Power Book II: Ghost knows it has a good thing going because the Starz show was renewed for season four before its third season had even aired.

Another instalment with Tariq St Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr), featuring all the twists and turns we've come to expect from the crime drama series, as he looks to get out of his father's shadow? Sounds great to us.

So, now that we know there's more of Tariq and co to come, here's everything we know about when exactly Ghost will be back on our screens.

Power Book II: Ghost season 4 release date: when will it air?

As we said, we already have that sweet, sweet renewal news for season four — but we don't know when it will arrive.

Although Rainey Jr previously assured fans they shouldn't have to wait as long as that last 16-month hiatus, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike (which began in May and ended on 27 September) will have undoubtedly set production for season four back.

According to Deadline , Ghost was attempting to film its fourth season in May, but production was halted indefinitely amid the strike.

Production will also likely be affected by the actors' strike as a deal has yet to be struck with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), though, if rumours are to be believed , both parties could come to a resolution soon.

In better news, Rainey Jr said he could see the show and his character going on for some time yet, telling the Daily Express : "I want to take this 50 years. But realistically, I feel like we have a good amount of time still. We will be here for a good amount of time."

Alongside the renewal announcement, we received an exciting piece of casting news: Michael Ealy — who TV fans will recognise from the tongue-in-cheek Netflix series The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window — has been cast as Detective Don Carter.

The new face on the block is understood to have been a rising NYPD officer, who was on track to become police commissioner until his wife was killed in the crossfire between rival drug gangs.

A description of the new detective reads: "Vowing to make the streets safer, Carter traded in his tie for a kevlar vest and now leads an elite NYPD drug task force that elicits concrete results against drug-related violence. While his achievements are noteworthy public recognition, nothing can bring back his lost love."

Alongside the new detective, we can, of course, expect Rainey Jr to return as Tariq.

Sadly, though, we'll bid farewell to Lorenzo Tejada Sr (Berto Colon) for season four, after Monet (Mary J Blige) put a bounty on his head, resulting in his death.

• Lovell Adams-Gray as Dru Tajada • Woody McClain as Cane Tejada • LaToya Tonodeo as Diana Tejada • Gianni Paolo as Brayden Weston • Cliff 'Method Man' Smith as David Maclean • Shane Johnson as Cooper Saxe

Towards the end of season three, we saw Joseph Sikora's murderous character Tommy Egan pop up on the show , which indicates we should always expect the unexpected during the show, particularly as Ghost can tap deep into the bench of the Power universe.

Tommy returned to exact revenge on Tariq's mother Tasha, who killed Tommy's fiancée in the sixth and final season of Power .

Discussing Tommy's thirst for revenge with TVLine , Sikora shared: "Tommy, he doesn't forget, nor does he really forgive. I mean, he has a hard time with both of those things, but I feel like Tommy's smart enough to know that it usually 'forgetting' means you gotta tie up these loose ends."

There could be more casting announcements coming in the lead-up to the next season, so watch this space.

While we don't know the ins and outs of who Tariq will be going up against in the next season of the show, Ealy's casting announcement looks like a big clue.

From the description of Detective Don Carter and his personal vendetta, we can expect him to be a thorn in Tariq's side as he heads up the elite NYPD drug task force. Expect run-ins with Tariq and his criminal company, which could put the whole enterprise at risk of being bang to rights.

Tonodeo's Diana went through a lot in season three, losing her father and going to jail being among her many hardships that have forced her to grow up "super fast."

"[She's very much become] a woman," said Tonodeo of her character during an interview , before adding that she's stepped into her power.

"She has no choice. She's being pushed in that direction. So it's time to fully step into it and channel all the things to become the boss that she's been groomed to be."

Her season four narrative is shaping up to be very interesting, she's definitely not one to underestimate.

Elsewhere on the show, we can probably expect further fallout from Lorenzo's sudden death. Meanwhile, Tariq himself is becoming more and more like his father as the seasons go on. Plus, there's always a chance of a cameo from elsewhere in the Power Book universe.

