Top 10 rarest and most valuable Xbox 360 games

Image of Yash Nair

The Xbox 360 is—prepare yourself for this—nearly two decades old. Now you feel old, don’t you? And of course, with a console that aged, there are bound to be tons of gems from its era—possibly even a few that went under the radar at their time of release.

Now, however, these diamonds in the rough are several times more expensive along with being extremely rare. Want to know the ones that will burn the biggest holes in your wallet? Well, you’re in the right place.

The 10 rarest and most expensive Xbox 360 games

Note that the prices listed for the games below were accurate, according to , at the time of writing, and are subject to change.

10) El Chavo Kart ($230.61)

Promotional art for El Chavo Kart.

Super Mario Kart who, am I right? If you’re kicking it in Spain or Latin America, chances are you’ve crossed paths with El Chavo , an animated TV show chronicling the escapades of a broke young lad and his gang. Now, if you’re outside that loop, this series might be a bit of a mystery.

And here’s the kicker—only around 5,000 copies made their way to the western side of the globe. It’s a seriously rare gem that collectors are keeping a close watch on. The twist? Despite being something of a Mario Kart doppelganger, the game itself is surprisingly well-crafted and genuinely fun. It might ride the coattails of a certain plumber with an iconic mustache, but when a rare game is also a blast, who’s complaining?

9) NCAA Football 14 ($244.44)

A football player player tackling another in NCAA Football 14.

When it comes to football games, the NFL has a bunch of titles, right? But let’s throw it back to college football in 2013 – that’s a different ball game. NCAA Football 14 is the last one repping the NCAA name. Why? Licensing drama and no cash for college players. This exclusivity and historical weight make it a gem for collectors.

8) Mass Effect [Collector’s Edition] ($279.95)

Promotional art from Mass Effect.

Back in the day, before EA’s Mass Effect became the juggernaut it is today, the first game dropped with this cool limited Collector’s Edition. It was like a treasure chest, housing the game in a slick steelbook, throwing in an art book, and even tossing a novel into the mix. Not bursting at the seams with extras like a couple of the other wallet-burning titles on this list, but hey, the game hit the big leagues, and its fanbase kept growing.

Now, sealed copies are pulling in big bucks, hitting a cool $280 and sometimes even going beyond the $300 mark. If you’re thinking about snagging this title, maybe give those slightly expensive mouse clicks a go before the Collector’s Edition of Mass Effect starts getting even pricier. Just a friendly heads-up.

7) The Beatles: Rock Band [Limited Edition] ($465.00)

Promotional art for The Beatles: Rock Band.

When you talk rock bands, they don’t get much bigger than The Beatles, right? That’s probably why this special Rock Band edition is a hot ticket. With 45 Beatles tunes and heaps more as DLC, it’s not just the game that’s valuable – it’s the gear that came with it.

Forget trinkets and statues, this set rocks three Beatles-themed instrument controllers. You’ve got a Höfner bass styled after Sir Paul McCartney’s own. Thanks to the rhythm game’s decline, a bunch of these controllers got tossed out, and that’s likely what’s driving up their value.

6) Fallout 3 – Survival Edition ($469.78)

Promotional art for Fallout 3.

Price tags on rare games often fluctuate, but this is probably the most expensive era for Fallout 3 – Survival Edition . Bethesda’s Fallout series has had its fair share of collector’s editions, but let me tell you, the Survival Edition is like the VIP section of the Fallout party.

Now, Fallout has always been a hit on Xbox , thanks to Bethesda’s makeover from strategy to full-blown RPG awesomeness. But snagging the Fallout 3 – Survival Edition ? That’s like finding a unicorn on the black market—rare and kinda pricey. Blame it on the insane level of detail and cool stuff it comes with. Plus, with all the buzz around recent Fallout releases, this bad boy just got even more elusive.

Picture this: you score a life-size Pip-Boy 3000 replica, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The Collector’s Edition goodies are all there – making-of DVD, Vault-Tec lunch box, in-game treats, and some seriously cool artwork. It’s like Christmas for Fallout fans, but you gotta hunt for it!

5) F1 2013 ($492.00)

F1 cars lined up in F1 2013.

Just like many games on this list, F1 2013 saw its price shoot up in the years following its release, mainly due to its limited production. But, unlike some others, the high price tag here isn’t just about scarcity – it’s because the game is darn good.

