The online yacht auction marketplace.

Boathouse Auctions is a time-certain online yacht auction platform that connects prequalified buyers with motivated sellers. Our approach combines the benefits of traditional brokerage with the added value of time certainty and the competition and urgency created by an auction.

Brands We've Worked With

logo_1c_HinckleyYachts

Recognizing the limitations of the traditional yacht resale model, we built a platform that provides an alternative approach. Introducing the first and only fully-integrated online boat auction platform designed to remove friction in the sales process for yacht buyers and sellers.

The future of yacht buying is here

Boathouse Auctions provides attractive opportunities for buyers able to act with urgency. By streamlining the traditional sales approach, buyers name their price at the click of a button from our curated inventory of motor yachts and sailboats from motivated sellers around the world.

A deliberately different approach to yacht sales

When selling a luxury yacht, not only do sellers get frustrated and fatigued, but time is real money. Days on market are costly. Too often in the traditional model, ‘days’ turn into years which in turn begins the slippery slope of price reductions.

Boathouse Auctions was built as a solution to the costly problem of time. We work with sellers to eliminate costs by bringing buyers together, at the same time, to accomplish in weeks what otherwise can simply take too many months or years. By aggregating competition, our approach creates a sense of urgency and an accelerated sale of your yacht.

Testimonials

Don’t just take our word for it.

I recently used Boathouse Auctions to sell my 50′ Sport Yacht. A unique boat that had proved difficult to move. I found Jack and his people to be among the most professional and efficient people I have dealt with over my 40 year career in the boating industry. Excellent communications, advice, and execution.

50' Maverick 2022

My experience with Boathouse Auctions was excellent. The process went smoothly with very good communication along the way. The auction really sought to get the best price for my yacht. Such good organization and process. I highly recommend Boathouse Auctions.

77’ Goetz Carbon Sloop 2013

My decision to bring Boathouse Auctions into the traditional yacht marketing program was a great one. In less than 5 weeks, we had over 35 prospects, multiple bidders, and a deadline that created a sense of urgency that helped us quickly close the sale of our yacht at a price we were very pleased with.

44' Little Harbor Whisperjet 1999

Pacific Provider was on the market for quite some time. We recently reduced the price significantly but still this generated little solid interest. Engaging Boathouse Auctions was a key strategic decision. It shifted leverage from the buyers to the seller as it created a deadline and a sense of urgency. We received multiple pre-auction offers and sold Pacific Provider prior to the auction.

157' Blount Marine 1978

As a seller, the lack of a pending event plus the extended due diligence a buyer requires creates a buyer-advantaged process. Boathouse Auctions has successfully and politely modified the approach to bring this archaic process into the 21st century. I am thrilled with the result.

75' Molokai Strait 2006

As the carrying costs of larger yachts can be significant, days on market are costly. By offering Altitude Adjustment II through Boathouse Auctions, the finite timeline of the auction process serves as a motivation to prospective buyers and as an asset to owners in terms of time and cost savings.

106' Broward 2006

I praise Boathouse Auctions for leading me to the successful close of the boat I’d never before considered.

58' Vicem 2004

Is a Sailing Yacht Right for You?

If you’re looking for the spirit of adventure and exploration of vibrant destinations, a sailing yacht might be right for you. Sailing yachts offer you the flexibility to enjoy exotic adventures in extraordinary accommodations.

Sailing yachts offer lower-tech construction methods that can be less expensive. Their motion comfort is superb, with smooth hull sections that lend to clean cruising. They also tack easily, with a mix of weight from a homogeneous mass and a pivotable keel.

2024 Lagoon 43 flybridge sailing catamaran revealed

All-new lagoon 43 features a semi-flybridge deck and easy dockside access.

French luxury catamaran group Lagoon has revealed the Lagoon 43, an all-new replacement for one of the best-selling models in the brand’s history.

The new Lagoon 43 will replace the Lagoon 42, a model responsible for more than 1000 sales worldwide.

