Ice 66 RS, a new Masterpiece Signed Micheletti & Partners and Farr Yacht Design

From the collaboration between Micheletti & Partners and Farr Yacht Design comes the new ICE 66 RS.

The water lines were entrusted to Farr Yacht Design, and the interior and exterior design to the notorious Italian designer Lucio Micheletti. “ We chose the best in the market, ” the words of the yard’s CEO , Marco Malgara.

ICE YACHTS ‘ new 66-footer was born from the idea of creating an extremely elegant, high-performance boat with a design taken from the best modern super sports cars in the automotive world. 

An innovative carbon glass lamination with a full carbon deck that, thanks to the one-step infusion system, combines carbon stiffness with natural vibration absorption qualities thanks to the one-step infusion system. The deck fittings also reflect the soul of the boat landed to the max, including EC6 carbon rigging and carbon mast. 

This makes it possible to create a compact boat characterized by a sporty soul that aspires to high performance in cruising and competitive sailing without sacrificing comfort. A concept where lightness, softness, and design play with distinctive shapes, ideal for landing on the challenging American market. 

Even in the interiors, the ICE 66 RS impresses with a spacious four-cabin layout with an innovative galley design without sacrificing ample space and brightness. The result is functional and innovative without sacrificing privacy and comfort.

The new ICE 66 RS maintains the yard’s hallmark of high quality and a high level of customization to meet all customer needs. Currently under construction, the first two exemplars will see the Mediterranean waters by May 2024.

The ICE Yacht shipyard is proud to present the ICE66rs. The first model in a series born from collaboration with the top names in the nautical industry: Farr Yacht design for the hull and naval architecture and Micheletti + Partners for the interior and exterior styling.

“Nothing less than the best” is the shipyard’s slogan for this new line: “We wanted to work with the best designers in the market to ensure a light, fast, competitive, and comfortable boat. The top in the market to bring the Made in Italy of the shipyard to an international level. This line is not meant to replace the existing production but will complement it, targeting an audience that appreciates the solidity and performance of ICE Yachts but seeks a more futuristic design.” These are the statements of ICE Yachts CEO Marco Malgara.

The boat, in its first version, will have a sandwich construction of glass carbon with a full carbon deck that combines the rigidity of carbon with the natural ability to absorb vibrations (and thus noise). A full carbon model is already in the works for speed enthusiasts. The mast, strictly made of carbon, will support a generous sail plan.

The keel blade, constructed with a double Weldox structure and the lead bulb milled with numerical control, will ensure the strength and robustness necessary to withstand the loads imposed by the large sail plan.

The carbon rudder with a forged autoclave 7 bar axis, designed with cutting-edge technology, allows for impressive control even in a heeled or subjected to high aerodynamic loads, always keeping safety in mind, both in design and construction.

“Finally, we have measured ourselves with a beautiful yacht for racing and fast cruising! After two years of full immersion in the sophistication of the America’s Cup and racing, we were able to dedicate ourselves to excellence in a ‘market’ project, for sailing and sea enthusiasts, for those who do not want to compromise on performance while making all-around use of their boat. Technologies and materials have made huge progress and allow us to create lightweight and extremely robust objects that provide comfort and silence, as well as durability. ICE’s SIX.SIX is a step-change for racing-cruising.”

The waterlines have been designed with the intention of taking the speed and seaworthiness qualities that the shipyard’s customers are used to, to a new level. The hull is derived from racing with a slightly reversed bow, as seen on the OR65 and has always been a hallmark of the shipyard. The maximum beam moved towards the stern, the powerful hull, and the significant righting moment allow this boat to aspire to compete with pure racers. The 3.35m draft has been judged the best compromise between performance and accessibility to the main Mediterranean ports.

The spacious garage, a record in its category and almost on par with that of an 80-foot yacht, is designed to accommodate a tender that is up to 3 meters in width, transversely!

Ice 66 RS – Exterior

The boat, in its first version, will have a glass-carbon sandwich construction with a full carbon deck that allows the stiffness of carbon to be combined with the natural vibration absorption qualities (and thus the noise). A full carbon model for speed enthusiasts is already under consideration. The mast, strictly carbon, will carry a generous sail plan. The drift blade, made of double Weldox structure and the numerically controlled milled lead bulb will provide the solidity and strength needed to withstand the loads given by the large sail plan. The carbon rudder with 7-bar autoclave forged shaft studied and designed with state-of-the-art technology allows impressive control even when the boat is heeled or subjected to large aerodynamic loads, always keeping a clear focus turned to the issue of safety, central to both design and construction.

