NO VACANCY: 100 Broward Motoryacht Walkthrough

NO VACANCY: 100 Broward Motoryacht Walkthrough

June 26, 2018 2:27 pm

Today we’re on the Gulf Coast of Florida in Fort Myers to show you through this 100′ Broward Motor Yacht, named NO VACANCY . She has a 4-stateroom, 5-head layout, the preferred CAT 3412 engines and an impressive list of upgrades. Welcome onboard.

We’ll begin our tour here on the flybridge. It’s a fantastic space with tons of room for everyone. The aft section contains a 17-foot Key West skiff and is handled by a Marc Webb davit with 2,000 pounds of capacity. This flybridge offers plenty of room for entertaining with seating everywhere you look. In 2017, the owner replaced the Bimini top and installed all-new cushions here.

A wet bar lives further forward fitted with a sink and new Uline fridge and ice maker. All the way forward on the bridge, we come to the upper helm station. A wide bench gives you more than enough room to join the captain. The electronics were also recently upgraded, Garmin glass bridge suite that also included new Glendinning fly-by-wire controls.

From here, you can go down into the pilot house but we’re going to move down the aft spiral staircase to check out the aft deck. There are boarding gates to either side, and two Korean dining tables with wraparound bench seating. And then forward here to the portside is a wet bar complete with sink, commercial mini-fridge and sportsman ice maker.

From the aft deck, we can access the transom on the starboard side. This area is perfect when you’re at anchor, giving you plenty of space for water activities. You can find our primary access to the crew quarters and engine room here. But we’re going to come back here later. From the stern, we’ll come back into the aft deck before moving into the salon.

The salon is full beam with a completely open layout. It’s simple with laminate hardwood floors and neutral colors. To the portside, we have a comfortable seating area and just forward is a cozy office desk. Across from here to starboard, you have additional seating and this is where you begin to notice the massive windows throughout the main deck.

Forward in the salon is your formal dining area and there’s also another wet bar with sink beneath this huge LED TV. It’s also important to note that you can board the boat amidships on both sides. Near the starboard boarding door, you’ll find a day head. If we continue forward, we’ll find a staircase to the pilot house. In the aft section we have an elevated settee. Now you can access this pilot house from the port side, the starboard side and like we mentioned before, from up on the flybridge. The helm features pretty much everything we saw up on the flybridge including the new Garmin glass bridge electronics, GPS, chartplotter, radar, autopilot – all the good stuff.

NO VACANCY 100' Broward

We’re going to move down from the pilot house on the starboard side and continue forward. We walk into the famous country kitchen that Broward is well known for. Again, you’ll find massive windows on both sides that keep you connected to your environment wherever you are. The galley has everything you’ll need for long term cruising including a side-by-side, full-size fridge freezer with an additional Subzero freezer, cook top, microwave, wine cooler and trash compactor.

Further forward is a big dinette that completes this space and offers a less formal dining option. From the galley, we have a staircase forward to the starboard side that takes us down to the private VIP stateroom. With a centerline queen, storage under the berth, there’s a settee at the aft located near a cedar line closet and your ensuite head.

Now let’s go back into the salon to the port side where we can find the access to the other three staterooms. The master is located forward from here but we’re going to move aft into the guest staterooms first. The port stateroom here has two berths, a full and a twin, lots of storage and an ensuite head further aft. The starboard stateroom layout is similar but here you have opposing twin beds instead.

NO VACANCY 100' Broward

Now forward from here we walk into the full beam master stateroom, king-size bed with storage beneath and his and hers cedar-lined closets. The master head is forward and is also his and hers and it’s anchored by this walk in marble shower. Now let’s move back to the transom where we can access our crew quarters and mechanical space. There are two crew cabins here, the captain’s cabin to port and another crew stateroom to starboard and there’s also a head and shower to starboard as well. Forward from here we enter into the engine room. She’s powered by CAT 3412 with 1350 horsepower each.

Don’t forget to go through the listing, which you can find in the description. There you can see a full list of mechanical services that were recently completed. Thank you for joining us today on board NO VACANCY, a 100′ Broward motor yacht, located on the Gulf Coast of Florida in Fort Myers. If you have any questions about the boat or if you’d like to schedule a private showing, contact Charles Blickle.

