INVICTUS 280 CX: INTERVIEW WITH CHRISTIAN GRANDE

Within a few years, Invictus Yacht has managed to establish itself as a manufacturer of boats small in size (its range, in fact, varies from 19 up to 42 feet) but with the same design and finishes as yachts. The new 280 Cx , exhibited at the Boot Düsseldorf 2017 as the first model of the Cx series, follows this philosophy: it stimulates the interest and curiosity of all those customers who have a great sense of beauty and detail and often come from bigger boats where they’re used to have different materials and sizes if compared with those available in this product range.

From a technical point of view, the 280 Cx  features the same sporty hull lines and traditional style of the X series but with the high-quality equipment of the GT line and the liveability of a cabin-equipped model. “C”, in fact, stands for “cabin”. “ Interiors are significantly generous: we’ve a wide bathroom, a convertible bed and a nice bar cabinet on a 8.70-metre boat which doesn’t look like a cabin-equipped one” says Christian Grande, the architect who designed the whole production of the shipyard based in Borgia, Italy. ” What I enjoyed the most in my project- he continues – was to create the right balance between interior liveability and an exterior design able to hide it”.

The living space mustn’t be perceptible from the outside. Thus, the designer has played on the sides and deckhouse height and masking in order to have a boat large inside but small outside. “ It’s not a cruiser for long distances but a boat designed for day-trips, where we can spend a night, let children sleep after lunch or have enough space to host a friend for a day-trip at sea. What I wanted was a boat able to amaze for its hidden qualities ” – claims the designer.

“ This is what the market wants. People want a boat like this which features a great attention to details, particular couloring and evident Italian style. The latter is translated into a certain material complexity, high-quality materials and fabrics. These are the ingredients of a recipe telling something Italian which doesn’t come only from nautical experience” tells the architect.    

Beyond the aesthetical appearance which makes the Gt and Cx series different, the 280 Gt and this new Cx model are very similar. They both have a cabin with en-suite bathroom, a fore and astern sun pad. “ The Cx is more practical. The GT model is more stylish but less soft while the CX one is more comfortable: if we want to make a comparison with cars, we could say that it’s the same difference existing between a coupe and a saloon car ” explains Grande, “ even if hulls are different but the choice comes from the ambition of satisfying customers’ tastes. They’re two different but equally licit alternatives”.

However, the new creation preserves the unmistakable Invictus qualities which translate into a unique style combining elegance, classical and sporty lines . “ Sportiness is not only determined by the visibile carbon or red colour, as well as elegance is not exclusively characterized by black”, explains the designer “ Accompanied colours are more elegant than contrasts . By taking advantage from juxtapositions, softer and mellower colours and using much steel on the deck which, unlike plastic, is bright like a jewel, the result is the evocation of a classic rich racing world. In short, sportiness is mixed with elegance.

The container of all this style is the boat which is, above all,  a means which must sail even though sailing is not only to move from place to place. ” What we have here is a boat. In addition to appearance , which is an subjective matter, we’re talking about products designed to sail and that sail well” s ays Grande ”  Customers choose Invictus because they want to sail. On the other hand, there are other functional elements, such as handrails, hull, teak, enough space where to accomodate shoes, fenders and many other accessories. And, of course, all Invictus boats feature a great convertibility. I gave the boat, which is generally rigid in its architectural layout, the ability to adjust to the passengers’ needs at various times of the day. I have created a means able to let me drive and take a drink, too . Sailing is just a moment of the sailing experience, then there’s relaxation and sharing. This is why I created a specific space where to sunbathe, read or chat. This is why the pilot’s seat can be transformed into an armchair for the cockpit table. It was necessary to create a smart convertibility, immediately available in just two clicks. A mutant object, in the great Invictus tradition”

Invictus 280 CX, questione di dettagli

Natante da meno di nove metri di lunghezza, Invictus 280 CX ha una cura nel design e nei dettagli da barca ben più grande. Motorizzato con un entrofuoribordo Volvo Penta supera i 40 nodi.

La formula è semplice, ma funziona. Piccole, ma grandi. Quando sono nati, gli Invictus sono andati ad occupare una zona di mercato allora scoperta e ancora ne sono padroni. Parliamo di barche contenute nelle dimensioni, dai 6 agli 11 metri di lunghezza , ma ricche nella cura estetica, nei materiali e nelle finiture.

A pensare tutto ciò è stato Christian Grande , progettista dall’anima imprenditoriale, insieme ai cantieri Aschenez , marchio con una lunga tradizione nel fare natanti in vetroresina.

Il 280 CX si inserisce perfettamente in questa filosofia ed è l’ammiraglia della gamma con la “ X ”, quella al centro della proposta Invictus, e che si struttura su quattro “sottogamme ”.

Gli FX hanno un’anima più sportiva e sono dotati di fuoribordo; gli SX sono degli open con efb; i CX hanno sempre i piedi poppieri, ma possono contare anche su un spazio sottocoperta. C’è poi l’ultima arrivata, la HX , che è la “super accessoriata”, a partire da un grande rollbar centrale in acciaio.

Quella contraddistinta dalla “ T ” (370, 320 e 280) è invece la gamma che si colloca nella parte più alta del listino di Invictus.

Cosa ci è piaciuto del 280 CX ? Prima di tutto lo spazio sottocoperta che è abbastanza per avere una vera cabina con bagno, anche se, vista da fuori, sembrerebbe impossibile. Poi la fedeltà alla linea.

Come tutti gli Invictus, anche questo 8,7 metri è arricchito da dettagli fondamentali, pensati sia per il comfort, sia per aumentare la percezione di bello e prezioso: parliamo, ad esempio, degli inserti in pelle cucita di sedili, prendisole e volante, ma anche degli acciai personalizzati.

