Review of Spacesailer 24
Basic specs..
The hull is made of fibreglass. Generally, a hull made of fibreglass requires only a minimum of maintenance during the sailing season. And outside the sailing season, just bottom cleaning and perhaps anti-fouling painting once a year - a few hours of work, that's all.
The boat equipped with a masthead rig. The advantage of a masthead rig is its simplicity and the fact that a given sail area - compared with a fractional rig - can be carried lower and thus with less heeling moment.
The Spacesailer 24 is equipped with a fin keel. A boat with a fin keel is more manoeuvrable but has less directional stability than a similar boat with a full keel.
The keel is made of lead. Compared with iron, lead has the advantage of being 44% heavier, which allows a smaller keel and hence less water resistance and higher speed.
The boat can enter even shallow marinas as the draft is just about 1.30 - 1.40 meter (4.27 - 4.57 ft) dependent on the load. See immersion rate below.

Immaculate 1981 Spacesailor 24 Mk II now for sale.
This Swarbrick designed Spacesailor 24 has got to be one of the most well presented Spacesailors we have seen in a long time.
Shamely Lass is a Mk II version with a sort after sliding hatch over the companionway and diesel motor with saildrive all in excellent condition and a rare find.
She is set up well for racing around the buoys with a near new main, furling headsail and spinnaker that’s seen little use.
For family cruising she has a well thought out cabin that is in immaculate condition with a near new Maxie stove and fully enclosed head with separate water supply.
She has a cutaway transom and boarding ladder for easy access after a summer swim that can be enclosed when needed, together with cockpit cushions and boom tent for lazy afternoons with friends.
She comes with a 2014 Mercury 200 Inflatable,carry bag & cover along with a 2014 3.3hp Mercury outboard that has a 3 year warranty.
Suffice to say, this boat is simply jump on and off you go, so come and inspect at our Holmeport office.