#23 | No Vacancy

This serious 75' fishing machine was designed to be a viable player on the fishing circuit and built to incoporate luxurious accommodations.

Despite her head-turning good looks, her design, shape and profile are first and foremost based on her intended purpose. Low, sleek, and appearing as if in constant motion, she is in perfect proportion to her length. Whether viewing her landing strip foredeck, the gentle slope of the house with its familiar black brow or the open bridge design with its massive and fully functional Palm Beach tower, everything about De Bait Able is in harmony and balance. And even up on the bow, her removable casting station and flush-mounted livewell make sense.

An Expansive Salon

The expansive salon has C-shaped -seating to port with a Release Marine custom teak table featuring storage below. The fully found galley lies forward; opposite, a spacious dinette, under which is an electrically operated rod storage drawer. Of particular note here is the distinctive overhead cutout that adds an effective and special design statement to the area.

Fishing Amenities Galore

Because the owner does lots of live-bait fishing they wanted to make her complete with some innovations we feel many other rigs do not have. The transom was custom-designed for a pair of 55-gallon livewells with the ability to run both with just one pump. The wells can also be pressurized while the boat is running to prevent any sloshing around in a big sea and injuring or killing the bait.

A Spacious Engine Room

With a 75-foot length and 20 feet, 9 inches of beam, Blue Time has the kind of engine room that offers space, space and more space. There's ample room for the 2,600 hp MTU mains, the pair of 32 kW Cummins Onan gensets, the M26000 Seakeeper gyro mounted in its own custom-made cradle on the centerline forward of the engines, and all of the pumps, water management and air-conditioning systems.

Spirted Performance

She has a notable ability to cut through head-on and quartering waves, in addition to excellent stability with following seas. She jumps quickly up out of the hole and settles into an impressive cruise speed. She displays superior directional stability and tracks straight and true during flat-out speed runs.

Hurricane tracker, severe weather, radar & maps, news & features, winter center, news / weather news, six people missing and one dead after tornado sinks luxury yacht off sicily.

By Barbie Latza Nadeau, CNN

Published Aug 19, 2024 8:40 AM PDT | Updated Aug 19, 2024 8:40 AM PDT

A search operation continued Aug. 19 near Port of Porticello, Italy, for survivors of a British yacht sunk by a tornado. Fifteen people have been rescued from the scene, while 6 remain missing.

(CNN) —  Rescuers were on Monday searching for six people – including British tech tycoon  Mike Lynch  – who went missing after a luxury yacht was hit by a tornado and sank off the coast of Sicily, killing one of the 22 people on board.

The vessel was hit by the tornado at around 5 a.m. Monday, according to a spokesperson for Italy’s Coast Guard. The yacht was anchored about a half a mile from the port of Porticello on the Mediterranean island.

Four Britons and two Americans are among those missing, the spokesperson said.

A source told CNN that Lynch, the founder of software giant Autonomy, was a passenger on the yacht. His wife, Angela Bacares, was rescued. The source spoke to CNN on the condition of anonymity, as they were not authorized to speak to the media.

Fifteen others were rescued from the scene and one child was airlifted to the children’s hospital in Palermo. Eight people were hospitalized in total, according to the mayor’s office. One body was found on the hull of the yacht, the Coast Guard said.

A small  waterspout  – one of several types of tornadoes – developed over the area Monday morning, according to a report from the European Severe Weather Database. Other strong storms across Sicily brought torrential rainfall late Sunday, dumping more than 4 inches (100 mm) of rain in less than four hours in Brolo, east of Palermo, in less than four hours.

The weather forecast had warned of potential strong winds, with storms across the entire southern region of Italy Sunday, the Coast Guard spokesperson added.

One survivor, Charlotte, 35, described how she battled to hold onto her one-year-old daughter, Sofia, reported Italian news agency ANSA, as a barrage of waves sank the yacht.

“In two seconds I lost the baby in the sea, then I immediately hugged her again amidst the fury of the waves. I held her tightly, close to me, while the sea was stormy,” she told journalists. “Many were screaming.”

The captain is among the survivors, the spokesperson for Italy’s Coast Guard said.

