About 10 years ago, I visited Farallone Yacht sales while on lunch break from a local software contract. I met Patricia and she was super welcoming. I let her know that I was not planning to buy, but liked the tugs. Patricia had a sales rep give me a tour of the tugs. We discussed new versus used, color options, feature sets and more. He even detailed how to control the vessel with the optional impellers and joystick. When we were done, I was sent on my way with beautiful brochures .. I live in the area, and just happened to remember my experience while walking my dog past FYS last week. Thank you Patricia ...

After many years of dreaming for my next sailboat I feel an angel brought our family to Patricia Garfield, owner of Farallone Yachts, and all of the wonderful people she introduced us too. She is an accomplished expert sailor, master certified 100 Ton coast guard captain and merchant Marine officer with many other racing awards and sailing accomplishments. Farallone specializes in Catalina Sailboats and made our purchase so stress free. She originally sold the boat we bought to the original owner in 2007 so we had all of the maintenance records and receipts for add on's that confirmed the bristol condition of our new yacht. Everything was is perfect working condition. After the sale, she continues to support us with expert referrals and even introduced us to her friend and fellow sail captain, Diane, to give my wife and daughter one on one lessons so that they can one day singlehand the boat. I give Farallone my highest recommendation to anyone looking to purchase a new or used boat.

Sold my boat through Farallone because they appeared to be the primary Catalina dealer in the area, of which my boat was one. They represented both buyer and seller in my transaction and I felt they strongly favored the buyer. As a seller you are in a weak bargaining position because of the monthly berthing fee. I had to pay for equipment that was not included in the original offer to sell, and I was told that I should "negotiate" the county taxes coming due directly with the buyer, as they did not address that in the contract. A more honest answer would have been to tell me that I'm on the hook for more than a year of the buyer's tax liability according to state law. I would not sell a boat through Farallone Yacht Sales again.

My husband and I purchased a new sailboat three years ago, the experience we had through the purchasing process was amazing. The customer service experience was truly a 5 star. Pat helped us with identify the right boat, assisted us with pointing us towards knowledgeable financing brokers and insurance experts, a complete turn key experience that we would recommend to anyone. Even after several years, Pat Garfield, owner of Farallone checks in with us and actually and continues to provide us valuable input and sharing her expert sailing knowledge. We highly recommend Pat Garfield and her team at Farallone Yacht Sales.

We purchased our new Catalina 385 last October from Captain Pat Garfield. The experience was extremely positive from start to finish. Attention to detail and making sure everything was perfect. You couldn't ask for a more professional and knowledgable group. A huge bonus was when our boat came in, we received photo's of her while in production and was called to come and visit once it off loaded in the bay area. We feel so lucky to have had two captains show us the ropes on our new boat, every detail was covered. We couldn't be happier. Everyone at Farralone Yacht Sales to this day continue to be extremely friendly and it feels like we are a part of the Farralone family. We are so grateful for all of the help realizing our dream. Thank you Pat, Captain Diane, Tracy and Ray for being so helpful. I would recommend them to anyone who is serious about buying a boat.

I recently purchased a new-to-me boat from Patty Garfield at Farallone Yachts. She is an experienced sailor and incredibly knowledgeable about everything boat related. However, what made the buying experience so wonderful and comfortable was Patty's sincere, kind approach. She genuinely tries to match a buyer with the right boat. I never felt pressured. I felt as though I had a friend guiding me toward the right choice. I bought my boat right before an extended family vacation, and yet I wanted to get some initial work done on the boat while I was gone. Patty offered to take care of it for me, and I am most grateful. I would highly recommend Patty to anyone looking to buy a boat. She will be your partner in the process. That's rare.

You will not find a more honest, fairer, more customer orientated yacht dealer in the Bay than Farallone Yacht Sales. Patricia Garfield, owner and operator of Farallone Yachts, always goes the extra mile (I've sold one, and purchased three sail boats with the assistance of Farallone Yachts) to make sure you get the best deal possible whether you are a buyer or a seller. Diane Murray, Patricia Garfield's captain in residence, will work tirelessly to make sure the boat you buy or sell is in tip top working order, and will even climb aboard to help put it that way, regardless of how long it takes. I just can't say enough about how great my experience has been working with Farallone Yacht Sales as both a buyer and a seller. There is no better!

You will not find harder working and more caring brokers than roger and Dinah Goodsell. They did great work for me and I recommend them unhesitatingly to anyone.

History of Farallone and Catalina

Pat Garfield

Ahi  –  farallone yacht sales.

farallone yacht sales

It was almost an inadvertent achievement. The voyage began simply as something of a homecoming trip. At the time they entered, little did Patricia Garfield and Diane Murray know that they would become the first women to sail double-handed in the Transpac, one of the oldest ocean races in the world. And it was all aboard a Catalina 470

Tears flowed at the finish line. Garfield and Murrary had just completed eight hours in the boisterous Molokai Channel, bouncing “like a cork in a whirlwind.” As they neared the end of the race aboard Charmed Life, the summer sun rose over Diamond Head. Hawaiian music, leis and mai-tais and a crowd of about 50 greeted them at the dock.

