Frequently Asked Questions

About this offer

I can't find the subscriptions offer I'm looking for.

If the promotion you have seen is still valid but not showing on screen, you can try to change the offer by clicking here .  You will need to enter a specific code you've been sent, which are typically 4 or 5 characters long.

Why does pricing vary from country to country?

All items purchased include the cost of delivery within the price. As the cost of postage can vary quite significantly between different regions and mailing locations, this is reflected in the price.

How do you guarantee lowest prices?

Magazinesdirect.com is owned and run by Future Publishing Limited who publish all the magazines on the site. As such, we can guarantee our prices are lower than you will find elsewhere.

What is a 'rolling subscription'?

A rolling subscription provides continuous service until you choose to cancel. This means that you'll benefit from uninterrupted deliveries and you'll never miss an issue again. If you change your mind, you can cancel the auto-renewal at any time and you'll only receive the remaining issues for which you've already paid.

Can I buy a subscription if I do not live in the UK?

Yes, just make sure you select the relevant country above. All prices include packaging and delivery charges.

Can I buy this item as a gift?

Yes, all products can be delivered to the address of your choosing. The only requirement is that the delivery country must match the country selected when you add something to your basket. You can choose the specific delivery address as part of the checkout process.

How long will it take for my subscription to be delivered?

Estimated delivery dates for the first issue are displayed during the checkout process.  All subsequent issues should be received around the 'on-sale date' of the magazine except for international deliveries where it can take an additional 14 days (for UK based magazines) and 30 days (for US based magazines).

I am missing an issue, what can I do?

You can request a replacement via your subscription management site www.mymagazine.co.uk . Alternatively, please contact our customer services team .

Can I choose my subscription start date?

Yes.  Subscriptions are automatically set to start with the next available issue to be published, but this can be changed (subject to stock) at the basket and checkout steps.  Between October and December each year, we automatically set gift subscriptions to begin in the New Year to avoid spoiling a Christmas surprise, but again this can be changed at the basket and checkout steps if you wish.

How do I download a gift card?

This can be done via the 'thank you' page once you've completed your purchase.  Here you can schedule a card to be sent via email or you can print it out to hand over yourself.  An alternative design is also available for downloading via www.mymagazine.co.uk , where you can also manage other areas of your subscription.

The motorboating lifestyle really appeals to me. We’ll have none of that pleasantly rowing back and forth, no that seems like far too much effort. Instead we’ll cruise the world in our luxurious yet astonishingly speedy home upon the sea, visiting places of great culture, experience opera, theatre and more and afterwards retire to our gently rocking home away from home. Well, a fellow can dream can’t he? Perhaps we’ll work hard, save up our money and some day we’ll be able to afford a tiny, tiny boat with which to sail the high seas. We’ll scurry from port to port, exploring strange new worlds and exotic cultures, seeing amazing vistas and breath-taking panoramas. We’ll become grizzled seamen, sporting full beards and able to live for a month off only a solitary albatross. We’ll know the in-and-outs of sailing backwards and forwards and upside down. Until, inevitably, a great big wave comes along and sweeps us down to the very bottom of the sea. But it won’t matter, we’ll have escaped the rat race and lived an adventurous, fulfilling life. Hold on. What do you mean that the vast majority of people who own these are already incredibly rich and can afford pretty much whatever they want? Well I must say, that makes my dream feel a little less worthwhile. NB

Time for a bigger boat? Check out what the Palm Beach International Boat Show has to offer

motor boat and yachting subscription

Whether you're the son of a son of a sailor or even just love that song and want to know more, the granddaddy of all boating events is happening this weekend along the West Palm Beach waterfront.

That's right, the Palm Beach International Boat Show is back for four glorious days along Flagler Drive.

This will be the 42nd annual event, and organizers promise it will be bigger and better than ever.

There will be $1.2 billion worth of Bond-worthy super yachts, cruisers, sportfishing boats, center consoles and even inflatables to see and tour, along with attractions and activities highlighting the latest in boat engines, motors and accessories. There will also be the latest fishing gear and even fishing seminars.

Yes, it's a big event, but don't be intimidated. In fact, here are seven fun facts about the show:

How many boats can this boat show boast?

