Review of Spacesailer 24
Basic specs..
The hull is made of fibreglass. Generally, a hull made of fibreglass requires only a minimum of maintenance during the sailing season. And outside the sailing season, just bottom cleaning and perhaps anti-fouling painting once a year - a few hours of work, that's all.
The boat equipped with a masthead rig. The advantage of a masthead rig is its simplicity and the fact that a given sail area - compared with a fractional rig - can be carried lower and thus with less heeling moment.
The Spacesailer 24 is equipped with a fin keel. The fin keel is the most common keel and provides splendid manoeuvrability. The downside is that it has less directional stability than a long keel.
The keel is made of lead. Compared with iron, lead has the advantage of being 44% heavier, which allows a smaller keel and hence less water resistance and higher speed.
The boat can enter even shallow marinas as the draft is just about 1.30 - 1.40 meter (4.27 - 4.57 ft) dependent on the load. See immersion rate below.

1984 Spacesailer 24ft sloop in excellent condition now for sale with DBY Boat Sales.

Standing and Running rigging was replaced in 2009. The self-furling headsail and Furlex furler are 18 months old and in excellent condition.
An almost new 2018 Tohatsu 6hp 4 stroke outboard has been fitted.
This boat is immaculate and would make the ideal first yacht for club racing or cruising around the local waterways with family and friends.
A small draft of 4ft 3 inches allows safe entry into so many waterways. With her relatively low mast height, bridges are not a problem either.