F1 2013 , the Formula 1 racing masterpiece from Codemasters for the Xbox 360, brings you all the official drivers, teams, and real-world circuits from the 2013 FIA Formula One World Championship season. This isn’t just a racing game; it’s an authentic racing experience. With realistic graphics, responsive controls, and an eye for detail, F1 2013 delivers not just a trip down memory lane but a pricey one too. It’s not just about rarity; it’s about quality making its mark.

4) Titanfall [Collector’s Edition] ($540.00)

Promotional art for Titanfall.

Back in 2013, when the Xbox One was about to hit the scene, Titanfall was the talk of the town. But what if you were rocking an Xbox 360? Don’t fret – Titanfall made its way to the last-gen console too. Sure, most folks were eyeing the Xbox One version, which is why the Xbox 360 Collector’s Edition is like a hidden gem.

This bad boy came with an 18-inch Titan statue (with LED bling), a hefty 190-page art book, an Atlas Titan poster, and, of course, the game. Priced at a jaw-dropping $249.99, it was a splurge. Surprisingly, it hasn’t skyrocketed in value, hanging around its original price.

Hold on though—if you happen to own a sealed copy, you could rake in a cool $540 from serious collectors. Even if you’ve had your gaming session with Titanfall and want to pass on your complete-in-box collector’s edition, you’re still looking at a sweet $300 or so in today’s market. Not bad for some gaming nostalgia.

3) Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning [Exclusive Signature Edition] ($630.63)

Promotional art for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

Ever heard of a game with a backstory as wild as Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning ? Brace yourself. It’s like a fantasy dream team came together for this one. Picture this: a famous fantasy novelist, R. A. Salvadore, co-wrote it. Todd McFarlane, the genius behind Spawn , added his artistic flair as the “Art Boss.”

And guess what? One of the brains behind Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion designed the gameplay. But wait, there’s more—Curt Schilling, the Boston Red Sox pitcher, chipped in to create the game’s setting. Now, here’s the kicker—it was partially bankrolled by Rhode Island taxpayers which allegedly lost the state millions of dollars. Ouch.

Now, let’s talk rarity. The Exclusive Signature Edition is like Bigfoot – they say there are only 300 of them out there. Collectors are shelling out around $630 for sealed copies. It’s not just a game; it’s a collector’s goldmine!

2) Dead Space – Ultra Limited Edition ($2,500)

Promotional art for Dead Space.

The Xbox 360 era really cranked up the “collector’s edition” trend. Among the special editions for high-profile games on the 360, there’s one that stands out both in terms of value as well as status.

The Dead Space Ultra Limited Edition for the Xbox was a gem with only a thousand copies out there, loaded with Dead Space awesomeness that easily justified its original $149 price. You got the game, of course, plus an artbook, a graphic novel, and lithographs signed by the game’s art director and executive producer.

Back when Dead Space wasn’t the instant hit it is now, this collector’s edition wasn’t an obvious success. Fast forward, and with the game selling over a million copies and birthing two sequels, newer fans can’t help but eye this rare and seriously cool edition. But yeah, you’re currently gonna need to shell over $2000 for this bad boy. Got some spare change lying around?

1) NBA Elite 11 (current price unknown; estd. price $5,000 – $30,000)

A basketball player scoring a shot airborne in NBA Elite 11.

NBA Elite 11 snags the No. 1 spot on this list, and by a very, very long shot. Much like other rare and expensive titles, however, this rare gaming artifact is a gem due to its short printing, abruptly halted by EA Sports.

Deemed unfit for an official release due to numerous bugs, including one where the Chicago Bulls’ Luol Deng almost never missed from the left baseline, the game was swiftly pulled from store shelves and essentially canceled—yet a few survivors remain.

There aren’t many copies of this game circulating; in fact, there should only be about a handful of NBA Elite 11’s Xbox 360 versions out there in houses across the globe. Keep your eyes peeled to see if they appear on the internet again.

The fortunate few who spot one of these highly endangered gaming species’ copies out in the wild can expect prices to range anywhere between $5,000 to $30,000, according to various sources on the internet. And no, your eyes aren’t deceiving you; this game will indeed bankrupt you.

Top 10 Best Horror Games for the Xbox 360

Best Horror Games Xbox 360: We've sifted through the mass of titles on the Xbox 360 to find (number) of the most haunting & Scariest titles the system has to offer. You'll want to play these games with the lights off.