The 56-meter yacht called the “Bayesian,” which flies under a British flag, had mostly British passengers and crew, in addition to two Anglo-French, one New Zealander, one Irish and one Sri Lankan, the spokesperson told CNN.

The Italian fire brigade said its divers had reached the yacht’s hull 49 meters (160 feet) below sea level, according to a press statement. The brigade also dispatched helicopters to bolster the search operation.

The captain of a nearby boat said he turned on his engine to avoid crashing into the Bayesian, Reuters reported, as fierce gales swept the area.

“This morning we got this strong gust and we had to start the engine to keep the ship in an angled position,” he told reporters on Monday. “After the storm was over, we noticed that the ship behind us was gone.”

British tycoon among those missing

Lynch, the British entrepreneur missing from the yacht, had been plagued by legal woes  since 2011 , when he sold his company to tech firm Hewlett-Packard (HP) for $11 billion.

In June, he was acquitted of fraud by a jury in San Francisco, after prosecutors accused him of trying to inflate Autonomy’s revenue in the latest chapter of the legal saga.

He turned ground-breaking research at Cambridge University into the foundation of Autonomy, which became Britain’s biggest software company and a member of the blue-chip FTSE 100 index.

Lynch was lauded by academics and scientists and asked to advise the British government on technology and innovation.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

Steve Jobs' former yacht Venus collided with another superyacht off the coast of Naples

  • Venus, the yacht built for Steve Jobs , collided with another yacht off Italy's coast.
  • It's unclear which yacht struck which or when exactly the crash occurred.
  • With a minimalist design, Venus is one of the world's most iconic superyachts.

Insider Today

Venus, Steve Jobs' former superyacht — now owned by his wife, the philanthropist and investor Laurene Powell Jobs — has collided with another superyacht off of the Italian coast.

A spokesperson from Powell Jobs' Emerson Collective who spoke with a crewmember confirmed to Business Insider that Venus, the 78-meter yacht Steve Jobs commissioned, had collided with Lady Moura, a 105-meter yacht. The collision happened on July 22 off the coast of Naples, Italy.

The spokesperson said that only crew were onboard the yacht and that both boats were anchored when a sudden change of wind led to the collision.

Venus is cruising in the Ligurian Sea, while Lady Moura made its way to Mykonos on Wednesday, based on publicly available tracking data from Marine Traffic.

Videos posted on social media show the strikingly minimalist Venus and the Lady Moura coming into contact. It's not clear from the videos which superyacht struck which, though someone who said they were aboard the Lady Moura seemed to blame Venus' crew on social media, SuperYacht Times reported. The person said the damage was "only a scratch, albeit a significant one that will be costly to repair."

Others on social media said that the Venus appeared to be moored and that Lady Moura seemed to have swung into the boat. BI hasn't been able to independently verify either claim.

Related stories

The Italian Marina Militare didn't respond to a request for comment from Business Insider. The owner of the Lady Moura couldn't be reached.

No matter how little damage may have been done, insurance will probably cover it. Yacht insurance , which can cost six figures each month, is one of the largest costs incurred by yacht owners.

Venus, built by the top yacht-builder Feadship, was delivered after Jobs died in 2011 and was worth $130 million upon completion. The Apple cofounder was heavily involved in the design process alongside the French architect and decorator Philippe Starck.

"Venus comes from the philosophy of minimum," Starck said of her design. "The elegance of the minimum, approaching dematerialization."

Jobs and Starck spent four years working on her design, the designer told Vanity Fair , holding monthly meetings to discuss her specifications. She has six identical cabins, was built to maximize absolute silence, and, upon delivery, included the most up-to-date technology.

"There will never again be a boat of that quality again. Because never again will two madmen come together to accomplish such a task," Starck told the magazine. "It was not a yacht that Steve and I were constructing, we were embarked on a philosophical action, implemented according to a quasi-religious process. We formed a single brain with four lobes." August 7, 2024 — This story has been updated with a statement from a Laurene Powell Jobs spokesperson.

The sinking of the Bayesian superyacht

  • READ MORE:  'Britain's Bill Gates' and his daughter are among six feared dead

What was an elaborate celebration to commemorate Mike Lynch's high stakes fraud acquittal turned into tragedy as his superyacht fell victim to a freak water spout.