While production on the season has started, we still don't have any footage of what's next for now — but hopefully we will soon!

After three successful and popular seasons, Power Book II: Ghost Season 4’s release date is highly anticipated. The crime drama series, which debuted in 2020 on Starz, follows the life of Tariq St Patrick as he navigates all the ups and downs of his life while also choosing between his father’s legacy and his family.

Here’s all the Power Book II: Ghost Season 4 release date information we know so far, and all the details on when it is coming out.

Is there a Power Book II: Ghost Season 4 release date?

There’s finally some good news for the fans of the popular series. In January 2023, Variety reported that Power Book II: Ghost was renewed for a fourth season on Starz. The renewal announcement came even before the third season premiered, which goes on to show just how much demand there is for the series.

However, it looks like fans will have to wait a bit before they get to follow Tariq’s story in Season 4. According to a report by Deadline, the series was trying to film the fourth season in May 2023, but production was halted amid the writers’ and actors’ strikes. There has been no official release date For Season 4 as of yet, so viewers will have to wait a bit to know about its eventual release date.

The Writers Guild signed a tentative agreement recently with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers to end the strike after 5 months. If everything goes on smoothly and considering production of Power Book II: Ghost Season 4 has already started, viewers can see it sometime in 2024.

This date is an estimation based on the information we have at the time of this writing.

Michael Rainey Jr. plays the role of Tariq. Other cast members include Gianni Paolo, Lovell Adams-Gray, Woody McClain, LaToya Tonodeo, Mary J. Blige, Shane Johnson, and more. Michael Ealy will be joining Season 4 as Detective Don Carter. Brett Mahoney serves as the showrunner and executive producer.

Where is Power Book II: Ghost Season 4 coming out?

Power Book II: Ghost Season 4 is anticipated to come out on Starz in 2024 if the actors’ strikes come to an end and production continues.

The Power franchise continues to go from strength to strength, with the new season of Power Book IV: Force on the way, and season 3 of Power Book II: Ghost having just wrapped up.

We already know that a fourth season is on the way, continuing the transformative journey Tariq St Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr) has been on so far.

Tariq's mission to "get out of the game for good" has been far from smooth so far, with season 3 seeing shootouts and betrayals galore - and that's just in the finale!

With the third season now all wrapped up, thoughts have naturally started to turn to season 4, which is currently in production in New York and has already cast Michael Ealy ( Bel-Air ) in a major new role, as the leader of an elite drug task force.

But what else can we expect from Power Book II: Ghost season 4? Read on for everything you need to know.

Power Book II: Ghost season 4 release date

As of now, there hasn't been a confirmed release date for Power Book II: Ghost season 4.

What we do know at the moment, though, is that production for the new season is currently underway in New York. Series star Rainey Jr has also stated that fans won't have as long to wait for season 4 as they did for season 3. He said that while production for the cast is under way, there will be "something to look forward to after season three is over".

He further explained: "And hopefully, hopefully, the wait for season 4 isn't as long as the wait was for season 3."

Power Book II: Ghost season 4 cast – who will return?

Casting announcements for the upcoming new season have been relatively light on the ground, but it's expected that Rainey Jr will of course be reprising his role as Tariq.

Joining the cast for season 4 is also Michael Ealy, who fans will recognise for his film roles in Barbershop, Think Like a Man, The Perfect Guy and more recently, in the Netflix series The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window . Ealy has been cast in a series regular role as Detective Don Carter.

Lorenzo Tejada Sr (Berto Colon) will of course not be returning for season 4 after he was killed by Gordo Castillo (Eric Hernandez), which was ordered by Lorenzo's wife Monet (Mary J Blige). Why? Well, she finally learnt of the fact that her husband accidentally killed her son Zeke in the season 2 finale after he mistook him for Monet's ex, Mecca (Daniel Sunjata).

What will Power Book II: Ghost season 4 be about?