Who doesn't love a good scare? What with the recent onslaught of terror-inducing games like Amnesia: The Dark Descent, and the Dead Space series, the survival horror genre is still going strong! We've compiled a list of the top 10 scariest games for the 360 drawing upon newer titles, as well as some time-honored classics. These chillers are certain to get your blood pumping!

#10 F.E.A.R. 2

f.e.a.r 2

Shortly before the conclusion of the events in F.E.A.R., Delta Force operator Michael Becket is sent to take Genevieve Aristide into custody for her own protection. However, when his unit arrives, Aristide's home is already under attack from a black ops team from ATC Security. Upon rescuing Aristide, Becket learns of a project called "Harbinger" which could be the only way to stop the supernatural force known as Alma, whose paranormal rage threatens to overtake the very fabric of reality.

Fans of the first title will be please to know that F.E.A.R. 2's AI is a natural evolution of the already clever and exploitative AI from the original game. Players are able to use more of the environment in combat for situations such as blocking and hiding, as well the ability to use mechs during parts of the game that take place in vehicles.  With more supernatural enemies than ever before, F.E.A.R. 2 does not disappoint!

#9 Alone in the Dark

alone in the dark

Edward, an amnesiac paranormal investigator is in deep trouble. Held captive in an unknown building by armed guards, he is about to meet his ultimate demise when suddenly, an invisible presence kills the guards and enables Edward's escape. From there, he meets Sarah Flores and learns of a mysterious stone which is revealed to be responsible for the deaths of the guards, among other gruesome and unexplained circumstances.

Released in 2008, this eponymous 5th installment of the AitD series is somewhat of a departure from previous games, in that it is highly episodic. Players can choose to skip sections of the game if they become stuck, and can also switch back and forth between first and third person perspective.

#8 Fallout 3

fallout 3

While technically more of an RPG with survival horror elements, Fallout 3 is considered by many to be the strongest game in the series. Shortly after the player-created character turns 19, he or she escapes Vault 101 to search for missing father James. Aided by favorite canine companion, Dogmeat, the player must venture into what was once Washington, D.C., and face various factions of survivors, including the Brotherhood of Steel, the Outcasts, and the Enclave.

Fallout 3 features top notch voice talent, including Liam Neeson, Malcolm McDowell and Ron Perlman, as well a very classy vintage soundtrack. Items and weapons can degrade over time, and the health system is particularly unique in that it involves both overall health in the form of a primary damage bar, but also divides secondary health among various body parts, which can take individual damage and eventually become disabled in combat if the player is not able to heal quickly.

#7 Resident Evil 5

resident evil 5

This 5th entry in the wildly popular series sees players take control of either Sheva Alomar or Chris Redfield who are tasked with apprehending suspected terrorist threat Ricardo Irving, as he is suspected of plotting to sell a powerful bioweapon on the black market.

Long-time fans of the series will be familiar with Resident Evil 5's inventory system, as it is quite similar to that of Resident Evil Outbreak and Resident Evil Outbreak File 2. The third-person, over-the-shoulder perspective remains consistent with that seen in Resident Evil 4, as well. However, Resident Evil 5 offers a heavily expanded slew of new weapons, as well as online co-op, and split-screen local play.

#6 Silent Hill Homecoming

silent hill homecoming

Silent Hill is one of the most revered survival horror video game franchises of all time, inspiring two film spin-offs (yes, you've read that correctly. A second one is being filmed right now) and countless Pyramid Head internet memes. However, the series seemed to lose some of its bite with the current console generation's titles until Silent Hill Homecoming came along.

Players become Alex Shepherd, a soldier who has just returned home from active duty to find his father and brother missing, and his mother left behind in a coma. Filled with unsettling psychological thrills and revelations about characters and monsters alike, Silent Hill Homecoming is the strongest recent title from this series, and definitely worth playing.

#5 Left 4 Dead 1+2

This series, while not the first to deal with a zombie apocalypse, was groundbreaking in terms of its co-op play and the ways in which players needed to work together to successfully complete campaigns. Combining modes of gameplay formerly seen only in warfare style games, both games in this series manage to combine the need for skilled FPS play, as well as the real life ability to communicate and coordinate with teammates.