Due for a European launch later this year, and an Australian market introduction in 2025, the Lagoon 43 features a semi-flybridge built into the trailing edge of the coachroof that introduces roof-level seating and a sun lounge.

The design allows the boom to sit lower than if the catamaran was designed with a traditional full flybridge as well as making the mainsail and jib/genoa easily visible from the raised, but still well-protected, helm position.

All the lines lead to winches located on the forward part of the semi-raised helm station, allowing for short-handed sail control.

Another feature to set this catamaran apart from the crowd is a special aft entryway built into the coaming of each hull.

The design provides a step-through space to enter or leave the Lagoon 43 via the aft cockpit space, as well as load or unload luggage or provisions. The void can be closed off using a pair of rail inserts.

The saloon features a forward galley, with the aft space taken up by a large table for up to 12 people that extends from inside to the open air of the cockpit, sheltered by the extended hardtop above. The saloon space offers all-around water views.

Forward, the Lagoon 43 features a large lounge space with three sunbeds and a central couch with a coffee table.

Key to the new Lagoon 43’s design are more generous interior volumes that have extended to the cabins. The owner’s cabin features a forward berth with an ensuite head and shower located aft similar, Lagoon says, to much larger yachts.

If the Lagoon 43 is to regularly have more guests onboard – think charter operations – two cabins in a mirror image of the starboard twin-cabin setup can replace the owner’s cabin.

Lagoon’s range of catamarans is sold in Australia via TMG Yachts .

Specifications Model: Lagoon 43 Length overall: 13.92m Beam: 7.69m Draft: 1.4m Mast clearance: 19.94m Weight: 13,319kg (light) Sail area: 68m 2 (square-topped main)/37m 2 (genoa) Engines: 2x57hp Fuel: 570L Water: 300L Berths: 6-13 Passengers: 12

Swan 88 Dream Catcher

The Swan 88 is the entry-level model in Nautor’s six-strong Maxi series . Christened Dream Catcher , the newly launched 87-footer exudes Nautor’s instantly recognizable sleek aesthetic, with naval architecture by long-time collaborator German Frers, exterior styling by Micheletti + Partners, and interiors by Misa Poggi. The newcomer’s green tech distinguishes it from other Swans, though.

The hybrid-electric propulsion system, developed in partnership with German outfit Torqeedo, uses less fuel than conventional diesel-only setups. As such, the yacht is cheaper to run and cleaner on the seas than traditional competitors. Furthermore, the Swan 88’s moderate draught fin T-keel of 13 feet and twin rudders ensure agility, balance, and safety while sailing. Nautor says the hybrid is particularly suited to chartering, with proportions that meet the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) regulations. By chartering the yacht, owners can further reduce running costs.

Swan 88 on the water

Heading inside, the light and airy living quarters are equipped with four generous guest cabins and one plush owner’s suite that can collectively sleep up to 10 guests. The crew area also offers space for up to four crew members.

“This important new model, of which we will launch the second unit in a few days, represents Swan’s 360-degree essence, the DNA that for 58 years has made our boats recognizable worldwide, and we are very proud of it,” adds Pomati.

Dream Catcher will debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival (September 10 to 15) and Monaco Yacht Show (September 25 to 28).

Joe Lewis’ $250 million superyacht, ranked among the world’s 25-most valuable, sets sail after he pays US fine

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club owner Joe Lewis

Joe Lewis’ superyacht is on the move again after spending most of the past year holed up in a Mediterranean port while the British billionaire faced insider-trading charges in the US.

His 322-foot (98-meter) Aviva — which he put up as collateral for bail —  has traveled more than 400 nautical miles from Malta to cities along Albania’s coast as well as the Greek island of Zakynthos since  he was sentenced  April 4 to three years probation, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

After departing Zakynthos earlier this week, the Tavistock Group founder’s yacht was near Kalamata in southern Greece on Thursday morning local time, the data show. It’s the most the roughly $250 million vessel has traveled in about seven months, though it’s unclear if Lewis is on board.