With season 3 really delivering on every dramatic front, there's no telling what season 4 will be about. We do know, though, that the new series will continue to explore how Tariq navigates his life, family and feuds as he comes up against the mounting pressure to save his family.

So far, we've been met with surprise character deaths and Tariq scrambling to get ahead of information that could incriminate the drug organisation and jeopardise his family's safety. The looming federal case has also provided tension aplenty as their targets have shifted and they've gotten closer to figuring out the entire drug enterprise.

But with Tariq being pulled deeper into the business and wanting to keep the police off the scent, is he actually closer to being just like his father?

Season 4 will also likely deal with the fallout from Lorenzo's death in season 3 episode 5. Will the Tejada clan figure out that it was actually Monet that ordered the hit, and how will that impact her character?

If the synopsis for Ealy's new character is anything to go by, we also know that Detective Don Carter is probably going to be a growing thorn in Tariq's side. With a personal vendetta spurring him on to be the unflinching leader of an elite NYPD drug task force, something tells us he won't shy away from nailing down Tariq and his company for their crimes.

Is there a trailer for Power Book II: Ghost season 4?

Unfortunately not yet. For now, we'll just have to relive the drama of season 3 in its dramatic trailer instead. Watch the season 3 trailer below.

Power Book II: Ghost season 4 premiere date: October hopes

First and foremost, let’s give you a reminder that the Michael Rainey Jr. series has already wrapped up production for its latest batch of episodes. They are absolutely coming, so you do not have to worry about that. Here is the question: When, and also how the network is going to choose to reveal some of this news.

Here is what we know at this particular moment — the third season of  Power Book III: Raising Kanan  is going to be airing in December. Meanwhile,  BMF  is going to arrive at the start of March. Based on what we’ve seen in the past, Starz is not interested in airing two shows from executive producer 50 Cent at the same exact time. Therefore, they probably are not going to be rushing to bring  Ghost  back on the air at some point in the immediate future. We tend to think that May is the absolute earliest we could see it and if that is the case, a premiere date will probably be revealed in either February or March.

Now, connect a few of the dots further here — the odds are slim to none that we’re going to get news on a premiere date in the near future here. There’s just no real reason for that to happen. Instead of worrying about getting that in October, let’s just hope that the latest season of  Force  will cap off its story in a super-interesting way — and who knows? Maybe there is a chance that it will hint at another crossover.

(We have seen Joseph Sikora appear on  Ghost  already, but it would be nice of the words bled over in some other interesting ways.)

Is Tariq doomed to repeat the mistakes of his father?

Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) and Brayden (Gianni Paolo) may not be ready to embark on the battle that lies ahead in Power Book II: Ghost season 4. 

If you watched the events of the season 3 finale, then you know the new power duo has a lot to contend with in the new episodes. Not only do they have to duke it out with Monet (Mary J. Blige) and the Tejadas, but they also find themselves in the crosshairs of Noma (Caroline Chikezie). 

Perhaps more important than the external conflicts Tariq faces, are his battles within. He is determined to prove he’s better than his father and can be a master of both legitimate business and the underworld.  Unfortunately for him, the moves he makes are reminiscent of Ghost (Omari Hardwick) and his chances of legitimacy in the business world are dwindling. 

With that said, here’s everything we know about Power Book II: Ghost season 4.

A premiere date for season 4 has yet to be announced. It’s worth noting that season 4 was said to be in production as early as January per a report from Deadline , so it’s possible the new episodes weren’t impacted by the writers’ strike of 2023. 

In the meantime, Power Book IV: Force season 2 premieres this September. 

Power Book II: Ghost season 4 plot

While we wait on an official synopsis for season 4, we do know that given how season 3 wrapped, Tariq has some major problems on his hand in the form of Monet, the rest of the Tejadas and Noma. With seemingly only Brayden on his side to help, viewers should look for him to get desperate and make some bold moves. He’ll have to think outside of the box to not only save his business, but more importantly, his life. 