It sounds cheesy, but players depend on each other for healing, extra ammo, and sometimes even to be freed from various obstacles. When one dies and respawns in a closet, one can do little else but yell for someone to come open the door! Definitely a must-play for fans of zombies and shooters alike.

#4 Dead Space 2

dead space 2

This direct sequel takes up approximately three years after the events in Dead Space. Isaac Clarke is still alive, but has amnesia and does not remember the horrors he encountered at the hands of the necromorphs. Just as he is being released from the hospital, where he has apparently been a mental patient, there is a necromorph attack in which Franco, the protagonist of Dead Space Ignition is killed and turned into a necromorph himself, before removing Isaac's straight jacket. Isaac must then fend for himself as he also begins to receive clues about the origin of the Marker, which has caused the necromorph infestation.

A third-person over-the-shoulder perspective works well with the lack of heads-up display, as players must rely on visual indicators of health that are built into Isaac's back. Weapons are able to be purchased at stores throughout the game, as well as upgraded at various points. Dead Space 2 also features multiplayer mode in which two teams of four go head-to-head as humans vs. necromorphs, each trying to accomplish a specific objective.

#3 Condemned 2

condemned 2

Ethan Thomas returns from the original Condemned, but his life has gone considerably downhill. After the events in the first game, Ethan has become a homeless alcoholic, suffering from paranoid delusions and hallucinations. When it is learned that his old enemy, Serial Killer X is possibly still alive, Ethan is recruited to the Serial Crime Unit to investigate. What he and partner Rosa discover, however, goes far deeper than the twisted imagination of one killer.

Featuring the same first person combat as the original game, Condemned 2 also incorporates aspects of adventure games as well as chained attack combos and quick time events for finishing moves. Be warned, though: relying too much on melee weapons is unadvised. They now break after a handful of strikes.

#2 Deadly Premonition

deadly premonition

Players take on the role of Francis York Morgan, an FBI agent who is investigating the death of Anna Graham, a young woman from the small town of Greenvale. It sounds like a simple enough premise, but throw in the fact that Francis has a partner in split personality named "Zach", and neither individual seems to possess very well developed "people skills", and things quickly become more complicated, especially when interacting with the local police and townspeople.

This open-world game is particularly effective at delivering a good scare, largely due to the day-night cycle which runs at one-third of real time. Additionally, all the various NPC inhabitants have schedules of their own, which further enhances the feeling of being immersed in an actual lucid world.

#1 Alan Wake

alan wake

From the makers of Max Payne comes Alan Wake, a novelist who, with his wife Alice, seeks refuge in the sleepy town of Bright Falls to alleviate his two-year long writer’s block. As someone who’s suffered from it from time to time, I can totally relate with Wake’s wanting to get away.

When Alice goes missing, it sets in motion a  sinister plot that envelopes the town of Bright Fall in a mysterious darkness. Alan realizes that the events reflect the pages of a manuscript written in his handwriting, and knows that he’s the only one who can get to the bottom of it. Armed with only a flashlight and a gun, he sets out into the dark to recover missing pages of the manuscript, intent on solving the mystery and figuring out how the story ends.

Like Max Payne before it, Alan Wake is an excellently written action thriller that not only plays well, but reads well.

Best Stealth Games Where You Play As A Ninja

  • If you want top-notch stealth and assassination mechanics (with maybe a hint of magical abilities), then we've got the games for you.
  • Some of these ninja-esque games give you the option to take a stealthy route versus a louder one.
  • Most of these games feature supernatural powers, offering high agility and mobile gameplay with skill-based combat using a sword of some kind.

Espionage, information gathering, social engineering, eavesdropping, assassination, sticking to the shadows, silent footsteps; what do you think of when you imagine a ninja? Stereotypically, it's probably a lean, limber fella dressed in dark clothing, creeping around, armed with traditional weaponry; Ninja Gaiden, anyone?

8 Best Indie Stealth Games

At minimum, though, most people would agree a ninja (especially one portrayed in a video game) is a highly skilled, stealthy, lethal, and focused individual with specific goals or missions. If this sounds like a fantasy you'd like to live out, without the real-world risk, why not snoop around and gather intel on these incredible stealth games? You might find a solution to your ninja cravings.

To be frank, we've taken liberties with the definition of the word "ninja." The entries that follow aim to capture the stealth spirit of the word more so than the actual Webster dictionary definition.