The luxury sailboat was docked off the coast of Porticello, near Palermo, when a 'whirlwind' hit the area just before 5am this morning, wrecking the boat and causing it to rapidly disappear beneath the waves.

The yacht had been visible to surrounding ships before it suddenly vanished, claiming the life of one person while six remain missing.

Fifteen of the 22 people onboard were rescued by Sir Robert BP, a Dutch  sailing ship, which was in front of the yacht.

British tech tycoon Lynch had reportedly invited his family and friends on the sailboat to celebrate charges of fraud and conspiracy for allegedly scheming to inflate a company's value before it was sold being dropped.

'At around 4:30 in the morning it was gone. A beautiful vessel where there had been a party. A normal holiday day spent happily at sea turned into a tragedy,' a witness told Italian news agency ANSA.

As a desperate search effort is underway to find the missing six - including British and American tourists - MailOnline takes a look at how the tragedy unfolded.

The storm hitting

The superyacht was lit up and illuminating the water when a water spout suddenly occured in close proximity to the boat.

Just before 5am in the morning, the yacht became caught up in the spout and then suddenly disappeared, according to witnesses.

The yacht going down

Witnesses have described the moment the yacht went down as very sudden, claiming it was as if it just disappeared.

One person said: 'The boat was all lit up. Around 4.30 am, it was no longer there.

'A beautiful boat where there was a party. A normal joyous vacation day at sea turned into tragedy.'

Meanwhile, the captain of the Dutch ship which saved 15 of the 22 people onboard the yacht also claimed the boat disappeared.

Captain Karsten Borner told the BBC: 'After the storm was over, we noticed that the ship behind us was gone.'

He added: 'With a light we saw that the ship was inside [the water], and then we saw a triangle. So I think she went back. Terrible. Terrible moment.'

Passengers rescued

Fifteen of the 22 passengers - including British and American tourists - were saved by Captain Borner's Dutch ship.

Once the storm subsided, Borner said he and his friend noticed a flare in the water, and made their way towards it.

There they found the lifeboat with those who had escaped inside, including a one-year-old baby and mother Charlotte Golunski.

Among the six still missing are British billionaire tech tycoon Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter.

Search rescue

A massive search operation to find the six still missing continues today.

Tragically, the body of a man - believed to be a Canadian national who was working as the boat's chef - was found floating alongside the vessel earlier today.

There are fears that those who are still missing became trapped in their cabins, with divers earlier reporting that they saw 'bodies through the portholes' of the yacht, according to Italian media.

Uri alum tom burnham leads u.s. challenger in 37th america’s cup.

Cup racing opens Aug. 22 with preliminary regatta in Barcelona

American Magic team coach Tom Burnham '93

KINGSTON, R.I. – Aug. 19, 2024 – It’s probably no surprise that sailing led Tom Burnham ’93 to the University of Rhode Island.

Now head coach of the New York Yacht Club’s America’s Cup challenger, American Magic, Burnham grew up sailing in Orange, Connecticut. In his senior year of high school, already competing at the international level, Burnham raced in the 420s championship in Yugoslavia.

As luck would have it, teammates on the U.S. team included some URI sailors who sang the university’s praises. When Burnham returned to Connecticut, it was the spring of his senior year. He had committed to another school, but he took time to visit URI.

“I’ve sailed all my life. I was never a standout superstar but I was always involved in sailing and loved sailing,” Burnham says over the phone from Barcelona, Spain, as American Magic prepares for the 37th America’s Cup, which starts Aug. 22 with the preliminary regatta. “It was one of the main reasons I went to URI, frankly. And the sailing team was really good at the time.”

Burnham’s addition to the URI team didn’t hurt either. In his four years at URI, the sailing team won several national championships and reached the World Collegiate Keelboat Championships – also called the Student Yachting World Cup – all four years. In 1990, the Rams became the only U.S. team to win the World Cup. It’s a distinction they still hold 34 years later.

Led by All-American Lars Guck, the eight-person team beat Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Italy, France, and Australia in a field of nine other boats to take the championship, winning the last three races. Burnham remembers the great team atmosphere among URI’s eight sailors.

