2015 Windrider 17 This Windrider was built in 2015 but not commissioned until 2018.The Windrider 17 is a small trimaran sailboat with foot pedal steering, for up to four people. It was designed by well-known multihull sailboat designer Jim Brown. Road trailer included.
Accommodation
This is no ordinary Windrider 17 “Emoji Happy” has every conceivable fitted extra and bespoke extras fitted too. New she would cost you over £26k. She has an upgraded rig and an upgraded sale plan making her incredibly fast, I have personally achieved 21 knots SOG, she is completely safe and very stable I've been caught out in a good force 6 going 7 with rolling waves behind me and not once did she attempt to broach, We simply surfed the waves absolutely incredible. I have to say that this trimaran is the most exhilarating sail I have ever experienced in my 40 years of sailing. A removable additional seat also means that you can be joined by a crew member, using a autotiller means you can exit the cockpit lay out on the trampolines or do a bit of fishing as you sail along. That coupled with the freedom of a trailer sailing, beaching her where you want and sleeping undercover in the main hull has made from some amazing adventures and memories, I'll be very sorry to see her go.
Constructed from durable white rotationally moulded polyethylene, the Windrider 17 will give you and your family years of sailing. Quick and easy to setup and launch, the WR17 is fun for you and your family, or just to idle around by yourself. Owned by the current owner for the last 2 years, owner is selling as he has purchased larger yacht.

Slab reefing mainsail with furling headsail. Aluminium mast and boom, stainless steel standing rigging, Terylene running rigging, manual backstay adjuster, mast raising and lowering system, all 2015.

Comparing the WindRider 17 to the Weta Trimaran
Comparing the weta trimaran to the windrider 17 trimaran.
We frequently get asked how the WindRider 17 compares to Weta Trimaran, so we decided to make this page to explain how they are similar and dissimilar. We also want to give some of the positives of each boat
Similarities:
1. Both day sailors
2. Both small trimarans (very stable)
That is where the similarities between the two boats end. The WindRider 17 was designed to be a pleasure sailor for anyone to use, whereas the Weta was designed to be a racing sailboat that that was more stable than a small catamaran.
WindRider 17:
1. Rotomolded. This allows the WindRider 17 Trimaran to be used anywhere, anyhow without concern of damaging the hull.
2. Capacity. The WindRider 17 can carry up to 6 people, while Weta is limited to 3.
4. Dryer boat. The trampoline design and bow design ensure that the waves break beneath you, not on you. No need for a dry suit to sail this trimaran.
5. Motor mount option. While heretical to some, a motor can be a godsend when the winds die, when a storm is coming or when the current and wind and everything else are working against you.
6. Versatility. The WindRider 17 has more options, more cargo space, so choose the type of sailing you want to do. Then do it.
7. Price. The base price of the WindRider trimaran is less than that of the Weta.
Weta Trimaran:
1. One class design. Weta has a strong base of racing fleets across the world for those people interested in racing trimarans. If you are looking to race, and looking for a small trimaran, this is a great option.
2. Carbon fiber. The use of carbon fiber for the mast and akas helps lighten the boat.
3. Very compact design. When disassembled, the boat is only 14ft long and 5.5ft wide. This makes it great for people that have very little area for storage.
4. Speed. With 3 sails standard the Weta will be faster on the water than the WindRider.
If you are looking for a boat to race, then the Weta is the better option. However, if you just want more versatility at a lower price point, then the WindRider is your best option.

Windrider 16 Trimaran
Here we have my Windrider 16 Trimaran, I have owned it for 6 years, of which the last 3 I have had it at Newquay Sailing Club and stored it there. Membership and storage is around £135 a year if your interested. I have sailed it up to Mawgan Porth and round to Crantock in a tide. Great for taking your mates out on as it has trampolines which I have but are not pictured. I used to stick the kids on it.
Ideal for Coastal Crusing, fishing and free diving from. I have not used it much over last couple of years as I have been restoring a Catamaran up in Wales which is also for sale, check my listing. Comes with a launch trailer whith two brand new wheels. There was a crack in front which had polyurethane repair and is water tight, there is also fire damage to cockpit rim, I have an enclosure that goes over that so you can’t see it once fitted. It also has a spray shield which I never used.
Sail in reasonable condition. Have a google and a YouTube to see what they can do. I’m only selling as I need a van to convert into a day van my familay of 7. So if you have a van I would be willing to PX and add money if I had to for right van.

A trimaran is a type of multihull sailboat with three individual hulls, consisting of the main central hull and the two smaller outrigger hulls.
Modern trimarans look futuristic with their sharp hulls design and racing rigs, but the first trimarans were built by indigenous Polynesians and other Pacific islanders almost 4,000 years ago.