Dishonored 2

Corvo and emily are basically supernatural ninjas.

While the original Dishonored is fantastic, Dishonored 2 is top-notch stealth and assassination mechanics fun, packaged into a first-person RPG with the option to attain magical abilities. Well, you can also play without killing practically anyone, and forgo the fancy, magical powers if you want the challenge.

If you haven't played this Bethesda banger, it's highly likely it'll scratch that ninja itch of yours, even if the world is a bit too "modern" for classic ninja settings; you'll run into unhappy fellows with flintlock style pistols, and they're happy to shoot you with them if they detect you.

Mark Of The Ninja

Wait, what kind of mark do ninjas have again.

Oh, turns out ninjas can have all kinds of marks; cursed marks in particular. Well, that's how the story goes according to this game's universe. To be fair, though, those cursed marks do give you heightened senses and abilities in this 2D, Indie Platformer with hand-painted assets and a gameplay philosophy that rewards player choice.

While being silent and agile is a given, beyond that the choice is yours; do you want to be like a ghost that is never seen, or would you rather assassinate everyone in your path? Also, if you're a completionist, you'll be happy to hear each level you play has three score challenges to complete.

Seek Honor; You Are The Last Of Your Kin

In Aragami 2 , you play as one of the last remaining members of the Aragami, a group suffering from a supernatural sickness that gradually erodes your body and mind. The positive catch, though, is that you get to control Shadow Essence; the ability to control shadows.

10 RPGs With The Best Stealth Gameplay

Thanks to these powers, you are highly agile and mobile, able to jump around your environment with incredible speed. If you get caught, it's time to pull out your katana and get to slicing in high risk, high reward, skill-based combat.

Shadow Tactics: Blades Of The Shogun

Isometric views make it easier to hide in the shadows.

Although the strategic, isometric gameplay might be a bit of a change to get used to, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun offers a hardcore, tactical, real-time experience set in Japan's Edo period, which lasted from the early 1600s to the mid 1800s.

Control multiple, deadly specialists to sneak around and infiltrate a variety of environments and structures. Each member has their own skillset and idea on how a mission should be completed; trust them, or get creative and devise your own, lethal methodology to get the job done.

Ghost Of Tsushima

You know, ghost is in the name for a reason.

You've likely heard of this PS4 and PS5 hit, but if you've been on the fence about playing Ghost of Tsushima , this might be your sign to figure out a way to play it. Plus, this open-world, action adventure doesn't require you to rush in with a katana like a samurai, after all.

If you want, ambushing your enemies or eliminating them from afar with your bow are not only viable strategies, but are oftentimes highly effective as well. That's pretty much how the ninja methodology goes though; take them out before they even know you're there.

Don't Let The Graphics Scare You Away

Although Tenchu Z hearkens from the Xbox 360 era, you might be surprised at how much fun this game can be if you get past the dated graphics; just because you don't have nostalgia goggles on, doesn't mean it'll be a bad experience.

8 Best Stealth Games On Xbox Game Pass

Customize your very own, unique character, unlock skills, equip whatever clothing and items you like best, and figure out if you like the slow, high damage hits playstyle, or the fast, lower damage hits playstyle. Oh, and make sure the enemies don't hear your footsteps; channel your inner Skryim stealth archer.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

It has stealth mechanics; it's not just a soulslike.

While Sekiro certainly has the grandiose battles you'd expect from any Soulslike game, the movement and stealth mechanics are more in-depth than you might expect, which you'll benefit from utilizing; turns out, being the protector of a young lord makes you a lot of enemies.

The problem is, in your disfigured, less than ideal state, the lord you were protecting was captured, and it's up to you to traverse a dark world set in late 1500s Japan, and ultimately complete a rescue mission to restore your honor. Pretty awesome, right?

Well, It's A Bit More Than Just Stealing

In Thief, you play as a master of skullduggery, exploring a city caught in the midst of an uprising thanks to an oppressive Baron spreading fear and dissent through his guards and Draconian methods. It's kind of messed up, but this is the perfect opportunity to perform some heists.

As you venture through this troubled city, you have the freedom to explore dark alleyways and rooftops, break into rich people's mansions, and take out guards however you see fit, whether that be with an up-close and personal thwack with a blackjack, a well-placed arrow from afar, or something else.

How to Play the BioShock Games in Chronological Order

Navigating a trilogy timeline that spans universes..

