Hi, I have been looking at my options for Dockage this year. I have been at the AYC 2 years and have a call into the Oakdale Yacht club. Anyone been to both? I would be grateful for any comparison reviews. I know some people at "Oakdale" and they have some good parties and the Snapper-inn is nearby along with the Riverview. They both have pools. The other item is that we like to go to Fire island ( Flynns & Kismit) with the price of fuel the extra cost for "Oakdale" it maybe cheaper overall. But it is 10min further from my house. John G

John I think Oakdale is a nicer marina and is more protected than AYC, but I think you'll find Oakdale to be considerably more expensive than AYC and much stricter about performing your own work or having an outsider work on your boat.  

Oakdale YC is Closer to Resturants & Bars.  

Depending on the amenities you are looking for, Nicolls Point Marina is right next to the Snapper Inn and reasonably priced. Anthony, who runs the yard and is a mechanic is very accomodating and easy to deal with. Good Luck!

John, before you "jump" ship, I looked at both Oakdale, and Nicholls bay, IMO: I like backing my truck up to the boat for loading and un- loading, Both above have finger docks, one has a pool it looks like, AYC has 24hr "security":smt009 anyway we discussed moving and the pros never outweighed the cons in our opinion.

Village Idiot food truck is coming to the Oakdale Yacht Club this summer

New tastes and entertainment are coming to the Oakdale Yacht Club this summer.

The folks behind Oakdale’s Village Idiot Irish Pub and Patchogue’s waterside restaurant Drift 82 are taking over the property’s food truck and outdoor bar. The group – comprised of John Sarno, Tim Kelly and Nicole Ferretti – will also take on the booking of musical performances at the club’s patio, under its big tent.

The new operation will by called VIIP at OYC.

“We can’t wait for the summer,” Sarno told GreaterSayville this month.

The yacht club, situated alongside the Connetquot River, used a different vendor to man its food services over the last few years.

According to the club’s owners, it made sense to bring in the Village Idiot and Drift 82 team.

“OYC’s owner Tom [Crowley] told us, ‘We love your food, we love your place,'” said Sarno.

In the food truck, there will be a variety of quick, seven-minutes-or-less dishes. This includes sandwiches, salads, wings, seared tuna and a raw bar.

“How we make it at Drift is how we are going to make it on the truck,” said Sarno, who recently launched a new Village Idiot location in Lake Grove .

While the Oakdale Yacht Club’s amenities, such as docking privileges and access to the property, are reserved for club members, non-members can still frequent the outdoor dining area.

VIIP at OYC launches at 520 Shore Drive on Memorial Day weekend. It will be open seven days a week with live music scheduled each day.

I have to say I had an amazing experience this past weekend! The view was amazing, food was delicious, & my server Samantha was very knowledgeable and such a sweetheart!

Absolutely love Oakdale Yacht Club. Great people great music and great food! The staff always greet you with a smile on their fac . Matt is especially attentive to my husband and myself. Thank you all for making our daily experiences extra special.

It was my first time dining at OYC. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and quick service. Samantha was our waitress and was both knowledgeable and friendly which made our experience one to remember. We will be coming back before the summer is over!

Food is good and the experience was wonderful. Our waitress Samantha is the best..... so helpful and friendly!

As a member, you will have our community, clubhouse and marina to enjoy. Oakland Yacht Club Members also enjoy a vibrant, active community that features:

The Oakland Yacht Club is a member-owned organization. As owner-members, you can participate in the function and leadership of the Club and its facilities. We have a superb professional staff including the General Manager, Office Manager, Harbor Master and the Executive Chef. However, the corporation is directed by a Board, and led by our Flag Officers. Member committees manage the House and Marina and infuse new ideas into the future direction of the club. As a member, you are welcome to participate in these committees, or throw your hat in the ring for a Flag Position.

Joining OYC is really easy! If you're ready now, you can just complete an application online listed below under the "Interested In Membership" section or print a copy of the application form. You can come by Club office (open Tues-Sat 9-6 / Sunday 10-5) for a copy. The office staff will be glad to help or give you a tour. Two current regular members must sponsor your application, and the membership committee will help with that, if you don't already know someone. Your application gets posted for 14 days and then brought to a vote at the next meeting of the Board of Directors. That's it! During your application process, the Club's General Manager will help you to plan on bringing your boat into our harbor, if applicable. If you are interested in learning more about membership at the Oakland Yacht Club, please complete the membership inquiry form and someone for the membership committee will contact you about joining the Oakland Yacht Club.