There will be more than 800 boats on display along the floating docks in the Intracoastal Waterway.

More: Best downtown West Palm Beach restaurants to try during Palm Beach International Boat Show

What is the biggest boat at the boat show?

With a length of 236 feet (and 38 feet wide), Casino Royale takes the title for largest boat this year. This gorgeous yacht, designed for her exterior lines by Francesco Paszkowski with interior by Paszkowski’s interior lead designer Margherita Casprini, is also one of the most technically advanced yachts in her category. Casino Royale is powered by twin Caterpillar 3516B main engines and has an impressive top speed of 17.5 knots. You can put your checkbooks away for this one, however, as she is only on display and not for sale.

This boat is the boat show's most epensive

Built in 2022 and 196-feet long, Come Together is listed for $59,950,000. This expedition yacht was delivered by the Dutch shipyard Amels and features interior styling by British designer Winch Design. It can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests in six cabins along with 14 crew members.

Are spectators allowed to go on the boats?

To go onboard the yachts and superyachts, visitors must make an appointment with the brokers. For the smaller boats, however, spectators can come onboard if they are interested in buying.

What is the smallest boat?

The smallest boat being displayed on the water is a runabout boat that is 22-feet-6-inches long, and 5-feet-11 wide. It is manufactured by Hermes.

Eating inside the boat show

The show will have dozens of food concessions featuring almost anything you could be craving, from Greek gyros to woodfired picanha, authentic street tacos and hand-crafted burgers. On a seafood diet? Enjoy fresh stone crab claws, calamari, oysters, and much more! Vegetarian, vegan, and/or gluten-free? No problem; they have options for you as well.

And libations at the boat show?

Of course there will be drinks. To be precise, there will be four bars for general admission guests, including two floating cocktail barges: the Goslings Island Bar and the Anheuser-Busch Barge. In addition there will be multiple bars in the Windward VIP Club.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

motor boat and yachting subscription

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

motor boat and yachting subscription

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

motor boat and yachting subscription

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

motor boat and yachting subscription

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

motor boat and yachting subscription

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

motor boat and yachting subscription

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

motor boat and yachting subscription

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

90m Oceanco superyacht Dar joins market at €208M

The 90-metre Oceanco superyacht Dar has newly joined the market and is listed for sale with Vesa Kaukonen of Large Yacht Corp.

Delivered from Oceanco in the Netherlands in 2018, winning Motor Yacht of the Year at the World Superyacht Awards the following year, Dar was designed by Luiz De Basto with naval architecture by Azure Yacht Design and Naval Architecture . She is scheduled to have maintenance and upgrade work this spring.

The interior is by Nuvolari Lenard and includes accommodation for an owner's party of up to 14 in seven cabins, looked after by a crew of 30. The broker noted that Dar's layout "deviates from contemporary yacht designs", and added that the designers "crafted welcoming interiors that seamlessly connect to the yacht's highly versatile exteriors".

Standout features include an owner's deck – complete with private saloon and Jacuzzi – as well as a wellness area, with hammam, sauna and massage/beauty room, and an impressive beach club.

The upper deck sports a fresh water pool with counter current and the yacht also has a gymnasium with floor-to-ceiling windows. A six-person elevator serves all guest decks.

The 2,926GT yacht for sale is powered by twin MTU diesels giving her a top speed of 20 knots and cruising speed of 13 knots.

Dar is lying in Monaco and her asking price is €208,000,000.

motor boat and yachting subscription

As the weather gets warmer, it could be a good time to rent a boat and enjoy the water.

According to Get My Boat , Texas has several hot spots for boating.

Thinking about getting on a boat soon? Here are 10 locations ranked by Get My Boat:

10 most popular boating locations in Texas

  • Canyon Lake
  • Lewisville
  • Lake Conroe
  • Little Elm
  • Hickory Creek
  • Grand Prairie

Do you need a license to drive a boat in Texas?

According to Texas Parks and Wildlife , anyone born on or after September 1, 1993, must complete boater education training. While it’s not required for those born before that date, it’s recommended to take the training. Completion of this training allows a user to operate a vessel powered by a motor of more than 15 horsepower or a windblown vessel over 14 feet in length.