Callum Williams Avatar

Players were enamored by the BioShock series from the moment they escaped a crashed aircraft, entered a mysterious lighthouse, and embarked on their undersea voyage to the crumbling city of Rapture. Often referenced and paid tribute to, many consider Irrational Games’ immersive action-horror classic a masterpiece, and in the years following its debut, it blossomed into a long-running franchise.

But in classic BioShock fashion, its sequels were the furthest thing from traditional. As expected for a series that hinges on otherworldly scientific discoveries and reality-tearing experiments, BioShock's story frequently switches between alternate universes, leaving its games out of chronological order.

So, for those looking for a linear way to play through BioShock’s full narrative, here’s a quick runthrough of the BioShock series in chronological order.

  • How to play in chronological order
  • How to play by release date

How Many BioShock Games Are There?

In total, there are four BioShock Games (three released on home console and PC and one released exclusively on PC via web browser) and three expansions.

This list won’t include remasters or ports, including the BioShock Collection , which bundled remasters of the full trilogy and its expansions. It also won’t contain challenge map packs, such as Clash in the Clouds or BioShock’s Challenge Rooms DLC, as these are purely gameplay-focused and thus considered non-canon.

Every BioShock Game in Chronological Order

These blurbs contain mild spoilers for each game, including characters, settings, and story beats.

1. BioShock Infinite: Industrial Revolution

ghost games xbox 360

Launching as a pre-order bonus for BioShock Infinite, BioShock Infinite: Industrial Revolution was a browser-based flash game that acted as a prequel to Infinite’s story. Casting players as a worker completing cog-based puzzles, Industrial Revolution allowed pre-ordering customers to unlock special items and upgrades that transferred to BioShock Infinite.

As players completed challenges, they learned more about the conflicts running through Infinite’s world, including the battle between the Vox Populi and the Founders. They could even choose which of the two groups to support, unlocking different rewards as a result.

Note : The game was shut down a decade ago and is no longer available to play online.

2. BioShock Infinite

ghost games xbox 360

The third mainline BioShock game, BioShock Infinite follows a Pinkerton detective named Booker Dewitt. Drowning in debt, Dewitt is tasked with a simple mission to wipe away what he owes: venture to the city of Columbia and locate a mysterious girl named Elizabeth.

However, when Dewitt arrives in Columbia, things are far from simple. Columbia is a city floating above the clouds and its citizens have branded Booker a “False Shepherd”, rallying together to execute him. Things get even stranger when Booker finally locates and rescues Elizabeth, who reveals she can open tears in reality, allowing her to reach into other universes.

Teaming with Elizabeth to escape Columbia, players are taken on an adventure through the flying metropolis, facing off against the locals, their towering mechanical security bots, and Elizabeth’s relentless bodyguard, Songbird. Along the way, they can open rifts to other dimensions using Elizabeth's unique powers, utilizing her gifts to scrounge up resources or venture into new realities altogether.

3. BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea - Part 1

Set in the same universe as BioShock and BioShock 2, BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea - Part 1 is the first of two expansions for BioShock Infinite. The DLC follows an alternate-universe Booker Dewitt who acts as a private detective in the city of Rapture. Set before Rapture’s downfall, the game begins with Dewitt meeting Elizabeth, who tasks him with assisting her in rescuing a missing girl named Sally.

Burial at Sea’s first part allows players to explore a fully operational Rapture set before the events of the first game. Alongside getting to see the city as it once was, the DLC includes several returning faces from previous Rapture adventures, including Sander Cohen and Yi Suchong.

4. BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea - Part 2

Taking place directly after the events of Burial at Sea - Part 1, Burial at Sea - Part 2 switches control from Booker to Elizabeth. Waking up after the dramatic conclusion of the previous expansion, Elizabeth meets Atlas, who strikes a deal with her: He’ll let her and Sally live if she can help him escape Fontaine's Department Store and return to Rapture.

Taking on a new stealth-focused playstyle to fit Elizabeth's skill set, players explore Fontaine's Department Store, attempting to figure out how to return to Rapture and save Sally. Burial at Sea - Part 2 was Irrational Games’ and BioShock creator Ken Levine’s final take on the BioShock universe. It attempts to wrap up some of the franchise’s biggest mysteries while directly setting up the events of the original game.