“We finally measured ourselves with a beautiful yacht for racing and fast cruising! After two years of full immersion in America’s Cup and racer sophistication, we were able to devote ourselves to excellence on a project for the ‘market,’ for sailing and sea enthusiasts, for all those who do not want to give up performance while making all-around use of their boat. Technologies and materials have made tremendous progress and allow for the creation of objects that are lightweight and extremely strong, yet can provide comfort and quietness as well as being durable. ICE’s SIX.SIX is a step-change for race-cruising.” Thus comments John Belgrano of PURE ENGINEERING (Auckland – NZ), Structural Engineering.

The water lines were designed with the intention of taking the qualities of speed and seaworthiness, to which the shipyard’s clients are accustomed, to a new level. The hull is race-derived with a slightly reverse bow, as on the OR65s and always a stylistic feature of the shipyard. The maximum beam moved aft, powerful hull and significant righting moment allow this boat to aspire to compete with pure racers. The 3.35m draft was judged to be the best compromise between performance and accessibility in major Mediterranean ports. The large garage, record-breaking in its class and almost on a level with that of an 80-footer, is set up to transversely hold an inflated dinghy as large as 10 feet!

“ICE’s brief was enthusiastically received by our. Studying and working again with Lucio Micheletti (ed. after making the award-winning Baltic ‘Canova’) a real pleasure. The most interesting aspect was the freedom we were able to express in designing the hull, appendages and sail plan, which are at the top of all the experiences we have had over the years. We had a goal of maximum performance united with ease of operation. A modern and very fast boat that is nevertheless stable and precise. This boat will give fast cruising, but also the satisfactions in racing.”

Ice 66 RS – Cockpit

Farr Yacht Design (Annapolis – USA) comments, “The cockpit features classic Mediterranean style with ample seating and provision for outdoor living. The deckhouse features an automotive-derived design with wide paramare that conceal within them the exit of the sheets conveniently usable by one person through the 4 electric winches. Large front windows allow, from the dinette, a full view of the deck, resetting the interior/exterior separation to zero. A boat to be experienced at 360°.”

Ice 66 RS – Interior

Several layouts are being considered for this project; it certainly will not be the usual sailboat. The Raised Saloon typology allows greater freedom in room layout and provides better access to all facilities for maintenance. This allowed Lucio Micheletti to design a boat with unthinkable spaces for this category. The Main Saloon, large and airy makes you think you are on a 70-footer. The classic 3-cabin 3-bathroom layout is joined by a 4-cabin 4-bathroom option that allows for a totally independent twin for crew or younger children.

The special feature of this line is that it will be extensively customizable; the entire ICE Yachts technical department and the Micheletti + Partners studio will collaborate in creating the ideal boat for each owner.

Lucio Micheletti (Milan – ITA), Designer at Micheletti + Partners Studio, says, “We thought we would find ourselves and start again with a new project, a concept where lightness and design play with unprecedented forms. We thought ICE could be the right theater to do experimentation. The challenge is high, because boats between 16 and 24 meters are the most difficult. They are big, but not very big. You have to combine efficiency, comfort and practicality in volumes that never give anything away. And of course, as with all boats, they have to be a pleasure to the eye. I tried to stay clean without adding anything that is not useful and functional, for the exteriors, and to reward the feeling of space and brightness in the interiors that are also very very practical. The result is innovative, but not gratuitous. I am happy with what has been achieved outside and inside.”

Memorable 2023 for Ice Yachts: production at full capacity

We are back in the Ice Yachts shipyards: waiting for us is Marco Malgara, to tell us about this memorable 2023.

With orders coming in from all over the world, from owners of the highest level who choose them as their manufacturer, the yard offers a wide range of models:

– ICE 52 #17 RS version – ICE 54 #18 – ICE 52 #19 – ICE 53 ST (first model ever. Compared to the other ICE 52s it is a foot longer and 2 tons lighter) – ICE 70 #5 – ICE 66 , first model ever – ICE Targa (two models in production, numbers #6 and #7)

Here they are, all together, divided between the Salvirola shipyard where we are today, and the one in Cremona . As two years ago to welcome us with his contagious enthusiasm is Marco Malgara , founder and CEO of this all-Italian shipyard.