What are the Texas boating violations?

Texas Parks and Wildlife states that a person guilty of one of the following violations shall be required to successfully complete an approved boater education course and pay a fine.

Those violations are:

  • Any personal watercraft (operating) violation
  • Reckless or negligent operation
  • Excessive speed
  • Reckless operation and excessive speed
  • Hazardous wake or wash
  • Circular course around any swimmer or occupant of a vessel engaged in water activities
  • Interference with markers or ramps
  • Obstructing passage
  • Operating boats in restricted areas
  • Operating vessels in scuba diving or snorkeling areas
  • Skiing during illegal hours
  • Skiing in a manner that endangers life or property

What boating safety equipment is required?

A game warden or marine safety enforcement officers can pull your boat over to see if your boat is in compliance. If you don’t have the required safety equipment, you could get a stiff fine.

In the boat, you must have:

  • Personal floating device for all parties on the boat.
  • Fire extinguisher

Can you have alcohol on the boat?

Open container law does not apply to the passenger area for motorized boating like it does in a vehicle. However, Texas penal code §49.06 mentions that a person who operates a motorized boat while intoxicated has committed an offense.

Can my driver's license be suspended if I'm arrested for operating a boat while intoxicated?

A person's driver's license will be automatically suspended if the arrested person operates a watercraft powered with an engine having a manufacturer's rating of 50 horsepower or above, according to TPWD.

Refusal to provide a breath or blood test can also lead to suspension.

EJET Eco-Friendly Electric Motor & Drivetrain Yacht Tenders: New Model Announced

Boat engineering and design company EJET Electric Yacht Tenders has announced the development of its latest electric motor 9X yacht tender model.

Ljubljana, Slovenia - March 21, 2024 —

Much like their highly acclaimed 4X tender, the upcoming 9X model sports EJET’s proprietary electric motor and drivetrain, going in line with founder Žiga Jarc’s mission of providing sustainable transportation options for yacht owners and guests. Both models will be available in the summer, with the 9X build slated for initial testing in July.

For more information, please visit https://ejet.co/

The announcement follows EJET’s recent appearance at the Boot Düsseldorf Boat Show. Having received the International Boat Industry’s Rising Star Award, the company revealed the development of its larger 9X model with the aim of promoting environmental responsibility within the boating industry.

Designed to be lightweight and compact without sacrificing output or speed, the new tender will be powered by a 220 kWh battery and a 300 kW motor, with an option to upgrade to 340 kW, ensuring 98% efficiency and making it suitable for sports such as water skiing. The boat’s V-shaped hull has been adjusted to accommodate EJET’s custom electric powertrain and is capable of withstanding turbulent waters and inclement weather conditions. Each boat is built with standard hydraulic steering mechanisms, along with the company’s military-grade jet system, allowing for easy maneuvering, reversing, and sudden stops in both low- and high-speed scenarios.

The 9X model will also feature a digital interface, which boaters will be able to use to select different driving modes and dynamics, view real-time GPS navigation and system data, and access the smart audio Bluetooth system. Additionally, amenities such as a hydraulic bathing platform, an electric grill, an ice maker, and a refrigerator will all be available as upgrade options for all 9X tenders.

About EJET Electric Yacht Tenders

Founded in 2016 by Žiga Jarc, EJET began with the goal of developing a zero-emissions electric yacht tender that did not compromise performance or safety. The company has since become a pioneer in electric propulsion systems and remains committed to future innovations in the boating industry. EJET tenders are currently the only products on the market with custom electric drivetrains.

EJET Electric Yacht Tenders, under the leadership of founder Žiga Jarc, is actively engaged in the development of its proprietary electric propulsion technology. The initiative is part of the company's broader commitment to innovation in high-performance, long-range powertrain technology for the marine industry. This effort underscores EJET's focus on delivering solutions characterized by their lightweight and compact design, high power output, and exceptional motor efficiency of up to 98%. With a specific emphasis on extending battery life, the company aims to set new benchmarks for what is achievable in electric propulsion within the boating sector.