5. BioShock

ghost games xbox 360

The franchise's debut entry, BioShock follows Jack, the sole survivor of a devastating plane crash. Escaping the wreckage of the accident, he finds refuge in a mysterious lighthouse, where he discovers a submarine that transports him to the underwater city of Rapture. Although the city looks like a technological marvel from afar, Jack quickly realizes it’s hardly the oceanic utopia it appears to be.

Envisioned as a neon-lit metropolis where society’s greatest minds are allowed ethical and creative freedom with no governmental intervention, Rapture is a fallen wasteland by the time Jack arrives. The blood-drenched streets are patrolled by monstrous citizens slaughtering each other in search of a genetic-splicing drug known as Adam, while the city’s shadowy founder, Andrew Ryan, controls the ruins with an iron fist.

Teaming with a fellow survivor named Atlas, players are tasked with venturing through the city, attempting to escape Rapture and return to the surface. Along the way, they gain access to plasmids, powerful injections that unlock elemental powers. In the years following its release, BioShock has become a classic, with many regarding it as one of the best games of all time.

Read our review of Bioshock .

6. BioShock 2

ghost games xbox 360

A sequel to BioShock, BioShock 2 was developed by 2K Marin rather than Irrational. Strapping players into the hulking suit of a Big Daddy, BioShock 2 has players return to the submerged dystopia of Rapture eight years after the events of BioShock.

Taking control of a Big Daddy codenamed Subject Delta, the story follows the towering protagonist searching through the ruins of Rapture for a Little Sister he used to protect. Along the way, he’s pursued by Sofia Lamb, a scientist who’s filled the power vacuum left by the deaths of Frank Fontaine and Andrew Ryan.

BioShock 2 was largely a continuation of the gameplay and themes of the first game, albeit with a hefty arsenal of brutal Big Daddy weaponry and a new mechanic where players defend Little Sisters while they scavenge Adam.

7. BioShock 2: Minerva’s Den

An expansion for BioShock 2 that occurs alongside the events of the main campaign, Minerva’s Den follows a second Big Daddy codenamed Subject Sigma. Tasked with tracking down and accessing The Thinker – Rapture’s computer mainframe – Sigma works alongside the creator of the system, Charles Milton Porter, to retrieve it.

Minerva’s Den offered a short campaign that fills in some crucial Rapture lore and offers new gear, including the Ion Laser and Gravity Well Plasmid. Minerva’s Den currently marks the end of the BioShock timeline.

What’s Next for BioShock?

Plans are already well underway for a major BioShock return. After years of leaks and rumors, 2K officially announced the series was getting another entry back in 2019, which we are tentatively labeling Bioshock 4 . Following the closure of Irrational Games, developer Cloud Chamber will be the brains behind the next BioShock, although there's little indication of how far along the reboot currently is.

Although we know it's in the works, we’ve still yet to see the sequel in action or hear more about the Cloud Chamber’s direction for the series. That’s not to say we have no information on the sequel though. For one, we know Ghost of Tsushima writer Liz Albl has taken up the role of narrative lead . The game will seemingly also follow BioShock Infinite’s lead by opting for a fresh setting, with job listings referencing the team building a “new and fantastical world.”

A sequel isn't the only long-awaited BioShock product currently in production. Back in 2022, Netflix revealed it had greenlit a movie adaptation of the original BioShock . Netflix later confirmed the film will be directed by I Am Legend and Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes director Francis Lawrence, while the script is being handled by Michael Green, one of the writers behind Blade Runner 2049 and Logan.

BioShock creator Ken Levine’s next project, Judas , is also deep in development. From the early glimpse we saw at The Game Awards in 2022, it seems akin to BioShock, from the dual-wielding combat to the high-concept sci-fi setting. If all goes to plan, it seems BioShock fans will be feasting on a banquet of twisted sci-fi goodness over the next few years.

All horror games releasing in 2024 (ps5, xbox, pc, switch).

Following the strong horror game releases of the previous year, 2024 has a strong lineup of classic remakes and original releases to offer.

  • Every Horror Game Coming Out In Q2 2024
  • 2024 Horror Games With Unconfirmed Release Dates
  • 2024 is set to bring some major horror game releases, including highly anticipated titles like The Last of Us Part II Remastered and the remake of Silent Hill 2 .
  • Many of the upcoming horror games don't have confirmed release dates yet and are set to release at undefined dates within the year.
  • The first quarter of 2024 will see the release of anticipated horror games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl , with the potential for delays pushing some releases to later in the year.