Wayne Goldman

Chief ahi –  atomic tuna yachts.

Wayne has spent the last 20+ years in the marine industry, selling boating equipment to boat builders all over the world and doing international and local boat shows on the east and west coast. He has extensive experience with catamarans and has visited most of the catamaran factories around the world. For the past 5+ years, Wayne has focused his passion on helping other, like-minded boaters find the boat of their dream. With his vast knowledge of boats, and understanding what boaters are looking for, Wayne has been successfully finding the right boats for hundreds of boaters.

General Comments About the Website

FROM Donald:  " This is an awesome website. I found the information that I needed right away from one of the over 20,000 free articles that you provide as a public service. I'm surprised that so much if this site is free. But I still signed up so I could access the thousands of expanded pages, interesting articles, and dozens of valuable programs! The member's library of books, magazines and videos that I can view online is really terrific! I understand that you and your staff are all unpaid volunteers. Please keep up the good work. And I commend you for your plans to add another 10,000 free informative articles over the next year. I'm thrilled to support you in this endeavor with my small membership donation. Thanks again for all your hard work. "

FROM Huey:  " I agree with my Uncle, I too have found the articles to be very enlightening. They say that it will take about 100,000 articles to cover the full scope that they have envisioned for the website. They have over 20,000 articles so far and that's doing pretty well, but it could take several years to get the rest. I also noticed that many of the Main Topic Pages and some of the article pages are still in the rough draft stage. I guess that they will fill in as they can get volunteers to work on them. But what I can't figure out is why anyone would spend the time writing informative in depth articles just to give away free to this website for publication? What's in it for them? "

FROM Dewey:  " Well Huey, to me It looks like most of the articles on this website are written by very informed people, like boating instructors, boat designers, boat builders, riggers, electricians, fitters, marine repair technicians and marine surveyors. Writing such articles helps establish them as knowledgeable professionals. After all, this website was originally created by a school for marine technicians and marine surveyors. The website is growing in content every day. They even had to move to a bigger, more powerful server because the website's traffic has been growing exponentially. "

FROM Louie:  " I agree with everyone above. This site is quickly becoming the ultimate reference resource about every aspect of boats and ships for everyone from the beginning recreational boater to the seasoned professional mariner. I use the topic pages on the right sidebar to browse around the website. It's like a Junior Woodchucks' Guidebook for Boaters. Their Members' Library of over 300 popular and obscure books and over 200 magazine back issues that can be viewed online is fabulous. The Academy's magazine is especially informative. On top of that, there is the "Ask-An-Expert program for members where you can get an expert's answer to any of your boat questions. And a whole years membership is only $25. What a deal! I really love being part of this "Everything About Boats" community and help provide thousands of helpful articles free to the public. I think that I'll sit down right now and write an article about my experiences boating with my uncle. "

FROM Scrooge: " You rave about this website like it was the best thing since sliced bread. Well, I think it stinks. Sure, it has a lot of good information for boaters, and they're adding more every day, but it will probably never be finished. Furthermore, I don't even own a boat. And I wouldn't have a boat even if someone gave me one. Boats are a waste of money and time and energy and money! They're just a hole in the water you pour money into. If you gave me a boat, I'd sell it quicker then you could say Baggywrinkle. Then I'd lock up the cash with all my other money so I could keep my eye on it and count it every day. Bah humbug. "

FROM Daisy:  " I'm just so glad that Donald got the boat so we and the boys could enjoy boating — together. And of course all of the girls, April, May, and June, love to be on the water too, especially when that is where the boys are. Oh poor Scrooge, boating is more fun then you could possibly imagine. "

FROM Scrooge: " After seeing how much fun you all have on the water together, I regret that I didn't have that much fun when I was young. I've had a change of heart, and I'm giving each of you a Lifetime Academy Membership . "

FROM Editor:  " For those of you that have stayed with us this far, many thanks, and we hope that you found this little narrative informative. Your faithful support inspires us to keep working on this phenomenal website. We know that we have a lot more to do. Ultimately, we hope that we can help you enjoy the wonder filled world of boating as much as we do. We are all waiting to see what you have to say about this webpage article. Submit any comments via email To: Comments♣EverythingAboutBoats.org (Replace "♣" with "@"). Be sure to include this page's title in the subject line. Also, your corrections, updates, additions and suggestions are welcomed. Please submit them via email To: Editor♣EverythingAboutBoats.org (Replace "♣" with "@"). It has been truly amazing to see what we have been able to accomplished when we've worked together.
