Lagoon, which just had the premiere of its Seventy 7 catamaran at the Cannes Yachting Festival in early September, has announced plans for a Seventy 8 power catamaran that will debut in 2017.

The Lagoon Seventy 8 is the motoryacht version of the Lagoon Seventy 7. She will have a length overall of 78 feet 1 inch, with a beam of 36 feet 1 inch. Exterior design is by Patrick le Quément with interiors by Nauta Design.

NICOLAS ZINGGREBE | CAPTAIN | GERMAN EXPERIENCE: I started off my career on a 40mts yacht as first officer where I was able to form myself in all aspects of a vessel, from maintenance and upkeep to management and admin. During my time on board, we cruised the Balearic area extensively as well as south of France, Monaco and the Genoa golf (up to Porto Fino). After three seasons on board I decided it was time for me to take the leap and become Captain, and I was able to do so on a 56ft Azimut charter vessel, my first season long command. During the same season I spent two months in Italy (Amalfi coast) on board a 64ft Sirena that was part of the same fleet. After an intense season on board the Azimut and Sirena I was able to join a Princess 68ft, taking her from a bare bone vessel to fully charter ready one and went on to spend three seasons on board operating exclusively around the Balearic Islands as a private/chaters vessel. I’m now proudly the new captain on board SÁSTA, a 78ft lagoon power catamaran. HOBBIES: CrossFit, diving, snowboarding, longboarding, tinkering with cars. SIETE MARES spends the summer and winter season in US Virgin Islands. She was constructed by the ship builder Lagoon in 2024. The spacious yacht layout features 4 cozy cabins and comfortably accommodates a group of 8 guests.

SIETE MARES is classified primarily as a power catamaran. The central space of the yacht is the main saloon, which connects to the aft deck. The aft deck is where heart of the yacht is and that's where the guests spend most of their time. The fascinating cabins are located in the 2 massive hulls. The cabins offer unbeatable views in the morning and are located just below deck. Multiple portholes provide a connection with the natural world outside.

I bought a yacht that I had never seen. I did this because I trusted my broker Andrew Holland. It was not an easy job for Andrew, as I am an experienced boat builder and owner of previous yachts, but work in West Africa. Imagine how hard it was to communicate what I was looking for. Andrew came up with exactly what I wanted. He dealt with time delays, all my questions at odd hours, and was there for the survey. He reported honestly and professionally. After buying the yacht, I arrived at the boat on a Sunday night, after dark, after travelling from West Africa to the Caribbean, and found it was better than expected. He never pulled punches and made me aware of shortfalls. I expected to spend my one month leave working on the boat, but actually spent less than one week, and was able to spend 3 weeks sailing – wonderful bonus.