Lewis, 87, pledged his yacht along with his private jet to secure his release following his arrest in July. A few months later, Aviva docked until April 5 in the Maltese capital of Valletta, where it can cost as much as €750 ($800) a night to moor vessels that exceed 75 meters.

Lewis, who was scheduled to have eye surgery in London recently, was prohibited from setting foot on the yacht that has long served as part-residence, part-office while awaiting trial. He was only allowed on board after paying a $5 million fine after sentencing, which he settled soon after the verdict in Manhattan.

A representative for Lewis, who has a net worth of about $7.3 billion according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, declined to comment.

Lewis, whose global empire includes five-star hotels, private lenders and enclaves for the wealthy, launched Aviva in 2017. It includes eight guest suites, a helipad, padel tennis court, spa and a cinema. It ranked among the world’s 25-most valuable superyachts shortly after its launch, alongside those owned by Middle Eastern royals.

The yacht has also displayed works from Lewis’ private art collection, which is valued at more than $1 billion and includes pieces by Picasso, Freud, Klimt and Degas.

Events that authorities say took place on the yacht were a key piece of evidence that prosecutors used against him.

At dinner one night in September 2019, the billionaire received favorable news about Mirati Therapeutics Inc., an oncology company where he was a major investor, leading him to pass along the tip to a host of people, including the pilots of his private jet, according to US regulators.

Those pilots — Bryan “Marty” Waugh and Patrick O’Connor — were also charged with trading on inside information. O’Connor pleaded guilty to securities fraud and conspiracy and is due to be sentenced in May, while Waugh is fighting the charges.

'Access to hidden-gem ports': Why this luxury yacht is the best option for beach lovers

“This is your yacht, to do with as you please,” Captain Rob O’Leary said to guests of the Emerald Sakara , the second luxury superyacht from Emerald Cruises. “We have an international crew from 21 different nations, and we are all here for you.”

I was on the maiden voyage of the 360-foot Sakara, a December 2023 sailing with the added glamor of a Champagne christening in San Juan, Puerto Rico, led by the ship’s godmother Kelly Craighead. She is president of Cruise Lines International Association, the industry’s leading trade organization.

“Sakara” is a Sanskrit word meaning “thoughts become things” – a fitting name, given the thought that went into the ship’s chic design.  And our itinerary for the week couldn’t be more yacht-like – an island-hopping experience in the West Indies, stopping in out-of-the-way ports that larger cruise ships can’t manage. And while some smaller boats can feel rocky, the Sakara’s stabilizers keep the ship on an even keel.

Are luxury cruise ships worth the money? We did the math for Silversea's Silver Nova.

With just 100 guests and 76 crew, the Sakara is part of the larger trend in cruising: smaller ships that cater to vacationers who want the style and feel of a yacht, and the intimate service that accompanies that, with the amenities of a larger ship. Craighead said that small-ship cruises offer “luxury at a great value, access to hidden-gem ports and unique features like marinas for water activities directly off the ship,” she says. “These small ships can even be chartered, for your own amazing, private yacht experience.”

After departing from San Juan, the Sakara reached the Puerto Rican island of Culebra in a few hours, just 20 miles off the coast. We hopped in a taxi van at the port to reach the pristine waters of Flamenco Beach, which consistently makes the world’s top 10 lists. It was a fall-asleep-on-the-sand kind of day, under brightly colored umbrellas, with multiple trips to the canteen for French fries.

“I hope you enjoyed Culebra today because it’s quite hard to get in, through a very narrow channel,” O’Leary said at a supper-hour briefing.

