeker took extra care in optimizing finite real estate, and ensured that fixtures and entertainment spaces are at a high level of opulence. The yard’s creativity in penning such sleek exterior lines at this length overall is also an admirable achievement, one that many owners likely will tip their hats to.

Beach Club Plus

The aft deck converts to a beach club—and more. There’s a hydraulic platform for access to and from the water. It makes launching the water toys easy. With Sunseeker’s XTEND system, a double-wide chaise folds out via a transom door. Close it and flip up the transom door to reveal another seat, along with stowage for water toys. Or create a chaise that is level with the seating and accessible from the aft deck. 

Sunseeker created a foredeck lounge large enough for friends, friends of friends, and their friends too. This multi use space has a forward-facing bench seat, a three-person sun pad forward of that, and bench seating along the port and starboard bulwarks.

Moscow’s New Supertall Skyscraper Approved for Construction

Moscow officials have approved a new supertall building that will become the city's tallest skyscraper . Rising 404 meters (1,325 feet) in height as part of the Moscow City commercial district, the tower is designed by Sergey Skuratov Architects. The unnamed structure will be a multifunctional residential complex with 109 floors. The new skyscraper will break Moscow's current tall building record set by Federation Tower at 373-meter-tall (1,226 feet) tall. Construction is scheduled to begin next year.

The new skyscraper joins a host of other superlative buildings in Moscow City, including five of the ten tallest buildings in Europe, all supertall structures.The district's Federation Tower currently holds the title of Europe's tallest completed skyscraper. Soon, it will be surpassed by St. Petersburg's Lakhta Center , which will rise 462 meters when complete in 2019. When complete, Skuratov's skyscraper in Moscow will become Europe's second tallest building.

Designed with two main volumes, the new supertall design includes a 12 story base structure with offices, a shopping center and a range of commercial facilities. Above, residences will rise to the 104th floor. Capped with a helipad, the project includes an observation at 399 meters (1,309 feet) above ground. The project's facade will feature a gradient of white glass between windows that disappears by the 80th floor. As Skuratov explains, "The plan of the building is an isosceles (trapezoid) 30 meters wide, truncated on one side, facing the Moskva River. The sloping edge on the west side of the tower follows the direction of one of the nearby streets. The other edge is vertical and points toward the center of Moscow."

Pleasantly surprised, service is good so is the food. Great selection of Fusion food, a mixture of Italian, Japanese, European, Asian etc. A pleasantly nice dining experience, highly recommended, a must try!

Best food, best view in Moscow. absolutely faultless from arrival to finish. Best risotto i had for many years absolutely perfectly cooked. The view on Ukrainian hotel and the white house by night is amazing

Had to wait for the food for 1.5 hours and then another 20 minutes for the check. Finally called for the manager and he offered... a 10% discount as a compensation. Simply pathetic! The food is mediocre at best. Not bad per se, but one... would expect something better considering the prices. There are many places to eat in area that are much better. Avoid this one at all costs. Food is very expensive,very pretentious, doesn't worth that money. Portions are very small. We ordered ravioli and there were 4! Four raviolis! For almost 15 euros. Then we asked to bring us dessert menu but nothing, they didn't even bothered, so we payed and left... without dessert. Very poor service for that price. More

This is a very good restaurant. The food is really good, maybe the best in Moscow. The service is also good. The view from the restaurant is great. The prices are very high.

I often visit this restaurant and must say it’s one of the best in Moscow in terms of quality and service. Staff really try hard to make sure that you are happy and satisfied. Customer service is a huge problem in Moscow but Chaika sets... a great example for others in the industry! Food is delicious and the menu has lots of options for everyone! Visited this lovely restaurant with a friend of mine. It was relaxingly warm August evening - so the place on the river seemed like a good idea. We came quite early and the restaurant was not full. The hostesses kindly offered several places to sit... and we chose to sit on the sofas. We had some wine, which was good. We struggled a bit when deciding about the food as few options (scallops) were not available. Fish on ice on display did not look very fresh. To be honest it was an unusually hot August and it is probably understandable that some see food options were not available. However, we did manage to order something and sat waiting and looking onto the river. My long-legged friend struggled sitting at the low sofa and the manager noticed that, offering as a very good, proper table beside the open window. It was nice touch and I was very pleased by their polite observations and immediate reaction to solve the problem. Food was quite good and presentation was perfect. Perhaps I can something about the food, but 1 visit is not enough to criticize or make a definitive opinion. Overall, quality place, which of course, does not come cheap. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation. More

The luxurious atmosphere of this place, the view and the location make it quite outstanding. We had dinner here with friends and the dishes were amazing, accompanied by a chilled bottle of Chablis, it really made me feel as if it was a part of... the classic Russian movie. More