“I look back on that team and think of how we had some tough times during the event,” says Burnham, the bowman during the regatta, handling the sails in windy conditions. “It was a pretty long event. There were a lot of challenging conditions and some tough sailing. We worked really hard together and gelled as a team without a whole lot of practice.”

To celebrate, the team drove overnight to Paris after the winning race and ended up at the Hotel de Ville, the city hall of Paris, where the mayor awarded them a trophy. When they flew into T.F. Green Airport  in Warwick, then-URI President Edward Eddy  and others were there to greet them. The team members still stay in touch, Burnham says.

“Funny enough, I got a message just two days ago from one of the women on the team, Tara Walcott, with a photo of us from that trip, just out of the blue,” says Burnham, who lives in Newport. “Lars, the skipper, his son is now a sailor at URI. And my son, who is going to be a senior in high school, wants to apply to URI and be on the sailing team. [We’re] trying to keep the tradition going.”

Burnham, a team captain for two or three seasons at URI, describes himself as a team player, a role player, a team leader – and less of a standout performer. But he has put together a career on the water that would make many envious – while being among the lucky several hundred sailors who make a living at it as a professional.

“There’s no question that my time at URI and my time as part of the sailing team really made a huge impact on my life,”  he says.

His career started by being in the right place at the right time. In 1997, he was living in Newport, doing some coaching and taking care of people’s boats, when he got an invitation to go out for a day with America’s Cup challenger Young America, which was training in nearby Quonset Point. That turned into a job that started a 10-year run of competing in the America’s Cup, including two campaigns with the Italian team, Luna Rossa. In 2017, he returned to the America’s Cup as head coach of Sweden’s Artemis Racing.

He was hired about two years ago to coach the New York Yacht Club American Magic. The mission was to win the 37th America’s Cup, returning the Cup to the yacht club that held it for 132 years. The mission starts Aug. 22 when American Magic gets its first close-up look at the four challengers – Britain, Italy, Switzerland, and France – and defending champion Emirates Team New Zealand in preliminary regatta. The racing starts for real Aug. 29 with the start of the Louis Vuitton Cup round-robin regatta. The regatta’s winner will face New Zealand for the America’s Cup, starting Oct. 12.

In those two years readying for the Cup, American Magic has put together its eight-man crew and substitutes and built a brand new AC75, the 75-foot-long monohull racing yacht that the Cup adopted in 2021. The yacht – Patriot – was the work of the club’s more than 40 engineers, about a third of the club’s total workforce. Patriot was built in Portsmouth at the yacht club’s manufacturing facility and flown to Barcelona on a huge Antonov cargo plane.

no vacancy yacht

“The whole technology, construction, and design side is really a big part of the program with America’s Cup teams,” he says. “So that’s really exciting.”

Asked about his role as head coach, his first thoughts go to creating an inclusive team atmosphere.

“My real goal, my focus as a coach, is to create the environment for learning … where people feel comfortable asking questions and allowing themselves to be open to input, feedback and learning together,” he says.

As the crew practices off the Port of Barcelona, Burnham coaches from a chase boat, following behind Patriot and communicating directly with its crew. When racing begins, he will be in the chase boat, but stationed to the side of the race course and not allowed communication with Patriot. “That’s part of the reason why fostering this atmosphere and getting guys to work together and problem-solve is so important,” he says. “They have to be self-reliant and deal with things as they come up while they’re racing.”

The crew will get to start testing their pre-race preparation when the preliminary regatta starts. It’s strictly a dress rehearsal for organizers and racing teams – no one’s keeping points.

“We’re working through different starting strategies and techniques on how we’re sailing the boat. Then there’s the new technology going on the boat every day,” Burnham says about their practices. “[We’re deciding] how much we want to keep changing things and continuing to evolve; or, do we lock down some of the technology so we can be consistent with how we’re sailing the boat. Because you learn it really well when it’s not changing as much.”

Asked to handicap the Cup, Burnham starts with his standard line: It will be close and come down to execution on race day.

But he adds: “I certainly like our sailing team … and I think the boats are going to be relatively similar. There are going to be some boats that have better days than others in terms of wind conditions. There might be some teams that are great in heavy air but not so good in light air. These are all things we’re going to find out in the next couple of weeks.

“I think that we’re doing well and we’re in a good place, but I’m certainly not overconfident about it either.”