The next day, we stopped at the nearby island of Vieques, which is filled with wild horses – about 2,000 of them – most of whom are fully accustomed to the photo op. We docked at Esperanza Bay and wandered the waterfront. There were jeeps or ATVs available to rent for those who wanted to beach-hop, but we settled into the sand at Sun Bay. And when we sailed into Cruz Bay on the U.S. Virgin Island of St. John the following day, there were yachts and catamarans everywhere – and the Sakara fit right in.

The crew outdid itself the next day at White Bay Beach on Jost Van Dyke, the smallest of the British Virgin Islands. A barbecue feast awaited us, along with beach loungers, steel-drum entertainment, and all the paddles and water toys from the ship. Later, we wandered down the beach to find a young yacht crowd, groups of friends who have rented their boats, all knee-deep in their mojitos.

“I get a real kick out of driving the Emerald Sakara into St. Barths, muscling in and anchoring next to all the other superyachts,” O’Leary said. “It looks good in the pictures.” A stop there brought a snorkeling excursion, a bit of high-end shopping and a few rosé-soaked hours on Plage de Saline.

Back on board, the creature comforts of the Sakara included plenty of outdoor space to connect with the ocean, a small infinity pool, a full-service spa and a large, elegant dining room and terrace. It’s all part of the cushy yacht lifestyle.

The ship will spend the summer and fall cruising the Mediterranean Sea – heading for the French and Italian rivieras, Croatia and Greece – with eight-day itineraries from $5,100. The Emerald Sakara will be back in the Caribbean next December, with eight-day cruises starting at $4,100.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

sail yacht auction

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

Gaza aid flotilla plans to challenge Israeli blockade, organizers say

ISTANBUL — A flotilla of ships bound for the Gaza Strip is preparing to sail from Turkey in the coming days, organizers say, on a mission aimed at breaching Israel’s naval blockade and highlighting the lack of aid reaching Palestinians in the besieged enclave.

The organizers, gathered under the banner of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, have participated in similar missions for years, an effort that gained worldwide attention in 2010 after an Israeli raid on a flotilla that included a Turkish ship , the Mavi Marmara, killed 10 people and sparked a diplomatic crisis between Turkey and Israel.

But the flotilla’s well-traveled route — the Mediterranean — has gained new relevance during the current conflict as governments and relief organizations alike turn to sea deliveries to circumvent what aid groups say is Israel’s persistent obstruction of deliveries to Gaza over land.

The latest flotilla mission, which will include a cargo ship carrying more than 5,000 tons of aid, comes as global attention on Gaza’s worsening humanitarian crisis has waned, shifting to the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran. Apparent Turkish sensitivities over whether to allow the ships to depart have caused organizers to hedge on when exactly the voyage, which was scheduled to begin Sunday, would get underway.

The regional dynamics are “challenging,” Ann Wright, one of the flotilla organizers, said in a phone interview last week from Istanbul, where activists planning to join the maritime convoy were gathering. The mission is also at the “mercy of the port authorities” in Turkey, said Wright, a retired U.S. diplomat and former Army colonel who resigned from her State Department position in opposition to the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.

“The ships are ready,” she said.

At a news conference Friday aboard one of the ships, Huwaida Arraf, a Palestinian American human rights attorney who has joined previous flotillas to Gaza, said, “Our governments have thus far done nothing but we call on them to start now, to uphold their own obligations under international law, to demand that Israel allow the flotilla safe passage to Gaza.

“We expect that Turkey will not be bought off and we will indeed sail,” she said. “Anything less than this is collaborating with the illegal siege on Gaza, and we don’t think that is what the Turkish government will do.”

The Israeli military did not immediately respond to a request to comment on the flotilla’s mission. Israeli channel N12 reported Saturday that “security preparations” had begun, including for taking over the flotilla. One of the groups participating in the voyage — a Turkish Islamic charity organization, IHH — is designated as a terrorist group by Israel. The group has denied links to terrorism.

Israel has argued for years that the naval blockade is justified to prevent weapons from reaching Hamas and other militant groups in Gaza — a policy that Arraf said was part of Israel’s “hermetic closure” of the territory that amounted to collective punishment of its population, and a war crime.

