A Decade of Excellence: History of Cantiere delle Marche

Founded in 2010 by a group of veteran shipbuilders, for the first eight years of its existence, CdM focused on two exceptional product lines, the traditional explorer Darwin Class yachts and the contemporary Nauta Air line (now discontinued). The remarkable success of these lines propelled CdM to be listed among Boat International’s top 20 boat builders in 2018.

Expanding Horizons: New Lines and Custom Projects

In 2020, CdM introduced a rugged new line, the Flexplorer series, with the launch of Aurelia, Flexplorer 130. This 40-meter vessel combines yacht styling and accommodation with the capability of a shadow vessel. This series allows owners to explore remote destinations while carrying a significant tender. The Flexplorer line has since expanded, with three Flexplorer 146 currently in build.

In addition to its semi-custom offerings, CdM excels in custom projects. Notable among them is Project K42 Audace, CdM’s first all-custom explorer yacht, boasting a length overall (LOA) of 42.8 meters and a registered tonnage of 450 GT. This impressive vessel, developed in collaboration with Floating Life, was launched in January 2019. Another noteworthy custom project is the 42-meter explorer Crowbridge, designed by Tommaso Spadolini, featuring naval architecture and engineering by Hydro Tec. In 2022 CdM launched Acala, a 42m custom project by Horacio Bozzo complemented by interiors designed by Simon Hamui, which won the World Superyacht Award 2023. Two custom yachts are currently under construction at CdM’s Ancona facility, a 45-meter by Giorgio M. Cassetta and EXP43 by Paszkowski.

Celebrating Milestones: Notable CdM Superyachts and Award Winners

CdM has marked several significant milestones throughout its journey. In 2013, the Darwin Class 96 Stella di Mare (now Lyubov’P) made a captivating debut. This rugged explorer yacht, measuring 29.5 meters, features a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, with twin MTU 8V M72 diesel engines that provide an impressive range of 5,900 nautical miles at 10 knots.

The launch of the Nauta Air 86 YOLO (now Rosey) in June 2014 marked the beginning of the Nauta Air series. Mario Pedol and Massimo Gino of Nauta Design designed this 27.15-meter aluminum yacht accommodates ten guests in four staterooms and four crew members in two cabins. With a range of 3,200 nautical miles at 9 knots, the Nauta Air 86 YOLO set the foundation for the subsequent expansion of the line, including the 90-foot Noga (now Icon) and the benchmark 111-foot Hyhmä, which completed a voyage through the Northwest Passage.

CdM’s first project exceeding 100 feet in length was the Darwin Class 107, delivered in July 2015, boasting an impressive 300 GT rating. Following this achievement, the shipyard unveiled the Darwin Class Narvalo, a 108-foot explorer yacht, in 2016, which received a special award for Quality & Value at the 2017 World Superyacht Awards. Another notable vessel, the Nauta Air 110 Mimi la Sardine, delivered in 2018, received accolades at both Boat International’s Design Awards and the World Superyacht Awards, further solidifying CdM’s reputation for excellence.

Pioneering the Future: CdM’s Unwavering Leadership

As CdM celebrated its first decade of business in 2021, the shipyard’s semi-custom lines have coalesced around the Darwin Class model platforms at 92, 102 and 112 feet, the Flexplorer at 130 and 146 feet, and the RJ series based on platforms at 115 and 130 feet. Cantiere delle Marche Launches Superyacht “Maverick”

Italian shipyard Cantiere delle Marche, whose specialty is long-range explorer yachts from 85 to 154 feet length overall, has launched Maverick . It’s the first of three Flexplorer 146 yachts that are under construction.

Hull No. 1 is owned by Tom Schroder of FIL Brothers in Austria, whose support for the yard inspired co-founder and CEO Vasco Buonpensiere to state: “This yacht, in addition to its countless intrinsic virtues, holds a special place in our hearts because it belongs to an owner who has known and appreciated us to the point of becoming the major shareholder of our shipyard.”

Maverick has exteriors, naval architecture and engineering by Hydro Tec. The yacht’s interiors are by Francesco Paszkowski with Margherita Casprini.

Accommodations are for as many as 13 guests in seven staterooms, with quarters for six crew. And make no mistake: This is an explorer yacht that is expected to take those owners and guests far, far away from the docks.

The yard says it’s planning to document every leg of an upcoming multiyear journey that the owner plans to undertake around the world, with destinations likely to include Iceland, Greenland and northern Canada. Maverick ’s steel hull is built 22 millimeters thick at the waterline to be able to handle the icy waters the yacht will encounter in those locations.

Power is a pair of 1,300-horsepower Caterpillar ACERT diesels that the builder says propel Maverick to a top speed of 14 knots. Range is reportedly trans-Atlantic, with the yacht able to achieve 5,000 nautical miles at 10 knots.