“ 2023 is proving to be a great year for Ice Yachts, we are working very well – this is how Marco Malgara welcomes us, satisfied with the growth that has seen them as protagonists – We are completing new projects, namely the new Ice 53 ST which will be ready in mid-September, and the new Ice 66 . These are the two headlights of this year.

There is also an Ice 54 , which is a modified version of the 53 and should be on delivery by early October.

We delivered at the end of January our first boat in Japan, the first Ice 66 ; we also delivered the hull no. 19 of the Ice 52 RS , a very successful series that makes us very happy. An Ice Targa is also ready, and another one we are starting these days.

All this in our two production sites, in Salvirola and in Cremona: in Cremona we deal with composite, here in Salvirola with finishing and outfitting. We are also moving in other directions, more marine let’s say, but I cannot anticipate anything about that yet.

In other words, our production is at full capacity: our 8 wonders, as you wrote in your magazine in 2021”.

Demands change, customers’ ways of approaching have changed, waiting times have changed. Somehow the world has shrunk, everything is at your fingertips, and making yourself known has become much easier: but the quality of Made in Italy still undoubtedly has all its appeal and makes all the difference.

“We have received requests from the most varied countries. From Brazil , from which a word-of-mouth started all the way to Mexico and we’ve already had three more orders. Then, as mentioned -bove, Japan, where we will deliver our Ice 66, and Germany, where our 70/80-foot racing yachts are proving to be very successful.

We have several requests from Italy as well, both small and big boats: we are designing an important 80-footer with the Felci studio, super innovative, not for racing, but for big ocean sailing. We also have a special request from Cayman Island, a full-featured Ice 52 for a local owner/builder.

They are all people who come to see us personally from the other side of the world, to sit at the table with us, to talk about every aspect of their next boat and customize it so that it fully meets their need. This aspect of customer care is also crucial to us: when a customer entrusts himself to us, spending significant sums of money, we feel it is our duty to take the utmost care of him and put ourselves at his service to fully fulfill his expectations”.

A shipyard like Ice Yachts is not easy to tell without breathing in the smell of the paint, without looking into the eyes of all the skilled workers who wander among the hulls, immense above us, and work, despite the pressing heat of a scorching June day.

Without perceiving the passion behind every hammer blow, every sanding or every deck lowering: in this machine made of hard work, everything fits together perfectly, like the boats around me.

I often wonder what is behind those stories, and Marco is very good at describing them to me.

“Our shipyard – continues Marco Malgara, CEO of Ice Yachts – has about 60 and all of them are proud to work here. I took over the shipyard 11 years ago and all the workers I have taken over since then are still here. I think that has significance.

And then of course the customer care aspect. We listen to their needs, their desires, but without forgetting our DNA. We have precise market ranges where we fit in, and we aim for an average of 6 to 7 boats a year , which, at the moment, is fine, partly because there is obsessive care behind each one.

In the meantime, we have added more people and tools that have allowed us to reach a really important level, and to take care of the facilities internally. The only things we don’t produce in-house are electrical installations, because there is a lot of electronics now. On other aspects like plumbing we rely on the partners we work with. For example, in the Ice 70 and 60 we have a lot of plumbing that Felci Carboni took care of, with whom we have a wonderful partnership and we are very happy with that.

It is clear in everyone’s mind, Ice Yachts is not a meteor, and this 2023 is yet more proof of that. Despite being a relatively young shipyard, it is here to stay. That extra gear can be felt in the atmosphere, from the way the fingers fly fast over the employees’ keyboards, how the new generation is growing, and from Marco’s smile full of enthusiasm that pretty much says it all.

Four Seasons Yachts: 5 Facts and First Look at 2026 Itineraries

Superyachts run by the Four Seasons brand are creating a buzzy new offering. Competitors include Marriott's Ritz-Carlton and Accor's Orient Express.

Four Seasons revealed on Tuesday the first itineraries for its new brand, Four Seasons Yachts. The hospitality company also shared the first renderings of its maiden vessel, which it has yet to name.

Here are five facts that stood out.

1. Four Seasons’ first yacht will take turns sailing the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.

When the Four Seasons Yachts brand begins service in January 2026, its first vessel will cruise to the Caribbean for weeklong trips among the islands of St. Barths, Nevis, the Grenadines, St Lucia, Barbados, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Curaçao, and Aruba.