Power Book II: Ghost season 4 cast

One major casting announcement that was made in January per the previously mentioned Deadline report, is that Michael Ealy joins season 4 as a series regular. He’s slated to play Detective Don Carter, an NYPD officer with a bone to pick with drug dealers and gang members after his wife was killed in a gang-related dispute. Ealy previously starred in Reasonable Doubt , Bel-Air and the Think Like a Man films. 

In terms of departures, fans shouldn’t expect to see Berto Colon reprise his role as Lorenzo Tejada, as he was murdered under Monet’s orders in season 3. 

Also, should you expect Omari Hardwick to return to the Power universe as Ghost? We can’t say with certainty yes or no, but we do know the actor is at least open to the idea.

Starz is locking in one of its Power spinoffs for a longer term: The premium cable outlet has renewed Power Book II : Ghost for a fourth season ahead of its season three premiere in March.

The series has also added Michael Ealy ( Barbershop, Stumptown ) to its cast for season four.

The third season of Ghost , which premieres March 17, will follow Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) as he works to get his trust, get back to his family, and get out of the game. The emergence of a ruthless new foe, however, interrupts Tariq’s plans to reunite with Tasha (Naturi Naughton) and Yaz (Paris Morgan) and puts him, Brayden (Gianni Paolo), and Effie (Alix Lapri) back into business with the Tejadas. Mary J. Blige and Cliff “Method Man” Smith also star.

Ealy will join the series in season four as Detective Don Carter, a rising NYPD officer who was on track to become police commissioner until his wife was killed in a crossfire between rival drug gangs. He abandoned his former career track and now leads an elite drug task force that elicits concrete results against drug-related violence.

Season three of Ghost will be the first under showrunner Brett Mahoney, who took over the show when creator Courtney Kemp moved her overall deal to Netflix; she remains an executive producer of the Power franchise. Mahoney and Kemp (via her End of Episode banner) exec produce Power Book II: Ghost with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (via his G-Unit Film and Television), Mark Canton of Atmosphere Entertainment MM and Chris Selak. Starz parent Lionsgate Television produces the series.

Power Book II: Ghost Season 4 Will Introduce A Key New Character

Starz renewed the Power spinoff even before Season 3 dropped.

Spoilers ahead for Power Book II: Ghost Season 3. In the final moments of the tense Power Book II: Ghost Season 3 finale, Tariq told Brayden, “I think we just started a f*ckin’ war” — and he was probably right. There’s no question that viewers will see the battle play out, since Starz renewed Ghost for Season 4 in January. What’s more, filming on the Power spinoff was already starting in New York City, when the news broke.

“The high-octane drama of Power Book II: Ghost continues to resonate with our viewers and we’re thrilled to get Season 4 production underway ahead of our Season 3 debut,” Starz exec Kathryn Busby said in a statement at the time, adding that it is “clear our fans are ready to devour more of this explosive series.”

Indeed, after Season 3 dropped on March 17, the first episode delivered 5.8 million multi-platform viewers in its first three days, setting the record for Starz’s biggest premiere weekend ever, according to the network.

With the drama’s third season wrapping on May 26, here’s everything to know about Ghost Season 4.

The Power Book II: Ghost Season 4 Cast

Though the Season 3 cliffhanger could affect the Season 4 main cast list (“I think I took one of those f*ckers out,” Brayden said), possible returning actors include: Michael Rainey Jr. (Tariq St. Patrick) , Gianni Paolo (Brayden Weston), Alix Lapri (Effie Morales) , Woody McClain (Cane Tejada), Mary J. Blige (Money Stewart Tejada), Clifford "Method Man" Smith (Davis MacLean), Larenz Tate (Rashad Tate), Latoya Tonodeo (Diana Tejada), Lovell Adams-Gray (Dru Tejada), Audrey Paige-Marie Hurd (Lauren Baldwin) , Paton Ashbrook (Jenny Sullivan), Caroline Chikezie (Noma), and Kyle Vincent Terry (Obi).