“We built the company and the brand on three pillars: driver-centric experience, sustainability with clean electric power, and advanced electric propulsion technology,” says Ziga Jarc. “We cooperate with the best nautical partners to create unforgettable experiences for our customers.”

The operator of the boat clearly wasn’t happy at all, but as a warden doing his job, I didn’t really care.

He had no one to blame but himself for the situation he was in, and as he angrily snatched the summons from my hand, my patience wore thin. I was willing to leave it at that and shove off, but when he followed up with a sarcastic “So, I guess no breaks for a local, huh?”

That was it.

He then spent the next few minutes listening quietly and sheepishly as I delivered a stern counseling session on boating safety. And what exactly had I ruined this gentleman’s beautiful August afternoon over?

A life jacket.

Specifically, it was the lack of a life jacket. Officially known as personal flotation devices, or PFDs, they are required equipment on a boat in Maine.

There were four other souls on the boat: two adults and two young boys. The boys were both wearing PFDs, but none of the adults were. When asked to produce three serviceable life jackets, it was clear the man had no idea where to find them.

After several minutes of disgruntledly searching through every hatch and compartment, he was only able to produce two: both of which were in terrible condition.

I had joined up with another warden to work a boating safety detail, and what caught our eyes from afar initially before the check was a lack of the required registration numbers and current sticker on the boat’s hull.

Naturally, I inquired about this with the man, who said the boat belonged to a family member. He believed the boat was registered, and had no idea why there were no stickers on it. We were later able to verify that the boat was registered.

The excuses continued regarding his inability to readily locate PFDs in the boat, as well as the fact that there weren’t enough on board for each person. I’ll admit, he made quite a theatrical plea for leniency based on ignorance, but given the totality of the circumstance, I wasn’t budging.

The boat was in poor condition, and a potential safety hazard. The man was entirely unfamiliar with it, clearly believed laws and rules were purpose-built to inconvenience him and he didn’t seem to have much experience operating a motor boat.

It was a recipe for disaster and required corrective action beyond a friendly “Ok, just don’t do it again.”

There are numerous Maine boating safety laws, rules and regulations that can be easily found on the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife website. Among them is a law requiring all watercraft to have at least one United States Coast Guard-approved PFD for each person on board.

Furthermore, children 10 years old or under must wear a PDF at all times, unless the boat is docked, anchored or moored. The law is straightforward and easy to understand, yet it is commonly disregarded and blatantly violated.

Basic, safe, legal PFDs can be found in nearly any store that dabbles in sporting goods. I’ve even seen them for sale in grocery stores during the summer for well less than $20. They come in all styles and configurations to accommodate body size, shape and special function.

Though some of the fancier ones can cost up to a few hundred dollars, even most of the cheaper versions satisfy legal requirements and save lives.

While anyone older than 10 isn’t required to wear one, I can’t advocate heavily enough to do so. Things can happen quickly on the water, and people ought not to rely solely on swimming abilities, especially during an emergency situation.

With early ice-outs this spring around the state and open water recreational opportunities just around the corner, it’s time to make sure you’re properly prepared.

Check to make sure you have plenty of PFDs ready to go, and that they are in good serviceable condition. Make sure they are appropriately sized, especially if you plan to have children aboard.

We recently picked up a new wearable life jacket for our 2-year-old, who had outgrown his old one. PFDs are not one-size-fits-all, and it takes very little effort to check the label, which clearly indicates size and appropriate weight ranges for the wearer.

Also, take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with how they fit and secure. The straps on a PFD should be left loose, only to be correctly tightened after the wearer puts it on.

I never really enjoyed writing life jacket tickets, but I recognized the importance of doing so to encourage voluntary compliance with a crucial life-saving law.

Fast forward to a year later on the same pond and in nearly the same spot. The same warden and I motored up to a boat with about a half dozen folks aboard, including our local friend from before: a passenger this time.

Teeth clenched and eyebrows lowered, he silently glared at me during the entire check. Everything was in order, and they even had a surplus of PFDs. As we shoved off, he leaned forward in his chair, pointing his finger at me.

He growled “I remember YOU!”

I smiled and waved. “Yes, sir. I remember you too. Have fun, and enjoy your day.”