A questo si aggiunge una parte importante data dalla scelta di colori e tessuti, molto “materica”, che è da sempre segno distintivo di Christian Grande. Molto bene anche la funzionalità: pratico e invisibile il tendalino prendisole di prua; geniale il sistema progettato per la seduta a centro barca, che in un attimo si trasforma da postazione di guida in divanetto rivolto verso il pozzetto.

Ben studiata anche la circolazione a bordo, con la consolle disassata e quindi con il passavanti di sinistra più largo, che porta diretto verso la grande plancia di poppa.

Tutto bene a barca ferma, quindi. Ma le qualità dinamiche? La barca della prova era motorizzata con un Volvo Penta V8 a benzina di 350 cv – in alternativa c’è il MerCruiser Diesel TDI da 260 cv – che non montava lo strumentazione completa, e quindi non abbiamo potuto rilevare i consumi.

La carena è comunque piuttosto morbida e perdona quindi anche qualche eventuale imprecisione al timone. I consumi, come dicevamo, non abbiamo potuto rilevarli, ma, scheda tecnica Volvo Penta alla mano, a manetta tutta abbassata si arriva a 111 litri/ora, il che significa 2,7 litri miglio .

Con il MerCuiser Diesel il dato di consumo dell’Invictus 280 CX (con valori forniti dal cantiere) scende a 50 litri/ora, ma anche la velocità massima cala a 35 nodi, quindi il riferimento al miglio diventa 1,42. Vince quindi il gasolio? Tenuto conto che il suo prezzo di listino è superiore di circa 9.000 euro, non è detto. Per stabilirlo è necessario sapere per quante ore mediamente navigate in un anno.

Title : Active carbons as nanoporous materials for solving of environmental problems

However, up to now, the main carriers of catalytic additives have been mineral sorbents: silica gels, alumogels. This is obviously due to the fact that they consist of pure homogeneous components SiO2 and Al2O3, respectively. It is generally known that impurities, especially the ash elements, are catalytic poisons that reduce the effectiveness of the catalyst. Therefore, carbon sorbents with 5-15% by weight of ash elements in their composition are not used in the above mentioned technologies. However, in such an important field as a gas-mask technique, carbon sorbents (active carbons) are carriers of catalytic additives, providing effective protection of a person against any types of potent poisonous substances (PPS). In ESPE “JSC "Neorganika" there has been developed the technology of unique ashless spherical carbon carrier-catalysts by the method of liquid forming of furfural copolymers with subsequent gas-vapor activation, brand PAC. Active carbons PAC have 100% qualitative characteristics of the three main properties of carbon sorbents: strength - 100%, the proportion of sorbing pores in the pore space – 100%, purity - 100% (ash content is close to zero). A particularly outstanding feature of active PAC carbons is their uniquely high mechanical compressive strength of 740 ± 40 MPa, which is 3-7 times larger than that of  such materials as granite, quartzite, electric coal, and is comparable to the value for cast iron - 400-1000 MPa. This allows the PAC to operate under severe conditions in moving and fluidized beds.  Obviously, it is time to actively develop catalysts based on PAC sorbents for oil refining, petrochemicals, gas processing and various technologies of organic synthesis.

Victor M. Mukhin was born in 1946 in the town of Orsk, Russia. In 1970 he graduated the Technological Institute in Leningrad. Victor M. Mukhin was directed to work to the scientific-industrial organization "Neorganika" (Elektrostal, Moscow region) where he is working during 47 years, at present as the head of the laboratory of carbon sorbents.     Victor M. Mukhin defended a Ph. D. thesis and a doctoral thesis at the Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia (in 1979 and 1997 accordingly). Professor of Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia. Scientific interests: production, investigation and application of active carbons, technological and ecological carbon-adsorptive processes, environmental protection, production of ecologically clean food.

The 5th edition of the International exhibition of yachts and boats –  Moscow Boat Show , held from March 20 to 25, 2012 will be hosted by the first pavilion of Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre. This popular show is dedicated not only to the specialists of the market segment and professional sportsmen but also to those who consider sailing sport to be their hobby and well cherished dream.

The project is the result of joint efforts of the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre and the National Marine Industry Association. The event is supported by Aston Martin Moscow, Burevestnik Group logistics department and the Yachting specialized magazine. Moscow Boat Show is the largest project in Russia presenting all the best in the world of yachting.

The exhibition annually shows high level of attendance and has already proved as significant and noteworthy event in the world of yachts and boats. Every year new exhibitors join the list of participants, genuine “sharks” of yachting business, the quantity of visitors considerably increases and the exposition becomes more sated and diverse.

The best companies professionally involved into yachting and small navigation business – 180 exhibitors from 17 regions of the Russian Federation and 15 countries traditionally presented the best and the newest in the world of yachting at 2011 edition: from design and facilitation of vessels and up to cruising and training courses for beginning skippers. In 2011 the overall exhibit space comprised 18 000 sq m. More than 25 000 visitors came to the show.

This year the exposition space will increase up to 30 000 sq m and will be accommodated in 4 exhibition halls. The scale of the project confirms confident positions of its positive development. The organizers will try to arrange a genuine fiesta of water on land!

Quite a number of foreign exhibitors will participate in the show. Foreign companies show increasing interest to yachting business in Russia.

Moscow Boat Show provides the perfect platform from which to preview new products, evaluate market trends, and establish long-lasting and commercially profitable partnerships. Despite the dynamic changes taking place in Russia and the rapid growth of the yachting sector, the show continues to complement and reflect the industry’s demand and is a promotional opportunity not to be missed!

As its popularity and success rate has grown over the last years Moscow Boat Show 2012 has developed to incorporate more than just an exhibition.