Along with the renewal news, Starz revealed that Michael Ealy was joining the cast in a series regular role as Detective Don Carter. The network described Ealy’s character as “a rising NYPD officer who was on track to become Police Commissioner until his wife was killed in a crossfire between rival drug gangs.” The detective will lead “an elite NYPD drug task force” to combat and prevent drug-related violence.

OG Power stars Naturi Naughton (Tasha St. Patrick) and Joseph Sikora (Tommy Egan) have also made multiple surprise appearances in Ghost , so it’s entirely possible fans will see them again, too. However, unless they appear in flashbacks, don’t expect to see the returns of Shane Johnson (Cooper Saxe) or Berto Colon (Lorenzo Tejada Sr.), whose characters were two major deaths in Season 3.

The Power Book II: Ghost Season 4 Plot

After Tariq’s attempt to use Noma’s daughter as leverage backfired big time — thanks, in big part, to Effie’s betrayal — he’s already drawn battle lines with the two, along with Cane, Diana, and Dru. While it’s unclear if Brayden actually shot any of them (or Obi), fans might have another death on their hands.

“Noma is brutal and bloodthirsty as ever, and now we have to figure out how in the hell we are going to appease her,” Lapri teases to Bustle, adding that she’d also like to explore more of Effie’s backstory in Season 4. The actor also knows that her character is never really safe, adding, “They put Effie into the wildest of circumstances to where, at any point, she could end up dead.”

Meanwhile, Tariq will also have to contend with Diana and Dru setting him up for Monet’s attempted murder — as well as the Tejada children’s attempt to take out their mom. Viewers have yet to find out what was on the flash drive Saxe sent to Agent Young (Kevin Rodriguez), who was revealed to be OG Power ’s Paz Valdes’ (Elizabeth Rodriguez) son and Angela Valdes’ (Lela Loren) nephew.

The Power Book II: Ghost Potential Premiere Date

In April, Rainey Jr. joked to Express.co.uk that “hopefully, the wait for Season 4 isn’t as long as the wait was for Season 3.” Given that production was underway before Season 2 premiered in March 2023 (just over a year after the second season wrapped), he could be right. Because the first two seasons premiered in the fall, Ghost could return for a late 2023 comeback.

“ Power Book II: Ghost ” has gotten an early Season 4 renewal at Starz , Variety has learned.

The renewal announcement comes just ahead of the Season 3 premiere, which is due air on March 17. In addition, Michael Ealy has joined the series for its fourth season in a series regular role. Production on Season 4 is currently underway in New York.

Ealy joins the cast as Detective Don Carter, described as “a rising NYPD officer who was on track to become Police Commissioner, until his wife was killed in a crossfire between rival drug gangs. Vowing to make the streets safer, Carter traded in his tie for a kevlar vest and now leads an elite NYPD drug task force that elicits concrete results against drug related violence. While his achievements are noteworthy public recognition, nothing can bring back his lost love.”

“Power Book II: Ghost” is the first of three current spinoffs of the hit Starz series “Power,” which was created by Courtney Kemp. The premium cabler also currently airs the prequel series “Power Book III: Raising Kanan” and “Power Book IV: Force” starring Joseph Sikora as Tommy Egan.

Brett Mahoney serves as showrunner and executive producer on “Ghost” Season 3. Kemp executive produces via End of Episode. The second entry in the ‘ Power ’ franchise, the show revolves around Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.), the son of James St. Patrick or Ghost, the protagonist of the original series. After Tariq killed Ghost, his mother, Tasha (Naturi Naughton), took all the blame in the hopes of giving him a normal life. But as Tariq enrolls at Stansfield University, he realizes he can’t escape his father’s legacy. In the course of the seasons, Tariq reluctantly comes to accept who he really is.

Since its premiere on September 6, 2020, ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ has enjoyed high ratings and a sprawling fanbase. ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ season 4 was greenlit before the third season premiere in January 2023. Actor Michael Ealy, star of TV shows such as ‘Common Law,’ ‘Almost Human,’ ‘Being Mary Jane, and ‘ Reasonable Doubt ,’ is slated to appear in season 4 as Don Carter, a detective who lost his wife in drug gang-related violence and has since vowed to make the streets of New York safer.

Starz’s president of original programming Kathryn Busby, said in a statement, “The high-octane drama of ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ continues to resonate with our viewers and we’re thrilled to get season four production underway ahead of our season three debut. It’s clear our fans are ready to devour more of this explosive series and we look forward to having Michael join our incredible cast.”

By the time of the renewal, the production for season 4 was already underway. In the season finale, the actions of Tariq and Brayden (Gianni Paolo) effectively start a war with the Tejada family, Effie (Alix Lapri), and Noma (Caroline Chikezie) and her gang. The Tejada siblings accuse Tariq of shooting their mother when, in reality, Tasha shot Monet (Mary J. Blige), as the latter supposedly orchestrated an attack on her. It turns out that Dru (Lovell Adams-Gray) and Diana (LaToya Tonodeo) had planned this, as they wanted to take out their mother and needed Tariq to be their pawn.

Meanwhile, Rashad (Larenz Tate) wins the election, but Harper (Keesha Sharp) overhears a conversation between him and Davis (Method Man). Realizing that he is as corrupted as ever, she leaves Rashad. The Fed’s case against Tariq and the others falls apart when Lauren (Paige Hurd) recants her statement. She subsequently dumps the cell phone she used to communicate with Tariq and leaves New York with her parents.

In season 4, we will likely see a full-fledged war between Tariq and Brayden on one side and the Tejada siblings on the other. Both Monet and Cane (Woody McClain) have gotten shot in the season 3 finale. It’s extremely possible that at least one of them will not survive the season 4 premiere. The arrival of Don Carter is bound to inject the federal investigation with fresh hope and determination. Lauren has likely been written out of the narrative for now and probably will not appear in season 4. The intermediate period between the seasonal premieres is roughly around a year. Considering all this, viewers can expect ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ season 4 to come out sometime in Q1 2024 .

The trailer for Power Book III: Raising Kanan  Season 3 confirms the show’s premiere date, with the crime drama series returning Friday, December 1 at 8 p.m. local time on Starz .

New episodes of Power Book III: Raising Kanan will be available weekly on Fridays at midnight ET on the Starz app, all Starz streaming and on-demand platforms

What To Know About Power Book III: Raising Kanan

“Season three picks up where we left off, in Southside Jamaica Queens with the Thomas family in turmoil and reeling from the Mob’s coordinated attack on Raquel, Marvin, and Lou-Lou. After her close call, Raquel is looking to make a fresh start, but Kanan doesn’t trust her or believe it when she says she’s done, per the official synopsis. “Can she really be out of the game? As the trailer claims, the truth is a lie, and Kanan’s been burned before.”

The series stars MeKai Curtis as Kanan Stark, Patina Miller as Raquel Thomas, Omar Epps as Detective Malcolm Howard, London Brown as Marvin Thomas, Malcolm Mays as Lou-Lou Thomas, Hailey Kilgore as Jukebox, Joey Bada$$ as Unique, Shanley Caswell as Detective Burke and Antonio Ortiz as Famous.

New additions include Wendell Pierce and Erika Woods as Snaps and Pop Henry in addition to Grantham Coleman as Ronnie. Tony Danza, meanwhile, returns as Stefano Marchetti.

Sascha Penn serves as showrunner and executive producer for season three. The Power Universe series is executive produced by the creator and showrunner of the original Power series Courtney A. Kemp through her production company End of Episode, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson through G-Unit Film and Television, and Mark Canton through Atmosphere Entertainment MM. Chris Selak, Kevin Fox, Santa Sierra, and Tash Grey also serve as executive producers. Lionsgate Television produces the series for STARZ.