Although horror isn't the biggest or most prolific genre in gaming, 2024 is still looking to bring some major releases within the genre, with highly anticipated titles like The Last of Us Part II Remastered and the remake of Silent Hill 2 set to launch this year. Following the well-received horror remakes and sequels of 2023, which included games like Dead Space , Resident Evil 4 , and Alan Wake II , 2024 is set to see the release of smaller original titles along the lines of Dredge and Amnesia: The Bunker , with genres ranging from more action-oriented survival horror titles to more exploration or text-based games.

Although some of 2024's upcoming horror games have received trailers showing story or gameplay, many of them still don't have hard confirmed release dates, with most titles past the first quarter set to release at undefined dates within the year. Some games, like Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 , were originally announced for earlier releases in 2023 or even earlier but have since been delayed to undefined dates in 2024. Like with the action games of 2024 , some of the year's releases could likely be newly announced closer to their actual releases.

10 Most Anticipated Horror Games Of 2024

3 every horror game coming out in q1 2024, horror games releasing between january 1 - march 31.

Most of 2024's currently confirmed horror game release dates fall within the first quarter , including majorly popular or long-awaited titles like The Last of Us 2 Remastered , The Outlast Trials , and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl . Notably, many of the horror games set to release within the first few months of the year are ports, remasters, or, in the case of Outlast Trials , a full release after a lengthy Early Access period, and others, particularly S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 , may face delays that would place them later in the year.

Likely the biggest release of the first quarter is The Last of Us Part II Remastered , which will bring the game to the PlayStation 5 along with enhanced visuals and a new roguelike game mode, No Return , which allows for a larger variety of playable characters than the main game. Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden , is similar to The Last of Us in that it strays much closer to action with a horror aesthetic, but could still be a game to look out for, especially for those who are fans of developer Don't Nod's past work ( Life Is Strange , Vampyr , Jusant ).

The current list of horror games set to release in Q1 2024 is as follows:

2 Every Horror Game Coming Out In Q2 2024

Horror games releasing between april 1 - june 30.

Past the first quarter of 2024, no horror games have yet received definitively confirmed release dates , with only two previously announced games potentially falling within the second quarter. The first, Post Trauma , is a third-person horror game from developer Red Soul Games that takes heavy inspiration from the classics of the genre. The few trailers currently released for the game show off a combination of puzzles, fixed camera angles, exploration, and combat that bears heavy similarities to classic Silent Hill and Resident Evil games. Currently, however, the game doesn't have a confirmed release date outside of Spring 2024.

Still Wakes the Deep , from developer The Chinese Room, is the second game set for an unconfirmed "early 2024" release date and takes the form of a first-person game about exploring a mysteriously wrecked oil rig. Unlike some of the other horror games set to release in 2024, Still Wake the Deep features no combat, leaning solely on exploration and survival, making it similar to some of The Chinese Room's previously released games, like Amnesia: Machine for Pigs and Dear Esther .

25 Best Horror Games To Play Right Now

1 2024 horror games with unconfirmed release dates.

No horror games so far have been confirmed for the latter half of 2024, with most currently announced games having unspecified 2024 release dates . This includes titles from major studios like Supermassive Games' ( Until Dawn , The Quarry ) upcoming The Casting of Frank Stone , which was previously announced at the 2023 Game Awards, and the somewhat contentious Bloober Team ( Layers of Fear , The Medium ) remake of Silent Hill 2 , along with several less-known titles like Dark Fracture and Hollowbody . Many of these games, especially those from smaller studios, currently have their console release statuses unconfirmed.

Silent Hill 2 Remake Is Already In Trouble

Outside the higher-profile releases, Slitterhead may be interesting to Silent Hill fans - developed by Bokeh Game Studio, Slitterhead has the benefit of being worked on by the director and creator of the original Silent Hill , Keiichiro Toyama, and seems to feature similar third-person gameplay, albeit with a greater focus on action. Other games, like Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 , however, are somewhat less promising, with Bloodlines 2 in particular having faced a notoriously difficult development cycle, which has caused the game to be heavily delayed from its original 2020 release date.

The following table lists the game with unconfirmed release dates releasing (or assumed to be releasing, in some cases) in 2024:
