SATORI Specifications

The accommodation layout includes one full beam master stateroom with comfortable sofas, a study and a fantastic bathroom spreading the entire width of the yacht. The bathroom offers his and hers sinks and a huge hammam/steam show, as well as a stunning walnut tub. Large his and hers wardrobes have been fitted to comfortably accommodate all owners’ belongings. One of the interesting aspects of the master stateroom is the possibility to convert it into a spa, a massage room or a gymnasium cabin with an en-suite bathroom.

There are additional four guest cabins with large wardrobe space and lovely marble en-suite showrooms. There is smart entertainment system installed in all guest cabins, intercom phones, refrigerators, safes and the beds have been fitted with very comfortable orthopedic mattresses.

Entertainment isn’t just limited to the cabins, with water toys and sports on-board including jet skis, canoes, ringoes, seabobs, wakeboards, an optimist sailor, McClaren GoCycles, snorkels and a jet tender all at the guests disposal. With a crew area carefully designed to provide air-conditioned cabins for up to nine staff, on-board hospitality is comprehensive, ensuring that if a number of the crew are hosting an excursion or assisting with water toys, there will always be full service capacity on deck. The 28.5m/93'6" motor yacht 'Satori' (ex. Christine) was built by Horizon in Taiwan and she was delivered to her owner in August 2016. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of John Lindblom.

Satori has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 8 guests in 4 suites comprising one VIP cabin. She is also capable of carrying up to 4 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Range & Performance

Built with a GRP hull and GRP superstructure, with teak decks, she has impressive speed and great efficiency thanks to her planing hull. Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C-32A) 1,800hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 20 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 24 knots. Her low draft of 1.63m/5'4" makes her primed for accessing shallow areas and cruising close to the shorelines. Her water tanks store around 1,900 Litres of fresh water.

Inspired by the 1920's and 1930's, Satori offers timeless elegance to the 10 guests that are lucky enough to embark on her for a crewed yacht charter. Satori has 5 large, luxury cabins and 1 that can be converted into a spa room on request. Each room is spacious and luxurious, resulting in guests feeling they are in a 5 star hotel opposed to a yacht! The saloon and dinning area are large yet have a warm and welcoming feel. They provide the perfect area to relax in out of the sun.

Outside, Satori's front deck has an open air cinema, with a fold-away cinema screen and a large sun-bed for guests to enjoy with family and friends. The top deck, provides more sunbathing opportunities but this time with stunning views out of the yacht.

Main features

WEEKLY CHARTER RATE: €105,000 + VAT + APA

Summer 2023 Operating Areas: Albania, Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Catalonia, Corsica, Costa del Sol, Croatia, Cyprus, French Riviera & Monaco, Greece - Aegean/Cyclades Sea, Greece - Ionian Sea, Italy - North (mainland), Italy - Sardinia, Italy - Sicily, Italy - South (mainland), Malta, Montenegro, Portugal, Provence Coast & Marseille, Slovenia, Turkey, Venice

APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance): APA is an estimate (usually 30% of the charter rate) paid with the balance for covering running costs during the charter (food, drinks, fuel, mooring fees, and anything else that guests might need while on charter). Final accounts will be produced by the Captain at the end of the charter and any unused funds will be refunded in full to the Charterer directly. If the funds are not sufficient, the Captain will advise the Charterer accordingly and bills will be settled upon disembarkation.

Crew Gratuity: Although discretionary, a crew gratuity of 20% of the charter fee is customary.

CYBA/MYBA terms will apply.

Payment conditions: 50% of the charter rate within 7 days of signing the charter agreement, remaining 50% plus VAT plus APA, at least 5 weeks before the beginning of the charter.

Captain Ali Aker Captain Ali has virtually lived all his life in connection with the sea. As a child he helped fishermen and during his teens he would free dive without oxygen bottles reaching up to 35 m in depth to spear fish while working in restaurants at nights. When he turned 15, he worked on charter yachts in Bodrum as a deckhand for the first six years and from the age of 21 he worked as a chef. At 26 he passed the captain’s exam and began working as a captain on 22 to 24m charter yachts. Eight years ago, Captain Ali began working on the Satori project. He was involved during the build of the yacht and has been her Captain since she was put in the water five years ago. Since then, Ali has done 14 weeks’ worth of charters and has sailed through Italy, the south of France, Corsica, Greece, Turkey, Spain and Majorca giving him an in-depth knowledge of the harbors, blue bays for anchorage, small towns and much more. Ali’s mother tongue is Turkish, but he is also fluent in English. Ali is especially known for his desire to please clients and provide his guests with the best possible experiences based on his in-depth knowledge of Satori as well as her possibilities.

Head Chef: Serdar Elci Serdar, our resident Chef, joined Satori four years ago and has become a very valued team member thanks also to his great experience in some of the best restaurants in Turkey such as GQ (Dream) Istanbul, Cipriani Istanbul, Da Silvano Palma Life Hotel Bodrum, Macakizi Bodrum. He also has extensive experience in international cuisine from his time spent in several restaurants in the US, at The Manor at Bickely in London and at the Borgo Santo Pietro in Italy.

Chief Stewardess: Bianca Salov Bianca is on her second season with Satori. Her background spans from working in restaurants to private villas. During the past six years she has been working at sea on private charters, first as chef, then as solo stewardess and finally as Head Stewardess. With her experience and maturity, she is a great asset to the team and ensures guests are comfortable and well catered for. Bianca is a hard worker and very focused on every client’s happiness on board. Bianca has a warm and friendly smile, is soft spoken and speaks good English.

First Mate : Ugur Bacaci Ugur joined the Satori team during the winter maintenance period of 2020. This is his first summer season with Satori. Ugur has a background education in ship engineering from the Verna Technical University and has matured his onboard experience in the Mediterranean, the Aegean and the Black seas on board gullets, starting as a deck hand and working his way up to First Mate on 42 and 50m yachts.

Each of the eight crew members have been hand-picked for their expertise, whether in navigation and seamanship, gourmet dining or five-star service, while Satori ’s two 600-horsepower engines offer guests the choice of both motoring and taking long-haul voyages as well as enjoying the timeless feeling of classic sailing.

Satori is not just about the design but how it is lived. The yacht’s bespoke design enables guests to relax in intimate seclusion, with various decks offering separate spaces to enjoy shared company or retreat to for a moment of privacy. To maximize the feeling of freedom and privacy on board, the captain’s wheelhouse and crew living and working areas are completely separate from the main guest areas.

A coffee lounge-style area on the aft deck with a second bar, comfy lounge seating and a large covered daybed creates a leisurely social ambience where guests can sip freshly brewed espresso coffee or a glass of wine. Satori ’s front deck is dedicated to cinema and solitude, with a state-of-the-art, fold-away cinema screen and large sunbed to enjoy the heat of the sun and gentle rise and fall of the waves. The top deck offers even more options for private sunbathing, with a row of sunbeds commanding spectacular views over the water, while old-fashioned deckchairs situated mid-deck add to the quintessential feeling of sailing upon the seas.

Satori also features a private wellness cabin fitted with a steam bath that can be converted into an extra guest room. Before sailing, guests can choose how they would like to use the space and arrange to have a personal therapist on board. A sanctuary for the senses, Satori ’s spa facilities enable guests to indulge in a revitalizing treatment or soothing massage, topped off with a relaxing and healthy steam therapy at the end of a long salt- and sun-filled day.

Dining takes centre-stage on Satori , with a professional open-view kitchen, expansive mahogany bar and dining area situated mid-deck, where guests are able to watch their personal chef at work and dine in privacy while in harbor. Managed by chefs from our Michelin-starred restaurants Meo Modo and La Bottega del Buon Caffè , the menu is tailored to local areas en route and ranges from light snacks to gourmet degustations, highlighting the catch of the day.

Guests not only have the chance to observe the open-view kitchen theatre as it unfolds but also become active participants. Satori offers guests the opportunity to indulge their gastronomic passion by taking cooking classes with the chef, using ingredients freshly harvested from the sea or hand-picked from local markets along the coast, drawing their inspiration from the sparkling sea viewed directly from the kitchen bench.

Satori also features an air-conditioned, 250-bottle capacity wine cellar. Guests are invited to store their own wine in the cellar or pair their meals with a selection from Satori’s outstanding collection of boutique wine labels.

Whether navigating the jewel-like coves of the Mediterranean coast or exploring cultural sites on land, each of Satori ’s itineraries and activities are tailor-made according to clients’ wishes. Guests are invited to plan their ideal holiday in collaboration with Satori ’s captain and a five-star concierge service by customizing the sailing route and organizing various activities. This takes place both during the planning process and en route, and may vary depending on prevailing wind and weather conditions.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.
