The Hutting 40 is a rigid yacht, suitable for long trips. The D. Koopmans design is characterized by a long and relatively narrow hull with an S-shaped bilge. The boat is cutter rigged and can be reefed in steps so that any storm can be weathered. Winter 2013/2014 the owner has invested hefty and the boat is completely ready for long trips. For the experienced sailor the boat is easy to sail even short handend. The cockpit offers good shelter and navigation can be done inside at the chart table. The navigation equipment has been renewed in 2014 and is fully up-to-date. The interior is nicely made of teak, combined with white panels. Mercedes marine diesel engine has a lot of hours but will serve reliable propulsion after thorough refit carried out in 2014. Great advantage of this brand is that its components as well as knowledge about technique can be found all over the world. The tanks for diesel, water and waste water are integrated into the structure with large inspection hatches. For those looking for a solid steel yacht this Hutting 40 is a good choice. Aluminum Hutting 40 cutter sailing yacht, built in 1997 by Hutting Yachts in Holland, designed by Dick Koopmans Sr. and Tjerk Hutting, LOA 12,20m, LWL 10,10m, beam 3,60m, draft 1.60, Aluminum hull and superstructure, Bottom skin plates 8mm, other skin plates 6mm, deck/superstructure and cockpit 5mm, The hull and deck are insulated with 20mm closed cell lining, excluding forepeak and stowage aft. Teak decks, S-shaped keel, displacement approx. 13,4 tons, 6,8 tons cast lead ballast, 500 liters fuel capacity, 450 liters water capacity in two aluminum tanks, 100 liters waste water tank, Whitlock Cobra wheel steering, aluminum emergency tiller.

DESIGNED FOR ULTIMATE PERFORMANCE

The Hutting 46 Explorer is designed by Van Oossanen naval architects , specialists in hydrodynamics and the design of sailing yachts with specific performance requirements. Leveraging their expertise, they have created various sailing yachts for prestigious competitions such as the America’s Cup.

The design comes with two types of bulb keel types: one short variant with winglets resulting in a total draft of 1.9 meters and a longer version without winglets resulting in a total draft of 2.4 meters; both variants achieve nearly identical performance.

The bulb dimensions are meticulously calculated using CFD; ‘computational fluid dynamics technology. Additionally, the extendable bowsprit provides the flexibility to deploy a Code zero or Helix, to increase optimal tuning capabilities in any weather condition ensuring safety, control, speed and optimal sailing performance.

Two Keel Variants

The design offers two keel types to suit every long-distance cruiser, both achieving nearly identical performance: • Shallow with winglets and trim-tab to tune performance in any condition, resulting in a total draft of 1.9 meters; ideal for ocean cruising and close coastal sailing • Long keel without winglets, a well-known, straightforward keel-type resulting in a total draft of 2.4 meters; ideal for ocean cruising

Sailplan optimisation by VPP calculations

The yacht’s sailing plan has been optimised using a Velocity Prediction Program (VPP), a tool that calculates the yacht’s performance at various desired wind strengths and headings. The software considers crucial factors such as stability, resistance, and transverse force. The yacht’s performance, resulting from the optimised sail plan and VPP calculations, is illustrated in the polar diagram. The figures on the right depicts the performance for both the shallow keel (1.90m draft, with trim tab and winglets) and the deep keel variant (2.4m draft), with their performances being nearly identical.

Requirements

We specialize in selling all-round cruisers, regardless of brand or material. What matters is the current state of the yacht and its quality. We prefer selling brokerage yachts from our designated 'brokerage harbor' at the yard. This way, we can easily arrange viewings, trial sails, and ensure more exposure. While it's also possible to sell your yacht through our brokerage from a different overseas location, as we understand that some sailors prefer to keep on traveling.  We specialize in yachts ranging from 35 ft to 65 ft, with asking prices starting from €100,000. Please feel free to contact us to discuss the brokerage possibilities.

Before we welcome a sailing yacht into our brokerage, we take a close look to ensure it's in the right condition for a successful sale. To kick off the process, we need to understand every detail about your yacht. We offer guidance on maximizing the chances of a valuable sale, and we can organize a CV (Condition Value) inspection for the necessary technical check. Simply fill in our specification form and share as many photos and videos of your yacht as possible. If feasible, we might even arrange an extra photo or video session at the location to ensure top-notch online representation for an active sale! Once on board, we handle all communication with potential buyers, arrange trial sails, and keep you in the loop. If an offer comes through, we'll reach out to you. If a deal is made, we ensure the sales contracts are prepared and ready for your signature!
