Enjoy a private cruise aboard a modern performance sailing catamaran in the waters surrounding COrpus Christi

Groups up to six get the whole yacht to themselves.

Bring your own drinks snacks, small coolers and lots of sunscreen. We also provide water and an ice chest stocked with ice for guests.

We offer 2-hour and Half-Day sailing trips for up to 6 people We always see lots of dolphins!

“ Captain Miles” was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Tx. He is the son of local mariner Ben L. Herndon Jr, and Grandson to another well respected native, Captain Ben L. Herndon Sr., whom owned and operated the first tour ship in Corpus Christi “The Gulf Clipper”, and was a proprietor of “Gulf King Seafood, and Herndon Marine Products. It’s no surprise that Captain Miles Herndon spent the majority of his life on the waters of Corpus Christi bay, the Laguna Madre, and the Gulf of Mexico. Do you want the flexibility of owning your own sailboat without the perceived hassle of owning? Do you want the ability to come down to the boat and have it clean and ready to go? Do you like the idea of letting someone else take care of all that other boat stuff? Do you love to sail and want the most sailing with no hassel? If you answered yes to any of these questions, the Texas Sailing Sailboat Leasing Program is for you. Leasing a high quality Beneteau or Precision Sailing Yacht from Texas Sailing is the best deal on the water. An 18' to 37' sailboat can be leased for less than a monthly boat payment (based on standard financing). As a Texas Sailng sailboat lessee, you are eligible for the following benefits: All the benefits of a Texas Sailing Club Member  plus: Ability to pre schedule 15 days of sailing per quarter (note that's more than one day a week, up to 60 days per year!) on your leased boat. Unlimited day of departure bookings (charters booked the same day of you departure do not count toward your scheduled days).  A maximum of three lessees will be placed on any one boat, insuring everyone gets all the sailing they want to.  No long term contracts. We are located in one of the most challenging sailing areas in the USA. We are serious about safety afloat. Corpus is one of the windiest coastal cities in the USA. In addition the 4th busiest Port in the USA by tonnage. With our consistently moderate winds you'll gain practical experience in handling them. The advanced classes will; plan a trip, Navigate, check weather, make all preparations to get underway, negotiate with commercial ship traffic and, make another port. Then plan the return trip to Corpus Christi the following day, (WX and tides permitting !).

Our schedule has been posted through April for enrollment.

As an ASA affiliate our function is to teach you how to sail. With that objective in mind we have modified our classes. we've added an extra day to the Basic Keelboat and the Fast Track classes. We've learned over the nearly 20 years of teaching that the extra day gives the students an opportunity to actually use the skills they have been taught. They are in charge, we just keep them out of trouble. The difference in the student's confidence level is extraordinary. Corpus Christi Bay covers 192 square miles and unlike other bays in Texas, is primarily open water with few spoil areas. When taking a class you will have practical experience with Aids To Navigation, (ATON's, e.g. Nuns, Cans, Day Beacons). The advance classes navigate portions of the Intra Coastal Waterway,(ICW), commercial ship channel, and if time allows, we may venture into the Gulf of Mexico.

The Spring equinox has past, the amount of daylight hours are steadly increasing. Our average daytime temperatures are warming. Whether its a three day basic keelboat sail training class or an adventurous; six or, nine day combination class, we are sure you'll have a positive experience.

Padre Island Yacht Club's first boat show & market days was a success

NORTH PADRE ISLAND — The first annual boat show and market days event was held at North Padre Island this weekend. The event brought crowds up to 1,500 on Saturday and about 500 on Sunday.

The Padre Island Yacht Club and Gulf Coast Marine has been working on the event since last December and members were pleased with the amount of people that attended this weekend.

"The wild picked up a little today but we're still expected to have fun today," said Gulf Coast Marine intern Barton Creed. "The amount of people that showed up and the times that were had were really great. We've had some good times here, so we're really happy with how it turned out," he said.

Attendees used their time to walk around the event and explore the booth of some local vendors selling anything from boats, ATV's, knick knacks and more.

Multiple food vendors were also at the event to serve people some sweat treats and more.

When I asked the creators about how their opinions on the longevity of this event, they expressed their optimism for the future:

"I went and did a survey with all of the vendors," said Mike Hettick of the Padre Island Yacht Club. "They were very pleased. I believe we had a great turnout. There was a lot of support so I think it was a very successful time," he said.

Hettick said that with the success of this event, they will plan to hold it again around the same time next year.
