"River Miss" is a 1997 Mainship 350 modern trawler in excellent condition with classic trawler lines & built on a modified -V hull with shallow, full length keel. Her 14'2" beam makes these trawlers’ main cabin very spacious with plenty of room for a full galley, lower helm, and beautiful sofa. River Miss has a very pretty Custom Hi-Lo table with two leaves Two cabins, the main forward one with an Island Queen berth and the second guest cabin with twin beds that makes sleeping for four very comfortable. The single head is roomy and contains a large separate shower stall. Large cockpit, easy to navigate molded staircase to the flybridge, plenty of space and seating to entertain a group of people and a well-equipped upper helm this Yacht has everything a modest sized live aboard desire. Powered with a 325 HP Cat 3116 Diesel she has plenty of power to reach 13-15 knots but, cruises efficiently at 8 to 9 knots getting to 3 MPG. A 9kw Onan generator provides plenty of AC power to operate all systems on the boat. All fiberglass decks reduce maintenance while the interior maintains a nice balance of teak. This trawler has been in Fresh Water since new! The forward deck can be reached from the cockpit via comfortable walkways on port and starboard. Once in the cockpit, a sliding door leads to the main cabin and a molded spiraling staircase to starboard leads up to the flybridge. Access to the main cabin is made easy through the large, sliding glass door in the cockpit. Once inside the main cabin, the L shaped galley is to port, the companionway to the berthing compartments is centered forward and the lower helm, seating/dining area are to starboard. Down the companionway the berthing compartment is laid out with the guest cabin to port, head to starboard and master cabin forward in the bow. On the flybridge is a large open deck aft and forward are bench seats to port and starboard, a fold out table between them and a single captains chair at the flybridge helm forward. He works out of the Youngstown and Buffalo offices and lives in Lewiston with his wife Aly and kids Cole & Louise.

New Rochelle, one of the 10 most populous cities in New York State, is in Westchester County on the Long Island Sound. The first European settlers were a French Protestant group known as Huguenots who were fleeing religious persecution in 1688. Many were from the French city, La Rochelle, which is how New Rochelle got its name. There is a monument in the city’s Hudson Park commemorating these early settlers. The area’s indigenous people, a tribe of Algonquian-speaking Lenape (Delaware) Indians had sold land to Englishman, Thomas Pell who promptly deeded acreage to the Huguenot group of families allowing them to establish a French refugee community, who continued to immigrate until 1760 and develop a farming community. During the American Revolution, New Rochelle remained neutral ground, giving General Washington a place to regroup from area battles, especially the Battle of White Plains.

In the 19th and 20th centuries, as waves of European (Irish, German) immigration continued to flow into New York City, families of earlier immigrants moved out into nearby suburbs such as New Rochelle, changing the demographics, though the established French Huguenot families held key business, social and political positions. In 1900, as the population reached about 15,000, real estate developers bought up farms, estates and wooded areas to develop the first master-planned residential neighborhoods (e.g. Rochelle Park), earning it the nickname, “City of Homes.” During this time of the industrial innovation, Edwin Thanhouser produced the first serial motion picture, “Million Dollar Mystery” through his company, the Thanhouser Film Company, founded 1909 in New Rochelle. Another notable first, Anna Jones of New Rochelle was the first African American woman to be admitted to the New York State bar in 1923. During the 1930s, New Rochelle was the wealthiest city per capita in New York and third wealthiest in the entire nation.

Like most populous suburbs of New York City, upgrading of transportation systems and repurposing of former industrial or outmoded commercial and/or residential areas became the trend at the end of the 20th century, as rapidly increasing technology brought about changes in every facet of life, especially entertainment. In New Rochelle, the Metro North railroad Station was rebuilt along with “New Roc City,” a $190 million entertainment complex, featuring a 19-screen movie theater, IMAX theater, ice-hockey arena, restaurants, hotel, arcade, mini-golf, a mega-size supermarket and more, on the former mid-1960s New Rochelle Mall site. 21st century planning calls for further redevelopment, including a mixed-use waterfront area with expected completion in 2024.

New Rochelle has a total of 9.3 miles waterfront, including offshore islands and coves. Several private yacht, sailing and rowing clubs and marinas dot the shoreline providing members with summertime recreational and social activities. Glen Island is a 105-acre island property connected to the New Rochelle mainland by a drawbridge built in the 1920s. Its main feature is the crescent-shaped beach on the Long Island Sound. The island is among a group of 5 that were purchased in 1879 by a wealthy former Congressman and transportation mogul, John H. Starin who developed the islands into America’s first public theme park. A fleet of 12 steamboats transported millions of City dwellers and other visitors to Glen Islands attractions that included a zoo, natural history museum, German beer garden, Chinese pagoda and of course, the beach. There are several other parks and preserves on various islands, on the city’s harbor front, former estates, forests and lakes, that offer hiking, educational and eco experiences, a dog park and much more for outdoor recreation. New Rochelle’s Wykagyl Country Club was ranked by Golfweek as one of America’s top 100 Classic Golf Courses. Nearby Pelham Country Club’s golf course is just one mile from Westchester/New York City border and Pelham Park.