A report by a U.N. panel on the May 2010 Israeli raid called the naval blockade a “legitimate security measure,” but said that Israel’s boarding of the vessels “with such substantial force at a great distance from the blockade zone” was “excessive and unreasonable.”

Since October, Israel’s hindrance of aid deliveries by land, as well its attacks on relief organizations, have helped fuel a humanitarian crisis that has caused northern Gaza to slide into famine, according to aid officials and human rights groups.

The killing of seven World Central Kitchen workers by Israeli forces on April 1 highlighted the dangerous environment in which relief agencies operate. In the aftermath, the Biden administration warned Israel to swiftly address civilian suffering in Gaza or risk future U.S. support.

“This is a completely man-made and preventable situation,” Andrea De Domenico, the head of the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the occupied Palestinian territory, said during a press briefing last week. “I think there has been a lot of effort from our side and the Israeli side to some extent to increase the volume of aid that is going to the north,” he said, while adding that significant obstacles remained.

In a six-day period this month, “41 percent of our requests for operations in the north have been denied,” he said. For Gaza’s residents, “every day is literally a struggle to survive.”

In March, President Biden announced a plan to establish a maritime aid corridor to Gaza, shortly after the United States joined other countries in dropping relief supplies by air on the enclave. Humanitarian officials said that while any additional deliveries were welcome, they were no substitute for aid delivered by trucks.

Wright said the flotilla would include a cargo ship carrying food packages, water, ambulances and medical supplies including anesthesia. “We are trying to stop the starvation,” she said. “It’s not nearly enough. It will make a dent,” she said.

Flotilla participants were conducting nonviolence training last week, in advance of the scheduled departure, she said. “We hope that we can get into Gaza,” Wright said. But they were preparing for the myriad ways they could be turned back.

Many of the governments in the region had participated in stymieing previous Gaza missions, including Greece, which stopped boats from departing in 2011. The United States had warned its citizens not to participate in the missions, and offered “very little assistance” when American activists on the flotillas were detained and then deported by Israel, she said.

If the current mission got underway, they were possibly facing an “armada,” she said, with U.S. warships stationed in the waters off Israel.

Mustafa Ozbek, the media coordinator for IHH, said the organizers had notified the Turkish government, the United Nations and other international institutions about the mission.

Dylan Saba, a 31-year-old writer and attorney who was planning to travel with the flotilla, said he was joining in part because “there is an obligation for citizens of the world to act, where governments have failed, and to act in the spirit of international law.”

As a Palestinian whose father was born in Gaza, he said there was a “lot of symbolic value in being able to accompany this aid that we are attempting to deliver, not just to my distant family members who are living there, but all of the Palestinians of Gaza.”

“I feel very confident that this is the right thing for me to do,” he said. “But I would be lying to you if I said that I was not scared.”

Alon Rom in Tel Aviv contributed to this report.

Israel-Gaza war

The Israel-Gaza war has gone on for six months, and tensions have spilled into the surrounding region .

The war: On Oct. 7, Hamas militants launched an unprecedented cross-border attack on Israel that included the taking of civilian hostages at a music festival . (See photos and videos of how the deadly assault unfolded ). Israel declared war on Hamas in response, launching a ground invasion that fueled the biggest displacement in the region since Israel’s creation in 1948 .

Gaza crisis: In the Gaza Strip, Israel has waged one of this century’s most destructive wars , killing tens of thousands and plunging at least half of the population into “ famine-like conditions. ” For months, Israel has resisted pressure from Western allies to allow more humanitarian aid into the enclave .

U.S. involvement: Despite tensions between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and some U.S. politicians , including President Biden, the United States supports Israel with weapons , funds aid packages , and has vetoed or abstained from the United Nations’ cease-fire resolutions.

History: The roots of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and mistrust are deep and complex, predating the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948 . Read more on the history of the Gaza Strip .
