HELIANTHUS (formally BODY HEAT) is a hand laid fiberglass boat with a cored hull (Airex).  All high load/stress areas have been de-cored and are reinforced with several additional layers of fiberglass matt.  The 6" hull/deck flange is glued and bolted in place.

Unlike other SW 42 models, HELIANTHUS has a reverse (racing) transom (making her 44' long) and deep fixed fin keel (7' draft.) with spade rudder.  Her topsides are protected by rub rails (awlgripped to match hull) and topped with quarter-round stainless steel.

Her hull was recently re-painted (Awl grip) vivid red in 2020.  Her deck and cabin sides are Oyster White gelcoat with molded in "Cloud Grey" non-skid.  Her signature gold leaf cove stripe, double white boot top and red bottom paint complete the attractive performance look.

Like most SW models, a highly polished stainless steel stem iron adorns her bow and integrates the open chocks and anchor bow roller.  A custom stainless steel bow pulpit houses the running lights and transitions to double lifelines to the mid-ship boarding gates and then to the custom stainless steel stern pushpit.  The center of the stern pushpit can be opened for med-mooring and includes a custom stainless folding swim ladder with teak treads. Custom stainless steel stanchions are fitted with double lifelines from bow to stern.  Custom stainless midship chocks are fitted in the high gloss varnished teak toe rails, and her cabin top provides varnished teak handrails and an attractive varnished teak eyebrow.

There are 4 opening overhead hatches along with the sliding companionway hatch and all are built with translucent acrylic for additional light.  (4) Chrome plated Dorade vents are mounted on teak boxes and provide additional airflow below.

Two stainless steel genoa tracks are mounted to teak tow rail along with a second set of genoa tracks mounted inboard to the deck.  Two flush-mounted deck prisms bring more light to her interior; one forward and one over the Nav station.  Other on-deck features include:

-  Custom ventilator in forward cabin hatch acrylic top

-  12 v outlet for spotlight in Dorade box

-  Custom aft lazzarette hatch for lines, fenders and more.

-  Aft deck shower with hot/cold mixing valve.

HELIANTHUS is equipped with an electric Stoway in-mast furling system.  Her mast is aluminum and painted Oyster White and topped with clear Awlgrip.  The stoway system is fitted with a manual override/back-up.  She is very well laid out for short-handed sailing.  Unfurling/furling the main and jib can easily be done from the cockpit.

A full bodied cruiser with good performance and shoal draft, she combines great cruise-ability with excellent manners at sea.  The exceptional build quality means that with care and upgrading in systems and rigging these yachts will provide many decades of use and pride of ownership.

  • New interior soft goods
  • New Ullman main and genoa

For those looking for a classic sailboat with thoroughbred lines and all the upgrades and creature comforts of a new boat, "Incorrigible" is a must see. She shall be in Annapolis after Labor Day Weekend and can be easily shown. Feel free to call and make an appointment to see this fine example of a modern day classic Hinckley/Hood 43.

  • Specifications
  • Description

The Hinckley 43 was designed as a fast cruising boat, building on the beamy keel/centerboard designs of the Hood office and their lead Naval Architect, Dieter Empacher.  These designs proved that you could combine shoal draft, excellent sailing characteristics, and the volume needed for comfortable long range cruising.

Though built in 1976 (Hull #1428), you will note in the following that Incorrigible has benefited from a thorough, ongoing program of upgrading to keep her fresh and up-to-date.  Construction and joinery is typical "Hinckley" and will provide safe and comfortable cruising and club racing for decades to come.

Accommodations are adaptable for cruising, with a private V-berth cabin forward and 4-6 single berths aft of the spar, the latter providing plenty of sea berths for offshore passages.

Upgrades and Custom Features of this 43′ Hinckley Talaria 43:

The Hinckley Talaria 43 or T43 is one of the most successful and popular models by Hinckley and Ithaki is no exception.   Flag Blue paint and perfectly accented designer fabrics and finishes compliment the gloss varnished cherry pilothouse and teak exterior.  She incorporates many Hinckley firsts, from the galley up layout (excellent for cruising and entertaining) to the patented frameless glass aft enclosure.

The Talaria 43 features an innovative glass aft pilothouse enclosure that disappears with the touch of a button to connect the cockpit and pilothouse in a seamless, open, and airy environment.  Huge opening hatches and sliding side windows complete the feeling.

A galley-up layout results in great light and visibility and connection to the living area. Below, a large master cabin with a centerline queen berth and a second guest cabin share a well laid out head with separate stall shower.

Operator Experience Zero Draft

Zero draft of a Hinckley lets you disappear to that secluded beach in the Abacos, empty cove in Maine, and anywhere in between. Running a Hinckley feels just as at home on open water at 36 knots as it does in 36” in that hidden cove or nestled up to your favorite beach.

  • Run Safe Without the Running Gear
  • More Fun. No Drag.

Typical running gear on IPS drives protrude beyond the centerline keel of a boat—making their way into your subconscious while running. With the Zero Draft of jet propulsion, the deep-v is all you think about while slicing clearly through whatever conditions you’re in. Focus on the moment, not the gear below the waterline.

Your swim platform is your beach onboard without distraction. Back up to your favorite spot and jump in—without a care in the world.

Without the drag of propellers or pods, life on plane becomes smooth and vibration free with water jet propulsion.