Features that suggest how the yacht might be used in some of the planet’s most remote places include a custom A-frame crane that Advanced Mechanical Solutions built from carbon fiber with a lifting capacity of 4 tons. It will launch the tenders—including a custom 31-footer by Valerio Rivellini. The launching system keeps tenders out of the way, creating extra room on board for guest spaces such as a beach club with a gym, sauna and scuba-diving center.

For more guest relaxation (and amazing views), the yacht’s bulwarks fold down, expanding the aft deck into a more than 1,450-square-foot lounging space. There’s a swimming pool at the transom that, when covered, transforms into stowage for deck furniture. Inside, the salon is made to feel bigger with an asymmetrical design that allows crew passage to port but full-beam guest space to starboard. (It’s similar to the asymmetrical design of the Flexplorer 130.)

How long has Cantiere delle Marche been in business? Since 2010. The yard is in Ancona, Italy, a hotbed of yacht construction with many skilled craftspeople.

Cantiere del Pardo: 50 years of history and success

The year 2023 marks an important milestone for Cantiere del Pardo . The shipyard, in fact, has recently celebrated its first 50 th anniversary. Half a century of Italian naval tradition aimed at always offering the best to its owners, without losing the verve of its beginnings, but on the contrary, gaining fame and respect, decade after decade, until becoming a true international reference in the sector.

steps were taken in the sailing world in 1973 when Giuseppe Giuliani Ricci founded Grand Soleil Yachts , a successful Italian company that immediately became a leader in the sailboat market. With an eye on the future, the company has deep and firm roots, and has always managed to combine innovation and tradition over the decades.

“ The history of Cantiere del Pardo is rich and complex – says Fabio Planamente, CEO of the company – It is easier to identify some ‘milestones’ that coincide with the phases in which the company demonstrated its ability to adapt to changes, leading it to become what it is universally considered today: a flagship of the Italian shipbuilding industry. These ‘milestones’ can be identified as three moments: first, the passing of the baton – or perhaps it would be better to say ‘of the helm’ – from Giuseppe Giuliani Ricci to a series of funds; then, the 2014 restart, after the darkest period of boating, and, finally, the phase we hold most dear, the 2015-2017 three-year period. This coincides with the launch of the Long Cruise sailing range and, shortly after, with the birth of the Pardo Yachts brand, which led us into the motor world, giving us the boost to look forward with confidence and grow more and more.”

Today Cantiere del Pardo is steered by Fabio Planamente and Gigi Servidati. In 2016, the shipyard decided to write another chapter in its long history, opening up to the motor yacht segment.

“ The thought of building a motorboat had been around for some time, because our nautical passion has always been 360° – explains Gigi Servidati, Chairman of Cantiere del Pardo – So, when it was time for the shipyard to expand, Fabio and I thought we’d do it with some important innovations.”

Cantiere del Pardo: the origins

The first steps in the sailing world for Grand Soleil Yachts were immediately premonitory: a great success for every new model launched, some reaching such a peak that almost 300 units were built, as in the case of the GS 34 , the first sailing yacht designed by Jean-Marie Finot between 1973 and 1983 , which immediately marked one of the major yachting milestones. The iconic yacht built in both racing and cruising versions, distinguished by its characteristic circular porthole aft, instantly positioned Cantiere del Pardo in the medium-high end of the market.

A similar fate came to the GS 39 and 35 models designed by Alain Jézéquel, as well as the GS 53, GS 45 and GS 42 resulting from the collaboration with German Frers in the late 1980s.

The secret, perhaps, of this incredible, all-Italian success lies in the deliberate choice of creating, era after era, a fresh, innovative and design-oriented product, choosing these designers who could bring the idea of Cantiere del Pardo to the water, surprising the public and professionals alike.

Many of these boats, in fact, were witnesses to and protagonists of the different solutions of the time, also anticipating many ideas later adopted by the market, further highlighting Cantiere del Pardo’s winning strategy of entrusting famous designers with each model, characterising each historical period.

Cantiere del Pardo: the new motor chapter

For a few years now, Pardo Yachts , the Cantiere del Pardo’s motor boat brand, has managed to establish itself on the yachting scene, immediately reaching important levels, both in the Italian and foreign markets.

The first, and most famous boat that marked the debut of Cantiere del Pardo in the motorboat segment was the Pardo 43 , an irreverent 13m walkaround with negative-V bow and hull optimised for IPS propulsion. At its début in Cannes, thirty units were sold, which became 270 in just six years.

What many considered a risky choice turned out to be a resounding success , which encouraged Pardo Yachts to increase the range with the Pardo 50 and Pardo 38 models and diversify it to meet the ever-growing requests from owners. This is how the Endurance and GT lines were born.