In March 2026, the yacht will cross the Atlantic and begin trips that stop at ports in Croatia, Gibraltar, Montenegro, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and Turkey. Several itineraries will feature stops in Greece, including Athens, Ios, Santorini, and Milos.

2. Four Seasons Yachts will favor ports only private vessels tend to visit.

Four Seasons Yachts is a brand that belongs to a new generation of cruise ship offerings known as superyachts. These commercial vessels are bigger than a private yacht but smaller than a cruise ship.

An advantage of superyachts compared to typical cruise ships is that they can visit ports of call ordinarily only with the infrastructure to support small private vessels.

This agility will let the first Four Season Yacht visit more than 130 spots in over 30 countries and territories in its first year alone. A sample stop could let guests easily explore Martinique’s volcanic coral reefs and lush rainforest landscapes in a way they couldn’t if sailing on a traditional large luxury liner.

Other brands in the category include the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, which already has ships at sea, and Orient Express Silenseas, which intends to debut in 2026.

3. The superyachts intend to take design to a higher level than the standard luxury cruise liner.

The 14-deck luxury vessel is inspired by Aristotle Onassis’ iconic yacht Christina O, according to Four Seasons and its partner Marc-Henry Cruise Holdings and shipbuilder Fincantieri.

The ship will have 95 guest suites created by the brand’s creative director, Prosper Assouline, along with Tillberg Design of Sweden .

4. Suites on a Four Seasons yacht will emphasize space.

The first vessel from Four Seasons Yachts promises to have “50% more living space per guest” than what’s available on the Ilma , the first ship to debut from rival player Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection .

Suites will offer floor-to-ceiling windows, double vanity bathrooms, and large private balconies, as just-shared images reveal.

The largest suites range from 2,981 to 9,975 square feet of indoor and outdoor living space.

5. Amenities will include a 66-foot saltwater pool and a marina deck.

From the collaboration between Micheletti & Partners and Farr Yacht Design comes the new Ice 66 RS.

The water lines were entrusted to Farr Yacht Design, and the interior and exterior design to the notorious Italian designer Lucio Micheletti. "We chose the best in the market," the words of the yard's CEO, Marco Malgara.

Ice Yachts' new 66-footer was born from the idea of creating an extremely elegant, high-performance boat with a design taken from the best modern super sports cars in the automotive world.

An innovative carbon glass lamination with a full carbon deck that, thanks to the one-step infusion system, combines carbon stiffness with natural vibration absorption qualities thanks to the one-step infusion system. The deck fittings also reflect the soul of the boat landed to the max, including EC6 carbon rigging and carbon mast.

This makes it possible to create a compact boat characterized by a sporty soul that aspires to high performance in cruising and competitive sailing without sacrificing comfort. A concept where lightness, softness, and design play with distinctive shapes, ideal for landing on the challenging American market.

Even in the interiors, the boat impresses with a spacious four-cabin layout with an innovative galley design without sacrificing ample space and brightness. The result is functional and innovative without sacrificing privacy and comfort.

The new Ice 66 maintains the yard's hallmark of high quality and a high level of customization to meet all customer needs. Currently under construction, the first two exemplars will see the Mediterranean waters by May 2024.

A look at the most expensive superyachts at the Palm Beach yacht show and their insane features, from basketball courts on deck to ice baths and saunas

• The Palm Beach International Boat Show kicks off later this week.
• Eight megayachts are expected to be on display for would-be buyers and charter customers.
• These are the show's biggest yachts — and how many millions of dollars they are going for.

The Palm Beach International Boat Show — the yacht world's flashiest event stateside — is returning this year with over 800 boats for both deep-pocketed potential owners and window shoppers to peruse.

While it's impossible to know what exactly will be on display until the show begins on Thursday, it's expected that eight megayachts — generally defined as ships over 60 meters long — will be docked at the show and at nearby marinas like the Rybovich Marina in the ritzy Florida town.

Some of these are for sale at eye-popping prices, but others are available to charter in case you fancy living like a billionaire for a week or two this summer (and if you have six figures to spare on a vacation).

These are the eight biggest yachts that will be at the Palm Beach International Boat Show and nearby marinas, in size order.

Nero: 90.1 meters

Price: From $497,000 a week (charter) Standout features: Pizza ovens, beauty salon, massage room, resistance pool

Reportedly owned by Irish billionaire Denis O'Brien, Nero is modeled after J.P. Morgan's 1930s ship , and was built in 2007 and updated in 2021.