The City of New Rochelle operates a marina with 300 slips and 150 mooring spaces that is the Long Island Sound’s “only Clean Green and ADA accessible” marina. Transient boaters are welcome; daily and weekly rates available. The New Rochelle Municipal Marina is the closest harborage dockage to New York City with a 20-min. train commute. Guests can walk to grocery stores and entertainment venues. The marina features fuel dock, winter boat storage, launching and hauling services, mobile and stationary pump-outs, facilities, vending and ice machines, electrical and water hook-ups, marine supplies and nearby marine services.

Castaways Yacht Club offers membership to individuals and families and is registered with Yachting Clubs of America for reciprocity with other member clubs. Visiting yachtsmen can contact the Harbormaster for reservations. The protected marina features stable docks, WiFi, cable TV, water and electrical power up to 100 amps at slips, fuel dock, facilities, and parking. Amenities include swimming pool and patio lounge, full repair and maintenance service onsite, clubhouse, bar and restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining. Long Island Sound has some of, if not the best boating in the USA and Castaways is 30 minutes from Manhattan Island, Ellis Island, New York Harbor, Statue of Liberty and loads of waterfront restaurants with dockage that line the shores of New York, Long Island and Connecticut. One waterfront world class, upscale French cuisine restaurant is L’Escale located in nearby Greenwich, CT at the Delamar Greenwich Harbor Hotel. Dockage is available to the restaurant’s diners arriving by boat. Castaways also sponsors group trips and overnight boating excursions for members.

Glen Island Yacht Club & West Harbor Yacht Service membership consists of seasonal and annual members, liveaboard members and transients (daily or weekly rates) and offers amenities such as 24/7 keypad access to the clubhouse with facilities, kitchen, lounge, BBQ and picnic table area next to clubhouse. Features floating walk-on and mid-channel docks, with water and 30-amp power on walk-on docks only, WiFi, ice and soda machines. The 4-piling floating dock is 144’ in mid-channel deep water. Members and visitors can bicycle to nearby Glen Island and Pelham Bay Parks, visit City Island restaurants and yacht clubs and more. Glen Island Yacht Club is convenient to transportation, Costco, Home Depot and grocery stores. West Harbor Yacht Service offers repairs, installations, and maintenance service, along with winter or summer dry storage. The facility can haul out 65’ LOA x 25’ beam and a 20’ beam at Service Dock lift.

Huguenot Yacht Club is a private historical yacht club founded in 1895 on Neptune Island along New Rochelle Harbor on the Long Island Sound that offers sailing regattas, yachting events and more. The yacht club offers a few transient boat slips (45’ LOA x 13’ beam), floating docks with 100 slips for 22’ to 60’ boats, 5 mooring slips (including 2 transient moorings), and dinghy dock in this safe harbor marina. Amenities include restaurant, swimming pool, pump-out, ice, facilities, water, WiFi, 30A & 50A electrical power and a 30-ton travel lift.

Wright Island Marina located in New Rochelle since 1982 is a year round full service marina with indoor service facility, fuel dock, 30A & 50A electrical power, 50-ton travel lift, 20-ton forklift, in a well-protected harbor with easy access to all of Long Island Sound in minutes. The marina is convenient to beaches, shopping, golf, hotels and New York City. Wright Island Marina can accommodate power and sail boats up to 65’ on floating docks—all with water, power, CATV, phone connection. Transients are welcome. The marina partners with Precision Marine Center for repairs, maintenance, etc. Amenities include swimming pool, reserved parking, security, Marina Grill onsite restaurant and bar for Dock & Dine.

Imperial Yacht Club located in a cove of Davenport neck is accessed via deep, wide, well-marked channel. Amber dock lights illuminate the slips in this protected, safe-haven, clean harbor that is moments away from the Long Island Sound and all the recreational opportunities it offers boaters. Full-service facilities provide repairs and maintenance services. The yacht club features Olympic size pool, floating docks, WiFi, water and cable hook-up, tennis, picnic area, a seasonal restaurant, facilities, 30A & 50A electrical power hook-ups, bagged ice, events/entertainment and experienced boatyard service. The Imperial Yacht Club has two other affiliated facilities and is convenient to nearby New Roc City, train service to Grand Central Station in New York City and Dock & Dine restaurants such as Louie’s Oyster Bar & Grill, River Fish, Pier Restaurant & Tiki Bar.