The Endurance line aimed to fill a gap in the trawler market, where there was a lack of cruising boats with an optimized hull to efficiently travel at twenty and more knots, and at the same time without the annoying rolling effect to improve performance, comfort and liveability aboard.

The first exciting model, the Endurance 60 , was the result of the joint work of Cantiere del Pardo, naval architect Davide Leone and Nauta Design, the design firm behind the interiors.

“ The result –

Gigi Servidati says – has stylistic features that are very reminiscent of Pardo Yachts and has excellent characteristics both in terms of speed performance and fuel consumption. It is also a very comfortable boat, and for this reason too I think it is an excellent product for a sailor who wants to switch to a motorboat.”

The previously announced Endurance 72 will follow in 2024, which has already been dubbed by Davide Leone himself as “his best project”.

Launched in 2022 with the GT 52 , the GT line , on the other hand, can be considered a middle ground between the previous vessels, because the line offers an enclosed version of the Pardo models with the exceptional shipyard’s family feeling, larger and more comfortable interior by Nauta Design and three comfortable cabins.

In 2020, Servidati and Planamente decided to acquire the Dutch brand VanDutch , which, shaped by the Mulder Design studio, created instantly recognizable yachts with great charm. While respecting the original lines, the boats produced by Cantiere del Pardo now feature optimized hulls and improved habitability.

The VanDutch Yachts models produced so far by Cantiere del Pardo are the VD 32, the VD40, the VD 48 and the VD56, which will be followed by a 75-foot model.

As in the sailing segment, the “motor road” Cantiere del Pardo has started down is already decorated with important awards , including the recent renewal of the partnership with Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli , as the team’s official supplier for the 37th America’s Cup

Celebrations

On the last week of June 2023 the celebrations for the shipyard’s 50th anniversary took place in Portopiccolo, Trieste, gathering designers, dealers, owners and prominent nautical personalities from all over the world in a picturesque location.

First with the Gala Dinner, and then with the two days of regattas for the Grand Soleil Cup , now in its 21st edition, the celebrations continued with moments of sharing, cheerfulness and healthy competition also in the Vintage category, and for the first time ever the Pardo Water Rally was also staged.

The new horizon of Cantiere del Pardo

The new era of designers welcomed Massimo Paperini , who penned the Grand Soleil 40 , bringing a breath of fresh air to the shipyard, and proposed a stylistically revolutionary model that would change its destiny forever. The almost vertical bow and the tapering strip of the deckhouse changed the taste of sailing yachts, and the GS 40 was a resounding success.

Grand Soleil 56 was then designed by Philippe Briand and the Judel/Vrolijk studio, but since 2011, Cantiere del Pardo has decided to work with Italian designers only. After Paperini and Luca Brenta , it was the turn of Claudio Maletto , who designed the naval architecture of two boats, the iconic GS 39 with torpedo bulb, and the Grand Soleil 43, the first boat to have a fixed bowsprit.

In 2013 Marco Lostuzzi presented Grand Soleil 46 Long Cruise, a performance boat alongside a cruising boat, something never seen before. Since 2020 Matteo Polli has signed three projects: GS 44, GS 40 and GS 72 , in Performance or Long Cruise version (recently launched) and GS 65 which will be launched in the coming months.

The history of the

shipyard is very long but the future is still to be written, treasuring the know-how and values that have made this company great. Cantiere del Pardo is always looking for new solutions, new design ideas to revolutionize, model after model, our seas, taking the excellence of Made in Italy ever higher.

Her low draft of makes her primed for accessing shallow areas and cruising close to the shorelines. Her water tanks store around 2,000 Litres of fresh water.

Two important events saw the Mangusta Maxi Open by the prominent Italian builder Overmarine again protagonist on the nautical scene: Marine Max exclusive partner for the United States attended the Palm Beach Boat Show , running from March 22 to 25 with the spectacular motor yacht Mangusta 92 and the Mangusta 130 superyacht on display. Burevestnik Group, on the other hand, was the star of the Moscow International Boat Show , taking place from March 20 to 25 exhibiting the scale models of the luxury yacht Mangusta Oceano 148, the superyacht Mangusta 92, the Mangusta 165 as well as Mangusta 130 yachts.

MANGUSTA 92 ( an example of Mangusta 92 is the motor yacht ILLUSION ) Stylish and fast luxury motor yacht Mangusta 92 represents perfect proportions. She offers an ambitious layout that permits for 3 beautiful staterooms and a relax room or 4 staterooms, each with high-tech entertainment centers. Run by twin MTU 16V2000M94 of 2600Hp each and Kamewa 56S3 jet drives, the Mangusta 92 achieves the exciting speed of 37 knots.