She now boasts a gym on her sundeck with multiple cardio machines and a beauty salon, and has an on-board beautician for manicure, pedicure, hair, and massage needs. There's also an upgraded movie theater, two new pizza ovens, and both a pool and a jacuzzi.

For those who want to go overboard, she has more than a dozen toys, including a waterslide, Jet Ski, and flyboard.

Victorious: 85 meters

Price: From $876,600 a week in the summer and $950,000 a week in the winter Standout features: Hammam (Turkish bath), wine cellar, wood-burning fireplace, children's playroom

Victorious brings a party vibe to the yacht show. With a beach club on board, a wine cellar, a cigar clubroom , multiple bars, and a lounge with a piano, the vessel is made for entertaining. Plus, there's a playroom and movie theater to entertain the kids.

For tamer charter clients, Victorious has a suite of wellness features such as a gym, massage room, beauty salon and hammam — perhaps a custom request of her owner, Turkish businessman Vural Ak.

She also boasts a treasure trove of water toys, including Jet Skis, jetsurfs, inflatable kayaks, and scuba equipment.

Casino Royale: 72 meters

Price: TBD Special Features: Infinity pool, helipad, private jacuzzi

Purchased and refitted by car dealer magnate John Staluppi last year, Casino Royale is the latest of his James Bond-inspired yachts (he's also owned an Octopussy and a Skyfall, among others).

Casino Royale has a helipad that turns into a dancefloor, an infinity pool, and a wellness center with a gym and sauna. The owner's cabin has its own deck, which features a private bar and jacuzzi.

However, the boat's price isn't listed, and while she's not necessarily officially for sale, that might change depending on who's prepared to buy, Mr. Bond.

Talisman C: 70.6 meters

Price: $60 million (or from $567,000 a week to charter) Special features: Massage and beauty room, private library

Likely the largest yacht for sale (not just charter) at the show, the Talisman C is a 2011 six-bedroom boat. The owner's cabin comes with an en suite bathroom, dressing room, private library, and crystal chandeliers.

Amenities include a gym, a beauty room, oversized jacuzzi, and a fully equipped bar. Her crew of 19 includes a trained masseuse, and the toy room comes equipped with a wakeboard, eFoil , and WaveRunners.

Joy: 70 meters

Price: From $650,000 a week Special features: Disco club, basketball court, onboard fitness instructor

Superyacht Joy testifies to the fact that owners want as many on-board experiences as they can get.

There's an expansive suite of fitness features, including a basketball court (don't shoot that hoop too hard!), a personal trainer on staff, boxing equipment, and a handful of machines. For post-workout winddowns, there's a spa with a steam room and onboard masseuse. And for entertainment, there's both an outdoor and indoor cinema, and a disco club.

Triumph: 65.4 meters

Price: From $707,600 a week in the summer and $650,000 a week in the winter Special features: Sauna, helipad, banana boat

This 2021 superyacht is named after Triumph motorcycles — a reported favorite of her rumored owner, British businessman Chris Dawson — and even has one on display as an art piece in the upper deck's lounge. The primary suite is 1,400 square feet and has its own study , and there's a sauna, an indoor-outdoor gym, a helipad, and a massage room spread among her six decks.

She boasts an "armada of water toys," including two kinds of Jet Skis, electric water bikes, and a banana boat.

Seanna: 64.5 meters

Price: $54,000,000 (or from $462,000 a week to charter) Special features: marble foyer, movie room, sundeck pool

The recently refurbished Seanna is available for sale and charter.

Her indoor-outdoor gym is on sea level so that passengers can take a dip after a session with the onboard personal trainer. There's also a sundeck pool, a helipad, a two-room massage facility, and, for the more cerebral guests, a library with an electric fireplace.

There are a number of toys on board, including a popular water trampoline and two WaveRunners.

Come Together: 60 meters

Price: $65,000,000 Special Features: DJ and videographer on board, ice bath, sauna

Next-to-new yacht Come Together is looking for a new owner after doing charters during the 2023 season.

The Beatles' influence is evident beyond the yacht's name, with guitars dotting the sky lounge and a crewmember who doubles as a DJ. There's also an outdoor cinema and bar for entertainment and an ice bath and sauna for the day after the party. The owner's suite has a private study and lounge, and each guest cabin has its own ensuite.

The sale includes a number of toys, like Jet Skis, kayaks, and Seabobs.
